Had a dream last night that we beat Sunderland 2-0.
Only problem is. Robbie Fowler scored our second goal. 😂.

1.) 02 Jan 2017 14:53:56
Maybe its a sign for R F to get the second Roberto Frimino 👍🏼.

05 Dec 2016 20:37:33
I see Klopp and the lads flew out to Barcelona straight after the Bournemouth game, and will be at the Barcelona v Monchengladbach match tomorrow night.
Chance for Klopp to get a first hand look at Dahoud maybe.

1.) 05 Dec 2016 21:13:02
Indications are that LFC are no longer pursuing Dahoud.

2.) 05 Dec 2016 21:19:33
We moved on last summer and signed Wijnaldum. There has been no interest from us this season.

3.) 05 Dec 2016 23:26:56
Dahoud has looked pretty impressive this season which was to be expected, it's a shame that we didn't pursue him when we had the chance but he would have cost a fortune, having said that £25m that we paid for wiji would have gone some way to doing that. I hope we do look at midfield in the summer though, I think it's been a problem area for some time now but has gone under the radar somewhat because of defence.

4.) 06 Dec 2016 00:52:17
The Dahoud ship has sailed. Move on.

14 Nov 2016 17:04:30
Anyone's thoughts on the team for Southampton. I just can't see Coutinho and Firmino featuring. Brazil play in Peru on Wednesday. Then the long flights home. So no matter how fit you are, those flights are energy sapping.
Does anyone think they'll be involved on Saturday.
Gonna be a tough game, but hopefully we'll have enough to get the 3 points.

1.) 14 Nov 2016 17:32:05
Yes I think both will play tbh. Do you ed?

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

2.) 14 Nov 2016 17:42:47
If Firmino doesn`t play any part in Brazil`s game vs Peru, he will definitely play if not start. Couts may come on if he plays vs Peru.

3.) 14 Nov 2016 18:44:15
Matip will start.

4.) 14 Nov 2016 18:45:18
Never understood people who say a flight means a player can't play/ saps energy.
Do you know pilots and cabin crew can and do work 60 hours a week?

{Ed001's Note - different kind of thing. Pilots and cabin crew are not professional athletes expected to be at their physical peak.}

5.) 14 Nov 2016 18:55:28
Flights can sap energy. Disrupts your sleep pattern, diet etc. Its not so easy to get back to your peak lifestyle immediately after. Does take a few days.

6.) 14 Nov 2016 18:56:10
Even still ed, I can't see how it would matter much, or mean a player having to miss a game?

{Ed001's Note - I don't see how it is so difficult to understand how someone flying long hours is not going to be anywhere near peak physical capacity. This is an era of sports science, when those things matter.}

7.) 14 Nov 2016 18:59:28
No idea who will start etc but if firmino and coutinho are rested can bring in sturridge, origi, or wijnaldum and rest both. Positive is have a good amount of depth in the squad.

8.) 14 Nov 2016 19:51:25
Long flights can stress the body in some surprising ways. Google "Steve Waugh DVT".

9.) 14 Nov 2016 20:12:07
Just my opinion, but if you are in your mid 20's, and you have had to sit (or sleep laying down! ) in a first class seat for 12 hours, and are a professional athlete, you should still be able to run around full pelt 3 days later. Obviously not an ideal training regime but come on, shouldn't be that difficult.

10.) 14 Nov 2016 20:28:32
Nick, professional athletes have trained their bodies to the fullest, to the point that something that looks not that significant can affect them as their bodies have been trained to be at excellent peak condition to for maximum performance levels. It is not as cut and dry as many people think.

11.) 14 Nov 2016 20:35:10
I am mid 20s, and in pretty good physical shape. (albeit nothing compared to top professional footballers) however i flew from south america to paris just over a month ago in a 9 hour flight and it killed me for nearly a whole week, it totally screws over your body clock and sleeping pattern, and no matter if you try to sleep on a plane, it will always be broken sleep, same goes for footballers. It does zap energy from you, I can't imagine having to go straight into training the next day and then play a very physical game of football a few days later against top top professionals, it is both physically and mentally very draining to do that. As long as both come back injury free then that is all that matters. can't wait for PL football to return. YNWA.

12.) 14 Nov 2016 19:16:17
Maybe it's just me ed. Lol
I hear people moaning all the time about jet lag after a flight from Spain or somewhere when I have just done 20 of them flights in 6 days. Haha
While I'm on the subject ed, I always have liverpool/ Everton/ United/ city etc players on my flights between games going home to various parts of the continent, some players always seem to be on, do clubs restrict how many times a player flies home? I don't think flying short haul makes any difference to fitness levels myself but the times of flights could do, I have seen players play on TV late sometimes then see them on a 5am flight the next day.

