It's Pedro Chirivela not Sepp sorry.

1.) 28 Sep 2019 10:36:20
What on earth possessed us to field Chirivella without making sure his paperwork was in order?

Did we not know about it or did we just not bother? Is Rick Parry back running our club's admin department or something?

2.) 28 Sep 2019 17:56:00
I also don’t know from a football perspective why we bought him on and not Kane, Chirivella should of left the club in the summer and not releasing him will block opportunities for others.

Lewis could of been given an opportunity in midfield base.

3.) 28 Sep 2019 20:01:46
There were offers for Chirivella. He declined to leave.

4.) 29 Sep 2019 01:08:04
I’ve heard it has been triggered.

5.) 29 Sep 2019 13:22:11
"Should have" and "could have" Southern Red, just saying.

24 Apr 2019 17:39:47
Saw a lot of rumours that Van Dijk has won PFA player of the season and that it will be announced tomorrow.

1.) 24 Apr 2019 17:57:56
Had it won by Xmas really didn't he! impeccable.

2.) 24 Apr 2019 18:12:18
I just read the same.

3.) 24 Apr 2019 23:07:37
He won it by a country mile .
what a player .

Hi ed001

Hope you are well. Any idea if negotiations have started regarding a new contract for Gini?

{Ed001's Note - no, but I do expect him to get a new one.}

1.) 03 Apr 2019 11:55:23
Do you think he's been a good buy ed since we've had him?
Seems to of stepped up a bit this year.

{Ed001's Note - yes, he has proven himself to be a key player this season.}

2.) 03 Apr 2019 13:38:41
Looks like buying Keita for a vast sum has brought Gini to life. Needs more goals though, our midfield feels very light in that respect!

3.) 03 Apr 2019 19:58:40
I agree, if we play two go Hendo Gini or Fabinho, there’s no reason why the others can’t be More attacking, at least a ‘fill the box’ type of cm.

Hi ed001

I hope you are well. I asked in early October whether the club see Lewis as Moreno' s replacement or if we would sign a replacement but it was too early to tell and I said I would again in March (It was under my old user name Oubaas can Zyl)

So I therefore ask if we see Lewis as this option or are we looking to sign a left back? If so who do the club have in mind?

Thank you for your knowledge and insight.

{Ed001's Note - it is looking like it will be a signing as things stand mate. Someone like Aaron Martin seems to be the favourite. A player whose contract is running down. I can't remember who else was suggested but it is not seen as a massive priority, so it will be someone who is near the end of a contract or out of contract, most likely. Unless Moreno decides to stay, there is still a contract offer for him on the table.}

1.) 20 Mar 2019 09:16:52
Aaron Martin from League 2 side Exeter Ed?

{Ed002's Note - Espanyol, but Mainz has an option to buy him in the summer.}

2.) 20 Mar 2019 09:17:25
Google Aaron Martin and it was returning the chap from Exeter City and I was sat there wondering what was happening for a moment. Then I see there's a young chap from Mainz!

{Ed002's Note - Espanyol, but Mainz has an option to buy.}

3.) 20 Mar 2019 09:40:26
Was hoping we wouldn’t be looking at Div2 players Ed lol. Anyone else in the frame then for LB, not heard his name mentioned on here before tbh.

4.) 20 Mar 2019 15:35:45
hahaha. Yes the Spain U21 international Aaron Martin, not the 29 year old Exeter City centre-back Aaron Martin, with all due respect to him. :)

Other notable young left-backs with contracts expiring in 2020 include Hertha's Maximilian Mittelstädt who's having a good season and Rennes' Ramy Bensebaini, who I saw against Arsenal and looked decent if unspectacular.

5.) 20 Mar 2019 16:17:25
Thank you so much ed001.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}

02 Feb 2019 14:39:26
Hi Ed001

Based on the amount of right wingers we have (lack of natural left wingers) coupled with the eventual need to add English players to the squad. do we hold any interest in Sancho and in your opinion would he be a good signing?

