10 Oct 2017 20:25:11
Hi All,

Can hasn't signed a contract because he knows Klopp is not fully convinced by him.

Also Liverpool has always been for sale while FSG have been in charge, every potential buyer knows the price.

Cheers

Macca.

10 Oct 2017 20:30:22
Thanks Macca mate good to see you back on here.

10 Oct 2017 20:48:40
I'm not convinced by Can either; let him go.

10 Oct 2017 20:51:56
Brilliant Macca thank's for the information.

10 Oct 2017 21:34:06
Not sure many of us are totally convinced by him, when he's good he can look really good and dominate a game however when he is bad he is dog dirt . you can normally tell in the first five mins of a game if he is going to have a stinker.

10 Oct 2017 21:42:49
He just a kid. Wish we stuck with him. This is him now at this age, are we saying he has reached his ceiling?

10 Oct 2017 21:52:54
I think he should stay.

10 Oct 2017 22:14:26
I personally like the kid, but more importantly he has to do what's right for his career and moving clubs may well be his best option. I wish the lad all the luck in the world, I hope it works out for him should he move on.

10 Oct 2017 22:14:57
What is Can's best position.
People say he's young, we have younger better players.
He's a big unit, but he doesn't use it effectively.

Nothing against Can, he's been a model pro, but he is just not good enough I'm afraid.

10 Oct 2017 22:32:54
Ive been convinced he has been going for a long time now.

10 Oct 2017 22:36:42
Cheers Macca,

So any interested parties in the club and what is the figure to buy us?

Baz.

10 Oct 2017 23:18:21
People want new signing like kieta but also want to keep can. you are aware it 11 a side game yeah.

10 Oct 2017 23:26:50
I think Can could end up being the one that got away, he has the build, drive and skills to be a Monster in CM .
Oh and everything is for sale everything, no insult Macca, 1 Mill you can have my ma.

10 Oct 2017 23:28:08
Who are the younger better players Ron?

10 Oct 2017 23:37:28
So if we've always been for sale since FSG have been in charge what does that tell us. It tells me they rescued as some say (bought the club at a cheap price) with the intention of making money from it with a sale from the outset. Everyone on here takes Macca's word as gospel so it will be interesting to see what people's thoughts are now regarding the owners.

{Ed002's Note - Well he has kicked off a Can hate campaign and no doubt it will be the same for the owners.}

10 Oct 2017 23:51:08
This isn't anything new so don't really see the point of the post macca, like ed002 says, just sets up two hate campaigns. Can we get back to galactic world class team please. What's the team so far ed?

{Ed002's Note - I would need to check in the morning .}

10 Oct 2017 23:58:43
Okay cool. An just to explain I'm not having a dig at macca, it's more the posters that will now use it as an excuse to moan. For example, waiting for waro and ozone to crawl out of their rocks to give it stacks about the owners.

11 Oct 2017 00:24:17
Shame. Feel he could be great. Best of luck to him but maybe he could get a proper holding midfielder to replace and release Hendo further forward where he is more effective.

11 Oct 2017 00:51:53
Macca just posted what he believes is accurate info on Klopps view of Can - not sure why that should start any sort of negativity towards Can.

Reality is he seems a good kid and quality player but maybe Klopp just doesn’t think he works perfectly for his system? I can see why Can would work perfectly for someone else though as he’ll be an excellent all-rounder given time to develop his read of the game and in a league that’s a little slower and where his size will be an asset and his lack of acceleration/ mobility less of an issue.

11 Oct 2017 00:52:23
Macca has opened a Can of worms,

Can is running down his contract as he is entitled to do, probably with Klopps discreet blessings if Macca is to believed.

I'd say if Kieta happened last summer Can would be at Juve now,

Same applies, if Kieta by some chance happens in Jan.

Any chance of Ed2 having a bit of a whip round to collect for a rumour buy out, Fronted by Ed2,

What a person to have dealing with unscrupulous agents and spoilt players,

11 Oct 2017 05:23:18
Jayden so what if they bought the club to make a profit? We could have an owner like Moores who ran the club purely for his own pleasure (has he even set foot in the club since he left) and created many of the issues we see today. As long as we have owners who want to run the club in a professional way such that it improves each year then i don't care why they bought the club. FSG aren't running the club into the ground, they are putting money into improving the facilities, they are funding the purchases of new players. Which begs the question - What exactly do you want from our owners?

