Apparently there is disagreement between Edwards, Hughesโs and few others as to who they want as our next manager: Xabi Alonso or Sebastian Hoeness.
16 Mar 2026 19:23:39
Xabi, please. One of our own, young, wants to play fast-flowing, energetic football.
16 Mar 2026 19:24:56
Plus, Edwards and Hughes should be following Slot out the door. Bring Klopp back as DoF, Xabi as manager, and Stevie as assistant to learn his trade.
16 Mar 2026 19:39:41
Ultimately, the decision is down to Billy Hogan, and he wants Alonso.
He wanted him before Slot.
16 Mar 2026 19:46:30
If that's true, then it tells me that it's not going to be Alonso coming in the summer.
After all these months of shocking form & performances, they can't even decide their next manager in what could well be the most defining appointment since Klopp took over!
Clown show.
16 Mar 2026 19:46:59
Let's hope Billy gets his way and soon.
16 Mar 2026 19:51:12
Either will do.
16 Mar 2026 19:53:16
Got to be honest ... would be happy with either.
Mmmmh, wonder if we wait too long XA ends up at City ... There was some talk about that happening a few weeks back.
16 Mar 2026 19:58:58
I thought Pep was staying for another season.
16 Mar 2026 20:00:45
Edwards, Hughes and Slot need to go. It's a collective failure.
Hulk Hogan can go as well. Kane. Xpac. And Rakishi.
And that's the bottom line, coz LFC8 said so!
16 Mar 2026 20:01:01
Doesn't take much to get the panic going, does it, lads. ๐
16 Mar 2026 20:28:52
You're probably right, Florian, but even you must admit it's an absolute s*** show from top to bottom at the moment!
The total lack of accountability is bringing the club down, mate.
16 Mar 2026 20:55:50
Probably, but then probably not. For all we know, Alonso or whoever the club want is already more r less signed up nd sorted for next season. They're not gonna come out publicly, are they? It only takes for someone who's probably just buzzing off everyone to put up a post and people go into meltdown. ๐
16 Mar 2026 20:57:23
I know a lot of Liverpool fans are caught up in this romantic fantasy of Alonso coming home and reigniting this "deep bond" between him and Liverpool (the same man who has already turned down the chance to manage Liverpool at least once btw).
But, looking at this from a purely footballing perspective, Hoeness would be a superb choice and, in reality, a better fit for the club than Alonso. I'd also throw Nagelsmann's name into that mix too. Both play a brand of football much closer to the style Liverpool fans want/expect.
16 Mar 2026 14:51:05
Iโm not ITK and rarely post rumours, however, a work colleague based near our Berlin offices told me this morning that thereโs a strong rumour that LFC had contacted Jurgen Kloppโs agent about JK being interim manager until the summer. Just passing on what I was told and hoping it may be true.
16 Mar 2026 15:55:20
I doubt Klopp would want to come out of retirement for 8 games, mate. He would be having a hard enough time seeing this utter trash from his villa in Spain as it is.
16 Mar 2026 15:57:41
Would have happened by midday today.
16 Mar 2026 15:58:17
Hopefully your colleague can follow up on that. Re: JK's interest.
16 Mar 2026 16:05:58
Classic rumour, love it.
16 Mar 2026 17:14:06
The players aren't fit enough to play JK's style of football anyway, and they wouldn't get up to speed by the end of the season.
16 Mar 2026 17:34:20
Now this is a rumor... Absolutely love it.
20 out of 10... but only because it mentioned Klopp.
16 Mar 2026 17:39:36
Please be true and have a permanent option too!
16 Mar 2026 17:47:13
Really don't think it would make any difference.
16 Mar 2026 18:50:56
Sorry, Tosh1966, for the bad pun... That is a load of old tosh!
No way JK is coming back. It is common knowledge in the footballing world that the only job he will take is the German national team, be it later this year or next year, depending on what Nagelsmann does at this year's World Cup in the USA.
