Is it just me or were those 3 games today dire? Was really looking forward to seeing 3 great games but was disappointed on all 3 counts! The worst was Man United v Chelsea. I sympathise with MU fans over the state of the football. And what has happened to Arsenal? Man City were ok-ish in the first half and great in the second half but Arsenal were dire! Think Gary Neville was OTT but on the Arsenal page they agree with him. A great Saturday (Liverpool, Scotland, Ireland) but a poor Sunday. As a footie fan I expect better!

Believable7 Unbelievable3

25 Feb 2018 23:46:33
Nevill was hard but I don't think it was ott - they're sixth, their players were walking round the pitch ducking out of tackles and couldn't string five passes together. I'd say aubemayan although poor, was the only one running around at least, chasing balls. Wing backs didn't run at their opponents, midfield didn't move and the defence was weak. Ospina looked like he had a mistake in him every time city got close. If I was an arsenal fan I'd be exstatic if anyone could give me a positive from that game. Going to Wembley for a cup final and not being fussed? Maybe he positive is that they should be fit for Thursday after putting absolutely no effort in today, but then again, who would you want starting out of that team?

26 Feb 2018 09:36:23
Well at least having Southampton as a feeder club is sort of working for Liverpool. How is the Everton retirement home doing for all the ex Man Utd has beens over the years? 😉.

26 Feb 2018 17:11:45
not bad if you're a manU fan tho aye!? was expecting that to be a naff game, but it is all business when the top 4 teams are jostling for position.

26 Feb 2018 17:15:23
All awful mate

3 good games I thought we were going to get. Oh well.

25 Feb 2018 18:49:00
Interesting names in the Under 23s tonight.

Clyne at RB and surprising to see Joe Gomez is having a game at CB. Bit of warming up for that role in the future perhaps?

Solanke is also playing, he could really do with some goals for a bit of confidence!

Believable8 Unbelievable1

25 Feb 2018 19:07:41
Bit late with the post. Solanke got a hat-trick! Chuffed for him.

25 Feb 2018 19:32:57
Nice for his confidence. Did you watch the game? if so how did Gomez do in the CB position?

25 Feb 2018 19:51:29
Planned to watch it but got the kick off time all wrong! Keen to hear if anyone did watch. Hopefully I can track down some highlights.

Bit odd to see Gomez in the Under 23s but nice at the same time that he got some game time at CB.

25 Feb 2018 21:06:59
I haven't been able to watch them much at all this season sadly. If you remember, I was doing weekly updates on the U23s and giving match reports but time doesn't allow that anymore. Someone said they would take over for me but that hasn't happened unfortunately.

25 Feb 2018 18:38:06
question for the eds, with City after winning the League Cup, Jamie Redknapp said that this team as the potential to dominate the league and europe and that other PL teams should be very afraid, so my question is, how far do ye feel Liverpool are away from this City team, it was mentioned on Sly sports that Liverpool could be potential Champions. So goalkeeping issues aside, or assuming we get a top class keeper, how close or far away is this team?
Thanks Eds.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed025's Note - not very far away i would say kev, once naby comes and a top class keeper then i believe liverpool will be serious competition for city, injuries could be a factor of course as i dont think the reds squad has a great deal of depth, but as a team they are not far off mate..

25 Feb 2018 20:29:51
Ed25.I really do admire your assessment of our team, especially as you’re an Everton fan, fair play to you mate.

{Ed025's Note - im a football fan drogie and just say it as i see it mate..

25 Feb 2018 20:33:57
Starting 11 not far at all

Squad miles away.

25 Feb 2018 21:02:52
Thanks for the reply Ed25, I tend to agree with your assessment. I do think Naby will be a massive player for us, hopefully we can get that top class keeper in. I think possibly another CB but I feel VVD will improve every cb we have at the club. Our defence already looks to be improving with every game. But i do agree, our squad depth still needs improving, but as far as recruitment has gone under Klopp, we have drastically improved I feel compared to recent years. Hopefully we continue on that trend.

YNWA.

{Ed025's Note - i think you will kev...and its breaking my heart mate.. :)

25 Feb 2018 21:24:14
We are not far away at all from City, as Ed25 has said. We need to get in more players in the mold of our quality front three in other areas of the pitch to help us get to that next level. Also, consistency needs to be improved and we need to SERIOUSLY cut down on points dropped from winning positions as that is what is killing us (linked with consistency issues) .

As per squad depth, I recently saw Pep making a fool of himself, saying his team lacks depth as he only has 16 players to choose from right after they drew with Burnley. Yeah, go figure. The manager of the richest club, is complaining of lack of depth. As for our depth, we need to upgrade that as well and the GK, we'll have to see what happens cos if Allison is a non starter and Navas (I pray, does not come) then Karius is who Klopp will turn to as he signed him and IMO, STILL wants him to be no. 1 BUT Karius will have to keep getting it done till season's end and he's on pace to achieve that.

