Hi Ed002, any truth that Fenerbahce are interested in signing Liverpool striker Divock Origi?

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach. They have already addred two strikers to replace the two who have left.}

11 Sep 2020 12:18:31
Hi Ed002, did you hear anything about Bayern agreed deal is at 31m GBP (include add-ons) and a 4 year deal with the player?

{Ed002's Note - Assuming you mean Thiago, no.}

1.) 11 Sep 2020 13:39:27
Thanks Ed002.

2.) 11 Sep 2020 16:51:26
He’s back training after all the journos said he’d been givin extended break! Just goes to show don’t Always believe what u read a.

29 Aug 2020 02:56:33
Thiago’s sister spotted in a private plane in Liverpool. It’s happening!

{Ed0666's Note - Hope he’s not signing for Everton

1.) 29 Aug 2020 07:30:36
Thank god it wasnt Harry Maguires.

2.) 29 Aug 2020 08:48:51
Are we signing his sister as part of the deal?

3.) 29 Aug 2020 09:25:10
Good aul fashioned rumour pmsl love it.

4.) 29 Aug 2020 09:40:20
Yeah, I really miss this stuff. The vans, copters and various other sightings.

5.) 29 Aug 2020 10:35:13
I hope her name isn’t Chelsea.

27 Jul 2019 12:15:25
Reports suggesting that Pepe will sign for Arsenal and Bruno will sign for Manchester Utd; both snubbing Liverpool or perhaps we weren't interested.

1.) 27 Jul 2019 12:35:04
Surely to be snubbed, we’d have to make an offer?

2.) 27 Jul 2019 12:40:37
Whereas I don’t think Pepe is all that good and at the price quoted we have dodged a bullet, Bruno Fernandes is a really good player and I think we’ve missed a trick in not going for him as he’s a talented player who scores for fun, works hard, creates chances and can cover multiple positions in midfield and attack very well, the textbook flexible attacking player.

3.) 27 Jul 2019 13:09:22
we were not seriously interested in this window anyway, Pepe was only seen as a replacement for another player and seeing as we are not selling him then no bid was made. we need an playmaker who can cover the front 3 not an expensive signing for the bench.

4.) 27 Jul 2019 13:09:46
Bit concerned we havnt pushed on to strengthen the squad if I'm honest.

5.) 27 Jul 2019 13:10:30
Also it baffles me how Arsenal will pay that price but won't pay the extra £9m for a player deemed their top target.

{Ed047's Note - to be fair Adam there is so much rubbish reported in the press, like the £40 million was all we had to spend, turns out maybe it wasn’t. 🤷‍♂️

6.) 27 Jul 2019 13:15:45
Sure we are/ were interested, but just holding an interest does not always translate to actually trying to sign them, which we haven't done for either, according to the eds. So no, we weren't 'snubbed'.

7.) 27 Jul 2019 13:21:03
If its true will be good buy, but still think you need to sort your defence out though,

8.) 27 Jul 2019 15:04:54
I’m with you 6times, we will have missed a trick if we don’t go for Fernandes, he’s creative, can play through the middle and score goals. Last season he was deployed access the left and to the right of midfield too he’s a very versatile player that would fit perfectly into our system.

9.) 27 Jul 2019 15:28:33
Think we should have thought about a CAM, so far we are relying on:
Keita - who I don't think has shown the quality to be a top player so far
OX - who's just come back from a year out, and has yet to prove himself, though i would expect he gets that chance this year.
And i guess Lallana!

10.) 27 Jul 2019 15:29:55
Drogie with all due respect, how does he “fit perfectly into our system”? We don’t play with a CAM and he’s hardly going to replace Mane is he?

I’d like a CAM to provide further flexibility, but it’s not our preferred system. If we don’t get him it’s not the end of the world, haven’t heard anything concrete about us being in for him anyway. I’m a fan of his but like the vast majority of us my ‘scouting’ consisted of the odd game and YouTube highlights. Let’s have faith in the actual scouts.

11.) 27 Jul 2019 15:40:19
He’s a versatile midfielder Eamon that can also play further forward, not only he’s creative but scores goals from midfield.

