Hi Eds . loving the way in which Liverpool appear to be gelling this season, what do you reckon the odds are on the team holding together in the January window? Seeing a few recurring stories with regards to potential "swoops" for a few of the Liverpool "aces"

{Ed001's Note - I wouldn't worry about it.}

1.) 03 Oct 2016 12:03:19
Hola everybody! Greetings Eds!
Howbout any incomings?
Do you think we are looking to do any business in the January window or its too early to tell?
Thank you!

{Ed002's Note - It will become clearer but they will not be planning anything major as they did pretty much what they wanted in the summer. A little tweaking may happen.}

2.) 03 Oct 2016 12:45:13
I appreciate your answer!

3.) 03 Oct 2016 16:27:23
You're in for it now ed002.

4.) 03 Oct 2016 22:39:33
and it begins.

09 Aug 2016 14:16:30
Reports from sky are that Palace are in talks again with a view to signing Benteke.

1.) 09 Aug 2016 14:48:18
If there was indeed an initial bid of 25 million rejected and they had agreed personal terms with him then I say sell him and invest that money on a LB

2.) 09 Aug 2016 15:44:58
Seems like Palace are short of strikers, so hold out for the 30 million, and buy that Left Back that we need .

3.) 09 Aug 2016 16:46:44
any thing over £25m is good. better than keeping him with no football and paying his wages.

4.) 09 Aug 2016 16:49:23
reports also saying they are considering Wilfred bony . hope they have benteke.

5.) 10 Aug 2016 00:07:46
I'd they are getting 30m for Bolasie we want our 32.5m.

6.) 10 Aug 2016 00:58:37
I've read arsenal r in 4 bony?

21 Apr 2016 08:34:27
Hi Eds . Is there any news on Danny Ings? with respect to how he is recovering . has he done any training yet? i'd really like to see him grow with Klopp, not sure obviously on Klopps thoughts about him.

{Ed001's Note - Square Tomato has posted up an update about his recovery and that he is back in training of a kind, though it is unlikely he will play this season.}

1.) 21 Apr 2016 09:01:05
I think Ings will thrive under Klopp just as Origi has.

2.) 21 Apr 2016 13:30:50
Fully agree that he will thrive in Klopps system, I think Origi/ Sturridge with Ings will be a great strike partnership.

3.) 21 Apr 2016 14:55:25
He's running and doing short sprints.

4.) 21 Apr 2016 17:05:10
Ings a Fox in box and then we have a origi who is Lion in box. woohoo.

5.) 21 Apr 2016 19:22:56
Who hasn't thrived under klopp? Ings will come back better than ever!
Only benteke hasn't improved I think.
At the start of the season, I didn't enjoy watching any games, but now I enjoy most! It's good to watch again, and playing good football makes players play better.

6.) 22 Apr 2016 10:26:46
Ings is the type of player that Klopp likes, hardworking, intelligent, willing to learn and with a good amount of skill to boot. I think that Sturridge, Origi, Ings and Firmino isn't too shabby for a forward selection, although I wouldn't complain if we added Lacazette.

05 Dec 2014 15:30:20
Hi Eds does it look like we will be able to offload anyone in Jan ? It's ok saying certain individuals are up for grabs but is anyone taking any interest in anyone ?

{Ed002's Note - I think Lucas may leave.}

1.) 05 Dec 2014 16:27:20
I would be really disappointed with that. Lucas is the best DM we currently have and is ideal for us playing at the base of a diamond.

2.) Hi Eds, with Lucas having regained his place in the team lately, you still see him leaving? I hope we have another holding midfielder lined up if that's the case.

{Ed002's Note - I was under the impression all the Liverpool fans wanted him out. Liverpool has no shortage of players already.}

3.) I hope not, Lucas has proved vital to the team. I understand we need to lose a few players but hopefully we've realised he's the best we have at protecting our shaky back 5!

4.) Well this Liverpool fan most certainly does not want him sold unless a suitable replacement is signed.

