Hey Eds, do you see Liverpool bringing in 2CBs if Matip were to go? Cheers and appreciate the responses lately!

Quaterrius

{Ed002's Note - I would doubt it. The should look to use a youngster or two.}

1.) 13 Jun 2023 18:30:34
I would look to get rid of Tsimikas and Matip and bring in a left sided CB that could also play left back and a right sided CB.

2.) 13 Jun 2023 20:51:02
The more I think about it micky van de ven is a centre back that likes to get forward like a wingback and is left footed also electric pace, he seems perfect for us although untested at premier league level.

3.) 13 Jun 2023 21:29:12
If we're sticking to the current system id cash in on Robertson, he hasn't been good as the left sided centre back when he tucks in. Probably still get a decent fee too and put it towards a more suited younger player. He was probably the best left back in the world 3-4 years ago.

4.) 13 Jun 2023 22:57:34
Would Van Den Berg or Jarell Quansah be one of the youngsters? I assume Williams is not one of them.

5.) 13 Jun 2023 23:17:04
We don’t have enough creativity in the midfield to play without wingbacks. Robertson still bombs forward when playing the LCB role in the new system and Trent is still a liability when falling back into the RB role out of possession. Nothing wrong with the 433, just need the players to make it work playing in their best positions. Robertson is not a CB, Trent is not a RB. Really isn’t rocket science and we learnt this previously trying to play Hendo and Fabs at CB despite having paid professional CB backups waiting for their chance.

6.) 13 Jun 2023 23:22:39
With his pace and size he could be a revelation, timber on the other side of vvd could be smart, like Micky timber is pacy and strong but defensively unknown at liverpool desired level.

7.) 14 Jun 2023 02:42:47
Luke Chambers can play at CB or FB on the left hand side I believe. He turns 19 later this month. He has 19 England caps from U15 to, U19. 14 of them are at U19 level.

Jarell Quansah can play at CB or FB on the right hand side. He has represented England at all age groups from U16 to U20 with 21 caps so far.

Along with Beck on the left and Bradley and Ramsey on the right perhaps we don’t need to spend millions and millions as our first option.

8.) 14 Jun 2023 07:57:37
Selfishly, I hope chambers goes back to Killie on loan again this season, he had a good end to the season and it's always nice to have a Liverpool player in my home towns squad!

9.) 14 Jun 2023 08:29:31
Young chambers looks very good alright WDW.

10.) 14 Jun 2023 08:43:15
I forgot about Koumetio too - I think ed02 said both he and Quansah are highly thought of by the club.

11.) 14 Jun 2023 09:53:27
And here we are again promoting all of our youngsters to an elite football squad as a solution to not doing the business that is necessary.

I am sure Alisson, Trent, Virgil and Salah signed up for that.

Promote the youngsters to the squad by all means. Give them a chance in the cup comps. No issue there. Even rewarding a few of them with sub appearances is great.

However, for an assault on the Premier League next season, we need to stop taking gambles and do what is necessary in the market.

Ibou, Matip and Gomez are injury prone and Virgil has picked up a couple of knocks now too. We need to reduce the risk here or else there's a good chance we'll face another 20/ 21 season.

12.) 14 Jun 2023 10:08:44
Personally I would go for Micky Van De Ven for left wing back/ left centre back role. Untested at Premiership level but young enough to develop. Plus he is rapid quick and a unit, therefore would be able to match and beat for pace near enough any attacker in the league. I would also get in Perr Schuurs as an another defender. Schuurs can challenge and cover both VVD and Konate who suffers from injury issues. Big solid unit and composed for his age, yet just like Micky he is young and can further develop.

13.) 14 Jun 2023 10:26:34
Which defender / defenders would you buy @FPF? Who out there that is / are for sale?

14.) 14 Jun 2023 13:08:47
Koumetio an quansa need a solid loan to develop.

15.) 14 Jun 2023 13:37:51
FPF is right in my opinion. Bradley, Quansah and Chambers are the only young defenders we have who I think are good enough long term to be in the first team squad and Bradley is probably the only one ready for next season. Matip and Gomez need to be replaced ASAP. They're simply not fit/ good enough for where we need to be. Konate and Virgil might play a bit better if their place in the team was under some pressure. Phillips clearly isn't fancied by Klopp so just let the poor bloke go.

I'd look to 1 RCB and 1 LCB. Timber and Van der Ven were mentioned above and they're both good shouts. I think it was Ed001 said that CB was a bigger issue than a 3rd midfielder and i agree. Our options at the heart of defence just aren't good enough.

