Ed001 wondered what your view on our midfield is. I'm surprised how much we seem to miss Lallana last season each of the three seemed to have a clearly defined role so far this season they all seem to be doing the same and getting into each other's way.
I would like to see a dedicated DM to protect the back 4 and allow the other 2 to play their more natural game, we however have no proper DM
Hopefully we will see PC in midfield more as he gets back to fitness to give us more variety in there.

{Ed001's Note - I think the same, the players seem to be getting in each other's way and not yet gelling. However it is still early days, that kind of thing comes with time. The more they play together, the more they will grow to understand what the other players are trying to do. Personally though, I would like to see more clearly defined roles, as I am not convinced the players have the intelligence to work it out for themselves. Can holding, for instance, while the other two in there can play as a pair.}

Hendo and Wij are in terrible form at the moment.

2.) 20 Sep 2017 06:58:54
But we don't play with a DM! Nor the window is opened to buy one! So we stay where we are! Loosing Can will be a crime next season!

3.) 20 Sep 2017 07:03:14
With Lallana, you know when you pass him the ball it sticks and is not coming straight back.
He has great control and retains possession well.

Really not trying to be a smart ass Ed but Hendo, Can and Wini played toget her last season. How can they have completely forgotten everything from a couple of months ago.

{Ed001's Note - how often did they play as a 3 together? Hendo missed most of the second half of the season.}

I think we have lacked a good strong spine to the team since the Rafa days, all the teams that win the league have those players who won't be beat easily and turn defeats into draws and draws into wins basically grinding out a win from games like Saturday. Would love to have a player in there at CB or midfield that all opposing fans thought was a good player but a nasty horrible c&@t.

Sorry if I missed it but why no Hendo today.

{Ed002's Note - Sick.}

Medical at Barcelona.

2.) 05 Aug 2017 18:34:30

Thanks Jim. Appreciate the light relief. Much needed.

3.) 05 Aug 2017 18:38:41
Klopp has given Henderson an extended Holiday.

4.) 05 Aug 2017 19:40:46
Love a bit of light relief.

{Ed025's Note - hand is my favourite davey..

Question for ed01 . what would you do with the young players on the fringes keep them at the club training with the first team or send them on loan if you could guarantee game time at a good club . surely good game time is more beneficial to the player? and as a club how much should you take into account the players development opposed to what the club needs.

{Ed001's Note - it really depends. If a good move can be found, then you send them on loan, but only if it is one that is going to benefit the player. Player development should be the priority, but there does need to be a balance there, as you need to give them a chance with you at some point, so you can't buy a squad full of ready made players so you can send them all out on developmental loans. Well you can, but then you end up with the problem Chelsea have of no space to fit them in to the team.}

Ed001, in light of the above, how do you think klopp is fairing with management of the youth? I see he is overly praised for giving them a chance but honestly I don't really see any real opportunity he is giving them apart from TAA who gets the odd minute. I think of Gomez who hardly got play time even when all our central defense was injured at a time, then there is Woodburn and Wilson. Looking at some players we are being linked with I'm sure there are many youth players who feel they will never get a chance.
Thanks for your work and knowledge.

{Ed001's Note - it is far too early to judge him, but I do admit I am a little disappointed, there were a lot of opportunities for him to bring on a youngster towards the end of games but he chose not to make a third subsitution. There are three subs available, he should make use of them to give the kids a run out, if nothing else.}

2.) 30 Jun 2017 06:11:08
Tbink klopp wants success then he will do thr youth.

He knows a cuo buys him a season and thr leagye buys him atleast 4 seaaons. Then he can relax into his role like a dortmund.

3.) 30 Jun 2017 07:35:13
I agree Ed. Klopp could blood them in slowly as last subs during games we will definitely win but for some reason, does not do it. I hope that changes next season.

{Ed001's Note - it doesn't matter if we will defo win or not, he needs to give them a shot anyway. Poch does it all the time with Spurs, brings on young players to try and win a game or to see it out. That trust he shows them has paid dividends.}

4.) 30 Jun 2017 12:18:03
You are right about Poch and Spurs, Ed. Let's hope things change next season.

08 Jun 2017 07:37:50
Eds a question if i may . what do you think are the reasons behind the club continually looking poor when it comes to transfers?
Is it the structure and set up of that aspect of the club, poor appointments in key positions, lack of real leadership in that aspect of the club or a bit of everything
It's just so frustrating that we don't seem to ever learn.

{Ed001's Note - feels like arrogance to me. The structure and set up of the club needs to change too. FSG have made changes but we have no way of knowing how effective they will be.}

So 32m for an impact sub . Money well spent again. I don't doubt that in the right team and system he would be a good player I just unfortunately don't think that it is with us . Hope he proves me wrong but he takes away the best qualities of firmino coutinho etc with his lack of movement.

Game of opinions of course but I wouldn't take any of them for one reason or another. i know Ed 25 doesn't rate Can but last season he was never fully fit. started the season injured then niggles but when he has a run of games like he has now he is up there with some of the best all round cm's in he league.

{Ed025's Note - gana blows can, wiji and hendo right out the water squizza, to be honest schneiderlin comes before them 3 mate..

All in all then Ed your a big fan.

{Ed001's Note - actually quite like him as a bloke, big Liverpool fan but he was a terrible manager and it was a huge mistake by Moores to dick over Evans by bringing him in. Evans deserved far more respect than that prick Moores showed him.}

I think the only thing you could say that haven't done well enough is the hiring of the right people to oversee the day to day running of the club, that and from what I have read not doing more to get involved in the local community engaging the local fans of tomorrow, we could learn a thing or two from Everton who seem to be good at this.
