Hi Eds,

Thanks again for all your hard work during this mad time.

Before all this I believe the plan was to move the Premier League transfer window back in line with the rest of Europe, so I'm assuming in that way individual leagues hold some power in when they open and close it.

. with such a difference between leagues across Europe at the moment, i. e. we could see Spain, England, Germany finishing at different times whilst France has already finished. Is there any collaborative planning between the leagues and UEFA over the dates of the transfer window?

If it is staying the usual dates of June (July 1st officially) to end of August, how will that be affected by leagues still finishing and European competitions running towards to end of the window?

Cheers.

Believable2 0Unbelievable

{Ed002's Note - Leagues have to meet certain criteria regarding the length (maximum 12 weeks) of the transfer window but can figure the dates out themselves. The Premier League changed the timing of the window because they were arrogant enough to think everyone would follow - they didn't and now it is switching back. The clubs will give their opinion next Thursday when they are due to discuss this and closure of the season if it cannot be completed. The other leagues across Europe have the position that domestic transfers can take pace as soon as the last game is played and can can continue until the individual international windows are shut and are looking at a shorter window. At this point in time the dates on the table in France, Germany, Spain and Italy are August 3 to October 2.}

29 May 2020 15:00:38
Amazing, thanks for the detailed response. Do you think the Premier League will table a similar window?

It will be interesting to see when things starting moving in the market, I imagine slowly it will be quiet, but agents are probably itching to get things going.

ed002 do you think the top 5 leagues should try to get there leagues to start and finish at the same time then the transfer window would be easier to get in line. we seem to start before most of the other big leagues then finish before them the champions league final was a good point last season nearly 3 weeks between games.

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - These are unusual circumstances so it is not possible now. The issue with the leagues is the number of games played varies, the winter break and the arrogance of the Premier League.}

29 May 2020 17:27:01
ed002 4 of the 5 leagues have 20 teams so its only Bundesliga that have 18 and even with the carabao cup we do gain a few games with are Christmas and new year games. Am sure we started 18/ 19 season 2 weeks before most leagues but finished 2 weeks before them. is it hard for us to start later because of the carabao cup 2nd round seems to start before some leagues start. if so do you think its time for that to go like most other countries and have just 1 cup.

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - Right - so the number of games vary per season as I said. If you compare how many games Leicester played in the season they won the league with how many games Manchester City or Chelsea played it will be around 10 less because of European competition. There are two cups to play for, replays again the likes of Plymouth etc., plus Liverpool are looking to work with a proposal for a pre-season tournament which requires the first team to be played - and it soon mounts up. Remember there is a third European tournament coming as well.}

Would liverpool be doing it to try to boost income ed? I can't see the logic in it otherwise with everything going on.

{Ed002's Note - Yes but other sidea are not interested.}

Congrats to Abdi Sharif for getting a new deal!

Looked a decent prospect before his long term injury, hopefully he can kick on (no pun intended)

Edds has it now been put to bed that we won't be signing timo Werner as liverpool don't want to pay the reported asking fee?

Believable0 0Unbelievable

{Ed002's Note - I don't know. I am not aware of what fee RBL would want from Liverpool for him. The discussions with another interested side hinted that they would not be looking to sell him on the cheap. Liverpool are not in a good place financially as I have explained before but can borrow and can of course sell players to raise funds. The owners would not be looking to contribute significantly.}

28 May 2020 19:58:45
Ed002, I thought we were in a good place financially, not so long ago our house was in order and in a good position to strengthen if need be. All change due to C.V.?

With bums on seats being one of the lowest forms of income, where’s it going wrong ed002?

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - I have explained all of this.}

28 May 2020 19:59:06
I have said it before that €79m is the magic sum and it will happen. Cheers.

28 May 2020 22:01:30
Eds can you explain again why or how we are not in a good place financially? I've scrolled but can't see or find where you covered this unless it was a whole back.
Really thought we would be very much in the green.

{Ed002's Note - I really don’t want to open this up again.}

29 May 2020 07:29:07
Ed 002 I remember you saying we were much better financially so this now comes as a shock to me.

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - It is a problem of Living on the edga. Liverpool dealt with their debt well, but manage finances based on income and when it arrives to pay money that is due. There is a loan facility they can call on if necessary as the club. Social cleansing of the Anfield area with Liverpool buying property and leaving it empty for years and persuading the Council to use Compulsory Purchase Orders to purchase the rest. After lying to the Council about their consulation with the locals about the plans for Anfield there was a delay and the two phased approach decided. In February 2020 Liverpool took out a mortgage on all assets (the Freehold and leasehold of Anfield and about 90 properties (some of which were obtained CPO) with the charge held by Natwest. The club have made a number of serious decisions that have led to financial issues - such as putting the full €160M due for Coutinho in the accounts and then spending it. Liverpool now need to make a correction to reflect the actual amount that will be paid by Barcelona. Reliance has been placed on end of season income to pay for transfer fees that have been spread over long periods.}

Ed002 do Hertha Berlin have any plans to sign Grujic permanently?
As a lfc supporter I have accepted his lfc career is over but I wondered if HB or any other clubs are interested, as sooner or later he is going to need to find a club he can call his proper home.
Thanks for all your updates and I hope you and your family are keeping safe and well.

{Ed002's Note - Thanks. Hertha Berlin would indeed like to sign Grujic at the right price.}

Still not going to celebrate just yet, think the key will be the tests and results after contact training returns. If a small amount come back positive then I think we will be ok, a large amount or a high amount within one team and we will be back to square one.

Dave Maddocks released the tweet. Is he reliable?

Agree0 0Disagree

27 May 2020 22:06:01
If true then that shows a real lack of class from Liverpool. We’ve tapped the player up to the point he is desperate to join us. Messed Leipzig as they will now have a player that wants to be elsewhere.
Not very good from us at all.

