Does anyone know how to cancel an order on E-bay? I put a £5.00 bid on a cowboy outfit and now I am only a couple of hours away from owning Everton!

Believable16 Unbelievable0

{Ed0333's Note - that’s pretty funny chum. In fact it’s a lot funny.

03 Feb 2018 21:03:48
Disgracefully overpriced.

03 Feb 2018 21:09:26
A new era for Arsenal. Looks like they were trying to prove a point re losing Sanchez and Everton felt the brunt.

03 Feb 2018 22:11:40
No matter how talented a player, sometimes teams are better off without egotistical pricks who think everything revolves around them. I think other Arsenal players will step up without the moaning, sulking sod. I still don’t think they’ll make top 4 though, as Wenger is stuck in a time warp.

04 Feb 2018 02:31:53
Arsenal look very dangerous attacking And awful defensively, reminds me of another team I know.
Also I'd point out with Ramsey in the side they look differently gravy. Don't rate all them Ewobi's and Elenis or whoever they are when he's injured.

04 Feb 2018 04:29:56
One good game and it's a new era? Arsenal is classically inconsistent, capable of thrashing Everton and then losing to just about the following week. I can't see that changing until they resolve the Wenger situation.

04 Feb 2018 05:09:10
Lets not forget that Everton were awful, let's wait and see how Arsenal play against Spurs next week - having said that i still think they've improved.

03 Feb 2018 18:03:47
With these results today, tomorrow is a must win for us. Who else thinks we will win tomorrow? I certainly do, it won't be an easy game, no games are easy but I think we can do it, we need to show how capable we are and by winning tomorrow it'd show exactly that, let's keep chasing that second spot because it is more then doable.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

03 Feb 2018 18:33:43
Tomorrow isn’t a must win, United and Arsenal were expected to win their games today and they have done so. Spurs is one of our hardest games left, even if we lose there are still 12 games to play, the only thing that matters is our position after 38 games.

03 Feb 2018 18:52:01
I think the fact that Spurs have already had such a hard game against United midweek will have an impact. Add to that, like against City that we owe them one after our match against them earlier in the season hopefully bodes well for us. I don't think Spurs have a great record at Anfield, i could be wrong tho.

03 Feb 2018 19:03:17
I think that Spurs are very much better at home, and that they are set up a bit more different away,
so I am giving us a great chance to get the 3 points, and set us up for a good run .

03 Feb 2018 19:50:37
Kane, Ericsson, Son and Deli are playing really well at the moment, we’re going to have to be top of our game tomorrow.

{Ed0333's Note - we got this buddy

03 Feb 2018 20:27:41
Yeah we’ll win tomorrow, Mane hat-trick 🤝.

{Ed0333's Note - I hope so Ron I think we’d all like Mane back to his blistering best.

03 Feb 2018 21:05:30
I think it's one of those games you make sure you don't lose. They have Arsenal next one of them will drift.

04 Feb 2018 02:12:40
It may not be a “must win” but it is certainly a “must not lose” even this “early” in the season we cannot afford to lose to spurs and let them get ahead of us. A draw is acceptable, a win is preferable and a defeat would be disappointing and potentially damaging to our top 4 hopes. We need to keep it in our own hands to keep the pressure off and keep it on spurs.

04 Feb 2018 02:14:19
The only positive is Aderweirld is not playing. But it is offset by Lovren and Matip playing. VVD is too unmatch fit to play.

04 Feb 2018 02:53:56
Maybe we lose and then go undefeated rest of the season?
Anywho, we do need to win lol.

03 Feb 2018 17:57:34
Really hope VVD starts tomorrow. Couldn't deal with kane scaring the life out of Lovren again.

Believable4 Unbelievable4

{Ed0333's Note - I’m pretty sure Lovren was beset by personal woes at the time, suffering from a lack of confidence and possibly slightly injured when he came up against Kane at Wembley. I’m pretty sure Lovren won’t be ruined in the same way as he was earlier in the season. I hope not anyway.

03 Feb 2018 18:21:24
I'd sooner have Lovren partner VVD than Matip.

03 Feb 2018 18:38:23
I want lovren to start this game for the exact reason the original poster mentioned. Lovren will dominate Kane tomorrow and vvd will mop up the pieces.

03 Feb 2018 18:45:17
Absolutely take livren or klavan over matip. Both of those 2 seem to have the kind of personality that lifts their game around a strong CB partner. Whereas matip seema to become even more casual and laboured than he already is!

03 Feb 2018 18:27:14
It was unfair to play him at that time ed0333. I think he has been good since.

VVD and Lovren could form a solid partnership, I hope they get a run of games together. Klopp needs to settle on his first choice back 4 and karius and play them every game.