Red Bull are also considering extending Klopp's contract until 2029.
16 Mar 2026 18:58:21
More chance of Florian Musula getting the gig, where he would blame the players for his faults.
16 Mar 2026 19:49:28
Don't want JK back, he left a great legacy.
Arne Slot needs to go.
Wirtz missing his ideal partner in Ekitike, Szob missing his ideal partner Salah, and, even worse, playing at RB and Frimpong ahead of him.
Does he want to ruin LFC's chances?
Also, why was Gakpo on the pitch? Rio was a good choice by LFC fans to see more of him.
But, other than that, everyone.
16 Mar 2026 12:54:55
Well I got it wrong yesterday saying that Slot will be here till the end of the season. I know that there is definite interest from Ajax to hire Slot from this summer and it maybe that Slot's head has been turned.
I believe from what Thefields has said that there is a battle going on behind the scenes. My guess is Mike Gordon and Michael Edwards want Slot gone asap, but Billy Hogan and Richard Hughes want him to stay till season end.
Probably why there is a stalemate.
I genuinely think that no matter the result on Wednesday against Galatassary, he will be gone Thursday morning and Gerrard will takeover as Interim with the priority (damage limitation) being finishing in top 4, regardless of the results in the cup competitions and getting LFC playing decent football again.
16 Mar 2026 13:06:10
It's downright depressing that all the relatively easy fixtures were wasted on Slot, and now the interim coach will have to face United, Chelsea, Villa, Palace, and Everton. The remaining 3 are Brentford, Fulham, and Brighton. All challenging fixtures.
16 Mar 2026 13:09:22
Well, surely there is a decision maker. Can't have 4 people agreeing on a decision to be made. There should always be 3, 5, 7, etc., so there is never a stalemate!
16 Mar 2026 13:13:39
Wasted all the relatively easy fixtures on Slot, and now the interim coach will have to face United, Chelsea, Villa, Everton, and Palace. The remaining clubs are Fulham, Brentford, and Brighton. So, 8 proper challenging games for the incoming manager.
16 Mar 2026 13:16:06
If Hogan and Hughes want Slot to stay, even just till the end of season, then they should be shown the door too.
16 Mar 2026 13:21:21
Apologies for repeating my comment. The first one wasn't posted so I had to retype.
16 Mar 2026 13:47:36
If that's the case, it's too many cooks, not enough accountability. They must think they can just dither and that doing nothing is ok, unless, of course, they all accept joint accountability. If so, it's an FSG issue to resolve.
16 Mar 2026 13:53:52
Surely the disagreement isn't about Slot, but getting a short term alternative. While Gerrard is rightly a Liverpool legend, his record in management is not good. So, the question becomes, is it worth a punt.
16 Mar 2026 14:04:57
Jojo, worth a punt? How on earth is it going to get worse? We are heading out of the CL at present, outside the top 4, and have City in the FA Cup. We literally could not be in a worse place right now.
16 Mar 2026 14:57:32
Any views on Rob Page as interim, then get the new manager in, and he goes back to the U21s in the summer. Might be less hassle than Stevie G.
16 Mar 2026 15:03:38
Kpm, that's not the worst shout in the world.
16 Mar 2026 15:36:32
Following on from earlier... What I have been told is that the final decision has been made by Henry & Werner. John W. Henry wants what is best for LFC, and he is a results man with a deep analytical mind.
The decision will be made to pay Arne Slot off with compo, and bring in Steven Gerrard until the end of the season.
Xabi Alonso is waiting in the wings, so to speak, as all the ITKs have confirmed.
Sticking my neck on the line here, but I will be very surprised if Arne Slot is still here for the Brighton game at the weekend.
16 Mar 2026 15:45:22
Agree with KPM, Rob Page would be the better option. ED001 said SG wants the job on a permanent basis. Don't mind him as the interim though.
