To add insult to injury, apparently we are looking at signing Oxlade Chamberlain for £28m. Just when you thought this transfer window couldn't get any worse.

FranklyMrShankly

1.) 07 Aug 2017 09:58:48
since July.

2.) 07 Aug 2017 10:03:11
You have got to be the most negative person on this site. I haven't seen one positive post from you in the past few days. You need to relax and have faith in the players, the team and the manger. The window is still open. We Coutinho is still here. The manager has repeatedly said that phil is not for sale and we have no reason to think otherwise. So once again, please just relax.

3.) 07 Aug 2017 10:02:29
Hahaha at least you're consistent Mr frankly.

4.) 07 Aug 2017 10:05:52
Ox was awesome in charity shield. Perfect attributes to do well
for klopp.

5.) 07 Aug 2017 10:10:00
Fencey, what I heard was an increased offer, which makes no sense for a very mediocre player in the last year of his contract.

6.) 07 Aug 2017 11:14:03
Give Ox a break please. he is not even a liverpool player yet. Also he did not do too badly against Chealsea did he?

7.) 07 Aug 2017 11:39:17
You haven't watched the same player I have seen. Typical headless chicken English winger with added injury problems.

8.) 07 Aug 2017 15:48:28
Frankly, mr frankly. You're comments are both negative and innaccurate. You said the other day coutinho is definitely leaving and anyone who doesn't realise this is dillusional. macca now posts he's 50/ 50. Maybe it's you who is dillusional, making bold claims and having any excuse to be negative.

9.) 07 Aug 2017 16:25:07
Not sure which comments are inaccurate?

Coutinho is very unlikely to be a Liverpool player at the end of the transfer window. To think that we can offer Coutinho the trophies he'll win at Barcelona is delusional since we're simply not good enough to compete with the top teams. Footballers careers are short and he is at the stage where he has to make a choice, I don't doubt that had we brought in VVD and ? it would have been a more difficult choice as he could see the squad improving, but as it stands, Barcelona represents a better opportunity, whether we like that or not.

As for Oxlade Chamberlain, he is a very very ordinary footballer at best and I'm being generous there. His end product is awful and he has serious long term injury issues, if we sold Coutinho and brought him in that would be going backwards.

10.) 07 Aug 2017 18:10:06
Bang on kwikop. Is don't understand the negativity around him. It's not like they are saying 50 mil for him? That would be a worry.

28 is more than reasonable.

And yes, he was great against Chelsea.

I honestly think if he were playing in German league and we youtubed him to find out a bit about him, lfc fans would be pleased by link.

Every England manager picks him and he scores for england. He is no cm imo but as a winger or wing back he is cool.

I think we've cooled interest since we cooled on vvd. Therefore I think klopp was planning on playing 352. With the ox as a wing back and TAA as the other, while van dike plays in middle of back 3.

I for one would be pleased to have another England international at lfc.

10 Jun 2017 22:34:59
The papers are reporting that we now want to bid £40m for Oxlade Chamberlain. Hope it's just paper talk guff as we've trolled ourselves enough this transfer window already without wasting money like that.

FranklyMrShankly

1.) 10 Jun 2017 22:44:00
Of course it is.

2.) 10 Jun 2017 23:06:03
This would be the story of FSG and sum us right up if we end up buying Ox for 40 mill as our Main summer signing.

3.) 10 Jun 2017 23:14:50
Am I the only one hoping this is true? He's a decent player. I'm not sure he's worth 40m, but he'll very rarely let you down.

4.) 10 Jun 2017 23:19:44
I don't believe even Liverpool are stupid enough to spend that much on Ox.

5.) 10 Jun 2017 23:42:56
I don't get why everyone is getting wound up. The window closes in two and half months, there is plenty of time to get signings in. People are talking here as the window is closing tomorrow and no one has signed.

As a Liverpool supporter I would support them in the third division and do it with pride. Would sing "You'll Never Walk Alone" as proud and loud as I did the night of Istanbul.

Transfers don't happen at the pace the papers make it seem. The Eds can confirm a transfer can take months of negotiation and scouting prior to a bid being made. Stop following the papers and wait for something with concrete reputation to report it.

6.) 10 Jun 2017 23:43:50
I would love to see the Ox in a Liverpool shirt. Quality player mismanaged by Wenger. He would flourish under Klopp. I hope we get him.

7.) 10 Jun 2017 23:56:26
16 mil great buy. 40 not a chance.

8.) 11 Jun 2017 01:07:38
That's a rediculous fee for someone with 1 year left and doesn't play every game.

Would be a decent player for us I think though I don't really see where he fits in.

9.) 11 Jun 2017 02:07:56
20 million or under, fine.
If the price is higher, move on.