25 Feb 2018 22:42:28
Pep is overrated and Arsenal are a shadow of themselves. This is city's year in the premier league but I really don't see them getting to the cl final which with the money on show, should be almost expected. I think as soon as a few teams desperate for points go out and play them towards the end of the season we'll see the cracks showing. I think if we'd played karius sooner the gap would be a lot closer. Ifs and buts I suppose.

25 Feb 2018 23:50:08
I think we would be in for a shout in the next few season, just I fear city are just getting better and better. Jesus, sterling, silva (the other one) sane, stones, ederson, mendy and others, are all young and improving, de bruyne has years left and if he keeps getting better, and the defence are pretty set now for a few years too. They will recruit too and of late it's been excellent.

26 Feb 2018 06:07:46
You have a point Firmane but don't forget a team can only play 11 players at any one time. I think what is also apparent, and also important, is that how the team functions as a collective is the key. i think we are building an excellent, cohesive team that works for one another and functions well as a whole. The sum of cities parts are probably better, I mean they are oozing world class players, but as a team I think we are actually pretty close. Our issues this season, though not as prominent, have been related to consistency and motivation against smaller sides - City have been ruthless in that respect whilst we have much room for improvement. If we can improve on that, add a couple of top quality signings in summer, then anything could happen next season. As it stands Champions League qualification is vital - if we miss out we face the prospect of missing out on top targets, that has to be the focus this season.

26 Feb 2018 17:12:48
it will be really interesting to see whether Pep is the silver bullet that brings consistency to City. They usually go up and down year to year like Chelsea do. It's like their players put all the effort in for a season then get bored of the manager and take a season off! I think he will, but equally interested to see how well Pep can maintain the run with these lads.

25 Feb 2018 17:47:49
Paul clement shamelessly touting himself on football focus.

25 Feb 2018 18:21:56
Missed it. What was he saying?

25 Feb 2018 18:57:37
Kept talking about managers when asked about players. It was just obvious that he was there to advertise himself. Did 5 minutes talking about himself then went to a story about West brom. I think it's great to have managers on it but it is just too blatant sometimes.

25 Feb 2018 21:05:28
1 thing for sure he's good at playing boring football.

25 Feb 2018 21:25:05
Rubbish manager who got a job by just belong an assistant to great managers.

25 Feb 2018 17:45:31
Worrying the way salah said "I'm enjoying my moment here" I'm probably reading too much into it but did sound like he is only going to be here for a short while.

Believable2 Unbelievable6

25 Feb 2018 18:38:42
haha, ok.

25 Feb 2018 18:55:30
It is the best way to be! enjoy him while he here and hope we win things along the way!

25 Feb 2018 21:25:51
Supersalah, and you are surprised because, exactly?

25 Feb 2018 22:41:16
I know brover but we need to stop selling our best players if we want to win this league.

26 Feb 2018 06:10:46
And we need to start winning trophies and challenging consistently if we want to keep our best players. We have barely been in the Champions League for the better part of a decade, we have had a one-off challenge for the league in 13/ 14 season and, after that, done almost nothing. If we continue our current trajectory for the upcoming seasons we should be making the Champions League, challenging for trophies and, with those factors taken into consideration, attracting a higher calibre of player. When that happens you will see more of our big players staying for the long haul.

26 Feb 2018 08:43:13
You make it sound so easy Seano. you're right of course dude.

26 Feb 2018 17:16:35
Think he just recognises that this is a moment and probably next year will be a lot tougher. Surely he can keep this goal scoring record up. He will be after shearers record before long haha.

Liverpool v West Ham - A Liverpool Perspective

25 Feb 2018 16:29:49
{Ed's Note - Tris Burke has posted a new article entitled, Liverpool v West Ham - A Liverpool Perspective

Believable6 Unbelievable2

25 Feb 2018 16:41:35
good review Ed001 I do wish we would stop being sloppy when we have a big lead at 3-0 with 30mins left we should not be letting soft goals in, if it had got to 3-2 we would have gotten nervous, however once it became 4-1 that was the time to bring the subs on, solanke for example needs more than 3mins to show what he can do.

{Ed001's Note - I did think the same about subs, but it takes them so bloody long to get ready these days Klopp might well have told them to do so the second the 4th went in!}

25 Feb 2018 18:36:14
Can't blame Liverpool for things that could have happened, we shipped 1 goal not 2 or 3.

I think we are all agreed that with such an attacking style we are always going to leave spaces. Robbo was some people's man of match but he can't do everything. We let in a goal, so what? We scored 4.

25 Feb 2018 18:51:05
Good review ed. Not saying karius is the answer but I don't feel so panicked with him in goal. Maybe given a run of games he can step up another level. Hope so.

