Matip out for 6 weeks with broken collar bone apparently.

Lovren and van djik need to stay fit then! i was actually really impressed with him last night too. hopefully trent and milner are okay.

1.) 12 Dec 2018 17:41:00
When did that happen? He played the full 90. we’re getting injuries at the wrong time.

2.) 12 Dec 2018 17:56:30
Testing times but I have confidence in Klopp to find the right fix. I’d love to see Fab have a game at RB, I know it’s not his preferred position but he plays it well enough for Brazil for me to want to have a look. Trent has the potent to be as flexible on the pitch as Millie so now could be his chance to fill some boots.

3.) 12 Dec 2018 18:47:04
I think it is to his credit he played for 90 minutes. Also he has played well in the last few games so will be a loss to the squad. Just hope Trent or Milner are fit.

4.) 12 Dec 2018 19:08:34
Wheres Klaven when you need him! :, (.

5.) 12 Dec 2018 18:47:04

6.) 12 Dec 2018 20:58:51
Do we have any of the u23s ready to step up if needs be? I don’t know enough about the players out side of the first team squad?

7.) 12 Dec 2018 21:51:54
I think Wijnaldum played cb last season?

8.) 12 Dec 2018 22:55:40
wouldn't be surprised of natty Phillips gets drafted in, klopp seemed to like him in pre season ed01 you think he could step up in a premier league game? Obvs not against United but the next game?

9.) 12 Dec 2018 22:59:41
What about Nat Phillips? he looked good in preseason.

10.) 12 Dec 2018 23:24:26
Kman, I think this happened right on the final whistle.

11.) 13 Dec 2018 00:11:38
Yeah Shents. It was his last aerial challenge with Koulibaly which was literally as the last whistle was going.

12.) 13 Dec 2018 00:16:23
So annoying when players that we wrote off start performing then they get injured, is it really then their fault when they go through those dead spells? Lallana, moreno, studge, matip.

13.) 13 Dec 2018 13:08:20
You have to feel for him, time on bench seemed to have elevated his game.

20 Jul 2016 10:42:09
Hi eds, hope you are well.

There are reports that atletico Madrid are interested in origi. Do you know if there is any truth to this? I hope it's nonsense I really like orogi. Has huge potential.

{Ed002's Note - He is certainly not first or second choice for them.}

1.) 20 Jul 2016 12:04:44
thanks for the reply ed, much appreciated.

lets hope they get their first or second choice.

2.) 20 Jul 2016 12:55:28
What about 3rd choice.

27 Jun 2016 13:51:29
afternoon eds thanks for all your time and effort. its much appreciated.

you have mentioned an interest in Bastien, is this Samuel Bastien? and hoping you could let us know who else is interested? I have tried the search function with no luck sadly

thanks eds.

{Ed002's Note - Anderlecht are keen to hold on to Samuel Bastien who has been on loan to Avellino but are aware of interest from a number of sides including Benfica (who have made an offer), PSV, Lille, Liverpool (Rodgers was keen on a deal right from the start of the season on the basis of youth scouting reports), Fiorentina and Genoa. Interest of Juventus has gone.}

1.) 27 Jun 2016 18:46:35
Thanks ed. Thought I would ask is it looks like we are definitely after a central midfielder.

28 Feb 2019 11:54:23
if i have ever have a child im going to request that Trent delivers it, excellent performance from all the lads last night!

you feeling nervy after watching that ed025?

{Ed025's Note - not nervy ste....more PETRIFIED mate.. :)

1.) 28 Feb 2019 12:19:35
How will Everton set up? I hope like v Spurs but I would imagine 10 behind the ball.

{Ed025's Note - im hoping 1 defender and 10 goalies mark.. :)

2.) 28 Feb 2019 12:54:24
I reckon Everton will do better than you think 25.

What more motivation does the team need mate? Stopping LFC from another 3points, you’ll be right up for it.

{Ed025's Note - i think we will be up for it drogie and i expect us to give it our best shot, but you would always expect a ferrari to beat a ford focus mate..

