Ed1.
Help me out fella please
Paper talk of us adding minteh from Brighton to pur list of winger targets.
This is tripe hopefully yes? No way are we thinking of paying the 60 or 70m Brighton would want for him.
Can I put this out of my mind? .
{Ed001's Note - sorry but he is being looked at. Not my cup of tea either.}
10 Apr 2026 14:39:01
No way, lads, I'd stay well clear.
10 Apr 2026 14:42:52
Can see why Klopp wanted such a big say in all our transfers.
10 Apr 2026 15:43:36
I hope to God that is not our level of thinking going forward!
10 Apr 2026 15:49:00
Come on lads, who wouldn't want an extra sharp Minteh on the wing....I've heard he plays tic-tac style footy...light on his feet too cause he's got a hole in his middle.
10 Apr 2026 15:49:02
Maybe this is the difference of Champions League or Not Champions League (Minteh being the later).
10 Apr 2026 15:57:34
I really like him. 21 years old, very aggressive, very hard working, direct, rapid, 8 goals and 8 assists in about 3600 minutes of football since the start of last season etc.
If you think back to what Salah was doing at 21 years old at Chelsea, Minteh is operating at a pretty similar level in a much weaker Brighton side (that's not me saying he'll be as good as Salah, by the way, as Mo was a slow burner). I personally think Minteh would be a great signing for us. He can also play LW and RW with pretty much equal quality, though I personally prefer him on the left because I think he's a better crosser of the ball than he is at cutting inside and shooting.
He's the kind of player you need if you want to play with proper strikers like Isak and Ekitike. We don't necessarily need wingers who will score goals, now we have out and out strikers. We need wingers who can gain territory, run at full backs and ultimately put the ball in the box nice and early.
10 Apr 2026 17:00:14
Good work rate, decent player, but not good enough for us. Doesn't come close to showing even an inclination of a ceiling that puts him anywhere near being an adequate replacement for Mo.
10 Apr 2026 17:41:26
He would be a breath of fresh air, Robby.
10 Apr 2026 18:36:50
Agree with MK. Think he has loads of potential. Wouldn't go anywhere near the 60m+ Brighton apparently want though. 45-50m, just about fair maybe.
10 Apr 2026 18:37:32
He is a very good one on one player, which is a seriously important quality to have in a wide attacking player now. However, his end product is distinctly lacking, so I'm wary. Was a star for Slot, though, if he's going to be here next season (I'm just trolling).
10 Apr 2026 18:44:16
Makes Diaz seem like a steal ... and a painful loss!
10 Apr 2026 03:31:32
Hi all,
Journalists were briefed after the PSG game to show support for Slot and board. Lots of fluctuation behind the scenes at the moment but the bottom line is to pay no mind to anything any journo says. Slot will not be here next season.
{Ed025's Note - nice one Victor..
10 Apr 2026 07:47:50
Just been reading a long post from BayernSpace which he posted last night. (They're rarely short posts.)
It seems they're saying the same thing. Much more going on behind the scenes than journalists make you believe. Also suggested that both Frimpong and Wirtz are in regular contact with Alonso.
10 Apr 2026 07:53:53
Slot's lost the fans, his position is untenable. Surely there is no possibility that he's here next season.
10 Apr 2026 07:56:54
Normal operating procedure for me when it comes to journos.
10 Apr 2026 08:12:09
Yep. The D Telegraph and The Athletic are at it again but the reporters themselves don't believe he'll be there next season.
10 Apr 2026 08:25:56
I'm still not sure what the point of this is? It's just going to ruin any credibility that they have.
10 Apr 2026 08:58:15
I would call these persons journalists, but shills. Shame on them!
10 Apr 2026 09:12:40
I hope you are right, Victor - although the people running this club seem so disconnected with the fans and the city that it wouldn't surprise me if Slot stayed.
It's not all on Slot, but getting a coach in who understands the need for pace, power and intensity would help things. Also, someone who gets, or tries to get, the club, the fans and the city, and stops telling us the evidence of our own eyes is wrong.
I hope it doesn't stop there though.
I hope that the changes go upwards as well. From ticket prices, to stadium entry, to apathetic displays on the pitch, there seems to be a disconnect between the club and the people that make it special - the supporters.
That bond is sacred and is what separates us from other clubs. It's unique and when we are all pulling together it is unstoppable.