25 Feb 2018 19:50:52
I was at the match yesterday. Sitting in the Kop and I was impressed with Karius he had 2 saves of note from Artunovic both were decent hits from the striker. I was more impressed by a wee ball he played quickly while still lying on the ground. Seems like nothing but if it was Simon he would certainly have stood up then looked around and West Ham would have been in a more defensive shape . Overall it was a good team performance and Milner was motm for me .

25 Feb 2018 20:15:55
Thanks ed1. Didn’t get to see the game yesterday so always good to read your review. Nice to know Karius is still impressing. Hopefully he can nail that number 1 spot and make it his permanently.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

25 Feb 2018 20:29:57
we need to stop switching off is all im saying 3-0 up 30mins left, the fans can relax the players need to concentrate for the full 90mins, we saw against man city what happened when we gave them some encouragement, the better teams will punish you, if we can improve our game management then we can start achieving things imo.

25 Feb 2018 21:37:48
Great read, Ed. A couple of points, tho. Bar the goal and assist (which on any other day, is a great day at the office), I thought Emre Can was pretty poor esp. in his decision making, sloppiness in and out of possession (see the way he carelessly lost the ball on the WH goal) and seems to need 3 touches to release the ball. He seems to have stiffness in his hips (due to his size? ) which prevent him from turning swiftly to keep the flow of play going.

Matip was dreadful in the first half. I could not believe how he was out of position a lot, labored so much under pressure from Arnautovic to the point of getting bullied by him. I do have to note that he came out better in the second half BUT it is a worry cos if he's struggling vs Arnautovic, what will he do when a true striker comes calling? Lovren should be the one next to VVD, IMO.

Also, great to see that Karius is getting it done and growing into his role as no. 1 and that save onto the post was crucial cos we go a goal down there, it would have been MORE difficult and at that point, anything can happen.

And finally, David Moyes is STILL a Football Genius.

26 Feb 2018 07:14:08
Agree Brover, i had one eye on Can that match and saw nothing i wouldn't expect of any other PL midfielder except plenty of wayward passing. Despite his potential, i am beginning to see why Lfc are not desperate to keep him.

26 Feb 2018 08:52:05
Cheers for the review ed. love David moyes 3 points every time. Should be more like him in the league.

{Ed001's Note - yeah he is lost tactically.}

26 Feb 2018 17:13:05
acered - maybe it's more a case of Karius having a few games so the fans can feel more at ease!?

25 Feb 2018 13:15:54
Hey ed002,
About this time last year you said that Klopp briefed certain members of the media about transfer targets etc. You said yourself this was a bad move and I agree 100%, but does Klopp see it as a bad move and will he be doing it again this season do you think?
The reason I ask is because Paul Joyce, one of those that was briefed last year, came out with a bit of transfer news last night and mentioned a couple of names even.
Thanks in advance!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It backfired on him and I would think that the club would be livid if he did it again.)

25 Feb 2018 16:41:10
Thanks for the response ed.

25 Feb 2018 16:51:02
its February the summer is way off, the only thing klopp needs to be doing atm is making sure Liverpool finish in the top 4, we need to learn from our past mistakes, not go on repeating them.

25 Feb 2018 17:41:20
Klopp has learnt. He has kept the squad fitness levels much higher that they were last season.

25 Feb 2018 18:52:54
Don't See him going to Blackpool anytime soon!

25 Feb 2018 21:38:27
He'd better not be doing that again.

25 Feb 2018 15:04:08
Appreciate De Gea is one of the best in the world and has credit in the bank but if Karius let that in the pundits including Carra would smash him.

Believable17 Unbelievable1

25 Feb 2018 15:15:29
also if he had tipped that shot on to the bar we would not have heard the last of it, it just goes to show how irrelevant football pundits are, they have a agenda to work to given to them by there paymasters. De Gea as you say is still a brilliant goalkeeper and one mistake won't change that, let's hope we can benefit from a rare error from him on march 10th.

25 Feb 2018 15:27:41
Yeah but to be fair DDG has been doing incredible for years, Karius has played well for weeks. Karius needs a few more good months before the critics will get off his back.

25 Feb 2018 15:57:41
You earn the right to escape criticism on a poor day. And that guy has earned the right.

25 Feb 2018 16:14:34
Agree with you there lfc8 however the job of a pundit is to call it as he sees it, saying De Gea made a mistake is not saying he is a poor goalkeeper, pundits should not pick and choose which players get a easy ride and which ones don't, that's what drives me mad they are so inconsistent, long may karius's form continue btw, shame he lost his clean sheet yesterday.

25 Feb 2018 16:31:31
This has to be the most boring game of the season!

25 Feb 2018 18:58:59
I think we're confusing the pundits role. They're there to drive debate, discussion and CLICKS! They are the visual form of clickbait!

