Next offer likely accepted for Barcola.

We're not far away as I said.

Thanks Carra, for the info.

Looks like this is going to happen. Thanks a lot, Carra, really appreciate the info.

29 Jul 2026 22:45:10
Hope so. šŸ™šŸ» What a signing this would be. When someone (can't remember who) first mentioned Barcola about 3 or 4 months ago, I dismissed it out of hand as a totally unrealistic suggestion. Whoever that was, I apologise!

Tanks, Carra.

PSG accepts a £100 million LFC offer? That's fairer compared to fees for Anderson and Rogers. The third most expensive LFC signing also takes a huge weight off Andoni and Barcola's shoulders!

If Andoni wants him, then you have to support the manager's decision, and most happily accept a new LFC player also.

Andoni has a superlative record with past signings in the transfer market at Bournemouth.

Looks like Munoz LW, Barcola RW = Salah's replacement. Best of luck to player and manager. Looks like he takes Mo's shirt number also eleven?

Thanks, Cara, I can finally go to bed now.

29 Jul 2026 23:16:18
Brilliant news, Carra. Thanks.

0

29 Jul 2026 23:18:58
Nice one, Carra.

29 Jul 2026 23:19:38
@007, There is no way we are playing Munoz on left & Barcola on right, Munoz was signed to be used just as Jota was, Barcola will be our main left winger & we will sign another attacking player, as I've said previously, our aim has always been to sign 2 wingers, Barcola & Diomande were our targets.

Thanks for the info mate.

Hi all,
May I get everybody distracted from Barcola with a story worth sharing?
Daniel Svensson is getting a move from Dortmund to Liverpool. He's the next in line after we sign the Salah replacement. The Swede is very keen to join. Good competition for Kerkez and cover CM in the double pivot formation. I assume Kostas is getting options with more minutes elsewhere.

13

29 Jul 2026 22:02:21
This is good news, so that's two positions covered and we just need someone who can operate in the defensive right positions, maybe a hybrid of RB/RCB, someone like Geertruda or Illaryna.

2

29 Jul 2026 22:09:05
I signed him on a Liverpool FIFA career mode and he ended up 89 rated, and that's all I need to know. Get him in immediately.

4

29 Jul 2026 22:12:40
Cheers, Stan. That's an interesting development.

0

29 Jul 2026 22:51:32
@StanUA, who will be our Salah replacement?

0

29 Jul 2026 23:02:10
Svensson is a decent player, to be fair. He played Left Wing Back when I saw him last season against Man City, but he was Dortmund's best player and kept Savinho very quiet. I don't actually recall him playing for Sweden at the World Cup when I watched them though.

Thanks for sharing, Stan.

Any truth in the rumours around us liking to sign Fernandez-Pardo?

Saw something a while back.

0

29 Jul 2026 19:09:16
I think he will go to Chelsea.

5

29 Jul 2026 19:22:22
More chance of us buying a Teddy Pardo CD player...

0

29 Jul 2026 20:18:52
I beg your Pardo?

29 Jul 2026 17:50:40
Hi Lads. Hope you’re having a great summer and more importantly, keeping your windows clean.

I cheekily asked my footy // tech business mate some Liverpool transfer Qs. I don’t like to hound him but he’s normally spot on, copy and paste below.

ā€œNo worries it’s 24 or 25. LFC - yes Barcola done. Similar money to Isak/Wirtz not 140+. Might take a while. Mid-late Aug. I don’t know about Gakpo. Jones to stay.

No to Wharton. Interest in Kounde and Ferran Torres. Maybe we can sing Fernando’s song again! Catch you soon mateā€.

Our firm have also been given the green light on a new transfers house and it’s a big one so I reckon that’s BB šŸ‡«šŸ‡· šŸ‘ … I’ve not been assigned though. Gutted.

We need a busy few weeks here! Strapping in.

PS. I take it we’re all Germany fans now too!

Big season coming for the Reds.
CSW.

