Looks like we will soon have Bhatia, Bezos et al. as co-owners of the club. Rumours that a deal is very close for them to purchase 30% of the club at a valuation of $6bn.

Looks very much to me like FSG are amidst a phased exit from the club. Worrying in some senses as they've been really good stewards of the club in my opinion, not perfect by any stretch but we've won absolutely everything under them and did it in a relatively sustainable fashion.

9

10 Aug 2026 11:40:40
Agree, Fornax. FSG have been very good owners. They have grown the club and its stadium/academy and training facilities. All while delivering success on the pitch. It cannot be overestimated how dire a situation we were in before they took charge.

6

10 Aug 2026 11:46:03
This puts to bed the narrative that FSG are skint!

2

10 Aug 2026 11:51:09
When you look at some of the other ownerships that have gone bad and, where we were with Gillette and Hicks, FSG were literally our saviours and have guided this club to the very top of world club football.
There should be no negativity aimed in their direction as we could well have found our club in the same state as Sheffield Wednesday & Leicester City.

Scarily, we were at the same precipice!
My opinion is that they have, and continue to be, nothing short of excellent.
A change in pwnership means uncertainty and a leap into the unknown. I hope, when change happens, it's positive.

They bringing Barcola with them?

Araujo passes his medical. Looks like he going to be fit at least.
Welcome to LFC. Have a great season. YNWA

7

10 Aug 2026 12:02:02
There's a video of the Barcelona pre-season fitness test. The players were doing sprint shuttles, and Araujo absolutely destroyed everyone. He looked quicker and fitter than everyone else, by far.

Barcelona need to clear some space in their wage bill to allow them to sign Rodri, otherwise I highly doubt Araujo would've been their choice of CB to let go.

Hello reds

Barcola contract being drafted as we speak. Personal terms fully agreed and the final stages of the formal transfer agreement is being drawn up. Not fully sealed, but it's extremely close.

Macca wanting out was the bad news I posted about a couple of weeks ago because our main target to replace him is already on the move elsewhere.

Macca is now staying put for this season at least.

Seems the CB/RB I mentioned from Spain was in fact Ronald Araujo.

I'm still not hearing anything solid on Mbaye, but let's see.

Cheers

DjimiT.

10 Aug 2026 11:36:35
Cheers, Djimi.

1

10 Aug 2026 11:37:29
Does Macca still want out? I bet that his replacement was either Camara or Bouaddi. Still like both.

1

10 Aug 2026 11:41:07
I think Palace are signing Camara, Bouadi apparently to City.

1

10 Aug 2026 11:41:32
Cheers, DjimiT.

10 Aug 2026 11:47:23
Thanks for the update, Djimi. Keep them coming.

10 Aug 2026 11:52:17
DjimiT, you are most certainly ITak.

1

10 Aug 2026 12:03:25
I'd imagine Bouaddi. Just about sealed to City though.

'A consortium including Jeff Bezos is part of a deal to buy a one third stake in Liverpool FC.

Sky News says FSG is preparing to make an announcement as soon as this week. The deal means Bezos will be part of an investor group with Eduardo Saverin, a Facebook co-founder.'

I’ll be honest, I’ve never been one to pay much attention to the corporate side of football, it’s none of my concern. However, interested to hear from people who know more than me about how this is likely to affect us? On and off the pitch, money for players, fan experience etc. Or whether we will one day be able to watch all our games on Amazon Prime for Β£8 a month and not have to pay for Sky and TNT (that bit would be marvellous, I do care about that).

4

10 Aug 2026 12:13:45
I believe the Premier League are creating their own stream app to show all games, even 3pm ones. Price was rumoured to be 10 pound a month. Cutting out Sky etc will be great.

Read on BBC Arsenal now in for and have contacted Barcolas people. Can see this happening and I think London and their squad being a bigger pull. I think this window will be like slots first one. Same squad add 2 and hope.

6

10 Aug 2026 08:53:59
I believe if we do not sell two or three, we won't get what we need. I think we need to sell Jones, Chiesa, Elliot to be able to sign Barcola and another player.

