Good Morning Ed002,

Could the arrival of Luis Diaz mean either Origi or Minamino could leave this window?

{Ed002's Note - Possibly.}

25 Jan 2022 15:40:12
Hi Ed002

With Tottenham Hotspur reportedly making a bid for Luis Diaz, could you now see Liverpool making a move for the player, this window?

{Ed002's Note - No, the requirements that need to be met to have the chance of buying him are clear. Outside chance of a proposal from another side still. I suspect if he is still there in the summer then LIverpool might look to do something.}

1.) 25 Jan 2022 16:11:47
Thank you.

2.) 25 Jan 2022 18:30:00
Take him off the list so.

3.) 25 Jan 2022 18:31:57
Quality player but his price is out of budget. Will be a good addition good addition to any side and looks like he is going to Spurs.

4.) 25 Jan 2022 18:50:30
Spurs bid = meltdown on here.

5.) 25 Jan 2022 17:02:54
What value have Porto set for Diaz Ed002, do you know?

{Ed002's Note - His buy out cluase - which is €80M in a single payment. They do not wish to sell so that is what the interested clubs will be referred to - A good offer somewhere near may be of interest and may just be coming.}

6.) 25 Jan 2022 18:57:41
He’s out of our budget? We don’t have a budget we’ve no money! We’ve not sold anyone to purchase or bid for him or anyone 🥴.

7.) 25 Jan 2022 20:05:59
My 12 year old has more budget on his Go Henry card than the Liverpool owners.

{Ed0666's Note - what’s a Go Henry card?

8.) 25 Jan 2022 20:15:33
Surely he wouldn't go spurs!

9.) 25 Jan 2022 20:23:05
Don't believe everything you hear or read. Ed002 has stated €80m is the release clause so why on earth would they sell him this month for considerably less, especially as they don't want to lose him right now?

10.) 25 Jan 2022 20:24:31
confirmed spurs offer and we can scratch that one off the list! they have spent abut 250million more than us in three seasons have no idea where this money is coming from much like arsenal they aren't in champions league and won't be for a while! . and with C.V. who knows why they both have so much money despite buying players like pepe based on getting back in europe which they haven't done.

11.) 25 Jan 2022 20:41:12
Offer might be confirmed but its considerably less than the release clause.

12.) 25 Jan 2022 20:48:03
Ed0666 its like a bank card for under 16s. You can link it to your bank and put money on it and track how its spent. Gives younger teenagers thier first taste of using bank cards etc.

{Ed0666's Note - thanks mate. Well in that case your kids got more cash than FSG

13.) 25 Jan 2022 21:38:43
money well spent in north london I see . . .

14.) 25 Jan 2022 22:15:17
Spurts can't offer consistent CL football so no way.

15.) 25 Jan 2022 23:09:47
Our club is pretty good on the pitch at the mo but our transfer potential is absolutely last. LFC couldn’t afford a blozzer off a Shiel Rd lady of the night currently.

16.) 25 Jan 2022 22:05:33
Thank you Ed002, hopefully he will still be about in summer if we are still interested! let's hope Levy stays tight loo.

17.) 26 Jan 2022 01:12:47
Didn’t we allegedly spend nearly £40m on a relatively untried youngster on the last transfer window? I ask because there is a lot of stuff on here (particularly when there is not much else to complain about) about how Liverpool have no money. I’d live to know where people get their facts from.

Love the posts about the clubs who spend more money than us (in this thread Spurs and £250m 😁) and never win anything - makes you think about wasting money eh? and sort of validates what LFC are actually doing perhaps?

18.) 26 Jan 2022 09:16:34
There were a few articles saying Diaz is going to be Edwards final gift. Is 66m too much? It wasn't with VVD and Ali.

{Ed002's Note - The situation is very different.}

19.) 26 Jan 2022 10:22:55
Can Edwards buy us a player out of his own pocket and gift him to the club?

20.) 26 Jan 2022 14:13:18
If FSG are unwilling to commit funds for JK's last 2.5 seasons, they are insane.
We need a couple of VVD/ Ali level signings to come and take us up a notch.
Diaz is surely one of those players, he looks unbelievable, unplayable at times.
IF we got him now, our chances of winning CL/ EPL go up.
I'd also be interested in the French CB at Seville, after selling Nat and JoGo. He can play RB, in a 3 and looks to be top drawer.

