Is Fabrice Hawkins some new Social Media ITK?

Seen a few places mention him and he's supposedly dropped that we've come to an agreement with PSG on Mbaye.

11

17 Aug 2026 19:20:34
I think it's Stephen's brother.

31

17 Aug 2026 19:21:54
Extremely reliable for all things French football. And he certainly isn't new.

23

17 Aug 2026 19:22:50
About as reliable as they come in terms of France news.

16

17 Aug 2026 19:23:35
He's meant to be quite reliable for PSG specifically.

8

17 Aug 2026 19:34:25
Stephen's brother. 😂😂

13

17 Aug 2026 19:41:39
Hawkins reported we have come to an agreement with the player, not PSG.

Liverpool agree contract terms with Ibrahim Mbaye on a 5 year deal, the player doesn't wish to pursue interest from Leverkusen anymore.

12

17 Aug 2026 19:43:17
He's absolutely top tier for French football.

6

17 Aug 2026 19:53:56
Yes, reported a deal agreed with player only, PSG not been approached about a deal according to Hawkins, so nothing new really, stand off in what we want to pay and PSG will accept apart from player wants us.
Click bait in my opinion unfortunately.

4

17 Aug 2026 20:01:32
Hawkins and PSG will inform is the equivalent of Joyce or Ornstein and LFC.

3

17 Aug 2026 20:05:40
PSG must have been contacted to give permission for Liverpool to approach him to discuss terms, right?

5

17 Aug 2026 20:10:53
Two PL Clubs bidding for BB, when it reaches £130 million Rayan's release clause will be "TRIGGER"-ed (Dell Boy and Rodney).

1

17 Aug 2026 20:19:50
If Leverkusen were paying £35m and we have to pay more than now, PSG has to accept the lower fee. Barcola turning down other clubs as well. So either they lower their fees or keep two unhappy players.

0

17 Aug 2026 20:39:00
Fabrice Hawkins is as top tier and reliable as they come for anything French football related.

3

17 Aug 2026 20:45:28
He was in the Darkness band, wasn't. I believe in a thing called.

4

17 Aug 2026 21:57:30
Fabrice Hawkins is basically the French Paul Joyce, a Tier 1 journalist who is 100% reliable.

2

17 Aug 2026 22:23:39
Liverpool shouldn't overpay, everything is in our favor, worst case, we go again in Jan and get them cheaper, in the meanwhile AI builds the foundations of current squad and we work work with what we have.

Hello eds and fellow reds fans.

I've recently attained a reliable source, so I'm only passing on what news he's shared with me.

Curtis Jones will definitely be leaving. He's told the club he wants a change, and my source has said having worked with him for only a short amount of time, he gets a strong impression that CJ thinks of himself very highly, to the point where he comes across as a bit of a bell. He says that he thinks there will be some news regarding this in the next few days as CJ has been open about the club's being close to an agreement for a transfer to inter.

Secondly, the barcola deal will likely happen more towards transfer deadline day. The negotiators for us are clear to PSG that their valuation of him is way above what the club are willing to pay, but are happy to ride it. However, there's a chance it might not happen if PSG continue to dig their heels in. If they do, we'll look at making a move for Yildiz instead, but time may scupper that move with it being dependant on whether Juventus can get a replacement in first or not.

Don't shoot the messenger, I'll continue to provide updates as and when I get them and time will prove my credentials with this.

Much love

24

17 Aug 2026 17:27:31
If this is all true, perhaps be a little more vague as to who the source is next time, eh? because you're putting someone's job at risk (again, if you're not just rehashing everything already said below by others ofc).

23

17 Aug 2026 17:40:28
Bang bang. Shot another one.

11

17 Aug 2026 17:44:00
Cheers Ron.

0

17 Aug 2026 17:47:48
Appreciate the info, but like Pete says, let's protect the source!

8

17 Aug 2026 17:49:47
Can't believe the source is involved in transfer negotiations. No wonder it takes so long.

13

17 Aug 2026 17:59:18
Thanks for the rumour 'the kid'. 😂
I can believe the source might know a bit about CJ, but not the Barcola stuff.

5

17 Aug 2026 18:03:26
That's the source sacked.

7

17 Aug 2026 18:16:33
Don't shoot the messenger. Sack the messenger.

14

17 Aug 2026 17:49:07
The source will have to get a job flogging rub downs above the local Chinese medicine store now, to questionable characters who pester him for happy endings.

5

17 Aug 2026 18:41:39
Thanks Ron. All sounds plausible, and you've stated you will prove yourself, not that you are another of the ITKs to spring up recently and we need to trust you. Plus, you didn't say 'make of it what you will', which is a dead giveaway.

2

17 Aug 2026 18:48:37
Do you have the source's national Insurance No., Mother's maiden name and Blood type by any chance so a P45 can be issued?

4

17 Aug 2026 19:01:45
Any chance of a happy ending then?

2

17 Aug 2026 19:02:52
The description of Curtis is pretty funny coming from the source, poor lad seems to have rubbed a few people up the wrong way, so to speak. As rumours go, it's a good one though, keep them coming.

2

17 Aug 2026 19:07:23
Good one, Rigsby.

1

17 Aug 2026 19:20:05
Da do Ron, Ron, da Ron, Ron, do Ron.

17 Aug 2026 19:02:13
Just came here to say that while I appreciate the submission, as like any other reader - this can be quite a reckless post. Ed's, might be worth removing as we don't want someone's job being put in jeopardy over this.

