I really do hope these Casillas rumours are untrue. are looking at any goalkeepers?

Walkon79

1.) 26 Oct 2017 20:11:03
Got to give Ward a chance, nothing to lose now .

2.) 26 Oct 2017 20:45:45
If true it only proves Klopp has a blind spot when it comes to Goalkeepers. Porto are doing their best to get rid for good reason.

3.) 26 Oct 2017 21:47:53
What about if it’s not true KloppisaKloon?

4.) 26 Oct 2017 22:32:13
I hope its not. But at Dortmund he stuck with an average GK for years. Would you like Casillas?

5.) 26 Oct 2017 22:52:38
No but I would rather not condemn the manager for a decision that he hasn’t made yet and probably isn’t even going to make.

6.) 27 Oct 2017 00:01:57
Casillas is awful. I bloody hope we aren’t after him.

7.) 27 Oct 2017 05:53:58
I actually don't mind at all bringing in Casillas in January.

Look at Cech -- who is a similar age -- he's been very very good for Arsenal.

Casillas is not only world class, he's one of the best keepers to ever play the game. As a short to intermediate term solution to our woes at the back, I like this move. He could not only shore us up, but also provide some guidance to Ward/ Karius.

It would also allow us to send Mignolet packing, which is long overdue.

{Ed001's Note - for starters Cech has not been that good for Arsenal, he is clearly way below the level he was at and has not really made them any better than they were before he arrived. They would have been better spending the money elsewhere and sticking by Ospina.

Secondly Casillas has never been world class or even near to it. He has always been a very average keeper who had very little to do so he could get away with it. He has a terrible attitude, is a trouble maker and would be an awful signing, even for the bench.

As for getting rid of Mignolet there is nothing to stop that happening anyway.}

8.) 27 Oct 2017 06:32:25
If we're going down this ridiculous route I'd rather have Reina back! Ward needs to be given a chance first.

9.) 27 Oct 2017 06:56:31
Actually we have 3, Bogdan has been registered so he is in the squad as well.

10.) 27 Oct 2017 08:21:07
I am not a Casillas fan at all but the guy is surely worth something considering all his accolades at Real Madrid and Spain.

{Ed001's Note - was it down to him or the rest of the team? Only the one time he was called upon to show what he could do they won nothing because he let simple shots go straight past him.}

11.) 27 Oct 2017 08:44:23
I am not condemning Jurgen Klopp smeg head, at all. It's well known Klopp stuck with weidenfeller despite him being bang average and costing Dortmund simple goals all the time. And he has stuck with Mignolet for over 2 years now.

12.) 27 Oct 2017 14:29:24
Have to agree with ed1. Watching past el classicos recently and some of the goals Casillas concedes are woeful. He looked no better than migs, he Just had the ability to every now and then make a world class save which made him look far better than he was.

13.) 27 Oct 2017 17:10:43
Anyone who thinks Casillas is world class clearly doesn’t watch any football.

14.) 27 Oct 2017 22:22:23
Casillas WORLD CLASS? You are joking right? Bang average keeper and alway has been even in his prime at Madrid. Just WOW.

15.) 28 Oct 2017 22:32:11
A terrible buy. Yes.
Past his prime and poor for the last 6 years. Yes.
Troublemaker. Yes apparently.

But never anywhere near world class? ! that's not even harsh. Its ridiculous.

Won every single thing there was to win at club and national level. multiple times!

In uefa team of the season six years running.

In fifa team of the season five years running.

Voted worlds best goalkeeper five times.

Most clean sheets in champions league history.

Talented enough at only 16 years of age to play in the champions league for one of the biggest clubs in the world and won it outright at 18.
Can you imagine a 16 year old playing in goals for real madrid now? 16?

Made some of the greatest reflex seens at the highest level

Was outstanding, absolutely world class and one of the main reasons madrid won la liga the year under capello.

Never anywhere near world class?
Even a catalan native wouldn't agree with you.

16.) 30 Oct 2017 14:52:29
Won everything you can win with both club and country, he's been voted best GK in the world 3 (? ) times. I am not saying he is as good as Buffon, but bang average is streching it a bit imo.

{Ed001's Note - fair point, he has not been good enough to be called bang average for a long time. I don't care what he has been voted or what he has won. John O'Shea has a list of trophies as long as your arm but he is not good enough to be bang average. As for being voted best keeper, it just shows how much of a joke the award is.}

Hi edd01, just wondering if you know if there are any plans to integrate Adam Lewis into the first team squad any time soon?

Walkon79

{Ed001's Note - not that I am aware of mate.}

1.) 27 Nov 2017 19:58:36
Great player. Gerrard's comments today worried me slightly.