0

10 Aug 2026 08:55:23
Barcola to Liverpool is already done, so Arsenal would need to approach Liverpool, not PSG.

17

10 Aug 2026 08:59:50
'BBC Arsenal' what's that? I'm assuming you don't
mean the clickbait site Give Me Sport quoted on the BBC gossip pages, right? Give me strength, more like...

How about we stay calm while the Barcola deal plays out. Plenty of people have said it's almost there, and there's no reason to think otherwise. It's also been widely reported Barcola rejected Arsenal a while ago.

6

10 Aug 2026 09:13:16
We're under no pressure to sell him this summer, JK, as he still has 5 years left on his contract with an option for a 6th. Club already briefing James Pearce to come out saying the Gunners would be wasting their time.

4

10 Aug 2026 09:17:46
Fm tickled me that.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Barcola bought for 120 mill on 11th August, and sold for 100 mill to Arsenal on the 12th of August, and just increase in ticket prices to fill the 20 mill hole.

5

10 Aug 2026 09:18:29
Never have nor will I believe this narrative that we currently have to sell to buy as we have no money basically.

We were among some of the richest clubs for revenue etc for the last few years and have the ability to buy who we want for whatever we value them at, if we value a player at 125 like we did with Isak we paid it, we have currently in the public domain had a bid for 100m for Barcola that doesn't suggest to me we have no money, on top of that we wont be held to ransom by a team as well, it's been public knowledge for a lot of teams that they do not announce big money signings or sellings, it gives opposition teams you are currently working with a chance to know if you have extra money to spend.

The way I look at it, PSG want to get who they want and are doing that at reasonable prices but say we got Barcola for 110M before they agreed a fee for Akliouche then Monaco will see they have 110 extra funds and try to get more money out of them.

We will in my eyes get Barcola and most like another 2/3 players as it is evident we need them and move on the players we need to when we are able to this window.

6

10 Aug 2026 09:28:21
Revenue is a bit different than having actual cash in the bank....

3

10 Aug 2026 09:33:00
Net profit or loss on sales, as well as football revenue, are relevant when deciding how much to spend on wages under the rules. So, while our revenue is high, so is our wage bill. We are constrained on what we do transfer wise.

That's not to say we can't do business, we can, but we'll need to be mindful of profit from the likes of Jones when working out how much we can spend on incomings and wages.

1

10 Aug 2026 09:33:21
Yeah, the BBC Gossip page is not a bastion of truth, it's just a roundup of stories from various sites on the internet - less adverts than NewsNow but not noticeably better quality stories.

Doesn't stop me checking it around 10.30-11 every night, but I don't take it seriously!

5

10 Aug 2026 09:33:59
Yes, but who are we targetting? I feel like either we have no plan at all or it is being kept very under wraps, as highlighted in the Munoz and Araujo deals. Personally, I hope we get keep Chiesa and Elliott, selling Endo and maybe Jones (I think he should stay).

I don't see Macca going anywhere this transfer window, and since we are approaching the latter stages of the transfer window, this might be a more difficult task.

1

10 Aug 2026 09:49:19
There was a story early on in the transfer window, that Barcola had no interest in Arsenal. Having played them in the Champions League last year, he was less than impressed with ArtetaBall, and didn't feel their footballing philosophies aligned. In which case, if the allure of their money outways his own morals, then as with diamonds.. bullet dodged...

YNWA.

0

10 Aug 2026 09:49:33
It's been reported quite a bit that after talks with Arteta and playing against them, Barcola doesn't like their style of play and doesn't want to play in that team.

0

10 Aug 2026 10:03:38
Not much info out there on who, if anyone, other than Barcola is a target. It's also not clear whether there's a genuine stand-off over the fee for Barcola, or whether the delay is due to other reasons.

It's been said numerous times on here the delay is due to PSG, rather than the fee per se, but in the general media the view seems to be there's a gap on fee which needs to be closed for things to progress.

The general consensus on business beyond Barcola, if he comes in at all, is that business with any notable fee will need to be funded through sales. It's frustrating as we still have gaps, but the sales are as slow this summer as they ever have been.

