Not the result we wanted but not the end of the world.

We will be fine and we will get through the group,

Defense has to be improved and I am sure it will be. We all know we are looking to bring in VVD.

Would not surprise me if we also bring in another defender and keeper.

Klopp will get it sorted.

Th n when Keita comes just watch us go.

Tommy Gunn

1.) 13 Sep 2017 22:21:47
Don't think a keeper is high on the list, two cb's for me.

2.) 13 Sep 2017 22:31:46
We need to play Gomez at CB for a while then go out and get two in Jan to replace Lovren and Klavan. Klavan is actually OK IMO against sides with no pace but we can play a high line with him.

3.) 13 Sep 2017 22:29:48
It's only the first game so not too bothered HOWEVER, this is the first time under Klopp that lour finishing was rank awful. We should have been 4-1 up at least at half time BUT we kept screwing up. I hope our boys learnt a lesson today that no matter how good you are, if you fail like we did today, to take your chances, the other team will take theirs and you'll get punished.

4.) 14 Sep 2017 15:15:42
Klopp will sort what out? Pls don't raise your hopes. He has had almost 4 transfer seasons to do that but has not been able to do anything about it. It should tell you that we have a coach who doesn't see what we see. My problem is that what we see is to glaring so for him not to see means that the guy is not a decent coach but overhyped coach. We made a big mistake going for him! Sad indeed.

I am still struggling to understand the timing on Pipcos transfer to Barca.

Pipco was seen as an Iniesta replacement and all that has happened is that Barcelona have unexpectedly lost Neymar and got a shed load of money.

Why are Barcelona bringing forward the Pipco transfer when they could leave that to next season and sort out the other issues in the side with a woeful defence and need to replace Neymar.

Why is it now or never when Iniesta is still at Barcelona this season.

If Pipco has to be sold this season let's hope LFC have the deals sorted to bring in the RBL guy and the CB we are no longer interested in! If that was to happen it would make losing Pipco more acceptable.

PS. How ironic it would be if we do the Pipco deal with Barcelona only for Pipco to fail his medical due to a chronic back problem!

Tommy Gunn

{Ed002's Note - They are not "bringing it forward, it has been on the cards for more than a year. It is nothing to do with Neymar's transfer.}

1.) 20 Aug 2017 12:21:12
Ed002 thanks for you response.

I had been under the impression from comments made By Guillem Ballague that Pipco was to be seen as a target next season.

The Neymar thing then came up and blindsided Barcelona and they seem to have responded with bringing forward Pipco deal when they maybe should b dealing with other issues

Anway Ed002 I take what you say as correct and thank you.

{Ed002's Note - No, as I have been explaining for more than a year, Coutinho has been looking to engineer this move. They want him now and have been doing the right thing and making offers and discussing the matter with Liverpool. Liverpool have made it clear that they do not wish to sell and Barcelona will look to other options.}

2.) 20 Aug 2017 12:22:47
My question is why did they leave it so late to try sign him if they offered 120 million at the start of the window he'd be playing for them now.

{Ed002's Note - The transfer window is still open - there are a large number of very significant transactions that are yet to happen.}

3.) 20 Aug 2017 12:37:30
Ed002 was Pipco badly advised by his people to sign his contract extension with LFC with no provisions giving room for Barcelona to come in for him given he was looking to get to Barcelona sometime soon?

{Ed002's Note - The contract extension is nothing to do with it. He had already had his agent go speak with Barcelona by that point.}

4.) 20 Aug 2017 12:40:01
If he has been engineering this move for more than a year why sign a 5 year deal and tie your hands behind your back or was that so his agent could make a shed load of money.

{Ed002's Note - Ignore the contract.}

5.) 20 Aug 2017 12:59:18
I know I am taking my life in my hands, but. why ignore the contract?

Are we really saying that they are barely worth the paper they are written on and are purely mechanism for pay rises in return for a sham of commitment, which lasts only until a prettier girl comes along? You can see why fans would struggle with that, and I can imagine there will come a time when clubs won't.

Ed, I firmly believe there are always three sides to every story, and this is not my industry so there will be large amounts that I am oblivious too, but are you really saying that contracts are of next to no relevance now in football (which has probably been the reality for a while now)? If so, I would be interested if you have thoughts on how ownership of players, contracts, etc may evolve in the future, as clubs and players seem to have rapidly diverging interests.

{Ed002's Note - I did not say that contracts have next to no relevance. I have no idea why you are unable to grasp the simple situation that we have here. It is a player who wants to leave, a club that wants to buy and a club that doesn't want to sell. It is business as usual and there is nothing in any way special about Countinho or this potential transfer at all. You seem to think there is something strange going on. There isn't.}

6.) 20 Aug 2017 13:04:04
Ed002 it seems that the football business is like the Wild West. ignore the contract!