16 Mar 2026 17:22:11
I hope that's true, AYB. I'm sticking my neck out here also, but I'll say that, due to Slot's utterly mind-boggling refusal (or inability) to make tactical changes, improve intensity and fitness levels, persist with out-of-form players, and put our most influential player consistently out of position, it's almost as tho he wanted the sack to get the pay-off and return home.
It's the only thing that makes sense to me when it comes to this man's commitment to a recipe that has failed over and over again.
16 Mar 2026 18:14:55
Gerrard over Page any day for me. If Arne is gonna go before May (which I doubt), it has to be for someone who will inspire them short term. Someone they will have no choice but to run through a brick wall for. Gerrard's not stupid, if he's told the job would only be as interim he'd accept that.
16 Mar 2026 18:56:15
Florian, there is no chance that Slot stays now till the end of the season. I thought they might do, but after yesterday... it was the final straw for the upper echelons.
Win, lose or draw on Wednesday, he is gone by Thursday morning.
Remember Brendan Rodgers last game? Macca told us he would be gone no matter the result.
Same applies here to Slot. He is gone.
Gerrard will be in by the weekend, and Alonso will be announced by May.
16 Mar 2026 20:46:19
Arne, Edwards won't go against his mate.
16 Mar 2026 12:15:38
A little bit of a battle going on behind the scenes, I wouldn't expect anything happen prior to the Gala game. I suspect anything but us going through will be pretty much curtains.
I'm also told that Gordon, didn't want to do the round table b****** the other month, as he knows it was a PR stunt.
16 Mar 2026 12:38:41
Hope you're wrong on this one, Fields, but I respect you're sharing what you know, even if it goes against most of our wants.
16 Mar 2026 12:50:27
He should've been gone a long time ago, I don't know what they think is going to change by keeping him.
16 Mar 2026 12:59:18
Sounds like they're confident we will beat Gala, so in a way we don't actually have to do anything. Maybe, regardless, something may happen during the upcoming painful and pointless International break.
16 Mar 2026 12:59:55
๐ "If he loses his next game he's gone."
16 Mar 2026 13:01:45
Well, I'm actually glad there's some kind of battle going on ... it's just a shame it's not on the pitch!
Be interesting to see who the battle is between. How many are saying bye bye Slot, and who are saying, this is great stuff... our XG for number of passes is awesome ... let's keep him.
16 Mar 2026 13:02:28
Didn't want to take an 'L'. Any ambitious club would've sacked him in November to salvage the season.
His contract is only until 2027, so the compensation package couldn't have been massive either.
Absolutely egotistical men in the upper management!
16 Mar 2026 13:06:50
If the players find this out, put a tenner on us going out, cause they are not having him.
16 Mar 2026 13:17:56
If I hear "If he loses his next game he's gone" or anything along those lines one more time, I very well might lose my, you know what.
How many "next games" do you know? Like, the majority of us knew at the time, and have been saying for a while now, that they should have sacked him in November.
What a mess the club has made out of this!
16 Mar 2026 14:37:15
Probably optimism bias. Even some data geeks will have that every so often. They probably all thought things could only get better, so without making a change of coach, we'd work our way back into the CL places, and things could be reviewed in the summer.
Each week there's been some sort of justification for our failings, some of which, like key injuries, had credence. Eventually, though, you run out of games, and it's too late to make a change. We'd be at that point now if Chelsea and Villa weren't so poor.
16 Mar 2026 15:37:56
In fairness I'd doubt anyone sitting around that table last month wanted to be there. They all would have known it was a publicity stunt.
16 Mar 2026 17:37:49
Thanks, TheFields.
My apologies, but who is the Gordon that you mentioned in your post?
16 Mar 2026 18:58:18
Probably Mike Gordon.
16 Mar 2026 20:13:30
Noele Gordon.
16 Mar 2026 20:50:48
Mike JLC.
Alonso. I don't think it's necessarily a "one more game thing" but an "we don't make quick decisions" thing.