5

https://talksense.uk/uploads/thumb_83465ef516bbaf3fc5d18c1981c94341.jpeg avatar{Ed033's Note - I made some changes to the thread in case the 'source' is real.

You're not the 'source' are you? :)

8

17 Aug 2026 19:48:39
I am not. 😅

6

17 Aug 2026 19:58:12
PSG is holding us hostage. If they really believed Barcola is worth that much, they'd be starting him. They know we're desperate.

0

17 Aug 2026 19:45:53
Took 50 years for Deepthroat to reveal himself. Newbies here reveal their sources in 1st posts : p @ed025

2

17 Aug 2026 22:21:34
Ah, I missed the source. 😅

17 Aug 2026 22:21:36
'A load of old tosh!'....as someone else may say......

1

17 Aug 2026 22:34:59
A load of old tosh, Shankly!

1

17 Aug 2026 22:22:21
Nice work Ed's

17 Aug 2026 15:59:05
On incomings the chatter is more and more drying up.
I would think Barcola is still the main focus as he is big money signing and taking up most time.

But there are a few under the eye deals being discussed.

First is with Sociedad - I am not sure of the player.

And second is with Frankfurt for Chaibi. I can see it happen. They did sign a DM but well Chaibi literally plays everywhere in midfield.
Palace are closing in on him so someone is learning at LFC to get Palace players before Palace get them.
Don't kill the messenger.

3

17 Aug 2026 17:36:39
Sounds like good business to me, Baba, thanks for sharing.

2

17 Aug 2026 17:43:41
Cheers Baba, good rumour.

0

17 Aug 2026 18:01:57
"Under the eye deals" 🤔 cryptic.

2

17 Aug 2026 19:30:12
What does 'under the eye' mean?

Not a phrase I've heard in the UK before. Do you mean 'Under the radar'?

1

17 Aug 2026 21:01:14
It's the all seeing eye. Except for this transfer. Could be under the radar, I guess?

0

17 Aug 2026 21:10:53
Under his eye.

1

17 Aug 2026 13:42:52
After a few days of sound baths, meditation and weird chanting/drum circles. It's safe to say I'm not letting my wife pick anymore retreats. 😂

CJ is more out than in. He doesn't expect to be a LFC player come the window's end, the only way he stays is if we don't sign a midfielder. By all accounts we will see at least one signing in this area.

Despite all the noise, Macca still wants to leave but is in no rush.

People thinking Barcola and Mbaye will be announced as a double deal are wide of the mark. I know nothing of Mbaye but I do believe VG when he says it's a possibility.

Barcola may be announced this week as negotations are going well.

If Gakpo does leave, it won't be before this weekend and if he does then we will move for another wide player as I said earlier this summer, Rayan is the first choice to replace him. Whilst I was away, we have been back in contact with Bournemouth. I suspect Mbaye is the back up option to Rayan. Minteh and Prado are not of interest. El Mala is someone the club has been keeping an eye on.

As expected, a load of the youngsters will go out on loan with the exceptions being Nyoni and Koumas, as both have majorly impressed Iraola.

26

17 Aug 2026 14:04:29
Cheers Fields, hope the break was peaceful.

Do you think we will get more than one midfielder if Elliot, Endo and Bajectic leave?

6

17 Aug 2026 14:05:45
Cheers, Fields. 👍🏻 🍻

3

17 Aug 2026 14:11:34
Fields,
What profile of midfielder are we looking at?

1

17 Aug 2026 14:12:17
Thanks for the info.

According to other itks, Barcola was already done but just waiting for PSG to let us announce it?

1

17 Aug 2026 14:13:14
Haha, maybe your choice of retreat next time, The Fields. Jorge Mendes is Mbaye's agent, so tough to deal with. Romano says it's the fee for him, which is a snag. Hopefully Barcola announced this week.

2

17 Aug 2026 14:19:35
Nmaste.

7

17 Aug 2026 14:29:16
Rayan makes a lot of sense as he knows the Iraola way and that should speed up adapting to the changes. Rayan might get better numbers too with better players around him. I think for IA it's all about the team rather than individuals.

2

17 Aug 2026 14:30:17
Nice one, Fields! Bali was it?

2

17 Aug 2026 14:31:05
All very encouraging. Nice to see Fields back on the page.

Too many chancers posting on here lately.

9

17 Aug 2026 14:31:19
I don't want Gakpo to leave, feel we need his experience.
But I don't get Barcola coming in and Gakpo staying as both want the same role, and we ain't buying Barcola for £120m for him to play out of position.
Ideal world we sign Barcola and a right sided player, keep Gakpo as cover for left side and striker cover for one more season.
I was hoping with the new manager to see a bit more from Chiesa in preseason, but he has been overtaken by some of the youth players. So I think he needs to go, and I know it's not happening, but I would love Rio to get a loan to a Premier League team or a very top Championship side like West Ham or someone, to then come back next season to take Gakpo's place.

Harvey Elliott has not done himself any favours in preseason, I would have thought the same with him, new manager, new chance to prove himself, but seems way off it. His loan was dreadful last season, really poor choice buy Hughes to send him to Villa, a season in Germany would have increased his value, but god knows what last season did to it.

5

17 Aug 2026 14:34:59
Nothing worse than weird chanting Tf I've been there. Thanks for the information, brother. 👍

1

17 Aug 2026 14:37:35
@RD, The lads with contacts pass on information as they get it. The information is usually valid when they get it, but that doesn't mean that things won't change. What might be valid on Monday morning may not be valid on Monday afternoon, and vice versa.

As ever, nothing can be taken for granted until the club releases a formal announcement that a player has signed or a player has left the club.