16.) 14 Jun 2023 14:18:09
Agree with Pelican.

A centre back is a must.

17.) 14 Jun 2023 16:03:13
Inacio, Colwill, Tapsoba, VDV, Bella-Kotchap, Todibo, Konsa, Lacroix, Schuurs.

I’m sure there are plenty more.

As for who is for sale - good players are usually not for sale. Strange as it sounds, you have to enquire and make offers.

18.) 14 Jun 2023 17:41:21
Id have Bajcetic Bradley and Doak around the first team. Anyone else can go on loan. We’ll need about 90 points to try win the title we don’t need passengers. Konate said as much in his interview that we can’t be relying on youth next season.

31 May 2023 12:23:53
Hey Eds,

Back again. What are the plans to integrate players like Sepp Van den Berge specifically in defence, or Ben Doak and Gordon in attack. Is sepp looking to another loan or will he serve as back up to Konate in that new right centre back role?

Have a good day!

Quaterrius

{Ed002's Note - Sepp van den Berg (CB) Another loan with Schalke 04 is possible as he won't get a chance at Liverpool.
Doak and Gordon are young and may possibly get a little cup experience.}

1.) 31 May 2023 13:49:44
Sep was unfortunate with injuries but I don’t think he looked out of place in the Bundesliga, I’d hope that he can get another opportunity in the top league and have a full season!

I think we might see more of Doak and Gordon with us being in the Europa league, hopefully we can wrap up the group early to give some opps elsewhere.

{Ed002's Note - It won't be the top league.}

2.) 31 May 2023 14:00:08
Depth of knowledge is world class. Nuts to have access for free. Thanks Ed.

3.) 31 May 2023 14:06:24
Should be sold.

4.) 31 May 2023 20:35:40
Question for the Ed’s if I may? On the subject of the youngsters, and with the youth team not having qualified for the Youth Champions League do you think it will mean an increase in loans for some of the youngsters who are seen as the most promising, or will it be a case of them perhaps playing in the League / FA Cups to provide the next level of experience?

{Ed002's Note - I don't expect any youth players to be playing for the first team but the likes of Doaks, Bradley and Gordon could get a run out in the cups.}

5.) 31 May 2023 21:09:44
Thanks Ed02 really appreciate the updates - really great stuff!

31 May 2023 11:51:59
Hey Eds,

Has Liverpool shown any interest in Hicham Boudaoui? I suspect as scouts have been sent to Nice games for Thuram, they could have laid eyes on him too. Seems more versatile and from what I've seen does fantastically well in that right cm spot.

Appreciate your input always!

Quaterrius

{Ed002's Note - Hicham Boudaoui (CM) Signed a new long-term contract in January after the interest of Marseille was rebuffed.}

1.) 31 May 2023 12:16:00
So did Caicedo and he seems to be moving on.
Cheers Ed!

{Ed002's Note - Sure - Liverpool obviously have a pre-contract agreement with Boudaoui like the ones with Gvardiol, Bellingham and Enzo Fernandez. Idiot.}

2.) 31 May 2023 12:30:58
Never suggested that was the case but rather that it seems contracts don't mean as much to players nowadays. Bang on it Ed.

3.) 31 May 2023 12:53:25
I still have a fear that we will try to sign many and end up with none.

4.) 31 May 2023 13:01:50
It’s going to be a LONG summer Eds.

5.) 31 May 2023 14:48:32
Ouch!

6.) 31 May 2023 15:30:11
I fear its going to be a "cruel summer" Keith.

16 Jan 2022 19:21:40
Hey eds and reds

Realistically speaking, given we were trying to bring Bowen in for a bit part role with Salah and Mane still at the club, with him being in amazing form now compared to last season, would that role still interest him?

I think he’d be a brilliant signing if one of Mane or Salah were to go (hope Mane of the 2) as planning for Stevie G’s reign. He’s brilliant in the half spaces and with Stevie fancying the inside #10’s, I figure he’d fit right in in a Sane under Naggelsman type role.

Love to hear your thoughts.

Quaterrius

{Ed002's Note - From my perspective he remains one of the options still of interest.}

1.) 16 Jan 2022 19:52:30
That’s great to hear Ed, thanks for the quick response!

Personally, I see swapping Mane for Bowen or the likes as a sensible approach, with Kaide stepping up to back up. Ed, would selling Mane mean two forwards coming in, or is Firmino trusted for the #9 enough to shift Jota to the left and Kaide coming through the ranks?

