From O JOGO in Portugal.10th June.

"Liverpool and Benfica are negotiating the transfer of the striker, which is imminent and could be closed in the coming days. Britons offer 80 million euros plus 20 for goals

Liverpool have already advanced to negotiations with Benfica with a view to signing Darwin and, according to O JOGO, puts a fixed amount of 80 million euros on the table at this stage plus 20 for goals, with the player being able to become the highest signing in the history of the reds, beating the 85M€ of Van Djik. ".

I'm really not sure about Nunez. It's a lot of money and I have reservations about his overall quality for £85m.

Half excited, half anxious about this one. In Klopp we trust.

2.) 10 Jun 2022 13:45:43
U won’t get sacked for signing him viceroy so relax.

3.) 10 Jun 2022 14:08:49
Calm down Viceroy we’ve all said the same at one point or another.

4.) 10 Jun 2022 14:41:31
I could be anyone, Jay. You could be speaking to John W. Henry right now.

5.) 10 Jun 2022 15:36:54
You can be anything you want to be Viceroy. John W. Henry, is that your drag queen name?

6.) 10 Jun 2022 16:58:59
He is Viceroy Jar Jar Binks.

7.) 10 Jun 2022 16:59:47
Viceroy we all had worries over our last signing coming from a league not as strong as ours so let's see how this boy turns out you can always say i told you so can't you buddy.

8.) 10 Jun 2022 19:17:57
Even though i think the Portugese league is a weak league apart from 3 or 4 teams, players coming from there usually do well in the PL and LA Liga.

9.) 10 Jun 2022 19:50:09
Hes a class act already. jeez you lot worrying about a top class striker in the mould of torres joining us. Wish we'd had this negativity about keita before we signed him. Nunez is going to smash this league.

More Internet rumours nonsense.
First: Klopp is not leaving.
Second: Lijinders to be next manager.

Somebody trying to unsettle Citeh?

Yuri01

1.) 10 Mar 2024 13:34:34
Utter nonsense but we're about to see a whole lot more.

2.) 10 Mar 2024 15:28:48
Salah, in all honesty, we see a whole bunch of nonsense all year round. ??.

3.) 10 Mar 2024 18:30:30
If Paul Joyce didn't say it then, it didn't happen. That's what I do.

22 Apr 2023 02:42:40
Many of the midfielders mentioned in Liverpool transfers will not come to us for a host of reasons. Richer clubs, warmer destinations etc
Instead we should concentrate on the players who really want to move to us and the young ones we actually have on our books. Elliott, Carvalho, Trent etc. Bellingham has his heart set on Liverpool, if reports can be believed. Mount is unlikely to leave Chelsea and a number of other targets are looking at big salaries and Champions League football.

Yuri01

1.) 22 Apr 2023 08:00:06
No sign no one?

2.) 22 Apr 2023 08:34:16
So you're saying kidnapping is out?

3.) 22 Apr 2023 09:43:06
Mount has deleted all of his social media accounts apparently.

Not sure if that’s a sign of him about to jump ship and trying to avoid the personal backlash to some extent.

4.) 22 Apr 2023 10:09:06
Carvalho cannot get a kick with our current Manger, so many on here and outside LFC sang his praises as a top top player and wonderful talent and in a declining Liverpool, from second to mid table, he can't get a game. Then we hear he can't play x position but TAA can change position, Hendo can play fullback, CB, mid, Milner too, the front three are moved all around but Carvalho can't? If he's good enough he will be able to adapt, chap should move on and put this transfer down as a bad career move, I'm sure he'll be wonderful in another top team and sure we can co. e on here and listen to posters saying Klopp made him better during his time at LFC.
Don't waste money buying any more prospects as the club/ manager/ Pep/ FSG (choose your target) don't and can't seem to bring them through like a Dortmund or Ajax can, spend the money or guaranteed experienced starters. And we can continue the verbal about all the worldies coming through the academy that will step up 'next season' like we've been saying for 7+ years.

5.) 22 Apr 2023 11:31:23
Maybe he is adapting, in training. Isn’t that part of what it’s for? Surely you don’t just throw a player into a new position/ role and hope it works out.

Maybe he’ll play more next season, or be loaned to a club where he can play as a false 9 (if that’s his future position) .

6.) 22 Apr 2023 17:28:46
Yuri01 if that was the ONLY way to sign players or the only thing players care about when they wwanna switch clubs, NO club would be able to sign anyone.

