Moreno's wife just had baby boy last night: Alberto Junior

Congratulations to Alberto and his family and the way dad is playing this season Alberto Junior will be a proud lad.

Tommy Gunn

Second that credit where its due I am really happy to see a player want to stay and fight forhis club career npt about money or contracts just about wanting to do his bestdinner for liverpool #respect alberto.

2.) 18 Nov 2017 23:39:30
he won me over weeks ago, good to have a quick, intelligent, left footed left back and another to boot. Congrats all round moreno.

3.) 19 Nov 2017 00:37:57
Well said. Moreno has not let the abuse or distractions get to him and he fully merits his place in the team. Congratulations to him for becoming a father, and the boy did not even let that get in the way of being a true professional. Great lad!

4.) 19 Nov 2017 04:20:56
Moreno's form doesn't really come into any discussion about him having a child, are we only going to start congratulating players who are playing well now? 😂

Nah i've been his biggest critic but whether he is playing amazingly or woefully he is still a member of Liverpool Football Club, it is only a game. Important to remember that no matter what happens on the pitch all of our players are still human beings.

Congratulations Alberto Snr.

As an American Anglophile what's your take on gun control in the US? Would be interested in your views.

Tommy Gunn

{Ed002's Note - There needs to be far stricter control than there is. Unless there is a need to own a gun they should be kept at shooting clubs or not allowed at all. Pretty much anyone can go and buy any type of guns in pretty much every state without hinder. It is an absolute nonsense and rules similar to the UK should be introduced.}

1.) 06 Nov 2017 14:54:51
I think you're spot on Ed.

2.) 06 Nov 2017 15:18:31
Problem is, you try taking guns off people that already have guns. Doesn't get you far.

{Ed002's Note - Other countries have managed it perfectly well.}

3.) 06 Nov 2017 15:21:36
Ed002 for President.

4.) 06 Nov 2017 15:25:05
Thanks Ed002.

I suppose the problem for the US now is that there are so many guns out there and gun control now won’t solve that unless everyone agrees to hand in their weapons and I really don’t see that happening.

It’s a terrible situation for everyone concerned.

{Ed002's Note - Idiots like the NRA have a great deal of support.}

5.) 06 Nov 2017 15:27:44
Australia have a good system as well.

{Ed002's Note - Yes indeed.}

6.) 06 Nov 2017 15:49:00
My daughter and her fiancée have arranged their upcoming wedding next summer in Las Vegas. at the Mandalay Bay!

I am sure security will be tight but I expect guests who were looking forward to the occasion may now be a little anxious.

{Ed002's Note - They have nothing to worry about Tommy. Numerically the chances of your daughter's wedding party being attacked near zero.}

7.) 06 Nov 2017 15:58:42
I think it’s the mindset of a lot of american people, hence the conflict. Unless you live in an area where being eaten by an animal is a legit worry or you’re in ISIS central I cannot fathom any understanding as to why a ‘normal’ person would want a gun.

8.) 06 Nov 2017 16:53:11
I live in the most heavily armed state in the country (Kentucky), and we have one of the lowest crime rates, especially in areas of burglary and assault (keep in mind Ky is one of the poorest states in the country too. ) More than 3/ 4 of citizens own firearms in Ky. It's easy to make guns the enemy, and I agree with ed002 that there needs to be more restrictions on who can and can not get them. However, it is also important to recognize that each area, be it a city or town, has different needs. The small town I am from, it is not uncommon to see people carrying pistols on their hip.

I also think its difficult to restrict big crime cities (Chicago, New York, Seattle, etc) from getting guns. The only guns that would be confiscated are those owned by law abiding citizens. Criminals have illegal guns, and would never turn them in in good faith.

There really is no perfect solution. As far as the NRA is concerned; money talks, and they're a big part of the problem. However, don't take my guns away, I've done nothing wrong.

9.) 06 Nov 2017 21:01:00
As fascinating as the gun chat is, could we take it to other pages please. People need room on this page to rant on about Migs, have a moan at Hendo and rubbish our defence, don’t ya know!

10.) 06 Nov 2017 22:28:53
TjRed, I lived in Cincinnati for 14 years so I know Kentucky very well. Making guns the enemy is not the issue as majority of gun-owners actually support common-sense gun legislation and restrictions. The problem as you say, is the NRA who have most politicians (most conservatives and some red state-democrats) in their pockets and that is where the prob is. It may be difficult to do restrictions in big cities BUT New York has succeeded in doing that over the past decades and crime is actually extremely low there as well as Seattle and other progressive states. Chicago is difficult as they do have gun restrictions (some of the strictest) BUT the illegal guns on the streets come from Indiana, where there is no restrictions at all.

