Real Madrid have shifted their interest from Cavani to Suarez because they feel the Napoli man is too expensive and doesn't represent as much value for money as his compatriot {Ed002's Note -Real Madrid has another player in mind right now - there is some distance to go with their shopping.}

Random Red

1.) Another striker? {Ed002's Note - Yes. I have explained repeatedly that RM are not the only club interested in Suarez and Suarez is not the only player that interests them.}

2.) Bearing in mind what your reply was ed, can you elaborate on what you believe their strategy represents so far, in regards to suraez {Ed002's Note - They won't have a specific "strategy" in respect of Suarez. He is a player that has been offered to them, amongst other sides, and they may well be making a bid. an offer was expected last week and never materialised. They are also looking to other players. This is the same approach taken by most clubs - like Liverpool has done with the centre backs. If they make an offer I expect in the first instance it will be low with a youngster they no longer required offered up as well. There is nothing "special" about Suarez - at least not in respect of transfers.}

3.) Cheers Ed, any chance in letting us know who the other striker is they were interested in Aguero were they not some time back? As for Suarez still wouldn't mind him staying as he is a quality footballer, either way the club will move onwards. {Ed002's Note - Jovetic.}

4.) Ed are Liverpool themseleves offering suarez to clubs or his agent trying tohget him a move?

bigW {Ed002's Note - His agent and representatives.}

5.) 28 Jun 2013 23:59:30
So Ed002, Real have dropped their interest in Luis? Cheers, Scouserseb {Ed002's Note - No.}

6.) Ed's, why is it that LFC simply get rid of Suarez by offering him to Real Madrid for one of the strikers + miss. I mean surely a Suarez for Higuain + Di Maria and 10M looks tasty and realistic. Di Maria has been linked to Spurs and yet they are ONLY in Europa league. I'm sure we could negotiate his deal, as same as with Higuain. All in all, I bust think LFC must act fast. Also, just a thought, IF El Sharaawy wants out, we could bid for him using the Suarez money, could we not. Whether he considers CL into account is another thing, but you never know till you try, we got Suarez without CL didn't we and he was probably in the Top 50 Soccer Players at that time due to his phenominal scoring record at Ajax. {Ed002's Note - Liverpool has not offered Suarez to Real Madrid at all. You appear to have drifted off in to some strange fantasy land.}

Better Shaqiri than Grealish.

By a million miles.

2.) 14 Jul 2018 20:58:22
Quite obvious isn't it?

Two teams. One epic encounter. Chelsea vs Manchester United. Who wins?

- Liverpool and Spurs.

Random Red

1.) 25 Feb 2018 11:08:34
I was waiting for the Harry Hill punchline:

2.) 25 Feb 2018 11:36:32
Best case scenario is a 0-0 draw.
Second is Man U losing.
Third is Chelse winning.

No other outcomes are palatable in the slightest.

3.) 25 Feb 2018 11:59:16
Spurs and UTD losses for me.

Chelsea have lost the plot under Conte so yes 3 points will see them hot on our heels but they are bound to drop more points with behind the scenes issues taking over at the Bridge.

More worried about Spurs who are in good form and UTD with Mourinho aiming for one goal and shutting up shop afterwards.

I remember this excerpt circulating from Fergies last book where he said he considered signing Hendo, but decided not to because he thought Hendo had an awkward gait which indicated he would have injury issues in the future.

Similarly, i recall that Aly Cissokho failed a few medicals because physicians believed the alignment of his teeth indicated that he would have back problems and teams wouldn't gamble on him.

And for the longest time, a bunch of teams wouldn't sign Demba Ba because it was (supposedly) well known that he had terrible knees. This is why he never commanded very large fees despite being a pretty handy forward.

what i am getting at here is how accurate are these predictions physicians give on seemingly obscure and insignificant diagnoses?

Random Red

1.) 19 Jan 2018 08:28:48
The teeth thing?!

2.) 19 Jan 2018 09:03:50
I think you will find Hendo is getting some new hinges for his gait.

3.) 19 Jan 2018 09:04:50
2 European cups in 27 years with more resources than any other team in Europe? Pathetic.

4.) 19 Jan 2018 09:40:08
First time poster. To answer your question Random Red. The accuracy in predicting injuries with tests like that i zero. There are only two factors that gives an established higher injury risk and that is previous injuries and exposure (hours of training and competition/ match) .

I'm a physiotherapist with two masterdegrees, and one of my masterthesis was on the subject of injuryrisk in football, and the other one was on screening for preventing injuries)

Would like to thank all the eds for sharing their amazingly lagre amount of knowledge with us. Keep up the good work :)

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate and I would agree with you totally on that. It is one of the basis of Leicester's recruitment.}

5.) 19 Jan 2018 09:52:25
The teeth thing I believe is to do with nerves. I am sure many years ago Beckham had problems with his back and had to have dental work which in turn over come the problem.