25 Feb 2018 21:44:34
Pundits are like weathermen/ women. They are never wrong even tho, they have been clearly wrong and run their mouths all the time, trying to have it all 30 diff. ways. I do agree that DDG had a poor game (the goal was not his only mistake) and that should be mentioned and but it does not mean he suddenly became a crap GK. And if DDG is lauded for making the exact same save on to the bar that Karius made to keep us at 0-0, he should get credit for it as well. But since this is not a perfect world, expecting pundits to be fair to those they actually like to use as whipping boys, is like asking for the U. S govt. to ban gambling in Las Vegas.

26 Feb 2018 08:54:19
De gea has obviously had his head turned by Madrid. It explains his error 😂.

25 Feb 2018 13:45:25
Hope palace can hold on, and spuds don't get a dubious penalty as alli diving a lot again.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

25 Feb 2018 13:54:03
That bloody Harry Kane!

25 Feb 2018 13:54:56
Ah well, hard luck. But we create our won destiny, not rely on others to slip.
Forget what Spurs do. LFC's target should be to win all matches we play.

25 Feb 2018 15:17:01
well said IB win all our remaining matches and a top 4 finish is ours, we are in a very good position let's keep it up.

25 Feb 2018 21:47:11
If we win our games, it won't matter what other teams do just like we did in the back end of last season where we won 5 of or last 7 including our final two games (got 10 out of final 12 points with 0 goals conceded) and t did not matter what Arsenal did. It's all up to us and that is where you always wanna be.

26 Feb 2018 11:21:51
Actually BRover it's even more true this season - last year we still needed others to drop points for us winning to matter, this year it's entirely in our own destiny with matches against United and Chelsea ready to let us catch up/ build distance on them.

25 Feb 2018 13:34:18
Anyone else think a draw would be the worst result today? At least if Chelsea win were a point clear of both, and of United win we have a gap to Chelsea! For once I wouldn't hate a untied victory.

Believable2 Unbelievable6

25 Feb 2018 13:46:21
For me it's a win-win situation. Either the team directly above us at the start of the weekend or the team directly below us at the start of the weekend, or both, drop points, so we benefit.

That being said, neither team is going to drop out of contention over today, we still have to play both of them away and still need to look after our own house, so I'm not too caught up about what's the best or worst result.

Personally, I want Man U to lose entirely because I dislike them more than I dislike Chelsea.

25 Feb 2018 16:10:00
I changed my mind, wanted Chelsea to win!

25 Feb 2018 16:42:10
4 points ahead of 5th place with 10 games to go 👍.

25 Feb 2018 13:33:48
maybe I'll get slated but watching the spurs game at the moment there getting nowhere and I'm seeing what I seen in our game and the Rochdale game throwing themselves to the ground looking for penalties tut tut.

Kane in the 89th minutes. Say nothing next time mate :p.

25 Feb 2018 12:21:48
Hi ed001

Wanted your opinion please on Henderson. He is out captain and he didn't play again yesterday, I appreciate he has had injurys but must be fit as he was on the bench again. The fact Keita and another CM will arrive were do you see him fitting in next season given We have Ox Gini and Lallana also.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - so what opinion do you want? You haven't asked me anything. I don't know what on earth you want to know.}

25 Feb 2018 13:03:26
Imo, we have big problems in central midfield but in terms of ability, Henderson is the least of those problems. He's the most consistent player we have there and the only reason he's in and out of the team currently is because his fitness is being managed.

I find it odd that your post seems to put Lallana ahead of him despite the fact that Lallana's game time is being managed even more than Hendo's.

The only worry I have with him is if the injury problems are going to be ongoing from now. We saw what that did to Sturridge.

25 Feb 2018 12:59:01
Is Hendo having injury issues again Ed? I haven't seen him training together with the lads in the videos posted by the club during the trip to Marbella.

{Ed001's Note - he is not fully fit no. Possibly never will be again.}

25 Feb 2018 13:54:21
Thank you for the reply Ed, much appreciated. It's such a shame as a fully fit hendo would be the first name on the team sheet every week IMO.

25 Feb 2018 13:58:06
Hence the interest in Jorginho. Hendo's role as a regular first team player at LFC is over if his injury issues keep flaring up time and again. Klopp sees this and its time to act.
A midfield of Keita, Jorginho and OX will do for next season. Has a combination of tough tackling, precise passing, long range shooting, workrate etc.
Hendo will still be captain but will be used sparingly.

25 Feb 2018 17:55:14
Bad for Liverpool and bad for England. Such a shame as I feel Hendo was just hitting his peak.

25 Feb 2018 21:16:45
Sorry ed I just wanted your thoughts on were you think he will fit in next season given the likely arrival of 2 more CM's.