21.) 26 Jan 2022 14:19:51
Surely he won't want to sign for spurs? can't see it imo. Thoughts?

12 Jan 2022 15:50:47
Hi Ed002

Are Liverpool actively trying to sign somebody this window or is the summer more likely?

{Ed002's Note - The summer is more likely unless a desired target becomes available - then something may happen.}

1.) 12 Jan 2022 16:44:53
City's squad is going to mean they come first most of the time, which is why our fewer and cheaper purchases need to be perfectly selected.
Do the ed's know anything about Ox and his availability? Would he be sold now if a decent offer came in?

2.) 12 Jan 2022 18:12:57
Sign someone with what exactly?
We’ve no f#%#%#% money Ed has told us plenty of times!
We all want new toys but no Mon no fun!

3.) 12 Jan 2022 18:10:37
Dembele wow available isn’t he Ed? And the interest is there as you say.

{Ed002's Note - Ousmane Dembele (LW/RW/F) Klopp's interest does not seem to go away but the attraction will be that he is a Free Agent although his preference is likely to be elsewhere unless Salah or Mane were to leave. He will be a Free Agent in the summer - Barcelona may try again with a new contract or a January sale but his agent is offering him around now - looking for a large signing on package from the usual suspects. Barcelona may spring a surprise in January and look to see if something could be done with potential targets at Juventus or Milan to reduce the price although Juve may look to an agreement to take him as a Free Agent in the summer. They may also look to an exchange with Chelsea for Rudiger but the Chelsea interest is elsewhere rather than Dembele. With Sancho arriving it is hard to see interest from Manchester United although they have been approached. PSG are seeking a French player still but have a preferred option as a Mbappe replacement. A discussion has been held with Newcastle. I suspect he will sign a new contract but the arrival of others may need to be taken in to account first. Injury concerns, inconsistent form and high wages must be considered by any potential buyers.}

4.) 12 Jan 2022 21:00:21
Hhmm ok Ed thank you fir the info again. As ever it seems we have our lot for the season unless Mane Salah and the like leave. Let a gets behind the players we’ve got and see where it takes us.

5.) 12 Jan 2022 21:40:58
Would anyone be that shocked if we actually sell Salah and wrap up free agent dembele? No sarcasm intended its something I can see our money men going for.

6.) 12 Jan 2022 22:29:44
I wouldn’t be shocked if we sold Salah. Personally I don’t think it would be the end of the world, although I do accept that’s not a view held by everybody.

I would be surprised if Dembele was the replacement. He showed potential a couple of years or so back but hasn’t progressed as far as I can see.

7.) 12 Jan 2022 22:43:02
So where do you think our goals would come from? Mane and jota are too inconsistent, although jota probably will score more goals than mane, and we can’t rely on our midfield to score goals. If we sell salah, only a player like mbappe or Harland should be brought in if you ask me…. a younger player who has the ability to score as many goals as salah.

8.) 13 Jan 2022 01:27:06
Mbappe or Haaland would likely want wages far in excess of what Salah wants to renew 😂.

9.) 13 Jan 2022 07:06:25
Fuser, laughably, even comedy footballer Ousmane Dembele wants more than Salah.

10.) 13 Jan 2022 08:10:30
WDW so who would replace salahs goals if its not the end of the world?

11.) 13 Jan 2022 09:07:05
Who replaced Rush's goals?

12.) 13 Jan 2022 09:24:13
Everyone thinks the replacement for Salah will be willing to play for peanuts! To replace Salah with anything NEAR a like for like signing the new player would also be looking for massive wages.

13.) 13 Jan 2022 11:43:58
In all fairness and I’m just playing devils advocate here. All of Mbappe, Vlahovic and Dembele are much younger players.

06 Jan 2022 07:22:43
Good Morning Eds,

Liverpool are being linked with Luis Diaz of FC Porto and I was wondering,

1, If Liverpool have any real interest in him?

2, Would a possible move, depend on moving one of Salah, Mane, Firmino on?

{Ed002's Note - 1. Yes, I have explained. 2. It is dependent on something else.}

1.) 06 Jan 2022 09:45:30
Hi Ed002, would it be possible for a move to be sorted in January, or is Summer much more likely? I just don't see Liverpool being able to find the funds in this window.

