Eds, the BBC are reporting a 12 million fee is agreed. However, I don't want to discuss figures. My question is, is Suso part of this deal? AND if so, is it a loan or permanent move?

DanTD

{Ed001's Note - I don't know yet mate sorry.}

1.) Hopfully suso stays! I see big things from him.

2.) I really hope Suso doesn't go he's a great player and a nice fella.

3.) The deal does not involve any player its straight cash.

4.) Its also states he will will be joining fellow Spain u21 Suso, seems like his staying

5.) Ed I'm interested to know, again without figures, we've been told on here LFC knew the price to get Moreno, that we've tried to include things like Suso or instalments, incentives etc

Just interested, is the deal that's being reported the same one Sevilla been asking for all along? Just cause £12m sounds like Ayre has negotiated a deal lower then was expected.

Have we waited all summer for £12m? For the no1 target? Surely it wasn't as easy as this was it? Where's the £20m plus price gone?

{Ed002's Note - I have spent most of the day stuck in Spanish airport lounges and have just got back. I am not aware of what the final deal is.}

Ed001, the reported interest in Javier Manquillo (a RB) might indicate that someone (perhaps QPR?) have stepped up their interest in Johnson do you know if this is the case?

(I know he's available just wondering if you know whether a move is on the horizon?)

DanTD

{Ed001's Note - it was on hold until they sorted the Caulker and Rio moves, so it is perfectly possible they will finish the deal quickly now. The main sticking point was wages, but they were holding out a long deal for him, which should be enough to clinch it. If we hadn't qualified for the Champions League, I expect it would already be done. It is in his hands now though.}

1.) 22 Jul 2014 20:27:08
Hmmm interesting. I hadn't even considered GJ to depart this summer. I thought he was here for at least one more season. Makes a little sense now. Les see what develops.

2.) Didn't see this one coming though, I always preferred Johnson at lb, it was like he had to concentrate more which I think helped his game! do you think this will mean flano as 1st choice rb, I hope so the lad deserves a chance at it, I see wisdom has joined the bags on loan do you see this new lad as his replacement in the squad?

3.) I think this is a brilliant move by the club.

Johnson is clearly past his best and whilst he has been great for the club keeping Flanno out of the team to appease him would just be unfair.

After Flanno's performances last year he deserves to be one of the first names on the team sheet.

This new guy (if he comes) will provide a youthful energetic competition to Flanno.

Whilst Wisdom clearly has potential but needs to be playing every week to gain confidence and experience!

If this new guy doesn't work out then either Wisdom will come back a much better player or we can look again next summer.

I am really impressed by the club's dealings this window. Very impressive, and very clever, planning for the future whilst not leaving the squad thin on experience.

4.) All over twitter (I know!) but sounds like this is definately possible. Loan move for Micah Richards also on the cards as clubs put off by citahs valuation

5.) Thanks a lot Ed001. People always get caught up in who's on their way in and not who's on their way out! Keep up the excellent work.

6.) I don't see how this can happen. Why would we be downgrading our defense?

7.) I don't see this as a down grade flanno is by far the better Rb so having Johnson on the bench with his big wages makes no sense and from what I've seen and heard this kid has got a bright future ahead of him

8.) It would appear my prayers have finally been granted! I really am not one for slagging off Liverpool players but I really can't stand Glen Johnson! I have been saying for the best part of 3 years that he isn't good enough and it would appear (if this is true) that BR thinks the same.
I used to really like him, we all accepted that he wasn't great at defending but he was brilliant at attacking. But over the last two / two and a half years even that side of his game has deserted him. He has become lazy at defending and lazy in possession, how many times do you see him just aimlessly cross the ball into the box or play a panicked pass straight to the opposition, jog back if we've lost possession rather than bust a gut or sluggishly attempt to close down a cross.
A lot of criticism has been aimed at Skrtel over the years (even last year despite having a brilliant season) and now Agger, but I really do believe they are good enough and that having a RB and LB with better attitudes and work-rates and concentration levels than Johnson and Enrique will greatly improve our solidarity at the back. I like the looks of a back four of Flanno, Skrtel, Agger, Moreno.

Eds, I've heard Thorgan Hazard has more potential than his older brother but needs better management than he's getting at the moment and he'll struggle to get into the Chelsea any time soon (with his older brother and Salah in particular ahead of him). What is his future and is there any chance of a bid from Liverpool? He would seem a perfect fit, young with resale value and plays the positions we are looking to strengthen.

DanTD

{Ed002's Note - He will return to Chelsea in the summer and there is a plan to loan him out to an EPL side next season. He is not going to be sold.}

Ed001, I was just reading an interview with Moreno and it was interesting to hear his thoughts on the season gone by, he talks about his change in attitude and how he is now trying to focus on when to attack rather than to always attack.