{Ed001's Note - he will be in and out of the side due to his injury so he should be fine to be a rotation option.}

26 Feb 2018 11:24:40
Hendo is the perfect player for us as a rotation option if he agrees that to manage his fitness it's the best way - good enough to be in the First XI, but happy to be rotated and sit games to keep fit.

25 Feb 2018 12:03:10
My stream kept dying yesterday that by second half it was unwatchable. Anybody have any reliable streams I can call upon for future matches not on tv and anybody feel like giving a match review while they are at it? Would really appreciate it folks!

Premierleague-lives. net worked well for me yesterday. One eye on the rugby and one on the football a perfect day for an Irish Liverpool fan lol.

25 Feb 2018 12:52:27
sportlemon. tv is decent.

Whichever site you’re going to use to stream, make sure you’re using a VPN. makes a huge difference to reliability. and potential detection! 😉.

25 Feb 2018 14:04:45
Streams2watch. eu is always reliable. I never miss a second of any of our games. A gem of a site im sharing with you good people. IF the link to the game is problematic just go to the Television menu and choose the appropriate channel. It Always works.

25 Feb 2018 14:08:11
Much appreciated guys. Would love the club to stream every match. Would gladly pay for a season pass. Someday soon I imagine.

25 Feb 2018 17:10:54
I normally watch streams on ronaldo7 . net There aren't that many games on there but around 30 different links to HD streams for each game.

26 Feb 2018 11:26:09
A twitter account @lfc_Iive posts links to independently hosted (and therefore less likely to be over-used) streams about a minute before every game starts, highly recommended.

Perfect result yesterday. Going to add massive pressure on UTD which is what we need.

I do not believe anyone expected City to run away as far as they have with the League this season. We are second and signs are starting to show that we are able to compete.

Klopp just needs to add the missing pieces to the puzzle. One player already over the line in Keita. This coming summer going to be a massive one. Looking forward to it!

Believable4 Unbelievable0

25 Feb 2018 18:40:21
This summer will be good coz of the world cup but I usually dread the summer. Boring, no footy. I think if we finish top 4 we will have a better chance of signing top talent this summer.

25 Feb 2018 10:39:50
I can't even put into words how much i love Firmino, Salah and Mane. They all seem to be playing like they're best mates now, which just makes it that little bit more entertaining!

Mane taking the micky out of Firmino's kung fu celebration was my favourite moment of the season so far because it just shows the togetherness of the squad and it is always brilliant to see Mane smile after he's seemed down for so long. It put a smile on my face!

I just love this team. Klopp might not have won any trophies, but i am well and truly entertained and I've never felt more in love with the club. The trophies will come, I'm sure. How can they not with our front 3?

25 Feb 2018 11:04:24

25 Feb 2018 11:11:17
You know I was thinking about this the other. Remember our team under Hodgson? Can you actually believe we let Hodgson manage our club? Christ we were terrible.

25 Feb 2018 13:49:21
If things continue and we add more quality to the side. Then trophies won’t be far away.

25 Feb 2018 11:36:32
Best case scenario is a 0-0 draw.
Second is Man U losing.
Third is Chelse winning.

No other outcomes are palatable in the slightest.

25 Feb 2018 11:59:16
Spurs and UTD losses for me.

Chelsea have lost the plot under Conte so yes 3 points will see them hot on our heels but they are bound to drop more points with behind the scenes issues taking over at the Bridge.

More worried about Spurs who are in good form and UTD with Mourinho aiming for one goal and shutting up shop afterwards.

25 Feb 2018 07:58:30
Missed the City and Spurs game due to work commitments, so was glad t be at the match again yesterday.

The reason I mention being at the game was because of one stand out player for me yesterday. Andy Robertson.

He had a brilliant game and when you watch him live, you really do see how much energy and effort he puts in. He also made the Mané goal from start to finish, from the edge of his own 18yrd box.

Sorry pressed send too soon.
My point was going to be that the booing in my opinion is part of the acceptable part of football banter (pantomime villain) but if you add the chanting and seeing it’s all unacceptable.

To make it even worse, it was “Kick it Out” weekend.

25 Feb 2018 07:46:52
Hate to write this but I’m embarrassed by Liverpool fans yesterday. I was at the game and the booing at Evra was in my opinion on the right side of the line. Hernandez (little pea) came on towards the end and got the same treatment.

But when kop fans started singing Luis Suarez song I was thinking, is that right or is it still on the line.

However when they started singing “your just a lying b******”, they got it so wrong.

It was only the one time each (Luis Suarez song and chant) that I heard from where I was sitting (Kenny Dalglish stand) .

The press have focused on the booing.

Believable8 Unbelievable7

25 Feb 2018 08:02:54
I heard it too but Evra lapped it up. At one point he just turned to the crowd and smiled.

Agree with you re the Suarez song though, a bit much really. But that’s football and certain chanting by a minority will always be there.

