I wouldn’t be surprised if we announce Barcola this week & possibly even Mbaye. I think it all depends when PSG confirm their replacements. I know Akliouche is done, just waiting on Torres, then dominoes will fall. Also if Jones leaves then Nyoni will be his replacement, Wharton/Scott will replace Macca.

I personally think it'll be Sean Dundee out the door first.

Surprised we never went for Torres. RW/LW and can cover Isak up top too.

Torres close to joining PSG from Barca now, so we should see an agreement reached in the next week, I'd imagine for Barcola.

10 Aug 2026 17:22:27
I think Macca might stay now, personally. Wouldn't be shocked if he left, but seems very late in the day to be selling one of our best players, as much as people might berate him.

Of what I've seen of him I've never thought Ferran Torres was anything special. Any time I've seen Barcola I've thought otherwise.

I fear we may have to wait for PSG to secure Torres and Godts first.

Know I'm a couple hours late and news has been talking about this, but just jumped off a call with the general counsel and legal team of FSG. Confirmed talks are very advanced for 30% of the company at around 6b USD valuation.
Some still aren't happy with the valuation and think it's low, but I expect the deal to go ahead successfully.

FSG will continue to be active in the team and ensure that it remains as status quo going forward.
Expect FSG to fully exit remaining ownership from Liverpool between 2028-2030 at the latest even after this minority sale.

I'm off a quick call with John Henry himself.

I said, "Now we really will be run by bozos."

Oh how we chuckled.
I would say a good solid six minutes of chuckling.

No chat. Just two peas in a pod chuckling at a classic.

Then I said, "Bye Johnny lad."

He said, "Get out of here, kid. I'll be laughing at that all day."

The call ended there.

I'm worried how our sale is playing out to WEF's 2030 Super League pushing, especially the members buying LFC are WEF members? Not just the Epstein connections, not a fan of this sale and what it will do to sports and fans.

"Just jumped off a call with the FSG legal team, and now I'm going to a (good) rumours site to tell everyone all the confidential information I was privy to on that call."

1. You weren't on any call with any legal team.

2. You read whatever you just posted straight off another site.

3. Some of the rumours on this site are well into the fantastical range.

Many of you have asked about what the Bezos consortium deal is likely to mean for Liverpool.

I did write about this a few weeks back, so please do read that post. In summary, this is my day job and I’ve tried to answer the questions you have posted in my response below:

30% is known as a majority stake. 51% is a controlling stake.

Majority shareholders have lots of rights typically, such as voting rights on hiring board directors and senior positions, and selling the company in the future.

You only sell 30% rather than a controlling stake for numerous reasons, but the main ones are that you get some money off the table for your earlier investment, to achieve a valuation ($6BN).

So if you want to sell future shares that becomes the starting point and, in this case, I would suggest, this is leading to an eventual sale in a few years' time at a higher sale price eg some of this money will be reinvested to get a bigger future return on the remaining c70% still owned, eg. You own a smaller % but of a bigger pie.

Hope that helps.

Agree21 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 14:15:39
The very definition of majority is more than 50%. I don't know much, but I do know majority and controlling stake is the same thing. Hence the 50+1 rule in Germany.

Agree15 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 14:34:43
Chicken Staff, is that correct?
I was under the impression a majority stake means u have more than any other person.

But, if I had 30% and the rest was divided into 7 lots of 10%, surely I would be the majority shareholder, but not the controlling shareholder?
I'm asking, by the way, not telling.

Agree20 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 14:50:38
1jj is correct in their definitions.

Agree12 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 14:50:44
Great info, 1jj. Appreciate that.

Agree9 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 14:53:52
No, that's right, a true majority shareholder must have over 50% of the shares. What it means is they have the voting rights to push through whatever changes they want. But, in saying that, companies typically have shareholder agreements or rules included in their articles of association that can change things, where there is often minority protection.

Big squeeze, in that example, you would have a plurality (or relative majority).

You couldn't vote through any changes you wanted as the other shareholders could pool together to out vote you.

In theory this sale doesn't affect Liverpool (the company) whatsoever. The money paid is for the shares and so the proceeds go to whoever owns them (FSG), not the club. So no big influx of cash and I can't see why the new investors would put any money in, owning a minority, unless it was a preference loan.