Anyway, my question is how do you rate Moreno's performances this season? Do you still see left back as a "priority position"? How do you think he has improved?

DanTD

{Ed001's Note - he is much improved, though he still has a lot to work on, such as not lunging in recklessly. He has done enough to ensure left back is no longer a priority and shown he is listening and improving. However he does need to improve a lot more before I would be happy with that position for the long term.

I have noticed a marked improvement in his decision making, he does show more thought with his runs, being more of a support attacker most of the time. In the last game he was more attacking in the first half when played at wing back, then sat back for the second half until Milner came on and then he did go forward when Milner dropped in to cover. He is playing like he is thinking about what he is doing, rather than just charging forward mindlessly.}

It’s nice to see a player buckle down, not complain when he’s not playing and get his just rewards in the end. Fair played to the lad I thought his Liverpool career was over in the summer but he’s proved a lot of people wrong.

2.) 17 Nov 2017 00:25:13
Good assessment there ed001. I’m all for someone that keeps their head down and works hard to improve, instead of just leaving when the going gets tough. Much more deserving of the shirt imo.

{Ed001's Note - thank you and I totally agree, a good attitude can make a lot of difference in the long term.}

3.) 17 Nov 2017 05:04:25
Klopp effect you tthink ed1?

{Ed001's Note - to a degree, though it is much down to the lad himself.}

17 Aug 2017 21:50:06
Ed001, with Howedes rumours doing the rounds i just wanted to ask whether you have seen a lot of him? If so, do you believe he would a good acquisition and improve our defence as a whole?

DanTD

{Ed001's Note - I have not seen much of him in a couple of years, but my impression of him was never particularly good. Always seemed a very similar player to Klavan to me, decent enough defender until he had to face pace, then he was torn to pieces. No idea how he has improved with experience since then though. He might have learnt to deal with it better.}

1.) 18 Aug 2017 06:16:00
Can't understand why we aren't in for Wesley hoedt plays very similar to vvd and sure we could pick him up for around 15 mil. Saints will probably buy him then sell him next year for 14 trillion. I think we must have Greek scouts at the club.

2.) 18 Aug 2017 08:50:42
Wesley Hoedt isn't similar to Van Dijk at all, other than they are both Dutch. He is poor in the air and physically isn't that strong.

A question for Ed002, hope we've been well enough behaved for this one Ed! I'm just wondering what are the deciding factors in a club being able to spend top dollar in terms of transfer fees but limited in terms of wages?

I'll use West Ham as an example, in the summer they bid a not insignificant amount for Lacazette but I remember you stating that they were banking on reasonable wage demands. Why was this the case? Why could they bid so much for the player but not afford the wages?

Just interested Ed! Thanks.

DanTD

{Ed002's Note - There is a need to balance expenditure and wages in terms of FFP. You can get away with expenditure with a high income but then you can still be constrained by wages under the FFP regulations. This is really not a matter for the LFC pages.}

1.) 16 Nov 2016 16:09:44
I know that Ed but I appreciate the response anyway! Put it down to naive curiosity.

Ed001 do you mind providing us with one of your almost requisite post match reports?

As for myself I thoroughly enjoy games like these were we get to see our younger players. It's also very refreshing to see these players go out with a plan and a purpose as opposed to a team just being thrown together because you want to rest a few key players which is a complaint I have about a lot of managers.

I can't really fault anyone except for an uncharacteristically weak challenge Lucas for the goal, but I'm sure Ward was very happy to have the experience of Lucas and Toure in front of him all game.

I was particularly pleased for Ibe given some of the negative press he's had from our own boys recently and I think Klopp brought him back in to the team at the right time.

Finally I'd like to say how great it is to see Sturridge with a bit more of a spring in his step, his back heel was genuis and real demonstration of the quality his brings to the team, that extra edge. He arguably should of had at least one more if not more but he had a great game for me.

DanTD

{Ed001's Note - I don't know what to say about that game, it felt very much like a pre-season friendly, with no real fire to it, until the closing stages. With little to really play for from Bournemouth, I could understand them struggling to motivate themselves, but every one of our players should have been giving their all to try and force their way in to the line up for the Derby and Villareal matches. I have to say, despite the win, I was a little disappointed, it was just a stroll in the park.

Ward showed a real improvement over Mignolet in distribution, but he flaps at crosses into the box, didn't handle the pressure well. Did little to put pressure on Migs, as he should have done, but it was good to see him get a game.