10.) 11 Jun 2017 03:19:55
I hope we get him too and I think we will. Along with vvd his name has been linked all year, those two above all others have been mentioned. Forty mil sounds a lot but so does nearly every high end deal these days. Last week Ed02, myself and others were saying we'd rather take a cheaper player that fit rather than a flashy signing for the sake of spending. The truth is ox would fit our team. Perfectly. He's English, he's young, and he's in the wrong team. He may not be cheap but I doubt it'd be as much as 40. I'd take ox over salah, for same price. He's tried and tested. Hope we get both and vvd.

11.) 11 Jun 2017 07:07:34
Jonny-Ox is tried and tested, and is a failure! and he fits our team because he's English and young? how does that work? For one we didn't have one young English regular last season and two, what's your age and nationality got to do with fitting into our team?

12.) 11 Jun 2017 07:12:40
As jackored said a year left on his contract so I can't see 40mil being the price.

Probably get him for half that if the interest is real.

13.) 11 Jun 2017 07:50:02
If they pay that its a new recruitment dept that's needed.

14.) 11 Jun 2017 07:50:25
Yeah he'd fit right in with sturiddge and Henderson on the treatment table where he would spend most of the season. Be a great buy. Exactly what we need another player made of paper to keep sturiddge company.

15.) 11 Jun 2017 07:51:00
We have enough issues with keeping our own squad fit and free from injury without paying £40m for a player who is prone to picking up injuries.

16.) 11 Jun 2017 08:24:50
But aren't we supposed to pay whatever the asking price is now? I thought all this haggling is a sign of how bad our recruitment team is. Surely refusing to pay over the odds is terrible business.

17.) 11 Jun 2017 08:25:20
Rather give Ojo a chance.

{Ed002's Note - I rather suspect Ojo will not be there next season.}

18.) 11 Jun 2017 08:32:01
Forget Ojo, he isn't good enough.

19.) 11 Jun 2017 08:53:47
Cobra if Ojo isn't good enough then Oxlade definitely isn't.

20.) 11 Jun 2017 08:53:03
Shame Ojo isn't being given a chance ed seens as he has genuine pace and is a LW, an area we need players in. Loan out likely then?

{Ed002's Note - I would think so.}

21.) 11 Jun 2017 09:06:50
I don't think people are solely upset over just this window that hasn't even opened yet. As they say there is no smoke without fire and since FSG came in it has been the same old story. After all we are the club who sold Luis and replaced him with Lambert, Balotelli and Markovic. And that was after securing CL football. I'd support LFC in any division either but it doesn't mean I am going to be happy and sit quietly whilst being taken for a mug.

22.) 11 Jun 2017 09:12:24
Frank- Ox isn't good enough, he is however better than Ojo.

23.) 11 Jun 2017 09:17:26
No way worth £40m with only a year left on his contract. £20m would be worth it I think . Could be a useful addition. But maybe it's just a way to get himself a decent renewel of his arsenal contract . Can't see it happening . maybe other areas of team need improving first. Cb, lb, dm, and another attacking player .

24.) 11 Jun 2017 09:18:19
If we do loan Ojo out, I hope it's done wisely and with a managee who will nurture him and play him, there's a lot of talent there.

{Ed002's Note - Newcastle are keen.}

25.) 11 Jun 2017 09:33:22
Not a bad option under Benitez.

26.) 11 Jun 2017 09:53:57
I'd rather he played regularly for Newcastle at this stage then sat on the bench watching our newly signed left winger play in his spot.

27.) 11 Jun 2017 09:43:04
What's klopps number? I need a word.

28.) 11 Jun 2017 15:34:14
No cobra, being young and english are bonuses. He would fit our high pressing game. He's quick both with feet and mind. An attacking player who knows how to get stuck in. Easy to forget he's only 23. Plenty of ucl experience. If u can't see how he fits then I can't help you.

29.) 11 Jun 2017 15:36:38
Ox is a failure! That's funny he scored for england yesterday!

30.) 11 Jun 2017 16:14:19
I get that it's at a different level, but Ojo completely changed the game when he came on for England u20s against Italy in the semi finals. They just couldn't cope with him.

Harry Wilson again. I think this lad has the talent to go far, he definitely has end product. Hope he gets a chance next season as he’s definitely taken his chance on loan.

FranklyMrShankly

1.) 16 Jan 2019 23:47:53
I'd love too see it as well mate, I think he would really have to step up to another level though, he has a gift of a left foot, premier league title contenders is a different ball game though.

2.) 17 Jan 2019 00:25:44
Some doubt his all-round game, or whether he is ready to step up from the championship, but in my opinion you never know what will happen until you give them a chance. Ibe seemed destined for stardom and then fell way short. Contrastingly, someone like Kane was destined for a life in the lower divisions, was given a chance, and then worked his socks off to make the most of it. Until you put youngsters at the forefront, with all the pressure, responsibility and control over their own destiny, you never know how they are going to do.

