Hello reds! Hope the Thiago news got everyone even more excited for next season.

I would have 2 questions for Ed002. If a right winger were to come in as back-up, what would happen with Shaqiri?

Also, with the Thiago news confirmed, will Ox be placed on the market?

Tbf I hope they both stay as they seem great personalities in the dressing room. Thank you Ed and all the best lads.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Shaqiri and Harvey Elliott would be the two impacted by an additional RW. There is no sign of either leaving right now but the club would have to sell another RW in Harry Wilson to make it possible. There have been no efforts to sell AOC so far and the latest Press Release is hazy about when he will be fully fit.}

17 Sep 2020 21:23:24
Sarr is right-footed and can and has played on the left plenty. Also as a striker. I would expect him to be Sadio's backup/ competition, for now. AOC has nothing to do with it, just hope he gets himself fit sometime soonish. Wilson + Grujic (possibly Shaqiri) money should cover Sarr's pricetag.
I'd still rather lose Origi than Brewster, but the squad will be in good enough shape come October 6th.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Who are they all being sold to?}

17 Sep 2020 23:08:45
Ed it’s very simple you just transfer list them and then click “offer to clubs” and you’ll get a fee within days.

Is that not how it works?

Thats probably the best comment ever TSR.

18 Sep 2020 07:57:45
"transfer list and set to not needed" tick box ticked!

Agree2 Disagree0

18 Sep 2020 07:43:56
I thought that with Thiago signing, we're at the maximum for non-HG players. Am I right, or do we have room for 1 more?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool need to make space, they have too many right now.}

18 Sep 2020 07:59:34
List them on Amazon Ed02 lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Sep 2020 13:02:04
Put them in the 'shop window' against Lincoln and then sit back and watch the bids roll in. lol
Yeah but this is exactly why I find the Dembele loan rumour more credible than Sarr for 30-40 million.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 14:53:36
Ed002 - Sarr to Liverpool for 40M. Apparently it is being reported that Watford has accepted a big of 25M upfront + 15M in adds-on. Any truth in that claim?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

17 Sep 2020 16:35:40
Sounds unlikely unless we sell fringe players? Or?

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 17:06:56
Twitter rumour I think.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 17:18:41
Isn't that less than Watford paid for him? The £25m up front I mean?

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 17:20:09
Can’t see Sarr coming in until outgoings are finalised.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 17:30:12
As Hailstones has already pointed out surely Milot Rashica would be a better cheaper alternative.

Agree2 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 17:34:18
Must be in the pipeline maybe they are agreed just not in the public eye - i imagine there must be exits planned for Grujic and/ or gini (or both), Wilson, Brewster maybe, karius and possibly shaqiri If sarr were to sign.

Any other funds on a Cb please kloppo.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 18:15:49
Actually we have a lot of players to sell including the ones from academy. We have atleast two keepers to move karius grabaara or kelleher. Then we have philips in defense who can be moved. Then in midfield obviously wilson, grujic, shaq and we have woodburn. Upfront origi brewster and awoniyi are available that's 11 players to be sold. Club should focus on loaning and favorably selling these players first. That is atleast 80 million worth of players and about lots more in wages to save.

Agree4 Disagree0

18 Sep 2020 02:54:32
Can someone confirm to me that Sarr is actually any good and worth that sort of fee? The few times I saw him play for Watford, I must not have been impressed because I never noticed him. Also, we are full to the brim with afcon impacted players so I’m not sure why we keep jumping on that boat?

Agree2 Disagree0

18 Sep 2020 15:39:54
@AK how did you arrive at £80mil? Can I have a receipt for that valuation mate? Good point about some of the academy players though. As the days gone on this is looking more likely.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 10:03:56
James Pearce has claimed that a fee of 30million euros has been agreed with Bayern for Thiago. If true, I don't think it's a coincidence we've finally moved forwards with the negotiations right after we agreed a fee with Sheffield United for Brewster. Would be over the moon if we (finally) sign Thiago!

Believable7 Unbelievable0

17 Sep 2020 10:27:17
I think €30 mil for a 29 year old with less than a year on his contract is a bit too steep.

Agree3 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 10:46:18
Top lfc journalists, now stating. Deal is £20m paid over the course of the 4 year deal. With £5m add ons linked to premier league and champions league success. Cracking deal! Fantastic player with experience and winning mentality.