{Ed0333's Note - I agree from now till the end of the season we need to play a settled side

04 Feb 2018 02:14:48
Why the new love for Lovren?

He was almost hated by many on here.

Shows exactly what is wrong with a modern football fan.

04 Feb 2018 02:56:44
Cos lovren has a credible partner that can bring the best out of him.

04 Feb 2018 09:35:41
I’m still 100% behind replacing Lovren but he is better than Matip, in all honesty I’d rather play Klavan over them both!

03 Feb 2018 16:16:56
Great result for Burnley slowing the Man City juggernaut and giving others hope.
Credit to Dyche he’s looking a very good manager without the budget of the bigger clubs, one of the very few clubs to take points off City.
Let’s get 3 points tomorrow and close the gap, maybe City will have a wobble, sport can cruel remember Devon Loch.

Hopefully Everton can do us a favour tonight as well.

03 Feb 2018 17:57:46
Or maybe not 🙈.

03 Feb 2018 18:35:41
its been said before, Everton never do us any favours .

03 Feb 2018 18:55:32
Does not charity first begin at home lol.

04 Feb 2018 12:51:09
If you want to get a job done, do it yourself and stop asking favors from Everton or Watford!

03 Feb 2018 13:25:06
Eds and reds who will be or is better Kante or Keita.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

03 Feb 2018 14:59:15
Kante by a long way.

03 Feb 2018 15:00:07
At What? Different players.

Ones a better passer and ones a better tackler.

03 Feb 2018 15:23:04
The two are entirely different types of player.

03 Feb 2018 15:50:50
They play the same position with totally different styles.

Kante is a ball winner with a hugely under rated passing range who is great at running with the ball. His finishing is atrocious though.

Keita is rash in the tackle, but has an equally good passing range, and is just as good at dribbling. He is a much better finisher though.

They're actually not that different in their style of play aside from their mentalities. Kante is very defensively minded and always looking to stop the opposition breaking; more of a ball winner. Meanwhile Keita has a burning desire to get into goal scoring positions, and is a good goal scorer because of that. Both play box to box midfield roles, but they have very different attitudes to the game.

I'll have to say Kante is better based on what I've seen of them both though. He is 4 years older though.

03 Feb 2018 15:59:11
Let’s wait and see how Keita copes in PL, unknown quantity over here at the moment. Kanye has proven he’s a top player Keita needs to come and do the same.

03 Feb 2018 16:10:33
Kanye’s a bit more of a gold digger type though, all about the money. He’s got potential though, if he gets his head down he could touch the sky.

03 Feb 2018 16:16:26
Kanye 😂

My first line was supposed to say "totally different mentalities". Their style is very similar.

03 Feb 2018 16:22:03
Not very similar styles, both are midfielders, black and although slight In stature are quite str By. Apparently this seems to be enough to draw this obscene comparison (it’s not just you it seems to be a popular thing)

03 Feb 2018 16:39:51
I disagree Barnes. They're stature is nothing alike. Kante is about 2 inches shorter and quite stocky, whereas Keita is actually pretty gangly. Kante has a low centre of gravity which makes him strong on the ball, whereas Keita's aggression is what makes him strong. He hits people at speed which is why he is so rash. If he mistimes the tackle he is hurtling too quickly to avoid clattering people. Kante tends to get himself in between the opposition and the ball in a fair more composed way.

Both players chase the ball down all over the pitch though, both like getting stuck in (albeit with diffent approaches), both like to run at the opposition and beat players, and both like to play through or over the top balls in behind. The only style difference I see is that Keita has poor tackling technique, and Kante has poor striking technique.

The main difference in them as players is that Keita will get to the final third and his attack minded approach means he tries to get into the box. However Kante's defence minded approach see's him sit just outside the box waiting to snap into a tackle if the opposition break.

Physical appearance doesn't come into it. They are different heights, different builds, and don't even look like each other 😂 they're just both high energy box to box midfielders who are great on the ball.

03 Feb 2018 17:07:27
Kante is better but Keita has the potential to be even better.

{Ed0333's Note - That’s a very powerful statement Vakpa, some would say delusional. What do you base that on?

03 Feb 2018 18:00:36
Like comparing Harry Kane and Kacey Keller.

03 Feb 2018 18:37:33
I agree with that VakPa although better than Kante and you would have to be world class. Keita will get assists and goals and carry the ball forward better than Kante. Whether he can get close to kante's ball winning ability and positional play are the big questions for me.

I think he might well get sent off a few times while he adapts his game to the pace of the premier league. At 22 we should all hope he will be as good as Kante with some added end product.