Ned, so do I, but you know how we operate. ๐
16 Mar 2026 11:26:35
Morning Gents,
Adam Wharton is wanted by Liverpool in the summer, I've heard they're going to put an offer in for around ยฃ70m.
There has been a lot of chat recently regarding this transfer.
Cheers.
16 Mar 2026 11:39:37
Any more on Slot this morning, Robbo?
16 Mar 2026 11:47:15
Am not sure he is what we need. Good passer of the ball, but does not seem to get round the pitch well enough. Only thing is, he does seem to sit in his position, which is something Gravenberch is not doing.
He does remind me of Michael Carrick, who was vastly underrated, and did help make Utd tick, and players who played with him all speak about how good he was.
16 Mar 2026 11:49:48
In the minority here, but I don't think this is the profile of the midfielder we really need. What we need is someone to come in and break up the play, be defensively-minded first and foremost, to provide necessary balance to the midfield. Wharton just strikes me as another ball carrier / progressor. Someone to keep the play ticking along, without ever really threatening, which we already have in abundance in the squad.
Elliott Anderson or Stiller would be my preferred move. But, I guess with Jones and Macca linked away, perhaps we do need this profile. I only hope we get a more defensive-minded midfielder at some point soon. Endo was clearly bought as a stop-gap, when Fabinho left, and yet we never did more after the fact.
16 Mar 2026 12:02:38
We need English players badly. I'd take him.
16 Mar 2026 12:04:28
I disagree, I think we really need a player like Wharton to replace what Trent did for us. It's true that we also need a ball winner in midfield, somebody more tenacious like a Joao Gomes who can be all action and rotate with Grav, but a passer from deep like Wharton or Stiller is absolutely absolutely crucial for us.
We've seen this season that when Grav and Macca need to make a crucial pass to split the defense, they can't do it. It's not their fault, it's not really their game, but without Trent we need somebody who can do that.
16 Mar 2026 12:12:22
I disagree, I've seen loads of defence-splitting passes from our players this season.
Unfortunately, it's our defence we are splitting as we pass the ball backwards and side to side.
16 Mar 2026 12:37:06
Now we miss Trent?
Actually, I didn't think we would miss him when he left, but I think we do. We simply can't initiate attacks from deep, and we are moving the ball way too slowly up front. Then again, even with Trent, we will be screwed. We totally lack the pace now. Only Frimpong is fast enough.
Gakpo is useless, Wirtz is slow, Salah has slowed down, and is seemingly losing his ability to beat any player. I thought Frimpong and Rio on the other flank was a good line up.
Once they are gone, Spurs have nothing to fear...
On the point of Grav not sitting to protect the defence, I wouldn't think it is his problem. He must have been told to do what he is doing, else, if he is supposed to sit and yet he is not, he will probably be replaced by now.
16 Mar 2026 12:54:31
I, for one, do not want any transfer decisions taken by the trifecta of Slot-Hughes-Richards. Get these lot out and then start rebuilding. A defensive midfielder should be the priority this summer. If no one is available, give a 1-year contract to Claude Makelele. I am sure he would do a better job of shielding our defence than the current lot.
16 Mar 2026 12:58:01
I think we need both, we need a good passer who can open up defences and speed up our transition, but we also need more energy and more competitiveness in midfield.
We need someone who's going to win the battles for us. Someone like Guimaraes.
We're too soft at the minute.
16 Mar 2026 13:04:21
Maybe a Jones replacement?
And still looking at a pro top level DM?
Anyone know if this fallout between Jones and Slot is affecting contract talks? Would Jones be happy to stay more so if Slot goes? Or is it regardless and about playing time etc?
16 Mar 2026 14:08:23
He is definitely an upgrade on McAllister. Damn, he was embarrassing in last night's debacle.
16 Mar 2026 14:25:52
Letstalkabout6baby, nothing new, mate, but everything is pointing to a Slot "sacking" and an interim, more of a when, not if situation.