29 Jul 2026 18:25:29
Love these. Pure old school. For some reason, I visualise your mate as Robin Askwith.

15

29 Jul 2026 18:25:54
Nice one, cheers CSW. Hope you are well, mate.

1

29 Jul 2026 18:31:29
SlotworkOrange vibes. I love it.

3

29 Jul 2026 18:50:54
Barcola LW/ST/RW
Kounde RB/CB
Ferran Torres RW/AM/LW

Love it!

4

29 Jul 2026 23:10:41
I like the idea of Ferran Torres yanno.
Him and Kounde could round off a slow but decent window, although I would still love to swap Jones and Macca for Sadiki and another.

Not sure how true but apparently Henderson’s agent contacted LFC to see if we was interested after his contract with Brentford was terminated. Looks like he’s off to Chelsea tho.

8

29 Jul 2026 16:04:42
Seems more than plausible. He should have stayed in hindsight. Could have played the Endo role.

12

29 Jul 2026 16:22:35
What a hilarious career in the end. Screwed up any integrity he had, throwing his toys out the pram to run off to Saudi soon after the rainbow badge stuff. Then wangled his way into Ajax, Brentford, and somehow now Chelsea?! šŸ˜‚ Any shred of respect from Liverpool fans has got to be gone now.

23

29 Jul 2026 16:26:49
Hey, Jude. Speak for yourself. I have nothing but gratitude for the man. He's a Liverpool legend. And, let's face it, if you met him in a pub you'd be the first one to buy him a drink and get a selfie.

52

29 Jul 2026 16:41:48
I also have nothing but respect and affection for Henderson.
A "hilarious" career, where he won everything under one of the best managers. I wish my career was a quarter as hilarious as that.

43

29 Jul 2026 16:48:46
You just like making stuff up, do you, Jude? Henderson had a very straight-up conversation with Klopp where he openly expressed that he was concerned about game time going forward and that Saudi was a great opportunity (to earn) that may not come around again. Klopp told Hendo he couldn't guarantee him anything, and Hendo made his decision. There was no bad blood, no toys thrown.

If you've lost respect for Hendo, that's your issue, and I guarantee it's not a sentiment shared amongst the fan base.

It seems maybe you should do a little research into situations before casting uneducated judgment.

Hendo was 33 when he left for Saudi. It was the right time for him to go. He probably could have stayed on, but it would have been in a bit part role, and he wouldn't have been happy.

34

29 Jul 2026 16:47:39
What absolute crap Jude, Henderson was a Liverpool legend and will always be welcomed by true Liverpool fans.

YNWA

29

29 Jul 2026 16:51:36
Just because he's played for other clubs after us doesn't change how I feel about him. He's probably one of the best captains we have ever had and always gave 100%. I love the bloke for what he's done for LFC.

29

29 Jul 2026 16:57:17
The rainbow stuff and SA was embarrassing, but the man is a Liverpool legend. Fantastic captain. I totally disagree with Jude.

21

29 Jul 2026 17:00:28
One of the greatest captains we ever had, not giving a toss if he goes there, he's earned the right to choose how his career goes.

19

29 Jul 2026 17:04:53
I love Henderson. I'd have him back in a heartbeat.

17

29 Jul 2026 17:14:58
I'm so pleased with the unanimous reaction to Jude's post. Restored my faith in our club's famous mantra, to be honest. Hendo, You'll Never Walk Alone.

27

29 Jul 2026 17:26:43
Spout that nonsense elsewhere Jude. Have an opinion by all means, but don't try and sell it as a generally accepted common narrative. Leave that approach to Trump and his cronies.

18

29 Jul 2026 17:37:17
He may come back to haunt us all!

I suspect Andoni would rather be in Chelsea's boots. No European football at all is an absolutely massive advantage over the course of a very long Premier League season. Look at Man Utd, 15th to third with a poor squad, shows the magnitude of that no PL football.