{Ed001's Note - we have Wilson and Kent who are left wingers who will be back for next season. Look Sancho has done really well against tired legs in a league where players get more time and space than in England. Until those kind of performances are produced when he starts, then he is not ready.

As for interest, I am sure the club will take a look at him, but we have shown no genuine interest, nor should we when you consider the amount of money he would cost.}

1.) 02 Feb 2019 20:04:14
Agree with the need to get a right footed left inside forward in the summer (could well be a player who is flexible across this role and CF), but don’t know if Jadon is a prudent purchase given his likely price after Dortmund sold pulisic.

2.) 03 Feb 2019 08:41:26
Thanks for the reply Ed001

When I have seen Wilson he has been on the right wing but I haven't watched him regularly so you might be right about him playing on the left.

Regarding Kent I feel his future lies elsewhere.

{Ed001's Note - they both can play either flank, though you may be right about Kent.}

Hi ed01

Do you perhaps know of if El Hadji Douif had any psychological issues that could excuse his behaviour over the years?

It seems he has an obsession with disrespecting Liverpool at every opportunity which can't be normal. Seems like someone who never takes responsibility for his actions.

{Ed001's Note - yes he is a complete and utter bell.}

1.) 11 Oct 2019 18:22:39
If being a total bell is a psychological issue then I have missed out on years of disability benefits.

2.) 11 Oct 2019 18:35:05
He clearly needs some counselling.

He dislikes Liverpool more than Gary Neville, which is obviously very unhealthy when he has to live with the fact that he regrettably once wore the shirt.

A really horrible human being.

3.) 11 Oct 2019 20:45:31
Think you forgot to “end” that comment Ed.

{Ed001's Note - good point, so I did.}

4.) 11 Oct 2019 22:29:14
A friend of mine once told me that even some of the Senegalese are fed up with him. Word on the street was that he once ran his gob at a nightclub, messed withe wrong crew and got his arse handed to him on a plate. One would think he would have learned his lesson. Alas, he is still as Ed01 said, a right bell end.

5.) 12 Oct 2019 00:14:47
Still can't forgive him for stealing my seat on a train back from London when he was playing for Leeds. Complete asshole who got his ass handed to him by the train guard that day. Some players don't deserve to have worn the shirt.

6.) 11 Oct 2019 23:36:11
Neville is just a pantomime villain, but he at least respects us as rivals.

7.) 12 Oct 2019 11:34:28
He's got massive issues with Gerrard also. Just Embarrasses himself trying to suggest he was better than Stevie, cringeworthy.

22 Jul 2019 08:11:55
Awful tackle on Larouci. Hope he will be okay.

1.) 22 Jul 2019 10:44:09
That wasn’t a tackle IMO - it was blatant kick out at Larouci out of frustration that he didn’t stop play and Larouci is lucky it didn’t break his leg.

It should be treated as assault pure and simple, and he should be given severe consequences otherwise you just endorse players hurting each other under the guise of a poor tackle.

2.) 22 Jul 2019 11:48:32
No worse than Tommy Smith or Graeme Souness used to do in pre-season to liven up the game. Down off the high horse lads.

3.) 22 Jul 2019 11:56:39
It was an absolute disgusting challenge that could of broken the kids leg. What a ridiculous response Irishman.

4.) 22 Jul 2019 12:46:04
Its 2019 Irishman, not the 1980,s! It wasnt a great tackle by any stretch and the elbow on Wilson in the first have was unnecessary in a #"friendly" game.

5.) 22 Jul 2019 13:01:50
for me should be a 10 game ban could have easily broken the kids leg, And finished his career and for an 18 year old kid could have changed his life with all his plans to be a footballer taken away from him. The velocity of the kick was a disgrace. he put that much force into the kick that both his legs where of there floor. For a friendly I just did not get the way Sevilla was playing it was like it was a cup final.

6.) 22 Jul 2019 13:31:05
Is it 2019?

7.) 22 Jul 2019 13:55:13
Bring back the Thumbs Down, Ed. I reckon Irishman would set a new record.

