Hi all,
Liverpool have made one last late push for Minteh. Unlikely a deal happens but it's not totally off the table.
We will 100000% revisit this in January however and the players camp is well aware that a move to Anfield is increasingly looking like a matter of when and not if. Iraola really likes his profile.
01 Sep 2026 16:27:15
Cheers VG.
Brighton have signed Azeez, so it’s plausible.
01 Sep 2026 16:28:48
Really disappointed with the ending to this window, leaving Iraola short in areas of the team.
01 Sep 2026 16:35:31
Question is. Does everything change once the ownership swaps?
Seen it a million times before, new owners tend to rip up script, want their own manager and everything.
Who knows. 🤷🏻♂️ New era.
01 Sep 2026 16:39:36
If this were true, then who do we get rid of last minute? Would it still be Cody? I believe we have no space left?
01 Sep 2026 16:47:47
We very rarely, if ever, ‘revisit’ a transfer and if we try, we fail, similar to Guehi. If it doesn’t happen this window, I’d suspect that is that with that player.
01 Sep 2026 16:49:09
Just wait until Jan, otherwise we're paying 2-3 months of wages before he'll be match fit to play.
01 Sep 2026 16:50:06
Surely Chiesa is unregistered?
01 Sep 2026 16:50:23
Get him now. Get him with the team and fitness team and in and around the squad, building relationships and used to his surroundings. So when he’s fit around Xmas/Jan he knows what’s expected of him and he can go straight in.
To me that’s common sense unless they have reservations on his injury, which I think the club can be excused for waiting until Jan then.
01 Sep 2026 16:50:50
Ironic that Brighton and Palace have both just signed right wingers when they don't need right wingers, but we need right wingers and have signed no one. After enquiring about both said clubs' right wingers, we were told no unless they get replacements, which they now have. Yet we're still not signing anyone, leaving us with no right wingers and them now with 2 each.
01 Sep 2026 16:51:45
Vinny O’Connor told to go home so no more incomings!
01 Sep 2026 17:41:03
They signed Chema also.
01 Sep 2026 18:11:24
Really don't see that. He clearly wasn't our second, third or even fourth choice after the Diomande deal broke out. If he was, we'd have gone for him even before he was injured. A lot of things change in 6 months and we have absolutely no evidence they rate him that highly.
01 Sep 2026 19:03:31
We revisited Guehi and that went well.
01 Sep 2026 19:31:05
Kloppiche, he shouldn't even be signed, injury or not.
Minteh is poor as heck.
01 Sep 2026 16:15:50
So Palace are hijacking Fofana and Brighton are signing the winger from Millwall.
Does this mean something is happening?
01 Sep 2026 16:51:27
I'm disappointed we haven't gone in for Fofana for that price. Really good winger with a high ceiling.
{Ed666's Note - he’s a left winger we have 3 of them
01 Sep 2026 17:24:08
And spent most of last season injured or unable to get a game.
01 Sep 2026 19:32:59
@Hughes, apparently injured players are no longer an issue for a lot of our fan base provided they are players we like.
The ones we don't like, as in Joe Gomez, get called every name in the book for being injury-prone.
01 Sep 2026 15:11:34
As crazy as this seems to type, but the noise around TAA and a return has just breached the planning regs in Madrid, without one official resolving it. It seems plausible.
01 Sep 2026 15:29:42
1000000000% not happening.
01 Sep 2026 15:29:47
He played very well.
Last game and assisted Mbappe.
They only have Dumfries who is injury prone.
01 Sep 2026 15:29:54
Given our current options I'd take him back but only on a permanent transfer, low fee and lower wages than he was on. It would certainly help unlock Isak.
01 Sep 2026 15:58:09
Desperate times...
01 Sep 2026 16:01:48
Nothing more than clickbait imo.
01 Sep 2026 16:05:49
Accept it lads. We're done for the window. We'll go with what we have.
01 Sep 2026 16:08:31
Dumfries is many things, but not injury-prone. It's just not backed up by evidence. He had an ankle issue last season and had surgery for it.
Not that he was ever the answer for us, but it was for other things. Not availability.
01 Sep 2026 16:35:34
I have little doubt he wants a return judging by a recent interview, but the lad had his chance. Still, he'd do a decent job but tough.
01 Sep 2026 13:18:14
The club will push hard for Sarr before the window closes. He is refusing to train and has had a huge fight with Palace staff. 70m will get it across the line.
Toodles.
01 Sep 2026 13:43:47
Let's hope not.
01 Sep 2026 13:48:01
Mineh makes sense even if the price is high. Don't see where Sarr fits in at all.
01 Sep 2026 13:52:40
Sarr is there for when both Isak and Eki are injured.
{Ed666's Note - probably next week
01 Sep 2026 13:57:53
It seems Sage has enquired about Fofana... maybe this one is not dead yet!
01 Sep 2026 14:03:04
These stupid signature sign offs annoy me more than the BS rumours.
01 Sep 2026 14:16:26
I agree Minteh is the better fit in terms of profile for rw. However, we need a backup to Isak, so I really hope we get Sarr, who can also cover rw.
I would also love to see Camara come in!
01 Sep 2026 14:17:54
"He is refusing to train and has had a huge fight with Palace staff."
What an upstanding professional. I do hope we sign him.
Why stop at 70 million? We should bestow 100 million upon Crystal Palace – extra bonus money as a thank you for such a wonderful transaction.
01 Sep 2026 14:11:59
It's clear all
iTKs are Ed's - you can see the patterns easily but we still
Come
Back every 5 mins cause we are sad little Carnts
01 Sep 2026 14:22:45
Better than pushing softly, I suppose.
Honestly, what does pushing hard for a player actually mean? Submit a bid.
