Question for Ed one if I may please.
When I was about 14/ 15 so quite some time ago, I remember it being reported that we were bang on to sign Damien Duff (he was at Blackburn then) .
Was this ever a transfer? and if so any idea why it didn't happen.
Appreciate it was a while back, or even that it wasn't actually true. Just curious.
Thanks in advance.

{Ed001's Note - we were interested but not at the price and would not go near the wages he was offered elsewhere.}

His surname was very apt though - so good job really!

Seem to remember it's when Chelski first come into money and I'm guessing we put X on the table and Chelsea would say well give you X plus a extra 15% money talks.

2.) 17 Jul 2017 23:28:36
We decided it was better to invest the money in that scum bag el hadji Diouf and his side kick Salif Diao, Duff was twice as good as the 2 of them combined another great bit of business not!

3.) 18 Jul 2017 00:14:40
Always thought duff could of been a good signing. It was always him and Brett Emerton we were linked with.

Tonight was my favourite game under klopp to date. Fantastic atmosphere, great performance for so many reasons and big lessons learnt. Happy new year all.

1.) 31 Dec 2016 22:32:12
I didn't think the atmosphere was that good for much of the game if im honest. The fans were really only vocal in the last 20 minutes or so when Liverpool came under constant pressure. I thought the players seen the gamr out really well tho and if you look at it, even under pressure, not too many good efforts for City. A great way to finish 2016. Hope Hendo's heel injury isn't too bad, maybe a wee break for him next week.

{Ed025's Note - that can only help irish.. :)

2.) 31 Dec 2016 23:03:29
I was there tonight, and the atmosphere was electric for most of it, must be the TV audio or something.

3.) 01 Jan 2017 00:36:33
You really can't judge the atmosphere by watching something on tv, you can't have the noise of 60k fans over commentary and I guess it depends where they place the mics as to who you hear.

{Ed007's Note - Have you never watched a CL game at Celtic Park?}

Good morning Ed's and reds.
I'd like to ask a question or two if I may?
1. I think we are all aware of mr klopps past success in the transfer market with seemingly unheard names in the footballing world. Again we kinda seem thus far to be going down the same avenue. Now I like most (judging by the posts) hold a high regard for his judgement in the transfer market. Question is though, he doesn't have the same scouting team now though does he? Has he changed the clubs philosophy on scouting or is he the type of man who does a large amount himself?
2. We're one game away from champions league. Big IF, but IF we are successful tonight does the likes of Karius, grucic, matip please fans in terms of signing proven quality. like the majority I know little or nothing about these players, so is there an air of dissapointment that the players coming in are not higher profile?
3. Are we as fans expecting too much too soon. I personally think our current group of players need to do a bit more going forward so that we put an end to conceding daft goals, and become more prolific (not being negative, just think the level needs raising)
4.our actual current starting strongest eleven, who needs replacing?

All this aside buzzing about tonight and hoping for an awesome evening in Switzerland and Liverpool celebrating victory. Good luck lads.

In Istanbul

{Ed002's Note - 1. No he doesn't have his own scouting team nor has he change dthe philosophy of the Liverpool scouts and nor does he do the scouting himself.
2. Liverpool fans are traditionally obsessed with two things - "marquee signings" and the club spending as much money as possible - it doesn't really matter who on.
3. All football fans expect too much too soon.
4. The fans would like to see them all replaced by expensive players - it really doesn't matter who they are.}

1.) 18 May 2016 10:08:35
Think I walked in to them answers. Peraonally I am neither, a quality player can cost nothing, its the coaching and attitude that are most important, a price tag has no relevance. However if we signed Messi I'd be doing cartwheels for the next 12 months. Last question then please if I may? does the transfer commitee still exist, and have we heard if they put their two pennies worth in to our ppending transfers.

{Ed002's Note - Yes the transfer committee still exists.}

2.) 18 May 2016 10:30:48
Just on point 4, I think it's more about upgrading than replacing. Obviously, we could do with a better Number 1 between the sticks. Also, we need a long-term CB solution and another LB to play on the odd occasion when we actually want to defend properly.
I think there are players out there that would be an upgrade on Henderson, Milner or Lallana but there's no guarantee that we can get them, so that could be a slightly longer term process.