{Ed002's Note - I rather doubt Porto would be open to selling now unless someone forced the situation - which requires an €80M cash payment and the player to agree.}

2.) 06 Jan 2022 09:51:23
Hi Ed - sorry if i am repeating the question or information is below but i couldn't find it.

Is the something else - that Porto own 80% of the player and need to own 100% before they can sell?

{Ed002's Note - Yes but they have been looking to strike a deal with Junior and will do before the summer.}

3.) 06 Jan 2022 09:53:44
You a fan ed2? Highly rated but Portuguese football isn’t a league i keep up with.

{Ed002's Note - There is no doubt he is a talented player and he is scoring goals from LM in a 4-4-2 but the price is very high and it is difficult to see how he will naturally fit in at Liverpool unless utilised as a LW.}

4.) 06 Jan 2022 10:04:46
Thanks Ed for the info. €80M cash payment is all I need to read lol as we don’t have a penny. I will file this one away with the others mate.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool would need to borrow or perhaps sell (like other clubs do) to raise the money.}

5.) 06 Jan 2022 10:31:07
Higher price with a deferred payment again, Ed?

{Ed002's Note - That is not how Iberian buy out clauses work.}

6.) 06 Jan 2022 20:38:13
You may have just opened up another line of questioning there Ed02, once we all figure out what Iberian means 😉.

{Ed002's Note - The direct translation “is those in pointed hats”.}

27 Aug 2021 20:49:01
Hi Ed002

If Liverpool are unable to move certain players on permanent deals. Could you see us, letting them leave on loans ( Origi ) for example?

{Ed002's Note - Youngsters yes. Senior players probably not.}

1.) 27 Aug 2021 21:28:45
Could that possibly force us to lower our valuation of players they had hoped to move on, on permanent deals?

Thanks in advance.

Hope you have a nice weekend.

{Ed002's Note - That has already been happening.}

2.) 27 Aug 2021 21:47:16
Thanks for the replies.

Hi Eds,

Do you expect any Liverpool youngsters to head out on loan this window?

{Ed001's Note - I would have thought so, usually they manage to get a couple out.}

1.) 24 Jan 2022 16:24:26
Has Tyler Morton been made available for a loan? Or is he part of the 1st team plans.

2.) 24 Jan 2022 17:10:57
I'd say a loan would do young Morton some good.

{Ed0666's Note - I’m sure he makes plenty mate.

3.) 24 Jan 2022 19:20:44
Sorry that should have read"I'm sure he's good for a loan"

4.) 24 Jan 2022 21:34:15
I’d say Williams will go back on loan as only returned due to lack of playing time.

20 Jan 2022 10:25:22
Good morning eds

With Barcelona now wanting to move Dembele on in the January window, could you see Liverpool making a move for him, as I know Klopp is a long time admirer.

{Ed002's Note - Please see previous responses.}

1.) 20 Jan 2022 11:17:59
We are getting desperate now!
Can picture him naby and Thiago playing poker in the canteen as the usuals train hard!

2.) 20 Jan 2022 11:43:48
If he signs i'll fully support him but it would be a mental decision. It says it all that i don't even need to explain why.

3.) 20 Jan 2022 11:50:43
In fairness Jay, he’d turn up late and miss the card game.

4.) 20 Jan 2022 13:40:09
Jay dub red: why Thiago? do you think he's unprofessional like Dembele? Last I heard he has just picked up a few niggling injuries not his fault lad.

5.) 20 Jan 2022 14:03:33
Thiago has been very unlucky for us. He's had C.V. twice and got knee-capped by Richarlison.

Otherwise he would have played a lot more games. When he does play, we win a lot more often than when he doesn't.

{Ed077's Note - but he did have a tendency to pick up injuries and miss a good few games before joining Liverpool too. His availability issues didnt just come out of nowhere all of a sudden at LFC}

6.) 20 Jan 2022 14:34:38
They spent 145 Million on him, and the guy has been nothing but a sick note and throwing attitude all the time. No doubt being shown the door will hardly faze him. These type of guys learn only the hard way. When it's all gone and it's too late to fix it.

7.) 20 Jan 2022 15:01:59
He's hardly played since joining Barcelona and when he has he's hardly ripped up any trees, so i can totally understand where he's coming from by asking for a huge pay increase.

Perhaps he has the same adviser that the UK Government use. That would explain a few things.