Pipco wants to leave LFC for Barcelona and is in process of getting move sorted but he still signs contract extension with LFC with no provisions that allow for Barcelona to come in.

It does seem that Pipcos people have not been too smart in their lives hinking.

I understand that Pipco wants to go to Barcelona and I don't have a problem with that given. It just seems odd that he ties himself up with a long contract at LFC whilst trying to engineer his Barcelona move.

Why should we ignore the contract. it gives LFC the winning hand should they chose to go all the way I this poker game.

{Ed002's Note - You seem to be simply making stuff up about "provisions for Barcelona to come in". This is the norm, it happens al;l of the time. It is the transfer process that for some reason many Liverpool supporters simply cannot grasp. The contract is of no relevance whatsoever - it is up to the club whether they will sell or not - the contract does not come in to it.}

7.) 20 Aug 2017 13:14:13
Maybe i missed the reason but why have Barcelona taken a "now or never" stance. If they fail to get pipco this window and also fail to replace iniesta before next season why would they not retry negotiations next season. Couts is coming into his prime and will most likely only get better. Surely Barcelona won't drop all interest if he was available say next summer would they?

{Ed002's Note - The want the player now - it is very, very simple. If they cannot get the player now, they will look to another target instead of Coutinho.}

8.) 20 Aug 2017 13:23:17
I just feel that if they really want him, and he also really want to go to them, they should start all of this much much earlier. I started to understand more the frustrations, it seems too late to find someone to replace him with the window just left a few days. By replacement, I meant in midfield though.

9.) 20 Aug 2017 13:23:44
Ed I appreciate its hard to answer but in YOUR opinion will Pipco join Barcelona this window?

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know. He wants to move and has been courting Barcelona for more than a year and don't forget that Liverpool and Klopp know that he is pretty desperate to join Barcelona.}

10.) 20 Aug 2017 13:28:51
Thanks Ed002.

Will be interesting to see if LFC fans are happy once transfer window closes.

I am still hoping Macca is right about who he would thinks may be coming in to the club.

We will miss Pipco if he goes but we will survive.

11.) 20 Aug 2017 13:43:43
But eds02 what about the contract? Lol.

12.) 20 Aug 2017 13:59:33
Hi ed002

Do you expect one final bid from Barcelona next week?

{Ed002's Note - I would not be surprised if there were one final offer.}

13.) 20 Aug 2017 14:46:12
Ed, sorry I was not suggesting that you were saying that they were no value, that was my interpretation from you saying"ignore the contract". Also my comment was not suggesting anything strange is going on here it is universal, and to me vvd is the same (and no doubt many more), so this is in no way me playing a poor old Liverpool card, I think the power balance seems a little lopsided at the moment, and players sign long and lucrative contracts and want to leave 5 minutes later.

I understand by one of your other responses that the reason that the contract has no relevance in your view, is because the owners will either sell, or they won't and therefore his contract is not relevant. That makes perfect sense from a completely objective perspective. However it appears that it is not that simple, because players these days seem to agitate for moves more, behave shall we say "interestingly" if they don't get their way. don't train properly, and even refuse to play (or even return to the country) . Worse is the suggestion (not from you) that many of them are "advised" to behave a certain way to get what they want.

Honestly not suggesting the Pipco situation is in any way abnormal, if anything it is becoming sadly too common.

In your view did players always do this, but it was less visible to fans before 24 hour multi-platform news, or is it as it seems a more recent phenomena?

{Ed002's Note - It is common for players to want to move on.}

15 Aug 2017 23:03:15
Why don't we make it up with Southampton and swap Lovren Sakho and Clyne for VDR?

We could let them tell everyone how we had our leg lifted!

It could work. unless they follow this site and see what we are up to.

Tommy Gunn

1.) 15 Aug 2017 23:53:47
Who's VDR?

2.) 15 Aug 2017 23:40:27
Is that Darth Vdr?

3.) 16 Aug 2017 00:12:31
Voyage data recorder.

4.) 16 Aug 2017 04:14:04
No, it must be Vitamin D3 Receptor.

11 Aug 2017 20:05:06
Plan A would be we don't want to sell and we don't have to. sell and we can play hardball and refuse to let Pipco go.

Come September he will accept position and knuckle down to it.

Plan B would be to get replacement from RBL in and then sell Pipco

Plan C Would be to take Iniesta and cash.

Let The powers that be sort it out.

My choice would be to play it smart and gett both plan B and plan C

Iniesta is my favourite non Liverpool player and if he would come it would be awesome. But to ring in RBL player as well would be the best transfer window we have had.

Tommy Gunn

1.) 11 Aug 2017 20:13:01
Take Iniesta, the player Barcelona want Coutinho to replace? How do you think 33y/ o Iniesta would adjust to the Premier League?