What else can we do? Write him a love letter.
01 Sep 2026 14:27:57
Signature sign offs should be earned.
01 Sep 2026 14:39:13
You mean like Isak Adam?
01 Sep 2026 14:40:03
If Minteh was fit and ready to go, I would say pay the money and bring him in.
Hard to believe that we haven't replaced so many players who have left.
Mo Salah, top goal scorer for so many years, and we go into this new season without a right winger.
Not sure what to say to that.
It's ok, they say, so and so can play right back, right winger.
Can't see us getting Top Four this season.
Playing two iffy full backs means more goals being let in.
Plus defending has been awful, even Ali should have done better with two of the goals.
Big Virg is still not fit. That 1st goal from Forest was a joke. High line, my arse.
So this season could be a wake up call, from the manager downwards.
Lack of Champions League will hit hard.
Still, we have to give this season a good go.
01 Sep 2026 14:50:55
Brighton have just completed Azeez. Minteh may still be attainable.
01 Sep 2026 15:00:17
Didn’t mind the link to Sarr when it was £50m but £70m to that target Parish.
01 Sep 2026 15:05:35
Badly managed window. Slow, protracted negotiations, indecision, moving to alternatives @ snail pace.
Is BB high priority?
Wrong time to consider selling Gapko.
01 Sep 2026 15:30:26
We are done. This window's closed. STC absolute joke!
Left so many glaring holes in the squad. Shocking window!
01 Sep 2026 15:31:23
If Isak gets injured we’ll have no CF. Sarr may save us CL qualification?
01 Sep 2026 15:31:24
Gakpo staying. I wouldn't bother with either Sarr or Minteh; Camara or Kone should be the priority in my opinion.
01 Sep 2026 15:47:55
Isak will get injured, Hugo could take longer than expected to get match fit, and score some goals, which is his job,
so it's ok, Gakpo will cover. Got to agree, way too many holes.
Hoping that we don't get too many injuries that will stop our progress, not sure why we have so many problems, but we should improve as the squad becomes fitter and faster.
01 Sep 2026 15:35:42
Are we all just wilfully ignoring how good Munoz looks?? Shiny new toys don't always work out when they come with a whopping price tag. We know this from very recent experience, although I still have faith in both Isak and Wirtz. Munoz has the kind of energy that Diaz has and a constant desire to get forward. He scored playing from the right and no one mentions him. I'm also guilty of forgetting about Hugo, who was by far and away our best signing last summer like Munoz could be this summer. Hugo and Barcola will have an understanding like most French players do.
There comes a point when the money you pay for a player becomes irrelevant. Isak HAD to start when he could last season because he was a record transfer. But that price tag is already becoming irrelevant this season. If Hugo outperforms him, he will be our first choice number 9. That's the reality because Iraola didn't buy either of them. If they can't find a way of playing together, I can see a world where one of them leaves next summer. Then we have to find another Jota who is both quality and impactful but doesn't mind spending A LOT of time on the bench.
You can't have a World Class striker filling-in for Haaland and that is the standard we want for Isak and/or Hugo. So something will have to give unless Hugo can play off the left. You know, the role that 47 of our 38 players seem to prefer. 😂
Also, Slot being soooooo bad last season changed everything. We all know that if he had stayed, Adam Wharton would have been in the door in double-quick time. Sacking Slot changed everything because Iraola doesn't play with a traditional number six. He never has and never will.
Slot was the guy who sold a dream to Florian Wirtz then didn't know what to do with him. Hugo was essentially an expensive Jota replacement (hate saying that about our number 20, but it's true). I remember people on this very forum saying Hugo alone wasn't enough and everyone was buzzing when we got Isak in the closing hours of deadline day. Let's not forget that he missed the whole summer training and then broke his leg.
Young Leoni will prove to be an immense signing, just like Jacquet.
So it really isn't as bad as most fans are making out. If we hammer Ipswich on Friday night, the world looks rosy again and we're undefeated in our opening 3. Newcastle away is traditionally our 5th most difficult game all season and we lost to Forest at Anfield in our two previous matches. Playing not great football under a new system + new coach + new tactics + new training staff + without our talismanic Salah and we still could have won both games. I can see a world where we lose BOTH those games under Slot.
It really, really, really isn't that bad. Lighten up. Spending rarely fixes anything (see Man United post Fergie). And even when it does fix things, it never happens immediately. New signings or making the most of what we have both require time and patience. This notion that we somehow won't even finish in the top 5 is wild to me. Trent couldn't defend to save his life. He didn't even track back, so Frimpong is already a minor upgrade defensively and Conor Bradley is better than both of them.
Don't let negative recency bias delude you. Trent amassed a total of 6 assists in the league the year we won the Prem. That 'wand of a right foot' also scored zero free kicks. Dom scored five last season alone. We won the league in spite of Trent, not because of him, and he was the worst defensive RB in the league. Doku skinned him a record number of times.
I'm not saying I would do this, but our lack of RB interest looks like Dom will be favoured in many games this season. He can't defend either, but he has one helluv'an engine and it's not the 'unglamourous' role it was when Gary Neville was playing there. He can still attack, still cross, still shoot, still take free kicks, and he tracks back. He could also spend just as much time inverted in midfield as Mac & Grav will.
The risk/reward will be epic this season. Just enjoy the ride and remember that shiny new toys often break and when they don't, they still need time. Just like Minteh or Sarr would.
Gakpo is a 7/10 most weeks with an occasional purple patch. He also guarantees 20-25 g/a every season. Combine that with Wirtz, Isak, Hugo and Barcola and we WILL score a huge number of goals once we click. Then everything will feel good again.