Agree5 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 14:57:38
Thanks, 1jj.

Agree2 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 14:58:40
It's not my job, but it absolutely will not make Bhatia/Bezos a majority stakeholder. It will make them the largest outside holding besides FSG. The split - if it is to be believed - would be: ~67% -> FSG-controlled

John Henry / Henry interests
RB Rouge/RedBird-related investment
other FSG partners
various smaller FSG investors

~30% -> Bhatia-led consortium

Amit Bhatia
Jeff Bezos, if the reported participation completes
Eduardo Saverin
potentially other consortium investors

~3% -> Dynasty Equity.

Agree4 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 15:09:09
Gents, you are splitting hairs over narrative and context.

So perhaps the word "majority" is the issue in this framing.

But what it allows is 30% offers a trigger point for being a "significant" shareholder, who could trigger takeovers, etc., and enables voting rights. Depending on the articles in place, which I would imagine are pretty detailed for the club, at 30% they could have powers over special resolutions.

It's a controlling stake with voting rights that likely will lead to full ownership or a staged increase of shares over a sliding scale of time.

Bottom line, it's good news.

Agree8 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 15:11:21
Majority shareholder has to be over 50. The context of majority is not about having a higher share, it's about having absolute control.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 15:35:02
Strange that "this is your day job" and you don't even know what the word 'majority' means.

Agree8 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 16:11:10
A majority stake is a stake that is owned by an individual (or consortium) that is greater than any other stake held by other parties. FSG would still own 70%, so that would be the majority (and controlling) stake and the 30% stake would be a minority stake.

It is 100% accurate and anyone who has immediately jumped on it to be contrary is simply naive at best and embarrassing themselves at worst.

PS I see that our latest signing wasn't declared by the club on the weekend. Some posters just can't help but troll, however I have broad shoulders so trust me I'm going nowhere.

Luckily most posters on here are grown ups and respectful. Thank you to those that are respectful.

I'm off on holiday for a week. The wife decided we needed to take us on a technology free retreat, whilst the kids go off on holiday to Florida with other family. So I won't be around for a week after today, so I thought I would have a bit of fun and give you a glimpse into the kind of stuff I hear.

Some of these players will have potentially moved or in the process of moving and some may have signed a new contract. These are just some of the rumours I've heard around wingers/attackers and CM.

Outside of Barcola, I have heard whispers about these other wingers being looked at:

Rafael Leao, Rodrygo, Moleiro, Baz Toure, Williams, Ezzalzouli, Rowe, Barnes, Nusa, Schade, Moreira, Swedberg, El Bilal Toure, Rayan, Minteh, Bakwa, Conceicao, Kubo, Bardghji, El Mala.

CM wise I've heard whispers about:

Gavi, Pedri, Valverde, Zaire-Emery, Bouaddi, Barella, Scott, Wharton, Thuram, Kone, Andre, Camara, De Cat, Smit, Tchouameni, Taylor, Valente, Ferguson.

Most of these are highly unlikely and that is part of the reason I don't post everything I hear. So take most of these lists with a pinch of salt.

Agree11 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 14:24:31
If you were to have a bit of fun and guess what might happen by the time you're back?

Will Barcola have signed? Will we have moved on to someone else?

Will Jones have left?

Will we have signed a cm by then?

Could be fun, and also good for us to compare and get excited about.

Even if you don't want to guess, what would you realistically hope has happened by the time you return?

Agree2 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 14:30:47
Ok Match 😂. If you read the post properly, you would understand why I posted said lists. I ain't saying any of them are likely, just the kinda stuff I hear that I don't post becauae they are just whispers and nothing more. If I posted everything I hear, I would be wrong more times than I am right. Working in a world were info is fluid and changes with the blow of the wind, isn't as easy as keyboard warrior thinks.

Looks like we will soon have Bhatia, Bezos et al. as co-owners of the club. Rumours that a deal is very close for them to purchase 30% of the club at a valuation of $6bn.

Looks very much to me like FSG are amidst a phased exit from the club. Worrying in some senses as they've been really good stewards of the club in my opinion, not perfect by any stretch but we've won absolutely everything under them and did it in a relatively sustainable fashion.