I’m hoping it’s a case of trying to get the price down for him so we can get him cheaper. Even still it’s not good behaviour from the club.

Apparently he's not worth the 50m because of corona virus but traore is worth 70m and haevertz worth 90m. no ones got a clue can't see them announcing yes or no until Bundesliga over.

28 May 2020 09:12:30
As far as I’m aware, we were never in the race for Werner in the first place? The furthest it’s gone so far is a potential illegal tap up, no formal approach to RBL as Ed2 has confirmed on numerous occasions.

This is a nothing news story. It’s like me pulling out of the marathon having never entered myself for it in the first place.

Maddock also wrote an article 3/ 4 days before we Signed Alisson. That Klopp was happy with Danny Ward (Later sold in same window to Leicester) and won't be buying a new gk!

Can't believe as fans, we haven't learnt anything, about the secrecy in which Edwards tries to do the transfer dealings. a lot of the talking regards Werner is actually coming out through Werner and Leibzig themselves. His manager even talked about it last night. CEO a few days ago. Let it play out. there's no rush. And nobody knows exactly what's happening in background!

28 May 2020 09:10:34
Personally Werner at 50 mill is worth every penny. Obviously every transfer is a risk but we ain’t going to get another player of that calibre for the 30 odd mill we paid each for our current front 3. To be honest our transfer team are very very good but they sure know how to sell a player and scrimp on buying one.

Apart from Fab and Allison we seem to drag our heals and drive prices down which can cause issues like we did with VVD and now Werner. If true that they don’t think Werner is worth it after being a proven German international and top player in a top league and still demand 130 mill for Coutinho and 15 mill for Ibe, 20 mill for Solanke etc is astonishing.

Agree0 0Disagree

28 May 2020 09:18:47
I'd much rather go for Havertz if it's one or the other. I can't see Werner fitting in this squad well.

Agree1 0Disagree

28 May 2020 09:28:07
No one will be paying 70m for Traore or 90m for Havertz. Or anything much for anyone.

Broadcasters don't want to pay up. And fans are not allowed into stadiums.

Football is facing a financial crisis for the ages. There will be more clubs going into administration than there will be transfers.

So, the latest rumour is that Klopp has personally phoned Adama Traore of Wolves to see if he fancies joining us this summer. Isn't this an illegal approach/ tapping up?

Believable0 0Unbelievable

{Ed002's Note - It would be without the agreement of Wolves but am not aware of it happening.}

Hey all, a lot being made of the Werner transfer and obviously we won’t know if it’s for real or not unless it actually happens but I’m curious on where he would fit into our 11 if he did sign or if it would likely mean a change to our formation that’s been so successful for us recently. Or possibly someone else heading out the door to make room?

Believable1 0Unbelievable

26 May 2020 09:17:49
Either a change in formation for certain games or more rotation up top without a drop in quality. If anyone from our forwards is making way, it will be the likes of Origi and Shaq.

Agree0 0Disagree

26 May 2020 14:34:46
Can see Shaquiri, Wilson and Origi leaving personally. Think Werner will join and he along with Minamino and the usual 3 up top gives us good options and leaves some chances for Elliott to get some games.

Agree3 0Disagree

26 May 2020 14:41:54
If Werner does join us, one of Salah, Mane or Firmino is going.

Agree0 0Disagree

26 May 2020 17:45:03
I don’t think any of the front 3 would leave if Werner joins. The front 3 play more or less every game and if they get taken off they get taken off late. That tells me Klopp doesn’t fully trust the reserve forwards. African Nations is still planned for next season so we lose Mo and Sadio to that. Our midfield 3 rotate around quite nicely with very little difference in their output. Imagine having 4 quality Forwards vying for those 3 positions.

Agree3 0Disagree

26 May 2020 18:28:44
I don't think Werner will join us just to be a back up player.

Agree0 0Disagree

26 May 2020 19:28:46
RHLT I don't see that happening, Werner looks nailed on, been going on far to long this now. Shaquiri I think is gone as he wants more game time. Would not be surprised to see Origi go had a good season last season but has not pushed on this season and not done really anything this season when had his chances. Wilson might stay to fill the squad places and help with homegrown.

Agree1 0Disagree

26 May 2020 19:43:08
We can easily sign Werner without sacrificing any of our front three. we will offset most of his fee by selling the fringe attacking players. For the price he'll be a very good signing.

Agree1 0Disagree

26 May 2020 21:54:17
Only way Werner plays on a regular basis is if Firmino is pushed back as a attacking midfielder.

Agree1 0Disagree

27 May 2020 07:30:33
We need Werner now because our front 3 aren’t getting any younger and with African nations coming up Mane and salah gone we need bodies up top origi not done it this year.

Agree2 0Disagree

27 May 2020 09:11:19
I really don’t see any of the current front 3 moving at this time RHLT.
More that Werner allows high class rotation or we can go 4-2-3-1 for instance with, say, Henderson and Fabinho sitting and Bobby withdrawn back to the advanced tip of the midfield and Werner up top. They could even interchange at times.
Two things Klopp is doing with the squad -
1. Strength in-depth and better selection choices
2. Tactical flexibility. 4-3-3 may be the stock selection still, but tweaks in-game and changes for certain opponents is becoming more of a theme.
I think Werner fits into both of the above scenarios.
I hope it happens.

Agree1 0Disagree

27 May 2020 09:54:57
I meant to say 4-2-1-3 but 4-2-3-1 works too lol.
Which sort of proves the point.

Agree0 0Disagree

27 May 2020 20:18:49
It's called rotation. And it has generally taken most of Klopps signings 3-6 months to adapt and get a decent run of games, so i would expect the same with Werner.