Also, the NRA has hijacked the whole conversation as the 2nd amendment via the Heller case has has been ruled as not being absolute and that people are not a regulated militia hence, gun restrictions can be placed on a federal level and state levels.

But they act as if it is absolute and the extremists buy into it and then by so many guns hence, gun sales go up and they make money an some say, on the backs of victims of mass shootings as they want NO gun regulations at all.

11.) 07 Nov 2017 03:59:58
That’s interesting Loris. I am inclined to agree with you on pretty much everything you said. I’m sure the eds want this conversation gone, so let’s leave it at that 😎.

06 Nov 2017 08:03:30
Would it be worth having a look at getting David Luiz as a CB in January if he is not wanted by Conte at Chelsea?

When they won the league last season he seemed to be a big player for them.

He could also play as a defensive midfielder.

Might be an astute and possible January signing?

Tommy Gunn

1.) 06 Nov 2017 08:44:03
Not in a million years, Tommy. He is to me, poison to a manager. He is as unreliable and undependable as they come. There is a reason he got booted out of Chelsea by Mou then by PSG as he is lazy, a show pony and a liability on the pitch even tho, he is supremely talented. Sorry, I would rather take Klavan as at least we know what you will get from him esp. when we defend deep in certain situations.

2.) 06 Nov 2017 08:59:02
I would love to get him but sadly I think he wouldn't be particularly interested in joining us.

If you had the option of VDV at 70m or Luiz for what I would assume would be in the 30-40m who would you go for?

Luiz any day of the week for me.

Red Sandman.

3.) 06 Nov 2017 09:23:14
I'm with you Loris on this one mate your right, I wouldn't want him at Liverpool even if he was free.

4.) 06 Nov 2017 09:32:29
Luiz would not be an improvement on the defenders we have. Makes too many mistakes.

5.) 06 Nov 2017 09:39:02
I'd go for. VdV if those are the options.
He's the better defender out of the two and we need someone who can defend.

6.) 06 Nov 2017 09:48:01
Loris, Luiz is not show pony. When chips are down he is the one rallying the troops, you will never see Hendo doing that. There were times he single handedly haul Chelsea back into game. He can play DM, CB . Luiz influence beyond jus my defence, he doggedness and energy makes him very difficult to play against, you got to watch him when Chelsea go behind, he is like the war cry rallying the troops. We need someone like him.

7.) 06 Nov 2017 10:25:07
Yeah Sure Relaxla has nothing to do with the fact it was Kante who single handed protected those CBS not to mention they played a variation of a back 5 with Alonso and Moses as Wingbacks, he had the cover to mess up which he did plenty of times last year.

8.) 06 Nov 2017 11:22:20
Chelsea's entire defense looks a shambles without Kante manning the midfield. Its no coincidence that they kept a clean sheet the moment Kante returned. Luiz along with Cahill is part of Chelsea' defensive frailties. Hardly an inspiring signing for our defense which needs discipline and has no Kante protecting it.

9.) 06 Nov 2017 12:58:51
Hahaha. I'd rather spend 50 million on rolls of toilet paper.

10.) 06 Nov 2017 13:00:40
Didn't he fall a part against Germany in the world cup? He needs a leader long side him to get him through games.

11.) 06 Nov 2017 13:55:28
Ask Luis Suarez!

12.) 06 Nov 2017 19:45:51
Relaxia, The David Luiz you described exists only in an alternate reality as he does not exist in the real world. Kante and Matic makes any defence look good and the minute they were absent, they and Luiz in particular, were shown to be pants. There is a reason Conte is fed up with him. He is poor, lazy, unreliable and undependable. That is the reality, IMO.

13 Sep 2017 22:05:57
Not the result we wanted but not the end of the world.

We will be fine and we will get through the group,

Defense has to be improved and I am sure it will be. We all know we are looking to bring in VVD.

Would not surprise me if we also bring in another defender and keeper.

Klopp will get it sorted.

Th n when Keita comes just watch us go.

Tommy Gunn

1.) 13 Sep 2017 22:21:47
Don't think a keeper is high on the list, two cb's for me.

2.) 13 Sep 2017 22:31:46
We need to play Gomez at CB for a while then go out and get two in Jan to replace Lovren and Klavan. Klavan is actually OK IMO against sides with no pace but we can play a high line with him.