Take a day of, bro. Your troll game is as weak as a soup sandwich hence, it desperately needs HELLA work.

01 Sep 2021 00:46:47
It is all about money. Chelsea have been cannot. Liverpool not so, which surprises me as FSG are usually smart?

Man City continue to be strong.
Chelsea have brought in some good players.
Man U have a strong team, on paper.
Tottenham still have Kane.

Liverpool already have an injury. Bobby will be out for about 6 weeks. Another crop of injuries like last year and we will struggle to get fourth. We have a few players that pick up injuries.

Any prediction in football is difficult, especially about the future.

At the moment, I look at the strength of teams I have mentioned, but do not feel confident.
I just hope I am wrong and instead pleasantly surprised.

Yuri01

1.) 01 Sep 2021 03:00:27
Yes, you're wrong Yuri. We'll compete this season. Bobby was never going to play week in week out, do that's not a big deal. Elliott can play as a left forward if needed and Salah as a 9. Taki is there, and Origi isn't dead!
No matter how much we whine now, this is our team for the season, so let's get behind the boys. I don't think we deserve Nat Phillips but what a luxury we have to have that quality probably as fifth choice!
Again, I'm very confident we'll win a trophy this season with these boys! Let's just go one game at a time and we'll see what happens. When was the last time we complained or debated whether Robertson should have started a game of football? Yet, many did a few days ago based on the emergence of the Greek Scouser as a solid option for Robbo. There are so many positives on every area of the pitch if you're willing to look!
Walk on. YNWA.

2.) 01 Sep 2021 04:12:26
It’s interesting how Liverpool supporters only see the negatives in our team and only see the positives in our rivals.
Liverpool, have the best defender in the world back, still have Salah.
City, lost one of the best strikers in Premier League history and didn’t replace him.
Chelsea, reliant on one striker, their highest scorer last season had 7 goals.
United, lack a defensive midfielder, still have Ole.
Spurs, they are Spurs.

3.) 01 Sep 2021 07:58:34
I agree with the replies, but, still do not feel confident.
We missed out on Damsgaard and Saul.
A pity.
The defence seems strong enough but this year I fear the forward play may be the week point.
Salah cannot do it all.
Yet, I remember Minamino a very good player for Rapid Vienna. Surely that is still there?

Text prediction typo: Chelsea have been cannot.

21 Jul 2021 02:02:29
Normally, I am a positive person.

At the moment I feel rather negative. I am sure it will pass.

The trouble is, it is all about money.

We don't have enough of the stuff.
Unlike City, Utd and Chelski.

Oh well, soldier on.

Yuri01

1.) 21 Jul 2021 08:13:36
You're more worried about money than what we do on the pitch?
Maybe following the wrong sport?

2.) 21 Jul 2021 07:42:55
We have a great squad and don't forget Thiago, jota and Tsimikas have not played in front of a crowd yet, will be like new signings, we won't finish lower than second so don't worry pal.

{Ed025's Note - and that could be a problem MR, thiago and jota stank the house out at the euros mate and maybe they are intimidated by crowds?..

3.) 21 Jul 2021 08:29:15
Bit of an exaggeration there Ed25 mate. Thiago barely played and Portugal as a whole were very hit and miss and Jota still got a goal and assist.

I’d rather have those two than Townsend. how well did he do in the euros mate? 😉.

{Ed025's Note - he has been self isolating from the international scene for a number of years now triangle.. :)

4.) 21 Jul 2021 08:56:04
Why are you worried about something you've absolutely no control over?

5.) 21 Jul 2021 10:10:07
OP, if with all the positivity and trophies this team has achieve over the past three years (ahead of all the clubs you mentioned) and you still have something to be negative about then, there is nothing anyone can do for you.

Also comparing us to teams who have significant financial power than we do yet have finished below us consistently for the better part of the last 4 years (bar City), is you allowing yourself to be pessimistic and negative. If you are focusing on the wrong things esp things you can’t control then, good luck being positive about anything in the future.

6.) 21 Jul 2021 11:36:18
You do realise we’ve already spent a lot of money on very good players and have one of the highest wage bills in the world? Also that our squad is bloated, with non-homegrown spots at a premium meaning we definitely have to move some players on?

Sounds like VVVV’s and Ed025’s ramblings have got in your head mate.

24 Apr 2021 14:33:27
What has happened to Mane and Firmino, such a loss of form?
Liverpool can't hit a bull's bum with a banjo at the moment.