5

17 Aug 2026 15:11:33
Thank you, fields, always.

If it's the latest information.
CJ out.
Another Mid in.

Gakpo out.
Should we finish with Barcola in + Rayan or Mbaye?

0

17 Aug 2026 15:17:50
Of course, MacAllister is not in a hurry to leave - he has seen the play book and will likely sign a pre-contract agreement with one of the Madrid sides in less than 18 months.
Not ITK, just my opinion. Honestly, I've never known a club to allow so much value just walk out the door as we have over the last 5/6 seasons.

6

17 Aug 2026 15:17:57
RD, everything is agreed in principle. The negotiations are around how the fee will be paid. Nothing more.

Az, I wish. It was up by Glenfeshie in the Caledonia Forest. Amazing place.

Bazza, I'm sure they stuck something in the tea as well. 😂

Nice one Digger.

Grino, I think Elliot will be out the door before the end of the window. As for Gakpo, I agree his experience will be invaluable. It seems the offer may be too good to turn down.

Ron, a Kone or Camarra type, but I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up with Wharton tho.

12

17 Aug 2026 15:34:00
Thanks, The Fields, great to have some clarity on things! And also, great to know Rayan is still very much in our thinking, much, much better option than Mbaye, I'd be a lot more comfortable letting Gakpo go if we bring Barcola and Rayan rather than Barcola and Mbaye!
Nice one, mate.

2

17 Aug 2026 15:37:47
Cheers, Thefields.

Hope your chakras are still intact.

So Barcola, Rayan and Wharton then :).

Re Macca - he's into the last two years of his deal which is inviting another contract situation. Or perhaps the outgoing directors are leaving that "turd" (the contract not the player before you all reach for your pearls) for the next guy?

2

17 Aug 2026 15:40:15
Great to have you back, Fields, and as per my post last week, from what I heard on the Bournemouth front, Rayan conversations have definitely happened.

As you say (and as I said last week), dependent on Gakpo.

1

17 Aug 2026 16:13:52
Choosing to believe this 100% just because it aligns with what I want haha. Getting Barcola to replace Gakpo seems like a good deal, but the massive hole on the right continues, and although Mbaye is a good prospect, I believe Rayan could improve us day one.

It's all good to prepare for the future, but we are seriously putting in jeopardy our present with the current squad. Ideally, we would have an even more experienced RW, but between Mbaye and Rayan, the latter is a better fit for now, and could also work as an CF when needed.

4

17 Aug 2026 16:59:32
Glad you enjoyed your break, TF. As previous, I think Rayan would be an excellent signing. Rayan and Barcola with a fit Isak/Ekiteke as CF is a mighty front 3. We require a midfield battler like Milner, though, for us to thrive. We'll see soon enough anyway.

2

17 Aug 2026 17:02:44
Cheers, The Fields, great post as always, and your holiday sounds very interesting.

1

17 Aug 2026 17:08:59
BobbyF, it's not as simple as just offering a player a contract. Sometimes there's nothing you can do. If the player decides they want to go, there's very little you can do. Trent for one.
New contracts aren't just free to renew, the club is also committing to paying the player, usually a lot more money, for years, and sometimes a club might not want that player.

Possibly Konate, definitely Salah.

1

17 Aug 2026 17:12:24
I believe Fields, Carra, Robbo. However, starting to doubt we'll sign a single player from now. Semenyo should have been bought 100% to replace Salah... better than all other suggested so far.

2

17 Aug 2026 17:14:17
Good info, no6.
Also add, good to have Fields back, more info the better for cross referencing etc, what's happened to Carra? He came back then gone again? If reading these posts, what's your thoughts on any of these rumours!!

1

17 Aug 2026 17:14:45
Thanks, TF.
Was there any nudity involved or was it all about the mental well being only?

1

17 Aug 2026 17:51:40
Cheers, the Fields welcome back.
Jonny, no.6, cheers.

0

17 Aug 2026 17:54:06
Haha. Hope you (or your missus) at least found your 3rd eye, mate.

0

17 Aug 2026 19:18:34
@Kloppdog, Yeah, I get it, which is why this summer is the one to tell his agent to find a club, or sign a new deal. This is on the club as much as the player and his agent.
We have allowed ourselves too often to be in a situation where players get to 18 months from the end of their contract, only to reject new deals and sit on the last year of their contract.

We are in a world where 2 years left on a contract is when it has to be renewed or the player sold.
How many other clubs have lost key personnel/first XI players to the same degree as LFC in recent years?

1

17 Aug 2026 19:33:19
Sound baths?
I grew up in Wallasey - the Derby Pool; Leasowe Leisure Centre; Guinea Gap and, of course, New Brighton, were all sound baths.

1

17 Aug 2026 11:12:40
Curtis wants to go 100%. But AI doesn't want him to leave.
Club trying everything for him to stay.

5

17 Aug 2026 11:38:46
Just cut the loss and get rid. He has a poor attitude and thinks he is above where he realistically is. Having a fight with your teammates over the captain's armband in a friendly was the last straw for me. He has not improved in the last few seasons and has been fortunate enough to stay due to being a scouser.

If we can get 30M for him now, let him go, as I doubt he will sign a new deal unless his play time this season increases to being a starter, which won't, as he is not better than any option we currently have.

Had the chance in my eyes to remain if he made himself more versatile and try to convert to RB but did not fancy it, it seems.

32

17 Aug 2026 11:44:55
I guess there's only one Dom the versatile then. 😂
Nah he should go. Nyoni can come through and we get Camara maybe.