8.) 22 Jul 2019 14:19:11
Sevilla played that game like it was a Hockey final, I was really shocked by how Banega came out flying into people.

9.) 22 Jul 2019 15:15:16
Why would I set a new record? Because I don't go around crying when a player gets a kick? Snowflakes.

10.) 22 Jul 2019 17:07:47
Irishman a troll so don't respond to him as that's what trolls want.

11.) 22 Jul 2019 17:18:55
Yes not a Liverool fan if he thinks it's ok for someone to do that against one of our players in a friendly.

12.) 22 Jul 2019 18:07:10
Irishman, gr8 b8 mate. I rate that 8 out of 8.

13.) 22 Jul 2019 18:51:44
Irish dude, it wasnt a kick like a foul in football. It was an assault, plain and simple. If you did that in the street you would be in serious trouble. Especially a footballer who has massive legs. Could go to gaol. It was f#####g disgraceful. And to do it to an 18 yr old, in a friendly, and the guy is huge. Disgusting. If larouci was a few months younger it would be child abuse. Im all for a crunching tackle from a CM or a CB, i even appreciate a bit of the dark arts of sly fouls in the guise of a tackle (id rather teams were just clean, but yeah a souness type tackler is okay) but that last night was nothing but a spiteful bully kicking out at a kid who had just skinned him. Players have been banned from football for life for that sort of foul.

14.) 22 Jul 2019 22:03:23
Irishman, you are wrong and I couldn't be arsed what Smith or Souness did cos that is not the point of the topic so stop with the pathetic deflection. Anyone calling that a tackle should go learn what a football tackle is. What Gnagnon did would be aggravated assault which in the U. S depending on the state, could lead to a decent amount of prison time. Worst of all, the guy is a rank bully and a coward.

If not, how do you not only kick one of the youngest guys at on the field, he kicked him from behind like all true cowards do. Then, he blamed his disgraceful conduct on the fact that the ref did not stop play to attend to a team mate when he was down or that LFC did not play the ball out for him to get treatment. Again, like all bullies hence, cowards do.

Would have loved to see Gnagnon go after VVD, Matip, Milner, Gomez or even Origi if the shoe was on the other foot if he was that tough. He's not hence, he didn't so he picked on the little guy, just like all bullies and cowards do.

15.) 22 Jul 2019 22:55:11
I think playing some of these young kids against some of these big louts has to be looked at, even if it is a friendly pre-season game. I saw Monthe roughing Glatzel around, all game long at Tranmere, and I can't see how that can be beneficial to a youngster. It was not surprising that Glatzel eventually got injured (not by Monthe directly though) .

And enough has already been said about the Larouci "event". My take on that is, given the aggressive posture by Sevilla from the start, I'm sure that players were instructed to "show everyone that LFC may be European Champions but we still beat them every time" or something along those lines. I can't think of any other explanation because even after 9 new players came in for the second half, the bullying tactics and belligerence did not end.

06 Jul 2019 22:08:45
As a South African I can't say I'm gutted for Mo this time around. I admit I'm also glad that he will now be back in time for the start of the season.

1.) 07 Jul 2019 00:11:18
Percy looks ready, bit of good businessnfrom B Albon.

2.) 07 Jul 2019 00:53:29
I think salah just needs a good rest. He looked knackered today and has done a lot of the season. Just get mane back fit thats what I care about, hes our main man. I watched Senegal the other day and found myself cheering when they went though but didnt feel the same for Egypt and salah. Great player but I dont feel hes in it for Liverpool. If he did end up leaving I wouldnt lose any sleep.

3.) 07 Jul 2019 04:03:41
Firmane, any time we lose a star player isn't a great moment. But like every other time, I get excited about who we may bring in!

4.) 07 Jul 2019 08:52:18
Why would we want any of them to go regardless of who replaces them.

5.) 07 Jul 2019 08:54:13
i agree Mane is the main man. But who can we buy to replace 34 and 22 goals with hardly any penalties? It is a almost impossible to bring in a player who would get anywhere near those numbers.