11 Oct 2017 05:51:28
I want owners who want to own the club and are willing to do everything long term. Not look to offload it the minute someone meets their billion dollar price target.

11 Oct 2017 06:38:00
Yes they maybe looking to sell given the opportunity, we have to remember it's because these are businessmen at the end of the day. Football, since the involvement of BSB in 1992 has now become a business unfortunately. FSG's baby is the Boston Red Sox, baseball is their game.

I don't though, think they have been bad owners, they've given the managers plenty of money to spend and when we've sold players like Torres and Suarez the money has been invested back into the squad. it's just we have not always bought the right players.

They've invested in a new stand giving us an extra 8,000 seats, though a lot of those are cooperate but that's where the money is unfortunately.

Can they complete with the Glaazers, Abramovich and the Shieks at Man City when it comes to spending power? Ed 2 would probably be the best person to answer that.

11 Oct 2017 07:21:02
Jayden - I'd be with you if FSG were sittin on their hands waiting for the market to drive our price up and then just sell for no investment. But that is simply not the case mate.

11 Oct 2017 09:05:45
Let's hope can gets into klopps thinking by way of some outstanding performances- starting with united.

11 Oct 2017 08:52:43
Sorry if I missed it, is there any people looking to buy us? I know Macca said we have been up for sale since FSG came in but has there been real contact made by serious people to put a formal offer in? Do FSG have people actively looking for buyers or is a case of if someone comes to them.

{Ed002's Note - I am going to leave this for Macca who will no doubt be providing details of the potential buyers for you.}

11 Oct 2017 11:08:51
I'm fairly certain when there is news on a sale of the club ed2 will let us know.

11 Oct 2017 12:16:59
Cheers Ed002.

11 Oct 2017 12:55:09
At the risk of being accused of hating I am going to stick my neck out and say that all of our central midfield is weak. This is one of the softest group of midfielders I've seen in an LFC side for over 40 years.
As well as not providing much quality, the trio of Can, Henderson and Wijnaldum do not provide much steel in the centre of the park.
I do not hate Can but I would not mind it if he left and we brought in a grittier replacement.

11 Oct 2017 20:44:10
Supermane, you mean like Naby Kaita?

11 Oct 2017 22:38:55
We need more than one player to come in at CM
How many of the top 6 teams would Hendo or Gini be first choice.

11 Oct 2017 23:29:20
Good luck to Can if and when he leaves in the next few months.
It's been coming for a while now and nothing wrong with running down his contract.
Hope he has a successful career in Italy or back in Germany.

10 Oct 2017 19:46:32
Really bad news about Mane, but, if we are a team that wants to challenge for titles and in Europe on a regular basis, surely times like these will prove it right?

Believable11 Unbelievable3

10 Oct 2017 20:06:35
Lets hope the Ox can step up over the next few weeks then. That’s what he’s here for right? Don’t expect him to Saturday though. Usual defence and Midfield, Salah, Couts and Bobby up top I reckon.

10 Oct 2017 20:17:20
Spot on, Westwood. Time for Ox or whoever gets in, to put their big boy pants (or shorts in this case) on and go out there and prove himself.

10 Oct 2017 20:23:11
Gutted about Mane, but let's be honest, he is 1 player, arguably our best. Now it's time to show we can still do it even without one of the top players, I believe we can we just need to stay focused. Utd are also missing top players, so there's no excuses. Same goes for the rest of the games, these things happen. The international breaks are a right pain in the backside.

10 Oct 2017 20:27:52
Is mane injured? In training? Gutted, our best finisher bar coutinio. At least we got couts eh! A whole summer on the edge of your couch waiting for Barcelona to announce the signing of coutinio. We stood up for ourselves. I can't remember who posted it but it was brilliant, it went.

"Jog on Barca! "

Losing mane is a massive blow. Look at our win rate with mane in the team and then when he is not. I'm hoping a surprise adzm lallana might make the team or the bench. AOC needs to shoe us why we paid £35.000.000 for him on Saturday.

10 Oct 2017 20:32:16
Superred91 yes mate, we need AOC to really step it up now, I honestly think he will as well, we can only hope, let's see what he's got.

10 Oct 2017 20:33:09
We’re poor in defence and weak in midfield, now one of our most effective attackers is out for six weeks. That’s top four gone.