I hope whoever comes in as coach and above can address that. The playing side will follow.
10 Apr 2026 09:15:14
There are great football journalists like Daniel Taylor, Matt Lawton, Sam Wallace etc, and then true shills like Jamie Jackson, so as in all things, a mixed bag. You won't find many better writers anywhere than the late Hugh McIlvanney.
10 Apr 2026 09:24:02
Where is Bayern Space posting now his Twitter account is suspended?
10 Apr 2026 09:25:06
There's probably a bit of a franchise mentality in
those running the club. In many ways, for them, we could be based anywhere.
The positives, though, as the games changed, are that we've been able to watch players like Suarez and Torres, and be managed by Jurgen. It's a double-edged thing, but somehow they need to restore some local connections.
10 Apr 2026 08:39:19
Can we ask Fornax to translate Bayern Space's post into ancient greek so that we can understand it even less. Eds?
10 Apr 2026 10:06:24
Thank God for that.
10 Apr 2026 10:09:48
SlotSlitShatShot, Sam Wallace is one of the reporters saying Slot will still be here next season.
10 Apr 2026 10:11:28
There can be no way that Slot is still here next year, iv read all that nonsense online over the last few weeks n though, wow these journalists must be paid by the club to write this stuff.
10 Apr 2026 10:12:23
We're in a dystopian era. Arne's at it as well in the media. They seem to think they can PR the problems away. They just need to work and play harder, fight more, score goals and win games and that's how they might start to win back confidence and support.
10 Apr 2026 10:19:24
It will come to a head at the end of the season. No good getting stressed out, guys, it is what it is and only the suits upstairs will make the decision whether he stays or he goes.
Good luck to everyone betting on the national.
YNWA
10 Apr 2026 10:36:59
Bayern space is Itkspace.
10 Apr 2026 10:49:42
Thanks, VG...
Appreciate the feedback
I wonder if the same people, who advised the journos, have also advised the players to show support for Slot as well.
10 Apr 2026 12:45:17
Whatever new manager comes in, hopefully it's done pretty quick.
Going to be difficult to adapt to another system.
Replace Mo and Robbo.
Majority players missing for WC.
10 Apr 2026 12:56:54
FWIW, Bayern Space has, without a doubt, knowledge on the situation. He was calling that Wirtz was going to us when all reports linked him to City and said that's why he was in England. He has links to German related media that would have links to Xabi and his team during their time in Germany.
I would believe every word he says. There is a reason Bayern got his account taken down.
Ken.
10 Apr 2026 13:05:59
Liverpool's PR efforts are quite sad tbh. People don't believe a word of what the journalists say, yet they put out puff piece after puff piece despite the fact. Why?
10 Apr 2026 13:19:12
I'll go out, say this, Slot will not be here next season and book mark this, he's lost the fans and he knows it.
10 Apr 2026 13:46:42
They are just saving face, we have been told by Carra, Slot is gone in the summer, there is no point in the club saying anything other than they support him now, as they won't sack him early.
10 Apr 2026 15:17:56
Thanks VG. Like I used to say about Ed002, it if isn't posted here by one of the proven ITK, i don't believe it. Journo's are the last people to believe.
09 Apr 2026 22:20:28
Hearing really concerning rumours that Konate is close to signing a new deal! WTAF are Hughes and Edwards doing? He is a total and utter useless liability! Our club is in more trouble on and off the pitch than I ever imagined if this is true! …. lose Guehi and keep this Sunday pub player - Massive joke! 😡😤🤷🏼.
09 Apr 2026 22:35:34
He's not that bad, look at what the guy has won. Klopp had a lot of faith in him.
We need some continuity with Leoni and Jacquet waiting in the wings.
That tackle last night that was initially given as a penalty was a brilliant challenge.
He makes mistakes, but so do a lot of defenders in the Premier League.
09 Apr 2026 22:45:48
I think Konate has been exposed by our non-existent midfield and our right back issues. He, like a lot of other players in the team, could do with a match or two break, but we have no one else to bring in. There is no competition for places, so players can play badly and continue to get picked.
Slot built the squad this way. It's not Konate's fault. I personally think people should lay off him. His father passed away recently and this has obviously been a very sad time for him. Also, if he decided not to sign a new deal you would be giving him hell too, so he can't win, can he?