0

10 Aug 2026 10:04:08
The BBC rumours are just a roundup of all the crap in the papers. Means nothing.

Let's just hope we get this tied up sooner than later.

3

10 Aug 2026 10:29:48
Don't panic everyone, Dick Hughes is at the wheel.

0

10 Aug 2026 10:39:05
We have a history of keeping our powder dry until the job in hand is done. It's the best way to do things, imo, if frustrating.
One thing is clear, and that is we are short in some key positions as a squad.

I have no doubt that this will be addressed. Very promising first half performance. Also that Jones was not in the squad. Illness or not, I think it's a good sign that he might be off to Milan.

0

10 Aug 2026 10:45:51
The payments for incoming transfers will be spread over a number of years, so I do not think signing him will plunge us into financial ruin.

1

10 Aug 2026 10:49:15
Surely we need to sell to free up space in the squad if we want to bring more players in? Irrelevant of funds.

1

10 Aug 2026 11:20:26
We need the truther to clarify this. πŸ˜‚

1

10 Aug 2026 08:56:36
Robbo and VG have confirmed it is a done deal and Ed001 on his podcast said he believes it is just a case of waiting for BB to return from his holiday to complete his medical.
Hopefully we will get some good news soon. We are seeing the consequence of poor squad management ie Hughes and Edwards

0

10 Aug 2026 05:51:54
Hi diddly Ho,

Finally a scoop on a Liverpool-related transfer:

Curtis Jones will leave, the club are still in negotiations with Inter and suspect the deal will be agreed soon - personal terms not an issue.

Apparently Liverpool themselves have approached other clubs to stoke up interest (I guess to get a higher fee), though Jones favours a move to Italy.

Diddly out.

10 Aug 2026 07:31:54
Thanks, Ned, seems best for everyone. In recent videos he looks to have checked out.

8

10 Aug 2026 07:32:29
Cheers, Ned. πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

1

10 Aug 2026 07:38:54
Nice one Ned, best move all round I feel.

4

10 Aug 2026 07:38:58
Cheers, Nedders, it did seem only a matter of time.
Best for all concerned, and if what I read on here is true, he's keeping his Mrs sweet, right?

1

10 Aug 2026 07:50:22
We already lack squad depth and we decide to sell a homegrown player...
At least he played well in some positions last year.
Another stupid decision by the team.

2

10 Aug 2026 07:56:51
Thanks, Ned. To be fair, it's not really a surprise as Jones has been playing like he's already left.

4

10 Aug 2026 08:04:57
The fact that we're not exactly fighting off teams with a s***ty stick says as much about Jones as anything. Other Premier League sides have seen first-hand that he's non-existent out of possession and a liability defensively. I don't think he'd be replaced as Nyoni would take his minutes.

7

10 Aug 2026 08:08:08
A Scouser in the team is 'nice to have', but not 'need to have'.

8

10 Aug 2026 08:08:49
So you think he should stay, Kit? I would rather he goes and Nyonyi gets his minutes... at least he looks like he cares. Jones has been given chance after chance, and despite such potential, he just isn't good enough imo.

11

10 Aug 2026 08:18:00
Agreed 2 Shoes... good player Jones is, but he has never kicked on and it seems like he has achieved all he can with us. Nyoni looks ready and gives us something different in midfield.

4

10 Aug 2026 08:26:38
Guaranteed, if he goes to Inter, he will become an absolute star out there in Italy. I am almost certainly in the vast minority here, but I think the lad is pure class and will light up Serie A.
Good luck to him, I hope he proves everyone wrong.

4

10 Aug 2026 08:30:12
Shame, but probably best for all parties. He never really lived up to his potential and seems to be adopting a play style better suited to other, lower paced leagues. Best of luck to him.

1

10 Aug 2026 08:40:44
As regards for having Scousers in the team.. I'd sooner have Moxy from Auf Wiedersehen Pet in our squad rather than Curtis....

4

10 Aug 2026 08:55:09
CJ, thanks for your service and good luck. One yr in contract, stagnant, some money in the bank.

0

10 Aug 2026 08:55:33
Robbyroll, at least Moxy would light a fire under the squad.

3

10 Aug 2026 09:36:24
From the outside looking in, it looks like Curtis, as the only Scouser in the team, has got a bit too big for his boots.