2.) 11 Aug 2017 20:16:46
Iniesta could play in EPL when he is 40.he is technically on a different planet to most EPL players.

3.) 11 Aug 2017 20:30:27
Lucky, he'd have the stuffing kicked out of him.

4.) 11 Aug 2017 20:30:27
Lucky, he'd have the stuffing kicked out of him.

5.) 11 Aug 2017 20:34:08
it would prob take him a season to adjust, but he would still be only 34 yrs old .

6.) 11 Aug 2017 20:44:16
This is right up there on the nonsense scale!

7.) 11 Aug 2017 20:54:19
I was being a bit sarcastic, look, get as much money out of Barcelona that we can, then buy in two maybe three great players, and away we go again .

8.) 11 Aug 2017 21:27:03
I believe Pipco will leave. My fantasy replacement would be Kroos. I think Draxler should be considered esp. with the Neymar signing.
However, I wish the owners would refuse to sell. Pipco would readjust by September when he realises that it's a world cup year.

05 Aug 2017 11:02:21
The concern that I would have if Pipco leaves is that it could well unsettle Firmino.

What with Lucas having gone he might decide its time for a change.

The Latin influence at LFC is being reduced.

Having said all that I think Pipco will be staying this season and we will get VDV or another CB in through the door.

Also I think we are in with an outside chance. Of signing Mbappe.

Clearly there are other sides in with more of a chance but the combination of Klopp's personality and FSG willingness to back the deal could just mean that we pull off the impossible deal.

In short its crazy but it could just happen.

Tommy Gunn

1.) 05 Aug 2017 11:25:30
Crazy yes, happening no.
As for FSG's willingness to back the Manager:-
Solanke signed but going to tribunal due to an unwillingness to match Chelseas valuation.
Robertson signed due to not willing to fork out for preferred choice of Mendy.
Salah signed for more than they had hoped due to fear of being reported yet again for tapping up.
Will not take less than £30 million for Sakho. Will not take less than £16 million for Moreno.
With others sold so far, would that not virtually balance the books?
Just playing devils advocate. But remember, truth is stranger than fiction wooooooo.

{Ed002's Note - None of this has anything to do with the owners who do not make these decisions. These decisions are made by the football club.}

2.) 05 Aug 2017 11:31:41
Mbappe is off to Real Madrid. There's absolutely zero chance that you will ever see him in a Liverpool shirt.

3.) 05 Aug 2017 11:35:31
I agree ed but surely the owners are the ones who control the financials?
Anyway, I was just having a bit of fun with all those fans who look for things that aren't there.

4.) 05 Aug 2017 11:51:56
Billy, no they do not. There are people employed by the owners who handle finances so pls, stop with this theory that the owners decide or have a say on who signs and who sold and for how much. There are people like Michael Edwards, Mike Gordon and Mr Moore amongst others, who handle these issues. In fact if anyone is more involved, it is Klopp and his scouting team.

5.) 05 Aug 2017 15:27:03
While I get your point woluwe, my point is that if the owners don't dip their hands in their pockets then no one signs. Edwards, Gordon and Moore (who has nothing to do with transfers) don't use their own money. Besides the post was a tongue in cheek, but hey ho.

6.) 05 Aug 2017 18:32:17
As much as I like Coutinho, if he goes, he goes. He will be replaced by someone else. Its not the end of the world at all.

7.) 05 Aug 2017 21:42:17
Billy how dare you try have a bit of fun! Do you not know this site is about bitching and moaning? either mention VVD, Coutinho or he who shall not be named or get lost! :)

But there may have been discussions between VVD and his club which might make the way clear for a move to be made in January?

If Southampton are willing to sell to Chelsea then we should put in our offer and match or offer a bit more and get the job done and everyone should have a positive result from this mess.

Loved his attitude and commitment and a true professional and off the pitch he seems to have been an absolutely top man.

All the best to him and his family over in Italy.

Hope he comes back to the club in the future in some capacity even if just to feature on LFC TV.

I reckon he would be a treat coach and mentor.

Hi ed 001Hull were playing Southampton not Palace yesterday

Agree Maguire is not top class but I think it shows that with good coaching ( silva) you can make defenders better. still hope for Loren to be decent as part of a revamped back line at LFC.

Tommy Gunn

{Ed001's Note - shows how poor they were that I never remembered that when I sat and watched it! Apologies though you are correct, it was Saints that were dreadful. No idea why I said Palace.}

Sounds like he is playing piker and is putting most of his chips into the pot.

Don't think he has considered the implications if LFC does not fold.

Pipco could be facing a major career problem.

Hopefully LFC can bring in a couple of players to strengthen the defence and midfield and once that is done let Pipco move on to Barca.

If we can't get the players in then Pipco has to stay and he may find his professional life difficult in the short term.

Best thing might be for Barcelona to accept defeat for now and let Pipco know the door will be open next summer.