If I was Alonso, I would play my academy team in the Carabao and FA Cup for every game till they get knocked out, so compounding that PL-only football advantage even more.

I am certain he will do that and go 100% in every PL game. The less games you play also means less chances of injuries, suspensions, etc., a full week at times to prepare for PL games. No fixture congestion also, which is always 99% in the PL run-in. Will he win it? My money is already on a Basque manager to win the PL 26-27?

2

29 Jul 2026 17:45:00
Henderson is not in my All Time LFC first eleven, but he's on the bench. He was nothing, only fantastic for us. During the fantastic times!

7

29 Jul 2026 17:38:17
Bobby, how is the rainbow/Saudi situation embarrassing? That was nothing but shamefl move by the media to create a story out of nothing. Countless players have supported the alphabet people in one way or another and moved on to leagues in countries where it's not supported, frowned upon or ilegal, but not a single word is ever said about it. I bet 90% of people work for or with companies that have extremely questionable ethics when it comes to some of their operational practices.

Politics don't belong in football anyway.

9

29 Jul 2026 17:49:12
Yeh I'm not going to take any digs at Hendo for the career he's had after Liverpool. I'll never forget the contribution he made in helping take Liverpool back to the top and he will always hold a fond place in my heart. "Fans" who try to constantly spread negativity about Hendo will never have any respect from me.

8

29 Jul 2026 17:48:06
Yeah Hendo is a disgrace, Same for Fabinho, Sadio, Bobby. Milly, now Mo and Robbo at it too.mad behaviour leaving us, .when we no.longer really want them too, should be dead to us all

6

29 Jul 2026 18:07:01
Lol I may have gone a bit over the top with the last sentence but I stand by what I said initially. I'm just surprised that he's ended his career with a little stint as a journeyman.

I think it's a bit of a tarnish on his legacy. He should have stayed and played his part as a senior influence that set standards a la Milner, retired at the club, or gone back to Sunderland.

3

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - Sunderland weren't interested and Liverpool really wanted his wages off the books. His choice was stay put and barely play or go to Arabia.}

13

29 Jul 2026 18:16:28
I wish Hendo nothing but the best, unless he's playing against us. He's a bona-fide legend of the club, literally won it all.

The trophies speak for themselves, but he was just as important in the 2013/14 season. Our level dropped enormously while he was suspended for the Norwich, Chelsea and Palace run.

7

29 Jul 2026 18:19:18
Chewey, politics is at the very heart of Liverpool Football Club and has been for a very long time. Politics eventually got the Hillsborough victims a measure of justice, with the current Prime Minister part of the push for that, using, you've guessed it, politics.

As for your 'Alphabet people' line, that shows ignorance that doesn't align with Liverpool's ethos.

8

29 Jul 2026 18:26:36
Hendo was a class captain, wish Vvd was half the captain he was.

4

29 Jul 2026 18:28:34
Hendo was never the most gifted or talented player we've ever had, but my goodness he was a hell of a captain & made the most of his ability.
Many rival fans mocked that he was in the team & never good enough, but he was badly missed when he didn't play, & left a big hole in the leadership group when he left.

Afraid, he's just the kind of influence that the young lads in Chelsea dressing room need. He might not get much game time on the pitch, but Alonso knows he brings with him a great work ethic & won't accept any slackers in his dressing room.
I'd certainly have had him back.

5

29 Jul 2026 18:30:23
I disagree with Jude's comments.

It's a short career and he was club captain. If we are gonna start this rubbish, then we may go through all the other LFC legends that left us.

There are plenty. He left in good terms when the time was right. There is more going on in the world than LFC. Players don't have to stay with us until they die.

2

29 Jul 2026 18:31:29
Tbh, it was a good thing he left at the time he did. The way he left was a bit pompous cos he acted like a spoiled child. That being said, I have nothing but respect and admiration for that man.

