Is there any truth in Liverpool being set for new investment over the summer, with several offers being on the table?

BergersLeftPeg

1.) 18 Jun 2023 06:00:54
I believe Ed02 said that any new investment was in FSG and not Liverpool.
Which means Liverpool fc may not benefit or see any extra funding for new players. Hope I'm wrong on this.

2.) 18 Jun 2023 14:35:47
Greenflash, you aren't wrong. Ed002 has said that repeatedly.

28 Jan 2022 07:30:03
Good Morning Ed002,

Could the arrival of Luis Diaz mean either Origi or Minamino could leave this window?

Thanks.

BergersLeftPeg

{Ed002's Note - Possibly.}

25 Jan 2022 15:40:12
Hi Ed002

With Tottenham Hotspur reportedly making a bid for Luis Diaz, could you now see Liverpool making a move for the player, this window?

Thanks.

BergersLeftPeg

{Ed002's Note - No, the requirements that need to be met to have the chance of buying him are clear. Outside chance of a proposal from another side still. I suspect if he is still there in the summer then LIverpool might look to do something.}

1.) 25 Jan 2022 16:11:47
Thank you.

2.) 25 Jan 2022 18:30:00
Take him off the list so.

3.) 25 Jan 2022 18:31:57
Quality player but his price is out of budget. Will be a good addition good addition to any side and looks like he is going to Spurs.

4.) 25 Jan 2022 18:50:30
Spurs bid = meltdown on here.

5.) 25 Jan 2022 17:02:54
What value have Porto set for Diaz Ed002, do you know?

{Ed002's Note - His buy out cluase - which is €80M in a single payment. They do not wish to sell so that is what the interested clubs will be referred to - A good offer somewhere near may be of interest and may just be coming.}

6.) 25 Jan 2022 18:57:41
He’s out of our budget? We don’t have a budget we’ve no money! We’ve not sold anyone to purchase or bid for him or anyone 🥴.

7.) 25 Jan 2022 20:05:59
My 12 year old has more budget on his Go Henry card than the Liverpool owners.

{Ed0666's Note - what’s a Go Henry card?

8.) 25 Jan 2022 20:15:33
Surely he wouldn't go spurs!

9.) 25 Jan 2022 20:23:05
Don't believe everything you hear or read. Ed002 has stated €80m is the release clause so why on earth would they sell him this month for considerably less, especially as they don't want to lose him right now?

10.) 25 Jan 2022 20:24:31
confirmed spurs offer and we can scratch that one off the list! they have spent abut 250million more than us in three seasons have no idea where this money is coming from much like arsenal they aren't in champions league and won't be for a while! . and with C.V. who knows why they both have so much money despite buying players like pepe based on getting back in europe which they haven't done.

11.) 25 Jan 2022 20:41:12
Offer might be confirmed but its considerably less than the release clause.

12.) 25 Jan 2022 20:48:03
Ed0666 its like a bank card for under 16s. You can link it to your bank and put money on it and track how its spent. Gives younger teenagers thier first taste of using bank cards etc.

{Ed0666's Note - thanks mate. Well in that case your kids got more cash than FSG

13.) 25 Jan 2022 21:38:43
money well spent in north london I see . . .

14.) 25 Jan 2022 22:15:17
Spurts can't offer consistent CL football so no way.

15.) 25 Jan 2022 23:09:47
Our club is pretty good on the pitch at the mo but our transfer potential is absolutely last. LFC couldn’t afford a blozzer off a Shiel Rd lady of the night currently.

16.) 25 Jan 2022 22:05:33
Thank you Ed002, hopefully he will still be about in summer if we are still interested! let's hope Levy stays tight loo.

17.) 26 Jan 2022 01:12:47
Didn’t we allegedly spend nearly £40m on a relatively untried youngster on the last transfer window? I ask because there is a lot of stuff on here (particularly when there is not much else to complain about) about how Liverpool have no money. I’d live to know where people get their facts from.

Love the posts about the clubs who spend more money than us (in this thread Spurs and £250m 😁) and never win anything - makes you think about wasting money eh? and sort of validates what LFC are actually doing perhaps?