I’m at the match every week mate, you see the game from a totally different perspective. Put it this way, he’d be an ideal replacement when Lallana goes next season.

12.) 27 Jul 2019 15:46:11
Eamonsf Fernandes has also played as a wide forward player in a front three and started as a winger.

13.) 27 Jul 2019 15:57:59
Fab now fully settled, Hendo backing him up and Gini getting more freedom to get involved in goals, he is an attack minded player after all. Ox also has so much to offer as we saw before he got injured. Milner our go to guy.

We also have to remember, Klopp sets his midfield up to control the game, not to score bucket loads of goals.

That is why Klopp likes his attacking fullbacks, we have Robbo and Trent who are the best in the League and we pretty much have the best front 3 too.

We will see more from our midfield this season. Hoping Keita works out for us this season. No doubt he can score and assist.

14.) 27 Jul 2019 16:11:51
Max, I agree we Keita, when started to get a run in the team, he definitely showed his talent. His work rate and tackling was excellent. If he can stay injury free, we’ll have a good player there.

15.) 27 Jul 2019 16:57:34
I think a lot of people are forgetting just how good the Ox was playing before he was injured. Without one of Keita or Ox moving, I don't think there's space in that place in the midfield. I can't really see where we can obviously strengthen the first 11.

16.) 27 Jul 2019 17:35:38
My point was he doesn’t break into our starting 11 unless you’re thinking of replacing mane with him. Not unless we change our formation. While I’d like him, he’s a very expensive rotation option, something that might not be appealing to the player. Again I’ve not heard of any serious interest from Liverpool other then the odd transfer rumour.

Cornet feels far more likely.

17.) 27 Jul 2019 17:57:31
Not sure our midfield are set up to control games. They look more like they are set out to disrupt games with their work rate.

18.) 27 Jul 2019 20:17:10
We've had the lions share of possession in most of our games last season jk23 so I think our midfield does a bit more than break up play.

19.) 27 Jul 2019 20:36:29
If that's true, Arsenal are having quite a window.

20.) 27 Jul 2019 20:44:24
It isn't just a matter of whether LFC want another player of Fernandes quality. They know Salah is most likely leaving next year, so ideally they would want a player now who they can bed in with plenty of time.
But think about how much has been spent in the last few windows. It's an enormous amount, even taking the Coutinho fee into account, and increased revenue. Wages have also gone up.
I think it's quite likely the club are pushing the financial limits, and would be struggling to splash out another 80-100m on a top player.
We just don't have the unlimited cash that City have, we have to actually work and generate real profit as a business. It's gutting that City can just splash another 60 or 70 mill for bit part players, but we just can't do that.

21.) 27 Jul 2019 20:47:26
One of the other things doing the rounds is that although the club are apparently willing to listen to offers for Wilson, Klopp has also (apparently) promised him some first team chances this season after his efforts last year on loan. It could be that he’s done enough to save the club paying out for cover, I’d certainly say there’s no value selling Wilson to bring in someone like Cornet as he’s not discernibly better. Plus I would also say that if Brewster, Wilson and Lewis broke into the first team successfully I’d feel over the moon that our youth set up was producing the goods, never mind the fact that it would look good in terms of fair play nonsense that we’d not spaffed loads of money.

22.) 27 Jul 2019 21:42:25
Gmil you do realise our defence and attack contribute to keeping that possession as well. The midfield are very good at breaking up play and yes they are pretty good at keeping possession of the ball. Would be nice to see them being a little bit more creative with all this possession though.

23.) 27 Jul 2019 22:13:25
anonymush the whole "city have unlimited funds" argument is wrong, they still need to generate income to stay within FFP and the owner pumping money in to the club doesn't count as income regarding ffp (anybody correct me if i’m wrong like, I don’t understand finances in football despite ed2s major financial breakdown post several months back)

24.) 28 Jul 2019 11:47:53
Where has this "all of a sudden" link between Pepe and Arsenal come from?

I thought that the reason that Napoli were ahead of everybody else was of their structure of the payment of the transfer fee. Also, Ed002 categorically denied that Pepe would be joining Arsenal on the Arsenal page.