To put up with all the hate, insults and questioning of his commitment to LFC to the point of people rooting for him to fail (esp.

from his own so-called fans) and remain professional, dedicated to his play, his status as captain, and to have his efforts crowned with glorious success, is just absolutely phenomenal.

One of the greatest captains of our illustrious club and I'm happy he didn't quit on himself and run to Fulham.

2

29 Jul 2026 18:37:03
Leadership over skill and talent any day. Hendo had that in abundance, for me, dare I say it, he was a better captain than Gerrard.

3

29 Jul 2026 18:44:29
I liked the alphabet people line, relax mate, no one's being nasty, it's all gone crackers with you, can't say this and can't say that these days.

6

29 Jul 2026 18:48:11
Crazy to think Brentford, Ajax, whatever Saudi team, and Klopp all allowed Hendo to leave in the last 3 years considering what a great leader he is.

2

29 Jul 2026 18:24:15
Nowhere near as bad as that rat Micheal Owen

1

29 Jul 2026 18:50:55
Darren A - less letters to just type out LGBTQIA+

4

29 Jul 2026 19:19:35
Disagree completely.

One of our best modern captains.

1

29 Jul 2026 19:07:44
JK23 do you know the context of him leaving any of these clubs? Poor digs from you mate

1

29 Jul 2026 19:11:29
Lofty, I disagree, politics is not part of footbal. Anytime it's forced on the sport, it always takes away from it. Justice was sought for Hillsborough because as usual, politics failed us. It has no place in the beautiful game. It's not football's fault when it has to fight back through means outside the pitch, nor does it mean it's a part of the sport we love. 22 blokes trying to smack a ball between 2 sticks. (Why does that sound like a 2 girls 1 cup sequel? )

I picked up the "alphabet people" line from a very sensible gay friend btw.

1

29 Jul 2026 20:11:16
Chewey, politics isn't forced in sport, it's embedded. Politics you might not like might feel forced, but it's always been there, hence Scousers' dislike of Thatcher and the Tories, as well as vocal booing of the National Anthem, support for the dockers, fans engaging in political activities such as feeding kids during Covid. That's also politics.

4

29 Jul 2026 20:13:04
JK23, what do you mean, allowed him to leave? Clubs have absolutely no power over players anymore. That ship sailed a long time ago. You're free to go wherever and whenever you want.

Maybe instead you should ask yourself why Hendo captained us for 8 years, winning every major trophy possible, captained Al Ettifaq, captained Ajax, and even captained England on a number of occasions.

For the record, he left Saudi because he and his family didn't settle, and the lack of football threatened his international career.

He left Ajax because he had an opportunity to return home to the Prem and help secure a place in the national team. He's left Brentford because he has a fantastic opportunity to work with Alonso at a top-tier club. All of these are no-brainers, and there's nothing any of the clubs can do to stop him.

0

29 Jul 2026 20:17:49
Hendo. Wow, I love the outpouring of respect and love for him. Jude, you were way off. He was incredible and there's a reason Tuchel took him to the WC.

1

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - he went as a cheerleader Duffer, his main attribute has always been that he is able to point..

5

29 Jul 2026 21:24:19
Always loved Hendo's attitude since he said he'd rather stay and fight for a spot in the team than transfer to Fulham. Great attitude, great leader, and not a bad footballer either.

0

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - great captain, less than mediocre footballer, good at pointing and telling people what to do even though he could not do it himself, but a very good motivator..

2

29 Jul 2026 21:58:50
My bad, Chewy.

I thought, whilst under contract at the clubs, they held the power to keep him.

In a separate note, despite signing a new contract last week, let's hope Dom doesn't decide to leave tomorrow.

2

29 Jul 2026 22:15:59
Good grief, Gerrard and Carragher couldn't handle being a bit part player for us, so moved on! Hendo will always be a club legend to me and that won't change who he plays for, unless it was Everton or UTD that is!

0

29 Jul 2026 14:39:47
Seen mumblings (on Twitter) about Fikayo Tomori?

Would be a good option to ease the pressure on Jacquet and Leoni.