5.) The have a shortage of DM players ed

6.) Ed what that was and I can only speak for myself, is that I was resigned to Rodger's resilience in not playing Lucas and given that, didn't see a reason not to sell him for him and for the team. But in all fairness Lucas leaving when he had proved to be this valuable is something BR deserves in my opinion. He will think twice, a third time and a forth in the future before dismissing a player over favouritism.

7.) The only thing that worries me with this is if he does go and the rumours are true regarding almost all the rest of the defence leaving next year then we will have another summer of spending and another "new team" to bed in again . No consistency

28 Aug 2014 14:27:34
Eds any idea if Ibe is going out on loan? . I tried the serch function and can't see anything recent. (im sat next to a Derby fan who thinks they are in the hunt for him)

{Ed002's Note - I believe the plan is for a loan to Derby. He will not get a chance at Liverpool and it will be the best thing for him. In the longer term it will give the club the opportunity to watch him playing at a good level and then decide what they want to do with him next season (bring him in to the squad, loan him or Brendaned.}

1.) Ed - what is "Brendaned"?

{Ed002's Note - Try Twitter - #WonderDogSparky}

2.) 28 Aug 2014 19:01:19
Ed002? is your term "brendaned" from the urban dictionary meaning, over indulged. If not would love to know your definition.

Thanks for all the hard work.

{Ed002's Note - A recent episode of #WonderDogSparky explains it well enough.}

3.) Eds great site and read everyday. What's with the little niggles at Brendan ie "kid in a candy store" " brendaned"
I personally think he has done a great job and no one is perfect. Do you not agree?

{Ed002's Note - IN terms of purchases neither I nor the club would agree. The club created the transfer committee to help him out.}

4.) I am sure Eds002 and 001 could add to this but perhaps you should consider this definition:

To Brendan (verb) - to leave a player in a position where they don’t know what their role or future is at the club by any number of means including, but not limited to:
a) neither selecting players, nor allowing them to leave
b) loaning, but not caring how players actually perform on loan or how to integrate them upon their return
c) not offering the majority of young players a route to develop

It may be brought about buy buying too many players for similar positions, but failing to operate a happy rotation policy.

{Ed002's Note - You missed the kick in the balls.}

5.) So if the club created a transfer commitee why the "kid in the candy store". anyways I feel some people can be over critical and BR is still learning his trade, great last season with some mistakes but if you learn from it, it isn't a problem I believe. I also feel that if BR feels they will fit in the team then he will play them. However People are able to have their own opinion and we could still be stuck with Woy and then no one would be happy :-)

{Ed002's Note - You can try and protect Rodgers all you want but come across as one ignorant mf because you want to make fun of a speech impediment someone may have. Personification of true fucking ignorance. This is why folks have a problem with brain dead rubbish like you - spewing hate and ignorance.}

6.) 29 Aug 2014 10:48:24
{Ed002's Note - You missed the kick in the balls.}. .

And also "Rodgered"

7.) You mean wodgered! Lol

8.) ED2 - Chill out dude. . . You seem to have it in for BR. Let me educate you - he has revolutionised our style of play with a fast fluent attacking philosophy. Roy was outdated in his role at Anfield and even KIng Kenny wanted Andy Carroll to lump it directly up front. BR may have made a few errors but we are going forward with a true philosophy and its not down to the transfer committee! - I suggest a weekend chill out in New Brighton for you . .

{Ed002's Note - You seem to misunderstand. I have nothing against him and I have previously explained that I like the guy. Is transfer dealings have failed in 87.5% of the cases. The transfer committee is there to help him. The club is in significant debt, largely because of him. The club is in breach of the FFP regulations again, largely because of him. The younger players that everyone was so excited about are leaving - largely because of him. Understand that if he screws up yet again, he will have to go. Why is the truth hard to take? Given that many Liverpool supporters do nothing but trash past, present and potential future players, why do you feel so protective of the man who has the club in this state?}

9.) That is nonsense, sorry.