Remember guys, Macca only posts genuine rumours. He doesn't get involved with posting nonsense, therefore you would imagine his silence is based on there being nothing new to report.
Respect to you Macca and a big shout out to the ed's. The majority appreciate you and love your work.

{Ed025's Note - cheers mate..

Not being negative towards the lads but Lucas is ahead of Brannaghan and Stewart. Milner plays out wide more than he does cm.
Lucas has looked very sharp during pre season to be fair (I've watched 2 live) . Never mind the level of the opposition, he clearly has stepped his game up.
And probably due to lack of strikers more than anything but we have been setting up with a clear 4-3-3 formation. Don't see klopp working on a formation for no reason.

Why is Lucas clearly off? He's a central midfield player.

As souness said, defenders (he was refering to moreno's lack of poditional sense, and rashness in running up field to often), let the attackers attack and do what they get paid to do.
Point I'm making is, central midfielders break (when defending) up play and link (when attacking) play. Henderson is a wonderful example of this and if he played for say Stoke, is exactly the type of player we would be shouting at the club to buy. i'm fortunate enough to go to anfield on a regular basis, and believe you me we are so much better when Henderson plays.
From what Mk has said, zielinski sounds like the exact type of player we need for certain matches, and like ed01 said in some games you just need someone to get stuck in. My prefeence from the players I know extensively would be Kante or Gueuy (aston villa, please excuse my spelling) .

I would imagine the thumbs down are because you are trolling people.
What you're saying is your opinion, if people don't share it whether it be right or wrong doesn't mean other people are clueless, just that they don't agree with you.
In my opinion.

I don't believe Klopp is in anyway responsible for yesterday's result. The team he picked blew Everton away, and other than scoring more and conceding a ridiculous penalty that was an absolute walk in the park.
There are players at the club who need replacing to take us to the next level. I'm not klopps biggest fan, not by a long way but his players decisions are costing him severly.

Morning Ed01, is Henrik Lar sson on your list please? One of my all time favourite forwards.

{Ed001's Note - for some reason he had been missed off (Ed007 would be mortified!) so I have added him now.}

Hi ed,

I made the painstaking 6 hour drive up to Brighton and have not long got home and not had chance to watch the game back.
Agree with your comments r. e. mignolet, his kicking was truly abysmal mate, the fact that we had wingbacks at times made them look less crap to be polite about it.
Thought Lovren played very well, he actually read the game very well and looked very composed.
Can was fantastic I thought, Wiji looked extremely uncomfortable.
Milner made some very intelligent runs in to the channels and offered a different option on many occasions. I actually thought he played quite well.
Hendo was brilliant, his passing at times was sublime and always offered himself as an option. One of his better games this season.
Not much to add about the front 3, absolutely sensational.
We rode our luck a couple of times, Murray missed a very good chance in the first half, but so did Bobby (about 5 mins in) . Also Trent put a block in from the Brighton winger who came on as a sub, that was something you expected from a long standing experienced full back, fantastic tracking fair play to him and an even better block.
I know most people would think it was a good opportunity to give some subs some more minutes but I genuinely don't think Klopp could have. At 3-1 we still look and feel vulnerable.
P. S. Who was the penalty actually given against because I'm genuinely non the wiser.

In Istanbul

{Ed001's Note - I would agree on Milner's runs if we were playing a front 2, so his runs had a point. We played a front 3, which means he was just running into channels that were needed for one of those. He is just getting in the way, when what we needed was him to protect Wijnaldum and Can.

The pen was given against Henderson, though he was the one who was fouled, if anything.}

Changed your tune on Lallana ey MK. A few months back you thought he should be nowhere near the team because he had a big mouth. Nice to see you broadening your horizons!
This isn't a dig by the way, I was appauled when we signed him. How he's proven so many doubters wrong.