03 Feb 2018 20:09:11
Keita is far superior and 5 years younger than Kante.

03 Feb 2018 12:39:53
A daft question probably but why do clubs sign players on for x amout of years surely you should sing a player to let's say 35 or a retirement age suited to the position it would make players consider a move more serious.

Believable0 Unbelievable8

03 Feb 2018 13:12:02
What if they turn out pony and the club want rid? What if clubs change manager and he doesn’t fancy him? Quite a lot to payout to get shot of him then isn’t it.

03 Feb 2018 13:49:46
That just sounds like slavery with extra steps.

03 Feb 2018 15:01:11
It's for club protection. Imagine if we still had another 4 or 5 years on studge. We could neve4 sell him.

But we also could of signed cou to an 8 year deal, and just never really had to sell him.

03 Feb 2018 15:37:13
Nice Rick and Morty quote Adam!

Question to the eds, is there actually a limit on the length of contract that can be offered to a player? Football manager tells me its 5 years, but I'm sure there's been examples of longer contacts signed.

Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - 5 years is the maximum, but they often include an option for an extra year which make it a 6.}

03 Feb 2018 15:55:09

03 Feb 2018 06:50:36
Hi Edd002, love your somewhat strange sarcastic sense of humour makes me smile (sometimes 😊) question for you as I'm not that great at understanding the business side of football teams! Theoretically with clubs valued at 500-600 million or so what is there to stop the owners who have let's say at Liverpool 5-6 players worth 100 million or so and probably 10 or so players worth 50 million or so just basically selling off all the players and asset stripping the club and in essence getting much more for their money? Sorry if it's a silly question but it's just thought about even more recently with such high transfer fees?

Believable3 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - I rather think you are over valuing the Liverpool players.}

03 Feb 2018 11:04:42
not even Man City have a squad that valuable.

03 Feb 2018 11:15:30
Nescafe where do you get this from? 5-6 players £100m+ no side in world football has that. We have 1 or 2.

03 Feb 2018 11:59:40
I think his question was hypothetical.
Say the clubs players have a market value of £500m but the clubs been valued at £400m could the owners just sell the playing staff and make more money than if they where to sell the club as a whole?
I think if a club had playing staff worth more than £500m though that the club would be worth more than £500m.

{Ed002's Note - And money owed on the players would need to be paid off etc.}

03 Feb 2018 12:21:06
GOLD B. Although your example of clubs owning 5-6 high value players is a bit out, your question is still valid.

ED, is there anything stopping owners asset stripping a football club, including selling players? As far as I’m aware there isn’t.

I know of some non-league teams have been bought and asset stripped for their land. Some councils have stopped it and others don’t which is mad.

03 Feb 2018 17:26:39
Take your point edd about me over valuing the players slightly but with reference to money owed on players having been purchased surely large amounts are owed also to the owners ref coutinio and other transfers? Also is the ground not a pretty hefty asset? I am not suggesting that they should do it for a minute but it just seems to me the clubs are valued lower than their assets which doesn’t happen in other businesses! On a slightly different note are owners not tempted to sell up now with the prices of players etc surely going to top out sometime soon as all of this money in the game is surely not substanable?

{Ed002's Note - if the debts to the owners would be paid off you are simply suggesting they take their own money back. The rest would be taxable. The club are certainly not valued less than their assets. Players are intangible assets. I rather suspect you are missing what the value of the club relates to.}

03 Feb 2018 09:07:19
Seen an article from xabi Alonso saying how easy it would be to play with our current front three. Imagine having Gerrard Alonso and mascherano behind salah firmino mane I think you couldn't have a better 6 than them.

Believable15 Unbelievable1

03 Feb 2018 09:12:24
They would be unplayable. It would fantastic to watch.

03 Feb 2018 10:21:03
they would have barcelona parking the bus!

03 Feb 2018 10:25:58
And behind them, John Arne, Carra, Agger and Johnson (in his prime) .

03 Feb 2018 11:03:29
Johnson? You’re having a laugh. Finnan all day long over Johnson.

03 Feb 2018 11:34:42
Johnson was never in his prime. He was someone with all the ability and talent but zero application of it. He did not care one iota. He could have been quality with the right attitude.

