Private jet landed this morning early to pick up Curtis Jones. It’s heading back to Milan later.

15 Aug 2026 07:40:18
Later Curtis. 👋🏻

15 Aug 2026 07:51:17
No, that's for me, my mates and some Desperate Scousewives for a shopping trip. 👍

5

15 Aug 2026 07:57:20
Zed, what are you spending on fuel these days? 😱

2

15 Aug 2026 07:58:38
I like Nyoni, but I hope he isn't the replacement for Jones. We need another midfielder if he is sold to Inter.

15 Aug 2026 02:57:37
I think yesterday was a big day for the club.
The investment is tremendous news for both FSG as a business and the fans as we are now part owned by some of the wealthiest people on the planet.
Long term, this consortium will look to take full control, FSG have made a substantial profit and I see them releasing full control 28/29.

What’s important now is that we support the new manager, and give him what he needs to compete at first and then build a title and CL winning team.
It’s exciting to be a red again after the debacle that was last season.

5

15 Aug 2026 07:33:52
Sure, but we've always played by the rules, and it will take two seasons for AI to reach full speed.

0

15 Aug 2026 07:43:15
Suffolk, that's what I'm saying. This season will be a learning curve. Next season we should be competing at the highest level again.
He needs two wingers, a right back and a CDM before the end of the window as a minimum though.

4

15 Aug 2026 08:01:14
Agreed, those 4 positions are the bare minimum of what's needed for this season.

0

15 Aug 2026 08:29:34
Haven't we heard all this before? 2 years ago we needed 2 fullbacks, a CDM an AM a CF and we got none of them. We went on to win the league.

We need a winger, at least one. Someone with pace because we sorely lack pace in the team.

If we didn't sign anyone else we should be able to compete at the top end of the table with that squad. What's more important is that the team gets fit, properly fit adapts to Iraola's tactics.

Too many are using last season's form as a yardstick of where we are as a squad. Last season was a one off, a perfect storm if you like.

Slot made a huge mistake in switching off after we'd won the league and allowed the team to lose too much fitness. Then when they came back they didn't do a full, intense preseason because they were morning their mate. Essensially they had from the end of April to the end of July without doing any intense training and so they became unfit. That is then hard to get it back when you lose that level of fitness.

This season you will see a different level from all of the players.

2

15 Aug 2026 08:32:00
Is another RB needed?
Hasn't Araujo just filled some of that gap?
When's Gomez return/prospect, what's the prognosis on Ramsey, what's Bradley's return date/hope/intentions?
Or more of last season's gap fillers.
You cannot buy someone to fill a 3 (?) month gap, unless you're unhappy with what's in front of you, finances are there, someone good enough is available/willing.

15 Aug 2026 08:44:49
Disregarding ethics, I think the club, as a business, took a giant step forward yesterday. I think the range of businesses that Bhatia, and by association the Mittal family, Bezos and Saverin own or have vested interests open up significant new revenue streams.

As I said elsewhere, I'm really keen to see how they build on the current infrastructure and I'm really excited to see the growth of the club both on and off the pitch.

From my perspective I'm not entirely sure that FSG are going to walk away in the short / medium term, I think there are opportunities to increase the value of the club still to be achieved.

0

15 Aug 2026 08:46:01
I'm not sure FSG will sell. There aren't many brands bigger than LFC in sport and, with the new Consortium, they will find avenues to grow the brands' reach and revenue even further. Not sure FSG will want to miss out on that but we'll see.

At risk of sounding a bit dim, don't the new spending rules depend on income generated and nig investment?

Hence why Spurs can be awful but flash the cash and new style have to see their best players?

The notion of Amazon sponsoring g the players' coffee lounge for £2billion I think have passed

Hi all,

I know I said I was on hiatus - but I am going to make a quick exception just this once.

There has been a major breakthrough in talks with Mbaye this afternoon. It is very possible, and likely, that he is a Liverpool player by this time next week.

44

14 Aug 2026 19:52:50
Thanks Vic, great news.

Sounds like it's Mbaye and Barcola.

Would that be enough to sanction a Gakpo sale or would that depend on someone else coming in?