3.) 28 Feb 2019 12:59:57
so little faith in the defence Ed025?

but having seen some of the matches, i have no idea how they are defending. it was in a game in Dec/ Jan that they conceded 3 in a match through set-pieces. the way they were defending reminded me of Liverpool 2013/ 4 - midfielders not involved, defenders ball watching, goalkeeper can be beat as long as the shot is on target even with little pace, power, placement.

{Ed025's Note - we are not in a good place sg and have a big problem trying to implement zonal marking, our attack is a bit blunt as well with us not having a natural goal scorer so you should win easy on paper, but this is grass and this is a merseyside derby so i live in hope mate..

4.) 28 Feb 2019 14:36:39
Did someone mention paper and grass?

5.) 28 Feb 2019 15:11:39
Nice one Ed. I think it will be a close game, first goal very important.

6.) 28 Feb 2019 15:16:43
Not necessarily ed025.u guys did draw wid city last year i believe and the way this league is playing out. a draw is a bad result now.

{Ed025's Note - if we get a draw i would be more than happy liverbird, and if we win i will be dining out on it for at least a year mate.. :)

26 Feb 2019 16:37:26
seen a lot of doom and gloom on the pages lately. remarkable considering where we are in the league. i would consider our recent form a blip, every team has one, and if you can can ensure that you are still picking up points during this period its all you can hope for.

we have sacrificed a lot of our creativity for defensive solidity this year, this was 100% the correct decision, we would not and have not been able to sustain our full throttle football for an entire season. the injuries are bad enough at the moment. we have seen it in glimpses, most recently the Bournemouth game. with the lack of creativity in midfield i think the only way to ensure you consistently pick up points is to be solid at the back, if the front three have an off day you can still nick a goal or at least keep a clean sheet. i don't blame Klopp at all for the change in stance, he deserves tremendous credit.

our opposition, the most expensively assembled squad in premier league history have dropped more points than us at this stage of the season, lost more games and so far have had the easier fixtures. how can anyone be negative at the moment? "we could have been 10 points clear" was everyone expecting us to win every game from Jan-May? it was always going to be tight. if we can head into the international break ahead of city or even level i will consider the it a massive success. everyone should calm down and enjoy the excitement of being in it, Im 22 so not used to this so its killing me but im loving being involved. we are in a better position than any other team out of any division domestically. Enjoy it lads it could be worse!

Watford is massive tomorrow and Bobby missing is a huge opportunity for somebody else. let's hope Salah continues his form against the hornets. let's get behind the team and hope we have something to show for the work that we've done this year!

{Ed025's Note - good post that ste..

1.) 26 Feb 2019 16:48:45
Cheers ed, hopefully your lot maintain current form to help us out!

{Ed025's Note - i hope not ste we need the points mate, and klopp saying that this is our "world cup final" has somewhat added fuel to the fire, not every evertonian is as gracious as me im afraid.. :)

2.) 26 Feb 2019 16:51:26
Yes that's a great post. spot on lfcste29.

3.) 26 Feb 2019 16:51:47
LFCSTE28, very well said young ‘un even if you make me feel as old as Methuselah. Or Ed025.

{Ed025's Note - i am worldly wise rather than old WW, and still a stud muffin in woolton village...apparently.. :)

4.) 26 Feb 2019 18:02:47
I agree, a decent post but not everyone is mooting doom and gloom, we as supporters are just saying what we feel and discussing what we see on the pitch.

I know you mentioned we’ve only lost 1 game so far, but I cast your mind back to the 08/ 09 season when we finished 2nd. We only lost twice but had 11 draws, United lost 4 games that season and won the league. City have lost 4 games but are only a point behind.

We’ve got to start converting these draws into wins or else I can see a similar pattern, we’ve already drawn 6 games so far this season .

I sometimes think it’s better to have a loss then go on a winning run.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing of course but history says we can’t keep drawing matches.

5.) 26 Feb 2019 18:10:55
Great post, OP. These are the types of posts I like to read. it touches every as[ect of our current form so far and the bigger picture is emphasized. The hope now is that we can get it going again vs Watford.