18.) 26 Jan 2022 09:16:34
There were a few articles saying Diaz is going to be Edwards final gift. Is 66m too much? It wasn't with VVD and Ali.

{Ed002's Note - The situation is very different.}

19.) 26 Jan 2022 10:22:55
Can Edwards buy us a player out of his own pocket and gift him to the club?

20.) 26 Jan 2022 14:13:18
If FSG are unwilling to commit funds for JK's last 2.5 seasons, they are insane.
We need a couple of VVD/ Ali level signings to come and take us up a notch.
Diaz is surely one of those players, he looks unbelievable, unplayable at times.
IF we got him now, our chances of winning CL/ EPL go up.
I'd also be interested in the French CB at Seville, after selling Nat and JoGo. He can play RB, in a 3 and looks to be top drawer.

21.) 26 Jan 2022 14:19:51
Surely he won't want to sign for spurs? can't see it imo. Thoughts?

12 Jan 2022 15:50:47
Hi Ed002

Are Liverpool actively trying to sign somebody this window or is the summer more likely?

Thanks.

BergersLeftPeg

{Ed002's Note - The summer is more likely unless a desired target becomes available - then something may happen.}

1.) 12 Jan 2022 16:44:53
City's squad is going to mean they come first most of the time, which is why our fewer and cheaper purchases need to be perfectly selected.
Do the ed's know anything about Ox and his availability? Would he be sold now if a decent offer came in?

2.) 12 Jan 2022 18:12:57
Sign someone with what exactly?
We’ve no f#%#%#% money Ed has told us plenty of times!
We all want new toys but no Mon no fun!

3.) 12 Jan 2022 18:10:37
Dembele wow available isn’t he Ed? And the interest is there as you say.

{Ed002's Note - Ousmane Dembele (LW/RW/F) Klopp's interest does not seem to go away but the attraction will be that he is a Free Agent although his preference is likely to be elsewhere unless Salah or Mane were to leave. He will be a Free Agent in the summer - Barcelona may try again with a new contract or a January sale but his agent is offering him around now - looking for a large signing on package from the usual suspects. Barcelona may spring a surprise in January and look to see if something could be done with potential targets at Juventus or Milan to reduce the price although Juve may look to an agreement to take him as a Free Agent in the summer. They may also look to an exchange with Chelsea for Rudiger but the Chelsea interest is elsewhere rather than Dembele. With Sancho arriving it is hard to see interest from Manchester United although they have been approached. PSG are seeking a French player still but have a preferred option as a Mbappe replacement. A discussion has been held with Newcastle. I suspect he will sign a new contract but the arrival of others may need to be taken in to account first. Injury concerns, inconsistent form and high wages must be considered by any potential buyers.}

4.) 12 Jan 2022 21:00:21
Hhmm ok Ed thank you fir the info again. As ever it seems we have our lot for the season unless Mane Salah and the like leave. Let a gets behind the players we’ve got and see where it takes us.

5.) 12 Jan 2022 21:40:58
Would anyone be that shocked if we actually sell Salah and wrap up free agent dembele? No sarcasm intended its something I can see our money men going for.

6.) 12 Jan 2022 22:29:44
I wouldn’t be shocked if we sold Salah. Personally I don’t think it would be the end of the world, although I do accept that’s not a view held by everybody.

I would be surprised if Dembele was the replacement. He showed potential a couple of years or so back but hasn’t progressed as far as I can see.

7.) 12 Jan 2022 22:43:02
So where do you think our goals would come from? Mane and jota are too inconsistent, although jota probably will score more goals than mane, and we can’t rely on our midfield to score goals. If we sell salah, only a player like mbappe or Harland should be brought in if you ask me…. a younger player who has the ability to score as many goals as salah.

8.) 13 Jan 2022 01:27:06
Mbappe or Haaland would likely want wages far in excess of what Salah wants to renew 😂.

9.) 13 Jan 2022 07:06:25
Fuser, laughably, even comedy footballer Ousmane Dembele wants more than Salah.

10.) 13 Jan 2022 08:10:30
WDW so who would replace salahs goals if its not the end of the world?

