Hi Eds, sorry if this is old news, but I was wondering if any club came in for Flanagan? I know you were all pretty sure his time was done, but is there any firm interest?

{Ed002's Note - Nope.}

1.) 05 Jul 2017 23:25:03
Thanks for the response.

{Ed002's Note - A decision will need to be made whilst the transfer window is open.}

2.) 06 Jul 2017 12:03:18
We should try him out in place of Clyne during pre-season to see if he can replace him. If not, then he should be sold. Be nice to see an academy product in the team.

3.) 06 Jul 2017 12:14:53
johnny i think we will have TAA as the rotationplayer for clyne/ milner.

Flanagan looked promising a few years back but injurys set him back a few times and i don't think he will be even second choice anymore.

On todays market we could get around 5-7 mio for him and if we get an offer we should take it.

4.) 06 Jul 2017 13:40:52
Flano is not a crosser of the ball and this is what Klopp needs in the modern wingback. I'm afraid his time is up. Unless he wants to keep him as backup which is doubtful, since we already have a much more capable and promising youngster in place.

16 Mar 2017 14:15:51
Some online sources and italian sources (tuttomercatoweb) recirculating rumours that Klopp has "identified" Mahrez as his #1 target for the summer. Is there any credibility to this? Last year the man looked amazing, this year he has looked lost at times and is, apparently, one of the names behind the ousting of Ranieri. Even if it is true, is he even someone we want at the club?

{Ed002's Note - Juventus has a declared interest in Riyad Mahrez but I am not aware of Liverpool showing any interest - and again it makes no sense unless Mane is leaving. Efforts I am aware of relate to left wingers where the club is seen as short.}

1.) 16 Mar 2017 17:41:49
Thanks for the response Ed.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

2.) 17 Mar 2017 06:29:39
Is Ojo seen as an option across other positions rather than on the left or is he not considered good enough? Sorry just the age of some of the names floating around isn't much more than him so seems odd.

{Ed002's Note - I don't know if Klopp doesn't think he is ready but he has chosen not to use him. He can also play on the right.}

3.) 17 Mar 2017 21:11:12
Mahrez might be worth a shout but only as long as his head is in the right place. Set pieces would benefit so much and he'd link up well with Bobby and Adam.

Think Couts main position will be in midfield should Mahrez come, and Mané move to the left.

So Yan Dhanda has agreed terms to a Swansea move. I seem to remember him being highly thought of at one point. Is this a case of wanting too much too soon, or genuinely career would have stalled had he stayed?

1.) 08 Jun 2018 18:46:27
Given the quality we already had in our squad and the players we've added and look like adding. Any of our youth midfield would need to be very special to get in the match squad never mind first 11.

2.) 08 Jun 2018 22:39:39
Moving to Swansea and their new manager will be great for Dhandas career. Graham Potter got mediocre outcast players from mediocre swedish teams ripping Arsenal to shreds at their place. He'll get Dhanda as far as possible. Good for us to let him leave on good terms, should he turn out to be the real deal.

30 Apr 2018 23:57:58
What is this I am reading about Salah facing a potential ban for swinging at Bruno Martins Indi? I must have missed that incident. Anyone see anything similar?

{Ed0333's Note - much ado about nothing mate

1.) 01 May 2018 01:12:27
Not being pursued by the authorities. clarified tonight.

2.) 01 May 2018 02:26:24
Fair enough then, thanks for the reply Ed.

3.) 01 May 2018 23:41:26
All media hype Adz. Same as when Mane should’ve had a penalty and a free kick but the media whipped up a frenzy making out he should’ve been sent off rather than pointing the finger at the ref for two ridiculous decisions.

06 Jan 2018 09:39:04
Frequently we are told that we need to take our red-tinted glasses off. We look on our own players and the clubb as faultless and attribute all the blame elsewhere. I am as guilty of this as anyone. However, I have viewed the Holgate incident countless times now to try and understand the referees decision, and I am sorry ED025 that should have been a straight red card.
I am a grade 6 referee in the USA, so I have a lot of experience in refereeing games - I understand how some incidents blur the line or happen so quickly it is impossible to catch them with the naked eye. However, this is not the case here. Holgate shoved an opposing player into the fans, after the ball was out of play. Under Law 12 of the FIF A and Fa rules that constitutes Excessive Force and is a sending off offense. That it occurred after the ball was out of play, so is therefore not a challenge, constitutes violent conduct, and seeing as the action could have brought injury it is a sending off offense.