2.) 16 Jan 2022 20:39:13
Ed002 I think Bowen is to good and out of are price range to cover Salah even before this season I thought West Ham would want £50+m but after this season that’s will be £70+m. Unless his contract is running down to a couple of years.

{Ed002's Note - It would not be as cover.}

3.) 16 Jan 2022 22:10:02
Stevies reign? No chance in hell. The rebuild job over the next few years is way above Gerrards skillset as a manager.

4.) 16 Jan 2022 23:50:30
It wouldn’t be left to SG or whoever the next manager is OMM.
The club, and Klopp, have people and a scouting system in place that do that.
And do it well on the whole, in recent times at least.
The manager is just a cog in that particular wheel.
I’m preying that the structure set under Klopp’s reign is robust enough to see us through his departure.

5.) 16 Jan 2022 20:53:27
I just can't see how West Ham would sell him now, English premium, West Ham getting closer to top 4, either West Ham will outright refuse or you're surely talking more than £50m for the guy now.

I think he's great but would be very surprised to see him join.

6.) 16 Jan 2022 22:01:35
I'd LOVE to see Bowen at Liverpool. Not sure who would be sacrificed to bring him in, but I'd be thrilled personally.

7.) 16 Jan 2022 22:04:01
Stevie G great player but don’t want him at Anfield as a manager anytime soon.

Best case scenario is Klopp signs another extension.

If Klopp leaves then maybe Pep can step up and rest of coaching staff remain?

Stevie G has a ways to go before he can be considered as a real contender for being a future Liverpool manager.

8.) 17 Jan 2022 05:58:03
I agree Tommy, he’s doing well and Villa will be good for his development as a manager but he won’t be ready for a few years yet.
Not that many great coaches around though to be fair, one to watch is the guy at Sporting Lisbon (Amorim) he has a bright future.
Klopp extending by two years would be a ‘Bobby Dazzler’ of an outcome for me.

9.) 17 Jan 2022 06:13:32
I don't tnk it's Stevie who's coming next. he hasn't proven himself in big leagues. I would love potter though!

10.) 17 Jan 2022 07:22:30
I don't think stevie or pep, pep is a great number 2 but not sure up to the main job. I'm not sure who but I like the guy from Ajax.

11.) 17 Jan 2022 07:44:10
Well if it won't be as cover then it has to be in place of Salah. In that case its a no. Most Liverpool fans are looking for clone of Salah. Same amount of goals and assists etc, that's not too expensive, doesn't want £400,000 a week. Reality is that when you're one of the best players in the world, your replacement is always going to be a backward step, at least at the start.

12.) 17 Jan 2022 02:27:03
Hi Ed. does lfc have an interest on Moussa Diaby to strengthen our forward? Love to hear your thoughts. Thank you.

{Ed002's Note - Moussa Diaby (LW/RW) Bayer Leverkusen were approached about the player by Borussia Dortmund ilast season but no more than that.}

13.) 17 Jan 2022 10:55:55
I agree Tommy. In my humble opinion Stevie Me will never be on Klopp's level.
Hopefully Nagglesman will have had enough of Bayern in a couple of years and will fancy a stint in the EPL.
If not, pep or maybe the young portuguese coach, who seem's like a real gem.
Stevie me is the emotional choice, and we know where they end up.

14.) 17 Jan 2022 12:03:12
If Mo signs his deal and we have plans to develop Harvey Elliott and Kaide Gordon, who both like to occupy that right hand side - I do not see the logic in investing in Bowen or Raphinha. Just doesn't make any sense to me unless we are of the belief that Mo will not sign a new deal.

Diaz on the other hand I can understand as he could play Mane's role off the left but even potentially as no9, with a bit of work.

17 Sep 2020 19:47:15
Hello reds! Hope the Thiago news got everyone even more excited for next season.

I would have 2 questions for Ed002. If a right winger were to come in as back-up, what would happen with Shaqiri?

Also, with the Thiago news confirmed, will Ox be placed on the market?

Tbf I hope they both stay as they seem great personalities in the dressing room. Thank you Ed and all the best lads.

Quaterrius

{Ed002's Note - Shaqiri and Harvey Elliott would be the two impacted by an additional RW. There is no sign of either leaving right now but the club would have to sell another RW in Harry Wilson to make it possible. There have been no efforts to sell AOC so far and the latest Press Release is hazy about when he will be fully fit.}

1.) 17 Sep 2020 21:23:24
Sarr is right-footed and can and has played on the left plenty. Also as a striker. I would expect him to be Sadio's backup/ competition, for now. AOC has nothing to do with it, just hope he gets himself fit sometime soonish. Wilson + Grujic (possibly Shaqiri) money should cover Sarr's pricetag.
I'd still rather lose Origi than Brewster, but the squad will be in good enough shape come October 6th.

