Well at least that's the end of the Ceballos links, he's off to Arsenal on loan.
Who's next on the list? :)

1.) 25 Jul 2019 18:56:04
Sounds like a good deal. Didn’t need him but it has strengthened close opponents.

{Ed001's Note - no he has joined Arsenal, not a close opponent.}

2.) 25 Jul 2019 19:19:18
Ooooh tension in the Ed house, Ed047 won't like that Ed001 :)

{Ed001's Note - he would agree I am sure. He has to or his missus will have words as she is a Liverpool fan.}

3.) 25 Jul 2019 19:49:49
To be honest I’m not that fussed about this, I would rather not do any dealings with Real Madrid.

4.) 26 Jul 2019 13:27:55
Very good ED. We will see, we springboarded quite well after a Europa final loss under a good manager just getting his ideas imbedded. I think Arsenal can improve a lot from last season.

{Ed047's Note - I wish I could argue with Ed01 but sadly I can’t, mainly because she would kick off! 😂

As we are currently having one of our worst seasons under Jurgen it is hard to believe that we are still in the race for CL football even if we don't win the CL this year.
With Spurs, Chelsea, Everton and the Hammers slipping up this weekend we are right back in the mix.
As Jurgen has pointed towards Fabinho being back in midfield there is no reason why we can't go on a bit of a run until the end of the season and secure one of the top four places.

Or is it just that, bar City and us (normally), the rest of the league are $hi&e?

polecat

1.) 15 Mar 2021 06:19:02
If a team can average 2 points per game they’ll usually qualify for the top 4.
City are away, but Leicester and Man Utd are almost at that figure.
I think that the top 3 places are boxed off and Chelsea are not dropping many points under Tuchel so far.
Top 4 for Liverpool is a big ask, I think it’s gone unfortunately.

2.) 15 Mar 2021 07:26:20
We need to win at least 9 of the games left and right now that does not look possible. No point in looking at other teams results, if we can't win our own games.

3.) 15 Mar 2021 08:34:24
We need to "win out" (win all our remaining games) to have any chance at top 4 so to me right now, we are very well on the outside looking in, unfortunately. The best we can do/ hope for is that we try to win every game and finish the season as strongly as we can in the PL. CL? Tough ask BUT you never know.

4.) 15 Mar 2021 09:15:16
The chance is still there, but I think it’s very much against us now. We need to leapfrog several teams, not just one, the chances of several teams all losing form and points and us getting back to winning ways is quite remote.

5.) 15 Mar 2021 10:45:48
chelsea have dropped 6 points out of 15 last 5 matches. that is plenty enough if we are on our game. IF we are on our game.

6.) 15 Mar 2021 11:18:16
I believe we can do it but it may very well have to be a case of winning 10 games in a row. Let’s just see how we do in the next few games before getting out hopes up.

7.) 15 Mar 2021 12:21:16
I’d fancy Leicester and Chelsea to drop points between now and the end of the season. If we can keep Fabinho fit and in centre midfield then we can put a run together. So top four us still doable,

8.) 15 Mar 2021 14:16:44
Listen anything in life is possible you just have to believe I think the only thing in life not possible is for Jose to except defeat gracefully and with dignity just heard him on an interview there on sky stating it wasnt a penalty yesterday but there was contact after the ball had been played as it was in play at the time he was wrong again comments please?

{Ed077's Note - even Lacazette said after the game that Arsenal were lucky to get the pen.}

9.) 15 Mar 2021 16:30:58
He may have said lucky but never said it wasnt listen anywhere else on the field of play with the ball still in play it's a foul so there should be no issues on that regards I totally agree 100% with Michael Oliver on that point alone.

10.) 15 Mar 2021 17:20:52
I thought Lacazette went to kick the ball, completely missed it and kicked the defender's out-stretched foot.

{Ed077's Note - me too.}

11.) 15 Mar 2021 19:18:06
Take up the whistle.

12.) 15 Mar 2021 19:27:27
Langland has lost his password so hi grom Langland 2.
Although I agree that Man City are gone. We all know how quickly winning consistently can turn to losing consistently. I do not think that the current top 4 will be the final top 4.

13.) 16 Mar 2021 08:42:43
Ed77, I did not think that was a penalty either. It was an incidental collision btw both players esp since Lacazette fluffed his lines even before Sanchez got to him.