Agree24 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 10:46:40
time will tell, let's face it, £30m is a lot of money, but in football, as in many things, a player is worth what somebody will pay.

Time will tell if he proves worth the investment, I for one will ignore the money and enjoy the player dictating the tempo for Liverpool. If it happens that it.

I hope Ginni stays, but wish him all the very best if he goes, he has been a wonderful servant and we were all a little underwhelmed when he signed!

Agree5 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 10:54:11
i've seen other rumours its a 20m fee with 5m of bonuses. Tbh it doesn't matter as its not our cash and I am guessing someone is in the process of leaving to free up the funds and space in the squad.

Yes it's dragged out but the club have got it done and now need to make it official with the anfield lean.

Agree5 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 10:54:54
I heard it was £20m up front and add ons based upon winning trophies etc to take it to £27m.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 10:55:07
apparently he stayed in the Titanic hotel last night, in town to do the deal!

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 10:55:30
He’s a 60m baller all day long if not more! We’ve sold solanke and Ibe for 20m a pop u jokin!

Agree10 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 11:03:25
Red Rumour- he's one of the best players in the world. €25m rising to 30 looks good business to me.

Agree5 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 11:03:32
It’s £20m plus £5m add ons, for a world class player in this day and age is not “steep”.

Agree5 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 11:05:08
Ed 2 has confirmed it to be true so it must be true! feel sorry for Brewster if he's making way for it to happen, but hope he proves LFC wrong and goes on to be a success where he ends up.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 11:05:41
keep walking up that hill then mr rumour Thiago is top top class.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 11:05:59
The one thing this phenomenal LFC side has lacked is a world-class ball-playing midfielder.

The current midfield has been exceptional and deserves all the praise it gets, but there are occasions when it's one-dimensional.

Thiago changes everything, plus he works his socks off.

Agree10 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 11:07:59

World class player, worth every penny .

Agree4 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 11:26:54
Could turn out to be an incredible signing but like Fekir just going to wait till its actually confirmed

Spaceman no disrespect but that is an exact copy and paste of Henry Jacksons tweet earlier unless that's what you were going for haha.

Agree2 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 11:27:06
I don't think age is an issue because his style of play is not explosive so I think he can continue at his level for at least another 3 or 4 years. If he contributes to winning some trophies this season then the fee will seem very fair indeed.

17 Sep 2020 12:07:47
Welcome to Anfield Thiago Alcantara!

Agree5 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 12:47:21
If we retain the title he’ll have been worth every penny of his transfer fee, and that’s speaking as someone who had severe reservations about signing him.

Agree4 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 13:11:10
Yeah Red Rumor it appears nobody cares what you think but actually it's £20m guaranteed plus the rest in add-ons dependent on him being instrumental in helping us win the Premier League and Champions League. Sounds good to me!

I haven't seen him posing with a pen yet though, so not counting my chicken nuggets. But I'm sure Rodrigo told him how much he enjoyed playing against us on Saturday so shouldn't be a problem getting him to sign on the dotted line. Now hopefully his brother can find a good Premier League club where he'll thrive and be happy. (not West Ham)

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 13:49:59
BBC reporting 20 mil plus 5 mil add ons paid over the course of his contract, so not bad all in all. 20 mil is what we paid for Lallana and JDR pointed out, sold Solanke for! Really happy with this, but I think we need to get rid of a MF, maybe not though, always good at have depth.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 14:08:49
He's top 3 midfielders on the planet, and ensures we have truly world class in each area of our team now.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 14:17:03
Bargain! How can some people be questioning the price?

James Tawkowski has had a 31 million bid turned down.

In today's market that's bang average fee for a world class player. Regardless of contract situation.

Agree4 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 14:25:22
adds some depth, quality and a plan b if we need to change thigns. Now all we need is to win the premier league, champ leauge, world cup super cup and FA cup to keep the mindless fans happy.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 14:46:02
Pretty sure he's going to be a big part of Plan A once he gets integrated into the team.
With his passing added to our fullbacks creativity we are going to tear a few teams apart.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 14:50:29
Playing devils advocate here, Thiago is a great signing, world class player. However, he is adding depth to an already over crowded midfield, in a team already worryingly close to the home grown quota.