When it comes to United away in two weeks, the whole stadium will be singing murderers, it’s the same every time I’m afraid.

25 Feb 2018 08:17:25
I didn't hear the chant directed at Evra, but I thought chanting Suarez' name was too much.

Suarez was/ is a wonderful player, but we all know he has/ had a dark side. He was found guilty of the offence with Evra and of course a few others. I think he falls neatly into the flawed genius category.

So, whilst I would like to think that the Evra incident was a heat of the moment thing, it happened, it was completely unacceptable, and we should accept that. Boo Evra all we like for being a Manc, but to celebrate Suarez at the same time is a little tone deaf in the current climate. Also, how do we think young Brewster feels if he hears our fans celebrating Suarez in such a way.

Think Liverpool fans are best in the world, but that was a little tone deaf yesterday. I have no problem continuing to idolise Suarez the player, but please not when Evra is on the park!

YNWA.

25 Feb 2018 08:17:37
Evra's a big boy and should be able to deal with the chants. Sterling and Suarez deal with such fans at every away game.

25 Feb 2018 09:07:24
You're excusing the fans' vile chants by saying Evra should deal with it.
Chanting Suarez's name or calling Evra a lying bastard is tantamount to racism and bigotry.

25 Feb 2018 09:11:54
Unfortunately liverpool fans are no longer the best fans in the world. Maybe 20+ years ago but not now.
Undoubtedly there are some cracking fans even on this site but some of the actions of our fans have made us loose lots of credibility.

25 Feb 2018 09:40:12
Kiddfan, got to agree with you on the Brewster comment, very good point.

Suarez was a great player but what he did was wrong and its embarrassing that certain fans were backing him and targeting Evra when he was the victim. It doesn't matter how good a player is, racisim should never be supported.

{Ed025's Note - i agree george..

25 Feb 2018 10:17:52
Boo Evra because he’s an ex Manc, fine. But giving him abuse because of Suarez stuff is out of order, as Evra was found not to be lying by a fair process that also cleared Firmino.

25 Feb 2018 10:53:51
Are you for real Indian Buzzer?

Suarez racially abused Evra and here is no excusing that. The chants were absolutely disgusting and completely lacked class. If you don’t see that then I’m lost for words and you’re just as bad.

25 Feb 2018 10:59:08
There’s always been bad behaviour by a minority at football matches Walter and that includes at Anfield.
Fortunately it’s still a minority.
Fans really need to move on from the Evra debacle, I’m certain the club don’t want to be reminded of it.
Forget Evra, forget Suarez, cheer the current heroes in red.

Only times I’ve booed at a match were once, a long long time ago, when stewards removed a streaker 😳 and the AC Milan penalties at the Ataturk but I doubt I even had a voice left by that stage.

25 Feb 2018 11:11:35
Really people?
I have been the subject of racial abuse myself since moving Down Under. It's pathetic that people resort to such vileness but there is nothing u can do about it. We need to accept that such people do exist and they are not going anywhere.
So just take it on the chin and move on.
If Evra was taunted with respect to what happened between him and Suarez, he has to deal with it and move on because the fans that get on Evra's back will not cease to exist just because they don't know the social boundaries.

25 Feb 2018 11:18:21
suarez covered himself in glory again yesterday by trying most tricks in his locker to get booked which would see him suspended for barca's next game, an objectively easy game against las palmas rather than risk missing a more important league game. he ultimately failed however.

25 Feb 2018 11:19:31
Sorry IB, I think we can do something about it. Society moves forward and these behaviours gradually get removed from society by education.
These days being labelled a racist is one of the biggest stigmas going and I celebrate that fact.

In the heat of the moment, one on one, there probably is little you can do about it. Yesterday Evra did “deal with it”. Doesn’t make it right and doesn’t mean we shouldn’t all challenge it and make our feelings known widely.

25 Feb 2018 12:33:59
I have watched Liverpool for nigh on 42 years. To say the fans had more class 20 years ago is misdirected. I have stood on the Kop in the early eighties and the munich song was sang by the whole ground.
We will never turn Football fans into a group of wellwishing choirboys. Its a tribal sport and fans try to make a difference either by encouraging their own team or barracking the opposition. Take Raheem for instance, he left the club, was, rightly or wrongly vilified for doing so and everytime he returns to Anfield he gets subjected to constant berating. He struggles to perform and I think that is part due to the heat he gets from the fans. The game is evolving not just on the pitch but off it too. I think we are however a long way away from singing lullabies and shouting endearing compliments to opposing fans and teams.

25 Feb 2018 12:50:42
Nice story Ron lol.

25 Feb 2018 14:29:57
Lets seperate Evra being able to deal with this type of fan banter and Evra having to deal with it at all. Totally agree with the tone deaf comment. definitely think those fans let themselves down. Bigger that, or at least they could have been.