09 Apr 2026 22:57:29
If I had to pick one player that's most responsible for our poor season, I'd pick Ibou, can be brilliant, but too many brain farts. (He's not the only one of course).
In his defence though, there's been zero real cover in front of him. Grav and Macca aren't it. Praying for a ball-winning no 6 this summer.
09 Apr 2026 23:09:26
I'm praying for a new CB, RB, back up LB, 2x new midfielders and 2 new wingers. I wonder what stage FSG will make the "we are going to have a quiet transfer window" statement.
10 Apr 2026 00:12:56
We have a ball winning no. 6 Wataru Endo. Slot won't pick him.
10 Apr 2026 00:18:23
RedTed, Endo is currently out long term injured, but even if he wasn't, he's not the answer and it's a thing that has been ignored since Fabinho left.
10 Apr 2026 01:16:27
Konate is a title winner. He's had a poor season like many others, but when his head is in the right place he's a very good defender.
It hasn't helped him that Virgil keeps dropping 5 yards deeper than him instead of holding the line. It means he can't push up and play offside, so has to turn and chase back.
I honestly believe that Virgil's reluctance to allow anyone to run in behind him is the root cause of most of our issues. He drops too deep, too early, which stretches the pitch and creates a gap between the defence and the midfield, which the opposition are exploiting, and it's giving the rest of the back 4 no chance to defend properly.
Think about it, when was the last time you saw us push up as a back line and play the attackers offside? We used to defend that way as a rule, but now we are dropping deep as Virgil is terrified of anyone running in behind him.
That being said, if they are giving Konate the £300k+ a week he was asking for after this season that would be madness. Half that would be more realistic, perhaps with performance-related add-ons.
10 Apr 2026 05:01:28
Endo? Just say you don't watch Liverpool games, dude.
10 Apr 2026 05:23:08
Wasn't suggesting Endo is *the* answer. People are asking for a no. 6. I'm pointing out we have one. Sure he's not a 'Fabinho' + never suggested otherwise. Never said he was a deep lying playmaker either.
But if you want someone to sit and break up opposition play. He is the best of what we have available. Had forgotten he was injured though - my bad. Would I love another Fabinho - of course I would.
10 Apr 2026 05:37:56
I don't mind Konate staying and being phased out by one of these youngsters. The key thing is, is this new contract going to put him on silly money like Gakpo and Gravenberch?
10 Apr 2026 06:48:17
Ron, normally I agree with a lot of your posts but trying to put any positive spin on retaining Konate is delusional. There's not one other single top tier team that would have him in the squad let alone the starting eleven. Terrible player and even worse decision.
10 Apr 2026 08:17:33
Agree, Shanks. It's like saying Traore was a good player because he won the European Cup.
Konate is a poor player. End of conversation.
10 Apr 2026 08:31:47
I've been critical of him this season, but he captains France, and I am pretty sure you put him in Arsenal or Cities first 11. He would be a beast.
{Ed001's Note - not a chance, utter delusion. He is awful and would get nowhere near Arsenal's reserves, let alone first 11.}
10 Apr 2026 08:53:44
Say No to Drugs Hallion.
10 Apr 2026 10:14:09
Konate is awful. What are you watching. He's a mistake every game.
10 Apr 2026 10:26:47
I am not a fan of Konate, but in his defence, the way this clown has the team set up, Konate is struggling with covering right back and his own position. One thing he needs to stop is giving away free kicks in dangerous areas by man handling players. YNWA.
10 Apr 2026 12:09:44
He's a quality player, they're queuing up for him. Maybe manage him, and the players around him. I dunno seems a little conventional. Madrid, PSG ain't knocking for a laugh.
10 Apr 2026 13:42:43
Istanbul... He is free like the Spanish Judas was, both could have signed contracts at the club.
10 Apr 2026 14:57:08
He captained France once when all the first 4 captains were missing! Terrible defender. All he can do is man handle players and make stupid tackles. I swear some people don't watch the games. Some of his mistakes this season have reminded me of someone wearing clown shoes, tripping and falling over everything. Literally.