6.) 19 Jan 2018 10:02:05
Weren't SG's early injury (back? ) problems linked to his wisdom teeth in some way? Or am I making that up?

7.) 19 Jan 2018 10:18:12
So it’s safe to say the Bobby Firmino has the best back in the league! 😁.

8.) 19 Jan 2018 10:38:19
You are correct Johnny, he had a few teeth removed in his teens and his back problem went away.

9.) 19 Jan 2018 11:19:33
Thanks Lofotenred
Your opinion on Hendo? was it just a lucky guess?

{Ed001's Note - his injuries are nothing to do with his gait.}

10.) 19 Jan 2018 11:56:43
The teeth excuse was hilarious at the time. It is still funny now.

11.) 19 Jan 2018 13:33:07
Personally I've never had a proper gawk at his teeth. Rumour has it there's better on a witch doctors necklace.

{Ed025's Note - love it mate..

12.) 19 Jan 2018 13:45:27
Lofotenred, your thesis sounds really interesting. Any chance you could send it to the Eds to publish on the site?

13.) 19 Jan 2018 13:47:06
Great post and interesting reading Lofoten - curious on the precedence of previous injuries and if you could elaborate on that. How often does someone who’s had a lot of injuries ever recover to go through a decent patch of full fitness? Are there particular injuries that may recurr more than others?

In particular I’m curious if you would expect Sturridge or Hendo to ever go through a clear spell again or if it’s more likely they’ll always struggle. Would you always advise against recruiting players who have had multiple injuries before or is it ever worth the gamble?

14.) 19 Jan 2018 15:43:14
I wonder if Henderson's injuries are related or purely coincidental. Obviously im no expert injuries can occur after compensating for other injuries and issues. It's just a shame players careers can be blighted this way.

15.) 19 Jan 2018 17:42:46
Sorry for the late reply. I could elaborate a little bit of injuries, but I need a little bit of time, so the eds can publisert it as an article if they want to. There has been a lot of research on football injuries and rehabilitation over the last decades. I´ll put what I found out in my thesis there. Henderson injuries as ed said has nothing to do with his gait or running style, some of the best athletes in the world have all but textbook ways to move. Everyone finds the most efficient way to move according to how their body is built.

Hendo and Sturridge can recover but are more at risk of getting injuries. But that is a complex matter. Injury is not always injury, it is also about cognitive factors like depression, anxiety/ fear, motivation and lots of other factors that drives/ produced pain.

One of the most difficult things in rehab is the last period before return to play where the conditioning of the player has to be close to perfect. Overload or underload of the players can easily be the cause of the injury. That also is a risk factor for overuse injuries in healthy players.

I'll start working on an injury article to publish if the eds are ok with that.

{Ed025's Note - more than ok with it lofoten mate...cheers..

16.) 19 Jan 2018 17:55:32
The whole teeth and backpain assosiation is nonsense. It sounds like old school thinking (like early 1900 century) . Suarez might have given some opponents back pain biting them, but that is also the only connection I see between teeth and back pain :)

17.) 21 Jan 2018 11:36:13
Thanks Lofoten.

11 Jan 2018 13:15:34
Alright Ed's, if Macca has told any of you who the player we are looking at is, i don't want the name, i just want to know if you feel said player is attainable?

Random Red

{Ed001's Note - not asked him, sorry.}

1.) 11 Jan 2018 14:34:54
Probably better not to know. I’m sure these transfer negotiations go better out of the glare of publicity, particularly the gutter press. A bit like wanting to know your Christmas presents as a kid - might be fun to get a real surprise!

Spectacular performance from Winston Reid vs Chelsea. Also, Zabaleta did well against Hazard today.

Random Red

1.) 09 Dec 2017 14:35:43
Great result West Ham we just need to do our part now and hammer Everton tomorrow.

2.) 09 Dec 2017 14:46:53
Was a great match to watch, WH showed a lot of guts.

Take nothing for granted, we have to be up for it tomorrow but we have a chance to go joint third with a Manchester Derby to reign in one or both above. Let’s make the most of the opportunity.

3.) 09 Dec 2017 15:53:20
I knew Moyes still had it in him!

4.) 09 Dec 2017 21:34:42
Credit to WH today as they showed up Chelsea and Conte for who they really where, a bunch of pre-madonnas who were not up to the challenge. Also, they showed Chelsea up to be for now, a one man team cos Hazard was poor today and when he is not on, they ofen struggle like they did vs Swansea when Hazard was rested. They did not even create any great chances of note as Adrian did not have a save of note to make. Up to us now to do the business and we will be 3rd by the end of the day tmrw.

I'm okay with this acquisition. Much better cover for Mane and Salah than Ox or Lallana. good players but Neither are competent wingers.

Shaqiri and Zaha are about the same level but he would only cost a 3rd of what Zaha is supposedly valued.

I'm not that crazy about him. He's like a young, less dynamic Gareth Bale. Still a good player tho.