He described Lewis as the most talented player he has ever seen at that age. That sort of comment can go to a players head.

He then went on to say he really wants to keep Lewis in the u18's even though he is good enough for the u23's. That's either more over hyping, or he considers his u18 results to be more important than producing players capable of going up a level.

Leave the fans to jump on the bandwagons! A youth coaches job is to keep these guys grounded.

The whole interview was just a bit weird to be honest. I've been impressed with Gerrard so far in his coaching role but he still suffers from "foot in mouth" syndrome apparently!

2.) 27 Nov 2017 21:36:00
Gerrard have the lad praise based on his performances which I have watched a lot of and agree. Also I think you have misunderstood his comments he clearly means he would love to keep him in his team but feels way he is playing he will likely step up to u23s on merit. If you watch u18s games you can hear and see Gerrard motivating and encouraging the lads non stop. And also on numerous occasions on scoring the lads choose to run over to him, which in my eyes is only a great thing and shows they are a happy tight group. Hope the u18s and u23s keep up great work.

3.) 27 Nov 2017 23:14:22
It’s just a press release it’s funny how he picked to say the scouser who’s been at the club since 6 is the best isn’t surprising. It’s always the young local lad rather than the actual most talented.

4.) 28 Nov 2017 01:53:33
Jezza Kyle, why do you always have to make comments about that? I swear you never have anything positive to say!

5.) 28 Nov 2017 08:19:53
The bigging up of these young players esp. these teenagers needs to stop. It is not helping them. SG is a manager/ coach now, no longer a player. He should learn to measure his words when evaluating players or talking about them.

6.) 28 Nov 2017 09:27:15
And we wonder why young players get to a certain age and fall away unable to handle pressure etc! Yes it's good to protect young players but you do relise in the near future if good enough they would need to step out in front of 53,000 people! Can't believe 1 of our youth coaches are getting stick for praising and in my eyes giving a talented 18 year old confidence were not talking about a 14 year old then I'd fully agree.

seems any game I miss we win. Does any kind soul want to do player ratings please?

Walkon79

1.) 04 Nov 2017 21:05:01
Mingolet: 6
Gomez: 6
Matip: 7
Klavan: 7
Moreno: 7
Can: 7.5
Wiji: 7
Ox: 8
Mane: 8.5
Salah: 9
Firmino: 8.5.

2.) 04 Nov 2017 21:11:24
I'm not as good as ed001 but I'll try:

Mignolet: Tried to taking too much time on the ball and almost gave West Ham a goal in tge first half. Not good enough for Liverpool, end of. 4/ 10

Gomez: Not much to go off really, solid for most of the game, should have done better for the West Ham goal, but he started the move for the 4th goal.7/ 10

Matip: Tap in goal, but he did well to put in the corner. Didn't really put a foot wrong.7/ 10

Klavan: Had nothing to do really. 7/ 10

Moreno: Carried on his good form today, made some positive runs and defended well when required to.8/ 10

Can: Again, made some solid runs and played the holding role well.7/ 10

Wijnaldum: Probably his best away performance, his passing was perfect all game. 8/ 10

Oxlade-Chamberlain: Motm contender. He is so different to the rest of our midfielders, his pace and work ethic is brilliant. Delighted for him to score.9/ 10

Mané: Surprising to see him start, but he was excellent again. He was tiring towards the 70 minute mark, but his two passes to Salah's goals were spot on. 9/ 10

Firmino: Typical Firmino at his best. His runs off the ball were excellent, and he basically started off the move for our first goal. Had a brilliant chance to score but scuffed his shot.8/ 10

Salah: Probably his best performance so far. Two excellent goals. His runs are unreal and he's surprisingly strong.10/ 10.

3.) 04 Nov 2017 21:59:12
A bit harsh giving Mignolet a 4, I agree he’s not good enough but he didn’t do much wrong today, I think you are letting your opinion of him cloud your judgment.

4.) 04 Nov 2017 22:06:47
Good post Jeme, I'm with you especially on Salah, the lad has really hit the ground running (no pun intended) he's incredible.

Ox was again very good, didn't take long for him to settle in, I want to hear from the Ox haters now? I think he fits the system perfectly.

Moreno this season has shocked me, we all wanted rid, he's not perfect we all know that but credit where due, he's had a good season so far and deserves t be starting every game.

5.) 04 Nov 2017 22:46:06
Ox had a good game today and got his goal. But let's not get too carried away with the old i told you so quotes to the people who questioned him or his price tag as it's 1 game and when compared to Salah who actually cost less and plays in the same position as him he's hardly knocking on the door for player of the year just yet.

