It's been so busy over the Christmas and New Year period

Results have been good even when performances have dipped and that's not a bad sign

We have finally seen the end of the Barcelona Phil transfer saga. Very good player gone but what a fee.

If Phil had not been our player I don't think we would have been looking to buy him in from another club at that price.

Great to beat Everton in the FACup and what a debut for VVD. Clearly we have to wait to see how it turns out but watching the game I felt more confident about our defence with VVD at the back. We also have more attacking options at set pieces now with VVD around.

Really pleased that Joe Gomez and Trent are continuing there fine progress in and around the first team. It's great to see and those two could have saved us a fortune in transfer fees if we had to be bring in guys for their places.

Hearing of the loss of Ed001 best mate is so sad and I just hope the pain and sadness get bearable. Treasure the memories and never forget the good times.

It's the time of year maybe but the loss is someone close to you puts things in perspective.

Buy Phil . thanks for the memories

Welcome Virgil to LFC

Looking forward to seeing who we sign next. Maybe Lemar. who knows. other than Ed001 or Ed002?

Best recent edition to these pages has been Ed025. It is great to have an Evertonian on here who can provide humour and sense and mix it with LFC fans. that's what football banter is all about.

Let's hope for silverware this year but more than that let's just hope 2018 brings us all a bit of happiness and closer together.

{Ed001's Note - thank you from all the Eds Tommy G.}

Well said Tommy G we can see that we're not a million miles away from competing at the top we have good players coming through the ranks were in a really good position let Barcelona have coutinho who was the last player to come through their ranks to achieve great things or even more who was the last player they bought cheap and turned into a world beater.

2.) 07 Jan 2018 08:01:39
Well said Tommy mate, lots to look forward to and be positive about. My thoughts and best wishes to you Ed01 if our players show half the commitment to the club that you do to this site we’ll be sitting pretty.

{Ed001's Note - cheers Squizza, though it is different for the players, they are employees rather than creators of the club, to be fair.}

Best wishes for a Happy and peaceful New Year to all the Eds and to everyone else in the LFC family

Let's get some silverware this year

Hope 2018 brings justice for the families of the 96.

Was surprised with team selection but liked it as it shows our squad is getting stronger.

We do need to rotate and Klopp is learning lessons about EPL

Mane should have squared for a tap in but he was through on goal and he shouldn't have missed the target. It was a split second decision which he got wrong.

Salah header close but not blaming him for missing target on the one. He is going to convert more of his chances eventually and then watch out.

It was a penalty. Soft and stupid thing to do by Lovren.

Disappointing result but not Klopp's fault.

Look to get 3 points off WBA and close on Chelski and Man Utd.

At the moment I think that we are developing into a stronger squad and with some more hard word we can finish top four and have two good cup runs.

Liked it that Klopp showed anger in his interview as it means he cares about the derby.

Its history now and we move on and he will get the team up for WBA .

Tommy, Klopp should get to know how much the fans are up for the Derby game, then to hear that he had made 6 changes, it took the edge from the game, also I thought too many players were in a comfort zone, it was nearly too easy at times,
we should have got the 2nd goal before we took our foot off the pedal,
if only Mane had made the easy pass, making it 2 goals up going into half time .

How does the current side compare to Klopp's best Dortmund sides?

Suspect this LFC side would win the Bundesliga.

Tommy Gunn

1.) 07 Dec 2017 10:14:56
No, not a chance. That Dortmund side had a defence capable of winning the bundesliga and besting one of the strongest teams in Europe twice in Bayern Munich. Going forward yeah I’d agree, but overall no way. Don’t get carried away, but remain positive.

Moreno's wife just had baby boy last night: Alberto Junior

Congratulations to Alberto and his family and the way dad is playing this season Alberto Junior will be a proud lad.

Second that credit where its due I am really happy to see a player want to stay and fight forhis club career npt about money or contracts just about wanting to do his bestdinner for liverpool #respect alberto.

2.) 18 Nov 2017 23:39:30
he won me over weeks ago, good to have a quick, intelligent, left footed left back and another to boot. Congrats all round moreno.

3.) 19 Nov 2017 00:37:57
Well said. Moreno has not let the abuse or distractions get to him and he fully merits his place in the team. Congratulations to him for becoming a father, and the boy did not even let that get in the way of being a true professional. Great lad!

4.) 19 Nov 2017 04:20:56
Moreno's form doesn't really come into any discussion about him having a child, are we only going to start congratulating players who are playing well now? 😂

Nah i've been his biggest critic but whether he is playing amazingly or woefully he is still a member of Liverpool Football Club, it is only a game. Important to remember that no matter what happens on the pitch all of our players are still human beings.

Congratulations Alberto Snr.

I am as frustrated as everyone else by our defensive frailties but Klopp is still the right man to lead us and our team plays some of the best football in the league

It will all come good and we will get a proper keeper

And for Ron we will field a strong side against Everton in the cup and we will batter the living daylights out of them

Merry. Christmas to one and all.

But there may have been discussions between VVD and his club which might make the way clear for a move to be made in January?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool isued a public statement withdrawing interest in van Dijk.}

There is a Liverpool Gin which I got as a Christmas present but I haven’t tried it yet. It has some Valencia Orange flavour apparently, There is a Liver bird on the label

Thank you for the recommendations but rather childishly I won’t try the Manchester Gin but I will look out for Bombay Dry and Sipsmiths,

Ed002 which gin do you prefer.

I like Bombay Sapphire with Fever Tree tonic but recently I have really enjoyed the rhubarb and ginger flavoured gin from Edinburgh Gin Company-

Artisan gins are enjoying a bit of a renaissance at the moment-

I suspect that you may not be too well acquainted with rhubarb- The best is grown up here in Yorkshire but people talk a lot of rhubarb throughout the country-.

Tommy Gunn

{Ed002's Note - I like the Bombay Dry rather that the Sapphire - which is baby oil like, Sipsmiths and M&S’s own. My youngest daughter likes the Rhubarb gin. Against the grain, check out Manchester Gin. I always buy a bottle in different counties and there are a bunch to be opened.}

Players do come and go but there is something special. about LFC.

Just ask ed001 or any of the regulars to this site.

Tommy Gunn

{Ed002's Note - I agree that many of the fans are special.}

Great question and thanks to ed002 for the detailed reply.