3.) 17 Jan 2019 00:59:14
His free kicks alone are worth $10million.

4.) 17 Jan 2019 00:33:57
I read a post the other day from a guy with mates who regularly attend Derby games who says his all round game needs work and that he's a bit lazy tracking back.
Do you think free kick highlights mask his shortcomings? Maybe Carragold has a view too?

5.) 17 Jan 2019 07:39:14
Not sure if people watch 90 minutes of Derby or Wales on a regular basis. I try watching Wilson off the ball, build up play, how he comfortable he is in possession. Defensive positions he takes up etc. I have to say he does not have to much involvement in most of games I've seen him in; he goes missing for large parts of every game. Which is understandable for his age; he is fantastic on a dead ball and can hit a shot. Right now he is not strong enough, doesn't have amazing skill to make up for the lack of physicality or speed. I've seen this when Derby are the stronger of the two team or the weaker team, I've seen him surrounded by a "decent" welsh team. Personally I'd love to see him get a chance at Liverpool but my gut tells me he is not ready for the Prem.

6.) 17 Jan 2019 08:21:09
He can be taught to track back and its just how well he will respond to that.

I agree that you do not know untill you give him a chance. Surely he would be in the squad and get games in 2019/ 20 season. No pressure and then take it from there.

7.) 17 Jan 2019 09:53:42
Speaking of talent. Not long time ago, Gabriel Jesus was destined for a life, polishing shoes in the streets of São Paulo, and now he's playing for Man City. Sometimes life just takes a big fat dig at you!

{Ed001's Note - not sure what that has to do with talent?}

8.) 17 Jan 2019 10:51:00
The boy had great talent for shoe polishing, but then life took a turn for the worse. All Im saying is, not all people manage to embrace their real talent.

9.) 17 Jan 2019 11:44:19
And def not forgetting dele Ali whom spurs bought him when he’s at mk don, playing in the league one .
It’s the reason that’s they sees a potential in him and most importantly he’s given a chance to play!
I dun see why lallala is still in the team and why harry Wilson can’t be given a chance .
And monitoring his performance, he’s almost playing full matches this season when he’s not injured.

10.) 17 Jan 2019 11:56:27
That was me Burkey, im going on info season ticket holders round my way have given me, for a regular starter in midfield they say he goes missing and needs to bulk up, i say that's probably true but would he be worse than say Lallana in the squad? He clearly has something we lack apart from Shaq now and then its not that often we ram a free kick home from distance.
Let him play the season out there, see what gives in the summer.

11.) 17 Jan 2019 13:11:21
It’s not only the free kicks MLR. He’s a great left foot with accurate shots at goal . Something which is lacking currently in the squad.
not forgetting his pin point crosses and A confident penalty Taker.
Shd try him next season!

12.) 18 Jan 2019 09:24:21
Wilson needs to be given a shot and also take up one of our HG spots. He deserves it. What’s the point in putting a player out on loan, and him doing really well if we don’t give him a shot the following season.

02 Dec 2018 21:24:48
Guess that’s Pickfords words about Allison coming back to bite him on the arse then!

FranklyMrShankly

{Ed025's Note - very much so mate..

1.) 02 Dec 2018 22:10:41
FranklyShanks, what did he say, exactly about AB?

2.) 02 Dec 2018 22:28:06
He just made a mistake. funny thing is earlier in the game me and my mate we sayibg Pickford is algoods but woukdnt want him cos he too small. and then he barely jimps high enough to tip it over the cross bar haha poor lad, good game otherwise.

3.) 02 Dec 2018 22:37:10
Think it was something like, ‘I wouldn’t make a howler like alisson’ prime Example why players need to keep quiet, it will almost always come back and bite you.
This isn’t just Pickford, plenty of players say something that haunts them.

4.) 03 Dec 2018 19:24:50
WYred then he deserves whatever grief he gets. There is a reason why players do NOT criticize other players esp. those who play in the same position. Remember when Karius was getting lit up after the CL final? Who came to his defence? Allison. Pickford should have shut his pie hole and dodged the question or be deferential to Allison. He did not cos he seems to have a mouth on him. One more thing he should learn from Allison. Allison barely talks and does his talking on the pitch. Pickford ran his mouth and cost Everton the derby for the SECOND time.

20 Aug 2018 23:45:50
Salah, you’ll never walk alone mate.

FranklyMrShankly

{Ed0333's Note - I echo those sentiments Shankley. The whole of the Liverpool-rumours readership prayers and thoughts are with you Salah and we anticipate your return fella.