It was the same thing with Calvert-Lewin and TAA in the Anfield derby. TAA was sitting on the ground after a tackle, he trips over TAA while he is on the ground and gets a pen. Poor officiating.

{Ed077's Note - agreed. When the player who won and scored the pen says he was lucky to get the decision then surely it wasnt much of a pen.}

Minimino just put a defender and the goalkeeper on their bums, great goal.

polecat

1.) 20 Feb 2021 13:15:00
Just wondering what he had to do to get into our team during our recent awful run if form.

2.) 20 Feb 2021 13:29:23
Johnny that is the Jurgens decision and I don't think any of us a qualified to question him.
Minimino needs games but Klopp needs our front three to get their mojo back and playing together is the way to do that.
If Minimino can adjust to the Premier League with Southampton then both him and Jota are part of our future.

3.) 20 Feb 2021 13:40:41
Minamino is now our 5th top scorer in the league this season. Good to see him doing well.

4.) 20 Feb 2021 15:45:21
Polecat - So the fans can’t question the manager anymore? I’m a huge supporter of Klopp and the fantastic job he’s done but no manager is beyond scrutiny.

5.) 20 Feb 2021 16:07:58
Surely this is win/ win for us isn’t it? I don’t see why we’d want to question such a masterstroke.
We have a player who’s struggling to adapt so we send him out on loan and he takes points off our rivals whilst learning to adapt. We then get a much better player for next season after he’s helped us into a second place finish by scoring against the teams we are fighting against.
Genius if you ask me.

6.) 20 Feb 2021 16:21:58
I don't want to sound like I'm giving mini stick as it was a lovely goal, but I think people are blowing it out of proportion, using it a stick to beat the team and manager with. I watched the first half of that game and other then that goal he did not perform well at all, he gave the ball away almost every time he got it with a poor pass, being too slow in his thinking and weak in possession, he even looked a little slow. I don't think we should just be judging player on highlights, then going out of our way to criticise our current squad based on that.

7.) 20 Feb 2021 18:25:41
Don't think it's on the back of one game strange. Remember how well we played when he started for us against Palace? Shame he hasn't been given a fair crack like Phillips.

8.) 20 Feb 2021 21:00:52
DR, The guy is quality. And we all know how good he is cos we all saw it with our very own eyes when he came and ripped our defence to pieces in the CL. That is no longer up for debate, man.

He has shown flashes of brilliance when called upon and the goals he has scored for us and Saints this season are of very high quality. Watch them again. His speed if execution in tight spaces is top notch and his coolness in front of goal vs Chelsea is something you cannot coach.

The question now is whether he can bba viable option we can turn to. His talent and ability as well as ruthlessness in front of goal? IMO, those issues are settled.

9.) 20 Feb 2021 21:08:37
What is the point of having squad if we didn't dropped out of form player.

31 Oct 2020 19:25:35
Well, who still doesn't think Nate Phillips isn't up to it?

polecat

1.) 31 Oct 2020 19:36:24
Personally I think he’s well worth it, didn’t let us down against Everton and (according to Ed002, which is as good a recommendation as you can get), he was well thought of in Germany, had a decent game tonight as far as I’m concerned.

2.) 31 Oct 2020 19:40:47
Hats off to Phillips tonight. Won everything in the air. Jota and Shaq changed the game for us in fairness.

3.) 31 Oct 2020 19:40:53
Really solid game from the lad I'm delighted for him! Great win, knew it was going to be a slog!

Thought Jota an Shaqiri were excellent, changed the game. That pass from Shaqiri sumptuous! In fairness to the lad, if Messi or someone plays the 2 through balls he has in the past 2 games people are wetting themselves!

4.) 31 Oct 2020 19:44:20
No kidding polecat. I thought he was outstanding.

5.) 31 Oct 2020 19:56:30
Antonio’s absence for West Ham Utd was really key but fair play to Phillips, did nothing wrong and got the better of his man more often than not.
Lovely ball by Shaqiri that and good run and finish by Jota.
If Shaqiri can stay fit, he’s got a bit of magic in his boots.

6.) 31 Oct 2020 20:06:10
Hmmmm, I thought Gini was good. Philips did OK, big Haller helped mind. He's shocking.