Reckon our backs are sorted if Frimpong can keep it up with outstanding injury free performances. Our midfield will be interesting how we line up. Forwards are going to be aplenty. Going to be an interesting season.

7

17 Aug 2026 11:46:51
Keep, give a new contract. We are gonna need him with this new aggressive press, we need a big squad this season.
Nyoni will take Endo's minutes, I don't see Endo doing much in this style of football.
If Jones doesn't fit AI's style of football, then sell him next season.

10

17 Aug 2026 11:48:14
Fully agree. 👆

2

17 Aug 2026 11:54:56
Someone correct me if I am wrong, but CJ's contract is up next year so don't think we can sell him next year; if that's the case, he either goes next year free or, unless I am wrong, he will have 1 year left and value will be reduced.

Take 30m now whilst you can in my eyes.

13

17 Aug 2026 11:57:35
Not against him leaving if he's not committed. Ironically, his strength is also his biggest weakness. He's press-resistant, and can keep the ball, but he doesn't know when to release it.

If he goes, and we promote Nyoni, I still think we need another midfielder. Someone with physicality would be nice - someone who can pass from deep is even better.

9

17 Aug 2026 11:57:59
Endo played about 8 minutes last season, Nyoni will need to take the bulk of Jones' minutes or else he will want to leave. So, if we're keeping Jones, better to let Nyoni go out on loan.

0

17 Aug 2026 11:58:18
If he wants to go then sell him. We shouldn't have to persuade players to stay if they want to go then get rid, no matter who they are.

12

17 Aug 2026 12:15:06
Make of this what you will, guys, second property being prepped for arrival. Info is limited up to now.

5

17 Aug 2026 12:15:32
We won't even notice he has gone!
He slows everything down and is full of tricks in his own half.

9

17 Aug 2026 12:28:03
Potentially a very useful squad player.
He's versatile, and that's really useful when we already have gaps in the squad and several players who are seen as injury prone.
And he is obviously talented.
He just needs to release the ball a lot quicker, especially under our new manager, I feel.

So I was looking forward to seeing if Iraola could finally unlock his potential.
If he wants to leave, then off you go, and no hard feelings, but I would like him to stay and see if Iraola can bring out the best in him.

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - you cant make a silk purse out of a sow,s ear Mikey..

10

17 Aug 2026 12:33:14
He's had a couple of great games where he has been the difference, but they are the exception. He's a good player, but at a club like Liverpool he will always be a squad player. If he wants to be a starter, I can't blame him for wanting to leave, but I won't lose sleep over it.

3

17 Aug 2026 12:37:19
Sadly not up to the standard we need, and thinks he's better than he is; Man City in Rodri are showing Hughes and Edwards what to do with players only having 12 months left on contracts. We've thrown too much money down the pan, not getting decent fees and letting players go for nothing!! 🤷🏼

5

17 Aug 2026 12:55:19
There's a slight difference in quality between Rodri and Jones, Schultzy...
Plus, keeping Rodri instead of selling is very possibly the difference between them winning the league again this year.
So this is of no comparison.

3

17 Aug 2026 12:57:12
Like City just showed us the way with Bernardo Silva and John Stones, Schultzy? Not to mention Kevin de Bruyne.

Honestly it baffles me why people want to big up other clubs and slag off their own when all clubs lose players on free transfers. City more than most in recent times.

4

17 Aug 2026 13:00:26
I'd be inclined to agree with Skezza if Curtis is happy to be a part of a squad. Can see him leaving though.

1

17 Aug 2026 13:13:30
Jones is the least Iraola player ever. He lacks the work ethic, intelligence, durability and effectiveness. This is a bloke who was on record as saying Slot's slower, more passive style of play suited him far more than Klopp's, so I don't get why anyone thinks he suits Iraola.

I'd rather not renew his contract, as he wants the kind of wages you'd pay a starting midfielder, and he also wants a prominent starting role, neither of which he's earned or deserved.

Invariably, he's the least effective player on the pitch when he does play, and he's non-existent out of possession. Nyoni should be taking his minutes this season, and we should sell Jones, as he's never going to be a top class centre midfielder.

8

17 Aug 2026 13:14:48
Take the money now, next year he goes for nothing, and has he really done enough for a new contract?

3

17 Aug 2026 13:23:58
Off you pop, Jonesy lad. Best of luck to ya.

5

17 Aug 2026 13:26:46
I don't think he wants Curtis to stay specifically, but he probably has already been told that even if Curtis is sold, no one else is coming. I can see Iraola's despair trying to keep him.

2

17 Aug 2026 13:29:46
I don't understand why so many really want to keep Jones.
Yes, it's great to have Scousers in our team, but they have to still be good enough and he clearly isn't. Whilst he's good on the ball, press resistant, technically sound, he's close to worthless off the ball. He doesn't track runners, empties the midfield, and doesn't even run back when caught ahead of the ball. How many times have we seen Szobo, Nunez and Diaz (miss them both) sprint past a jogging/trotting Jones trying to get back!
He still plays like a teenager and not in a good way!
If he wants to be a starter, then he needs to go elsewhere, maybe a move will do him good and he can mature as a player, where he's judged solely on the level his performances.

We should just get what we can for him and look to replace with a more mobile midfielder with some defensive nouse/desire.
If he wasn't Scouse, was playing elsewhere and available on a free, I don't think we'd be interested.