11.) 13 Jan 2022 09:07:05
Who replaced Rush's goals?

12.) 13 Jan 2022 09:24:13
Everyone thinks the replacement for Salah will be willing to play for peanuts! To replace Salah with anything NEAR a like for like signing the new player would also be looking for massive wages.

13.) 13 Jan 2022 11:43:58
In all fairness and I’m just playing devils advocate here. All of Mbappe, Vlahovic and Dembele are much younger players.

06 Jan 2022 07:22:43
Good Morning Eds,

Liverpool are being linked with Luis Diaz of FC Porto and I was wondering,

1, If Liverpool have any real interest in him?

2, Would a possible move, depend on moving one of Salah, Mane, Firmino on?

Thanks.

BergersLeftPeg

{Ed002's Note - 1. Yes, I have explained. 2. It is dependent on something else.}

1.) 06 Jan 2022 09:45:30
Hi Ed002, would it be possible for a move to be sorted in January, or is Summer much more likely? I just don't see Liverpool being able to find the funds in this window.

{Ed002's Note - I rather doubt Porto would be open to selling now unless someone forced the situation - which requires an €80M cash payment and the player to agree.}

2.) 06 Jan 2022 09:51:23
Hi Ed - sorry if i am repeating the question or information is below but i couldn't find it.

Is the something else - that Porto own 80% of the player and need to own 100% before they can sell?

{Ed002's Note - Yes but they have been looking to strike a deal with Junior and will do before the summer.}

3.) 06 Jan 2022 09:53:44
You a fan ed2? Highly rated but Portuguese football isn’t a league i keep up with.

{Ed002's Note - There is no doubt he is a talented player and he is scoring goals from LM in a 4-4-2 but the price is very high and it is difficult to see how he will naturally fit in at Liverpool unless utilised as a LW.}

4.) 06 Jan 2022 10:04:46
Thanks Ed for the info. €80M cash payment is all I need to read lol as we don’t have a penny. I will file this one away with the others mate.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool would need to borrow or perhaps sell (like other clubs do) to raise the money.}

5.) 06 Jan 2022 10:31:07
Higher price with a deferred payment again, Ed?

{Ed002's Note - That is not how Iberian buy out clauses work.}

6.) 06 Jan 2022 20:38:13
You may have just opened up another line of questioning there Ed02, once we all figure out what Iberian means 😉.

{Ed002's Note - The direct translation “is those in pointed hats”.}

Have Liverpool ever shown any interest in Boubacar Kamara of Aston villa?

BergersLeftPeg

1.) 16 Jan 2024 13:48:00
Hopefully not mate, we aren't that desperate.

10 Sep 2023 08:04:34
Do you know if there has been any fresh movement on potential investment into FSG?

BergersLeftPeg

11 Aug 2023 19:54:06
Chelsea are tonight said to have agreed a £50 million fee for Romeo Lavia. Would this have any impact on their plans to sign Caicedo too?

BergersLeftPeg

1.) 11 Aug 2023 21:02:55
All I know is Liverpool should not remove their Caicedo bid and wait until Chelsea pay up.

I know it puts us in a tough spot if we lose out on both but Chelsea's offer for Lavia is high in my mind. Hold ground and see what happens.

There are other DMs out there. Fofana, Florentino, Dacoure. Hang tough and see how this plays out.

2.) 11 Aug 2023 21:06:24
If they buy both that is a stunning amount of money that Boehley has spent since arriving, a truly stupendous amount of money.

3.) 11 Aug 2023 21:04:29
No impact at all Berger. They want and will get both players mate sadly. We need to move on. Forget it and hopefully we have enough time left to bring in a few players.

4.) 11 Aug 2023 21:05:02
I believe that Todd Boehly has taken an active role in the Caicedo deal and wants it to be sealed at any cost. I think it has damaged his billionaire ego and he has returned from his exile to show Liverpool what for. I don't think there is any logic to it really. Sounds like a ridiculous thing for me to say but Todd Boehly is a ridiculous character.

5.) 11 Aug 2023 21:12:34
Why would Lavia go to Chelsea, he must know he will behind Caicedo and Fernandez for the DM position.

