Hope this is alright for the banter pages. But with Arsenal so keen to sell to their rvials does anyone else think Giroud would be a random but maybe brilliant signing. I've never understood how someone who scores so much when he plays and has a lot of qualities is just not rated.
He would definitely give us a different option, good in the air and for when teams camp out in the box, and target man capable of neat one twos and flicks for firmino, salah and mane could be an answer.

I'd take him, he's used to being sub, and that's what he'd be.

i think we had his type before (Benteke) and that didn't go so well, he's not a KLopp player imo.

Wegot, difference being Giroud actually runs, has better technical ability than he’s given credit for and is always likely to get a goal off the bench. He would be second choice though.

Yeah Wegotosalah, let's redo that experiment again and hopefully, we can get a different outcome.

just a thought. And it would be more to get that extra bit of everything on the pitch when we need it. i know he wouldn't be all that suited to the games we counter with electrifying pace, but more often we actually get the ball back and then have to try break down a sitting defence with short quick passes (or slow laboured on the off days) . Giroud is very good at holding the ball up and laying it off. Is a confident player. Let's remember when arsenal bought lacazette to replace him he was ahead of lacazette in the same French national team Comparing Giroud to Benteke. They are polar opposites. Giroud is proven quality striker who does it almost whenever he gets the chance. Benteke is. well he's Benteke.

I think Giroud would be ideal. He’s great in the air, technically good and links up well with other attackers. He would be a great option to bring on in games like the swansea and West Brom ones. Also his goal scoring record is very good for someone who doesn’t often start and he does have an impact of the bench.

It won’t happen though.

We could do with a defensive midfielder to protect the centre backs, in the mould of a Mascherano or a makelele.

Definitely would like to see Klavan starting instead of Matip as well.

Plausible but I'd guess we want more. Over 20 probably. Rightly in my opinion.

{Ed0333's Note - 20 mill for origi. We talking money or peanut M&M’s? If we get 20 million for origi I’ll be Ed’s 001’s bitch for the season.

It's likely we are done because we've signed almost all we aimed to. Fekir was obviously a target but if the deal wasn't right there was no need to do it and there is certainly no need for us to sign somebody else instead.
His signing would probably have pushed someone out the door anyway. And although he would have been thought of as a sneak improvement. it would more than likely have been lallana or gini. 2 players I myself feel are more than capable and not the end of the world if they are in the team more often now.

I think we need to realise that 15million does not buy you proven quality or even near it. We got 15m for Jordan Ibe and that even before Neymar transfer raised the price of everyone.
I don't get this Ward love, or rather how anyone thinks he is better than migs or karius. Yes he had a decent spell in the championship but he was at at club where he would have been getting praised for making routine saves and errors were overlooked. Whereas our keepers get the opposite.

Exactly KK7. Klopp said they knew the extent of the injury immediately but kept it quiet on Oxs request as to not distract from our end of season. Gutted for the lad. His power in the middle alongside all the talent we now have would have been very exciting. It may be why we pushed for fekir so much and why I'm almost certain that isn't done yet.

Isnt that just common sense. With the money we are spending the structure of payments is probably very important for a deal to go ahead.

Nothing strange about it. He's been linked to big clubs for years and his agent seems to have done a decent job in creating hype and making people think he should be at a big club when truly we know little about him.

Yes he is a major factor but because he has got us to major finals. And into the top 4 again. Players see we are challenging again and that will make them want to come. That and the money we pay them.

No absolutely not. We need to try win everything. You can't aim to just win the Premiership. It is far too difficult to win. Look at how well we done under Rodgers and the number of points we won and still city won more. Even last year. I know the champions league meant we dropped a lot of points at the end of the season we likely wouldn't have. But in the league we did okay but city were just that much better and that far ahead.

You're right about backing Karius but the rest is a bit contradictory.
If the money is there go and spend it, but the player might not want to come. We are not going to go spend massive money if the few targets we want are not interested. Very few top class keepers and a few top teams looking for them. They are also at decent teams to begin with. Oblak for one might have no interest or reason the leave A. Madrid.