I don't know what Firmino said, bring in the lip reading experts on that one, because a lot of people have their theories. If he said something racist he should be justifiably punished. I am not on the punish Holgate for playing the race card bandwagon. From his reaction he clearly, correctly or not, thought something had been said. But his actions correctly or incorrectly motivated by what Firmino said have to be judged in the moment, and according to the laws of the game he should have been sent off. That he did not even get a caution is frankly ridiculous.

{Ed025's Note - you make a good case Adz and if he had been sent off then who could complain, the ref made an on the spot decision and for me it was a yellow but im no expert mate..

1.) 06 Jan 2018 10:05:19
Holgate could have caused a serious injury to firmino, the referee had no control, Everton should have been down to 9 men in my opinion.

2.) 06 Jan 2018 10:29:01
Holgate could not only have caused injury to Firmino but also to people sat in the stands. He knew full well what he was doing.

{Ed025's Note - your right Mr D...a supporter could have been eating a prawn sandwich and a stray crustacean could have flew out of his mouth and blinded someone, maybe an over sharp dorito could have cut someone to ribbons or a loose scarf strangled a supporter in the ensuing melee?....have a day off mate..

3.) 06 Jan 2018 10:43:24
The game reminded me of the Spain vs Portugal World Cup game from a few years ago where Portugal's only tactic was to try and kick Spain off the field.

Rooney should have gone for mowing down Matip and Gomez in quick succession and Holgate should have been given two yellows (one for the push, one for forceably grabbing the ref) .

On a separate note, the ref clearly lost control of the game the moment he failed to punish that first Rooney challenge. And that was never a pen. It was almost as soft as the Lovren non challenge from the other game.

{Ed025's Note - if you write down your knowledge of football on the back of a stamp we can post it on here for you nick, if thats your assessment of the game..

4.) 06 Jan 2018 10:47:56
Ed25 i will put this towards you as youve been more imvolved with these posts on here since it happened .

When all is said and done both players and club will be punished. Holgate is a young lad and his temperament is of that, that's not excusing what he did but football has gone slightly soft (well more than slightly actually) . his push in today's terms could warrant a red (dangerous play using excessive force and trying to hurt a player) but a yellow is sufficient for me. his reaction to what's said is of more concern whether it is to a racial slur or not he can't react like that he man handled the ref along the way again which you can't do. heat of the moment and getting caught up in the occasion for me . But these pen pushers at the FA will use this incident to get some air time I think.

Great result for the reds though . Bring on the city Sunday now.

{Ed025's Note - i think we all know my feelings on the matter jimmy, i dont see anything sinister and think a line should be drawn under it and lets just move on mate..

5.) 06 Jan 2018 11:00:40
Ed025, you also forgot many fans could have been blinded with such close exposure to Bobbys ultra bright teeth :)

{Ed025's Note - another relevant fact in the prosecutions case Kd..well done mate..

6.) 06 Jan 2018 11:12:14
I wouldn't fill a stamp Ed. In all honesty though I do think Rooney was overzealous trying to leave something on Matip early on and I think if the ref had nipped it in the bud there and then the rest of the handbags could have been avoided. Funnily enough, when Everton started to play football in the second half they scored a goal (whether deserved or not is an entirely different matter) .

If I write really clearly would that fill that stamp?

{Ed025's Note - just about nick, derby,s have never been any different mate and i can remember stevie g putting in some very rash challenges in his time, nice to see you took my comments in the light hearted way they were meant mate..kudos..

7.) 06 Jan 2018 11:14:43
You’ve got extremely good eye sight Ed25! Prawn sandwich? I didn’t spot the United fan in the crowd 😜.

{Ed025's Note - that brigade frequent more grounds than just old trafford drogie mate..

8.) 06 Jan 2018 12:04:13
Thanks Ed, there's more to life than football. Never been one to fall out with people over it. You always show your face on here and give a fair assessment of what you see.

I just wanted to add my two cents worth.

And yes, Stevie G was often rash (I think he holds the record for fastest sending off in pl history) .