16 Mar 2026 15:07:26
Great player and would add creativity, but not the midfield priority, unless Gravenberch is going to be told to play CDM again.
If he's not, then the midfield priority should be a Fabinho, Caicedo, Rodri, and, dare I say it, an Alonso-type player. Someone built like a CB that can destroy in the centre and offload the ball quickly when attacking.
16 Mar 2026 15:37:44
Why would we want Wharton we have Wirtz same sort of players i would rather have Elliot Anderson YNWA
16 Mar 2026 17:11:33
Wharton, Macca, Wirtz, all lightweight, slow players of the same kinda profile.
I agree with the majority, we badly need some physical, pacey type players. For me, this would be terrible news and would yet again show they don't have a clue, yet all the fans do.
My money is on Anderson going to United for Casemiro, and United will do a full 360 while LFC are trying to buy players so we pass the ball 1000 times and try to walk the ball in the net.
16 Mar 2026 18:42:57
Wharton is a quiche. We need a steak baguette.
16 Mar 2026 11:03:43
Hi Diddly Ho,
One to maybe back up that Slot may well be done this week, โmouthpieceโ journalists tend to have interest link with the club before articles are published. This is the first time one of the top tier ones has questioned support for Slot properly.
James Pearce has put out a piece saying that โArne Slot is haemorrhaging support.
The boos told him the clock is ticking.โ
I donโt have any new ITK knowledge from the past 24 hours but believe me, this is pretty damning in terms of Slot and his immediate position at the club.
Diddly out.
16 Mar 2026 11:44:40
From the same article.... "Slot hasn't reached the point of no return. He could still turn this around, but the clock is ticking."
It's not clicking fast enough to get this disaster out of our great club.
16 Mar 2026 11:49:42
Hey there, Ned!
I was just gonna post a question to the masses.
If we go out to Gala (because I cant see us keeping a clean sheet) and lose away to Brighton on Saturday, you think that could be enough for FSG to take action during the international break before the FA Cup?
I found myself looking at fixtures of Man U, Chelsea, Villa, and then realised it doesn't even matter who they are playing, as we just don't do our job anyway.
What are your own thoughts on this debacle? It doesn't scream everyone together for a bit of lost form or a bad month, which every team has a season of.
16 Mar 2026 12:03:43
Hi Diddly Ho Mighty,
Honestly, after last night's performance, and what others have posted here, I'd be surprised if he was in the dugout on Wednesday.
But yes, the international break would appear to be a good time to make such a big change. My thoughts would be that an interim would be most likely, purely because Xabi does not want to come in mid-season, which the club respects.
I know the interim idea wouldn't go down great with many fans, but any change now would be beneficial. These players aren't being pushed to their limits, nor are they believing in the approach from the current coaching staff. Yes, we (the club) pay their wages and they should perform, but when there is no real strategy on the field/tactics - I'm pretty sure I'd struggle to be at my best too.
16 Mar 2026 12:21:44
Surely, it's about CL qualification, and which decision - Slot out today, during the international break, or at the end of the season - gives us the best chance. I think most would say out today, with an interim until Alonso takes the reins. The compensation to Slot and his staff is insignificant compared to the loss of income from failure to qualify for CL.
16 Mar 2026 12:59:43
He's done in the summer.
He can only rescue this season by winning the CL, but he'll still go.
He doesn't look like he's up for the battle.
16 Mar 2026 03:57:27
Wanted to share some information from a reliable source close to the club and to be straight with you, I'm posting this because the level of misinformation circulating right now is frustrating to watch.
There are a lot of people on these forums and rumour sites presenting guesswork as insider knowledge, and fans deserve better than that. What I'm sharing below comes from an actual source with direct access to the club.
Current situation: Arne remains manager through the end of the season. That hasn't changed regardless of recent results.