17

14 Aug 2026 20:03:06
Appreciate the update, the kid has a lot of potential.

6

14 Aug 2026 20:03:35
Thank you, Vic.

7

14 Aug 2026 20:04:22
Thanks, VG!! Anything shared is always appreciated, let's hope we get this one over the line.

4

14 Aug 2026 20:05:31
Yes, if the two signings get completed, I expect Gakpo to depart.

27

14 Aug 2026 20:08:46
Thanks very much, VG.

2

14 Aug 2026 20:09:23
So appreciate you god damn!

1

14 Aug 2026 20:19:14
Cheers, VG.

1

14 Aug 2026 20:20:25
Keep the hiatuses coming, VG. (Or is that hiati 🤔). Thanks for thinking of us.

9

14 Aug 2026 20:21:13
Please come ho-oh-ome!

3

14 Aug 2026 20:22:20
Mbaye is so young he can actually become a homegrown player.

The talent is there for sure. Hopefully, he has the humility and also the belief to fulfill his potential in the coming years.

19

14 Aug 2026 20:23:59
Hey Vic, cheers for posting. You're a top man.

2

14 Aug 2026 20:30:06
Good man, Vic, breaks are overrated, chief! Keep them coming!

3

14 Aug 2026 20:33:37
Thanks VG. I don't see us buying Barcola and Mbaye. For starters, the cost and game-time don't really fit.

Barcola 60-65%. 23, 11 league goals in roughly 1,750 minutes and ready to start immediately. He fits the big-money FSG profile.

If Barcola falls through, I'd actually have El Mala 30% ahead of Mbaye. 19, 13 goals and 4 assists in under 2,000 Bundesliga minutes, with Dortmund already establishing the EUR50m-ish price.

Fernandez-Pardo 20%. 21, 8 goals and 5 assists, covers LW/RW/CF and Atletico have already tested Lille at EUR35m.

Mbaye 15%. 18, only around 1,000 Ligue 1 minutes with 3 goals and 2 assists, while PSG want EUR40-50m. At that price the other two make more sense statistically and financially.

And after Munoz and Araujo, I wouldn't assume Liverpool's real alternative has even leaked yet.

6

14 Aug 2026 20:38:33
I was busy in work today and took a break from the site. I only checked it 100 times instead of 500 times.

Thanks for update, Vic.

18

14 Aug 2026 20:39:40
We had to break the PL transfer record for Isak circa £125 million. It would not surprise me at all if it follows, time wise, the Isak deal right to the wire also. My own thoughts: Rayan is a £130 million release clause, and if solely down to Andoni he will make the right decision for him and, more importantly, the LFC first team. The later the ultimate decision swings it towards Rayan, as he knows the manager and also his formation and tactics and is PL proven.

The ideal scenario would be both BB and Rayan. If that is the case, I would expect the Rayan deal first, as it says to PSG accept our BB bid or we can walk away?

As always, as in life, money (the transfer fee) is always the decider at the end of the day, and the sole reason for the current "impasse" between LFC and PSG.

14 Aug 2026 20:41:18
Thank VG for the info. Love reading your posts.

Here's hoping for more 'quick exceptions.'

1

14 Aug 2026 20:41:27
If Liverpool has an alternative to Barcola/Mbaye, I haven't a clue who it is. Not anything I've heard anyways.

But, regardless, I can't see why we would even be targeting a Barcola alternative. That deal is gonna be completed.

Trying to be extra careful with what way I word it.

31

14 Aug 2026 20:44:28
@inbeta1989. 😂😂😂

1

14 Aug 2026 20:51:53
Maybe I shouldn't say alternative, VG. We need depth. We are going very young at the moment, which I think you and I both know is the rebuild strategy.

They've got a lot of faith in this from the early talks with AA... and his track record.

With all the team not joining, I expect a rough road...

I'm just excited to see what comes of the prem for us this year. We've got some surprises up our sleeve with Rio, Munoz and Nyoni, and I'm confident of top 4. But we are going to be 3-2 wins for first ten games and some 3-3s. 😂

1

14 Aug 2026 20:53:50
Thanks, Victorgd.

0

14 Aug 2026 21:00:31
Thanks, VG. Wonder if we are looking at a 9, or we content with Chiesa as Barcola, Mbaye and Munoz can all play 9.