10 Apr 2026 18:31:26
Konate has now become a liability and has been getting worse season after season. He should not even be offered a new contract after trying his luck running his contract down. Always tugging at players and bear hugging them. You can add the main man Virg to that now also, not the tugging and hugging but he’s well off it too, always blaming others for his own mistakes, and players skipping past him these days but he still has the aura and obviously still thinks he’s the bees knees. Well, you aren’t Virg, with Robbo and Mo going also this needs some serious building again. Add Grav, Macca, Jones and Gakpo to this list also. Serious issues in the first 11, then you have to look at the squad depth, which is really poor.
Obviously not helped by injuries and a truly shocking manager that isn’t even half committed imho. Never was the messiah. Was only gonna be this season he was judged for me and with the great players that were brought in also, he’s flatlined the whole ethic of Liverpool FC which Klopp helped rebuild. Shankly, Paisley, Kenny and Klopp would never stand for this s***. The fundamentals of training and fitness are nonexistent. Blame the players sure as well. But if my boss wasn’t arsed and I was mega wages either way then why would I be arsed. Premier League is going to the dogs full stop.
09 Apr 2026 18:38:51
Andy Robertson will be leaving in the summer - source, the club itself.
Reliability ratings for the source? Solid 9/10 usually, this season 2/10.
09 Apr 2026 22:19:45
A fantastic player and a legend. His performances and contribution have been exceptional. He leaves as our current best LB and will be missed. Congratulations to him and best wishes for the future. What a player!
09 Apr 2026 22:33:57
Viva, he's not our current best LB, his legs have gone and he is a liability. I love the bloke to bits and really enjoyed watching him over the years, but don't get sentimental. Kerkez is better. I too wish him all the best in the future.
09 Apr 2026 22:51:23
@Kerkeez's uncle. you are wrong. His positional play, reading of the game, movement on and off the ball, his passing and game management are far superior. A nice flowing mullet and blindly running in a mole hole are not winning characteristics unless your god father is a certain Mr Hughes.
09 Apr 2026 23:26:05
Some might suggest that many players' legs have gone, regardless of age, and reasons for it.
10 Apr 2026 00:10:40
Best left back in the world for about 4 or 5 years. Looked perfectly at home in a great team. Thank you Robbo, very best wishes for your next adventure.
10 Apr 2026 06:30:51
Sad to see Robbo go, but it is necessary. What a player, what a man, and all for £8 million. ❤️
10 Apr 2026 13:50:58
I think Robbo started to struggle when Gini and Mane left. Still a full back legend though. Good Luck Robbo.
10 Apr 2026 18:33:16
Robbo should have been captain in his prime... Virg is no captain.
09 Apr 2026 19:11:38
Robbo has confirmed he's leaving at the end of the season, top player and top bloke.
09 Apr 2026 19:46:37
Top signing.
Another legend who will always get a cheer from me when he comes to Anfield.
09 Apr 2026 19:52:46
Devastating news. I really do like Robbo and will be sad to see him go. At this rate, we will have no true pros left at the club and just the dross that Slot brought in. Don't get me wrong, they are all good players, but not for Liverpool. I preferred Klopp's rough diamond approach, you know, players that run and try etc.
09 Apr 2026 19:53:24
Poorly treated by Slot this season, imho. Kerkez should never have come straight in. He should have earned the right to play - that's always been the way it has been done. Slot sent out poor man management signals with that decision, and he's continued to show his poor man management skills all season.
Best of luck, Robbo. Will never get your iconic chasing down the ball when you first started with us. Legend.
09 Apr 2026 19:55:50
Legend. In the legendary time. Top man. All the best, Robbo, and thanks for all that fantastic effort and football.
09 Apr 2026 20:20:31
One of the best left backs to play for the club.
09 Apr 2026 20:36:31
Top player and top bloke. Legend no doubt.
09 Apr 2026 21:23:13
He goes with our highest regards, the best Left Back we've had since I started supporting the club in 1986, in my opinion (I missed out on Alan Kennedy's best years).
09 Apr 2026 21:48:50
Love the bloke, and he puts a massive emphasis on Klopp's ability to make stars and not buy them. It underlines how poorly Slot treated the remnants of Klopp's team. Robbo, for me, in his own way, showed more loyalty than Trent, and, to me, that makes him a legend.
09 Apr 2026 21:59:58
Legend, pure and simple. Will never forget him ruffling Messi's hair. :)
09 Apr 2026 22:42:17
Amazing player, role model, and a leader.