Then, out of the blue, the reason that Arsenal are now in the running is that Lille are happy for it to be paid in instalments. Why does that make sense as far as Lille stand, when they already had better arrangements with Napoli?

I'm still unsure if there's any weight to it, really.

[cue the confirmation that he's signed for Arsenal hours after I've posted this, lol].

{Ed001's Note - isn't it simply that Pepe rejected the offers from other clubs so Lille had to go down the list of offers made and take ones they were less keen on. They have made Pepe a promise he can go this summer, so they can't just turn down offers that meet their asking price really.}

25.) 28 Jul 2019 11:55:38
Thanks for the reply Ed001.

That makes sense. Although if I was an up and coming promising player, I'd be more comfortable signing for Napoli (that do have a chance of winning something) than the shambles that is going on at Arsenal.

{Ed001's Note - I am not so sure either team show signs of winning trophies personally.}

10 Jan 2018 16:51:02
Liverpool close to signing Dani Ceballos as Philippe Coutinho replacement for 22m GBP.

1.) 10 Jan 2018 17:08:42
Source? Or just a guess.

2.) 10 Jan 2018 17:16:59

3.) 10 Jan 2018 17:19:27
I read in the Independent that Real Madrid were tempted to let him go for a similar amount that they paid for him (18 million euro apparently) . If it was anywhere near that price, it seems like a snip it today's market. I've not seen much of him, has anyone else particularly? From all the hype, it seems worth a pop at that price at least.

4.) 10 Jan 2018 17:19:46
Should go for Bernard from shaktor donetsk similar to coutinho get him for 40m will be a supersatr.

5.) 10 Jan 2018 17:26:56
It was originally reported by Diario Gol in Spain and then reported again in the Express.

6.) 10 Jan 2018 17:31:35
I’d see Ceballos as more of a centre midfielder than attacker like Coutinho.

7.) 10 Jan 2018 17:36:01
In that case, Dennis, Klopp would most likely want a midfielder and an attacker, seeing as Coutinho played in both positions. I don't think that would be a bad idea to be honest.

8.) 10 Jan 2018 17:37:00
@jonny4pm - his contract is up in the summer I think.

9.) 10 Jan 2018 17:18:25
The Express is reporting it:

10.) 10 Jan 2018 17:22:05
Actually the story appears to have been reported originally by Diario Gol in Spain:

11.) 10 Jan 2018 17:40:22
Cebellos just signed last summer.

12.) 10 Jan 2018 17:57:57
Hope this us true I think he could really do well with us, similar to coutinho in the sense he had a big move that didn't workout and then had to fight to prove to everyone he is as good as the hype had suggested he would be. 20 mil would be a steal!

13.) 10 Jan 2018 17:57:58
I don’t think it’s a bad idea to sign him as he’d strengthen us through the middle as he likes to tackle as well as do the pretty stuff. He’s not had a great time of it in Madrid doesn’t get on with Zidane.

14.) 10 Jan 2018 17:58:29
Cebellos was offered to us via his rep but unlikely to go any further according to ed002.

15.) 10 Jan 2018 17:56:08
I like this player, especially if the price is anywhere round £20m. Good prospect who's not got the game time at RM, but very well thought of when he was at Betis last season. As Davey Suls said, not a Couts replacement, but a great future prospect who's already on a par with the likes of Lallana, albeit not in the EPL.

16.) 10 Jan 2018 18:04:50
Would be an interesting buy if it happens, seen a few games and highlights also and he seems to be quite skillful but can be sloppy at times.

More of a player that will take abit of training and settling in rather than someone who could make an instant impact

However I am not qualified to make that assessment and so my opinion means nothing!

17.) 10 Jan 2018 18:13:54
Ed 1 what do you think of Cebellos? Is there any truth to the rumour.

{Ed001's Note - not seen him play, and I don't know what rumour you are referring to. He has been offered to a number of clubs, one of them us.}

18.) 10 Jan 2018 18:55:43
Hi Ed. I understand that we may not be interested in Cebellos but could it be the fact we haven't really scouted the player and not have a heap of information on him. As he was offered to us then perhaps he wasn't looked at previously.