Agree40 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 11:40:40
Agree, Fornax. FSG have been very good owners. They have grown the club and its stadium/academy and training facilities. All while delivering success on the pitch. It cannot be overestimated how dire a situation we were in before they took charge.

Agree36 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 11:46:03

Agree13 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 11:51:09
When you look at some of the other ownerships that have gone bad and, where we were with Gillette and Hicks, FSG were literally our saviours and have guided this club to the very top of world club football.
There should be no negativity aimed in their direction as we could well have found our club in the same state as Sheffield Wednesday & Leicester City.

Scarily, we were at the same precipice!
My opinion is that they have, and continue to be, nothing short of excellent.
A change in pwnership means uncertainty and a leap into the unknown. I hope, when change happens, it's positive.

Agree3 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 12:44:36
I'm pretty worried about this consortium. FSG have helped us with stability and allowed us to generate and then spend our own profit, which is how it should be. And they generally leave the running of the club to the people who know about football.

Who knows what Bezos and co will bring. Could invest and be the best team in the world, or we could rinse the fans of all of their money and not invest in the squad.
Better the devil you know.

Investment by backers with serious clout behind them can only be good long term for us. We need to ensure our medium long term future post FSG and a guy with nearly 300 billion behind him isn't a bad start.

Hopefully, that said, we do not become anything like the Chelseas of the world, albeit the "bomb squads" are now banned or will be shortly!

Welcome to LFC. Have a great season. YNWA

Agree30 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 12:02:02
There's a video of the Barcelona pre-season fitness test. The players were doing sprint shuttles, and Araujo absolutely destroyed everyone. He looked quicker and fitter than everyone else, by far.

Barcelona need to clear some space in their wage bill to allow them to sign Rodri, otherwise I highly doubt Araujo would've been their choice of CB to let go.

Agree21 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 12:34:06
Would you have him as a starting CB at Barca, MK? If so, surely they wouldn't be loaning him out just to save wages. Christensen, who must be on a fair whack having moved there on a free, is still there and is absolutely poison.

He was one of Barcelona's best defenders until the PSG game. He got sent off in the 30th minute, and Barcelona lost the game. Next day, Barcelona fans turned on him.
I think he will be a good assert for us as he can play CD and RB. Two areas where we are weak at the moment.

Agree4 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 14:01:24
Ok Krum. That's all I was asking.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 14:15:17
I think it was the use of the word poison, Florian. Looks like Inbeta has assumed you meant his character and not his playing ability. Simple misunderstanding, nothing to see here.

Agree3 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 14:36:51
Krums89, I guess these are the same Barca fans who were celebrating when his loan move was made public.

And btw, this is an act many LFC fans are now using to slate Araujo and the club for signing him and using as a reason for why he must be crap. Pathetic.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 14:38:20
There's lots of reasons a player may move on.

Do people Rekon Bayern fans wondered why we'd let Diaz leave?

Sometimes the stars align and the opportunity is there. Smell came on loan for a short period.

Did Liverpool fans question that?

Araujo is a very similar profile to Konate - fast, physical, strong. He won't have the technical ability that Flick would want from his CBs, hence the less natural fit for their style.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 15:00:00
Araujo has been open and honest about his mental struggles, and that can really take it out of you and takes a while to reset and forge forwards with a new version of yourself. He seems to have battled his demons and found the tools he needs to be able to keep himself out of the dark. If this is true, then he will be itching to show the world the player he is.

Sometimes players need a moment to collect themselves, and prior to this, the guy was captain of Barca that won a La Liga title and was referred to as one of the best in the world at that point.

He has the pedigree. He now has the stage to host his comeback, and one thing is for sure, he has the right fanbase to get behind him and lift him to new levels.

Agree10 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 15:21:06
How many is many Liverpool fans?

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 15:27:46
"A change is as good as a rest".
Araujo had spent a long time at Barcelona and had been successful. Suddenly, after a few bad incidents, the fans turned on him. This all affected his mental health and he took time out.

The guy needed a change. This is a great chance for him, and we all need to get behind the is lad, because he could be a key player for 5-6 years.