3

17 Aug 2026 13:38:33
We need a Scouser in the team. And a Scotsman. And an Irishman. And a Welshman.

5

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - i can feel a joke coming on Rome.. :)

7

17 Aug 2026 13:47:41
Nowhere near good enough. Take the money and run.

2

17 Aug 2026 14:13:47
Milner played an entire year at LB. Not a sound from him in public. Szoboszlai played a few games at RB, not a sound from him in public either. And I clearly heard him say that "I will play wherever the team needs me to play" in an interview. These are the kinds of people and the mentality you need in a team.

And then, for Jones to throw a public fit over a few minutes with the armband shows his true colors.

Tsimikas ended playing an entire game with the armband anyway, so what did Jones achieve? I don't buy the current injury stories.

Better for all parties concerned to part ways. Wish him the best of luck, and the Ballon d'Or too, wherever he goes.

I'll try and keep it clean, Ed, but I'll no doubt upset a cross section of people if I were to come up with a punchline!

Hope you're well, mate.

Morning gents,

Club had a very very busy weekend, expect a lot of movement this coming week.

I mentioned earlier that Palace enquired about Jones and willing to offer him higher wages than Inter. Over the weekend Jones has officially rejected Palace, he wants CL football so obviously he'll have a better chance for CL + silverware at Inter.

Pedri's negotiations have halted, trust me when I say the club threw everything but the kitchen sink at him, for now he has rejected us but keep an eye out for this next summer, Iraola is a big big fan.

A verbal agreement with PSG has been reached for Barcola over the weekend, Mbaye negotiations still on going, but the club is wary of his agency demands.

My source is still confident that both deals will go through. Gakpo will stay despite recent reports, Iraola knows his versatility will be crucial for the squad, maybe a January sale to Spurs is more realistic, depending on Ekitike's recovery.

I was told Wharton is someone we would explore next summer, Nyonyi will take Jones' place in the squad for the time being but a few on here are very adamant Wharton is a serious target this summer. Can't see it happening myself especially with less than 2 weeks left in the window.

Signing out,
Iraola's areola.

17 Aug 2026 09:52:13
Makes the most sense about Gakpo as he covers striker.

Thanks, great post.

1

17 Aug 2026 10:01:27
Why would Pedri move to Liverpool from Barcelona? Total b*******.

15

17 Aug 2026 10:03:38
Always felt Gakpo needed to stay and cover Ekitike, never expected Wharton to come in unless Macca went out, clubs not going to spend 100m on a replacement for Jones. Sensible decisions.

7

17 Aug 2026 10:14:35
What's the lot of movement to expect, Andoni?

Reading your post, it seems to say Barcola will come in this week, but nothing else. Jones will go out. Both of these deals have been on the cusp of completion since the beginning of the window, so it's unclear what the activity of the weekend has changed.

19

17 Aug 2026 10:25:55
To be honest I thought Gakpo played at his best for us in the games he played as a CF. He's too predictable on the left but I can see him, like Munoz playing across the front three for us.

1

17 Aug 2026 10:32:10
"Expect a lot of movement this coming week."

Sure, this has been said 3 or 4 times this window.

18

17 Aug 2026 10:40:09
After the curry I had last night, it was only to be expected.

18

17 Aug 2026 10:43:35
Think you're right, WDW, on Gakpo. It looks very much like he's leaving though, to help fund the Barcola deal. We haven't raised any funds yet this summer.

Personally think it would have been better to offload Harvey, Endo and Chiesa and keep Gakpo, but maybe no one will buy them.

2

17 Aug 2026 10:46:33
Aside from the fact, Pedri isn't going to leave Barca, what would be the point of signing another box to box midfielder when it's blatantly obvious we need a midfielder who can actually defend.

10

17 Aug 2026 10:54:06
I thought it was Gavi we were going for.

7

17 Aug 2026 11:09:10
So "a lot of movement" is 1, maybe 2 in? In the last week before PL start? Jesus.

4

17 Aug 2026 11:12:08
Realistically Harvey, Endo and Chiesa are bringing in no more than £40m though. Also, Pedri, c'mon lads, that's Arsenal with Vini Jnr levels of lunacy.

5

17 Aug 2026 11:27:42
Cheers, AA.

Regarding Gakpo - from a business perspective, if you are having to buy in an inflated market, you should balance that against selling in an inflated market. From a player perspective, why would he want to hang around to be second choice and possibly even third choice when Hugo returns?

Not bringing in a midfielder this summer would be negligence.

Let's be honest, Endo's contract is probably worth less than £3m. You could terminate it early and tell him to move on if the excuse is squad size.

3

17 Aug 2026 12:51:11
Harvey Elliot's career at Liverpool looks to be over. Everyone seemed to get a fresh chance under AI, and Harvey seems to have blown it. I would also add Chiesa to that list. Got lots of opportunities last season and just seems a bit like a headless chicken. I remember him clearing one off the line during a match where we were being completely embarrassed by some team.

I liked his attitude and seems like a nice guy, but these two for me should be the first out the door. Then Scottish right back (can't remember name) and the big back up goalkeeper. I think he is very suspect.

We look so much more solid with Allison in nets. I hope we can go out and find a proper replacement because imo Marmadashvili is a Mignolet mark 2.

2

17 Aug 2026 14:07:11
Agree, Inbeta, never been convinced in Marma, and he's had plenrlty of chances to improve but failed.
Surely Alison can carry on for a good few years yet, he's not that old for a goalie, give him a raise and keep him, save splashing out.
He's the best for me.

1

17 Aug 2026 14:48:12
There will be a lot of movement with players both coming and going. Not all transfers are for players arriving, and the club still has to negotiate a price when a player leaves, or am I missing something?