{Ed001's Note - I don't know mate, I would hope that we would have plenty of information on any player in the top flight of the major 5 leagues in Europe, at the very least. The only issue might be all the background and upbringing etc checks that should be made, but that we as a club seemed to have not bothered with in recent years.}

19.) 10 Jan 2018 20:11:53
I assume that LFC would not be interested in a loan without an option to buy.

20.) 10 Jan 2018 21:12:16
5ft-10, 150ILBS, he will get eaten alive and spit out in the EPL.

21.) 10 Jan 2018 21:13:28
He’s a class player 👍.

22.) 10 Jan 2018 22:48:55
I would rather we pay more and get casemiro.

23.) 10 Jan 2018 22:50:38

Keita - 5'8" 141 lbs

Coutinho - 5'7" 157 lbs

Just saying, like.

24.) 10 Jan 2018 23:13:08
Kante 5’6” - he doesn’t get eaten alive either 🤝.

25.) 11 Jan 2018 06:54:05
I don't mind Ceballos, but not as a replacement for Coutinho. There has to be someone else that is more established as a star player to bring in and even attempt to fill Phil's shoes.

I noticed that Filip Stevanovic was mentioned a couple of times as a solution to beef up our midfield.

How likely do you think we can get him (assuming we shipped some players out)?

31 Jan 2018 14:47:05
Carra spotted Rues in Liverpool!?!

1.) 31 Jan 2018 14:53:15
Isn't he injured. think he'd struggle to pass a medical :D.

2.) 31 Jan 2018 15:30:14
He was being sarcastic 🤦🏽‍♀️.

3.) 31 Jan 2018 15:39:57
Pretty sure you can pass a medical injured, didn’t we sign Aquilani while he was out injured?
Obviously I know that we are not signing Reus before anyone says it!

{Ed002's Note - It is not a passd, it is a failure the club see as a low risk.

29 Jan 2018 11:41:56
Hi Eds, you think we may have a signing or two come deadline day or we shouldn't hold our breaths?

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea.}

1.) 29 Jan 2018 12:15:59
I'd put money on it that we don't. I think we're done.

2.) 29 Jan 2018 12:19:56
Hold your breath and let’s see 😜.

3.) 29 Jan 2018 12:23:22
we should do, but we won't so now we have to hope salah and firmino stay fit and in form, its one hell of a gamble klopp is taking imo.

4.) 29 Jan 2018 12:58:12
united and Arsenal have definitely strengthened. We're risking falling out of this top four what a stupid decision selling him mid season.

5.) 29 Jan 2018 13:06:04
Major signing announcement - we're about to sign with Tesco as the official grocery store of LFC!

6.) 29 Jan 2018 13:24:05
No, it was not a stupid decision selling him mid season. What is unhelpful and dishonest, is to continuously blame the club for trying to hold on to a player who acted horrendously and dreadfully, threatening to go on strike and make the DR a living hell, just to get a move. Klopp did the right thing and that is that. Nothing is new here as the Ed's told us all that was going on behind the scenes BUT feel free to moan about it cos hey, that is much easier to do.

7.) 29 Jan 2018 13:28:00
Arsenal got rid of their top scorer and bought a moody midfielder, he's good on his day but I think if they had a real choice of Sanchez or Henrikh they would have taken the former. don’t see how that makes them stronger.

As for utd, all they’ve done is bought another bus conductor to shore up their defence :)

8.) 29 Jan 2018 14:23:54
Give it a rest Brover, you do anything to back up either ridiculous decisions made by the club or are always pulling down other peoples opinions,
He should NOT have gone in this window, he was under contract and should have been told he was staying till the summer, if you think carrying on without our best player or replacing said player is a good idea then you are wrong.
Any club would miss their best player but to sell him when we have momentum is daft, i suppose we're going to bring the kids in are we? Oxlade is maybe as good? Klopp has a plan and knows what he's doing? The goalkeepers aren't as bad as people say they are? Lallana can do his job?
Ive been a fan for 40 years and as much as i've seen some cracking football this season i've also seen the usual nonsense that happens season in season out, ill always support who we have at the club through thick and thin but i won't blindly champion anyone who thinks sub standard is good enough for Anfield as it isnt.

