Ed1 so is Davies seen as a long term prospect? I assume he's more of a Lovren replacement as the youngsters are not going to make the grade (Philips and Williams) and that our CB will be VVD, Gomez, Matip and Davies unless we sign another CB on a purchase instead of loan. If we sign another CB on a purchase do you think they will replace Matip for next season? Also why the sudden splurge we where happy not to sign any CB this winter due to it being difficult and being low on funds?

Kloppofthenortheast

{Ed001's Note - Phillips is out of contract in the summer. The sudden splurge is because of the injury to Matip.}

Got to say it was good to see a real physcial liverpool side last night, i was worried hojlberg would be hatch attacking the players but it appears klopp put Mr Milner and Thiago in there to do the same to him and then some, good game, think the better team lost but 3 points is 3 points Mr Mourninho. Just shows if we can go on a run and the teams around us have a blip like we had then anything can happen!

Got to love Mourinho, his team lost, as they played negative footbal like he always does against a team who completely dominated his team and scored 2 brilliant goals and should have been more. The media today is all about how Klopp behaves not the fact Spurs got toasted by the best team in England - again. One day the media will start telling the real story- mourinho lost as his tactics are old fashioned and terrible how spurs fans can be proud to see Kane playing CB is beyond me - up the Pool!

Hes deluded! A draw is 3 points to him and his ancient football ways!

2.) 17 Dec 2020 10:58:15
They are not proud. You only have to pop over to the Spurs site to see that. Mourinho is just a fool and a sore loser. “The best team lost” what match was he watching? Some of the football, especially in the first half was breathtaking.

3.) 17 Dec 2020 11:57:00
The team with the best clear cut chances lost but the best team certainly won. Masterful deflection though.

4.) 17 Dec 2020 12:00:47
I asked a Spurs fan last night if they would be happy to win a title playing like that and they said yes of course. Problem is they will not win a title playing like that .

The fact is if Berwjin takes his chance and Kane doesn't miss from 4 yards out dead centre of the goal Spurs win last night . Jose is seen as a taticle genius as what he planned worked perfectly and Spurs are top of the league . However they lost, so it looks like Jose's negative approach was a total bust, in reality it was fine margins and you can attack in games all you want but when the other side stops you getting as many goals as they get regardless if you agree with thier style they play, they win. More often than not this season Spurs will win playing like that, they have beaten City already, so it may be dull and not to our taste but it will work and Spurs will be comfortably top 4 . As I said it was defensive and typically Jose, however but for the thickness of a post and an incomprehensible miss from Kane Spurs would have stolen one last night . But they did not and we are top of the league . And I believe we will stay there now .

{Ed001's Note - or we could have scored more and they still lost if you are going on what ifs. We had as many good chances as they did that we failed to score.}

5.) 17 Dec 2020 20:21:14
Kimuraking. th, if we are going to go by shots on target going in, LFC win 9-2 cos Spurs did not even get the “chances” they got on target. You can ask your Spurs buddies to ask their hypocrite, salty, and Klopp-owned manager how his team can score a goal WITHOUT hitting the target. I’ll wait.

6.) 18 Dec 2020 16:34:52
Why the aggression in the reply Red Meister. I merely said if Spurs win then Jose's approach is seen as good tactics. The fact they did not means it is seen as negative. That is all. So watch your tone.

7.) 20 Dec 2020 12:09:01
Kimuraking, take a chill pill, bro. The aggression was channelled to Jose and his hypocritical stance and not to you. Read the post again and next time, don’t be so sensitive to stuff that is not even aimed at you.

Not sure why people are moaning, we have an Extra large Squad this year, to make up for the injuries and an extensive academy that we can rely on.

We have been unlucky with injuries but we have put out a lot of different teams this year and were still joint top with a team who have not lost some of their top players.

There are 26 games left with the majority of our players due back at some point in between this time that will give us a lift.

We will see where we finish but one things for sure, if we don't win the league this year, a lot will be taken from it and lessons learned going to next season where things should start to appear more normal.

Look at the table ALL the big teams are struggling most of which have their best players, says a lot for klopp and his back room staff to keep us competitive.

It could be worse LOOK AT ARSENAL! won the FA Cup and everyone praised Arteta now he has been found to be out of his depth and are looking in relegation form, with most of their best players fit and playing.

i won't be hitting the panic button enjoy the ride and let's see where we go from here, this year is not a normal season so let's enjoy things being different for a change!

It certainly is not a disaster, we're not in a bad position whatsoever.

It is a tad frustrating that we can be so brilliant against Wolves then perform like that yesterday when we basically misplaced every pass with a ounce of difficulty an lost every 50/ 50 ball.

My only concern is the away form, that needs addressing and doesn't get any easier with Palace away next.

At home we're imperious and it wouldn't surprise me at all if we give spurs a beat down. However, we need to be up for the so called lesser teams as well, performances against Villa, Brighton, Fulham suggested they thought they only needed to turn up. Started incredibly slow.

But still nobody has more points than us.