{Ed002's Note - Who are they all being sold to?}

2.) 17 Sep 2020 23:08:45
Ed it’s very simple you just transfer list them and then click “offer to clubs” and you’ll get a fee within days.

Is that not how it works?

3.) 18 Sep 2020 03:17:05
Thats probably the best comment ever TSR.

4.) 18 Sep 2020 07:57:45
"transfer list and set to not needed" tick box ticked!

5.) 18 Sep 2020 07:43:56
I thought that with Thiago signing, we're at the maximum for non-HG players. Am I right, or do we have room for 1 more?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool need to make space, they have too many right now.}

6.) 18 Sep 2020 07:59:34
List them on Amazon Ed02 lol.

7.) 18 Sep 2020 13:02:04
Put them in the 'shop window' against Lincoln and then sit back and watch the bids roll in. lol
Yeah but this is exactly why I find the Dembele loan rumour more credible than Sarr for 30-40 million.

Hey ed002

With Klopp making the comment about Martinelli, is it wrong to assume he is one of the wingers he has an affinity for (Adama, Dembele, etc. )?

Quaterrius

{Ed002's Note - You would have to watch carefully what he did with his tongue.}

1.) 21 Jan 2022 07:52:12
Your a sick man Ed002.

2.) 21 Jan 2022 08:47:58
Eeuw!

3.) 21 Jan 2022 12:28:02
I wanted him a couple of seasons back as a Firmino understudy but sadly didn’t happen.

4.) 21 Jan 2022 12:50:36
To be fair Martinelli was absolutely brilliant last night. Would love him at Liverpool.

5.) 22 Jan 2022 13:02:19
Longthing, he was only brilliant for about 15 mins. The kid is a fighter but he is still raw and if I had to sign him or give Gordon a run then, it won’t be signing him.

13 Aug 2020 09:14:57
Good day everyone!

Curious about our youth GK situation. What's the plan for Grabara and Kelleher?

Cheers.

Quaterrius

1.) 13 Aug 2020 11:32:25
I was asked about why i rate in an earlier post so i'll just reply here because i can't find it, anyway Grabara was one the best GK's in the u21 euros last summer, pluss he had many man of the match performances for Huddersfield last season. He is capable of pulling off some incredible saves and commands his area really well. In my opinion a far superior GK to Kelleher.

2.) 13 Aug 2020 11:41:21
I would assume that both head out on loan, we have Alisson and Adrian as 1 and 2 then I think one of the younger players will be 3 maybe that younger polish guy who’s just come back from injury.

Both grabara and Keheller need to get game time to gain experience.

3.) 13 Aug 2020 11:47:11
Did he get injured while at Huddersfield? He played very little from Christmas time on.

4.) 13 Aug 2020 11:48:26
Is he anywhere near as good with the ball/ his feet as Kelleher is though?

5.) 13 Aug 2020 11:56:16
He is not as good as Kelleher with his feet, but Grabara is litterally better at everything else, reflexes, handling, positining, comand of area, one on ones, you name it, so i would say that him being a bit worse than Kelleher with his feet really doesn't matter that much, He was out for 2 months injured yes :) But i doubt we can keep him happy because he is too good to be a 3rd chouce. Kelleher on the other hand might be happy to be 3rd choice.

6.) 13 Aug 2020 12:26:58
Even though Lonergan is gone, we are swamped with GKs; Alisson, Adrian, Karius, Kelleher, Grabara and the 2 polish kids. I agree that Grabara is probably better than Kelleher, he was rated higher even before the loan. At least 2 GKs have to be sold or loaned out.

7.) 13 Aug 2020 15:16:04
*Sorry, that should have said Polish, and not polish.

12 Aug 2020 22:28:14
I'm back again with another question for any Ed who can answer!

It seems that Sarr will be a costly acquisition who would inevitably off to AFCON too. My question is: Are Liverpool not looking at other cheaper options like Bryan Mbeumo, Krépin Diatta or Cengiz Under?

Cheers then!

Quaterrius

{Ed002's Note - They are simply random names - Liverpool will not be buying for the sake of it and I would not expect Sarr to be joining.}

1.) 13 Aug 2020 00:29:51
Glad we’re not after sarr, him and Adama traore are two players I’ve seen massively over hyped purely for their physical attributes.