01 Sep 2026 15:39:47
I can assure you swampdonkey I am not an Ed, I just pass on whatever info is given to me. Sarr will sign today. Camara wants us but it will be difficult to get it done this late. Fingers crossed we can get him too
Toodles
01 Sep 2026 15:55:52
Very disappointing summer. Haven’t really fixed any of the issues from last season, plus now no natural right winger, weak in the fullback areas, and a midfield group that can’t defend. Oh, and the squad looks paper thin.
01 Sep 2026 16:00:54
@Distinguishedgentleman -- you really think we're still going in for Sarr? This will cause a huge problem with the wage bill, which is already insane compared to just 3 seasons ago (and with Salah no longer being here on £450k a week). We have too many bit-part players on £200k-ish+ a week, including Chiesa and now Gakpo who won't be playing as often as he did before we signed Barcola.
I don't see a world where we buy Sarr today, let alone Sarr and Camara. I'll be most pleased if I'm wrong.
01 Sep 2026 16:07:22
Mattytman1980 - I bet you were good at writing essays at school. Thanks for taking the time to share such a long post. I'll let you know what I think when I've finished reading it!
01 Sep 2026 16:08:36
If we sign a non-homegrown player, someone has to leave. Chiesa?
01 Sep 2026 16:13:54
Bit ridiculous suggesting Frimpong is a defensive upgrade on Trent and that Bradley is a better player than Trent, and then going on to say that Trent was the worst defensive right back in the league and severely overrated. Say what you like about Trent but he at least stayed behind the ball after passing it upfield, which meant we didn't have a full back getting caught upfield constantly, and he put in a shift defending on his flank every game, though we can all have an argument about whether he was good at it or not (I will forever say that he was never as bad at it as folks [mostly non-Liverpool fans] suggest).
This is no slate on Frimpong or Bradley. They just aren't the type to stay behind the ball; they are runners and carriers and want to go upfield.
Just because Bradley does a great recovery run from the opposition box to tackle somebody doesn't make him a better defender than Trent. Trent was a pivotal player in our greatest Premier League side ever. I just think folks need to put some respect on what he did.
I do agree that Dom probably should play right back for the time being. But I also think that we should sign a starting midfielder to take his place in a pivot. Somebody physical, athletic, who loves to get stuck in and who can also pass the ball forwards or play long balls in behind if necessary. Surely there isn't a player on the market like that? Oh wait, there is - Lamine freaking Camara.
01 Sep 2026 16:38:17
Contract or not, you can't blame a player for wanting to leave, especially for Liverpool. We've had it done and it's not nice, but that's footie. If my work stopped me from leaving, there would be murder, and I personally don't see any difference.
01 Sep 2026 18:51:29
"Say what you like about Trent but he at least stayed behind the ball after passing it upfield, which meant we didn't have a full back getting caught upfield constantly, and he put in a shift defending on his flank every game."
Umm. what?? 😂
"[.] and he put in a shift defending on his flank every game."
That last bit is a joke, right? It has to be. Oh. My. God. No footballer in the league ever put in less of a 'shift' on his flank than Trent Alexander Arnold.
I sat right BEHIND Klopp for every season he was there. You can see me in one Sky Sports clip when he pulled his hamstring after Jota scored against Spurs in the 94th min. Good times. If there were any way to upload videos on here, I have a whole file that I aptly entitled: "Klopp losing his rubbish over Trent!"
You can actually hear him yourself when there were no fans in the ground during Covid. Only time I ever heard Klopp swear in games was at Trent): "Run back! Trent! Trent! Wake up!" 😂 "Trent! Your head is in the clouds!" I have them all.
This notion that Klopp didn't want Trent to trackback is hilarious. I said it too, mainly to Man United fans who lambasted him for being a crap defender. Which he clearly is, but he was OUR crap defender. And stats is stats is stats. That amazing right foot scored zero free kicks despite taking 97% of them and Dom scored 5 last season. Would you call that an upgrade? Trent and his wand of a right foot gave us just SIX assists in a year where Salah broke the g/a record. Weird that, huh? Trent got away with it for so long because Jordan Henderson covered the pitch for him and then Sobo did it. He always needs someone to cover his lack of awareness, which no at Real Madrid will do and no one in the England squad will do.
Unless we're going to call Slot a liar, don't forget he also said he would give Alsono his first 'gift' and then insinuated Trent is lazy and full of himself in training. Which players who have since left the club have also agreed with in numerous interviews and biographies.
We fans are the cause of what happened, so I won't be blowing smoke up anyone's arse again when it's demonstrably untrue. Now he's gone to the biggest club in the world and what has happened? 'Injuries' and every player being favoured above him. And not making a World Cup squad even when we had no fit defenders! He went to Spain believing the hype we gave him and it massively backfired. I didn't 'want' it to. I don't hate him. I just see it for what it is.
The reason he can't get a game at Real Madrid and the reason he can't get in the England team is because he's not just an 'average' defender with exceptional attacking skills. he is an absolutely stone-wall horrendous defender with the ability to unlock a defence with the best right foot since Beckham. And STILL he scores a remarkably low number of free kicks and didn't massively create lots of assists when we won the league. He scored a crucial goal, granted. Awesome. Much needed and appreciated.
Go check the stats yourself. He cost us four goals from direct errors in his last season, meaning his net contribution was almost zero. So it's not ridiculous to say that Frimpong is a defensive upgrade at all. Any RB in the Prem is an upgrade to Trent defensively. And Conor Bradley IS better than both of them. Look how sturdy we were when Trent got injured. For the first time all season we looked like keeping clean sheets again.
I get that Liverpool's RB will always be exposed and that most RBs and LBs get skinned most games. But Trent made an art out of not giving a rubbish. He has zero spatial awareness, which means Liverpool, Real Madrid nor England will play him in midfield. We've tried it and it massively backfired because doesn't know what's around him.