7.) 31 Oct 2020 20:14:26
Nat Philips, well done sir. We need someone to win the headers. Well played, guys. Jota has blended in very well. But good to see Shaqiri coming back into contention again and mostly importantly working hard :)

8.) 01 Nov 2020 09:42:47
May played very well and thoroughly deserved MOTM. However one swallow does not a Summer make, and there will surely be tougher tests ahead starting with our next league fixture. So I will reserve judgement until he has had a decent run of games.

9.) 01 Nov 2020 12:06:55
Yeah credit to Phillips he had a great game but that west ham attack was suited to him, it doesn't mean he's now ready to play against every team with different threats so let's not get carried away based on that game. Naby keita was MOTM on his debut too, Alberto Moreno had everyone saying he was the man after his first outing. Martin Kelly I think was MOTM on his debut too. Philips could be very useful when up against the likes of Burnley or Fulham but we don't know yet how he'd defend against more expansive attacks that 90% of our opponents can offer instead of what west ham were limited to yesterday.

Anybody still think Upamecano is the answers to our defensive problems? Lazy isn't the word I'd use.
BTW that was the worst display of passing from RBL that I've seen in years.

More from Jurgen Klopp: "I'm 53. Since I've been in professional football, the Champions League has been there. My aim was always to coach a team there. I have no issues with the Champions League.

"I like the competitive aspect of football. I like that West Ham might play in the Champions League. I don't want them to because we want to but I like they have the chance. What can I say? It's not easy.

"What I want to say as well, I've heard a few things but what I really don't like, Liverpool football club is much more than some decisions. The most important part of football are the supporters and the team. We have to make sure nothing gets between that. I've heard there are banners but the players didn't do anything wrong. We have to all stick together. We can show nobody has to walk alone in these moments. There are things to sort but nothing to do with the football or the relationship between the supporters and the team.

"In tough times you have to show you stick together. It doesn't mean you have to agree with everything but again the boys did nothing wrong. I want to make sure everyone knows that.

"I understand it. I am in a different position. I don't have all informations. I don't know exactly why the 12 clubs did it. I know some things will change with football in the future. Some things have to change in football that is for sure.

"Usually you have to prepare these kinds of things, it takes time. "

From the BBC website

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, speaking to Sky Sports: "My feelings didn't change. My opinion didn't change [from when he has criticised Super League suggestions in the past]. I heard for the first time about it yesterday. I was trying to prepare for a difficult game.

"We got some information, not a lot. Most of the things in the newspapers. It's a tough one. People are not happy with it, I can understand it. I can't say a lot more because we were not involved in the process - not the players, not me - we didn't know about it. We will have to wait how it develops. "

Nat Phillips contract expires in June and I haven't seen anywhere of him being offered a new contract and with the new CB additions why would he sign one? I wouldn't be surprised if he might already have offers from other Premier League teams.

The club is starting to transition to the next great Liverpool team so over the next few transfer windows (once this C.V. recedes) we are going to see some of our stars leaving and new future stars coming in.
Without doubt Mane, Salah and two or three more will be leaving as the are reaching their 30's.

scouse john

there would be no point in calling it that it need a more. American type name linked to the strip colour like the Red Socks. Then in a few years it could go from being the Liverpool Red Socks to the Dublin Red Socks and a few years later the Tel Aviv Red Socks. The name has to be transferable or should I say sell-able. These franchises won't be cheap!

No a fan of the idea myself.
I also think FIFA and specially UEFA will do their utmost to stop it by banning players from internationals or something like that, though you will see a hell of a lot of players following the $$$$$ regardless.
They will likely suck up all the TV money meaning a lot of small clubs around Europe going out of business.

polecat

{Ed002's Note - I have explained the ramifications but you seem to be dealing with this like it is so-me thing new and agreed. The reality is that change and progression will come and common sense is that a solution needs to be found that is the best for those concerned.}

Jonesy I am 100% with you on that. It is embarrassing.
People go on about forwards "going down at the slightest touch" and pundits spend hours of TV time whining about whether x or y player was fouled or not but not once have I saw one discussing the multitude of dives by defenders and midfielder and this current C.V. of face holding and loud cries.
We need a ref with balls!
Everyone should watch ITV4 reruns of the Big Match to see how football is actually a contact sport.