1

17 Aug 2026 15:14:29
Pelican, if Endo is indeed worth only 3 million, doesn't it make more sense to keep him as backup for DM and CB? Even if he's at the bottom end of the squad of 25, he has enough experience and ability to do a better job than any of the kids at the academy, in case of injury.

1

16 Aug 2026 20:19:36
Well it looks like point 1 will be right Ed025

1. Barcola and Mdaye will be a double transfer announced at the same time.

Just need the other 3 to be right 😉 which they will be.

Just like Liverpool fans last season.

1

16 Aug 2026 12:22:51
So both Barcola and Mbey in the PSG squad to face Lens. Doesn't seem any deals done yet.

19

16 Aug 2026 12:48:57
True, albeit let's see if they play or not as they didn't in their last friendly.

8

16 Aug 2026 12:50:38
Deal(s) are taking so long. Hopefully over the line before the season starts.

6

16 Aug 2026 12:51:01
Isn't it better that they are training or playing than like Isak last summer.

39

16 Aug 2026 13:08:08
"No", it is not better that they are playing games. What would be your answer if one of them broke a bone, for instance, or something even worse, ACL? It would cancel any deal straight away. That's why Isak trained alone. Would you buy badly damaged goods?

Being in a squad is normal, playing "Russian Roulette" is not!

4

16 Aug 2026 13:17:00
So 007, with Gakpo rumoured to be out the door, would you want him sitting on the bench for us later this evening and not playing, but then, say, a deal doesn't work out, his fitness will have a slight drop? Would you be happy to see any of our players taking a back seat because they may be out the door?

Simple fact is, until a deal is public and he signs the contract, he is a PSG and will train and attain fitness with them. Ref Isak last season, he may not have injured himself training alone, but be built zero fitness, and we suffered as a result.

We didn't buy damaged goods due to injury, we bought unfit goods that meant his fitness levels were months behind where they should be. I'd rather any player we aim to sign still be playing until he becomes ours. If Barcola or any of our targets gets injured, it is our fault by not doing a deal sooner, but if not, we buy a player who is match fit.

38

16 Aug 2026 13:18:52
Really? And what if they break a bone first game for us, your argument is pure scutter, players need games to get fit.

21

16 Aug 2026 13:21:18
We've been told these are done. Told weeks ago.

6

16 Aug 2026 13:26:01
Same thing with Mac Allister. He had a "mystery" health and fitness issue throughout that summer, didn't train, and the season was one of his poorest.

And these are friendlies. All about tactics and fitness first. They all know this and I'm sure all players are made aware if it.

2

16 Aug 2026 13:45:13
It's dragging on way too long. Ideally they would have had at least some time with the squad or a pre season match under their belt, but it's a long season so hey ho.

Let's just hope all tied up early next week.

6

16 Aug 2026 13:52:12
I think you have to use your common sense when VG and Carra say Barcola is 'done'. Clearly it's not done or he'd be at the Axa training with the rest of our players.

What they are saying is that the deal is agreed and will happen. Until it's actually 'done' and he's signed on the dotted line, there is always a risk it could fall through.

There are so many people involved in these decisions on both sides that there could always be a change of heart from anyone, but, as far as they are aware, the deal is agreed and will go through.

21

16 Aug 2026 13:53:57
@chickeneki,

So you would buy a player with a broken leg or brand new ACL injury? Thank god you're not doing the deals for LFC.

Unless you're actually Hughes or Edwards, "Russian Roulette" does not work in football, PSG would be idiots to chance losing £250 million for both, especially when they are not permanent fixtures in the PSG team, and their replacements have already been signed.

Hardly used goods are a lot better going forwards than goods not fit for purpose ever?

1

16 Aug 2026 14:02:05
Chill 007, perhaps you need something shaken not stirred?

Patience, if it'll happen it'll happen. Obviously it's not all signed and sealed, but as Vic has said, it's agreed, so should be fine. Nothing guaranteed until pictured signing the contract and in the jersey! Keep the faith!

13

16 Aug 2026 14:11:29
007, who said they were playing? They're in the squad, which they were last week & never played.

What people are saying is they would rather they join us match fit than unfit. You really can't argue with that.

16

16 Aug 2026 14:14:12
@007, I don't walk anywhere near places that have roads, just in case I get run over. You are right - if there is even the slightest hint that there might be accidents then don't take any chances, stay home and be safe.

8

16 Aug 2026 14:43:43
Dear oh, 007, what a hypothetical and extreme take on it.

PSG will be happy enough to keep both, as they will be good squad players. The team has crazy financing and are not strapped for cash. They run the French league, so yes they'd ofc love 250, but would you be happy us paying a team exactly what they want rather than negotiate and get the best deal for us?

And, be interesting to see how Edwards is involved in a deal for a player to a club he no longer works at, so I'm sure he is watching to see if a player gets an injury.

As said above by others, we could buy anyone, and the day they sign could do their ACL.

Russian roulette, as you keep calling it, is just luck. We have gotten players who were fit as a fiddle and injured within weeks or days of signing, and had players come in and barely get injured. Just the way life works out.

I do, though, agree with one of your points. I am glad I am not involved in our transfer dealings, and would say the same about any fan. We are fans and have our bias', and it wouldn't be what's best for the team, just our own interests. For example, some posers are desperate for Rayan, and I am not too fussed on him. Maybe if he does well this season I will admit he is good quality. Until then, I am happy to wait.

7

16 Aug 2026 14:58:35
Blimey. Now we have to deal with posers on this site.

5

16 Aug 2026 15:24:50
Is taking the pee a bit. We are well behind in our usual business. I can't see we are concentrating on Barcola before other deals, very weird. Need several positions and barring the loan deal we've done nothing so far.