Non of Brendan's buys have been sold yet so there are no facts to support him making losses for the club. Quite a sensational analysis.
We probably have the fifth biggest squad in terms of squad transfer value, and he took us to second and champs league. If anything he is bringing revenue to the club not debt.
The first likely Brendan signings to be sold are Assaidi and Borini and they look like there will be returns on those investment. Aspas is next, and after his loan with Sevilla will probably get a return. Alberto is a risk and Illori is more than a 2 year investment.
I am not suggesting that Aspas, Assaidi, Borini were good decisions but the club are not going to spiral into debt and Brendan will not lose his job over them.
Also, 19-21 year olds from reserves are not going to walk into team generally which is why they ae being loaned out (Wisdom has a very successfull loan for eg). The youngsters Liveroool are excited about are not leaving.

{Ed002's Note - They have not been able to sell them:

Fabio Borini – club want him sold
Joe Allen – squad player
Oussama Assaidi – club want him sold
Nuri Sahin – loan that never worked out
Samed Yesil – left on loan
Daniel Sturridge – good buy, good price, great return on investment – let’s hope he can work with Balotelli.
Philippe Coutinho – still on the fringe a little but a good buy, good price – will he have a regular place with the new players coming in?
João Carlos Teixeira – high expectations, out on loan – will he ever get a chance
Luis Alberto - left on loan
Iago Aspas - left on loan
Simon Mignolet – played all of last season and team got second place
Kolo Touré – club were willing to let him move on but personal terms could not be agreed
Aly Cissokho – loan that never worked out
Mamadou Sakho – club may well have replaced him with a player they could have bought last year for less than half of what was paid for Kirikou
Tiago Ilori - left on loan
Victor Moses – loan that never worked out

10.) Thanks for all the work that you do on here eds. First time poster (since registering required) and I was just thinking about something that seems to be underlying this discussion: how often do academy players make it as a regular into the first team?

We have a ton of exciting prospects, and I have been a bit disheartened that they aren't given a chance. However, I was curious if I was expecting too much from the youth after seeing how successful Sterling has been on that track. Is there any stats on "success" rates for youth players at their clubs?

Thanks again!

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of stats but they will be out there somewhere.}

11.) Of those players the only real "busts" are Aspas, Borini and Alberto. The rest are either low cost buys that were likely the best we could get in the market at that time, youngsters who didn't quite cut it or TBC.

The Sahko signing is the one that I don't get? He was a lot of ££ and I am not really sure what his role is? Is he meant to be the ball playing CB if so I have not seen it as he looks like he is going to fall over every time he gets the ball OR is he meant to be another enforcer type, again I have not seen that?

As for Allen I think he is very underrated - never going to be top class but the type of squad player a top 4 team needs.

{Ed002's Note - You are kidding - low cost: Borini, Sahin, Allen, Toure?}

12.) Whats your point then? You're rambling.

13.) 29 Aug 2014 16:14:03
I understand Ed002 having a go at Brendan. And fair enough, some of it has been humorous. But why would 'Liverpool fans' actually join in this given both the average age of our team and our the job he has done with Sterling, Flanagan etc. He has shown commitment to developing the academy and having the standouts around the first team.

Give him a chance to actually screw up before you start the onslaught maybe?

14.) I said Borini is a bust. Toure and Sahin were free transfers were they not? So only wages?

I think the money we paid for Allen was not too bad?

15.) I like the way you said 'etc' after Sterling and Flanagan as there really isn't another Academy player one could point to and say they actually got a chance under BR.

16.) We paid ~£4M to loan Sahin from Real and then had to pay a penalty as I recall to send him back early.

I'm sure Toure had a nice signing on bonus, probably in the ~£1M-£2M range at least. Plus wages.

Hi, does anyone know the latest on Hendersons fitness?

1.) 13 Jan 2017 13:48:24
They say he should be ready for the Utd game along with Matip as both were supposed to be back in full training yesterday, as I understand it.

2.) 13 Jan 2017 13:57:34
He's back in training, and could be involved at the weekend!

3.) 13 Jan 2017 22:03:34
He will start.