2.) 14 Dec 2020 15:06:22
The away form hasn't been great mate, but looking at it with perspective other than the Villa game, we should have won at brighton if it wasnt for a very soft offside call we would have had 3 points, Fulham we played back into in the 2nd half but the players are tired, its not going to get better yet with the amount of time between games but i think we will click once we get a more established run of team formation like spurs currently have.

3.) 14 Dec 2020 15:28:01
Possibly could have had a win at Goodison too but its more performance wise that's a bit confusing to me.

Very much Jerkyl and Hyde, think we've been largely brilliant at Anfield thus far but away performances been a bit meh.

1 win from 6 aways, aided with a bit of stupidity from Christensen also although we did play decent that day.

Needs to improve if we want to retain this title but we're capable of course.

4.) 14 Dec 2020 15:47:26
Yesterday We looked like a team that’s crawling to January. Let’s not sugarcoat it, Fulham should’ve been 4 up at half time. Hopefully we can beat Spurs at home infront of our 2k fans.

5.) 14 Dec 2020 20:21:45
TUR, possibly beaten Everton? If the VAR had not been out to lunch and had sent Pickford off, Everton get smoked with 10 men. The Brighton game on another day as well, we win. Onbeheerd flip side tho, we could have lost to Coty had KDB not wet the bed on the pen and had we had Adrian vs Fulham, the game is over at half time. In the end, we have the points we deserve.

I do agree that our away form needs to improve esp with our approach. We are not starting games with the same energy and tempo we start games at Anfield. IMO, we are not that team that allows teams to come onto us cos they simply won’t. Have to do better.

6.) 14 Dec 2020 20:29:35
Well put FC8.

7.) 14 Dec 2020 21:17:27
Lots of ifs, buts and maybes Red Meister. I say possibly as on another day the decisions are different, but we never know these days.

Having said that we have 90 mins and I'd rather take ownership of what we can control. We can do much better!

8.) 15 Dec 2020 14:49:55
We have the points we deserve, all things being equal.

Eds with the new C.V. "vaccine" now being rolled out in the UK, what will be the plan for actual athletes / football players, will they be made to take it or is it a case of if they want it they can have it? and how will it affect training etc, i. e will a person whos had the vaccine be allowed to train normally without the need to distance etc and follow the current set of rules?

Kloppofthenortheast

{Ed002's Note - My understanding is the Premier League board (not necessarily with the support of all of the clubs) see any vaccine as a magic potion that will solve all of their problems. The medical advice remains largely wait and see. In terms of your specific questions I don't know the answer. The last discussion that I was aware of related to clubs offering the use of grounds for mass vaccinations when the time is right. The last Premier League meeting discussed the five substitutes situation, the pay per view (which was scrapped) and letting folks in to grounds.}

1.) 04 Dec 2020 20:30:27
When offered the vaccine will you accept it ed2?

{Ed002's Note - It depends on what happens with the others offered it before me in all honesty - and the progress with the Oxford solution. How about you?}

2.) 04 Dec 2020 22:05:10
I don’t want to grow a 2nd head or anything else so it’s a no for me!

3.) 05 Dec 2020 08:28:30
What about if you kick the bucket before you get the chance to grow a second head?

4.) 05 Dec 2020 09:50:05
Il take my chances being a healthy 32 year old!

5.) 05 Dec 2020 10:42:22
I'd have it tomorrow, infact, I'd pay to have it no problem at all. These things don't get made and approved by fools, they know a lot more than the majority of the internet who are suddenly keyboard scientists.

{Ed025's Note - im with you salah, i will be queueing up to get mine..

6.) 05 Dec 2020 01:22:27
I'd like to wait a few months to see if there an I am Legend fallout before taking a vaccine. I'm in New Zealand, so I think I can afford to hold out for a little bit.!

7.) 05 Dec 2020 07:43:16
My views are the same as yours ed2 I think we need to see how it rolls out first. Have a good day.

{Ed002's Note - Enjoy your day.}

8.) 05 Dec 2020 20:54:36
Unfortunately the fact we are the first ones to sign up for it is going to fall either 1 or 2 ways. We are Great Britain and we know what we are doing or worst case we are the guinea pigs.

9.) 05 Dec 2020 21:00:21
A vaccine that works, is sort of like a magic potion.

Ed 2 has confirmed it to be true so it must be true! feel sorry for Brewster if he's making way for it to happen, but hope he proves LFC wrong and goes on to be a success where he ends up.

I personally think we will win the league this season, not by same points total but i think it won't be as close as many predict. I would love to see everton do well, seeing Ancelotti at the helm the man is class and deserves respect, i don't think he's there to collect a cheque like some managers are doing currently. but i think squad depth is the issue right now for everton get that sorted and it could be a merseyside 1 - 2 in the next few seasons with the reds being number 1 - sorry ed 25 lol but good luck to everton for the new season already got off to a good win at spurs.

Kloppofthenortheast

{Ed025's Note - i would take that mate..

It would be an Honour to see Messi playing against Burnley on a wednesday night in the pissing rain and snow in the winter, he won't know what's hit him.

Him and Sean Dyche won't be exchanging numbers afterwards lol.