Pls if anyone is going to Anfield tmrw, sing your hearts out NO MATTER what is happening on the pitch. Our boys need to feel like we are with them and giving them all the courage to b on the front foot. If anyone is slagging them off, tell them to stop it and get behind the team. They really need us right now. Up Da Pool!

6.) 26 Feb 2019 19:11:00
I don't get the talk around easier fixtures?

we have to play spurs and chelsea
City have to play united and spurs

Pretty even!

7.) 26 Feb 2019 19:57:23
Cheers lads, the reason i mention easier fixtures is we have playee every big six side away. As well as wolves. But got a point ed, even your lot fully motivated will struggle to get out their own half. And that's against cardiff!

8.) 26 Feb 2019 20:03:35
They may be the most expensive club in history but we only play them twice, that’s all, the rest are not the most expensive club in history. Everyone here says forget what city do so let’s not hear that everyone lies down against them either.
We are causing the results we are getting, go read Ed01 game review and see what’s actually happening on the field. 10 point lead has been flittered away because of us, not City and their most expensive team. Players need to lift their performances, that’s why we are in our blip.

06 Sep 2018 13:45:27
Hi all. Hope everyone is well.

Was thinking about a couple of players currently unable to obtain work permits Allan, Arroyo ext. How is it that the championship and other lower leagues can have foreign players? How do they qualify for work permits?

Forgive me if this a stupid question.

{Ed002's Note - Do you have particular players in mind?}

1.) 06 Sep 2018 16:24:03
There are plenty of ways to qualify, just like anyone coming to the UK.

Most will of course be from other EU countries with the right to free movement. A large portion of the rest will be naturalised British citizens (or other EU country citizens) even if they do not represent the country that nationalised them e. g. if Sterling had chosen to play for Jamaica, he would still be a naturalized British citizen with the right to live and work here. In some EU countries, they will accept as naturalized citizens people with fairly distant genetic links so this is a surprisingly big group.

Then there are those who are from other countries that the UK has free or relatively free movement between e. g. Canada, where you can work for 2 years with no work permit and will usually be granted a work permit if you can prove consistent skilled employment throughout that time.

And a final small number will qualify for a working visa under the normal conditions required for footballers which Ed002 has previously explained in detail and would be easier to look up than read my ham-fisted explanation.

And there we have it - the many ways that footballers of the world might be allowed to play in the English League structure. don't think I've missed any but happy to be corrected.

2.) 06 Sep 2018 17:20:33
Hjikle, great knowledge, let me pose the question in another way.

Does any reader of these pages ever expect Taiwo Awoniyi, Allan Rodrigues or Anderson Arroyo ever to make a first team appearance for our club? The first two are in their fourth season on our books and are as far away from a work permit as the day they arrived.

3.) 06 Sep 2018 20:30:33
Hjikle that was a good answer and hopefully the op will be able to read Edds comments.

4.) 07 Sep 2018 12:21:25
Hi ed, had a look and examples could be Lusaka of Birmingham or Evandro of hull.

{Ed002's Note - I can't help with Lusaka as I don't know who the player is but checking the Exceptions Panel records it shows Evandro is a Serbian national and was confirmed via the Exceptions Panel based on his playing for senior European sides at the highest level. This was deemed an acceptable proposal from the club. So I still really don't get your point about other divisions - the rules are straightforward and have been revised in recent years.}

5.) 07 Sep 2018 20:17:08
Wasn't trying to make a point just gain a better understanding thanks hjikle. Appreciate the info.

25 Aug 2018 20:40:47
Not the best performance today, a few nervy moments but got the 3 points, and that's what matters! Brighton proved to be difficult to break down today and credit to Chris hughton.

Passing was off, lacked that bit if fluidity. I think it's clear some players aren't 100% fit. But we ground out the result and made the 1 clear chance count. Brilliant finish! Roll on Leicester!

1.) 25 Aug 2018 21:29:16
Agreed mate last season we beat palace at home an were lucky also drew with Burnley and west Bromwich Albion rubbish happens, athletico Madrid jus beat rayo vallecano 1-0 at home it's not always going to b pretty an it's not just us all teams in all leagues.

