To get away from the transfer drama for a bit. How are people feeling with the first game coming up?
I'm pretty excited despite the lack of signings. Really keen to see how Quansah and Bradley get on this season, both seem to have very high ceilings. Also Elliot and Szoboszlai playing in more advanced roles will be interesting.
Grav gets a lot of stick but he is still very young and maybe this system will suit him more.
Overall I think we have a very talented squad and I can't wait to see how Slot decides to use them.

TBH I’d start Elliot over Szobozlai, he seems to have gone a bit backwards recently. Maybe worth trying him on the right to give Salah a bit of a breather occasionally.

2.) 15 Aug 2024 12:35:29
I think we will have a bit too much for them and think we will win 2-0.

3.) 15 Aug 2024 12:45:52
I'm looking forward to it but I think we're on the decline.
Mainly because we don't have the outstanding front three and Klopp anymore. We look to have more quality in midfield but it looks unbalanced. Maybe the midfield could compensate for the drop in quality up front but I really think we need a top class number 6.
That's not the manager's way, I'm led to believe, but we have to give him a chance.
I think we've been spoilt recently and I'm lower my expectations this season but will that be the case when the whistle blows at 12.30? ?.

4.) 15 Aug 2024 12:57:05
We looked good in preseason and I'm eager to see will we carry that into competitive footy.

5.) 15 Aug 2024 13:12:45
Can't wait! Esp seeing Elliot and Szobo in their proper roles, rather than trying to be shoehorned into a midfield 3 or out on the wing.

Bring. It. On.

6.) 15 Aug 2024 13:15:18
I think we batter them. 4-0 for me. A real Premier league baptism of fire.

7.) 15 Aug 2024 13:28:44
I'd start same team as we started against Sevilla. I see no need to change. Elliott is unlucky to miss out on starting place.

8.) 15 Aug 2024 13:44:22
For a change I'll be able to watch it at a reasonable hour. Normally watching in Aus but about to land in Cambodia, so a nice 6.30 pm start .

9.) 15 Aug 2024 13:48:57
Looking forward to the season starting but I think Everyone is underestimating Ipswich. It’s got the look of lasts years Luton game.

10.) 15 Aug 2024 14:12:25
Three points is all that matters but I would love them to go out and really make a statement,

11.) 15 Aug 2024 14:19:45
We win 3-1.

Salah, Jota and Nunez.

12.) 15 Aug 2024 20:03:53
Will we concede first JK? Ha.
I agree, we win, Nunez starts on the bench and comes on and scores the last goal.

"Not being champion by a point is not a great experience but it's an experience. " Klopp at his last press conference. I think that actually sums up his time with us perfectly. It certainly has been one hell of an experience, ups and downs and everything in between.
Thank you Jurgen for everything.

Klopp's time here simply reflects life in general, IMO. Ups and down, rollercoaster rides taking your lumps and learning from them, winning some and losing some and getting knocked down BUT having the botttle to get back on that horse and go again. A Rocky-like story, if you like and we can all relate to thsuch a story.

The fact that during his tenure, he is ONLY second to Pep (for obvious reasons) in trophies won only shows how great he has been and how all the other PL managers could never hold a candle to him. Danke, Jurgen! .

"I liked the game a lot tonight with the desire and power the boys show. It was incredible from them. " ""We won the game and that was the reaction we wanted to show. "
I must have watched a different game.
Thank you Jurgenn for all you've done, sad it seems to all be ending with a whimper.

Damage limitation imo. He was definitely watching some old youtube highlights :) He knew how atalanta plays and still managed to play into their hands. Genius :)

2.) 19 Apr 2024 10:12:25
Seriously? I guess these days, no matter what you did, just one stumble enough for you to get all the bashes, sarcasms, the disrespect and all.

I already know that I should never come here whenever we lose games or trophies. And yet here I am. What's wrong with me?

3.) 19 Apr 2024 10:22:17
We were really good for the first 15 minutes with quick progressive passing and good movement and then as the game went on we reverted back to players taking too many touches and our slow pointless passing. 20 passes along the back line 30 yards from our own goal before somebody turns back into trouble or tries to dribble through 3 opponent players.

The second half was dire. No passion, no urgency and no plan.

3 games now without a goal from open play and after Salah unforgivable miss half way through the first half I can't remember us creating another decent chance.

4.) 19 Apr 2024 10:31:21
Klopp also said Trent was incredible in the first half which is mind blowing to me. Even my missus who knows nothing about football asked who was playing right back because there seemed to be nobody stood there every time we tried to attack or play out from the back. He played a few really good passes but he won the penalty on the one occasion he actually made a run down the right side.

5.) 19 Apr 2024 10:47:40
Maybe his man management is better than yours? Instead of making headlines trashing players and deflecting blame he is still taking it on the chin and doing his shouting behind closed doors .

6.) 19 Apr 2024 11:42:16
MK that made me chuckle.

You should have married Gareth Southgate. He knows all about right backs and has around 13 of them in every squad.

7.) 19 Apr 2024 11:48:43
Time for trent to stick in the deep lying playmaker role with McAlister further up and Bradley RB then we might actually have some width as well as players who can find them.

8.) 19 Apr 2024 12:24:56
I thought we were really good early on.
But second half was slow and crap again.
TAA I thought showed some class with his passing but you could tell he wasn’t fit and he was subbed off far too late. I hope he gets fit soon because he does bring something else to the team.
Tactics though again were shocking.

9.) 19 Apr 2024 12:31:00
Klopp sayin we played well etc . he got to find some positive spin on it . we need to find our spirit from somewhere, ya never know, the players might actually belive him n put the performances in. league is still there for us. hard I know but possible.

10.) 19 Apr 2024 12:41:48
@DirtyMic2ElectricBoogaloo, If you think Klopp will bash the players by calling them out name by name the way you would then, I fear that football analysis is simply not for you.

11.) 19 Apr 2024 13:09:35
It's pretty disrespectful to a really well drilled Atalanta team to just say we were cr@p. I genuinely don't think I've seen a team so successful at cutting down all passing lanes and pressing to make simple passes difficult. They were 3-0 up, they played the perfect gameplan to make sure they went through overall.

Only thing that could have made a bit of a difference would have been some more direct running through the middle of the park, try to disrupt the man-marking and create some space, but it was a very difficult team to play against.

So proud of this team, the kids did brilliant and the fans were amazing.

Can't say I'm a fan and I don't think Musk would be a good owner but the level of hate seems a little unwarranted.

Salah has been consistent for years where does this narrative about a drop off after the contract come from?

Nice analogy Vango but I think it is a bit flawed. Trent grew up supporting the club so I'd imagine he has a much stronger attachment to it than one would for a company they had worked for.

Just ribbing you Nevada mate. I hope you are wrong on this one and Chiesa can come through for us. At least we have 5 other good options in attack either way.

Really hope Danns gets more opportunities. He did really well last season before his injury. Looks cool in front of goal and makes good decisions. Still early days of course but I think he has a lot of potential.

DirtyMic2ElectricBoogaloo

{Ed025's Note - nice kid as well Mic..

We used to frustrate utd when they were in the ascendancy, we are just on the other side of it now. Bad performance but Slot and the team turned it around well after Forest so I'm hopeful they will do it again. We are still in a good position as many have pointed out.