It's one thing if an established player starts having a pop at people because he wants them to know what the club means to the fans, but when a bit part player starts shouting at other players in public and is actively criticising other players and the management on social media, then he has to be moved on.

It's a shame because he looked to have so much promise but that's football. I think he'll do well in Italy and good luck to him.

2

10 Aug 2026 09:41:56
Jones has done as much as he's ever going to do with the club. I've no regrets seeing him moving on, as I wasn't amongst his biggest fans, but I wish him the best of luck with Inter. Over to you now, Nynoi. Let's see if you can really do it. I hope so.

2

10 Aug 2026 10:31:56
Best news since Slot left.

1

10 Aug 2026 11:11:54
Thank you, Ned, nice to see you around, mate.

Adding my tuppence to all other posts that Jones does need to go, and I have higher hopes for Nyoni than him. Nice to replace an academy player with another one, albeit one that has spent time in other academies!

1

10 Aug 2026 11:51:17
If we didn't sell him this window, we wouldn't have got anything, as he would have just signed a pre-contract with Inter in January. He's not gonna make it with us, so it's now or never in selling him, and, gladly, we are taking it.

No doubt we are trying to include bonuses to the fee.

Money in the bank for another player, so happy as I never rated him.

0

10 Aug 2026 12:01:48
Great info, Ned, thanks.

09 Aug 2026 18:50:22
There is no Barcola deal or bid, the truth is we're skint and we have to sell to buy

As it stands jones looks set to leave but that will just about cover the araujo loan. Inter waiting until deadline day as they won't pay over 20 million euros with Liverpool wanting more.

Koumas is a possibility for the right wing the likes of chiesa and gakpo will be staying, there was a possibility of gakpo leaving if his 90million valuation was matched then Barcola could have been a possibility as it stands right now no chance.

Macalister is staying as is Elliot right now as no teams have shown any interest except for a loan

Expect us to make only one more signing, a loan probably for the wing position or a munoz type wing signing there will be no big money moves this summer as we don't have the money.

I wish Ed 02 was here to verify this as he was always up to date on Liverpools financial situation which has been poor for a long time we massively overspent last season thinking salah would go on much longer konate would sign a new deal and our midfield was solid

This is the truth wether you like it or not anyone else saying we're buying Barcola or any other marquee signing is simply a bluffer or misinformed

Thanks

23

09 Aug 2026 19:19:18
Wow. It must be true, as your name is The Truther.

64

09 Aug 2026 19:19:22
I'm of the opinion that Barcola doesn't come. I feel if it was done as people have been saying, we would have had a confirmation now that PSG have signed a winger.

I also think we didn't spend correctly last year and I also know that our owners do not put in their own money so, I don't see us doing the business we should be doing.

Here's to hoping though.

10

09 Aug 2026 19:19:23
Inter won't pay more than EUR20mill... Weird that, already offered more!

45

09 Aug 2026 19:22:08
It was confirmed by PSG that our bid was Β£100m for Barcola.

Kind of throws the whole premise of your post out of the window, don't you think?

45

09 Aug 2026 19:22:57
Anyone who has to call themself The Truther says it all. We have plenty of money to spend if the right players come along at the right price, and we only sell when our valuations are met.

If you sell undervalue, then you are seen as weak negotiators and other teams try and take advantage.

I'm sorry, but what you have said is simply not the real truth.

27

09 Aug 2026 19:23:02
I fully believe Harry is back and his usual self.

Interesting discussing the financials when the new SCR rules come into play this season, where a team can spend 85% of their revenue, and ours is sitting at roughly 432 million as of the latest financial figures for the new rules coming, which is above United, who sit at 405m, yet somehow we need to sell to buy.

I choose to listen to Robbo, Fields, VD, Carra & Ned, along with the belief that, with the squad mainly being back now, and AI having a good chance to see what he needs, and playing catch up on Edwards throwing his hissy fit, we will see more moves this week and next, with most of our sales happening after the league starts.