03 Feb 2018 11:35:45
Johnson not in a million years mate.

03 Feb 2018 12:00:12
Um . Hyppia anyone?

03 Feb 2018 12:03:46
Finnan over Johnson and hyypia over Agger for me.

03 Feb 2018 12:04:49
With Reina in nets 😍.

03 Feb 2018 20:21:18
Now THAT'S a line-up to wet your panties over.

03 Feb 2018 06:57:40
A question for Ed01 if you have time,

Just to satisfy my curiosity, can I ask if there was interest from any other clubs in Henderson prior and after joining us? I'm asking because I had made a wager with a mate of mine that Hendo would be of interest to the Spanish giants 5 years after joining us (which of course I lost! )

Any info would be much appreciated!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - yes, he had rejected Man Utd prior to joining us.}

03 Feb 2018 07:14:50
Thanks for the reply Ed, much appreciated.

{Ed001's Note - you are very welcome.}

03 Feb 2018 08:03:52
Fulham also wanted him to. Hendo flat out refused to leave though. He wanted to prove himself.

I'm sure Spurs/ Pochettino were interested at one point too, but that was never confirmed to my knowledge.

03 Feb 2018 08:34:22
Wasn't it a case tho mk that Brendan wanted to throw him in for part of the deal with Clint Dempsey. I may be completely wrong tho.
I'm glad he our player still. Great player in my eyes.

03 Feb 2018 09:42:25
I remember PSG linked with him in 2016.

I can't believe so many people wanted us to sign Mahrez, his attitude is as bad as Coutinhos was, if not worse. He's not trained for 4 days because he has spat his dummy out due to not signing for City lol, pathetic, thank god we didn't get him.

This is a big problem in football in my opinion, these players get ahead of themselves and think they can do what they want.

Puel saying 'I hope Riyad can clear his head and come back with us as he is a valuable player for us and crucial in our play' - it's a joke, clubs need to have more discipline in cases like this. Again, thankfully we didn't get him.

Believable7 Unbelievable10

03 Feb 2018 04:18:38
Probably what coutinho would have done.

{Ed001's Note - van Dijk certainly did, which is why he is struggling for fitness now.}

03 Feb 2018 04:23:24
Agreed Salah but it depends what the club has told him about leaving before- he seems to think they’ve told him a few times they will let him go. If that’s the case I’d be annoyed if they kept moving the goal posts.

03 Feb 2018 05:18:09
It works both ways though. Not saying Mahrez is right here, but it is frankly quite ridiculous that Leicester has been keeping Mahrez for more than a year now despite his wishes to leave. Not only that, but the price being quoted is getting higher and higher with each transfer window! Imagine how would you feel if you were Mahrez in this position!

{Ed001's Note - funny no one said that about Coutinho.}

03 Feb 2018 05:32:29
Like us they had a price and that’s it. The fact that no one wants to pay it shows what the market thinks he’s worth. Am glad we didn’t sign him because he’s simply not good enough. Fekir or Lemar are far better alternatives.

03 Feb 2018 05:40:01
Ed01, actually I'm with you in that I wanted Coutinho gone last summer after all his antics. The way he went about leaving left a sour taste in my mouth, but I completely understand why players have to resort to doing so when clubs are being difficult. Respect is a two way street, and if a player doesn't want to be here, thank him for his services, wish him all the best and send him on his way in an amicable way.

Speaking of transfers, I frankly do not like the fact that the club is treating players as 'assets' now. We could've flogged off Markovic to several clubs but our asking price was too much. What's the point of keeping here if we are not going to play him? Just accept the loss and allow him to rebuild his career!

{Ed001's Note - in the past players never had any say in transfers, now they control them, there needs to be a middle ground.

As for treating players as 'assets' now, they always treated them that way. We are just showing that we still do not understand the transfer market with our ridiculous over valuation of a player who has flopped miserably for us. He is injury prone as well as not showing anything to suggest he is a particularly good player. Should have just got rid.}

03 Feb 2018 08:24:26
Do you mean like Mane did at Southampton?

03 Feb 2018 17:35:40
I think that Mahrez would have been a good signing for us, but the problem being the fee, think that 85 million was mentioned, way too much .

04 Feb 2018 02:11:45
Faithinworks, why would couthinho have done that? If Suarez would of left in the January you would of said the same about him and Suarezs behaviour was totally the opposite of the way mahrez has behaved. Most players are in it for the money and the glamour with zero loyalty to the fans of the club they leave behind but to say couthinho would of gone on strike and told the club he'll never play or train for them again is plain wrong imo. I believe if he'd of been told he's here until the summer he would of knuckled down and got on with it possibly the only reason being its world cup year, but nonetheless he'd of played to his maximum. The reason he's gone now had nothing to do with his work ethic at the club it's because the owners were told "we won't be back in the summer, it's now or never" and they saw there van dijk and keita money with a bit of profit in danger of going up in smoke, so didn't care what impact that would have on the team and results. They want results on the pitch to maximise profit, but not at all costs but on a budget, hence the short term gain with the couthinho transfer rather than think of the long term prospects of the team, as I believe that decision has cost the club a place in next seasons champions league.