I trust Edwards and Klopp whole heartedly but worry that a more substantial ready made back up for the front three could shoot us in the foot. Will we be as lucky this year with injuries? nobody can tell the future but we are riding our luck in that area slightly.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 14:53:06
Bobbya_Teeth, that really does put it in context. In fact it seems like daylight robbery.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 15:35:30
@Corbra666, @Shanks and @Salah given Thiago's age, length of contract, being able to speak to foreign clubs in January and other clubs baulking at Bayern Munich valuation I would have thought we'd be in a strong bargaining position. Then again if Klopp tapped him up Bayern may have dug their heels in.

I suppose €20 mil plus add ons is not bad if he lives up to his billing. As someone posted "it's not my money".

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 16:09:35
Nah, that 20 Million price plus add ons (and agent fees to be discovered later 😉) seems just about right for the C.V. era. In normal times 40 Million and more, would easily be a serious asking price. Skill, experience and loads of titles to back it all up. Where are you going to find that today? Yes he's 29 but he's not exactly on crutches, just yet.

Agree3 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 17:23:44
Caution lads and lasses - nothing has been concluded yet. From what I have read talks are not at an advanced stage yet. It would be a great bit of business if it comes off though. Fingers crossed.

It is being widely reported by a lot of reputable sources so there must be some truth in it. You who I’m happy for though? Harvey’s Man Bun. He’s advocated very strongly for us signing him over the last several weeks, HMB I bet you’re over the moon mate?

Agree2 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 10:10:57
I think it’ll happen.
Hopefully we can keep hold of Gini too, at least for another year.
I did say I thought Brewster needed to go, I’m afraid he just wasn’t the right fit for this team.
Who knows, maybe another to come in by October as well, though the incomings so far would represent a decent enough window in their own right.

17 Sep 2020 11:01:22
Great move my only question is can Barcelona even afford Gini right now, reports were saying they couldn’t scrape together 28mil for Depay so does that mean Gini is staying to play alongside Thiago, that would give us unbelievable depth in midfield if so.

And not to sound spoilt but if we can get a CB now to keep Virgil on his toes we would truly be a force in most comps this year.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 11:07:25

I want Wiji to stay but only if he signs an extension. Letting him go for free next summer would be too high a cost to pay, in these times. Would love to see how Wiji would play just ahead of Fabinho and Thiago, and all that (am really curious to see that in a game because Wiji does really well there for his national team), but these times prioritize fiscal discipline.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - Not sure Thiago is fiscal discipline? 50 million over four years?

17 Sep 2020 11:18:36
People saying Brewster needed to go and seems we do not rate Grujic enough.
My thoughts are that IF we do not give these footballers a chance to prove themselves, then we will NEVER EVER know how good they are as a fit in our Team.
Prime examples are: Henderson - at one point was considered not good at all and muted to be shiped out on loan or sold, luckily no one wanted him andgiven his chance, proved how good he is.
Origi - limited playinv time and people need to check his goal per minutes played. His stat could proved better than some other top rated strikers in the world. He is a target man who should play in the middle but played out wide abd still scores some vital goals.
Lucas - proved a vital player given his opportunity.
There are several examples like this, Danny Ings, Suso, so on.
PLEASE DO NOT WRITE OFF PLAYERS until they have played a full season with us and given ample minutes to prove themselves. Try to be in their position. If you are judge in the first few weeks in your job and not given the vhancd to prove yourself, how would you feel?
EVEN PROBATION PERIOD AT WORK IS 6 MONTHS.
Thank you for your time.
I agree with one of the people sayong the Value and age is not money well spent. There are better players than him and younger.
Think long term guys as Thiago's injury history is a big problem.
I do not want to curse it, but it could turn out to ve another AA.

Agree2 Disagree0

17 Sep 2020 11:55:27
kit - how is brewster going to get a real opportunity to show his wares? He is in the unenviable position where he isn't good enough or the right fit to start regularly for us, and he is also probably isn't good enough to bang in goals coming off the bench for us to show that he is capable. I think the best move for him is to another club, I was just hoping it'd be a loan.

With a new LB and CM bought Milners game time looks limited to say the least. Not to mention his age now. It would be his last year probably anyway.