9.) 29 Jan 2018 14:41:37
Bro, your right in that we just had to sell Couts, and we did get a very good price for him, but looking back, would it have been better to have sold him last summer, giving us time to find a suitable replacement,
as it stands, Klopp is looking like a fool, for having a lot of money, but a really un balanced midfield,
these last two defeats has put a lot of pressure on Klopp and the team, and we seem to have gone from great team to a team about to lose ground fast .

10.) 29 Jan 2018 19:33:10
Happy, Klopp wanted Cou sold in the summer as he was fed up with his disgraceful conduct and had Lemar been there and all went well, Lemar would be here and Cou would have been sold. It did not happen that way, regardless of how you or I may feel about it. This was already spoken about on these boards.

Now you or I saying Klopp looks like a fool for not signing players he does not want to make him not look like a fool, is just hilarious. No manager or leader worth his salt, thinks that way and if he does, he's in the wrong job. Klopp is not that insecure, my friend.

As a manager, you do what you think is best for the team. If you go against what you believe and do things others want and things go south, who do you think is getting the blame? YOU! The same people you tried to please, will say "well, he's the manager it's up to him to do what is best for the team". See how that works. It is hard to be a manager and if you start doing what other people want then you might as well quit. I don't wan Klopp to do what I want. I want him to do what is best for the team and we will have to trust him cos we trusted him before the two losses so what changed? Nothing, IMO.

11.) 29 Jan 2018 19:37:17
Super, The info I have is the same one you have. The one the Ed's give us. All the stuff you just spouted about us needing to have forced Cou to stay cos he has a contract blah, blah, blah shows how little you know about football's inner workings or how much of the truth (per, the Ed's) you choose to ignore so you can moan and slate the manager and the owners. BTW.

23 Aug 2017 22:02:22
Did I just heard Klopp say that with CL now they can sign contracts and fulfill our ambitions, is he implying Can and new players?

1.) 23 Aug 2017 23:38:10
I actually went back and listened to the youtube clip of this 3 times. It's open to interpretation. He could have meant what you said. It can also be taken to mean that being in the Champions League is what he talks about "when extending contracts, signing new players and talking about fulfilling dreams".

I hope it means we have a busy week ahead. Get in a CB, and a defensive midfielder. If Coutinho leaves, he leaves.

15 Aug 2017 12:47:42
Dear Eds, looks like RBL is circulating Kieta's news again about bids an how much they would get this year or next. Are they changing their stances? Have you heard anything about this since Macca did say something may happen this/ next week?

{Ed002's Note - Another club has approached them, hence the question.}

1.) 15 Aug 2017 13:18:46
Juve? He will have to go house hunting in Turin whilst finding the best barbers 😂.

2.) 15 Aug 2017 13:22:03
They wouldn't afford him!

3.) 15 Aug 2017 13:24:49
Ed002 who's the other club interested? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal, Inter, Juventus.}

4.) 15 Aug 2017 13:58:51
I'd be surprised if any of these teams would pay £70m+.

With fans not back till March 2021, how are clubs going to pay wages? Worrying times for football clubs especially those with high wage bills and those without major merchandise sales. LFC seems to have high wages bills and many ‘extra’ players in the books.

{Ed002's Note - They will use income from broadcasters and sponsors. The clubs who live on the edge will suffer, as will those accumuating future debt. Clubs are aware of this but there is concern that a number of Premier League sides are not acting responsibly.}

Ed002, is it true that La Liga prohibited Barcelona from buying players (e. g. Gini) due to FFP as reports suggest?

{Ed002's Note - No, it is not really like that, someone has misunderstood. The clubs with FFP issues need to address those first and then can buy and sell but the books have to be balanced. Any payments from prior purchases and any payments due on loans have to be paid first. Real Madrid are having to raise €190M and saved wages in sales to address such payments and to cover losses associated with the Coronavirus. Then if there is money left they can start buyin. This all exludes exchanges but Barcelona need to significantly reduce their wage bill going forward. The authorities do get a percentage of sales (within certain bounds) to help with the grass roots game which is taken as a tax.}

It may be a strategy not to drive up the price.