2

14 Aug 2026 21:01:29
I am more excited about Mbaye than Barcolla, to be honest. Covers for the rw. I wish we only signed Mbaye and invested more time and energy in making at least one addition to midfield. Looks like LFC is so focused on Barcolla that they are not pursuing anything else at this moment.

Thanks though, Vic!

6

14 Aug 2026 21:06:03
Thanks for coming back to let us know, VG. Could be great news. 👍🏻

Cheers VG, just watching him on YouTube, looks quick.

14 Aug 2026 21:15:09
I got beans and balone-eyey!

0

14 Aug 2026 21:16:23
Nice one, VG, thanks.

0

14 Aug 2026 21:22:09
Cheers Vic. Hopefully you're back now.

1

14 Aug 2026 21:23:20
Thanks VG. Sounds promising.

0

14 Aug 2026 21:31:37
Don't leave again, VG, it's been chaos since you left! We've had ITK's coming out of every orifice!

Don't worry though, Chewy was fighting your corner.

7

14 Aug 2026 21:34:33
Thanks VG, I think that would be a great double scoop. M'Baye has huge potential and makes real sense to me.

0

14 Aug 2026 22:00:52
Good to hear from you again VG, appreciate all info mate.

1

14 Aug 2026 22:17:59
Thanks VG,.

0

14 Aug 2026 22:43:36
Cheers, Victor.

Glad to hear we've made a breakthrough with Mbaye because he looks a real talent. More importantly, it's good to see you back posting again.

1

14 Aug 2026 22:45:18
To answer my opinion, your question, Zedd.

If we have Munoz, Barcola, Gakpo, Rio and Mbaye as winger options, my starting wingers would be Gakpo and Barcola on Rw.

I genuinely think Gakpo is far far better than what he showed last season and the season prior is the true Gakpo. He just lost some confidence in tactics that didn't suit him. I think Iraola's tactics would suit him.

If we are getting rid of Gakpo and bringing in Mbaye and Munoz to compete with Rio for starting position, I'll be a little concerned any would be an upgrade on what Gakpo is capable of. I fancy Munoz to win out. And then there's the question if Isak gets injured. Perhaps Munoz goes there.

My main point is, while we have options, they are very inexperienced options. Particularly if Isak goes down.

I'll back Iraola still to get the best out of young players.

But I don't think the profile of Gakpo is replaced either. He brings good size and power to the forward line. I think the player who would fit a Gakpo profile better would be someone like Rayan who could play up top.

Or we could do the easy thing and just keep Gakpo.

Gakpo, Barcola, Mbaye, Munoz, Koumas, Rio, Isak and eventually Ekitike seems like a good set of options to me up top of we can pull it off.

Chiesa would obviously need to make room in non homegrown players.

Top man, VG! Always welcome your updates!

1

14 Aug 2026 23:12:43
As always, this is top info. Accurate stuff. Don't like the thought of Gakpo going myself tbh.

3

14 Aug 2026 16:09:25
Rumours Gakpo agreed personal terms with Spurs.

20

14 Aug 2026 17:24:58
I hope not.

7

14 Aug 2026 17:31:42
Well this is the best place for rumours, Jerry
Thanks for the info.

9

14 Aug 2026 17:48:48
Just an £80m (?) valuation to be met with the club then.

4

14 Aug 2026 18:02:45
I don't have faith in Hughes to replace Gakpo

We've lost one of the best wingers the Premier League has ever seen on the other side, and he's completely abandoned the position altogether.

13

14 Aug 2026 18:08:41
Well, we have plenty who can play on the left. Curious, I wonder if a Gakpo sale would be to facilitate a Rayan approach, separate to the Barcola pursuit?
I personally rate Gakpo, but it depends on if he wants to stay or not.

If he wants to stay, I think he should do. If he wants to leave and we got someone like Rayan in as a result, I would take that.

8

14 Aug 2026 18:29:03
So did we give Gakpo and Spurs permission for them to talk to each other?

1

14 Aug 2026 18:31:22
I'll start the car. 🙏

1

14 Aug 2026 18:31:48
Gakpo is a very good player who suffered with a dip in form last season, but who didn't!
He has served us well, and his stats (yes I know!) are good over the period since his signing.

He can play more than one position, and I think he'll be a loss if he goes.
If he wants to go, then fair enough, but personally I'd keep him, and there are others I'd let go before him.