14

09 Aug 2026 19:23:41
The Truther! What a name!!. 🀣🀣🀣

12

09 Aug 2026 19:26:35
Sorry mate, but there's been too much natter for the Barcola deal to be nonsense, and I tend to trust Robbo and Thefields. Bids have gone in for sure.

13

09 Aug 2026 19:28:58
Ha ha. Pure rage bait post. "This is the truth whether you like it or not" is a bit of a give away. Worded to get a rise out of people, but it's clearly not filling anyone here, judging from comments.

20

09 Aug 2026 19:29:01
The Truther speaks the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I can't handle the truth!

12

09 Aug 2026 19:40:31
What a crock!! Haha

27

09 Aug 2026 19:44:29
The Truther hurts.

5

09 Aug 2026 19:47:19
Ummm, excuse me, The Truther, I just wanted to ask, how come Araujo has already been signed and there is no sign of Jones leaving.

Also, thanks for letting the cat out of the bag that we have no money.

Did you not get the memo?

As we have already bid Β£100m, and eventually sign Barcola when the cheque bounces, he would already have been registered with us and signed a contract...... Shhhh don't tell them.

9

09 Aug 2026 19:47:26
You wait all day for a post & you get this. 🀣

24

09 Aug 2026 19:48:10
I appreciate that Hughes is trying to negotiate..., but we're talking about Β£15m at most. Wasted time.
However, I equally sympathise that it is very hard for him to pull out this late in the deal, or give in too easily.

It's a catch-22.

1

09 Aug 2026 19:54:30
You beat me to it, Ron.

3

09 Aug 2026 19:38:37
Guys, why take the bait? The OP is obviously a troll

7

09 Aug 2026 20:00:32
I appreciate the post, but until Carra, Thefields, Akira, VG, Ned, Square Tomato, or Macca posts otherwise, I believe Barcola will be coming.

6

09 Aug 2026 20:01:42
Escapee from a Jack Nicholson fishing trip right there. Truther, you seem to be overlooking the Β£260m we brought in last summer in sales and the mere Β£12m spent on Chiesa the season before.
Remind me never to hire you as my accountant. πŸ€ͺ

7

09 Aug 2026 20:08:01
Well, Harry or whoever got the attention they wanted! Ironic as I am adding to the post count.

What a load of b*******!

15

09 Aug 2026 20:06:16
The Truther a.k.a a very disgruntled and pissed off Michael Edwards?

Trying to cause issues and telling untruths eh?

Obviously this was meant for the banter page.

1

09 Aug 2026 21:15:06
As much as I'm sceptical of the Araujo signing, it's a lone on less wages than we would have had to pay Konate, so I don't get how that would have killed our plans. The actual financial side of his signing is the part I don't mind.

0

09 Aug 2026 21:15:16
I'm pleased for you, LeBoeuf. lol.

2

09 Aug 2026 21:07:46
Oh dear I think the bulls**ter sorry I mean Truther as forgot to take his Meds bless

09 Aug 2026 21:28:11
Sorry, Sir, but Barcola to Liverpool is 100% on. It just isn't done......yet!

Reckon he's been on the Moroccan Woodbines. Either that or he's @ the Bostik!

09 Aug 2026 21:52:11
Classic Only Fools & Horses quote, RD!

Chapeau, Sir!

4

09 Aug 2026 22:06:48
Araujo looks like a stop gap for Ndukwe, due to the club's poor planning? Maybe if he does well, he can step in for VVD, you looks sad, passively tackling with his ass. VVD was poor last season, I see no reason why that's going to improve.

3

09 Aug 2026 22:16:08
I woke up this morning, checked everywhere to see if Barcola is signed. When I saw nothing, I wanted to vent out my frustration on this platform, but I saw some comments & held myself back because I imagined how ridiculous I would sound. How am I gonna eat my words back if Barcola is confirmed next week?

2

09 Aug 2026 22:16:56
We should let Inter have Curtis for 20 million on the condition they pay another 500k in add-ons for every time he holds onto the ball and dribbles round in circles for longer than 2 minutes. Little do they know they'll have paid the full 40 by October.