Looking ahead to the summer, the hierarchy has a shortlist in place and Alonso is firmly among the leading candidates. Conversations are already underway at some level, though nothing is confirmed or finalised. From what I've been told, Alonso is genuinely interested in the role and sees real potential in the project but he's still weighing his options. The club is prepared to put a competitive package on the table to get this done.
Nothing is set in stone, but the direction is encouraging. Will update if I hear more.
Z.
Don't get this the wrong way, but this is what we have been told repeatedly here, nothing new. Why do you think we are calling for the heads of the gutless Hughes and Edwards? Wages are soaring, tactics and fitness are an eyesore, and we struggle to get much-needed transfers over the line, amongst others. Imagine a world where the Mancs now look upon us to have a laugh. Unacceptable!
16 Mar 2026 05:40:05
To quote Bud Coolidge, "Zed's dead, baby. Zed's dead."
16 Mar 2026 06:34:42
You have said exactly what everyone else has said. So please don't make out like you are better than them, it's not a good look. I will stick to listening to Carra.
16 Mar 2026 07:06:10
Appreciate the info, mate, but very much what Carra, Robbo et al have been saying.
16 Mar 2026 07:58:00
Give Zed a break... A few "ITK"s have said Alonso was already signed, or that Slot needs to win the CL, or... or... As a fan, I appreciate any and all info. :)
16 Mar 2026 08:38:12
It's a rumours site. All information is good information.
It's then up to each poster what they want to and do not want to believe.
16 Mar 2026 08:50:30
I'd just like to point out that this poster is not me!
{Ed025's Note - i think we all know that...the real Zed.. :)
16 Mar 2026 08:58:48
I am Zeddicus... No, I am Zeddicus... I am Zeddicus... Great movie that.
16 Mar 2026 09:13:44
I am Keyser Soze. ๐
16 Mar 2026 09:28:55
Zed's lost his head. We're playing that badly, he's got 3/4 usernames arguing with himself on his own posts. ๐
16 Mar 2026 09:32:47
I am the real Zed and so is my wife.
16 Mar 2026 10:11:08
I have been quiet all season but I have had enough of this s***. Something is not right, I would suspect a few players and the manager have to leave ASAP. This squad is too good to be losing to Spurs and Wolves in recent weeks.
Plus, the recruitment needs a good review as well.
If I was in charge, Salah, Gakpo and Slot need to be looked at moving on. Big summer on the horizon, we would need at least a LW, RW, CM, CB.
On the other outs, Robbo has been a great servant, but he is no Milner, so maybe it is time to part ways with this excellent servant to the club. If a decent bid comes in for Jones, I would consider it, but would like him to stay.
Again, a busy summer with lots of incomings. We need a manager to gel the team. Remember Houllier? He brought in a s*** load of new players into LFC and we ended up with the treble!
16 Mar 2026 12:15:41
I have to disagree. As far as I recall, the most popular opinion coming from ITK's, and shared by the community here over the last couple of months, is that Slot was done at the end of the season,
He was basically just working a notice and was told as much back in December, and that Alonso was essentially nailed on.
What's actually happening in the real world goes completely against all of that. If Slot was done he'd already be gone, and if Alonso was a sure thing he'd already be here. Which clearly hasn't happened. What Zedred is saying is the far more likely scenario.
16 Mar 2026 12:23:40
Which misinformation? What you've said is exactly what's being said here and in the mainstream.
In other news, the sun will rise tomorrow.
16 Mar 2026 14:55:34
Based on how some of these reports are written it feels like we're having to beg Alonso to manage us. I'd hope he'd be absolutely desperate for the job TBH rather than having to be convinced. He should be begging us to start him tomorrow TBH. I'd probably give him a game as well. ๐คฃ
15 Mar 2026 23:44:50
Very late good evening gents, but I've been told Slot is unlikely to last until the summer.
Gerrard in talks.
Cheers.
16 Mar 2026 05:14:07
I hope to God you are right.