2.) 13 Aug 2020 09:49:08
I prefer Sarr to Traore but saying that I believe they are both overpriced.
Sarr as a good passing rate to be fair and bags of potential but I tend to agree with the Ed and don't expect anything to happen.

3.) 13 Aug 2020 09:53:11
Sarr is super raw hence, overrated.

12 Aug 2020 22:20:51
Hello all,

Ed 002 you have mentioned in the past Doku, Ricky-Jade Jones and Stankovic. All these lads are young, so my question is: Are they seen as cover and would be introduced to the first team, or would they be sent out on loans or to the academy?

Would the two AM's hinder Curtis Jones's path to the team?

Also if Doku were to sign would Liverpool look at other potential cover for the wings?

Cheers Eds, appreciate your input massively!

Quaterrius

{Ed002's Note - These are players the club has looked at - I don't see any joining the club this summer.}

12 Aug 2020 11:52:58
Hello everyone,

Just watched Shakhtar last night and was impressed with Marcos Antonio and Tete and this raied a couple of q’s for me.

Did Liverpool send any scouts to watch either of them?

And Eds 01&02, if you’ve seen Tete play or know abt him, would he be ready to provide cover for Salah?

Cheers?

Quaterrius

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have not been looking at either player. Tete has done well since his move but will not be heading to Liverpool as cover for Salah.}

1.) 12 Aug 2020 14:08:29
I don't mean to be harsh but watching x player for one game is nothing to go on. In fact it's as bad as watching a YouTube highlight video of a player. The worst of players can have the odd good game but it doesn't mean they are good enough for the best team in the world.

2.) 12 Aug 2020 18:50:09
I totally agree mate, but I follow the Ukrainian league quite thoroughly due to half of the family being over in Odesa in Ukraine and they are proper ultras when it comes to Shakhtar.

Tete has featured occasionally for them throughout this season and has shown glimpses of a very skillful dribbler, who predominantly shoots with his left and cuts inside often. He's very involved in their build-up on the right and he tracks back and defends in high quantities. To be fair I was very impressed by him and thought I'd give it a shot to see if I'd make a good scout for the club =) Cheers for the response Ed and have a gd night everyone!

3.) 12 Aug 2020 19:09:24
One to look out for the future maybe, thanks for the post! 👍👍.

Would that mean Gomez losing his starting spot or would Llorente come in as back up to him and Virgil, with one pf Lovren and Matip leaving either way?

Quaterrius

{Ed002's Note - One would expect someone to make way if Llorente were to join - and I would expect that to be Matip or Lovren. If Llorente were to arrive as a starter then I could only assume Gomez would simply be expected to provide cover for all defensive positions.}

Nice analysis Ed1, but surely the signing of Thiago would mean the departure of another player right?
He’d demand a high salary and playing time wouldn’t he? Also wouldn’t it mean Curtis may not see the XI as much?

Would a consequence of this transfer mean that Milner would provide more cover for the wing backs and a back-up left back would not be signed? Seems like the trabsfer funds are short, so what is your realistic and hopeful prediction of the incomings and outgoings? Maybe just the respective positions and not players!

Cheers!

Quaterrius

{Ed001's Note - I have already said that my belief is that Thiago is of interest to replace Gini, who has yet to sign a new contract, so needs to sign quickly or be sold. I would think it would more mean that Ox will have to play more often further forward and Millie will end up covering left-back. It does mean difficult decisions to be made, but I would expect Jones to still get game time next season.}

Thanks for the reply Ed!

You re saying sitting on the bench about Zaha. But when Liverpool were in talks with Werner, wasn t he promised a spot in and out of the first team depending on rotation and the switch to 4231? Or was he just willing to be a back up and sit on the bench?

Quaterrius

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what Klopp promised him.}

Thanks for the reply Ed.
I have to admit the Shaq comparison wasn t well thought. I did not see him attacking the inside of the field as much as Salah did, shooting, but linking up play and sometimes hugging the sideline.
The q was mainly about incorporating them into Klopp’s system. I was trying to find out if the coaching staff are moulding them into Firmino or Salah type players.

Quaterrius

{Ed001's Note - defo a winger, though Klopp likes his players to be adaptable.}

Thanks Ed,

Wasn’t the talk abt a player who d compete with the fullbacks for a starting spot? If so it seems the youth are promising enough to sit on the bench. Do you have an idea of maybe a Millie type player for fullbacks who would be fine with being a sub?

Have a good one.
