I've used search and found nothing. Are there any legs to the Stirling to Real Madrid rumours next summer and that new contract talks are stalling?

Very concerning?

Statto

{Ed002's Note - They have a sustained interest in him.}

Jason McAteer commented on LFC channel after the game that a cheeky bid for Torres would not be a bad idea. Ed002, could you ever see this happening?

Statto

{Ed002's Note - He is available, but I am not aware of interest and I would think there are far better options available.}

Just an opinion. the feeling of anxiety around Anfield last night was palpable. I get it, I’m a fan of 45 years and the level of desperation to get over the line makes you feel sick at times. That said, I think we fans and the glorious Kop can play our part by trying to enjoy the journey and showing it in our appreciation and singing etc.

Shankly once said. ”Pressure is working down the pit. Pressure is having no work at all. Pressure is trying to escape relegation on 50 shillings a week. Pressure is not the European Cup or the Championship or the Cup Final. That’s the reward. ”

We are in the race to win championship! Few teams can realistically say that. So, win, lose or draw let’s show that we appreciate it and it might get the lads over the line when teams turn up, play well are very organised and we are struggling to break them down and need that extra man. Let’s take the pressure off by showing the team that we are enjoying it. Half time Istanbul ring a bell. It just might relax the team enough so their running is easier, touch is lighter and decisions better.

I know this post won’t change it but just wanted to say it.

Amen to that brother.

Great post mate!

{Ed025's Note - i think statto is the modern day winston churchill, very uplifting..

3.) 31 Jan 2019 20:38:09
I wish we saw more posts like this Ed25 mate!

{Ed025's Note - beats the crap out of moaning about refs salah mate..

4.) 31 Jan 2019 21:08:35
Brilliant post, OP. I watched on the telly and the atmosphere felt flat esp. when things were not going lour way. It seemed many were on hand to just see what they expected to happen and when it was looking difficult, they just waited for the players to do something instead of helping them and ginning them up with relentless support. I understand the anxiety BUT frankly, has this team and this manager not done enuff to get us juiced up for a game of this magnitude? The fans need to come to play for each game at Anfield cos the PL title will NOT be won by just the players and manager. The fans have to be a hugwe part of it and dare to dream just like our boys and manager have all season and, so we can all get to the promise land. LET'S GO!

5.) 31 Jan 2019 21:14:33
Great post that statto.

6.) 31 Jan 2019 21:32:39
Great post that alright Statto.

7.) 31 Jan 2019 21:54:02
Great post and a nice change of pace, 5 points clear of the most expensive squad ever assembled can't be all bad.
Yes last night was a huge opportunity missed but nothing is ever straight forward.
I really don't see City winning their next 3 games so I guess we'll just have to see what happens next.
As u mention about fans being desperate to get over the line, for me it's got to the point where it's not about ending the long wait, about showing we're not serial chokers, personally I just couldn't stand how smug Pep would be if we blow it, it'd be unbearable.

8.) 31 Jan 2019 21:58:37
Trust Shanks to put things in perspective. Great quote that.

9.) 31 Jan 2019 23:02:40
Love it OP.

10.) 31 Jan 2019 23:04:34
Nice one Statto, I wanted to say something similar but you put it much better than I could. Only 7 home league games left the supporters lucky enough to get tickets should be making each one like a European night.

11.) 01 Feb 2019 00:03:24
Nice one Statto. As a humble lad from New Zealand, it'll be very rare that I will go to Anfield to experience it. Maybe one day, when the kids are older, working and can pay for themselves lol. But anyways, I started following the club in the mid 90s but was only really able to catch highlights on the news to get results. Learning about the club it was things I learned like "how knowledgable Anfield crowd is", "applauding former players", applauding skill from opposition", singing non-stop etc etc it was those values that fueled my passion for the club. So to watch the team more closely with TV networks and online options, as an outsider you do get the impression that Anfield can be a pressure cooker ready to pop. And just imagining what kind of pressure that puts the players under over and above the pressure they already manage day to day.

Here in NZ at sporting events we only sing when we winning. and even then we don't really sing! I wish and hope that Anfield never loses that spirit of unconditional support and love for their team but also Express that raw passion and emotion through song, chants etc.

Great post Statto. We as fans have a role to play and that is to support our lads in this wonderful rollercoaster we are on. Remember it is a privilege to win the league not a right. I sometimes think our sense of entitlement gets in the way of reality, it is 30 years since we last won the league!

13.) 01 Feb 2019 06:11:44
Well said OP. We are going to win it.

Bad news, although we extended our lead over city it is still 2 games they need to win to over take us, so it's similar to a loss

That said, its not that simple. An extra point could be the point that wins us ghe league.

Calm down guys, we have this. The pitch was poor which will always favour the worse team. Our injuries are coming back soon. Trent and gomez, rather than matip and milner/ hendo. Thought hendo was great at rb. Its nice to know we have that option as its one of the positions we are light on, the other being lb.

Bet we signn Chilwell in the summer.

Pele says Neymar had to leave Barcelona to get out of Messi's shadow. And here is me thinking he left for 0.5 million per week!