8.) 20 Jan 2022 17:43:34
Thiago is more out then in lads! Always injured was like that before he joined! Great player amd has it in the locker but a bit part player like naby.

9.) 20 Jan 2022 18:25:53
Thiago actually played more league games than Hendo did last season. I get the frustration though with the amount of games he misses. I think he's a top quality player and i'd love to see far more of him but perhaps the intensity and physicality of this league is a bridge too far for him.

10.) 20 Jan 2022 18:53:12
The one thing I’d say in defence of Thiago is that having him around the likes of Elliott and Jones is good for their development as you can’t help but pick up things from a world class class player like him.

11.) 20 Jan 2022 22:25:23
@MK Scouser my first job was down in the ‘sandcastle’ building over the road from the Pier Head. It was the late 70’s and I had a boss who was (with hindsight) pretty savvy although at the time he just seemed like a pain. There was one particular thing he said one day about a lad who wasn’t doing his job properly and was blaming everything but himself. The boss said “nobody is unlucky all the time”. Just saying.

12.) 20 Jan 2022 17:13:11
You're correct Ed077, but if you check his record, he has played 30-42 games every season since about 2015. He'll most likely do 30 again this season. With his ability, i'd rather have him for 30 games a year than sell him for a pittance. That's the difference between him and Keita/ Dembele. He does actually put runs of games together, his attitude is impeccable, and he's genuinely world class.

{Ed077's Note - Thiago is a very good player when fit and firing no doubt. But his fitness/availability has always been an issue. A class player when on it for sure MK.

04 Jan 2022 18:07:55
Evening eds

Have Liverpool ever shown any interest in Julian Alvarez of River plate?

{Ed002's Note - No but plenty of other clubs have.}

1.) 05 Jan 2022 07:03:40
How does recruiting players from South America work post brexit Ed? isn't it much easier now, but more difficult for let's say kids from Eastern Europe? I'd love us to start snapping up a few young brazilian players.

{Ed002's Note - The Brexit rule changes do not make it easier for South Americans but the FA rule changes to a points based system may ease it slightly, but is intended to encourage HG players. The points based system applies equally now to EU and non-EU players - that is the big change.}

15 Dec 2021 17:39:55
Hi Eds,

Has there been any recent talks between LFC and Liverpool City Council, with regards to improving or creating new transport links to and from Anfield stadium?

{Ed002's Note - Not that I know of. The club are not looking to get involved in what would be huge additional costs.}

1.) 15 Dec 2021 23:14:40
The planning permission for the Anfield Road stand is available for public viewing and is interesting.
There’s a Transport Working Group between the club and various stakeholders, and both match day and event strategies for travel to and from the stadium.
With the enhanced hospitality facilities in and around the ground, the club would wish to retain people to increase its revenue whilst also assisting with the dispersal rate after the game / event finishes.
Don’t expect any new train lines or such like in the near future however.

2.) 16 Dec 2021 09:49:13
Ed i think i remember you saying if it went above a certain capacity it they would have to contribute to transportation infrastructure? Did they find a loophole and get out of it?

{Ed002's Note - No, Liv erpool have not found a way to cheat.}

01 Aug 2021 17:51:07
Hi Eds,

What would I need to do in order to start up a new football team and get it onto the football ladder?

{Ed002's Note - You would have to start a local team and join the local league.}

1.) 01 Aug 2021 20:11:31
Get a team together along with a chair person, secretary and treasurer then apply to your regional fa. For example mine is north east Wales fa (newfa) . Pay what ever the fees are to enter and complete whatever courses they require. Level 1 coaching, first aid, child welfare (if a junior team) .
That should be it.

2.) 01 Aug 2021 20:51:00
That made me laugh out loud Ed02 😁😁.

One more thing on Diaz is I may Ed002,

Have Liverpool made any type of contact with the players reps or Porto direct, with regards to starting the ball rolling on getting a deal done?

{Ed002's Note - There is not going to be an attempt to sign him immediately.}

So it's just a simple case of paying the set price and of course, the player wanting the move.

Thanks ed002.

Hi Ed002

With Luiz Diaz being owned by Porto and Junior, would it be a difficult deal to get done this window?

{Ed002's Note - It is unrelated to any of the potential buying clubs. The €80M buy out clause covers the additional monies owed by Porto to have 100% ownership.}

Seems like a very good offer. Perhaps they could meet halfway with add ons?