3

09 Aug 2026 22:25:28
Guys, way too many comments here for people to scroll down till the next thread.

Don't give these trolls attention. He's clearly trying to get a reaction and attention. The post makes zero sense, and you all should know better.

8

09 Aug 2026 22:33:08
" I wish Ed 02 was here to verify this as he was always up to date on Liverpools financial situation"

I really don't like this. It leaves a real sour taste in my mouth.

RIP ED002.

10

09 Aug 2026 22:44:06
If Liverpool fc are skint, who is paying the player's wages?

You can call FSG many things, but skint is not one of them.

The late great Ed02 also said fans did not understand fiances, and after reading that post i can understand why.

The elephant in the room as regards to this theory is that LFC are in this season's champions league, not to mention the wages they have removed from the books.

Are you seriously trying to suggest that no top tier journalist knows we are skint, or does know and is keeping that to themselves?

Another post that makes me glad i am not on X, not even Indy would post such rubbish even on april fool's day!

I thought I might go down like that. When I post again in 4 weeks time saying I told you so, I expect you to all eat humble pie.

I love this stuff!!! Just fantastic craic!!! H'on the Truther!!! Best name since Jim Araujo!!!!. 🀣🀣🀣

10 Aug 2026 03:14:07
A big signing will be made so can't be that skint, Mr Truther. Hope it's tomorrow just for the extra laugh.

1

10 Aug 2026 04:22:54
We are not skint, but we do need to sell to buy to create space in the squad. By my count, we would have filled up our non-HG quota if both Araujo and Barcola arrive. I'd look to move on our non-HG midfielders next, players like Endo and Macca, and bring in a midfielder, preferably a proper number 6 who can break up attacks.

That's the next priority for us imo.

1

10 Aug 2026 06:33:04
This is the same as the fake bid that we made for Caicedo that was accepted but we didn't have the money, absolute crap.

What next, we are using Klarna?

2

10 Aug 2026 07:04:41
You reminded me of that guy who insisted Slot was going to stay and backed by the execs.

2

10 Aug 2026 10:41:04
Truther has doubled down there and gone for the humble pie convincer threat... Order me a large portion with whipped cream, please, Truther, you absolute chancer. πŸ˜‚

Post again in 4 weeks to feed us humble pie? He will sign in the next 10 days, I promise you that.

Ed001 or Robbo, Victor, Macca etc ar Ed you aware of any potential talks with Endrick.
Reported this morning that we have spoken with his agent over a possible move?
He had a great 6 months at Lyon due to playing regularly, I would be pretty excited by this signing if we pulled it off.

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - no and I would hope not as he is not a player I would want us to sign. He is an idiot and a very average player from what I have seen.}

51

09 Aug 2026 07:28:37
He deliberately crocked Konate in late 2024 so he can eff the eff off.

27

09 Aug 2026 07:50:23
Class player. Looked really good for Lyon last year and is a profile we are missing. Wouldn't mind him, but also would only take him if he was set on leaving Madrid. Don't want a player who twerks for Madrid in a couple years time. We have had enough of those!

13

09 Aug 2026 07:52:03
I'd take him on loan for a year as an alternative to Mbaye. But, then again, Leboeuf's point is very valid.

6

09 Aug 2026 08:35:10
Now that he's happily married 😏, maybe he'll settle and start showing his true potential. Genuinely though, I would like him if the fee wasn't insane. I think the Madrid move was far too early for him. I really think he will come good.

6

09 Aug 2026 08:37:12
The no-dickhead rule abides. It's why I want Mac out (and he's been largely rubbish since March 2025).

27

09 Aug 2026 08:45:32
But I wouldn't go as far as to say he's been a boofhead. He had a bad season but so did most. I think we should give him another year and re-evaluate.

3

09 Aug 2026 08:46:28
He clearly has talent and he tries really hard on the pitch. However, I still just think there is something off about him. Another Madridista I'd rather just have nothing to do with.

Valverde was the only one I ever liked and someone said on here the other day that he went full 'John Terry' and was shagging team mates wives. So not sure I like him anymore either!