Begs the question why Coutinho is desperate to leave and to get in his shadow?

Statto

1.) 04 Sep 2017 19:28:25
Isn't it 700k a week? Plus a whole load of other stuff on top?

2.) 04 Sep 2017 19:29:11
Besides it's not hard to get out of messis shadow he's only little.

3.) 04 Sep 2017 20:06:18
As a midfielder having messi and Suarez in front of you for movement and finishing your chances will cover you in glory, as a wide forward in naymar he wants the chances himself, makes perfect sense tbh.

4.) 04 Sep 2017 20:14:32
People are aware that it is possible for both scenarios to be true, right?

5.) 04 Sep 2017 20:20:39
Barca wanted Verratti, PSG signed Neymar to play alongside Verratti lol!

6.) 04 Sep 2017 20:52:47
This why eds don't talk about money 😉.

Quick question - could the situation around Couts and transfers be reliant on qualification for champs league?

1. Unless we pay silly scary wages, not being CL can impact who will want to come and play for us.

2. Not qualifying means less income so by definition less money available to buying transfers and a Couts replacement.

Statto

{Ed025's Note - it is certainly a factor i would think statto

1.) 14 Aug 2017 17:19:32
I and I'm sure the club, really wanted our business done before now, not qualifying puts us badly on the back foot for those top players. Let's just hope we get the job done.

10 Aug 2017 16:01:05
Is anyone else like me and scan through the team training photos on the Liverpool website to see if Coutinho is training? I do it with any player that's in a transfer situation.

I couldn't see him.

Statto

{Ed002's Note - He is injured.}

1.) 10 Aug 2017 16:10:08
I bet it's the same injury Sigurdsson and Sanchez have.

2.) 10 Aug 2017 16:46:52
There's a lot of it about PC.

3.) 10 Aug 2017 16:50:02
What injury is that? Itchy feet?

{Ed002's Note - Backache.}

4.) 10 Aug 2017 16:50:22
They aren't injured.
Additional strength training in the wrist for when they have to sign all those autographs. ☹.

03 Aug 2017 17:36:52
FFP and the Neymar deal is confusing! Only posting here because the feeling is that if Neymar goes, Coutinho might have his head turned. Basically, Qatar, an oil rich nation, is now buying players at jaw dropping prices! I wonder if we can get America to buy us!

Statto

1.) 03 Aug 2017 18:21:54
Clubs are an elitist little game, as is Monopoly for all us plebs.

2.) 03 Aug 2017 22:11:10
It's not jaw dropping, at all. It's actually obscene and outrageous. I don't see how people can accept and tolerate this "exceptional player" nonsense to sidestep FFP rules. It's way beyond ridiculous. 450 Million (transfer fees and wages inclusive) for 5 years. That's 90 Million per year, or 1.73 Million every week for Mr. Neymar to kick a ball around on a rectangular grass field. Sheer madness.

{Ed002's Note - How has anyone side stepped any rules at this time?}

3.) 03 Aug 2017 23:03:40
Ed002, my contention is that the exceptions themselves should not be allowed. I meant these "special player exemptions" go against the spirit of what the FFP should be trying to achieve.

{Ed002's Note - There is nothing about exceptions that has been formalised but it is recognised that you cannot simply say to a player, this is it, you can never be sold. If you rwally care about "obscene and outrageous" you would care about how the worst team in European football goes about attempting to treat and their transfers. Liverpool.}

4.) 04 Aug 2017 02:51:00
Worst team in europe wow.

5.) 04 Aug 2017 11:14:40
Ed002, I actually only really care about how that $450 million could be used to feed starving children, the homeless and the destitute. This is only a game that big boys play. Since we are questioning values.

{Ed002's Note - OK, you could start by writing to Liverpool asking them to donate the fee they get for Coutinho to charity.}

6.) 04 Aug 2017 12:37:10
Good idea Ed002. Maybe some of the other clubs will also follow suit and do the same. And within a few decades poverty and famine will be eradicated. Your foresight is boundless. Kudos.

I was at the Rhyl Game, in the first-half Rhyl hardly got out of their half. Great assist by Juanma, he put it on a plate. 2nd half saw almost complete different team out and the game was less one sided although Liverpool were still dominant but just less clinical.

We won 1-4.

Kent and Wilson were class. Worth a watch for the price guys, good footy on show.

He is ok, can be lazy and I’ll disciplined which stop him become great.

He would be a bench warmer, cover and might play in league cup, not sure if Shaqiri wants that but there are too many who get the nod ahead of him for me including giving youngsters a chance.

Ramos, has every trick in the book. some call it professional football, I think too much of it and the game ceases to be football. He did not mean to injure Mo but he did get his arm over Mo’s shoulder, cleverly locked arms and fell down to bring Mo down without having to put a foot in to concede a free kick. Unfortunately, this clever foul led to Mo getting a nasty injury and probably missing the World Cup. Other games Mo gets up and Ramos thinks I nullified that threat with a clever foul and fooled the ref. This time he has to watch a player miss out on the most important game of his career to date.

That’s why I think it’s a shame Can is leaving, I think he will be better again next year and we are losing him at his prime.