12

14 Aug 2026 18:36:30
You don't need permission to speak to his agents.

6

14 Aug 2026 18:43:18
Good news to drop the one trick pony from our squad. Makes room for more versatility.

9

14 Aug 2026 17:35:23
Interesting.

I've read the same, but only on the various clickbait sites via NewsNow (normally referencing X accounts).

If you have more concrete sources on this, Sailor, then great.

2

14 Aug 2026 19:44:04
If Gakpo goes, we need a striker.

4

14 Aug 2026 19:48:15
Not knocking owners or anything, but they were always going to recoup money as well as spend. Always have. Last season Diaz, Nunez, Quansah and Doak. So Gakpo is the only one worth any big money, as McAlister is staying.

Jones, Endo etc ain't going to recoup much. If Pool get Barcola, they were never going to keep him. I'd keep him. When will we ever have a great bench? Buy and sell, you're always going to struggle with a bench.

1

14 Aug 2026 19:50:02
Joost Blaauwhof, who's a reliable Dutch journalist, has said that Gapko has, in general, agreed to the move. Not seeing a fee mentioned yet.

2

14 Aug 2026 19:52:05
No, I'm not an ITK, just passing on what the rumours seem to be, a lot of the talk seems to be from Dutch sources.

3

14 Aug 2026 19:57:58
Great player, never felt he quite suited us though. If the rumour is true, best of luck to the lad and thanks for the last few years. Ynwa.

2

14 Aug 2026 19:58:47
If Gakpo wants to get to London before deadline day, he will have to set off now, considering he can only turn right.

12

14 Aug 2026 20:50:54
Thanks for coming back, Vic, if nothing else to show the Djimi T how it's done.
Big respect from Ireland.

0

14 Aug 2026 15:58:23.
Liverpool are in further conversations with Bournemouth over Rayan.

Player is keen on the move, however Liverpool aware it would be a big fee to pay.

As he is U21 he would not need to be registered, although unlike Mbaye, he would have to be registered as non-homegrown when he turns 21.

Lots of moving parts, but if Gakpo move to Spurs progresses, Liverpool will look to add two higher profile players (including Barcola).

Bournemouth are seriously considering Ben Farhan, from Karlsruher and will need to reinforcements.

Buckle up the next week or two could get very interesting.

Rayan and Barcola could change our front 3 rapidly.

22

14 Aug 2026 16:26:23
Thanks for the info, Jonny, but nope, I ain't buckling up. Not doubting your info, but I have heard the next week stuff too many times this window already. Not raising my hopes up again.

26

14 Aug 2026 16:27:41
That would be a dream week, Jonny.

4

14 Aug 2026 16:50:49
Love the sound of it, Jonny. What a front line that would be.

4

14 Aug 2026 16:52:48
Personally I think Rayan is a huge risk at anything over £50M price tag. Only seen a little bit of him, but what I saw was not overly impressive.

16

14 Aug 2026 16:56:46
Whilst I would love this to be true, I won't be holding my breath based on your previous posts.

11

14 Aug 2026 17:25:49
Rayan would be an excellent signing.

5

14 Aug 2026 17:26:25
Given today's news from Paul Joyce, I'd imagine the purse strings may be opened quite a bit more...

4

14 Aug 2026 17:26:38
Thanks, Johnny 6. Rayan and Barcola flanking Isak is a pretty exciting prospect and would be my chosen 3.

6

14 Aug 2026 17:27:24
Let's see how this all pans out but definitely think it's going to be tense. Cheers, Jonny.

2

14 Aug 2026 17:28:14
Why not cut out the middle man n buy Ben Farhan.

3

14 Aug 2026 17:31:58
What was that VV??

0

14 Aug 2026 17:36:16
Do you think he's worth more than Mbaye, Cumber?

3

14 Aug 2026 17:44:30
Can't wait for 'next week'!!!!

1

14 Aug 2026 17:56:36
Cumber and anyone else who berates Rayan are also berating Andoni Iraola, as he signed him in the first place.

I think I would rather take Andoni's view of a player than yours, Cumber, if you don't mind?

