Sky gossip column says we're looking at Malick Thiaw, Schalke 04 CB. Apparently he's dubbed as the 'new Joel Matip'.
I needed some humour this morning.

bakedbeanboy

{Ed002's Note - Malick Thiaw (CB) now 18 Schalke are looking to a new contract and a loan to get him some experience and hopefully get the rough edges removed. VfL Bochum may provide an opportunity to him.}

Liverpool v Real Madrid.

P 7 W 3 D 1 L 4

Not beaten them since 2009, our first 3 meetings were all wins for us.

In European Cup finals it's 1 all.

I'm going for a winner in the 81st minute by our left-back surging into the left hand side of the box from a throw.

1.) 27 May 2022 12:52:11
We will win.

2.) 27 May 2022 12:55:52
I’m expecting a game similar to the spurs final where we get the job done early and manage well.

3.) 27 May 2022 13:38:40
Jeez I hope we don't have to wait until the 81st minute for us to win. I don't think my nerves would be up to that.
What about Liverpool up 3-0 at HT and Casemiro sent off early? Surely that's the way to go?

4.) 27 May 2022 13:45:38
This time last week we were adamant we were going to win the league.

I don’t care how we play or what the score is as long as we win and I’m praying and keeping everything crossed for that result.

5.) 27 May 2022 15:04:58
The teams are closely matched in my view, although I’d have more Liverpool players in a combined 11.
What was apparent at the last final with them, they were far more experienced and comfortable in the pressure cooker atmosphere.
Our team has grown massively and can feel equal with them now though.
I’m quietly confident, but we need to deal with Vinicius.

6.) 27 May 2022 15:46:04
JK23, £25m + Lewandowski though?

That wouldn't be so bad, would it?!

I love this time of the year :-D.

7.) 27 May 2022 16:15:27
We will win madrid have had 3 weeks off chilling we have been playing and got a good rhythm number 7 is coming home.

8.) 27 May 2022 19:48:59
We will win it 35 - 34 on penalties with the penalty shoot out lasting longer than the match itself.

Given the comments on (non) transfers I just wanted to get in on the ‘say something silly’ trend.

9.) 27 May 2022 20:15:11
The twist will be that Madrid need an emergency GK on loan and Kepa will miss the deciding penalty.

Bet you can get some decent odds on that.!

10.) 27 May 2022 22:47:30
Salah and Mane will be out of contract by the time the penalties have finished though, WDW.

Does anyone else think Unai Emery looks a bit like Alan Partridge, but with dyed hair?

bakedbeanboy

{Ed0666's Note - I can very much see it mate

1.) 27 Apr 2022 21:58:12

I think he definitely breaking out the hair dye.

5.) 27 Apr 2022 22:40:52
Reminds me of Count Dracula. But I think he’s a good manager, seems like a decent bloke, he okayed a way today we as Liverpool fans won’t like but you o ow what they wasted time that’s their prerogative but the referee let's them get away with it.

6.) 27 Apr 2022 23:44:08
Bouncy, fools and horses for me Marline.

7.) 27 Apr 2022 23:47:44

8.) 28 Apr 2022 03:44:52

9.) 28 Apr 2022 10:47:27
I've always thought he looks Butthead from Beavis and Butthead.

Wow! Forget about "in the team", only Milly and Bobby are left AT THE CLUB!

2.) 26 Apr 2022 11:47:52
This was the game where Bobby sent Soldado to the shops with that double drag back.

4.) 26 Apr 2022 19:08:33
Absolutely class 😂.

5.) 26 Apr 2022 21:07:19
Isn’t Albi now at Villarreal.

23 Apr 2022 12:02:43
This made me chuckle over on the Everton Rumours page.

"Good. DCL been poor, don't rate DVB and Gomes is useless.
I would rather play Rondon and tell him to stick to VVD and p. him off. The lad has got a mistake in him if you put him under pressure. "

Maybe I'm missing something, but Van Dijk under pressure and mistakes, not sure we're in that version of the Universe.

bakedbeanboy

1.) 23 Apr 2022 12:10:04
And it may be banter, but this comment is a bit out of order considering the injury he caused to VVD.