16 Mar 2026 05:42:58
Gerrard needs help, even on an interim basis.
16 Mar 2026 05:56:51
I'd take Paul Gerrard at this point.
16 Mar 2026 06:24:00
The only person who needs help in a Slot.
16 Mar 2026 06:36:49
If Slot is in the dugout on Weds night, Galatasaray will be licking their lips. The team is adrift, and has been for months.
16 Mar 2026 06:39:18
Not sure Gerrard is the answer, but something has to change!!
It's all way too late though.
16 Mar 2026 06:47:25
I've been one of the ones who has stood up for Slot, but even I can't do it anymore. It's not improving.
I would prefer Alonso or Enrique in as permanent now rather than an interim though.
16 Mar 2026 07:32:12
Gerrard wouldn't be the choice for me long term, but till the end of the season I'm more than happy. Think he will do the basics right, pick players in their right positions and hopefully give the crowd a lift. People who leave it are going to Anfield bored s***less and can't wait to leave at the moment.

For sure, Gerrard would ruffle feathers and get the team fighting. Not a long-term solution, but right now we are watching a death by a thousand cuts.
16 Mar 2026 08:29:27
I just hope Gerrard's ego doesn't overshadow what needs to be done. Hopefully, he can instil a die for the shirt mentality that Klopp created and Slot has destroyed within 12 months.
Can't see us winning Wednesday with Slot in the dugout. But if he loses, that has to be it for him.
{Ed001's Note - at least Gerrard's ego was all about winning and wanting to be the best even in training, which is something we could do with right now.... yes I am looking at you Virgil.}
16 Mar 2026 08:42:25
In this day and age, everyone seems to need a carrot and a stick to motivate them. The what's in it for me brigade.
Not sure what that is for a manager coming in with potentially only 10 games to go.
You'd think the bonus money of qualifying for the CL would spur them on, but again, is a bonus to multi-millionaires really that much of an incentive?
16 Mar 2026 09:18:25
Told you all about Gerrard, as it's been lingering for several weeks. Cheers for confirming it, bud.
16 Mar 2026 09:11:54
Ed001 what is the problem with Gerrard Ed am not talking about his tactics am talking about the man himself that so may people don't like.
{Ed001's Note - he is not known for being a nice person mate. He spent his entire life being told how great he was, so he has developed a bit of understandable arrogance. On the pitch, it made him a great player - but did stop him developing the defensive aspects that would have made him the greatest player we ever had without question and led to him refusing to continue playing on the right for Rafa. To then have him talk constantly about how he would play anywhere for England and happily play on the left for them put people's backs up as well.
Then there were a few incidents, falling out with teammates that meant they left Liverpool as he and Carragher were in control of the dressing room. Some of it was silly, like falling out with Torres as Nando didn't want to go on a lad's night out midweek because he had a newborn baby.}

JL23, I think Stevie would relish the opportunity to manage his beloved club; he was part of it through highs and lows as a player.
Also, his short managerial career hasn't been the best, so imagine he comes in, lights a fire in these players, wins most of his games till the end of the season...
that would definitely raise his status as a manager for a job next season in the Championship or lower teams in the EPL.
16 Mar 2026 09:45:10
Right now I'd welcome Gerrard. I think that managerial ability is less important right now compared to getting some pride and hunger into the players.
16 Mar 2026 10:00:41
Gerrard with Buvac as his assistant, bring Big Sami back to show the team how to defend, and Fowler to show the forwards how to score. ๐
16 Mar 2026 10:21:39
If anything was going to happen, it would have happened by now. Slot should have been relieved of his duties after the Forest game earlier in the season, when there was some chance of salvaging a title challenge.
We'll get to Wednesday, we'll more than likely fail to beat Galatasaray, and then limp on to the next opportunity to drop points in the league.
At this point, giving Slot more time is beyond negligence and is straight up self-sabotage, as he clearly has no plan on how to fix things and it's evident that he's lost the players.