The rest of the team pretty much strolled through the game, with Bournemouth not really turning up, there was little from us either. I can't stress enough how disappointed I was with our lack of urgency, as they were clearly there for the taking and we could have racked up a big win if the players had been up for it. Still, a win is a win, but those players all need a kick up the arse and a reminder that they have their futures to play for.}

1.) 18 Apr 2016 10:26:54
It was the one thing I was a bit dissapointed with - when we were 2-0 up we lazily passed it around like it was job done. we all know that's never the case in the PL and we almost paid a price.

2.) 18 Apr 2016 18:25:09
Ed, though I agree that we could have attacked more, I somehow feel they resorted to 'safe' game, since most of them were young and don't play together very often than they should.
Ojo, Allen and Sturridge though, tried to make things happen with a bit of urgency.

3.) 18 Apr 2016 19:30:36
Cant fault you there, Ed. the fact that it looked like a friendly jumped out at me after about 15-20 minutes and indeed, we should have put 5 past them but a win`s a win.

{Ed001's Note - it just seemed a shame, it shouldn't be about doing enough, it should be about doing your best. Especially when you are fringe players getting a rare start. You should be fired up, desperate to prove you are ready to get more starts.}

09 Jan 2016 01:23:56
Ed001 can we get your thoughts on the game tonight? And your response to the criticism Klopp is receiving for his team selection?

I actually enjoyed the match, and I was happy with the line-up although I felt Klopp was left with little other choice anyway. Thought Benteke was probably a bad choice to start and the lad didn't do himself any favours but I think enough of the other guys have had their say in him.

DanTD

{Ed001's Note - I thought it was good, really enjoyable match, which was win win for both team. The kids showed good heart to come back twice, worked hard on a terrible pitch (in the main anyway) and looked better than the senior players in the side.

As for the line up, not sure what else he could do.}

1.) 09 Jan 2016 05:25:36
Stayed up late to watch this game and not for a minute felt bored, the Kids really played well, although they need to step up the 2 leg to be played later. Benteke was anonymous for 45 mins, Randall, Enrique, Chrivella looked weaker links, Ojo was really good. Brad Smith look better every game, Kent is good but was too selfish at times.
If these players play regular games together in Academy or anywhere they are surely a B team for Liverpool.

2.) 09 Jan 2016 07:28:14
The pitch was woeful! I couldn't help thinking how good players from the 70s,80s etc would look today on a good pitch.

3.) 09 Jan 2016 09:32:19
Spot on ed and we got to see what some of the younglins are made of. Tex showed some great flashes, smith will be a good pro, ojo will be excellent with more experience. But we also saw how poor the senior players on the field were, but more pluses than negatives for me and klopp absolutely played the right team. Its also good for the club that we have a manager with the stones to put some faith in the younglins and it will give them hope that they will get chances under him.

If he had a fully fit squad (13 players injured to remind some people) then i could understand the disrespect jibes and with two crucial matches coming up he played it well and we got away with it.

4.) 09 Jan 2016 09:35:42
It was good from the young lads considering they haven't played together this season, some playing their first games of the season.

I'm not sure how anyone can deny what happened given the club itself issued an apology, it's like you all live with your heads in the sand. I love the club and Klopp but poor mistakes have been made. To be honest I'm not sure why we're dragging all of this up again.

Ed001, with the situation you described at right back is it likely that we'll see Clyne move on?

Max Renn, what about agent's fees? Wages that weren't covered by loans? We most certainly have not made money or broke even. Let's not also forget the fact we borderline ruined a young players career.

TopBusiness, if Salah scores beyond 20 (which he almost certainly will) I don't understand what difference that makes just because he's called a winger instead of a striker.

No, for a few reasons.

1. His head needs to be right before he's put back in to the team.
2. The team has been playing well as is, so why change it.
3. It sends a poor message to the other players, they've been training, playing well and generally working hard and you immediately replace them with a player who hasn't trained and tried to engineer a move away from the club.

First things first, the relationship between Klopp and Coutinho needs to be sorted and ensure all his teammates feel comfortable with him again (they should be, they're professionals) .

The fans don't need an apology, fans are fickle and if he starts playing when again then everything will be forgiven, as we did with Suarez.

Always makes me laugh that people think this is an FSG problem, "FSG keep the wallet closed", if Klopp and the rest of the LIVERPOOL hierarchy (not FSG) had not ****ed around with regards to VVD so much we might well have our man.

However, that's the way it is and we'll have to deal with it now.

But it isn't 118 million in reality, besides money isn't an issue for us. We don't need that money to buy for the positions you've listed, we just haven't sorted them for reasons other than money.

So you want to replace a player who in your opinion goes missing in some games with a player who goes missing for whole seasons?
