Hi Eds,

With the chances of Sterling leaving increasing, are we likely to revisit Konoplyanka? I presume Pedro is still not viable?

{Ed001's Note - so far we have shown no signs of resurrecting the Kono deal.}

I don't understand why not. How can he be identified as a top player one minute and then not good enough the next minute eds? As a free signing it's a no brainer even if sterling stays.

Apology/ confession

I have a 7 year old son who has had the joy of coming to4 games at Anfield with me. Only problem is . Every time he comes it is 0-0! hull, Bolton, Blackburn and now West Ham!

I know I should stop taking him but I am desperate for him to see a goal ( so is he)! With 10 mins to go against Bolton he looked at me with big eyes and said "will I never see a goal" at which point I was nearly over the hoardings to try myself!

But at least yesterday I made £100 on backing 0-0! Would be up £100k if I had backed that for each of the four games and rolled it over.

Will let you know next time he comes, firstly so you can avoid watching the game, and second so you can put your mortgage on 0-0!

But, as a dad as much as I fancy rolling the £100 over I would love for him to share the excitement of a good game and a goal!

Good stuff mate, you made me smile. And sorry for the kid, is he still an LFC supporter?

2.) 31 Jan 2016 14:14:17
I had 4 2-0 wins in a row once back in the day.
But the last 2 times have been 0-0 for me as well actually. : (
Really want a mad one like that Norwich game.

Your lad must be Mignolets lucky mascot 😂.

Sorry if I have missed an injury, but is there a reason why Lucas doesn't even make the bench?

A few of those who haven't made the squad today are a bit of a concern.

Probably the same reason he didn't beginning of last season either.

Are we sure his agent is authorised to be talking to us? Has he even done the Twitter accreditation?

Ed001, Good of you to give us the detail, but I don't think you have to explain things. Everyone said this was going to happen, but then it turned out we built the house on sand, so things fell apart.

You guys run a really interesting site, and try to give us interesting insights. Sometimes things will go pear shaped. doesn't change things, you are giving us your honest (sometimes very honest) view on things. If it was called Liverpool-transfer-facts. co. uk, then that would be different, but I for one enjoy the site, and appreciate you guys giving us the insights that you do (although sometimes I cringe from the tongue lashings delivered :-) ) . If you will forgive me, part of the fun of this site is just like buying the euro millions ticket. the 2 days dreaming about what it would be like if Messi signed brings a smile and some joy, even if the reality is, it is never going to happen. BTW . any chance of Messi :-)

On a different note, I find it really hard to fathom how we can get ourselves into these situations. I have nothing to do with football, but I know you need permission from the other club before you speak to the player. I know from life, that if a middle man says "trust me this is all legit", then that is when you run for the hills. SO, this is either supreme arrogance (which I would hate for my football club, but I accept it is possible), or supreme naivete. I am not sure which is worse.

Thanks for all you guys do, I am looking forward to my near hourly visits to the site during the window!

I for one hope Klopp has a good look at him through pre-season. Everyone thought he had lots of potential when he came in and the poor guy then played most games as a wing back .

Of course if he wants out that is different, but he's still young and it would be good to see him get a chance in his proper position.

Bizarrely, I was once asked if I was interested in buying Skonta Riga. I was a young lawyer and did some work for an Arsenal player (very low level) . Anyway his agent obviously mistook me for someone with means (obviously didn't see me in my Vauxhall Corsa) and asked if I was interested in receiving a prospectus for Riga or one of another couple of clubs that he mentioned that I can no longer recall. The number quoted was ridiculously reasonable for a team that was regularly in champions league in those days, but sadly I had to decline.

Completely agree on Benteke and Lallana.

I just don't understand purchase of Benteke as he suits our style of play no more than past transfer gaffs Carroll and Balotelli! With the style of football we play he is just the wrong striker and I feel a bit for him as this isn't helping his career either. I just struggle to understand how the committee can make such a glaring mistake. It's not as if he suited BRs style but doesn't suit Klopp I don't think he suited BRs style either. I know good strikers are hard to find, but I think blowing £30m just because you can't get anyone else is poor business (but I rather think they targeted him which makes it far worse) .

On Lallana, I like his effort and he does some things quite well, but he never pulls off the final ball, he never quite beats the last man, and he never quite gets it on target/ scores. He never quite . And at £25m I think you need to be getting someone who turns games. I would have been happy paying £10-15m for him as a squad player, but he is not good enough to start for top 4 teams in my mind and our desperation to get him at any cost is another sign of an endemic problem we have had for years. We overpay for good players but never manage to land more than one very good player at a time (the word great is overused in my opinion) . When I put aside my obvious bias and look at our team honestly we have too many players starting who are good solid players, and not enough true match winners. A front 3 of firmino, lallana and Milner would hardly have struck fear into United.

I know it is hard when we have 3 strikers out injured, but if we can't rely on Sturridge then we need to improve our starting front 3 (which might just be a new striker as I could settle for coutinho firmino plus one but I think we should move on lallana and bring in another option there - which might be markovic) and then workout how to sort out our back 5!

Come on Ed001. this is getting daft!

£70m for a centre back and not being able to make a date with Olivia Munn.? Come on what kind of world are we living in?

Save for a moment of madness thought Lucas did well. Won a fair few headers and made some timely interventions. Saw Sky gave him 4/ 10 which I think was hugely unfair considering the other 94 mins of his performance! Also thought it was great that the fans sang his song straight after their goal!

On another note my son finally saw goals at Anfield at the 5th attempt . Thanks Jurgen!

Cracking performance!

Think he is just setting market expectations for what he expects to earn in the near future. 😀

If you are in any industry you try to talk up the market when it is in your interests to stimulate it. why should a football agent be any different.

Having said this I do find it interesting that Utd spent the same with Raiola as we spent on our record signing. Apparently Raiola can't play LB either so wouldn't have been worth it for us 😀.

{Ed002's Note - It i exactly as I said Kiddfan. There has been a prediction carried out by an accountancy firm given the exit criteria over three different dates. It was shared with the clubs that are part of the breakaway discussions on Monday Morning - and Mino is basing what he said on that - nothing more. As I said, I would caveat the figures as some seem bery high for some cluns - but supect Mino will be proven to be correct.}

Ed, that is an interesting view/ account.? i say this having just finished reading the Owen chapter of Ring of Fire. The book is obviously the views/ thoughts of the people themselves, but Owen obviously feels more than a little hard done by in relation to how he is viewed by our fans given the lengths he says he went to in order to secure a return to Liverpool after his gap year 😀 in Madrid.

From what you say the view of the fans is more layered and deep seated than just that he ended up at United (and left relatively cheaply when we could probably have done with keeping him) .

As I say it is interesting to get the additional angles so soon after reading his thoughts on things.

Goes to show, always at least 3 sides to every story!

{Ed001's Note - he was desperate to return, but Rafa wouldn't deal with him after learning what a tosser he was while here.}