25 Dec 2016 09:45:04
Merry Christmas eds . thanks for your hard work this last year . now rest up over the next few days and prepare yourselves for the January onslaught of rumours that our media force down our throats ;) ! . ps . is suarez coming back? Lol.

{Ed002's Note - Happy Hanukkah.}

14 Dec 2016 15:33:59
Hi eds the Chinese takeover rumour is doing the rounds on talksport (I know I know) with sources saying a deal could be done before Xmas? Any truth in it do you know?

{Ed002's Note - Try the search engine or read the posts.}

1.) 14 Dec 2016 17:18:00
Any truth EDDS in the rumour KARIUS has been dropped.

{Ed002's Note - I don't know what the team to play tonight is going to be but it would hardly be a suprise given the fans have turned on Karius (as they have done on numerous players and managers) and trashed him on social media, sites such as this etc. as is their want. He will be aware of this and it will certainly hit his confidence so I would think there will be every chance that the fans will get their way to have him out and Simon Mignolet back in goal. The fans should be able to sustain the abuse and eventually force him out of the club - perhaps then Alex Manninger will get his chance.}

2.) 14 Dec 2016 17:30:53
He can consider himself settled in now he's been trashed 😎.

3.) 14 Dec 2016 17:51:49
I know ed mignolet made a lot of errors the past 3 seasons and people are now celebrate him being back in the team . On Twitter there's people tweeting #blockkurius. We are Liverpool football club and ynwa did stand for something. People are sheeps and follow the media to much.

{Ed001's Note - sad state of affairs, the lunatics are truly running the asylum!}

4.) 14 Dec 2016 18:10:14
Absolutely, Ed. Don`t know if he`s been dropped so I guess we`ll find out tonight.

13 Dec 2016 12:31:46
Best reply to Nevilles latest tweet of "im no chef but I know a good steak when I see one"

"And I'm no gynaecologist but I know a c. when I see one"

1.) 13 Dec 2016 13:56:46
"I`m no manager BUT but I know an empty tracksuit when I see one. "

2.) 13 Dec 2016 18:12:05
It shows the intellect of the man to believe he can tell a good steak by looking at it 😂.

3.) 13 Dec 2016 19:30:43
Exactly Ron. I know a bad manager when I see won and his record at Valencia proves he was a failure. No need to taste it to figure that out.

07 Dec 2016 12:00:59
So Michael Beale is leaving . wonder who's going to get that role then 😂.

1.) 07 Dec 2016 14:52:21
I think he was relieved that Wrighty pulled out Plymouth - makes his interview more straightforward!

Stick him with the under 7s then if that's your thinking, at the end of the day he wants to be a coach, he's thought of very highly at the club and he needs to be close to top level to learn from those already there, not get the stuff that's filtered down through the ranks until it gets to him. I'm not saying first team but not far off. Its not like hiring someone with no licence to drive a school bus, it's like having someone that's driven the very school bus for years teaching someone else to drive it, your saying he should use his wealth of experience to teach someone to ride a push bike until someone says he can move to the next level, we need young English managers and quick, if he's not utilised properly he will be lost in the system.

I agree, and he's exactly what the kids need to see, I run an u11s football team and use Milner as an example when the lads inevitably complain at their defensive position! (Not that it makes a jot of difference mind you . but I still use him haha)

I really hope so. Personally I think Migs is a good shot stopper but that's about it, he lacks confidence when the ball is crossed and the opposition know that, plus his quick decision making is awful at times, he was the reason Vardy scored the other week, yes Lucas made a mistake but Migs invited the pressure that caused it. Hopefully Karius will make a name for himself, first game and first clean sheet is always a good start no matter who the team is, and let's face it Derby were hot promotion contenders (note i said 'were' as from what i have seen they're woeful at the moment)

I agree with Ron . up until yesterday he had done nothing to impress at all, many fans, including me, were starting to wonder if he would make the grade, for me the jury is still out, no bones about last night but he needs to show consistency now to get the fans chanting his name!