Lets say Pepe I reckon he wouldn't get 10.

6.) 07 Jul 2019 10:18:29
Yeah it's good news for Real Madrid.

05 Jul 2019 13:26:18
Hi Ed001

Anderson Arroya is in the first pre-season squad. Are you of the view that the club want to evaluate him and Lewis to see if 1 of them are ready to provide cover at left back or has the club made up their mind that a signing is needed?

{Ed001's Note - the club always evaluates youth players in pre-season, it is standard practice. With Robertson being nailed on to play when fresh and fit, Gomez and Milner capable of providing emergency cover, there is a good chance one of the youngsters can get the nod. Up to them though.}

1.) 05 Jul 2019 13:46:05
Arroyo, just like Allan Rodrigues and Taiwo Awoniyi, is as far away from a work permit as the day they signed. None will ever start an official first team game for LFC. Sad but true.

2.) 05 Jul 2019 14:06:38
And still looking to bring another full back in Ed001 no doubt, or has that changed.

{Ed001's Note - yes, still looking.}

3.) 05 Jul 2019 14:08:17
Thanks ed001

Any idea why Lewis is not in the squad?

{Ed001's Note - no I don't sorry.}

4.) 05 Jul 2019 14:14:07
What's the situation with Arroyo? If he is not eligible for a WP, shouldn't the club be looking at a loan move for him?

{Ed001's Note - or a sale. That is why he is being evaluated.}

5.) 05 Jul 2019 16:24:56
Unless I haven't seen someone in that list, I'm more worried about the apparent lack of a keeper!

6.) 05 Jul 2019 17:42:18
I know this has probably been asked a few times ed01, but what are the issues concerning work permits? And why do we bring in youngsters that will have work permit issues?

Understand if its too long winded to reply to.

{Ed001's Note - not my area of expertise mate sorry.}

7.) 05 Jul 2019 17:42:22
Isnt it just a list of those who are attending the first training session of pre season?

24 Jun 2019 21:00:01
Sorry I hit send before I finished

The other need (more of a need) is at fullback. A fullback who can play left and right back would be ideal but we may have to consider getting 2 Full backs in.

1.) 24 Jun 2019 21:15:36
Bruno Fernandes rumours gathering pace. He could play various positions.

Full backs are going to be very hard to get, as they know they will be back up. If possible as you say a player who can play both full back positions is ideal. Or a player who could play full back and centre back but seems unlikely. Trust the club they are doing a great job with recruitment, best in the world over a few seasons.

2.) 24 Jun 2019 21:41:35
Mark, where are you hearing about these Bruno Fernandes rumours?

3.) 24 Jun 2019 21:57:03
A few diff jurnoes saying we are at the head of the queue and a bid being but together. Betting gone to evens.

No idea if anything is true but he does seem a good fit for our squad IMO. Am sure at some point ed002 said he was an option.

4.) 24 Jun 2019 22:14:48
Cheers lad. Supposed to be all over Twitter as well. Would be pleasantly surprised if true.

I believe it is the 2021 edition which they plan to give participants £50 mil. This year's edition is considerably less however champions of the world sounds very appealing and the prize money should stil be more than Caraboa Cup for a fraction of the amount of games.

Seen these rumours and while I hope he stays I wouldn't hold it against him if he would want to leave. Great back up and we might struggle to find a better back up centre back who is comfortable playing in a defence with a high line.

Ed do you know if he is looking to leave?

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know.)

Hi ed001 am I correct in saying that Lallana would be Klopp's choice from our 7 centre mids to play the Firmino role should push come to shove? Followed by Wijnaldum and Milner in that order?

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea because he would prefer not to play a central mid there.}

3 weeks is the time they get off from the last game they play. Players can choose to shorten this period and return to training earlier if they so wish but are under no obligation to do so.

Surprised he thinks this given that only 2-4 of Barce's players would make Liverpool's starting 11 to be honest.