3

16 Aug 2026 15:40:21
We were told this deal was done, but it's not done done,
We are not looking hard enough at right back, and yes I know, the new lad can also play right back, well I would prefer an actual right back, trying to save money, waiting on Bradley, who I think is a great right back, but hardly ever plays or hardly ever can finish a game, I don't ever want to see Szlob at right back again, our midfield is so week without him,
It's so close to the first game, so I would prefer to have paid the money and have the replacement for Mo Salah actually playing in a couple of the preseason games.

2

16 Aug 2026 16:25:30
Our replacements for Mo are already at the club, Rio, and maybe Munoz.

Barcola is more of a Gakpo replacement.

If the teenager from PSG comes in as well, it looks like he'll be a rotation option for the right side, and will be on the bench most of the time.

4

16 Aug 2026 16:34:35
They are in this squad, probably been asked, but he will want to win medals, so he has one more chance with PSG. You wouldn't pass that up just because you're leaving.

Come on, I haven't seen them get many wrong at all, so a bit of patience and we should trust them.

2

16 Aug 2026 16:47:04
PSG is using the same tactic that Newcastle did last season with Isak. Prolong it until the final day of the window, when Richard Hughes had to pay 130M Euros.

I say we play their game and then walk away on the final day. They'll be stuck with too many attackers who will be unhappy. Edwards would never overpay for a player.

2

16 Aug 2026 16:49:17
Neither Rio nor Munoz are Mo's replacement; you must be having a laugh, 2 kids with no experience, give me a break.

8

16 Aug 2026 17:23:10
Agree, chewy, if we want to win the League again, then we have to behave or act like we want the best players coming to Liverpool,
Both Rio and Munoz have a great future ahead of them, but not this coming season,
We have right now a very thin, light squad, so many holes to fill,
Fingers crossed that we avoid any injuries, while our long-term injuries return to training very soon.

Some news, Joe Linton, I have heard, will miss a couple of weeks of the season, so will not play against Liverpool.

2

16 Aug 2026 17:34:59
Done isn't done till they're our player, agreed isn't done is it.
I agree a price for your car isn't the same as just bought your car and am driving off in it.
Unfortunate use of words several weeks ago gave a lot of people the impression it was an imminent arrival. Maybe future wording, avoiding the done word, would be beneficial to many who got the wrong idea and then commented on it not being done over and over.

Just a thought, maybe I'm wrong, and if so, then ok.
Looking forward to this Avis game. Need a good win to get us going.
Regards to all.

0

16 Aug 2026 17:37:47
PSG is standing firm. They want 160 million Euro for Barcola. Or he stays. Liverpool will drop the ball again just like with Guehi.

4

16 Aug 2026 17:40:59
"You'll never win anything with a bunch of kids", who once said that !!!
All the old gits put Yr thinking caps on.

1

16 Aug 2026 17:48:40
Fully agree, Chewy. If those are it, we're well and truly up the creek. Looking at the Arsenal and City line ups and subs today, we have a long way to go. Thank God we have Iraola, but he isn't a miracle worker.

3

16 Aug 2026 17:59:09
Looks like the previous story about Barcola being invited to watch closed door LFC match at Kirby now seems false, considering he's still in the squad.

4

16 Aug 2026 18:17:16
I really like this site and appreciate what the people with actual information give us, but this summer has fatigued me with the bs posting on here. It's a rumours site, but the constant stream of "my mate who works at a pub near Anfield told me " has been much worse than usual.

Barcola might happen, might not.

14

16 Aug 2026 19:00:30
Both on the bench, let's see if they get any game time...

1

16 Aug 2026 19:08:22
Correction: According to Fabrice Hawkins, neither Barcola nor Mbaye are left off the match sheet completely.

9

16 Aug 2026 19:18:19
Neither in squad... it's happening, isn't it. 😱

14

16 Aug 2026 19:21:27
Yeah, so neither are in the matchday squad. Presumably, that means that deals are not far off.

7

16 Aug 2026 19:53:43
It's done, all has been agreed. Just need medical and sign the dotted line. Neither Mbaye or Barcola are on the bench.

4

16 Aug 2026 19:56:11
This whole thread was completely pointless lol. They aren't even in the matchday squad haha. They must be going somewhere like. Hopefully, to us. Gakpo must be getting sold then, I would guess.

13

16 Aug 2026 20:58:26
Gakpo should not be sold.

8

16 Aug 2026 21:09:02
"Rio and Munoz Salah's replacement". If that's the case, we're finished.

3

16 Aug 2026 21:26:44
Agree they shouldn't be, Frode, but that's what it's looking like. We're not being linked with any right sided players at all other than a kid from PSG.

0

16 Aug 2026 21:31:47
@Frode, you don't replace someone like Salah directly. You adapt to suit the players we have.

8

16 Aug 2026 22:12:52
Chiesa is Salah's replacement.

2

16 Aug 2026 22:16:56
Both players are not even on the bench for the match, just confirimed. hint?

1

16 Aug 2026 22:33:51
Excellent thread, made me smile. To be honest, I've never understood the idea that 'somebody shouldn't play because he might get hurt'. It's a contact sport, and if you follow the argument through, you could come up with the solution that all games should be cancelled before they start in case there are injuries.

3

16 Aug 2026 22:35:41
Forgot to add that Gakpo played, so is he not going to Spurs?

5

16 Aug 2026 22:40:18
Maybe Iraola is content he will get the goals from Isak and his other forwards. Maybe our main star this season is going to be a left winger instead of a right winger? Things change. We don't need a like for like replacement for every player.