Just wondering if it's just nonsense or is there any chance?

3

29 Jul 2026 15:23:41
He's nearly 29 and hasn't played consistently well since about 2023.

9

29 Jul 2026 15:30:35
He would be a back up for Jacquet, he could cover the centre back position and wouldn't cost a fortune.

29 would be the perfect age for the profile of player we need, assuming we paid the £60m for Jacquet to be the short and long term centre back.

I'm not expecting us to sign an U23 world beater, we've supposedly just signed 2 of them.

2

29 Jul 2026 15:35:16
I would prefer to stay with Joe Gomez on 1 leg than sign Tomori.

6

29 Jul 2026 15:40:09
I would also keep Joe Gomez, it wouldn't be a case of one or the other, but you can't rely on Gomez, he's made of wafer.

2

29 Jul 2026 15:45:23
Tomori has covered right back fairly regularly too.

1

29 Jul 2026 15:49:39
Surely if we're going for this calibre and age CB we would have just signed Senesi for free earlier in the summer.

3

29 Jul 2026 15:53:00
Noo... we asked for two more signings, not Tomori signing.

8

29 Jul 2026 15:59:13
Florian,

I'm sure Senesi was expecting first team football, otherwise, I'm sure all the top clubs would've taken him for free.

I'm not saying the rumours are true, but if he's willing to come in and be an understudy, playing cup games and slotting in where fitness issues arise, I would be all for signing Tomori.

2

29 Jul 2026 17:34:53
Is Senesi gonna be 1st choice ahead of Van Hecke and VDV?

1

29 Jul 2026 18:03:03
Tomori is nowhere near good enough to play for Liverpool, I'd rather we signed no one than him.

As for Senesi, he's far from a guaranteed starter at Spurs, so I'm sure he would've picked us over them had we tried.

I suspect we didn't for 2 reasons - firstly, he had all but agreed his move to Spurs pretty early on this summer before AI was in the door and secondly, we've got a major non-HG issue with the squad right now.

1

29 Jul 2026 18:26:35
Rather sign no one than have Tomori? What's your thought process behind that, then?

0

29 Jul 2026 18:33:20
Cos we need a CB doesn't mean we should just go sign any Tom, Dick and Harry that pops up.

Nah, Tomori ain't it when we have Zabarniy on the table.

0

29 Jul 2026 19:20:49
@KopEnd1, because he's crap and I'd rather we didn't sign players just for the sake of it as you end up stuck with them for 3-4+ years wasting a valuable squad place and precious money.

0

29 Jul 2026 13:05:40
Hi all,

While personal terms are agreed, there is an anticipation inside Anfield that sorting the finer details with PSG may drag on. I am unsure if a deal will be concluded this week.

In the meantime, Bradley Barcola has begun house hunting.

44

29 Jul 2026 13:46:47
Cheers, Vic.

2

29 Jul 2026 13:47:44
Tanks VG.

0

29 Jul 2026 13:58:43
Cheers, VG... Big Sigh.... :-(

0

29 Jul 2026 14:03:01
I seem to recall all the above optimism when Florian was wanted!

2

29 Jul 2026 14:10:11
Cheers, VG.
Here's hoping it is sooner.

1

29 Jul 2026 14:20:46
Sick of it. Why can't we just sign someone without drama?

14

29 Jul 2026 14:24:10
If he signs I'm happy, don't really care when, cracking player.
He will be in Cheshire, club where looking for suitable abodes back in May, and I believe Jacquet has chosen Cheshire too.

4

29 Jul 2026 14:30:52
Rudjo, how are the summer holidays going?

3

29 Jul 2026 14:35:10
Kick off price in Crewe is still only £75k so they'll be spoilt for choice.

2

29 Jul 2026 14:46:53
The longer it drags on, the more chance there is for things to go wrong.

1

29 Jul 2026 14:58:34
Picking up bad vibes now.

3

29 Jul 2026 14:58:44
@Rudjo, you mean like Jacquet and Munoz?

1

29 Jul 2026 15:04:22
@Rudjo,

What? Do you mean like Munoz?