No top 4 this time. We might end up 6th or 7th at this rate.

I know there are few fans able to attend, but that is only part of it.

Disappointed.

Yuri01

1.) 24 Apr 2021 14:35:55
I think Ngog would do a better job for us now than Mane is doing!

2.) 24 Apr 2021 14:41:34
I thought Mane and Firmino had good games (except for not scoring) . Jota was the worst of the lot.

3.) 24 Apr 2021 14:42:38
We don't deserve top 4 place.
At least the argument is over whether this a great team. Its not. Do really great teams blip last a whole season?
This poor attitude was evident since we mathematically won the title last season. Its no blip.

4.) 24 Apr 2021 14:47:50
Firmino played quite well today I thought. We don't deserve top 4. What positions get into the Europa league and then the new Mikey House competition.

5.) 24 Apr 2021 14:49:14
You can add Salah and Jota to that list as well. Probably the worst games I’ve seen Jota play. Bobby can thread a ball through the eye of a needle then the next 5 passes he can’t find a player in a red shirt 4 yards away. Salah scored a lovely goal but could have had 3 or 4 and Mane looks like he could have been on the pitch on his own all day and wouldn’t have scored. We have zero goal threat from any of our midfielders and despite his energy Robbo struggles to beat the first man with a cross. Defence today we were like a revolving door and our defensive line was all over the shop. It’s been a terrible season and since Christmas it’s been sh#t. I’ve come to the decision where I am going to cancel all of my sports channels and try to stream games or even listen to it on the radio.

I will always love and support this club but I am no longer willing to put my hand in my pocket to pay the extortionate prices to fund this shower of sh#t.

6.) 24 Apr 2021 14:56:29
Mané’s head has been turned. He has been awful for months. Firmino’s finishing has been awful since last season. Time to blood a youngster, shame Elliott is on loan.

7.) 24 Apr 2021 14:59:57
Liverpool attempted 54 shots in their last two games, scoring just twice. But people will say stats prove nothing. This one does.

8.) 24 Apr 2021 15:11:08
Bobby as been poor for last 18 months but gets picked every game, gini as been poor for last 3 or 4 months, mane poor last 6 months but get picked every single game, so Klopp should be questioned.

9.) 24 Apr 2021 15:30:53
Plus add to my comment we have far too many passengers in this squad. Just look at the minutes they have contributed this season. Some of them have been paid millions of pounds for the equivalent of 2-6 games of football.

Yes we can argue that they aren’t being selected but the question is why aren’t they being selected.

The answer can only be they are worse in training than the players who aren’t producing on the pitch or Klopp is wrong by not picking them.

It’s either they are not good enough or Klopps to blame for the team selection.

After seeing what some have produced coming off the bench I know what my answer is.

10.) 24 Apr 2021 15:48:47
If Mane's head has been turned, so has Wijnaldum's.

Going from such a successful season to one that relatively is poor.
Questions must be asked.

11.) 24 Apr 2021 15:49:27
We have had 146 shots on goal at Anfield since January and we have only scored 4. That’s a 2% conversation rate, which is shocking!

12.) 24 Apr 2021 15:50:25
I'm starting to get a little worried about Jota, tbh.

I really am starting to wonder if Jota is better utilised as a super sub because those seem to be his best games. Arriving when the opposition defence grow tired mentally and physically, using his pace to be direct and break through the defensive line.

Mane and Firmino, it is clear they are really struggling and that one, or both, should be sold in order to create funds. A rebuild is impossible without Champions League football, so, surely Harvey Elliott needs to be considered and integrated into the team. Klopp clearly has little time for Ox, Shaq, etc. Might as well give an opportunity to a youngster who will be desperate to play and impress.

13.) 24 Apr 2021 16:33:52
Further to my comments about 'Head turning' of players.
The ESL issue must be involved somewhere. Of course we are not privy to behind the scene events, but I would bet ESL and money promises made has had an effect.
I don't have any evidence, it is just a feeling I have.
I am sure more information about the ESL situation will come out.
Also this is not an issue that has or will go away. The whole ESL thing will return, soon enough.
Vigilance is needed.

{Ed002's Note - No, it had no impact on the Liverpool players.}

14.) 24 Apr 2021 16:44:34
Esl was announced Sunday. Players have been crap since Dec. It’s like me blaming all my failed GCSE’s 23 years ago on the ESL 🤣.