We desperately need more pros like Robbo in the team!
10 Apr 2026 00:44:13
Always been the toughest spot since I remember as a Liverpool fan, Stig Inge Bjornabye, Riise and I loved Riise but Robbo is on a diff level to any left back I've seen in my time as a lpool fan! Different gravy on the field, but also off the field, you always see he's a top bloke and a genuine guy.
Love Robbo, again more abuse than he should have got towards the end by so called lpool fans. Will miss the player and the man! All the best pal!
09 Apr 2026 14:16:14
Not from my player and I’m not back up the ladders for his windows until next week but someone else in our place who has some of the Cheshire lads (incl. #LFC players on his books) …
Slot to go before the end of the season.
Incidentally, I’m trying to nick one of the LFC boys off him in Alderley Edge in the summer so that will hopefully increase ^ my intel.
All the best, guys … We will be back. 🤞
09 Apr 2026 15:32:12
Love it, clean sheets. Keep bringing the filth!
09 Apr 2026 15:54:37
Love these types of rumours, Slot is becoming a pane in the gl-ass!
09 Apr 2026 16:07:56
Any news on the transfer window, Cleansheets? And please be transparent.
09 Apr 2026 16:11:20
Love it ...
Thanks, man.
09 Apr 2026 16:33:02
Doesn't really make sense... before the end of the season is like right now... what's the point in going with 2 games left!
09 Apr 2026 16:36:25
Might have to stop blaming Arne, sounds like he might have been framed, and winning the Champions League will be harder than climbing Everest.
09 Apr 2026 17:45:27
Arne Slot isn't going anywhere until the end of the season.
I hope we see the following next week.
Ekiteke
Rio Wirtz, Salah
Szoblai
Joe Gomez as a defensive midfielder.
Kerkez, VVD, Konate, Frimpong
(Macalister and Gravenberch) don't even make the bench. I just don't know why we play these two awful players this season.
09 Apr 2026 18:42:30
I can see straight through this rumour.
09 Apr 2026 19:20:21
Why hasn't Slot started Szboz, Grav, and Wirtz in the midfield? If we can get decent fee, sell Macca.
09 Apr 2026 21:39:47
He has and it didn't work, not strong enough.
09 Apr 2026 22:39:26
It pains me to see what has happened to our beloved team.
10 Apr 2026 00:13:57
Nice work @OP. Shame that the thread was hijacked.
09 Apr 2026 13:33:39
I’m sure Carra and others have posted this much earlier but I’ve also heard Slot knows he’s gone.
I don’t know how that thinking plays out but for the players I don’t think they can engage anymore. Season is a write off.
09 Apr 2026 15:05:43
Jurgen is a leader, a figurehead, a motivator, and one of the great football brains. He commands respect.
Slot is a bloke from Holland who knows a bit about football.
09 Apr 2026 16:40:05
Looking at past Liverpool managers.
Some were charismatic. Shanks and Jurgen.
Others maybe not so much, Kenny and Bob.
But for all these men, players would run through a brick wall for them.
Does Slott inspire the current players?
09 Apr 2026 20:12:56
Kenny not charismatic?
09 Apr 2026 20:20:04
All very shrewd, knew what to say and when. Also very driven and understood what it meant to be our manager. Tactically all very very good, and knew what type of football was needed to succeed in the era in which it was played.
09 Apr 2026 21:55:22
Reports in the media tonight are that Slot is being given another season. If that's true, then next season will be a relegation battle.
09 Apr 2026 22:46:36
Impossible, VV. The ownership cannot be that stupid.
10 Apr 2026 00:17:54
@FSW, Jurgen was / is messianic and a brilliant motivator but with the best will in the world he isn't one of the great football brains. There are few anywhere near as good as he is in terms of genuinely passionate motivation but there are better football thinkers.
10 Apr 2026 03:02:55
Can you justify that statement, West Derby, specifically that Klopp isn't one of football's great thinkers, or is it just more waffle?
10 Apr 2026 12:20:54
Bristol Red,
If you read the post I wrote, maybe not as charismatic as Shanks and Jurgen. I was not being critical. My point being, they were all incredible managers in different ways. They inspired players. I don't believe Slot does.
09 Apr 2026 11:17:13
Can anyone comment definitively as to why Alonso can't/won't join now?