4

14 Aug 2026 18:05:34
If we sell Gakpo, I wouldn't mind Rayan for RW.

My reasoning is not because of offensive output but defensive one. I don't see anyone besides Gakpo tracking back effectively, and that includes Barcola (IDK about Mbaye). And when I saw Rayan playing for Brazil and doing defensive work, which I feel we would need on the wings.

3

14 Aug 2026 18:20:39
Cheers for the info, JonnyNo6.

1

14 Aug 2026 18:28:44
At the moment, I wouldn't trust Hughes to watch over my artificial plants, but Gakpo out, Barcola and Rayan in, is by far the best balance we can have for the upcoming season!

Specially, with Hugo still out, Rayan would be first choice on the right, but also a great sub for Isak!

All of them would be able to play on both wings, and apart from Rio, all can do shifts at CF (including Koumas).

We still have a gazillion problems to solve, but I'd be more than satisfied with these options upfront.

2

14 Aug 2026 18:38:48
I'm with Shankly's ghost.

Rayan is a brute, he bullies Premier League defenders, he's rapid, he has a great left foot and a rocket of a shot. If we can get him, we should. He'll solve our RW problem for years to come.

6

14 Aug 2026 18:46:34
Gotta go with Shirleykopite on this one.

1

14 Aug 2026 19:00:09
Rayan is the solution for RW. We should be going balls out to get this kid.

5

14 Aug 2026 19:48:52
I've been convinced all summer we would bring in a senior LW and RW. Barcola was never the RW replacement imo. I would expect a lot more speculation on Rayan over the next week or so, especially if there's movement on the Barcola deal.

2

14 Aug 2026 19:53:59
I don't think Ryan is rapid at all really. If I were to compare him to another Brazilian (in terms of style of play), it would be Gabriel Jesus. None of the traditional Brazilian joga bonito, he's all athleticism with little finesse right now.

There's potential for sure, but anyone thinking right wing is sorted if he plays there will be disappointed, he's very rough.

3

14 Aug 2026 20:00:35
I hate to be a cynic, but I can't help but feel Rayan hasn't proven anything, and a lot of his PR came from that goal he scored where Lucas Digne forgot he was a defender, or even a footballer.

2

14 Aug 2026 20:01:38
Would you rate Mbaye, at about half the price of Rayan, to be a better buy, Nevada?

3

14 Aug 2026 21:20:14
It's a fair point, Chicken Staff, I've made it myself previously. People acting like he's the next big thing when he's only scored 1 goal per month since joining the Prem, it's actually a horrendous output on paper, but there is potential there. I don't think anybody in the market isn't a risk atm, bar Olise.

0

14 Aug 2026 21:43:31
I'm not convinced by Rayan either. Certainly not at close to 100m they'd probably want for him.

To be fair, I'm not convinced by any other RW options at the moment. Not a great market at the moment.

0

14 Aug 2026 21:58:35
Honestly, some lads on here are so over emotional and need to have a look at themselves. @007, explain how my comment was berating Rayan or AA?

@Zeddicous, I don't really know much about Mbaye so I can't really comment on it, but Rayan is obviously more advanced in his career for sure.

On what I've read they won't be priced the same tho, Mbaye £40M wish and Rayan £80M ++.

1

14 Aug 2026 22:02:32
@Zeddicus, he's a good player and I'd be happy to have him, just think people should expect the right player, he's more focused on the physical side of the game than the technical and he needs time to develop.

4

15 Aug 2026 00:49:17
You wouldn't get Rayan's right foot for 50m.

0

14 Aug 2026 15:51:34
Simon Phillips (Chelsea guy) said we are one of the teams (others are PSG, Juventus, Manchester City, Bayern Munich) interested in Gusto.

4

14 Aug 2026 16:22:50
He's a good player, but Chelsea want 75 million. I'll be looking at alternatives who are cheaper.

6

14 Aug 2026 16:28:15
If he's that good, why are Chelsea selling him.

12

14 Aug 2026 18:14:48
A good "Gusto"-of wind and he would be blown away! Thank god?

2

14 Aug 2026 21:37:19
Not worth 75m. I'd take him at 40m.

0

15 Aug 2026 00:54:39
If we could get it to under 60, it could be worth doing. He's good and still only 23.

0

15 Aug 2026 04:40:10
Because they signed Palestra who is the first choice right back and Gusto thinks he is good enough to start. Gusto isn't really a wing back either. I don't think Chelsea preparing to sell him is an indicator of his quality, more of their change in management.