Unless he knows something we don’t…….

6.) 11 Aug 2023 21:13:04
don't forget the outgoing's though Mcgoveb.

7.) 11 Aug 2023 21:21:23
John Henry has take a point blank rang, full blast shot to the face from Boehly's egg blunderbuss.

8.) 11 Aug 2023 21:51:09
Chelsea are not short of cash, they have had a fire sale this summer and flogged players all over the gaff. I suspect they have enough for both lavia and ciacedo. Lfc have to suck it up and move on I'm afraid.

9.) 11 Aug 2023 21:45:58
Shoots, what does this have to do with John Henry? He can't help it if Caicedo doesn't want to play for us.

10 Aug 2023 13:01:49
Good morning,

Is it true that Liverpool have outbid Chelsea today for Moises Caicedo?

Thanks.

BergersLeftPeg

1.) 10 Aug 2023 13:22:43
He favours Chelsea so he will likely end up there if any where. No point trying to sign a player who has zero I Teresa 8n playing for you.

2.) 10 Aug 2023 13:37:34
I don't think Caicedo is in anyway die hard Chelsea, sounds much more like he is die hard wanting out of Brighton. Certainly not to the point of would flat out turn down Liverpool. Most players are simply employees who will decide on what is available in front of them. Potentially if identical offers are put ro the player he may choose Chelsea but we can cross that bridge if we ever get there.

{Ed002's Note - How can he turn down Liverpool - they have not made any offer for him.}

3.) 10 Aug 2023 13:41:25
Who actually said he favours Chelsea? He say that while Chelsea were the only ones in for him?
Not doubting it but wheres the proof. Same could be said for lavia. he's made it clear he wants liverpool to the club.
Wouldn't be bothered if neither sign.

4.) 10 Aug 2023 14:03:19
Caicedo isn't a £100m player but he is significantly better than some of the alternatives and we know he dovetails well with Mac Allister in midfield so that's another positive. I don't think 1 okay season and 1 good seasons makes him worth that much money but finances are mental right now so if we want to sign a DM then we probably have to accept overpaying.

On who he prefers, i think Caicedo has shown he is a bit of a mercenary and won't care if the money is right. In January, Arsenal were his dream move and by July, Chelsea were his dream move. I'm sure if we double his salary he'll say he used to watch Liverpool when he was a young boy ?

Remains to be seen if this interest is even real and if it is, whether we can pull off a deal. But at least this would actually improve our side immediately and not potentially in 2 or 3 years.

5.) 10 Aug 2023 14:07:17
He seemed to want Arsenal in January more than Chelsea this summer with the post he put out.
I thought it was Madrid that was his endgame according to a post on here the other day.

6.) 10 Aug 2023 15:02:01
I’d imagine every player at Brighton would be happy with a move to Arsenal, Chelsea, Utd, City or us.

7.) 10 Aug 2023 15:21:35
Sure, but there's nothing "mercenary" about being a professional footballer. Being a footballer is a job. You're not getting a girlfriend or a wife where emotional attachment plays the largest part of it. There's a big difference between a contract with terms and conditions and vows that you exchange at the altar.

8.) 10 Aug 2023 15:57:57
Seriously, did anyone even believe this nonsense? If you did after all we currently know on here and in the public domain then, you did that on your own so I ain’t trying to hear anyone blaming FSG, Klopp, Jorge or the tea lady . Just saying.

9.) 10 Aug 2023 17:25:19
ArAy, apologies if i wasn't clear as i didn't mean "mercenary" as an insult. Just a simple fact of life that some people are driven by money and that's okay. I quit a job i loved for a job that paid more and is boring me to death on a daily basis. Like you say, football is his job and i hold no ill feelings towards anyone who simply wants to earn more money.

10.) 10 Aug 2023 18:36:55
No issues at all MK. You're no different than the vast majority of people who would make a similar decision as yours. I just get irritated because of double standards people show all the time. Everyone has a job and probably everyone would jump ship the moment better "conditions" are on offer (whatever those conditions may be; more money included) . And yet our footballers are held to such high and impossible to reach standards as if they owe undying, eternal love and unquestionnable loyalty to the club. It's like "more money" is okay for most people but it isn't allowed for footballers. We're in the year 2023 for God's sakes!