The reason it bugged me when he left was the slyness. Go watch all his Sky 'exclusive' interviews from when he made it into the first team. In all but one of them he was asked what his 'goal' in football was and who his 'idol' was. And his answer was to finish his career at Liverpool, to be captain, put LFC back to the best team in the country and his idol was Stevie Gee. I'm not lying. Go watch it.
Skip forward to his interview with Sky in the winter of 2024. All of a sudden, winning the Ballon d'Or was his number one goal, which he never mentioned before. And he said "I have been Liverpool captain before, so I've already experienced that." Hang on. In your previous interviews you said you wanted to be captain of Liverpool, return us to glory and to end your career here. "This means more", remember?
He must have just changed his mind for no reason, but his idol is still Stevie Gee, right? Just like it was all for all those previous years? Nope. Suddenly it's Zidane. I mean. seriously?! Anyone who saw that knew he was already gone.
Then it all ended with the speaking Spanish. I had no major issue with that. It was really good, but he didn't say a lot and he could have practiced. My issue was the comment that "Playing for Real Madrid has been a dream of mine for a long time."
Then he realises what he's said and with a big, white smile adds into the mic: "Sorry. Just to clarify. When I said 'A long time' I meant a few weeks." Then he laughed because he knew how utterly ridiculous it was. 😂😂
Love all those fans who said he left because we had no ambition. when he also knew (as his brother has stated) that we were in for Isak, Wirtz, Ekitike and Kerkez (
01 Sep 2026 19:03:54
"I also think that we should sign a starting midfielder to take his place in a pivot. Somebody physical, athletic, who loves to get stuck in and who can also pass the ball forwards or play long balls in behind if necessary. Surely there isn't a player on the market like that? Oh wait, there is - Lamine freaking Camara."
I don't disagree, but we've been so bizarre these past few years that we now have players on astronomical changes. So what you're saying here is to buy someone like Lamine Camara, which would fundamentally alter the way our midfield operates. We have no 'like for like'... so shouldn't we buy two? And even if we only buy the one, who holds the bench? Which player on an absolute fortune will be expected to be a sub for a lot of games? Grav? Macca? Dom? How happy do you think they'll be with that? Did you see Grav's face when he came on from the bench on Saturday? If looks could kill!
We have created a huge problem with the wage bill and keeping players happy. That's why we sold Curtis. He wasn't willing to keep playing second fiddle. So we can't buy another starter until we sell either Macca or Grav.
That seemed to be the intention this summer then the interest cooled on Macca. Iraola doesn't play with a traditional six. He literally said he doesn't want one. These are all issues caused by squad planning/building and sacking a manager halfway through building a team for him.
It can't be fixed in one window. We'll be lucky to do it in two without players saying they want to leave. And if you bring in another midfielder right now to fundamentally change the way we play, either Mac or Grav have to miss out. They won't be happy and their motivation will be rock bottom. That's not good for morale. Klopp had 'like for like' players and Iraola said he wants the same.
It's not an easy solution, but it probably starts with selling Macca and then buying a first-teamer + a capable younger understudy on a lower wage who doesn't mind filling in. Man City don't even have two top quality midfielders in each position because they know they wouldn't keep them happy and it's a drain on the wage bill. You have to get starters and understudies willing to learn their trade.

Mattytman1980 - I bet you were good at writing essays at school. Thanks for taking the time to share such a long post. I'll let you know what I think when I've finished reading it!
----------
@KBL -- My apologies. I'm a writer who is currently behind with yet another deadline. On Deadline Day, of all things! Ha. If I was American, I might say: Go figure. But I'm not, so I won't. 👀
I've been reading the boards on here for over a year, but I felt compelled to write something today. Then I went OTT. 😂 Don't worry. You only have to suffer me for another 3hrs and 36mins. Then we can all go to bed at 11pm, thoroughly dejected and disappointed in our football team.
Just like normal. Last summer was the outlier. Ha. We all went to bed hearing that Isak had signed, but we missed out on Marc Guehi.
I'm still not over that one. Especially since Konate left. That's the worst fumble in recent memory. There is more to it, apparently. Like, we were trying to sign him from the Charity Shield... but Palace weren't playing ball. I watched his 'Goodbye' video and everything. Wonder!!!!
P.S. I just realised that the word s*** gets turned into 'rubbish' on here, so my last comment is full of rubbish. Like most of my comments. 😂 Oh well. It's all for Rubbish and Giggles, anyway. 😄

Liverpool have concluded their transfer window barring any loan moves for either Harvey Elliott or youth player Chris.
Mamardashvili to Forest has also cooled.
01 Sep 2026 13:18:34
Hasn't Elliott gone to Valencia?
01 Sep 2026 13:25:46
At least we’ve still got Chris Elliott.
01 Sep 2026 13:18:08
Chris Elliott?
01 Sep 2026 13:26:14
Funky, not yet. But it seems to be very close. He’s in Spain according to Sky.
01 Sep 2026 13:32:37
ChrisMoltisanti from the Sopranos.
Believe everything he says lads. 😎
{Ed666's Note - I don’t want to be swimming with the fishes
01 Sep 2026 13:34:23
We’ll now see how good a coach Iraola is, and how much some players want to play for this club.
There are no excuses for a lack of fitness, Arne’s defensive systems, Jota's passing, and no whipping boys in Konate or Gakpo. Although the new whipping boys are the comedy fullbacks, they haven’t been replaced so the club must rate them.
Even with the lack of a right winger issue we have Munoz who can play there, and with the CDM issue the club also aren’t actively pursuing one so collectively they can’t think we need one.