Of the most plausible possible reasons (ranked in order):
1) Alonso can't join another team that is still in the CL if Real are too - this one makes sense, albeit if this is the reason then he may be available to join soon!
2) Alonso's agreement with Real prohibits him from joining another team this season - again plausible and in which case we have to wait and see out this season without him.
3) Alonso has decided to take a break from football until the summer - I think, as was the case with Klopp, that given our dire straights right now, we could have persuaded him to join sooner.
Of course, these are only the reasons that Alonso wouldn't be able to join us.
There is also the scenario that our powers that be are genuinely giving Slot a chance to turn things around.
I did at one stage sympathise with this position - we're not known as 'hire em and fire em' employers and I am very, very pleased about that. However, I'm with virtually everyone on these boards in fearing the worst case scenario of no UCL next season, and the impact that would have on recruitment both of players and even the manager.
Anyone got a sense of which of the scenarios above (and indeed any others) as to why Alonso is not here already making his plans for both getting the most out of this season and making his plans for the future?
09 Apr 2026 11:26:27
How old are Alonso's kids? Maybe, he doesn't want to move them mid-school year and unlike Slot, doesn't want to do a half arsed job cus he's flying back to Madrid every few days.
09 Apr 2026 11:30:01
Could be any or many of those you mention, Zeddicus. Might also have to do with the football hierarchy going through significant change again this summer with Edwards' and Hughes' futures in doubt.
The best coaches/managers would prefer to commit to stable clubs.
09 Apr 2026 11:52:56
I suspect he doesn't want to come in now and possibly miss out on CL football.
Better to start with a clean slate in post season.
09 Apr 2026 12:00:43
Slot is still employed, that would be the main reason Alonso hasn't joined, I would think.
09 Apr 2026 12:20:32
I refuse to believe that Hughes and Edwards and beyond that FSG can't see that Slot is the wrong man.
I'm sure they have been working on options but for whatever reason the right option has not been available. This is such a huge decision that they have to get right, so I'd much prefer them to wait if that means getting the right man in the summer.
I'm not a fan of interim managers, it's too much upheaval and too many voices in the players' heads. I completely understand why they would not want to change mid season just to change again in the summer.
09 Apr 2026 12:22:19
Additionally, to what was said above, maybe Alonso is not the target? I don't know who could be, if not Alonso, but maybe.

Could be a hefty financial clause in his Madrid contract, whereby he is still getting paid.
Didn't Di Matteo carry on being paid his full salary by Chelsea after he was sacked until he found a new job, so he basically just went on holiday for a couple of years and got paid £130k a week.
09 Apr 2026 13:28:18
Definitively?
No, no, they can't.
There are other plausible scenarios.
1) Alonso doesn't want to manage Liverpool, he's turned us down before.
2) Alonso is not first choice and the first choice is not free until the summer.
09 Apr 2026 13:38:23
And maybe because Slot still has a year left on his contract, which he intends to fulfill.
09 Apr 2026 14:26:40
I don't think Alonso is the first choice and I can see why. I'm sure FSG have others in mind who are currently employed. They are gambling on us getting CL next season and if we don't they see it as a blip.
One season out of the CL happened under Klopp.
It's not the end of the world. What matters most is the rebuild. I can see Alison, Konate, Robinson, Macca, Jones, Cody, and Freddy all joining Salah out the door.
09 Apr 2026 16:31:52
Alonso probably put on gardening leave, which usually means he is still under contract and has to abide by Madrid's say so, and they could also ask for a fee to release Alonso from his contract.
Plus Alonso would lose a few million in wages.
So he has to sit tight while negotiations go on to free him from contract.
YNWA.

Hopefully Alonso doesn't join. Boss player and cheered him every second week from the Kop, but something tells me he doesn't truly want the job. Don't know him, as it's an opinion, but it'll end in disaster. If the other fella wins it again with PSG then hopefully he'll want that new challenge.

You know, I'm sure I saw a conversation very, very similar to this somewhere not that long ago.
09 Apr 2026 07:10:53
For what it's worth (and it's not that much), Allisson is sharing the front page of today's Gazzetta dello Sport (Italy). Apparently Juventus have approached him and he gave off positive vibes about it. Apparently Spalletti (his ex-Roma coach) wants him back.