{Ed0333's Note - I think the fitness issue is more pertinent than the performance one. We know this team is capable of magic it’s gonna take a few more games before the lads will produce the swashbuckling stuff we know their capable of. It’s clear to see some of them are not match fit.

2.) 25 Aug 2018 21:46:51
Wijnaldum played really well again today. He is making it very hard for Klopp to leave him out.

3.) 25 Aug 2018 21:59:19
Agreed Wirral Gini was good today. He has had a good start to the season and I hope he continues to prove me wrong.

4.) 25 Aug 2018 22:16:42
Soz ed I found it the player profile.

5.) 25 Aug 2018 22:03:20
Yes ed I agree totally b nice when fabihno can slot in and keita fully at home, I still think we needed a dependable deputy for bobby though as we need variety, I love the idea of sturridge but hate the reality that at any moment he can break down with injury when putting a shift in when we need him most, can u help me do u have a player profile section.

{Ed0333's Note - when and if Sturridge goes on to the treatment table we have Shaq who can operate across the front three positions. I would have bought on Shaqiri before Sturridge today but it all worked out in the end. I just feel Sturridge is a trifle greedy and shoots when electing to pass would be a better option. Maybe I’m being over critical. But to be fair it’s great to see Sturridge playing and fit.

6.) 25 Aug 2018 22:37:25
Big big big difference in watching a team perform like this under a new manager going he will have them playing properly soon, give it time.

To you know exactly what this team is capable of, how good they are and how much stronger we are than last year.

Not a worry in the world.

Just keep getting the points boys

This might just be the defenses first 3 months and the attack can lead it after that!

7.) 25 Aug 2018 23:52:05
Have to agree about Sturridge seeming selfish ed - preseason he was dropping in, holding onto to the ball and bringing others into play. Today he just seemed intent on shooting.

{Ed0333's Note - I just think he’s eager to impress and stake a claim. When he came on it was better to play percentage passes rather than those shots with a low back lift with a defender on you and trying to squeeze the ball into a tight space in the goal. I just thought it would have been more beneficial to bring Shaqiri on to inject a bit of dynamism and stretch them a bit more but Studge scored with his first touch last week and I’m sure he had a good week training.

8.) 26 Aug 2018 08:55:23
totally agree yesterday was perfect to give Shaqiri 20 mins to lift the pace. Firmino hasn't got started yet and Mane was poor yesterday.

9.) 26 Aug 2018 09:30:35
The only thing I can think of is he is tested Shaqs attitude.

Will he continue working hard in training and stay positive even when h3a not getting picked especially in games he should at least be getting 2o minutes in.

Otherwise klopp is still no better in his subs. Got rid of klavan and now brings Matip on 😓 honestly cannot b3 doing with that.

25 Aug 2018 15:56:03
Having a conversation earlier about 3pm kick offs and was hoping the eds could shed some light on it.

I was if the understanding that an agreement in the 1960's to not televise 3oclock games to ensure fans attended games, and therefore increased revenue.

Now in 2018, televising games would help revenue we all know how lucrative the tv deals are, is there any particular reason as to why this rule has bit been looked at? Why has this has this stayed in place all this time? Does this happen elsewhere in Europe?

I'm doubtful this would impact attendances at the ground, ask any real fan and they would rather be at the game cheering in their team, not in the couch but would make it easier for those on the UK to follow their teams.

Thanks in advance eds and reds.

P. s glad to see salah back, read your post on your return. Fantastic attitude mate Hope your on the mend pal.

{Ed002's Note - It has been looked at and the clubs don’t want it changed, and there would be nothing but a loss in revenue for the clubs as there would not be additional money, but it would need to be spread thinner - effectively equally in all divisions. A number of the clubs see a future in alternate media, streaming etc..}

1.) 25 Aug 2018 16:28:26
You would have to instantly lower match day prices.

Germany is something like 22 to go to the game and 12 to watch it at home.

If it was 50 to go and 10 to watch in the comfort of your own home, especially when it's wet and freezing or your team is doing particularly badly. I'm not worried for liverpool but teams like Everton, Bournemouth, Yeovil would suffer hugely.