1.) 21 Aug 2018 06:01:36
If thoughts and prayers can give you strength mate then you should be back with us in no time as you have a massive community, our rumours worldwide community thinking of you. And although it will be a long journey back, I hope you reading the messages of support and how much you actually mean to everyone here helps get you through the darker times.

2.) 21 Aug 2018 06:52:29
What an awful thing to happen.
Wish you a speedy recovery to full health. May your family stay strong around you.
Best wishes to you all.

3.) 21 Aug 2018 07:05:17
What happened

Excuse my ignorance.

4.) 21 Aug 2018 10:36:45
Get well soon Salah. I'll be praying for you, your family and a speedy recovery.

20 Jul 2018 13:06:46
Welcome to our new number 10, take a bow Sadio Mane!

FranklyMrShankly

1.) 20 Jul 2018 13:12:55
I think this probably signifies the end of our pursuit or Fekir.

2.) 20 Jul 2018 13:41:37
I think fekir was being bought to add creativity to the midfield and not because the number 10 shirt was vacant.

3.) 20 Jul 2018 13:44:20
Or maybe Fekir will take Moreno's number 18.
Could be that Sadio just asked for #10 during his contract discussion. Nice to have him and Mo back home to Melwood safe and sound.

4.) 20 Jul 2018 13:31:12
or maybe not.

5.) 20 Jul 2018 13:32:22
Nabil Fekir wears 18 or Lyons and France. If he comes to Liverpool maybe he'll take that number.

Mane deserves the number 10 if that's what he wanted.

6.) 20 Jul 2018 14:00:44
Irish, and I think the no. 10 shirt is generally for players who play the CAM role hence my reference to the end of pursuit for Fekir.

7.) 20 Jul 2018 14:58:21
Given we don't play a typical "#10" is it really that important.? Too much focus on fekir coming to play a position we don't really use in our system.

8.) 20 Jul 2018 17:22:22
Faithworks, if we don't play with a true no. 10, then why were we ever bothered with doing ALL the work to bring Fekir (a true no. 10) here to begin with?

9.) 20 Jul 2018 19:09:53
The ucl final showed us that liverpool lacked creativity in the midfield. That has now changed.

10.) 22 Jul 2018 07:17:41
because he is versatile to come in and play as an 8 or as part of our front 3. I don't even want fekir tbh, I'd much rather have pulisic.

13 Jun 2018 14:48:03
Apparently Barcelona (according to one dodgy Spanish outlet) want to offer £88m plus Cillessen. So that’s £87m in real terms.

FranklyMrShankly

1.) 13 Jun 2018 15:12:02
Wow, that's a LOT more than I thought Mignolet was worth, but I'd take it!

2.) 13 Jun 2018 15:27:49
No Zed its for the old training ground gates they moved the entrance and finally found a buyer for the old gates, they have been using them to kick balls against for ages!

3.) 13 Jun 2018 15:43:19
Meant to say £88m plus Cillessen for Salah. Which is essentially £87m for Salah. Given how poor Cillessen is.

4.) 13 Jun 2018 19:31:40
Im sorry lads but i've given them Salah for a straight swap for Shakira off Piqué.

5.) 13 Jun 2018 20:33:28
Nice one, Frankly.

It’s not just getting goals, we lack a midfielder that can pick a pass in midfield. We’re too lumpen and workmanlike, plus we have no one who is capable of taking a free kick.

None of this happened by accident, poor decision making has led us here.

Didn’t buy a new central defender before the season started.

Didn’t buy a new central defender when the January window started.

Played midfielders in centre of defence at the cost of our actual midfield when there were players who could play in centre of defence.

Relying on snookers at the end of the season and hoping for favours from United, which is so bad it’s almost funny,

Pathetic end to the season. Changes are needed to the squad in the summer, like it or not the table doesn’t lie. We’ve not scored enough goals and conceded too many cheap ones. Barring Salah, we’re pretty toothless up front.

The owners need to think about what they want, do they want to compete at the top or just be Arsenal and barely qualify for the Thursday cup every year, or do they want mid table obscurity or worse because our form since January has been relegation form.

No champions league football for one season is going to be bad, but if it becomes two and then three, then it’s a disaster.

And just to run salt into the wounds, you can guarantee that United will actually make an effort on Thursday and probably spank us.

The thing we were lacking immensely last season was goals and guile in midfield like City have. They’ve got DeBruyne, Silva and Bernardo Silva and we literally have nothing. Our midfield is workmanlike and lumpen in comparison. We need a spark of creativity. So it’s not as simple as you’ve said.

Ed, do you think Raiola’s clients will bin him off? People criticise Jorge Mendes as an agent, but I never see him agitating for players to move the way Raiola does.