{Ed025's Note - fair play nick mate..

9.) 06 Jan 2018 13:13:33
Haha. True story Ed25.

03 Jun 2017 23:22:19
I'll be honest, I am disappointed that we missed out on VVD. However, if the 60m 200k per week figures are correct, I think we dodged a big pony tailed bullett. We can honestly spend that money better elsewhere.

1.) 03 Jun 2017 23:48:09
When we draw a blank against City because they have a good defence and they spank us for 3 or 4 goals because we have to rely on the likes of Klavan, Lovren and Clyne just remember your own comment.

2.) 04 Jun 2017 00:23:29
Hes top quality. Just too many question marks to throw that at him

Players like salah and mendy couldn't of really had better seasons to give us just for signing them.

3.) 04 Jun 2017 00:24:26
Plus he's not come back from a serious injury yet.
We can't afford to make that gamble IMO.

4.) 04 Jun 2017 00:25:15
The money is insane but clearly we wanted him and chased him as Klopp wanted the player. Why waste the time, effort and resources going after a player if you cannot afford to compete with your competitors.

5.) 04 Jun 2017 01:10:05
Frankly. those players played this season and we didn't get spanked by a competitor.

not suggesting we don't need to improve but come on.

6.) 04 Jun 2017 01:33:21
Have i missed something.? Why is every1 saying the move to city is done now.?

7.) 04 Jun 2017 07:40:22
The Mirror - must be true then 🤔.

10 Apr 2016 16:11:43
Wonder how many people will change their tune about Moreno after that?

1.) 10 Apr 2016 16:34:33
Ojo looking good too.

2.) 10 Apr 2016 16:41:23
Nobody hopefully. He's tried it at least 250 times already and failed so its about time he scored one.

3.) 10 Apr 2016 16:43:39
Considering he's been all over the place positionally, has given the ball away several times and hasn't stopped Shaqiri so much as once, I won't be in a hurry to change my tune on him.

He's got ability, Moreno, but no brains to back it up. Would be potentially be one of the best left backs in Europe if he did.

4.) 10 Apr 2016 18:16:23
Scores after 64 games without a goal. Hmmm, he needs to do a bit more to change opinions.

5.) 10 Apr 2016 18:57:55
Doesn't matter who comments what, the disagrees are flying in 😂.

Current trending on social media says that it is Man Utd. One "journalist" went so far as to say that he had already signed. MUFC account says that Mourinho is interested but reports of an agreement are not true.

Honestly, I would not mind Ben Gibson. I think he has a big future ahead of him if given the chance at a club to step up to the next level. I agree on Keane though. However, if Van Dijk was now to hand in a transfer request, I think we have to buy him, if Southampton will accept the offer. Otherwise our credibility, which is already rock bottom, is nothing.

So who do we loan him out to then? Another Premier League team, thus bolstering their capabilities, whilst diminishing our squad? Or a foreign team, so that the experience he gets has no real benefit to him for playing in the premier league? He is best to stay with us, train with us, win his place in the team. If he can't, then we should move him on. Klopp has preferred him over Sturridge for a lot of this season, even when Sturridge was fit. I think he can grow to become a really useful player for us, but it needs to be with us, week in week out. Loan is pointless now.

Seriously Harry, one person mentions that it might be a financial thing and you jump on that bandwagon. What more do FSG have to do to show you that they are willing to pay? With the figures being quoted, I would hope that they are really sure of their investment. Of doctors are raising questions over the knee or whatever their concern is, then maybe, just maybe FSG are justified in not pulling the trigger on the deal.

That being said. Ed02 just says that the negotiations are ongoing. So how about we just wait and see before we slag anyone off huh?

Whether hardly any stay on the line or not is irrelevant. It is against the rules. If the ref sees it and cards it, he is absolutely right to do it.

That would be the same as saying, lots of people dive in the box, so we should not punish it if it is caught.

It is frustrating, I agree, and we had the same in the League Cup final last year against City when Caballero was constantly off his line - I railed against it then because he should have been stopped by the ref.

But to say it was a bad decision is simply wrong.

Which game are you talking about? You know that coming off the line is a foul committed by the GK right? If he is persistently doing it, then the ref is fully within his rights to issue a card for consistent, deliberate infringement.