{Ed002's Note - Players would need to request anything more than a day or two off and clubs would be fussy if it was being abused. But if visiting friends of family on a day off as opposed to a rest day doesn't bother clubs.

However, players are expected to act responsibly.}

13.) 14 Nov 2016 22:15:00
They should get these lads a "human charger". I wonder if ed002 has one? Wonderful for jet lag. 👌.

14.) 14 Nov 2016 23:16:51
Or a Jet Wag.
To help them recover of course.

{Ed002's Note - The players are returning with a couple of others (Willian is one) via a chartered flight.}

15.) 14 Nov 2016 23:34:48
Have some of you guys ever been on a long-haul flight before? It is bloody disgusting. Not only is it bad for sleep patterns, but sitting on your arse for so many hours is not that good for you either, especially for athletes who need to be in prime condition. A private jet with reduced noise and comfortable seating for sitting *and* lying down is what they desperately need.

{Ed002's Note - Typically smaller aircraft are not quieter.}

16.) 15 Nov 2016 04:19:02
Oh dear - young people are so soft these days. They all need to harden up a bit if you ask me. I understand the concept of sports science but it goes too far sometimes. No wonder these players have no real future outside of the game - the real world chews them up and spits them out - delicate little petals that they are!

{Ed001's Note - it has got nothing to do with being soft, it has everything to do with the level the opposition are performing at. You can't get away with being drunk or off the pace, like in the past, as the opposition are too well prepared. The real world does not chew them up and spit them out either, no idea where you got that stupid idea from.}

17.) 15 Nov 2016 04:24:41
I wonder how many days in advance did they fly to Peru, to be able to play for Brazil.

18.) 15 Nov 2016 06:24:27
City, Chelsea and Liverpool football club will share a common private jet to fly their players immediately after the internationals.

19.) 15 Nov 2016 11:38:52
Jet lag isn't a condition pertaining to being tired from a flight, it's the body's internal clock struggling to adapt to a new time zone. There's only a 5 hour time difference with us and Peru, which isn't terrible but it does mean they're playing at 02:15 uk time. I don't care who you are, that's going to screw up your sleep pattern for a few days. Then there is the issue of what happens to your body on a long journey which everyone knows takes a day or so in its self to shrug off. Anyone complaining of jet lag from Spain is talking crap, they might be tired if they fly at night but it's not jet lag it's just the same as having a late night so your tired.

20.) 15 Nov 2016 15:52:17
I bet that Raymond verheijen will explain impact of jetlag if klopp starts any player who flew abroad this international break haha.

21.) 15 Nov 2016 16:04:56
Not if you get a human charger.

22.) 15 Nov 2016 19:06:10
What a joke. I am ex services yet we completed flights and expected to fight the enemy, and we had to be on top of your game and athlete fit. Do you think the enemy think to give you a rest because of jet lag?

{Ed001's Note - what has that got to do with anything? This is not a war, it is a game. We don't have cannon fodder that are expendable, they have to be in the side all season, so you take care of them.}

06 Nov 2016 21:24:16
I think Brazil are away to Peru on the Wednesday before our Saturday game at Southampton. I honestly can't see Coutinho and Firmino being ready to play for us after such a long flight home.
Thankfully we've got strength in depth now. but they would certainly be missed.

1.) 06 Nov 2016 21:39:37
It depends on how much they play during the break. Coutinho will likely start both games for Brazil, so maybe he start from the bench at Southampton, while Firmino is likely only to be a sub for Brazil, so he starts IMO. Perhaps a chance for Sturridge to start if Coutinho is rested.

2.) 06 Nov 2016 21:48:46
Them first class flights are a nightmare.

3.) 07 Nov 2016 07:25:54
Suggesting we rely on Sturridge following an international 'break' is reckless talk AG.

4.) 07 Nov 2016 11:13:52
In fairness on my flight they were business class I'm not sure about the long haul to Brazil. But they got a private jet back last time with some city players if I'm right which might be done again? Not sure.

26 Oct 2016 22:21:12
Leeds United at Anfield. That'll do nicely 😀👍🏼.

1.) 26 Oct 2016 22:35:13
Good drew like to see the same team that play agaist Spurs . Maybe Joe Gomez if fit.

2.) 26 Oct 2016 22:59:20
Definitely good for the fringe players.

3.) 27 Oct 2016 01:00:35
I had a gut feeling we would get Leeds. I say, we mix up the selection and get the win and we put out a strong team for the semis because we will definitely get a team that's worth fielding a strong line up for.