12

09 Aug 2026 09:23:16
Anyone remember the good old days when scouts were charged with identifying players based on what they did on the pitch? Now, anybody who can read seems to produce psych profiles based upon scurrilous gossip on the interweb.

The crap surrounding the game is destroying the game.

11

09 Aug 2026 09:27:02
ED001 nailed it in his answer to the OP

3

09 Aug 2026 09:45:34
Seen him getting linked to Man U earlier too. Probably be linked to all the big English sides. That time of year.

1

09 Aug 2026 09:49:30
Endrick is managed by Roc Nation. That should be enough to end any conversation about him.

35

09 Aug 2026 09:44:17
Ed001 he speak the truth πŸ‘

6

09 Aug 2026 10:45:05
I'll try to find the clip if that pumped-up p**** is coming up as a sub for Real in the last minutes against us, and, with his second red-card tackle on Konate, nobbling Ibou and only getting a yellow.

I hope fans don't forget moments like that. It ruined Konate's last run of good form and put him out over Christmas and New Year.

09 Aug 2026 12:26:53
Isn't he on his way to Roma on loan? Apparently he'd prefer that, as opposed to a permanent move.

0

09 Aug 2026 12:37:48
Malick Forfana might come up after coming back from injury.

0

09 Aug 2026 13:03:35
@west derby wanderer, whatever you do, don't let Florian Musiala do a psych profile on the player. He believes only poor people can have mental health problems

Any update on Barcola?

Endrick is a talented player who would prefer to stay at Madrid, though he is frustrated at how little Madrid seem interested in his career at the moment.

He is open to any loan moves and could possibly be persuaded if a promise of game time in his favoured position (either central striker or just behind a central striker ) is offered.

Madrid would be open to selling (and have been for a while) for around Β£80m or so (they were asking Β£110m not too long ago but are starting to get more realistic )

He's young, raw, can sometimes be a little rash but there is a lot of raw talent to shape and mould. He's also hard working on the pitch and does his shift of pressing and tracking back.

People keep pointing out his incident with konate but that's unusual behaviour for him and not the norm, so I personally wouldn't see that as a problem.

The biggest issue with Brazilian players, particularly strikers (defenders never seem to have this issue) is they're easily distracted by women and parties and almost all of them are desperate to take a month off in February to return to Brazil for carnival. This is a cultural thing since all Brazilians do it. The country basically shuts down for a week to get drunk, dance and have sex.

Why we would be interested I don't know because he is not a winger. He's not even a salah style goal scoring wing forward. He's a creative goal scoring centre forward. He doesn't even want to play as a winger either.

I think this is probably old news being recycled since we did enquire about him prior to signing isak and ekitike, at the time Madrid didn't want to sell and we weren't interested in a loan.

09 Aug 2026 16:41:38
I must say that I like the sound of that shut down Nevada.

February, you say... Mmmmm. πŸ€”

Flights and hotel booked.
See you there.

1

09 Aug 2026 17:14:45
Sounds like the Brazilians have got it right and we have got it wrong.

3

09 Aug 2026 17:29:58
Nevada, reminds me of Edmundo who famously activated the "carnival clause" in his contract and buggered off when his club desperately needed him. He was a bit of a character, that lad.

1

09 Aug 2026 18:21:05
Was some player Victor. That Fiorentina team with him, Battistuta and Rui Costa, were a joy to watch.

0

09 Aug 2026 18:30:47
@Gaga, It's definitely an experience that's for sure.

1

09 Aug 2026 18:28:26
Neymar also disappeared during carnival @viktor. It's very common for Brazilians. Some clubs allow it some don't. Milan allowed Dinho, R9 and cafu to go, cafu actually stopped going in his mid 20s but you be surprised just how much more effort you get from Brazilians when you allow it.

So, what I'm getting from this thread, is the next Jolly Boy's outing is in February?

Thanks everyone for the comments on the post. Will continue to post on here when anything is worth passing on. Everyone will be happy to know that changes are happening behind the scenes with recruitment and medical sides being especially looked at.

Mike Gordon having to resume day to day running of the club was not in the plans, but Edwards downing tools forced his hand, and we will be better for it long term.