6.) 04 Nov 2017 23:23:22
Gomez 7? Are you kidding me he was shocking in second half.

7.) 04 Nov 2017 23:44:33
Have to disagree smeg. Sure he didn't have a lot to do but when called upon he showed he's indecisiveness for their goal. Even the Ayew chance highlighted how poor he is at 1on1s. Literally everytime an attacker is 1on1 with Mingolet its a guaranteed goal, he makes it so easy for the attacker.

8.) 04 Nov 2017 23:49:50
Why rate? Nothing to critisise. 3 points. On to the next.

9.) 05 Nov 2017 00:04:47
Thanks Corleone. Looking back on it Smeg Head, I probably was a bit harsh on Mignolet, but I still stand by my opinion that he isn't good enough for us. Mcgoveb I think I'm just being biased mate, me and my brother went out after the game to the buses and Gomez stopped to sign his shirt, so I gave him bonus points for that.

10.) 05 Nov 2017 08:45:55
Jeme, Migs is not good enough and even Klopp knows that and wants rid. He had not much to do and was indecisive on a couple of occasions BUT he did well to tackle Lanzini cleanly and win the ball after Moreno ad stupidly played the ball across the whole back line for no apparent reason. All in all, a good win, 3 points and on to the next game.

11.) 05 Nov 2017 11:57:13
Great stuff, thanks lads.

12.) 05 Nov 2017 13:50:21
Gomez 7? lol. bias rating.

think we've all been banned from posting. Don't blame the edds, can only imagine the doomsday drivel these pages have been bombarded with.

Walkon79

{Ed001's Note - we had a few server issues I think. No idea what it was causing the problems but I gave up and went to bed while it was being fixed.}

19 Sep 2017 22:01:14
Edd01 quick question for ya pal if you don't mind. Do you think klopp has what it takes to be successful and win trophies at Liverpool? I've never doubted the man but I have to admit doubt is starting to creep on now, the goalkeeper rotations is a farce and if you look at our defence, aside from TAA and gomez I don't think any Liverpool supported would be.

Walkon79

{Ed001's Note - the season has barely started give it time. He is competing against 4 teams that have the potential to outspend us any time they want, though Arsenal choose not to. He has to work in the long term, not the short, to succeed. That is why he was willing to wait for a defender until the right one is available, rather than just signing yet another stop gap.}

1.) 20 Sep 2017 04:49:46
There is bound to be a few bumps in the road. If there is one competition you don't mind going out of it's the league cup, a win on Saturday and we'll be back in the top 4.

2.) 20 Sep 2017 09:19:56
Spot on, Ed and Smeg. Klopp is here for the long haul and it may be poison to fans BUT it is what it is. Don't really care for the EFL Cup either as we have bigger fish to fry.

18 Sep 2017 13:10:33
any chance of ward playing tomorrow? Personally can't see him been any worse than migs or karius.

Walkon79

1.) 18 Sep 2017 13:43:16
Karius has been decent mate! He is miles better than Mignolet!

2.) 18 Sep 2017 13:43:27
Migs is the worst of them all. Karius has not been to bad in the two games he's played for us so hopefully, Ward gets a chance tmrw. I do think that this whole rotation thingy is just nonsense. Migs is a known failure so eliminate the first problem by binning him. Then, go from there and evaluate the two young guys who are very talented and have good potential BUT just need experience at the highest level.

3.) 18 Sep 2017 13:53:28
karius hasn't been too bad, just think with this ( silly ) goalkeeper rotation that Ward should be given a chance. Perfect game for him.

4.) 18 Sep 2017 13:59:27
Did no one else about have a heart attack during the Arsenal game watching Karius taking his sweet time on the ball? I think he's better than Migs too, but I'm still not convinced.

5.) 18 Sep 2017 13:59:27

6.) 18 Sep 2017 14:22:14
Yes I did tjred but I thought the cbs were out of order for keep passing back to karius the way they did. Karius is the future but I too would like to see ward. And I think we will in milk cup.

7.) 18 Sep 2017 15:22:32
TJred, if you had a heart attack every time Migs made a mistake or cost us a goal (which is a lot over his LFC career), your heart would be in tatters right now and you'd barely have a pulse. Karius and Ward are better than Migs and Karius not clearing a ball that should never be passed to him in the first place with a striker 10 yards away from him, changes none of that.

we need a goalkeeper and at least 2 centre backs. I fail to see why a goalkeeper moving from Stoke to Liverpool is unrealistic.

butland has come out recently and said of his aspirations to play for a big club. Which is us obviously, as there is no bigger club than us. Would love to see us sign him and Ben Gibson.