16 Mar 2026 09:44:08
Ed1, how good do you think he can be if he continues playing on the right? He doesn't strike me as someone who can consistently beat defenders one-on-one, but he can certainly whip a good ball into the box.
I remember when you said that his arrogance stopped him from developing the defensive aspects of his game. At that time, people were always raving about him making hard, crunching tackles and so-called last-ditch tackles. But as you said before, great defenders never need to make last-ditch tackles.
{Ed001's Note - I think he would have been even better than he was because he would have developed the defensive aspects helping to cover his full back and become the best in the world at the time, when he eventually moved central.}
16 Mar 2026 13:53:20
I'd take Klopp as interim haha.
16 Mar 2026 17:16:34
Stevie and Heitinga interim would be ok.
15 Mar 2026 20:17:44
Talks have been held tonight with Stevie regarding an interim appointment ahead of the midweek fixture against Galatasaray.
Big decisions happening tonight. Time could be up for Arne.
15 Mar 2026 22:18:05
Fingers crossed.
15 Mar 2026 23:02:45
Squeeee. One sleep to go!
15 Mar 2026 23:22:31
I hope Hughes is following him.
15 Mar 2026 23:51:04
To quote the song, "Champions League, you're having a laugh!!"
Now back to my poll. Out of 100 this season, where do you put us?
I've revised my number down. It's now 15-100.
I see nothing of any hope. Champions League won't be 5 places, only 4. We are effectively where we will finish.
Awful.
16 Mar 2026 00:00:27
Stevie
Gary Mac &
Gary O'Neil as coaches.
16 Mar 2026 01:59:24
Stevie, King Kenny, that would do for the rest of the season.
Might even get a Wembley trip out of them!!!
16 Mar 2026 02:03:12
The club are not backing Arne Slot, that's b*******. They are playing a waiting game, but enough is enough. That was boredom like I have never experienced yesterday. I cannot describe how bad we were.
Slot Out and Stevie in, please just got the last 10 games or so. ๐
16 Mar 2026 02:30:14
Gerrard needs to get Michael Beale back on his team if he ever wants to achieve anything again in management. He's been badly exposed without him at Aston Villa and Al-Ettifaq. Gary O'Neil is head coach at Strasbourg, so he's a non runner for this as well.
16 Mar 2026 03:16:06
Time should've been up 3 months ago, but ok.
16 Mar 2026 03:58:50
Absolute guff. Arne staying till end of season, read my post if you want real info.
16 Mar 2026 06:25:57
ZedRed, change the attitude. Your post has been posted a million times by other trusted sources, so don't suddenly act like the bearer of knowledge. It's a rumour page, and we take them all on.
16 Mar 2026 06:52:47
It's all way too late. We have a decent run-in, so it's salvageable.
I just can't see the club doing this now, when they did nothing when the form was so much worse earlier in the season.
16 Mar 2026 07:57:40
Decent run in?
Villa, Utd, Everton away.
Chelsea at home.
Plus Brentford, Fulham, Brighton and Palace.
Nothing decent about that. Then again, no matter who we would have to play, the way we are currently playing, coupled with so many behind the scenes issues wrt players and the manager, we are going to struggle against these teams.
16 Mar 2026 08:32:05
I am with most of you on the 'coach needs to go' belief, but I am not sure that this is the time to do it, not only because the new coach will be chosen by the two imposters at the top, but making a change so late in the season, with a lot of the players we are relying on now looking to move on in the summer, does not make a lot of sense.
It's obvious that Jurgen's philosophy has now been stripped bare, and we and the players are no longer believers.
In the Edwards v Klopp battle there was only ever one champion among us fans. Now we are witnessing the results of Edwards being in charge of the club.
16 Mar 2026 10:38:10
Bictor Goddam, I can't see this being true or happening. Well, certainly no decision made yet. Slot will see out the rest of his contract, unless he decides to walk.