08 Aug 2026 20:39:44
This is what you want to hear! Is all of this more important than signings... I think so. As long as a few come in, I think we are taking the right direction. πŸ’ͺ

Cheers mate. Grateful for the updates. Any updates are welcome and so are you.
You will have to deal with the toxic smart a*ses unfortunately

What a waste of space Edwards has been. I had such high hopes for him when he came back. Thanks for the update.

I take the view that Andoni's tactical analyst, Tom Webber, is in fact his Chief Scout. He must watch reels and reels of players, something that Andoni does not have the time to do, so he relies on Tom Webber's football acumen.

08 Aug 2026 22:45:02
We're certainly a bit of a mess behind the scenes. The disgrace in not sacking Slot in that substandard period last season showed that.

It's equally as important we fix that, along with the couple of holes in the playing squad.

I'm actually really happy with the CB signing. It's made us stronger.

15

09 Aug 2026 01:06:04
Iraola has apparently been directly involved in the Munoz and Araujo deals. It does go against everything we heard about him preferring to just coach, but good to see him roll his sleeves up and help us out.

The tighter finances thing seems to be playing out as well, which makes you wonder how we were in for Diomande and Barcola.

Maybe we're waiting on a sale to push Barcola through.

Palace bid for Camara may mean Wharton becomes available if we sell Macca.

2

09 Aug 2026 02:13:02
Do we need Wharton if we have Grav? For me, they're similar players in that DM role, while Macca is more attacking, so unless we gonna play a 4-2-2-2, why we need him? I think a Bouaddi (not happening), Camara is better. Even so, I think Macca should get another year.

4

09 Aug 2026 02:33:00
Wharton seemed to be preferred choice, I'm not a huge fan personally. Maybe that'll change now as well if Hughes is out of the picture.

3

09 Aug 2026 08:09:12
We had a glaring lack of speed last season, probably the slowest Liverpool team I've ever seen in my life.
The 2 signings we've got are very quick, and Barcola is very quick.

Going off that, I don't see us buying Wharton.

3

09 Aug 2026 08:45:37
Buying so much speed up top is exactly why you might choose to buy Adam Wharton. He can turn defence into attack with his first touch.

7

09 Aug 2026 08:52:07
Yes, but we got Grav to do that. Why do we need Wharton to do the same thing? I think we need a like for like replacement for Macca (or what he was the season before).

2

09 Aug 2026 09:35:35
Wharton and Grav are nothing alike. Grav is a carrier through the lines and a shield, Wharton is a playmaker who gets us up the field quickly and can spray the ball into the channels.

8

09 Aug 2026 09:55:05
Grav gets the ball forward by running with it. He's great at that, but it leaves him out of position if we lose the ball and his passing is not great. Wharton gets the ball forward with quick, elite forward passing, meaning he could stay in position if he played as a deep lying playmaker.

Unfortunately, he lacks the mobility that Grav has to cover ground. If we play Dom in the midfield 2, then both Dom and whomever plays alongside him will have to be very positionally disciplined.

5

09 Aug 2026 20:01:10
I admit I don't watch Palace, but Wharton doesn't seem as good as people seem to think. Or nowhere near as good as his price tag.
We need energy in that midfield. Sadiki is a player that comes to mind, but I'm flexible.

Just someone who can run for the whole 90 minutes (or at least 75); we lack the energy in these preseason matches... or maybe that's just a lack of sharpness.

But he would be better than nothing.

0

10 Aug 2026 04:26:11
Sadiki would make more sense than a Wharton type, as we can't buy and accommodate both.
Iraola has made clear we have squad depth issues, and fitness issues. Arne also alluded to stuff before he left about the squad.

If we have an indifferent start to the season it'll be interesting to see where the fans go with it. Most pointed to coaching deficiencies last season, with Iraola the cure for virtually everything.

Increasingly squad issues are being talked about now across the media and forums.

It's a shame how pre season has played out, as fitness and availability have meant we can't assess where we are defensively or in midfield.

We're lucky Newcastle are in free fall, as we should beat their depleted outfit even with a half fit, half prepared team, and the run of games after that is fairly easy.