Agree3 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 16:15:52

Hello reds

Barcola contract being drafted as we speak. Personal terms fully agreed and the final stages of the formal transfer agreement is being drawn up. Not fully sealed, but it's extremely close.

Macca wanting out was the bad news I posted about a couple of weeks ago because our main target to replace him is already on the move elsewhere.

Macca is now staying put for this season at least.

Seems the CB/RB I mentioned from Spain was in fact Ronald Araujo.

I'm still not hearing anything solid on Mbaye, but let's see.

From what I've seen, and that's not a great deal tbf - I would have gone for Bouadi in replacement of Macca.

I do feel, though, if we sell Jones, we need another midfielder - any ideas?

"Macca wanting out was the bad news."

Not sure this is bad news, cos tons of LFC fans want him gone.

If Macca wants out, sell him now, he will just be another one who runs his contract out otherwise.

Get what we can for him, should be around 50 million in this market, and go and reinvest in Camara, Scott, Danois, Sadiki etc.

Macca needs out... He's embarrassing to say the least. Dreadful season when Jones deserves to start above you.... Get him sold.

DjimiT has been very accurate lately. I believe our target was Camara but he is already Manu/Crystal Palace bound. Based on multiple posts, it seems we have no suitable buyers for Macca and therefore we shouldn't expect any further additions for a holding midfielder.

Jones would leave, and I believe Nyoni would be the replacement, as he received a lot of praise from his pre season performance. All our money is currently being put into Barcolla, and the only addition post would be someone on loan at right wing. Keep an eye on Rodrygo.

'A consortium including Jeff Bezos is part of a deal to buy a one third stake in Liverpool FC.

Sky News says FSG is preparing to make an announcement as soon as this week. The deal means Bezos will be part of an investor group with Eduardo Saverin, a Facebook co-founder.'

I’ll be honest, I’ve never been one to pay much attention to the corporate side of football, it’s none of my concern. However, interested to hear from people who know more than me about how this is likely to affect us? On and off the pitch, money for players, fan experience etc. Or whether we will one day be able to watch all our games on Amazon Prime for £8 a month and not have to pay for Sky and TNT (that bit would be marvellous, I do care about that).

I believe the Premier League are creating their own stream app to show all games, even 3pm ones. Price was rumoured to be 10 pound a month. Cutting out Sky etc will be great.

The NFL has it and it works well, it was only a matter of time before it happened and if it is £10 a month, bring it on.

That'll be the sign up price, not the on-going price.

@Loz79, Who will cover the £6.7b that Sky pay to the Premier League?

Agree2 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 14:35:36
If you base it on Netflix customers and then customers who follow the Premier League, it will generate a fortune each season at £10 a month. I've said this for years, the Premier League was missing a trick in not making its own app.

I think Eduardo Saverin's character was played by Andrew Garfield, who played "Eduardo" in the movie "The Social Network" about how Facebook came about.

I'd like to see them charge £68 per person. Everyone pays the same then Match going and non.

I know the non match going fans are always happy with ticket increases so I'd imagine they would be chomping at the bit to give the club more money.

Stupid post, £68 to watch a footie game on TV, will just stop people watching live games and the EPL and Sky go bankrupt.

Read on BBC Arsenal now in for and have contacted Barcolas people. Can see this happening and I think London and their squad being a bigger pull. I think this window will be like slots first one. Same squad add 2 and hope.

I believe if we do not sell two or three, we won't get what we need. I think we need to sell Jones, Chiesa, Elliot to be able to sign Barcola and another player.

Barcola to Liverpool is already done, so Arsenal would need to approach Liverpool, not PSG.

'BBC Arsenal' what's that? I'm assuming you don't
mean the clickbait site Give Me Sport quoted on the BBC gossip pages, right? Give me strength, more like...

How about we stay calm while the Barcola deal plays out. Plenty of people have said it's almost there, and there's no reason to think otherwise. It's also been widely reported Barcola rejected Arsenal a while ago.

We're under no pressure to sell him this summer, JK, as he still has 5 years left on his contract with an option for a 6th. Club already briefing James Pearce to come out saying the Gunners would be wasting their time.