25 Feb 2018 14:45:42
I am not saying it was right to chant but to say it was racist no it was stupid and childish and no need for it.

25 Feb 2018 14:46:13
Evra also deliberately set Suarez up with the fake handshake afterwards. That’s why I would have been booing him.

25 Feb 2018 14:47:15
Calling Evra a 'lying bastard' is not RACIST! It is however not acceptable. We have all seen ourselves lately that is easy to use the racist card. The incident with Suarez was handled very well but I do feel that the victim (who started the incident with a reference to Suarez' origin) got off scot-free as did the player who assaulted Firmino recently. It is ridiculous these days that fans abuse players of other colours as the vast majority of teams have such players themselves.

25 Feb 2018 14:49:11
Did the French fan grin and bare the kicking he got from that lying person Evra just as bad as Suarez bite so stop being saints, he got what he deserved and should of got a lot more . Sorry but I am not one of the PC crew.

25 Feb 2018 19:45:06
The point is the lying bastard chant referred to one incident and one incident only, and that was the Suarez situation. It was disgraceful and in essence backed Suarez, just like the players and Kenny mistakenly did with those t-shirts. The process found Suarez guilty, like it or not. The same process also just cleared Firmino so either you accept these procedures or you don’t but let’s not try and have things all ways. It was embarrassing and disgraceful and no doubt why Klopp sought him out at the end. Hang your head in shame if you joined in with that chant.

I don't see how essou-ekoto can come back from that, he'll be out for the rest of the season soothing those burns!

Thank you Ed.

{Ed001's Note - welcome all.}

Didnt Ekoto say he was giving up football to star in bongo movies?

25 Feb 2018 11:21:18
“Ronaldo showing once again that he is a better human being than Messi or Neymar. ”

Yes he’s climbing the ratings out of all the tax-dodging scumbags 👍.

25 Feb 2018 11:23:27
Cheers ed. Fair dues to Ronaldo and at the same time you see Suarez behaving like a little snake.

{Ed001's Note - it is what Suarez does best sadly.}

25 Feb 2018 12:10:45
MK, I remember a few years ago messi was on a hat trick and gave up his penalty for Neymar as he hadn't scored for a while. and people said then that Ronaldo would never do that and messi is the better human being. I wouldn't get too caught up in it mate it swings in roundabouts, some celebrities do things to help their public image.

24 Feb 2018 23:07:41
I think we've got so much to be excited about, the way we are playing, not just today but the majority of this season so far has been an improvement on last season we're looking truly special. It's been some time since I've been this excited about the future of our club.

I think on the performances we've been putting out we can beat anybody in the world, I genuinly believe that! forget the Barca, RM, City etc etc we are Liverpool and we're moving forward there's no doubt about it. I mean look at our team it's a unit, it's a proper team, a team effort sure we will have blips from time to time but this happens. I think Klopp is absolutely fantastic and the right man for the job, sure he's made plenty of mistakes but what manager hasn't you know? he is afterall only human.

There seems to be a big debate about Salah and Firmino, who is better lol I love them both, both put 100% in (as do most of the team these days) but if I had to choose a favourite it'd be Firmino, the lad is just unbelievable and I wouldn't swap him for ANY player. Salah knows where the goal is, he's absolutely fantastic there's no doubt about it and he's another one I wouldn't swap for anybody but to me Firmino just has it ALL and what I find exciting is since Coutinho left we've been playing better football, scoring more and Firmino is the better player without Coutinho in the team, atleast in my opinion he is?

The defense is looking a lot more solid these days, with quite a few players to thank for that, most notably VVD, Robertson and TAA/ Gomez. I just hope to see a more permanant line up in regards to the defense, I'm not particulary fond of the rotating going on but who am I to moan? it seems to be working so I'll go with it.

Karius I don't know about this lad, I have a real funny feeling he could shock everybody and could turn out to be really good for us or is that me been a little too excited? I don't know, time will tell but from what I'm seeing I'm happy with him.

You think of the squad we have right now, we are going to be adding Keita to that and whoever else? No wonder I'm excited, Keita is true class! his attitude concerns me a little but let's hope Klopp can sort his head out in regards to that. I think next season with Keita and a few other players coming in we're going to be a force to be reckoned with, we are now without other additions.

Top 4 we WILL get this season I have no doubt about that but to me we must improve on 4th spot and I think we will, with ease. The other teams up there are nowhere near as consistant as we are.

Anyway I must stop rambling on but on wards and upwards! Have a good weekend to all!

Great post mate.

25 Feb 2018 06:10:08
Nice one Salah. Agree re Karius, hopefully the confidence of being number 1 helps him grow even more. If we don't get Alisson which ed2 is telling us isn't happening then jist persist with Karius.

The coverage I watched really didn't give him any credit for getting a glove to Arnautovic's lovely chip that he pushed onto the post. Love his quick release of the ball wherever possible as well.