18 Jul 2023 11:21:37
Is it possible that Henderson could buy out the reminder of his Liverpool contract and leave on a free? If Al Ettifaq fail to agree a fee.

BergersLeftPeg

1.) 18 Jul 2023 11:44:27
That’s what some of the media are reporting the Saudi club wanted him to do.

It’s quite strange they’re willing to pay him a kings ransom in wages but not a transfer fee for a current England international and club captain who has 2 years remaining on his contract.

I can see a strong likelihood of them not agreeing a fee and Hendo staying and him being praised as he chose to stay and would never leave his beloved Liverpool.

Kind of like a mothers blind love.

2.) 18 Jul 2023 11:50:02
He would never do that, it would kill his legacy with the club. And he loves the club, 12 years of loyal service proves it. It's okay to look for better financial opportunities, but not at that kind of cost. By the same token, I don't see the club standing in his way. It's just negotiating posture to set a stiff stance and then see the maximum that can be obtained for him. Business is business.

3.) 18 Jul 2023 11:53:52
Can't see him staying JK23 mate . soon everything will be sorted coz even Fab transfer is taking time ?.

4.) 18 Jul 2023 11:56:06
I highly doubt Steven Gerrard will still be manager of Ettifaq in 2 years time. In fact, if the Chinese Super League is anything to go by, there is every chance Ettifaq don't exist in 2 years time.

5.) 18 Jul 2023 11:58:47
As an LGBT+ ambassador he should turn it down automatically. He should have enough money already.

6.) 18 Jul 2023 13:02:48
Thomas, the difference between China and Saudi leagues is that the Saudi league was well established with strong support within well before the recent influx on foreign players on high wages.
China was a fad developed by the president who got bored. Saudia Arabia is intent on building a sporting legacy. They already have the golf, F1 and boxing. They aren't going anywhere.

7.) 18 Jul 2023 14:16:50
This move seems weird. They signal their interest and flash the cash wages in Hendo's face and it seemed they were hoping that he somehow convinces LFC into releasing him for the final two years of his contract so they can get him on a free. And when that doesn't happen and we want what we think Hendo is worth to us, they seem shocked by that?

Now where does that leave Hendo? The Saudis have put him in a strange situation cos he has told the club he wants to leave so if he doesn't and we don't budge, what's the changing room going to look like? Would certain players/ fans not look at him like, "You were going to quit on us so you're only here now this season cos your Saudi bros. didn't think you were worth it, yeah? " or something like that. Like I said, this move is weird as heck.

8.) 18 Jul 2023 15:43:07
Or maybe it’s all completely amicable Oli, and irrelevant of if he stays or goes a good relationship will remain. These guys are professionals, I’m sure options can be explored without it leading to a falling out.

9.) 18 Jul 2023 17:08:49
Footyfan, I fully agree with you and like you, I know players are pros. and a lot of these things roll off their backs and they just get on with it. Same for Hendo who is a true pro who will prepare for the season regardless.

I just can't shake the feeling that these grumblings will be in the DR in some circles or even in the fan base cos we can already see some fans on SM saying if Hendo stays, he should be stripped of the armband which is find ridiculous.

So hopefully, the players and Klopp are big and professional enuff to diffuse such things which I think and Im confident they are.

10.) 18 Jul 2023 17:36:05
A few months ago some posters wouldn’t watch the World Cup because of human rights in the Middle East.

Now Bobby and Hendo agree to move there and it’s like those comments never happened.

Hi Edd002

About your earlier post with regards to possible buyers of LFC, Saudi Arabia's sports ministerial said in an interview this afternoon thart ts government would "definitely support" private sector Saudi bids for Liverpool or Manchester United.

In what way would they support a bid? What with them having purchased Newcastle?

Thanks.

BergersLeftPeg

{Ed002's Note - It means they would not object to Saudi businessmen making a bid - and as I said there are two potential bidders.}
