Salary cap anyone?

In theory yes it's a good idea but anything that is implemented by UEFA is doomed to fail, weather that's due to incompetence or corruption.
One draw back of a salary cap though would be u end up with very average players commanding even more of a fortune than they are already on. Sort of like minimum wage, before long a coffee maker will be on £12 an hour, in which case why learn a trade.

2.) 26 Apr 2023 19:30:51
What sparked this idea?

Love the idea but then who keeps/ where goes all the money not spent on wages? Sure as hell wouldn’t be fans or down the pyramid.

Also, Capped at what? Transfer fee cap as well? I don’t think you’d ever reach an international consensus and FIFA/ UEFA definitely wouldn’t impose one.

{Ed002's Note - I think you rather minsunderstand the situation.}

Not for me I’m already struggling to fill the car up. Could do with 10 grand a year more at least.

4.) 26 Apr 2023 20:42:45
Who does he play for?

5.) 26 Apr 2023 21:46:10
Is a salary cap basic pay say 200,000 a week. But still extras added say like goals assist performances ect or just 200,000 a week for instance.

6.) 26 Apr 2023 22:29:19
Why bother just have the Arab owned clubs giving big "gifts" out to players.

7.) 27 Apr 2023 00:03:43
I think I misunderstood as well. Didn’t see that be coming…but then I never expect them to do anything proper for the sake of fairer competition. So then, that makes me think, why now? What’s their angle?

8.) 27 Apr 2023 04:01:07
A salary cap is an appalling idea and absolutely not the way to go in order to ensure more sporting fairness. If footballers are paid more than they are worth, it is because clubs like Man City and PSG pay utterly obscene salaries to their players using funds sourced from variables with no relation to the game, meaning proper market forces are not organically limiting remuneration like they do in almost every other industry. If the finances of football were actually regulated properly in an environment where administrators were not utterly corrupt, there’d be no need for a salary cap as remuneration would largely reflect a player’s worth towards a club’s success.
It is also immoral to artificially limit the earning potential of actors in a one specific industry. The likelihood of bankers, managers and scientists ever being subject to a salary cap is almost nil. A lot of footballers come from poor backgrounds, and would likely still be there were it not for their inexplicable talent.

That's right, let's give him the respect he's earned by bringing success to the club but at the same time peddle any scurrilous rumours that we come across.

Not always the case Kew17. The digraph 'll'is sometimes pronounced as a soft 'j' or even as a 'sh'. Today's remedial lesson over.

It really annoys me when ill informed keyboard warriors talk about 'dead wood' in such a disrespectful way when talking about Liverpool players some of whom have given sterling service to the club. Wo needs trolls with supporters like this?

We're about as likely to sign Borella as I am to accept a cheque from Boris Johnson.

Ideally there would be two-way communication so that those who see themselves as best qualified could off advice on treatment.

Jurgen Klopp is a great manager and more importantly an even better man and we are luck to have had him with us for so long. Some posters have alluded to ulterior motives for his departure but I believe it his integrity that has lead him to his decision to leave when he could still enjoy the accolades that someone driven by ego would find hard to resist.

By leaving now when he feels he will not have the energy to keep going at his current intensity allows us to recruit a successor who will inherit a team is excellent shape rather than on that has gone into decline. Although some of us posters find it difficult to imagine a life without LFC at the centre of it I wish him well and am sure there will always be a special place in his heart for the city, the club and us fans.

I suspect that Jurgen made his announcement today because FSG are approaching replacements and could not gaurantee that other clubs would maintain confidentiality.

Kemlyncat

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of FSG approaching any replacements.}

Best goal difference in The Premiership and lowest goals conceded - seems to be going fairly well without ditching players for shiny new ones.
