Brewster to Sheffield done. 23.5 million with buy back clause after 3 years and 15 percent sell on clause. Good business.

BigbadDom

1.) 02 Oct 2020 19:59:04
If I read it correctly, the buyback is active for 3 years and then expires. Its not after 3 years ^_^.

{Ed002's Note - That would be more likely.}

2.) 02 Oct 2020 20:29:35
Well read mate, I think u are right. Either way, good deal for all.

3.) 02 Oct 2020 21:08:14
Buyback shmyback.

Once in history did LFC "buy back" a player, and he was the greatest striker in the club's history.

Brewster will almost certainly never play for LFC again.

4.) 02 Oct 2020 21:53:05
Red67 can you tell me when we're signing Mbappe with that crystal ball of yours?

{Ed002's Note - Another Chelsea reject.}

5.) 03 Oct 2020 03:15:45
Red67 rush.

6.) 03 Oct 2020 07:11:27
Is it Rush, or Fowler?
Or Bellamy?

All three had 2 spells at the club.

7.) 03 Oct 2020 07:13:52
No crystal ball, I'm afraid. I would have made a few billion and bought the club.

But I do remember seeing photos of Brewster getting his haircut and what-not with a Champions League medal around his neck, and thinking: "Wow, this kid thinks he's already made it! Not a good sign"

And sure enough, 16 months later, he is a Sheffield United player.

Time and effort Klopp and co. invest to train him is time they cannot invest in Jota, a Sarr, or a Doku. Economists call it opportunity cost; Billy Beane calls it WAR (wins against replacement) . In simple terms: is this guy the best use of our valuable time? Clearly, they decided no.

I think Brewster has the potential to be a lethal striker, though. Hence the fee. But he needs to play every week, and he needs a coach who is a disciplinarian, and for whom it makes sense to invest the time. Hence Chris Wilder.

As we are repeatedly told: it's not the most talented who make it to the very top, but the most trainable.

8.) 03 Oct 2020 10:37:39
He will be a success at Sheffield. Unfortunate that we can't find time for him, but understandable. Love to see Rhian back one day. Who knows?

24 Sep 2020 06:59:40
Kouliby rumours? Has to be bs Ed's but thoughts?

BigbadDom

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of Liverpool making any approach to Napoli for Kalidou Koulibaly nor if Napoli would be will to wait for payments to be made - which would be the only way he would be affordable. With Manchester City stepping back because of the age/cost/resale situation, PSG think they are the only viable option.}

1.) 24 Sep 2020 10:00:00
I am happy how Napoli is treated by clubs. They are one of the most difficult cløubs to negotiate. Just hope PSG rip them off.

2.) 24 Sep 2020 10:05:22
I do feel sorry for Koulibaly, just at a time in life when he is entitled to be thinking of his pipe and slippers, he keeps seeing his name in the football transfer headlines. He has never done any of us harm, why not let him retire gracefully?

3.) 24 Sep 2020 11:25:11
God don’t you just hate it when clubs try and get a good price for their best players 🙄.

4.) 24 Sep 2020 11:43:08
Now now Firmane. Don't you know the Liverpool fans rule when it comes to transfers? We pay what the asking price the selling club want, its only fair and we reduce our asking price just to get rid of them. At least that's the way some on here would have you believe.

5.) 24 Sep 2020 17:26:03
Is he a top cb signing? He's 29 and last time I watched napoli which to be fair is a while ago. but he looked very clumsy, a bit like sahko was for us.

6.) 24 Sep 2020 22:06:40
He's still a very good and proven centre back. Very good centre backs are hard to come by. Would be a great signing for PSG.

22 Sep 2020 20:48:55
Hi ed1. The Sarr rumours seem to be everywhere, have you heard anything at all? Saying we have agreed a fee with Watford. Thanks.

BigbadDom

{Ed001's Note - nothing mate, I know he is desperate to join us because of Mane, so it seems highly unlikely to me unless we are worried about coronavirus issues hitting the team. If Mane or Salah were likely to be leaving, it would make more sense. This is probably the time for a bigger squad though, and it would give him time to bed in. But I don't know anything about it.}

1.) 22 Sep 2020 21:07:40
Thank you for the quick response. Have a good evening.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate, you too.}

2.) 22 Sep 2020 21:16:33
Even if we sell players who basically aren't going to feature this season (Wilson, Karius etc. ) and Origi and Shaqiri as well, I genuinely don't see how we'd possibly use Sarr, Taku and Jota with enough regularity, given that Salah, Mane and Bobby are undisputably first choice. Not to mention the occasional look in for Elliot. We'd basically be relying on injuries or corona to make Sarr necessary.

And even without Sarr, we've enough cover for pretty much anything but half the team getting corona, in which case we'll likely have fixture postponement anyway.

I reckon it's just Twitter chat with no substance and our interest ended when we decided to go for Jota instead.

3.) 22 Sep 2020 22:15:11
100% agree SR. It was either Sarr or Jota.

4.) 23 Sep 2020 00:49:25
If Sarr comes that would surely mean both Shaqiri and Origi are on their way out.