09 Apr 2026 07:59:04
Another massive summer of change, already losing Mo and probably Robertson. With uncertainty over the manager and the board and the added World Cup it's really not ideal.
09 Apr 2026 09:35:23
Allison is constantly on the treatment table, it's time for change.
We had a brilliant squad during the Klopp era, but most are now past their best, Salah, Robbo, VVD, Allison all need to go now, it's done.
09 Apr 2026 09:37:26
Can see why it might appeal to him now, but I hope he'd see out his contract. He's the last one left from Klopp's golden team who hasn't had noticeable decline yet, but has missed more matches with injury than almost any keeper I can think of.

This is a big transition job, and it needs to be led by the best we can get. In terms of the manager, the team of coaches, and the directors of football at the big clubs in Europe, it's hard to see who can step in as a back room set up and be guaranteed to deliver success.
I think the FSG approach of recruiting to a model of an up and coming head coach, with an inexperienced sporting director from smaller team background pulling the strings, would be a failure if they went down that route again.
We need big club mentalities and workaholics who will do what it takes to ensure we can stay near the top.
Xabi, maybe can pull it all together, but perhaps the better option given where we are would be Simeone. He and his team have defied the odds over a long period of time, and apparently are looking for a change in the summer.
09 Apr 2026 10:14:42
I would not want to be in the dressing room with Simeone if I had only given 99.99%. The man is a beast.
09 Apr 2026 10:14:54
Shughes55, and got to sell Konate asap as he's a total and utter liability. Absolutely woeful and clueless last night, stumbling around like a headless chicken!!. 😡😤
09 Apr 2026 10:26:42
I'm personally not concerned about the transition - I expected it when we spent so much in the summer.
I'm more concerned about having the right coach and leadership group to manage it. Both of these have been substandard this season, and both need to be dealt with.
Not sure changing the coach will be enough.
Who are the leaders now?
09 Apr 2026 10:27:36
Simeone sets his teams up to be a solid, defensive block and hopes to nick a goal whilst employing darker arts than he who shall not be named. I do not think he would be a good fit. I don't believe he speaks English either, let alone Scouse!
09 Apr 2026 10:42:13
Apparently his favoured move would be Inter. I just think, with this group of players, with a lack of leaders in the dressing room, we need a manager with real presence. The players need a leader and figurehead, and the club needs push back against Edwards and Hughes.
The Americans are good business people, but I think they're less good at choosing the right football people. The Glazers had a similar problem, and the Chelsea lot look equally devoid. Jurgen may have been too obvious to ignore.
09 Apr 2026 11:16:48
There are many issues, but I would remind people that Utd looked abject under Amorim, and a common sense manager has made a huge difference. There's still some real talent in this squad, problem is the players lost faith in Slot months ago, and have sub-consciously lost all of their edge / confidence, that's why it's so baffling that the decision to sack him hasn't already been taken.
Spineless leadership.
09 Apr 2026 11:45:25
Part of the problem seems to be that the Americans have delegated all football decisions to Edwards and Hughes. They're not being held accountable yet as the hedge fund don't care about the quality of football so long as we get CL qualification, so Edwards and Hughes are not holding Arne accountable.
09 Apr 2026 11:45:58
We cannot afford to let Virgil and Alisson go. They're pretty much the last part of our 'spine' albeit a very spineless season. Let them go, you've got another season of finger pointing at replacements who haven't bedded in.
09 Apr 2026 11:56:26
DSL, I don't think anyone really wants them gone. It's more a case with Ali that he just can't do it physically, and VVD is visibly declining, and how many errors can we afford? They're both on huge money which could be recycled to get better players in.
The new players won't be better than them at their best, but better than this version of them, that's part of the transition.
09 Apr 2026 13:08:54
Fair enough mate, think I've heavily got blinkers on when it comes to them two. In relation to Alisson, I firmly believe his legs have gone, hence why we're playing short passes from goal kicks - my theory, that is not saying it's gospel.
09 Apr 2026 13:12:35
They might become better than them too, Overkill, but it'll be a very hard act to follow that's for sure.
09 Apr 2026 16:03:08
They're the best keeper and centre back that I've witnessed playing for us. Hypia was great as well, and keeper wise Reina was the next best I've seen but not at Ali's level.
09 Apr 2026 18:36:30
They are fantastic. They have cemented a legacy for others to aspire to.