{Ed002's Note - The problem with Alisson is that there is a better option, but he may not be first choice there and Klopp favours someone else.}

25 Feb 2018 07:35:24
It's sad to know klipperty got the klipperty for someone else unless that someone else is karius . I think karius will come good.

25 Feb 2018 06:33:19
I know you've said Keylor Navas is klopp's preference Ed2, just curious as to who the better option I your opinion is. Apologies if I've misunderstood your reply.

{Ed002's Note - the advantage of Navas is experience, Alisson has little experience but is gaining a good reputation. Folks like Butland are English and have PL experience. Other potential options exist in Germany. It is very much take your pick.}

25 Feb 2018 07:16:22
Care to share who you believe the better option to be Ed2? Value your opinion.

{Ed002's Note - the advantage of Navas is experience, Alisson has little experience but is gaining a good reputation. Folks like Butland are English and have PL experience. Other potential options exist in Germany. It is very much take your pick.}

25 Feb 2018 08:16:11
You mean Alisson going to Real Ed002? How is playing second fiddle to DDG or Courtois a better option?
Anyways, prefer to see Karius given a full season to show what he can do. Don't want the pretend GK Navas anywhere near LFC anyways. The club should steer clear of average GKs. Klopp has a big decision to make in the summer. Either stick with karius or sign Alisson. Please no Navas and I am saying this because I have watched Navas play regularly and he has been bang average. RM have not won all those trophies because of their GK or defense. They have won all trophies inspite of them.

25 Feb 2018 09:32:45
Navas’s experience counts for nothing in my books because he doesn’t have ability to back it up and makes horrendous mistakes almost every game, which when you consider he isn’t often called upon us quite a scary prospect since you can almost guarantee that he will drop a clanger that would cost a goal rather than deal with something competently, however I definitely agree with you Ed that there are some interesting options in Germany mind you. I am glad that Karius now has the shirt for the rest of the season as it means he has the chance to make the position his own.

25 Feb 2018 09:48:56
Btw agree with the other posters that I think Karius will come good. A bit of patience and we might be rewarded. Certainly he pulled out two fantastic saves yesterday that were top drawer and dealt with pretty much everything else calmly and competently.

25 Feb 2018 11:02:35
I used to like Butland but since his injury he has struggled.
Makes the odd “worldie” but also too many ricks.
Karius did very well yesterday 👏.

25 Feb 2018 12:14:33
Great post Salah. Have to agree with your comments abit Firmino playing better since coutinho left. As good and creative as coutinho was, it always felt like he was trying to show he's the best with his consistent shooting or trying to find a shot, nowadays there's such a fluidity to our play which is exactly what Firmino is about! Long may it continue!

25 Feb 2018 14:25:15
Of all our attacking prowess the most exciting thing I've seen of us is when we took the air out of the game today at around 68 mins and took control of the match before it got stretched and we conceded another!

24 Feb 2018 22:56:31
Hi eds . quick (maybe dumb sounding) question but if a release clause is met by a perspective buying club does the players current club have no say on what happens? . im just thinking about Salah as I assume his release clause if he has one is way under his current market value.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - it is not that simple and they are not legally enforcible in England.}

25 Feb 2018 05:15:41
I very much doubt Salah has a release clause. Klopp and the owners seem to be against such clauses being inserted in the first place which is a good thing.

25 Feb 2018 08:47:25
I hope not! . thanks eds, it was just a thought that crossed my mind, the way he's played this season and the way players values have gone crazy I wondered if they could lose him for peanuts.

25 Feb 2018 08:55:44
Salah has nothing of the sort in his contract!

25 Feb 2018 10:00:29
And if to be sold which i very very much doubt he would cost a lot more than Coutinho!

25 Feb 2018 13:44:41
I don't doubt it, and I agree he would carry a very hefty price tag . it was just a question I wanted answering, I used Salah as a prime example as to what could happen. Not sure on his contract as they generally don't divulge the finer details but as you seem to have seen a copy I'll take your word that he doesn't have one anyway!

25 Feb 2018 14:01:11
are you having a laugh? Liverpool are willing to lose Emre Can for free due to a complete refusal of inserting a buy-out clause, the club simply doesn't do them since the Suarez debacle with Arsenal and threatening to take the club to court. And ed002 was asked a while back and said he didn't think any of Salah or Firmino has release clauses in their contracts.

25 Feb 2018 15:08:39
Am i having a laugh? . I already agreed with you, and once again I agree, I believe they are cutting their noses off by not offering a "get out clause" to Can. because that's what it would be, a get out clause, and someone that wants one knowing Liverpool don't usually include them obviously doesn't want to stay or fears for his position or he would have signed a new contract. And i hadnt read that the eds don't THINK Salah has a release clause, but thanks for pointing it out, glad that's a definite No.