So the squad is set, and I fully expect us to start winning matches from Friday. Minimum from this season is fourth. I’d be really disappointed if we finish fifth or lower.
As for cups and CL, I’d expect quarter finals in each competition is about where we’re at unless we get favourable draws. Low expectations, but a genuine reflection I think of how things have been let slip.
{Ed666's Note - would you go into a gunfight with a plastic spoon?
01 Sep 2026 13:47:49
@Starman72, Think Munoz looks better on the right wing. Barcola Rio LW & Munoz Gakpo RW seem like a good set up. Don't think Kerkez is as much of a problem as Frimpong as he doesn't look like a fullback in any shape or form sadly.
01 Sep 2026 13:54:15
I don't agree with the business we've done Ed, but we have what we have. I blame a number of the players, and Arne, for last seasons woes as well as Hughes for poor business.
It's getting to the point though they need to just do better on the pitch. We've had two poor results so far against teams we should have beaten, if we don't beat Ipswich on Friday with this squad there's nothing down for us this season.
{Ed666's Note - we could have the best players in the world but if they can’t play in the system then losses are inevitable I’m afraid. I suppose this season will be a fact finding one for the coach and then he can mould a team to pay his system going forward
01 Sep 2026 14:06:10
@Starman72, sadly, I think your minimum expectations are somewhat optimistic.
I can see us being bottom half at Xmas having not done anything like enough to strengthen the squad. The only positive is retaining Gakpo (who would have thought that at the beginning of the window?).
To let Jones and Elliott go without any replacement means any injury to Szobo, Macca or Grav will start to see us relying on prospects or Endo - our rivals at the top of the league have far deeper cover than that...plus the right personnel for the job.
Our midfield, despite the league title win, has been easily run through for a few years now and we're not addressing that.
Sorry for being pessimistic, but I'm struggling to see how we can get top 4 right now.
01 Sep 2026 14:18:01
Chris is so famous that he is just known by “Chris”.
Like Ronaldinho, Zico, Socrates, Cher, Madonna, Prince.
He’s just “Chris”.

Ed666 like Ron said in legends I came here for a shoot out, a proper western, we've given our manager a shield made out of sugar paper and a sword made out of wax, Starman stop watching sparta pal
01 Sep 2026 14:12:50
Ed666, I don't want to create a little dysentry among the ranks but it's sleeps with the fishes.
{Ed666's Note - Ha ha yes you’re right my friend
01 Sep 2026 14:21:46
So we got baited to buy that youth GK lol.
01 Sep 2026 14:38:27
So... For now we'll just let teams run straight at the heart of our defence. VVD is going to have problems.
If not straight through then they can go past the fullbacks instead.
My prediction, no top 4/5.
Out early in domestic cups and completely embarrassed in Champions League.
Thanks very much, Hughes etc.
You expect us to pay and watch that?
Nope, not me. Sorry.
01 Sep 2026 14:42:40
Ha ha and a sock as a holster.
01 Sep 2026 11:34:44
I think LFC will be done for today.
Quite late in the day now and I think talks would be
happening by now.
I do feel they missed a trick with Camara.
But I guess we need to strap ourselves in for quite a frustration season as a little more effort in the transfer window would have made LFC far more stronger.
01 Sep 2026 11:48:32
The whole point of choosing to do business late is getting the prices down as the deadline clock runs down. We have had multiple bids rejected for players, suggesting the players want to come and we feel there is enough information to make a bid. Why would we simply stop now, given there are 11 hours of chicken to play now?
Monaco need to sell players. Long-term target Lamine Camara is there to be signed.
It's a no-brainer to try, unless Camara wants to go elsewhere or stay.
Minteh has clearly been unsettled. That is why Brighton raised the asking price to £80m. Both sides will know from the Baleba-Man Utd saga an unsettled player is a risk. Perhaps they will agree on a price.
Saying all that, Richard Hughes is an absolute whopper, isn't he?
01 Sep 2026 11:58:42
Villa got Mbaye for £47m. What were we playing at? Hughes is a shambles. STC
01 Sep 2026 12:02:58
By all accounts, Worzal, they were asking us to pay a lot more than £47m. Probably because PSG see us as a direct rival in the CL, so want to weaken our position as much as possible. That's their prerogative.
01 Sep 2026 12:15:08
@worzal69 we went in with a bid of around 48.5. Once Leverkusen had their bid accepted the player said he wanted to sign for us. Then PSG said actually the price is now 60 million so we walked away.
They knew we were getting Barcola for a lot cheaper than they wanted, so they put Mbaye's price up to compensate but agreed to sell him to other clubs for less.
01 Sep 2026 12:22:32
Villa accepted a large sell-on clause.
01 Sep 2026 12:26:06
Fly, that only works if teams actually want to sell. Mbaye is the only RW we pursued who really falls into that category, and we made a complete balls of that. I'm sure Palace and Brighton are very happy to hold onto Sarr and Minteh.
Riosstepover, we never even submitted an official bid for Mbaye, Rumour had PSG asking for £60m (€70m).
Villa have brought him in for a touch under £48. Are you telling me that a difference of £12m is "a lot more" and it couldn't be resolved one way or another?
01 Sep 2026 12:32:08
I'm just playing devil's advocate here. But 18 months ago, if you had told me that would would end up with Florian Wirtz, Bradley Barcola, Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo as our front line, with Munoz and Rio as backup, I would have laughed in your face.