2

29 Jul 2026 15:04:34
These big signings do seem to take us a long time compared to other clubs.
Just hope we get this one done sooner rather than later.

2

29 Jul 2026 15:16:36
Barcola is a star player, pretty sure most of us don't know who Muniz is until we sign him. We will drag that Barcola transfer the whole summer, maybe we can miss it even.

We are run by not very good people in transfers. Pretty sure we are gonna miss a defender too, no matter that the only available CB we have is VVD. But with Hughes, this is it.

1

29 Jul 2026 15:40:40
Rudjo, you're just lying for dramatic effect. You're not the first, and you won't be the last, I'm sure. I really cannot be bothered to go over this in depth again, so if it all kicks off in a long panic-ridden thread of hyperbole, you'll be talking to yourself.

As it stands right now, we have Virgil, Jacquet, Ndiaye and Chambers in training who will all be available against Newcastle on the opening day of the Premier League season.

If it's the pre-season game against Wrexham you're worried about, firstly, why? And secondly, we have Ndiaye, Ndukwe and Chambers available for that game.

Iraola has already said Jacquet is fully fit and training well, it's just a precaution to wait until the Leeds game in 5 days time, where he will be playing. First game is still 4 weeks away and the transfer window doesn't shut for 5 weeks. Just chill bro.

5

29 Jul 2026 15:53:29
Someone just took a picture of him in Greece on vacation.

0

29 Jul 2026 16:01:57
Rudjo, ...maybe Drama doesn't wanna play for us.

2

29 Jul 2026 16:12:51
Rudjo, the "drama" started when we changed our approach to signings and went all in on quality (yet expensive) signings. I suppose it's expected under the circumstances, as there will be higher profile existing clubs, reputable agents with decent reputations and the standard bigger clubs who will also be mooching around the players.

1

29 Jul 2026 16:43:49
Is Rudjo Harry with even less brain cells?

2

29 Jul 2026 16:51:54
Drip... drop... drip, Ron.... Keep the faith!!

0

29 Jul 2026 16:54:00
MK,
Chambers? You're throwing up names who have hardly played a game for Liverpool and are unlikely to ever play for them again, as options. Why not get Billy Koumetio back and we could really improve the depth?

7

29 Jul 2026 17:16:38
Meh, it's only £140mil roughly, should be done by now... Taking their sweet time!! lol.

0

29 Jul 2026 17:22:55
Kemlyn, that's irrelevant. The fact is we do have more than 1 CB. Do I think we should add to what we've got? Yes. But don't just post bare faced lies to dramatise the situation.

"When I look at Luke Chambers I think 'wow, he has everything for a centre half, apart from a body'." - Jurgen Klopp, 2022

It's 4 years later and he's grown physically so at least give the kid our support whilst he's a Liverpool player. Klopp's forgotten more about football than you know. It's okay to say we need more depth without trashing the players we have. You're turning into one of the most classless posters I've seen on here in some time. You're constantly slating and mocking our academy and squad players whenever anybody mentions them.

Man, the literalists on this page. Regardless of Jacquet and Munoz it's clearly implied that we should be doing our business more efficiently. We don't look prepared for a season that starts very soon!

29 Jul 2026 18:03:50
That's fine, Frode, but we don't have to pretend 75% of the players at the club don't exist or imply they are absolute chancers. You don't end up at Liverpool unless you have at least some talent.

I'm 100% behind the argument we need to do business before the season starts. Based on last season and who has left the building, we're weak at right back, short in the forward line, we're an injury away from being short at centre back, and our midfield lacks defensive balance. That's all true. But it's also true that Iraola has thus far only had a single 90 minutes with a skeleton crew, and he literally said on his first day in the job that he would treat everyone like a new signing and give them a fresh start.