4.) 27 Oct 2016 01:07:54
The last time I saw Leeds at Anfield, Aussie Mark Viduka had four shots and four goals. Paddy Berger also did some serious knee damage trying to turn and block a shot.

5.) 27 Oct 2016 01:16:08
Will like to see ojo in.

6.) 27 Oct 2016 01:47:11
Ojo won't be in unfortunately. Ed1 says he may be back by the end of the season (gutted) . I like the idea of leeds I think we'll destroy them whatever team we put out. I want to see a similar lineup like we had against Spurs the other night and of course if gomez is fit, he'd replace Klaven for me.

7.) 27 Oct 2016 04:11:14
Don't get overconfident guys. We need to play a strong team in this game to get through. Leeds have a decent history, so stop all those fringe players talk. We must show them respect and approach the game with all seriousness. Yes, we have an okay backup team, but we'll be in for a surprise if we don't play a mix of seniors and youngsters. It's a chance to be in the last 4; let's not get complacent and blow it!

8.) 27 Oct 2016 08:33:03
In my opinion, there's no point in having a squad if you can't play some fringe players in a game against a team like Leeds. With all due respect they have been a second tier team for over a decade and have not been close to the premier league in recent years.

I'm not advocating complacency, Klopp will not pick players who are not up for the game. Who is likely to be the more complacent? The players regularly playing in the premier league or the players trying to break into the first team?

9.) 27 Oct 2016 09:42:38
I was going to say mix the team up with first team and squad players but thinking about it I am not sure who I would drop from the spurs game. Maybe we should keep as it was and ensure courts, bobby and mane are on the bench if needed.

10.) 27 Oct 2016 09:45:44
Very true Ron.

I am over confident with this fixture Noski, to me it'll be a walk in the park even if we played the majority of the youngsters it would be, Klopp won't be risking anything, it'll be a mixture as it was the other night and we will win.

11.) 27 Oct 2016 09:59:21
Good news is we can rotate without weakening the team too much.

Sturridge, Origi and Ings upfront are arguably almost as good as Coutinho, Firmino and Mane. Likewise in midfield Stewart and Can are more than capable of first team places while Grujic is a big talent and deserves a real chance. We can comfortably mix and match from these 6 to create two very strong lineups without too much compromise.

Only potential lack of depth I see is in the defensive positions but even there we have very capable and experienced CBs and a talented young RB, while Moreno and Migs were first team not long ago.

Klopp has done a fantastic job of creating a squad capable of rotating and competing on multiple fronts without a significant loss of quality.

12.) 27 Oct 2016 10:55:48
lol. Noski the only sensible poster above. Walk in the park even with the kids eh?
Leeds are gaining momentum and a better squad than we've had in a long long time. You will get through but I don't see a massacre.
Liverpool fans always think they're going to win everything. Just like I used to.
There but for the grace of god go I
Interesting game. MOT.

13.) 27 Oct 2016 11:08:31
TREV - we'll see once the massacre happens mate.

14.) 27 Oct 2016 12:14:22
LIverpoolfc16 i think we should show a bit more respect mate, i don't think Klopp looks at any game as a walk over nor should he, it sets you up for a massive fall if you fall. But looking forward to the fixture and a good result.

15.) 27 Oct 2016 13:24:20
Our second string team is a match for anyone. It wouldn't be complacency to field them against Leeds imo.

16.) 27 Oct 2016 13:34:10
Its great to see the league cup being taken serious again.
In recent years Fergie and Wenger thought they could use it as a reserve game while resting the first team for the

17.) 27 Oct 2016 14:56:36
Fair play Mr W. I can't disagree with you there mate.

If reports are to be believed, there seems to be trouble brewing at Dortmund, with talk of a rift between Tuchel and their head scout.
Let's hope that any unrest at the club, could help us in our pursuit of Pulisic.

Paul Joyce also reporting an £11million bid for Pulisic.
I doubt Dortmund will want to sell him to us. Would be a great buy though.

It's a powder keg waiting to blow.

Two shocking referee decisions, where diving cheats have been awarded penalties!
Will we be given any favours tomorrow night. I doubt it.

Yeh. blatant dive by Rashford for the penalty!
What a free kick by Sigurdsson for the Swansea goal.
Swansea should have taken all 3pts, but I'll settle for the draw.
Now we've got to do the business tomorrow.

Really good team performance today, and another excellent 3pts, away to a difficult team.
I was really impressed with Joel Matip . He gave a classy, assured, confident performance.
Well done lads. YNWA.

I've got a feeling Sturridge could really come good for us this last few vital games, and help relieve the pressure of losing Mane.
If he's given the chance, and gives his all between now and the end of season, he could still possibly save his Liverpool career.