Richard Hughes has massively unbalanced the team, but it's not his fault that Slot didn't get the best out of Wirtz & Isak or that they themselves have gone missing. They both need some fluency and luck to go their way. Wirtz is jinxed. Wonder save last week form Newcastle keeper, then a goal chalked off for Frimpong doing Frimpong thing, then another quality save from a header. He could be 3 for 2, then it's a whole different conversation. Fine margins. I know, I know. If my auntie had balls. (she she'd be my auntie because this is 2026). 🙃
I don't know if people have forgotten how bad we were last season. Genuinely the worst, most boring football I've seen this club play in 40+ years of being a fan. So I'm not that downhearted on our first two performances. Slot ball to Iraola ball is night and day, so it will take up to 8 weeks to really know everyone's role on the pitch. In the meantime, we're undefeated. Ha.
Every pundit seemed to think Liverpool were pants and both Newcastle and Forest were amazing. I'll take that because we still drew both those games. We won't get 'worse' from now on. The only way is up, baby. :) I'd like another signing or two, but we have a massive wage bill. Cody won't play every week and he's on £1 a month! God knows what Barcola is on now. Chiesa in on a fortune, so I'm not sure why he's still here. I want to blame Richard Hughes, but he did bring in the names we all wanted. He just unbalanced the team in doing it. It's also not great that he's working for Al Hilal already.
Anyway, nothing is ever as good or bad as we think it is. We were never going to touch Arsenal this season, so let's just score some goals and have some fun again. Like Klopp's first season with 20% fewer goals conceded. If we need to score 3 goals every week then we'll score 3 goals most weeks once this team of amazing players gels and gets some confidence. We got caught on the break in all of Klopp's tenure. It's just part of the risk/reward of playing a high line. We'll finish 3rd and get the UCL semi or final. And if we're in it, we can win it. The glass is half full. Conor Bradley back soon and then we can finish this rebuild in Jan and next summer with a few quality addictions.
01 Sep 2026 12:39:39
Monaco turned down a £38.5 million bid for Camara from Chelsea - we should be right in there to nick him !!! 🙏
01 Sep 2026 12:36:45
Richard Hughes is a total disgrace with his juggling of Al Hilal's and our transfer window. Can't believe our best transfer is actually Richard Hughes leaving.
01 Sep 2026 12:46:36
Schultzy, I would love that to happen. Hoping Richard Hughes doesn't mess about trying to pay on Klarna while Chelsea sign him from under us.
01 Sep 2026 12:50:26
Didn’t someone say they wanted a bidding war? We can’t do that with Chelsea.
01 Sep 2026 12:56:06
The reality is that the squad is not far off that which won the league. Weaker in a couple of positions but stronger in others.
Think positive thoughts, once AI whips them all into shape, we will be flying!!
01 Sep 2026 12:57:29
It’s just the end of FSG, they’re probably thinking let the Bezos money sort it.
01 Sep 2026 13:01:56
PSG have played us enough times over the last couple of years to know we’re nowhere near being a threat, Riosstepover.
01 Sep 2026 13:03:26
Don’t think we can blame the club on Mbaye. It seems PSG were acting the maggot. Shame I’d have liked to get him.
01 Sep 2026 13:03:41
I'm far more concerned with getting CM and RB reinforcements than a RW this window. No RW targets are gamechangers imo.
RB is a major, major hole to me. There's no timeline for Bradley's return and even when there is, the poor kid has missed 85 matches over the past 3 seasons. To think that will change after a major knee injury, to me, is simply delusion. We can steady the position by moving Dom there, but then we lose even more depth in midfield.
We've lost something like 2000 minutes by Curtis leaving and then if Dom hypothetically moves to RB we lose even more.
On top of that, this is all matching minutes 1:1 when Iraola is known to play a more demanding system.
I hate that we're leaving Iraola so short, I'm excited for Barcola but can't help but feel we're writing the season off in September and could be at risk of not finishing top 4/5, which would really hurt our chances at elite RW next summer.
01 Sep 2026 13:04:00
As some have already said, we needed a 6 and a RB in this window, and here we are in the last hours of the window hoping for one of them if not both. Not a chance this late in the day.
Camara was a no brainer @ the price, so you have to wonder what really is going on behind the scenes.
It's the manager I feel sorry for because it's going to be a struggle to compete in any competition this season, and when it's all said and done, that will reflect on him and the questions will be asked. Top 10 finish if we are lucky.
01 Sep 2026 13:14:08
Hoping Richard Hughes doesn't mess about trying to pay on Klarna while Chelsea sign him from under us.
@HamannPineapple
This is fake news. I'm fed up with people slandering Richard Hughes like this. Boils my piss with all the negativity surrounding him. He does NOT use Klarna.
He uses ClearPay with Temu cashback. He's also using an American Express Platinum credit card that expired last night.
So if we *really* want to buy a forward or a RB, it looks like dipping into the last of the Coutinho money, but reports suggest it's buried in John Henry's garden.
Might have to use a Bunker Buster to find it. Stay right where you are, Minteh. We're coming to free you! 😄 And what I mean by 'free you' is that we're going to put in a £70m bid at 10:50pm tonight that will obviously be rejected... but at least they can say "we tried".
Only Liverpool could bid £114m for a DM (Caicedo) on deadline day in 2023 and still not have bought one 3 years later. 😂 And we still somehow won a league and a domestic cup.
01 Sep 2026 13:13:00
Marty that is a very positive outlook, but what this level of spending shows is how well the ownership group has done (plus Klopp) to bring the club out of the duldrums and back competing on all fronts. Financially and on the field that we now have that buying power .what it also shows is Hughes and Edwards ineptitude to spend that money on developing a balanced squad that can compete on all fronts. Instead that have treated the last two summers as their very own fantasy football, with no regard to playing styling or team cohesion.