Can we not give the players the same grace?

There's 5 weeks left until the window shuts. We've signed 2 very well thought of players in Munoz and Jacquet, changed the whole coaching team, and we're seemingly very close to a deal for Barcola that might even break the Premier League record. I just find it so disrespectful to be so utterly dismissive of the players who are giving their blood, sweat and tears in this pre-season to prove to Iraola that they deserve a chance.

If people want to be miserable and negative, that's up to them, but don't mock our own. It's classless. Personally, I'll be tuning in at 00:30 tonight to enjoy watching the team regardless of who is or isn't playing.

MKS, I propose you let the rage baiters be. It's like talking to a wall.

Literally nobody wants that Kemlyn, I simply do not believe you've seen that anywhere on any platform. Anyway, done with this now. Stop lying. Simple.

Hi Diddly Ho,

Ben Jacobs reporting Barcola bid imminent.

The case usually is that decent journalists are a step or two behind.

Gakpo does want to stay; but that doesn’t mean he will. Dortmund have withdrawn their interest, Bayern are still mulling an offer.

Diddly out.

29 Jul 2026 13:44:25
There can't be that many clubs out there that could afford Gakpo's fee and wages while also needing a left sided attacker.

29 Jul 2026 13:46:41
Thank you Neddy.

1

29 Jul 2026 13:46:43
I would have thought that if Lucho was staying at Bayern, the interest in Gakpo would vanish.

2

29 Jul 2026 13:47:03
Cheers, Ned.

Tanks, Ned.

29 Jul 2026 14:01:25
I'd have zero issues with Gakpo staying.

29 Jul 2026 14:45:31
Cheers, Ned.

Ben Jacobs comes across as one of the nicer journalists and certainly tends to back his reports up with a lot of facts and clearly well investigated information.... Shame he still tends to be behind you guys tho. šŸ˜‚

29 Jul 2026 15:12:22
I am happy for Gakpo to stay. I think with a good level of fitness, and better coaching, he will be quality. He is also a likable guy, appears happy around the squad, and can score.

3

29 Jul 2026 15:16:02
Thank you, Ned.

I think we need the bodies, and Gakpo did better upfront for us last season than out on the left. We've only got Isak, and playing him every game would be a certain recipe for disaster.

Hopefully we can give him more chances to Gakpow with a different style of football.

1

29 Jul 2026 16:32:09
You cannot consider Gakpo "a body" when he is on that wage. He should be a priority to offload. You can't average squad players on bigger money than the whole squad.

Morning Gents.

Arsenal have tried to become part of the discussions regarding Barcola.

His reps and himself have told them no, as they expect an official bid from Liverpool.

Looks like this could be concluded this week.

Cheers

29 Jul 2026 11:35:35
Cheers Robbo, sooner the better.

4

29 Jul 2026 11:38:14
Cheers, Robbo... I thought they would try!

1

29 Jul 2026 11:38:41
Thanks, Robbo, I don't know why we don't crack on with the bid?

2

29 Jul 2026 11:44:37
Any reason why we're dragging our heels with this?
It seems Chelsea identify a player and within a couple of weeks he's theirs. We have been after some of these players for months, according to what I read here, and it's always 'next week'. Does it have anything to do with Hughes being distracted by his move to Saudi?

3

29 Jul 2026 11:53:40
It seems Liverpool's valuation of the player and PSG's are miles apart currently.

How quickly they can come to some middle ground remains to be seen.

Cheers Robbo,
Love you son... (red wine played a part in my response), but truly love your updates.

2

29 Jul 2026 11:59:24
Whoa there, SG8. Don't be pointing stuff like that out. The cope brigade will be out in force. We'll be fine with what we've got. Endo can play in 6 different positions, and a 35-year-old VVD can give us another 50+ game season. Also, don't know if you've heard, but Bradley and Gomez have promised to never get injured again.