5.) 23 Sep 2020 03:33:56
Would only make sense if there’s discussions around either Mane or Salah going next summer for a large fee. I hope not as they are both extraordinary and complete game changers, as already evident from first two games. We are incredibly lucky to have both in our squad.

6.) 23 Sep 2020 06:20:35
Before we signed Thiago, I was sure that we had to sell Gini and probably Grujic to make space. Before Jota, I would have thought we'd need to move on one or two from the attacking trio before we brought one in.

I am sure there will be sales, but I am now taking a wait and see approach to any future incomings.

7.) 23 Sep 2020 06:27:53
I'm all for strength and depth, I have a theory that Sarr is purely financial. As the fee is relatively low and the guy is young and talented I think they are looking at it saying "if this guy does well when he plays we can double our money in 2 years"

If it fails you'll still get a pretty penny due to age and reputation.

8.) 23 Sep 2020 06:42:09
Or maybe we are expecting Mane or Salah to leave next year so getting Sarr on a cheap now can lessen the blow.

9.) 23 Sep 2020 07:59:27
Sarr will join if watford can get the asking price down.
I can understand why club is looking to sign players. And i see sarr as a important signing.

10.) 23 Sep 2020 09:13:30
I wouldn't close the chapter on transfers just yet. Still two weeks to go and we saw what happened in just two days. Jota has come in, Brewster is still not gone, and lots of talk about Sarr. To me, if Brewster is not gone soon and Sarr comes in, it means one of Salah or Mané is going, and going now, not next summer. Nobody knows what's going on behind closed doors.

11.) 23 Sep 2020 10:52:25
Indeed, nobody knows what goes on behind close doors but I doubt that either Salah or Mane want a move as they are already at the best team in the world. I don't think selling either of them would go down well with most of the support. We could probably get Sarr by flogging Divock, Shaq and maybe someone like Woodburn but I reckon if the club is looking at anyone at the moment it's likely to be a decent CB. Cheers.

12.) 23 Sep 2020 11:29:03
Saar makes sense to buy if we are looking to the future, we know both Salah and Mane's reps have been in contact with the likes of Barcelona and Madrid in the past. Both will be 29 turning 30 after this season, so selling one of these before their value likely starts to decline majorly wouldn't be a shock. Won't want to be left needing to replace both the year after either. That said 4/ 5 need to leave or are spending the year playing reserves.

13.) 23 Sep 2020 20:13:54
I get what you guys are saying but we only competed realistically in the league last season if we want to compete on more fronts then we need the quality in depth particularly in attack, the high energy area of the pitch I can see Klopp going for Sarr to bolster the front three so we can perform mor consistently on all fronts and not have to rely on kids in lower comps.

14.) 24 Sep 2020 17:52:31
Sarr isn't ready for Liverpool. So buy him now, and make him ready later!

27 Aug 2020 07:27:24
Hi Ed's, any update on Thiago? Rumours being that an offer will come this week? I'd think klopp will want to get this deal done before the season kicks off. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

BigbadDom

{Ed002's Note - As of a couple of days ago Bayern Munich said again that Liverpool had not been in contact with them and certainly had not made an offer. This issue might be not knowing where the money will come from and the continued reluctance of some over the age/return/injury paradigm.}

1.) 27 Aug 2020 11:08:11
The whole Thiago talk really is dragging on now and if we can’t stump up the cash then surely Klopp shouldn’t of insisted on him. 2 weeks ago everyone said we had finally made contact with Bayern but yet we still haven’t. Seems like we are scratching around penniless at the minute. I think we should stick with what we have and include the youngsters like Jones instead of flirting with players we obviously can’t get.

2.) 27 Aug 2020 11:32:50
Why do people keep asking about this? It’s going to be a slow burner or potentially non starter.

It’ll be a lot easier when people come to terms with the fact there’s no money without sales.

So far there have been no sales, therefore no transfer kitty.

3.) 27 Aug 2020 11:54:18
Ed002, surely LFC won't sign Thiago or any other non home qualified player before shifting some of our non home qualified players?
Otherwise LFC can't register these players for the EPL and their value would be drastically reduced as the buying clubs would know this.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are actively trying to sell players.}

4.) 27 Aug 2020 12:14:45
Who is this "everyone" that said contact had been made with Bayern regarding Thiago? The Ed's have consistently said no contact has been made between the clubs. Maybe stop believing "Agent Edward", and the other fools on Twitter.

5.) 27 Aug 2020 12:32:15
Irishman, literally nowhere in that thread was 'everyone' mentioned? Shaq attack, people are asking as it's a site where information can be gained from people in the know. If you knew anything I'd of asked you but as you clearly don't I'll continue to ask the eds thanks. And for your information I'm not on Twitter. Some people need to climb of that horse hey!

6.) 27 Aug 2020 15:42:08
BigbadDom I'd suggest you read the comments above.

7.) 27 Aug 2020 16:42:50
Port red, I've read them, still no everyone smart arse 🤪🤪🤪.