It is easy (relatively speaking) to sign high profile players when you have big pockets, it is much harder to actually develop and plan a squad that can compete for multiple years that is his failure. He took a very good team, made big name signings with seemingly no strategy other than to follow his own wet dream
01 Sep 2026 13:22:16
Absolutely Chewy! What would you say if you wanted to buy a house which the seller had already agreed to sell for £300k and then you come in and they say £320k to you?
I’d be telling them to do one.
The thing is, if Hughes had agreed say £55m he’d be getting hammered by people like you for paying more than PSG had already agreed to sell him to Leverkusen for.
01 Sep 2026 13:46:20
Rio, the house thing happens all the time, like everything in life it depends on how much you want or need the house/ player/ object, if you really want or need it then you'll pay the asking price.
01 Sep 2026 11:00:13
Eds, ITK's
Good Luck getting bombarded today!
With Chelsea seemingly agreeing a deal to sign Kone, could that give us the opportunity to grab Camara?
I hope so because we really need a solid DM
01 Sep 2026 11:13:31
We aren't getting either, mate. Have a nice day
01 Sep 2026 11:17:05
BBC reporting Kone to Chelsea is off, and Chelsea are now negotiating with Monaco to get Camara. Obviously I don't know how true that is; I do know we don't tend to do well when competing with Chelsea for players. It feels like we're done for incomings to me, despite a pressing need for certain positions to be filled/covered.
01 Sep 2026 11:17:38
Fabrizio reporting Chelsea have bid for Camara. So most likely we get neither mate.
01 Sep 2026 11:46:24
Nothing will happen today. Just glad we didn't mess up Barcola. He will add some key ingredients we've been missing.
Really hoped we'd get Minteh and Camara, but should still be a fun session. Munoz and Barcola will help bring more out of Wirtz and Isak.
01 Sep 2026 13:13:39
PSG mustn’t think Barcola is gonna be much of a threat then.
01 Sep 2026 09:33:02
Hello all,
If Marmadashvilli leaves today, expect an incoming.
The expectation is it would either be Yankuba Minteh or Lamine Camara.
Ta.
01 Sep 2026 09:55:30
Thanks, Carra. I assume the replacement being not like for like is because of the available non homegrown spots?
01 Sep 2026 09:56:26
I hope so! Ideally Camara for me. Even if we do end up signing Minteh, I think that we might as well wait until January. Although it's not ideal, I think that as long as Gakpo stays, we can manage until January with the wingers that we have.
01 Sep 2026 09:56:34
Excellent news if it's Camara. Thanks as always, Carra.
01 Sep 2026 09:57:28
Nice 1, Carra. Either would be great (both would be amazing), but Camara would be my pick.
Why is it dependent? Does it suggest the budget is tight, or is it the Non-HGP?
01 Sep 2026 09:59:40
Cheers, Carra.
Good to see you back on here.
01 Sep 2026 10:02:39
Mama out
Lucca in (learns from Ali for the year and doesn’t take a home grown spot)
Camara in
Yes please. 🙏
01 Sep 2026 10:06:48
To get one of those in, Camara provides more instant help, what with Minteh being injured. Then I say Sell Mama!!!
01 Sep 2026 10:08:01
Camara would be a great end to the window, all things considered.
If Gakpo is staying, Minteh can wait until January or next summer for a hopefully more sensible cost!
01 Sep 2026 10:08:29
Cheers Carra, hope you're doing better health-wise.
01 Sep 2026 10:10:41
The new GK is to re-join Genk, so Mamardashvili leaving would mean Woodman is second choice. Considering Alisson’s fitness record, that’s playing with fire.
That said, Camara would be great. Hopefully, someone shows interest in Endo as well.
01 Sep 2026 10:12:19
Cheers Carra, that’s why I check on here every 5 minutes.
01 Sep 2026 10:12:56
Brilliant news Carra, hoping it's both and Sarr.
01 Sep 2026 10:13:12
Let’s get both, let’s get both.
01 Sep 2026 10:15:19
Great info as always Carra, v much appreciated. If u have time to answer, do u know why it's dependent on Mamar leaving? Financial, or is it we would have too many non home grown players? I presume it's 1 of them reasons.
01 Sep 2026 10:15:44
First off, whenever you post Carra it is such a huge moment - you have earnt this god-like status, sir! 😍
I am maybe too uninitiated to understand...
* Mama goes - who's 2nd gk? (Is the plan for the Belgian giant to come now? Pesci? Woodman? - quite like him actually)
* As others asked - does it relate to hg quota? (btw, in my eyes only, a crazy quota).
Much like the financial fair play rules (or their acronym: HaHaHa), this is something that makes no sense in real world terms. My opinion only!
Thanks again Carra!
01 Sep 2026 10:21:55
Cheers, Carra.
01 Sep 2026 10:22:28
Cheers, Carra.
If one thing can go right this transfer window, it would be Mamardashvili leaving and Lamine Camara coming in, so I’m hoping this happens.
The way our summer has gone, though, I wouldn’t be surprised if Mamardashvili leaves and we pass up on Camara, despite every man and his dog knowing we desperately need a defensive midfielder, and instead opt for Minteh, who won’t even be fit until November.
01 Sep 2026 10:23:28
Carra, if it’s Camara then that could be a badly needed season-changer... Hope we get it over the line. 🙏🙏🤞
01 Sep 2026 10:27:48
I went to Google Lamine Camara there but accidentally wrote Lamine Carra. lol
01 Sep 2026 10:29:32
JoeyTheRed3, Lucca is not coming until next year.
01 Sep 2026 10:29:59
I hope we get both Lamine and Minteh.
Mama leaving is probably a good thing. Woodman wasn’t bad when he filled in for Alisson and Mama. Luca will learn quickly.