Should play begovic in goal and put Pickford up front playing against Virgil - could make an interesting match up. "

Not cool.

2.) 23 Apr 2022 12:33:33
Maybe VVD has got a mistake in him? Just the one though, that he will use once in his career.
Maybe it will be against Everton? Maybe he will slip and let Rondon through on goal only for him to look into Alison’s eyes and go all funny in his legs and sky it? All this after we’ve put 5 past them making VVDs one career mistake a mute point.

3.) 23 Apr 2022 13:53:45
Baked, it was Pickford who injured VvD.

4.) 23 Apr 2022 15:19:53
I know, hence my comment chief.

5.) 23 Apr 2022 16:25:57
Ahh sorry I didn’t realise the second comment was a quote as well. My bad.

6.) 23 Apr 2022 18:22:24
Van Dijk only ever makes mistakes (and they're not exactly frequent from him, are they? ) when he has no defending to do for long periods and gets a bit lax.

Stick Rondon or DCL right up in his face the whole game and he'll just play them off the park.

7.) 23 Apr 2022 18:49:13
Biggest mistake Vvd ever made was appointing Lampard as manager.

Oh my mistake that was Everton not Vvd.

8.)

9.) 24 Apr 2022 12:01:23
OP, they got to get themselves up for the game at some point. Some Utd fans did the same thing on SM before the Utd game. Rondon? Now that’s a reach.

03 Apr 2022 12:24:29
I wasn't watching it as such, but on Sky Sports this morning, I noticed a couple of statistical lists they put up on the side of the scree and thought, neither of those are good things surely?
The first was Fouls Won - top was Zaha with something like 83 fouls won. Why is that a thing? Am I missing something? I know maybe those players on the list are a bit faster (would like to see if they're all wingers) but surely winning a foul suggests you're likely to go down more easily to gain advantage - ergo cheating.

The other was most saves. Again, like it's a good thing. All it says to me is the rest of your team is rubbish at defending. De Gea was top of the list, so I suppose it illustrates he is actually a good keeper but as we know, those in front of him are laughably poor at keeping the ball aay from him.

bakedbeanboy

1.) 03 Apr 2022 13:00:10
People used to argue that Statistic last season with Jack Grealish. He was the most fouled and some said it was a good thing, some said he held the ball too long.

This season has proved it actually didn’t make him a good player, now he’s surrounded by actual world class players he can’t even get on the pitch.

2.) 03 Apr 2022 13:08:13
I think it’s his lifestyle that’s stopping him getting on the pitch.

3.) 03 Apr 2022 13:23:27
This was Souness's view on the most fouled player last season:

"The stats say that Jack Grealish was the most fouled player in the Premier League last season, despite missing nearly three months through injury from February to May. That’s not a title I’d want on my CV. It tells me he is not seeing the overall picture early enough, spends too much time on the ball and doesn’t release it quickly enough. Grealish gets you on the edge of your seat but must learn to move the ball quicker, which means seeing the picture earlier. "

4.) 03 Apr 2022 14:09:20
I suppose it's just another pointless statistic that Sky like to try and make out that it's interesting. Maybe the money ball people use them, I don't know.

5.) 03 Apr 2022 14:23:11
It used to be Arteta who topped that list. Make of it what you will 😁.

6.) 03 Apr 2022 14:31:18
I'd agree with everything Souness says when it comes to Grealish. I've a Villa fan mate who thought he'd hit 20+goals and assists and get POTY at City whereas i thought he'd do well to get a game. The epitome of a show pony.

7.) 03 Apr 2022 15:07:50
Grealish was also a prolific diver at Villa which earned him a good chunk of free kicks as well hence why stats for the most part mean nothing without applying context.

8.) 03 Apr 2022 17:39:18
Grealish was the most fouled player cos he could win fouls by kicking an opponent and then falling over.

9.) 03 Apr 2022 18:32:08
SR, that too. He learned that from Hazard and Vardy.

I thought that too. Someone seems to have a degree of bias and/ or doesn't watch matches properly or read statistics.