3.) 13 Sep 2017 22:29:48
It's only the first game so not too bothered HOWEVER, this is the first time under Klopp that lour finishing was rank awful. We should have been 4-1 up at least at half time BUT we kept screwing up. I hope our boys learnt a lesson today that no matter how good you are, if you fail like we did today, to take your chances, the other team will take theirs and you'll get punished.

4.) 14 Sep 2017 15:15:42
Klopp will sort what out? Pls don't raise your hopes. He has had almost 4 transfer seasons to do that but has not been able to do anything about it. It should tell you that we have a coach who doesn't see what we see. My problem is that what we see is to glaring so for him not to see means that the guy is not a decent coach but overhyped coach. We made a big mistake going for him! Sad indeed.

20 Aug 2017 12:04:38
I am still struggling to understand the timing on Pipcos transfer to Barca.

Pipco was seen as an Iniesta replacement and all that has happened is that Barcelona have unexpectedly lost Neymar and got a shed load of money.

Why are Barcelona bringing forward the Pipco transfer when they could leave that to next season and sort out the other issues in the side with a woeful defence and need to replace Neymar.

Why is it now or never when Iniesta is still at Barcelona this season.

If Pipco has to be sold this season let's hope LFC have the deals sorted to bring in the RBL guy and the CB we are no longer interested in! If that was to happen it would make losing Pipco more acceptable.

PS. How ironic it would be if we do the Pipco deal with Barcelona only for Pipco to fail his medical due to a chronic back problem!

Tommy Gunn

{Ed002's Note - They are not "bringing it forward, it has been on the cards for more than a year. It is nothing to do with Neymar's transfer.}

1.) 20 Aug 2017 12:21:12
Ed002 thanks for you response.

I had been under the impression from comments made By Guillem Ballague that Pipco was to be seen as a target next season.

The Neymar thing then came up and blindsided Barcelona and they seem to have responded with bringing forward Pipco deal when they maybe should b dealing with other issues

Anway Ed002 I take what you say as correct and thank you.

{Ed002's Note - No, as I have been explaining for more than a year, Coutinho has been looking to engineer this move. They want him now and have been doing the right thing and making offers and discussing the matter with Liverpool. Liverpool have made it clear that they do not wish to sell and Barcelona will look to other options.}

2.) 20 Aug 2017 12:22:47
My question is why did they leave it so late to try sign him if they offered 120 million at the start of the window he'd be playing for them now.

{Ed002's Note - The transfer window is still open - there are a large number of very significant transactions that are yet to happen.}

3.) 20 Aug 2017 12:37:30
Ed002 was Pipco badly advised by his people to sign his contract extension with LFC with no provisions giving room for Barcelona to come in for him given he was looking to get to Barcelona sometime soon?

{Ed002's Note - The contract extension is nothing to do with it. He had already had his agent go speak with Barcelona by that point.}

4.) 20 Aug 2017 12:40:01
If he has been engineering this move for more than a year why sign a 5 year deal and tie your hands behind your back or was that so his agent could make a shed load of money.

{Ed002's Note - Ignore the contract.}

5.) 20 Aug 2017 12:59:18
I know I am taking my life in my hands, but. why ignore the contract?

Are we really saying that they are barely worth the paper they are written on and are purely mechanism for pay rises in return for a sham of commitment, which lasts only until a prettier girl comes along? You can see why fans would struggle with that, and I can imagine there will come a time when clubs won't.

Ed, I firmly believe there are always three sides to every story, and this is not my industry so there will be large amounts that I am oblivious too, but are you really saying that contracts are of next to no relevance now in football (which has probably been the reality for a while now)? If so, I would be interested if you have thoughts on how ownership of players, contracts, etc may evolve in the future, as clubs and players seem to have rapidly diverging interests.

{Ed002's Note - I did not say that contracts have next to no relevance. I have no idea why you are unable to grasp the simple situation that we have here. It is a player who wants to leave, a club that wants to buy and a club that doesn't want to sell. It is business as usual and there is nothing in any way special about Countinho or this potential transfer at all. You seem to think there is something strange going on. There isn't.}

6.) 20 Aug 2017 13:04:04
Ed002 it seems that the football business is like the Wild West. ignore the contract!

Pipco wants to leave LFC for Barcelona and is in process of getting move sorted but he still signs contract extension with LFC with no provisions that allow for Barcelona to come in.

It does seem that Pipcos people have not been too smart in their lives hinking.