To be fair Maccies happy meals could be abit of good business 4 chickens nuggets, fries, coke and a match ticket for goodison. 2.69 might be a little pricey thinking about it 🤣.

2.) 25 Aug 2018 19:28:04
You've also got to think about the lower league clubs. I go and watch my local team at 3pm on Saturday but if I could stay in and watch the reds I'd be indoors. Same with about 50% of the other supporters in that stadium.
Lots of lower league clubs will go out of business.

3.) 25 Aug 2018 20:28:24
Completely understand your points. Ed has mentioned the pan Europe in league, this would require a restructuring the league's. Maybe we will see it then. But I think that will be the day football stops being special.

4.) 25 Aug 2018 21:01:34
In 20 years the pan league will happen.

In 50 years they will look back on the decision that destoyed football.

Simply put.

5.) 25 Aug 2018 21:40:14
Agrees Klopps boss.

6.) 25 Aug 2018 22:06:07
no problem Kloppboss I will be dead by then.

{Ed002's Note - It will be discussed again this coming week.}

7.) 25 Aug 2018 22:19:31
Nonsense. It might not be the same for the few hundred thousand that go to the matches, but it won't change too much for the few hundred million watching on TV. There will be more non professional teams for those who hark back to the good old days to go and watch live, but for everyone else there will still be high quality sporting spectacles to watch every week. It's an internationally followed sport, and time people realised it, embraced it and got used to the idea of it. Otherwise, you might as well chuck out your computers and mobile phones, your electric lighting and pot noodles and your funky automobiles. Times change, get used to it.

{Ed002's Note - It is rather naive to expect football to be converted to entirely free per view or pay per view. Either way the clubs will lose out.}

8.) 25 Aug 2018 22:54:24
You can stream any game anyway. What’s the difference?

{Ed002's Note - The difference is the clubs would lose the largest part of their income.}

9.) 25 Aug 2018 23:59:37
But is that a problem ed? Don't these things even out to match the market place? I mean, if too many people stream for free then the cost of watching will have to reduce and surely club budgets would have to adhere to the financial constraints of whatever the TV revenue was. I certainly don't imagine clubs agreeing to pay per view deals where income can't be predicted accurately. I also don't expect free football at all, officially speaking, but they need to price it so people watch it otherwise what's the point?

{Ed002's Note - It would be a major problem for clubs to lose that income. Clubs like Liverpool rely on it and yet still are building debt at a significant rate - if you don’t have the income then you can’t borrow to build the debt that some clubs are happy to accept. If there is no deal with the likes of Sky then who will provide the OB and transmission - you want to watch Liverpool on cellphone clips on Facebook whilst the club is being financially crippled - then that is the way to go.}

10.) 26 Aug 2018 06:24:37
In the NFL games are only shown on tv in the area when it’s a sell out, so the premier league could work on that basis when showing a Saturday at 3:00 game?

{Ed001's Note - the NFL doesn't have a lower league system to worry about, it is not the same and would not help matters. The Premier League is not the issue.}

11.) 26 Aug 2018 10:15:47
Argh my browser just reset and I lost my rather elongated reply (lucky eds) . I'll do what the tabloids do and leave out all the details which hold any weight and instead I'll just give you a dodgy analogical quote. As Jeff Goldblum said in Jurassic park, "Life, uhh, finds a way".

seen this earlier today. think this would be a fantastic idea to implement, especially with the intoduction of VAR next year, it would clarify why decisions were made. but would highlight how inept the refs in this country are so won't happen! .

Robbo really has been off the boil lately. the frustrating thing with him is he has shown he has the ability to put a hell of a ball in but he the inconsistency in his delivery is really frustrating! something he needs to work on. he needs to get closer to his man to stop the crosses into the box and 1 v 1 his body shape seems off to me. him getting ripped by gnabry on a few occassions the other night really highlighted that. His attitude seems fantastic though so hopefully he can iron out these issues with time. Milner is not a RB so i have sympathy for him on he defensive side but no excuse for his woeful deliveries.