3

29 Jul 2026 11:54:46
Love it. I was initially worried about having to compete with Arsenal, but somebody mentioned he wasn't a fan of their style of play. Finally, Haram ball reaps what it sows.

9

29 Jul 2026 12:19:32
Jonno from down the chippy said Barcola won't go to Arsenal because he doesn't like the amount of gel Arteta uses on his hair. I choose to believe that unsubstantiated rumour because it's what fits my narrative and what I want to believe.

8

29 Jul 2026 12:27:00
Is this the time for Arsenal to offer that extra £1?

8

29 Jul 2026 12:33:48
I like that Taurus. šŸ’„

29 Jul 2026 12:36:31
Cheers Robbo, can't wait to see his sun bed lean as he's on holiday.

29 Jul 2026 12:52:03
Thing is, though, people. If Arsenal offer more and PSG say yes, that leaves a problem surly? I point this out as soon as V J got told by Madrid he's going nowhere. We have dragged our heels on this. The Crystal Palace debacle, being my point. We missed Semenyo and Marc G because of what looked like dithering.

Let's see what happens. But if I'm selling my property and I want £10 for it, you offer £6 and some bloke from London offers me £9. I'm accepting his bid. I don't care what happens to my item afterwards. So hard ship if Barcola doesn't like the way Arsenal play.

I don't get our tactics. They make no sense.

2

29 Jul 2026 12:59:22
The problem is he's a 40 million £ player being valued at 100 million. If he was that good he'd be starting in PSG's team and wouldn't want to leave.

2

29 Jul 2026 13:01:09
But maybe Barcola has given assurances that he only wants us, and will refuse to go to anyone else.

We heard so many times on here that we can't force a player to leave, because they didn't want to extend their contract (re Konate and Szobo debate in recent times).

So, in the same breath, if a player only wants to join a specific team, that team can seem to take a little longer to get the deal done.

We don't know what is happening behind the scenes, but hopefully it's not another Semenyo / Guehi situation.

1

29 Jul 2026 13:04:26
Haven't you heard it's nailed on. Put your mortgage money on it.

14

29 Jul 2026 13:04:47
We shouldn't go in offering silly money just in case some other team might make a bid. We should bid what we think he's worth, and if they don't accept, move on and strengthen a different area of the team.

2

29 Jul 2026 13:05:50
Chrisymate, for your analogy to be correct, your property would have to like the bloke from London also.

3

29 Jul 2026 13:09:09
Cheers, Robbo.

Why would he want to play Arteta-ball anyway?

0

29 Jul 2026 13:12:42
According to some on this site, Guehi and Semenyo's mum gave assurances as well.

Yeah let's follow Chelsea's example lol.

29 Jul 2026 13:16:25
Just a note for who said Vini was told no by Madrid.

That's not what happened. Madrid would be fine for Vini to go for about 100m. The issue was (and will be in future) that Vini wants 525k per week in wages and some high bonuses as well.

Personally, I see Vini going to Saudi at the end of his contract and just waiting it out at Madrid until then unless someone is willing to meet his wages.

29 Jul 2026 13:33:21
Sorry Smart Ars - I mean Meijir, the person who mentioned Barcola didn't like Arsenal's style of play was one of our ITK's.

Not quite as reliable as your Jonno down the chippy, maybe, but good enough for me.

29 Jul 2026 13:35:34
Thanks Robbo, love it when players actually want to come to us. Let's hope it gets done before next week and we can focus on Rayan.

Tanks, Robbo.

Well done Ed001, you gave him every chance to pack it in.

29 Jul 2026 15:18:33
Nice one Robbo, if we get this over the line the taste will be even sweeter, knowing that he turned down the set-piece merchans for us!

The great man (ed02) once said don't worry and don't get in to finances. Every team is overpaying for players and wages.

Damned if you do damned if you don't.

If he becomes a red i'll fully support him and hope he does well.

If not it's just one of those.