15.) 24 Apr 2021 16:53:07
I watched the game and didn't see Gini untill about the 30th minute.
Some skipper?

16.) 24 Apr 2021 17:02:17
Yuri, we were this poor long before any talk about ESL. Not having Fabinho in midfield is a license for anyone to simply run through our midfield. Add to that the fact we barely score any goals and he’s a recipe for disaster.

17.) 24 Apr 2021 17:19:08
You cannot say this wasn't a great team. I think people are forgetting too quickly the last 3 years. Yes the front 3 need a freshen up, but come one, this team has been the best football team on the planet for 3 years. It happens, Fergie constantly refreshed his squads over the years. The real question, is can we freshen ours successfully and get back to winning ways.

18.) 24 Apr 2021 17:39:49
Correct Stuie, but it will very much be dependent on who we can bring in. We need at least 5 players.

19.) 24 Apr 2021 17:50:01
It’s very simple play the players in their best positions fab in defence is slow and invites players to run at him, would Davis have done any worse in the last two games had he of played we don’t know. He had no choice but to play Phillips a dozen games ago now he’s our best defender.
Last two results down to JK I’m afraid.

20.) 24 Apr 2021 18:00:09
People criticising Jota while Firmino produces that rubbish? Cudnt believe he stayed on the pitch. the least effective attacker in the premier league this season, and that's no exaggeration.

21.) 24 Apr 2021 18:10:36
WOW!
Some unbelievable reading there.
We drew a game. It happens.
It’s posts like these that really do go against everything that’s just about left for us a team and a club.
It’s been a bad season. We have suffered with injuries, the owners have shown the true colours that we have been told from the start what there all about. There here to make money. They are business men. It’s what they do!
Jota missed a few chances. At least he was in those positions to miss them! Mane is out of form. Everything he’s done for us and now he’s on a bad run we should kick him out. Firmino is doing what he does. We know this! Didn’t see the Firmino out shouts when we was champions league finalists and running Man City to the title and winning the title the season after!
I’m seriously bemused to all the negativity from us. Supporters of the greatest team in the world! That’s my belief. That’s my passion. That’s what I have given blood sweat and tears for over the years.
We are LIVERPOOL football club. We pick ourselves up. Dust our selves off and we go again. In Klopp I trust.
In Liverpool I believe
YNWA
Seems that some of the posts would let a few players walk out the Anfield gates alone.
Not the Liverpool way.

22.) 24 Apr 2021 18:53:48
Totally agree with you YNWA.

23.) 24 Apr 2021 18:54:52
We have all given blood sweat and tears Gaz827. I also respect your opinion as we are all entitled to one. However, I’m bemused how you’re bemused about the “negativity”. People are just dejected and disappointed at what has happened to our club over the last however many months. Did you expect exuberance and overwhelming positivity?

24.) 24 Apr 2021 19:07:18
Every singe football club will always have fans who are glasses half full or glasses half empty or even full or completely empty, everyone is entitled to their opinion. What I do notice though is the the ivory tower fans are the ones that seem to get the most upset about the opinions that differ to theirs.

25.) 24 Apr 2021 19:13:53
Gaz that is not true about Firmino either, he scored only one home goal last season plenty of criticism came his way. It’s just now more obvious how bad he is playing as other players levels have dropped like a stone. The passenger ed25 calls him, hope ed is doing well.

{Ed001's Note - Ed025 lost his phone last week, hence going missing. Luckily it was a quiet week in the world of football so he missed nothing.....}

26.) 24 Apr 2021 19:35:34
Thought Bobby had a good go today and didn't have a bad game at all. Jota was frustrated, mane is off and i forgot Gini was playing when he touched the ball 30 mins in. We give up way too many chances and don't take ours. Game should have been over by half time. Just the way the season has gone.

27.) 24 Apr 2021 19:17:22
Absolutely not Alonso but to start rolling heads of players who were good enough to win the league last season is a step to far.
A simple issue today. We didn’t put a chance away after Salah scored.
Not a mention on here that Firmino slid on the 18yd line to stop a potential shot on goal.
It’s mostly negativity over players.
We have had games were we haven’t created.

We can’t be there, but we can be there for them.

28.) 24 Apr 2021 20:20:34
Reference to me on the ivory tower comment?

Just astounded that because it hasn’t gone your way you feel the need to hound people out of the club.

Reality check is guys and girls. All we didn’t do today was put the ball in the back of the net more than once!