There isn't one for a start, and they have shown before that they are content to wait if a player is not available and not panic and put in someone who isn't the quality of fit their transfer policy.

4

16 Aug 2026 22:46:00
The Arsenal and City squads today were poor. Genuinely don't think they're all that at all. City were poor, Arsenal decent enough, but made to look better by how bad City were.

Either team will struggle against a manager with an ounce of tactical sense.

5

16 Aug 2026 23:05:17
I'd agree with that, Sailor Jerry. I think City have bought really poorly in their attempts to rebuild their squad. Haaland is probably the only world class player they have.

Arsenal are Arsenal. If the refs do their jobs properly, they will be lucky to finish 5th.

We had a poor season last year due to fitness not quality. This season will be very different.

3

17 Aug 2026 00:45:19
I mean, Cody played today.

So, following the vibe of what this means, Cody must be a million miles away from a transfer to Tottenham?

I've just been thinking that too, Faith. That's more worthy of discussions and speculations that whether Barcola and Mbaye would be joining us or not. ;)

3

17 Aug 2026 07:56:29
If a player is gonna break their leg, I'd rather it happened the week before the £100mil transfer than the week after.

2

17 Aug 2026 08:48:25
Agreed Frode and StEttienne. Rio and Jerry you're away with the fairys with that analysis. Wake up to reality please.

15 Aug 2026 19:25:29
Hi everyone, looking forward to the new season.
I have a close friend who works at Anfield in a minor ground role, but he suggests he heard that Barcola was invited to the earlier 'closed doors' match tomorrow and it is expected he will be there after PSG gave him permission.
He also mentioned there is another big name linked to joining Liverpool in the coming weeks that is not common knowledge, but would be an exciting prospect for the fans.

My friend is usually reliable, so at worst he was just lead on by others at work! Make of it what you will.

54

15 Aug 2026 21:02:08
Who's the other big name linked?

Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink?

30

15 Aug 2026 21:07:52
Bellingham? 😁

13

15 Aug 2026 21:08:25
Cheers, pinky. I like the method of passing on info you've gotten in a gentle manner. Interesting rumour. Let's see how it all goes.

29

15 Aug 2026 21:15:42
Good rumour - I'm a big fan of the 'friend works at the club' sort of rumour. I hope your friend is right. 👍

31

15 Aug 2026 21:17:20
Lads, the other big name is Shane Long, as cover for Isak. He'll do a job.

11

15 Aug 2026 21:17:39
Oh, no problem. I know there is a lot of BS that comes through, with AI assisting some well-worded entries :D - I have been tracking this site for years!
Personally, it's the first time I ever had someone with some links to the club, but it's at least something.

Hopefully he can confirm tomorrow if Barcola was there.

He would not give any clues about the other person, other than it's not someone previously discussed by the media.

27

15 Aug 2026 21:29:12
Nice, thanks for sharing! The pieces are finally falling into place, now with Mika Godts and Ferran Torres officially confirmed as PSG players.

Really hopeful/excited to see Barcola (esp) and Mbaye officially announced this coming week!

And perhaps Wharton / Bellingham / Pedri. 🎉 🎉

Which game is behind closed doors tomorrow, 11.30 or 6.00?

1

15 Aug 2026 22:03:00
The 11:30 game. There will be a live stream somewhere but no fans.

5

15 Aug 2026 22:03:14
@gmil, The 11:30 one is at Kirby behind closed doors and the 18:00 game is at Anfield.

4

15 Aug 2026 22:05:59
Mid-day is behind closed doors. 6pm is a packed out Anfield. Munoz looks a real handful as seen in that sensational volley scored after 34 minutes.

3

15 Aug 2026 22:06:26
According to the Liverpool FC website, the 11.30 match is behind closed doors, but both are on LFCTV.

I hope we put a fairly strong team out. I'm going to a friendly for the first time in a while. It'll be nice to get a glimpse of the new players. I've also not seen Rio live, so looking forward to that. My daughter's first game, despite living in the city on and off for twenty years, all good!

A big signing is meant to be happening, that's true, but Barcola isn't going to be in Kirkby with all that media.

Cheers Ed. Hope they reverse the fixture and get a trip to Como next summer.

Barcola will be there, never heard so much "tosh". I suppose he's getting the number 17 bus to Kirby, with dark sunglasses on, "drivel utter drivel".

The 70 minutes only game has just been aired on the Allred/LFC Channel: LFC: Mama, Ramsey, Endo, Chambers, Tsimikas, Nyoni, Mac Allister, McConell, Elliot, Chiesa, Munoz, all started for LFC. It ended 0-0 against Como's second team.

It was disjointed, boring, pass back first, pass forward last. If anyone is thinking of watching it, don't bother.

The cameraman recording it by the corner flag had more chance of being hit than the back of the Como net. Mass defence, park the bus, low block all rolled into one. Exactly what LFC are going to face in 90% of their upcoming PL season.

Midfield was very congested, both sides played well enough.
But, there's always a but, both Elliot and Chiesa need to be moved on.
Como had some good young players, well coached.

007 - I said Barcola had been invited to the match, not that he was coming to play in the match!
My friend was not able to get into the area during the match, but he does not believe Barcola was there. However, he still believes he is due to come later today though to look around the facilities.

Just to add, I'm not sure why you are often so critical of people's posts? Rumours are the whole point of this site, so why dismiss everything said? Seems a bit odd.