0

14 Aug 2026 14:19:20
Regarding Quansah,

Think there was a buy back option for this summer around €80m, which the club didn’t want to use.

There’s another buy back which can be activated in summer 2027 for around €60m.

There's also matching rights and Quansah has agreed a contract if buy back is activated.

So Arsenal would need a big offer for Leverkusen to accept, and considering they lose money every year, and are close to SCR threshold. Not sure they will actually go in.

5

14 Aug 2026 16:08:50
And if this move is merely an attempt to force Liverpool's hand into buying Quansah, the club would then be left without the money to invest in the Barcola. Open path to Arsenal.

4

14 Aug 2026 17:36:58
Lol, Zaratustra!

What a feint that would be by Arsenal!

4

14 Aug 2026 12:24:31
Godts signing announced. Barcola soon?

10

14 Aug 2026 12:50:06
You would certainly hope so.

Not so sure it's been announced, I saw they came to an agreement. I don't think we'll see anything official on Barcola until Godts and/or Torres are fully over the line. I would expect word of an agreement between PSG and Liverpool very soon though.

They have sold Ramos and Kang, but there's no chance that they have bought Godts, Torres and Aklioiche and plan to keep Barcola.

Do Arsenal have room to go above what we're offering? Surely PSG know the price drops significantly every window from here, but of course the game gets played on both sides.

I suspect the price will be more than we wanted to pay and less than PSG wanted to sell.

Hopefully he stars once he joins. That's my main hope. Any price can be forgiven if that happens.

In my opinion, it's possible that PSG hang onto Barcola until the end of the window (like Newcastle with Isak) to get as much money as they can. Good business on their part.

We can always say no longer interested and walk away.

Arsenal are not signing Barcola.

Wdw, I was thinking the opposite, that the longer it goes, the more it would put us in the driving seat, negotiations wise, no? Appreciate we could get more desperate, but they're clearly signing replacements and won't want to have too bloated a squad, not to mention they run the risk of him going into his final year of his contract the season after this.

Hard to know for sure though.

Am not an expert, but I would say the more forward players PSG sign, and with Barcola informing them he wants to sign for us, it gives us the upper hand. You can't have 8 forwards for 3 places, just not enough game time.

So, think this will be done early next week, with just the medical test to be performed. I would not see Barcola failing any of them; he seems a very fit, strong athlete.

Agreed, Grino. That's what I'm thinking also.

Depends, last couple of seasons PSG have basically had a starting 11 for the Champions League and a different one for the league. It's why they can maintain that high tempo style all season.

I've heard that El Mala is one of the main targets with a likely bid incoming in a matter of days.

With Mbaye now not an option anymore and the Barcola saga rumbling on, El Mala can covers a number of roles right across the top line.
His main role would likely be RW but he also provides much needed cover for Isak up top while Ekitike is out injured and Gakpo being linked away.

El Mala, Barcola and a CM for Jones expected to wrap up our business this window.

Haven't Koln just rejected a bid for him from Dortmund that was more than what PSG want for Mbaye?

Mbaye is still an option btw.

Although I never thought Mbaye was a first-choice rw target, I felt interest was genuine, but, I have to say, I've been suspicious it was more of a half-backup plan, half-tactical ploy in negotiating Barcola, with Liverpool essentially sending a message that says "Ok, you want to drag this out with Barcola? We'll just take Mbaye for a fraction of the cost, good luck funding your window!"

Dortmund bid was around EUR 50-55 Mio. They rejected, I think it was Brentford, early in the window for about EUR 50 Mio as well. I'm not too excited about El Mala. He had only one good season until now. Not spectacular, not great, just good. Very raw talent, but nothing better than we already have.

El Mala cannot play on the RW. He almost exclusively plays on the LW or central.

I mean, he can play rw, obviously, just like Barcola and Ngumoha, but they're all probably absolute trash out there.

Personally, hope we get Rayan after selling Gakpo.

It's been reported that El Mala can leave if someone bids at least 42 million, which Dortmund refused to match so have walked away. Could be our chance as PSG have now quoted 50 million for Mbaye.