8.) 27 Aug 2020 16:54:08
Saucer of milk at Don’s table 😂

Yes, the Ed’s are in the know and have consistently shared what they know which is that f@ck all has happened with Thiago and that we have to sell to buy him.

We haven’t sold anyone yet so it’s unreasonable for people to stop asking the same questions expecting a different answer.

9.) 27 Aug 2020 17:48:52
White signing a new deal w Brighton it seems, so that's another one off the list. Carlos goes to ground more than Neymar and would surely give away a tonne of pens in the prem.

10.) 27 Aug 2020 20:22:34
Warm glass of shut up at Shaqs table 😂🤪😂🤪.

24 Aug 2020 11:35:37
Hi Ed's, Der Spigiel, whoever they are say that its certain that Thiago is now heading to liverpool. Have you heard anything new? Desperate for this one to be finalised. Great signing. Thanks.

BigbadDom

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool would need to agree a transfer fee with Bayern Munich, agree a deal with the player, international paperwork would need to be dealt with and a medical passed. Then they can say that.}

1.) 24 Aug 2020 11:44:33
Thank you. Are we or have we started discussions with the club yet?

{Ed002's Note - Bayern Munich made it clear they were unhappy with the illegal approach to one of their players and Liverpool formally declared an interest. They have spoken with two other sides about Thiago but Liverpool will likely now look to have a discussion with them. This has all been explained.}

2.) 24 Aug 2020 13:16:38
Thanks ed, I had seen that you said BM had complained but not that we had declared an interest. Sounds like we will hopefully move it forward now then. Thanks.

3.) 24 Aug 2020 13:32:16
Ed what's happens if the player wants the Interested club but the owning club won’t entertain talks with the interested club?

{Ed002's Note - If the club refuse to sell then nothing.}

4.) 24 Aug 2020 16:48:05
I still don’t think the club will spend 25 to 30m on a 29 old, don’t forget will still need another central defender that’s probably going to cost between 15 and 20m, no way we have the money to spend over 50m this summer.

5.) 24 Aug 2020 22:12:25
Redman 1, Klopp may be keen on getting Thiago than getting a CB to be 4th choice cos the first choice option of D. Carlos ain't happening. Klopp may think that Thiago is more of a priority than getting a 4th choice CB cos all else fails Nat Phillips could be promoted to 4th choice. Just a thought.

6.) 24 Aug 2020 22:45:56
Red Meister fingers crossed your right as he would be an amazing signing but can’t help thinking klopp wants him more than the Liverpool board do.

7.) 24 Aug 2020 23:48:39
any of the eds have any inside oil about what Thiago wants? would he be willing to see out his contract at bayern to get a move to Liverpool in a year's time?

{Ed0666's Note - would Liverpool want him at 31 and make such a gargantuan investment? Signing on fee, agent fees, salary etc.

8.) 25 Aug 2020 08:48:45
"Der Spigiel, whoever they are. " Really? You never heard of Der Spigiel? 😳.

9.) 26 Aug 2020 01:21:01
Ed0666 he wouldn't be 31. Thiago will only be turning 30 by the end of next season so I'm bemused by the constant feeling amongst us that he's only got a year or 2 left in him at best. If we pay 25 mil this summer we could realistically get the next 3 or 4 years from him by the time he's finishing a season at 32 yrs old. Why wait a year and miss out on world class calibre who's available and eager to join now. We spent 35mil on AOC when he could have been free following year. But he was vital in games his first season towards repaying our investment and thiago hungry to prove himself in England after winning everything possible in Spain and Germany could be dying to hit top form this season instead of winding down his contract for another year at a club he's just won everything available and a year with lack of hunger and getting a year older. He's not staying at bayern so makes no sense that we would wait for him next summer.

{Ed0666's Note - I’m assuming the logic in waiting a year would be to save the transfer fee mate. But I’m only for Thiago coming if Gini is leaving otherwise the transfer doesn’t make sense in a broken economy.

I am very close to losing interest in the game as money and its effects are ruining the game I love. It's making it less enjoyable for all concerned. Most of the clubs are the same, greedy so let's not just single out Liverpool ed2, as you said there are other clubs involved and all are as shameful as each other. I know u love to hate Liverpool but it does become a little tedious at times. Sorry but it's only natural to try and defend the club u love even when they are in the wrong.

BigbadDom

{Ed002's Note - This was all about Liverpool. The idea was to find a way for the Liverpool owners to extort more money from the game as they desparately try and cover their losses and make the club more attractive to sell. They roped in the Manchester United owners to support this idea and the former Chief Executive of Liverpool. All of this was supported by threats and the exploitation of the pandemic which has put the future of numerous professional clubs at risks. I see the attempts to defend the Liverpool owners and spread the blame as pathetic I am afraid. I am sorry the truth has become tedious.}

I think the season will end up cancelled. It will end up ripping through squads. Wishing Mane a speedy recovery and pray he and family stay well.

{Ed0666's Note - yes I agree speedy and safe recovery to our Senegalese scouse lion.