01 Sep 2026 10:31:00
To all those asking, it's because we don't have any non-HG slots left. We can only get players in if Giorgi/Endo/Chiesa leaves.
And before you say we can just unregister players, we're not going to do that while still paying their full salaries.
01 Sep 2026 10:31:11
Ben Jacobs and Alex Crook talking on Talksport now and saying Gasparini is saying no to Kone leaving so Chelsea looking to revive the Camara deal and have made a bid.
They are also reporting the club have stated their business is done.
Interestingly they have said the PSG owner said Mike Gordan had to step in to negotiate and get Barcola over the line.
01 Sep 2026 10:32:23
Chelsea just put a 45M bid in for Camara. Why are we not taking a chance there? That is a good price for a DM.
01 Sep 2026 10:39:19
I’m hoping it’s Camara out of the two and if so just keep Gakpo until Jan or next summer then replace, forward options would suffice but we clearly need a midfielder of real quality. I would have loved Macca and Gakpo to be moved on for decent fees and replacements bought in, Camara and a RW would have done nicely for me.
01 Sep 2026 10:40:22
Get both and give Endo and Chiesa away for free.
01 Sep 2026 10:42:55
Jaros is back around Nov/Dec Jurgenator and there’s five weeks of International breaks between now and then. Surely Woodman would be ok until then. Gakpo and Mama out the door and Minteh and Camara in would have made us a better squad imo.
01 Sep 2026 10:47:32
Cheers Carra.
Hopefully we get Camara regardless of whether Mama goes, although is that due to no HG spots available?
01 Sep 2026 10:53:21
Has to be Camara. It's a must.
01 Sep 2026 10:55:16
I just read the opposite. Sky Sports saying that Chelsea are close to agreeing a deal to sign Manu Kone from Roma, with Jamie Gittens going the other way on loan.
Welcome to deadline day lol.
01 Sep 2026 10:56:34
To the above.
It is all about the HG spots.
Camara prefers to join Liverpool over Chelsea.
Minteh only wants Liverpool.
Ta,
01 Sep 2026 10:57:13
Camara going to Chelsea. Nyoni will be Jones' replacement and start about 4 games this season. Clubs in the mud.
01 Sep 2026 11:13:53
Surprised if this is true and the club is happy to go ahead with just Alisson, Woodman & Jaros as GK options. Alisson will inevitably be injured during the season.
I’d personally take that risk all day if it means bringing in Camara, but seems unlikely. LFC
01 Sep 2026 11:20:44
Talk about a club failure this summer, so many players we could have and should be selling and effectively have hampered ourselves by not doing so.
Negligence.
Ken
01 Sep 2026 11:26:27
Thanks for the info, Carra. If we’re being blocked by HG spots, then it’s very frustrating that Hughes has not managed to resolve this all summer by moving on unneeded players using these slots up (eg Endo, Chiesa).
I’ve not got anything personal against these two players, but clearly they are not needed in the squad and are not being played, so the club should find a solution to move them on.
01 Sep 2026 11:29:48
If Origi is Jones’s replacement, he’ll be starting a lot more than four games this season.
01 Sep 2026 11:30:52
gm01, nonsense, we can buy who we like, it only matters who we register, Ekitike won't be registered, and Leoni probably won't be either, not this side of Christmas anyway. Endo and Chiesa are fodder who can and should be dropped for Koumas and Nyoni. Could also drop Tsimikas for Chambers if needed. So potentially 3 slots there.
01 Sep 2026 11:32:38
Sell Endo and Mama and get both Camara and Minteh and bring the Belgian giant in now, he’s 18 and won’t count towards non hg spot.
01 Sep 2026 11:37:21
The glaring issues in midfield haven’t been and won’t be dealt with, so we can expect to continue to be outfought, out-thought, out-tackled and outrun every other game. Our title challenge is likely to be over by November. So normal service resumed.
01 Sep 2026 11:38:59
Endo's contract is worth less than £3m. In no world, business or sport, should Endo's place in the squad be a blocker to signing a player that improves our ability to challenge for honours and much larger prize money.
Chiesa is different. He's on a big salary and would be more difficult to write off.
01 Sep 2026 11:39:47
Camara
Is
more
suited
to Chelsea’s style of play.
I think he could be a great little terrier for us too.
01 Sep 2026 11:49:49
The club can do exactly that, Chewy, but the club would not want a player being on our books while not contributing, now or in the near future. That's what gm01 is saying. And I agree, it would be best to ship Mamar, Chiesa and Endo out to free up wages and all.
Btw, thanks Carra! Very much appreciated your updates. Gives us a tiny lift when positive. You and other ITKs.
My choice would be Camara for immediate midfield issues but both since I'm greedy. Cheers!
01 Sep 2026 11:38:02
Camara is going Chelsea not sure where y get your info from lfc haven't even contacted Monaco once
01 Sep 2026 12:23:54
If Mamadashvilli goes, get Camara.
Could consider Nick Pope who's not wanted at Newcastle, hg plus got the experience if we need to call him in.
01 Sep 2026 12:36:22
@The Jurgenator -- The plan is Woodman if Marma leaves.
01 Sep 2026 13:24:26
Thanks Carra. 👍
01 Sep 2026 08:56:38
Any truth in Nunez to Everton rumours?
01 Sep 2026 10:00:28
He's already gone out on loan and played for the side.
01 Sep 2026 10:26:32
If it's just a matter of HG spot, surely there is a way to move on Chiesa.
01 Sep 2026 10:32:47
He is with Salah and Fab at Trabzonspor, I think.
01 Sep 2026 11:20:49
He is in fact not at Trabzonspor. That was a rumour ppl made up because Salah was so fond of Nunez. Nunez is currently on loan at Al Diriyah and just scored a brace in his last game for them!