Guys and girls. Have a pleasant evening.
I’m going to admire the view from the ivory tower.

29.) 24 Apr 2021 23:27:19
Today was a classic example where the underdog just stays in the game for as long as possible, waits for fatigue or nerves to kick in near the end and takes a solitary chance to walk away with a point. Both Managers would have told the players exactly the same thing. It’s incumbent on Liverpool to score a second to kill the game but as the game wore on even with a lucky VAR we didn’t learn.
The big big issue for me is mentality, last year we were the mentality monsters, now it has evaporated to such a level that we need to question how to get it back. Is it new players? Is it coaching? Is it lack of fans getting behind the team?
It was the mentality or lack of ruthlessness that cost us here today and Leeds and Real Madrid and so on and so on. If I was Mane, I would be training and training to get over this slump, you don’t need to hire Fowler or Rush, they’ll come for free to offer advice and tips. All I finally want to say is next year, I would love to not be involved in Europe if it isn’t the CL so we can just concentrate on the league.

30.) 24 Apr 2021 20:17:33
Good to know about ed25. Top fella. Probably take him a few months to work out how to use his new phone 🤣.

Ed002-

On what do you base your preference for Slot?

What evidence do you have that he is a good guy and coach?

Ed002, the problems run much deeper than a Salah replacement.

Yuri01

{Ed002's Note - I have explained that Diaz may depart as well. Clearly the fanbase has turned on Nunez - which will simply make matters worse.}

Ed002. You have outlined my fears for many months. We could well end up with a threadbare defence.

All this could have been avoided with better planning. Especially with FSG keeping a firm grip on their purse.

Yuri01

{Ed002's Note - This only deals with the midfield. Liverpool do not have a threadbare defence.}

All.
I haven't posted my thoughts to be popular.
Yes, indeed I have already written off Slot.
Yet, that is my assessment. An average Dutch coach, probably a nice bloke but Mr Average Guy.
I am just going with my gut feeling.
Thank you anyway for putting up with my grumpy feelings.

I would probably agree with a certain Mr Maureen-ho.

Young modern managers maybe the way to go?
Or as Mario Zagalo the Brasilian manager used to say:"Who am I to tell Pele how to play football? "

Who am I to tell Liverpool who should be the next manager?
I am doing it, but it isn't Slot. Even though he is likely a nice man.

We cannot get Alonso or Amorim. Therefore, one grumpy to another. Hey Jose. Come over here and prove you can do it. I know that is what you want. You have enough trophies to prove it.

From my point of view I dislike Slot.
My opinion, my view.
I am certain he will fail and quickly.
I had a similar feeling about Brendan Rogers but not so intensely.
Following Juergen will be a mammoth task for any manager.
I don't like Slot's system at all.
There is definitely unease in the camp with Juergen leaving. I don't find this surprising.
I am biased. I don't like Dutch football or their managers. I have many reasons for what I believe will be a difficult coming period.
I don't have the attitude we must get behind the team no matter what. If I don't like something I will say so and not blindly follow.
Therefore if I dislike a direction I will say it, unconcerned about popularity.
Fasten your seat belts it is going to be a bumpy ride.
I just get visions of a once smiling Slot, standing in disbelief with his jaw on the deck, clueless to the events he surveys.
My opinion, just my opinion.

I don't live in your perfect world but you are definitely entitled to your opinion. When that is denied we are all in trouble. Unfortunately the world appears to be heading that way?
I have dealt with plenty of 'Yes-Men'. Cooperation should be mutual and not imposed. Take the Independent free thinkers from history and not much is less. You speak a bit like management-man yourself or an academic liberal.
Different views are important. Whomever takes over from Juergen Klopp will have an extremely difficult task. Things should continue for a bit because of his legacy. Then who knows?
Would Citeh be as good without Guardiola?

I look at things from a different angle. For personal reasons I dislike the American sports style of management structure. Edwards the boss, then a sports director and a football coach equivalent to a school P. E. Teacher. Not to forget managers for the dinner ladies and the tea swindle. Perhaps this structure will be very successful?
I prefer the old school style of a Klopp, Dalglish, Benitez, Paisley and finally the man who built the bedrock. Bill Shankly.
My way of looking at things. I have dealt with American style management that wants yes men and not strong minded independent types. They like their system.
I like Xabi Alonso and Ruebin Amorim because of my Sporting CP connections.
Good luck anyway. The world of football is changing.