I understand that Pipco wants to go to Barcelona and I don't have a problem with that given. It just seems odd that he ties himself up with a long contract at LFC whilst trying to engineer his Barcelona move.

Why should we ignore the contract. it gives LFC the winning hand should they chose to go all the way I this poker game.

{Ed002's Note - You seem to be simply making stuff up about "provisions for Barcelona to come in". This is the norm, it happens al;l of the time. It is the transfer process that for some reason many Liverpool supporters simply cannot grasp. The contract is of no relevance whatsoever - it is up to the club whether they will sell or not - the contract does not come in to it.}

7.) 20 Aug 2017 13:14:13
Maybe i missed the reason but why have Barcelona taken a "now or never" stance. If they fail to get pipco this window and also fail to replace iniesta before next season why would they not retry negotiations next season. Couts is coming into his prime and will most likely only get better. Surely Barcelona won't drop all interest if he was available say next summer would they?

{Ed002's Note - The want the player now - it is very, very simple. If they cannot get the player now, they will look to another target instead of Coutinho.}

8.) 20 Aug 2017 13:23:17
I just feel that if they really want him, and he also really want to go to them, they should start all of this much much earlier. I started to understand more the frustrations, it seems too late to find someone to replace him with the window just left a few days. By replacement, I meant in midfield though.

9.) 20 Aug 2017 13:23:44
Ed I appreciate its hard to answer but in YOUR opinion will Pipco join Barcelona this window?

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know. He wants to move and has been courting Barcelona for more than a year and don't forget that Liverpool and Klopp know that he is pretty desperate to join Barcelona.}

10.) 20 Aug 2017 13:28:51
Thanks Ed002.

Will be interesting to see if LFC fans are happy once transfer window closes.

I am still hoping Macca is right about who he would thinks may be coming in to the club.

We will miss Pipco if he goes but we will survive.

11.) 20 Aug 2017 13:43:43
But eds02 what about the contract? Lol.

12.) 20 Aug 2017 13:59:33
Hi ed002

Do you expect one final bid from Barcelona next week?

{Ed002's Note - I would not be surprised if there were one final offer.}

13.) 20 Aug 2017 14:46:12
Ed, sorry I was not suggesting that you were saying that they were no value, that was my interpretation from you saying"ignore the contract". Also my comment was not suggesting anything strange is going on here it is universal, and to me vvd is the same (and no doubt many more), so this is in no way me playing a poor old Liverpool card, I think the power balance seems a little lopsided at the moment, and players sign long and lucrative contracts and want to leave 5 minutes later.

I understand by one of your other responses that the reason that the contract has no relevance in your view, is because the owners will either sell, or they won't and therefore his contract is not relevant. That makes perfect sense from a completely objective perspective. However it appears that it is not that simple, because players these days seem to agitate for moves more, behave shall we say "interestingly" if they don't get their way. don't train properly, and even refuse to play (or even return to the country) . Worse is the suggestion (not from you) that many of them are "advised" to behave a certain way to get what they want.

Honestly not suggesting the Pipco situation is in any way abnormal, if anything it is becoming sadly too common.

In your view did players always do this, but it was less visible to fans before 24 hour multi-platform news, or is it as it seems a more recent phenomena?

{Ed002's Note - It is common for players to want to move on.}

Loved his attitude and commitment and a true professional and off the pitch he seems to have been an absolutely top man.

All the best to him and his family over in Italy.

Hope he comes back to the club in the future in some capacity even if just to feature on LFC TV.

I reckon he would be a treat coach and mentor.

Not bothered about England but great training session for Joe

He looks like the real deal

Well done but the game on Saturday is more important so keep focused and same again please Joe

Don’t really care if Pipco has a relapse and misses the game as it’s now more his loss than ours.

How about a profile on Billy Liddell?

All I really know of him is that some regard him as being a genuine challenger to King Kenny as the greatest Liverpool player ever though of course Kenny was much more than just a brilliant player.

Would be great if we could be told more about Billy though I doubt many will now b around to have seen him live.

Tommy Gunn

{Ed001's Note - that's a good idea. I will add him to the list of players to do. I will enjoy doing the research on that as all I know of him, other than being so good they called us Liddellpool when he played, is that kids that met him would get ignored unless they called him sir!}

The best player in his position of his generation.

A truly wonderful footballer who could stand alongside Messi and Cruyff as one of the best players Barcelona ever had.

He would be my choice to mentor Pipco and get him to the next level. Suppose that’s Barca’s plan anyway!