Fm tickled me that.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Barcola bought for 120 mill on 11th August, and sold for 100 mill to Arsenal on the 12th of August, and just increase in ticket prices to fill the 20 mill hole.

Agree7 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 09:18:29
Never have nor will I believe this narrative that we currently have to sell to buy as we have no money basically.

We were among some of the richest clubs for revenue etc for the last few years and have the ability to buy who we want for whatever we value them at, if we value a player at 125 like we did with Isak we paid it, we have currently in the public domain had a bid for 100m for Barcola that doesn't suggest to me we have no money, on top of that we wont be held to ransom by a team as well, it's been public knowledge for a lot of teams that they do not announce big money signings or sellings, it gives opposition teams you are currently working with a chance to know if you have extra money to spend.

The way I look at it, PSG want to get who they want and are doing that at reasonable prices but say we got Barcola for 110M before they agreed a fee for Akliouche then Monaco will see they have 110 extra funds and try to get more money out of them.

We will in my eyes get Barcola and most like another 2/3 players as it is evident we need them and move on the players we need to when we are able to this window.

Revenue is a bit different than having actual cash in the bank....

Agree4 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 09:33:00
Net profit or loss on sales, as well as football revenue, are relevant when deciding how much to spend on wages under the rules. So, while our revenue is high, so is our wage bill. We are constrained on what we do transfer wise.

That's not to say we can't do business, we can, but we'll need to be mindful of profit from the likes of Jones when working out how much we can spend on incomings and wages.

Yeah, the BBC Gossip page is not a bastion of truth, it's just a roundup of stories from various sites on the internet - less adverts than NewsNow but not noticeably better quality stories.

Doesn't stop me checking it around 10.30-11 every night, but I don't take it seriously!

Agree5 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 09:33:59
Yes, but who are we targetting? I feel like either we have no plan at all or it is being kept very under wraps, as highlighted in the Munoz and Araujo deals. Personally, I hope we get keep Chiesa and Elliott, selling Endo and maybe Jones (I think he should stay).

I don't see Macca going anywhere this transfer window, and since we are approaching the latter stages of the transfer window, this might be a more difficult task.

Agree2 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 09:49:19
There was a story early on in the transfer window, that Barcola had no interest in Arsenal. Having played them in the Champions League last year, he was less than impressed with ArtetaBall, and didn't feel their footballing philosophies aligned. In which case, if the allure of their money outways his own morals, then as with diamonds.. bullet dodged...

YNWA.

10 Aug 2026 09:49:33
It's been reported quite a bit that after talks with Arteta and playing against them, Barcola doesn't like their style of play and doesn't want to play in that team.

10 Aug 2026 10:03:38
Not much info out there on who, if anyone, other than Barcola is a target. It's also not clear whether there's a genuine stand-off over the fee for Barcola, or whether the delay is due to other reasons.

It's been said numerous times on here the delay is due to PSG, rather than the fee per se, but in the general media the view seems to be there's a gap on fee which needs to be closed for things to progress.

The general consensus on business beyond Barcola, if he comes in at all, is that business with any notable fee will need to be funded through sales. It's frustrating as we still have gaps, but the sales are as slow this summer as they ever have been.

10 Aug 2026 10:39:05
We have a history of keeping our powder dry until the job in hand is done. It's the best way to do things, imo, if frustrating.
One thing is clear, and that is we are short in some key positions as a squad.

I have no doubt that this will be addressed. Very promising first half performance. Also that Jones was not in the squad. Illness or not, I think it's a good sign that he might be off to Milan.

10 Aug 2026 10:45:51
The payments for incoming transfers will be spread over a number of years, so I do not think signing him will plunge us into financial ruin.

Robbo and VG have confirmed it is a done deal and Ed001 on his podcast said he believes it is just a case of waiting for BB to return from his holiday to complete his medical.
Hopefully we will get some good news soon. We are seeing the consequence of poor squad management ie Hughes and Edwards

I have full trust in Robbo, VG, The Fields, ED01, Ned, Carra. The likes of the BBC on main stream media, and DjimiT et al on here are, IMO, just compiling info like an AI search engine and hedging the bets making it seem as if they have an inside track when in fact they know sweet FA. Stick to the proven people.