10 Oct 2017 21:55:00
I think he will come good corleone mate, arsenal play nice football and they offered him a massive contract ro stay. He must have something eh.

10 Oct 2017 22:15:34
I hope so superred, you make a valid point there. Let's see if he surprises everybody, I think he will as well mate.

10 Oct 2017 22:34:43
What was senegals best player doing on the pitch in the 89th minute when they were 2nil up. they have lost him for the s. africa games now.

10 Oct 2017 23:57:13
massive blow to hear about mane i would give solanke a few games he scored goals in pre season and in the u20s give the lad a chance he's good in the air too. pointless bringing him in if he's just going to keep the bench warm.

11 Oct 2017 05:25:00
I think the ox is a good option to have when mane or salah get injured. The problem with ox, he clearly has good vision, but his execution is poor. The best advice to him is just to keep it simple with his passes and shots so we don't waste opportunities he will no doubtably get. he's got some of the worst shooting and passing i've seen in an attacking player, he just needs to acknowledge his limitations and play smart.

10 Oct 2017 18:42:07
Ed1 could they move all the qualifier internationals to after the end of the season, and then with these 2 multiple weeks wasted on them add them to the end of the summer so the players make there time off up and three could just have a continuous season without any of this stupid stoppages.

There's another one due in November. That's 6 weeks for players to off, if we had that extra space for games, we could even sing a 2 week winter break.

Believable9 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I think it would be better as well. Do a club season, then an international season. It would make much more sense than the current mess.}

10 Oct 2017 21:47:41
Exactly what I was thinking when I read about Mane. The clubs invest heavily in these players and cannot afford these injuries when we rely on others to look after their well-being
Club before Country club everytime.

10 Oct 2017 17:07:26
Hearing that mane is out for a few weeks with a hamstring injury.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - yes dom, bad news mate..

10 Oct 2017 17:26:39
Big chance for AOC. Hopefully he can take it. I'd love it if he scored a couple against utd at the weekend. Love it!

10 Oct 2017 17:59:14
I would put a large bet on Coutinho starting out wide and Ox in the middle. I hope i'm wrong.

{Ed025's Note - i think them positions will be reversed myself dawn..

10 Oct 2017 18:49:12
Would be nice to see Woodburn or Wilson given a shot but I doubt it'll happen.

Maybe Morneo or TAA could move up into one of the offensive wide positions?

In theory, we should have plenty of options so I really hope someone steps up and tries to make the spot in the team their own. Even if it's AOC or Milner!

10 Oct 2017 19:40:26
Coutinho salah firmino then hendo can and wiji is the most likely this weekend I would think.

10 Oct 2017 20:31:25
I agree with ed, the game will be won or lost in the midfield. They are missing pogba and fellini, cout's will be battling with matic for the whole game. AOC out on the wing in mane place. Massive blow, but at least they have injuries too.

10 Oct 2017 21:40:04
Superred91, I doubt the midfields will matter too much. I suspect MU will sit back and let Liverpool have the ball and counter attack when Liverpool lose possession. I'd be amazed if it was an open game and a battle of the best midfield. Liverpool will dominate possession and shots at goal. But that will be exactly Jose's game plan. Liverpool have the ball and we break and steal a goal or two on the break.

11 Oct 2017 12:21:50
Is there a reason Wilson isn't getting a chance, he is a stand out player for the U23's, looked very lively in the few cup minutes he got last season too, Woodburn would make a good advanced central midfield player imo, his close control and low centre of gravity gives him a nice combo added with a nice eye for a pass id be having him infront of Wijnaldum.

10 Oct 2017 16:09:14
The international curse strike's again. Mane out for up to six weeks. Club Manager's must absolutely despise international break's.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

10 Oct 2017 16:41:35
When it rains, it pours.

{Ed025's Note - thats a massive loss bingo, if his replacement is alex hopeless chamberlain then you are in trouble mate..

10 Oct 2017 16:52:52
In trouble is an understatement. werr f@%ked!

{Ed025's Note - not yet Jcw, football is a funny old game mate and now is the time for someone to step up to the plate..

10 Oct 2017 17:00:08
I doubt it will be AOC to replace him really. I just think that Coutinho will play on the left like last season, Salah on the right and Firmino down the centre with Henderson, Wijnaldum and Can in midfield.

Doesn’t say much for AOC that even with Mané and Lallana out, I don’t see him getting in the side.

{Ed025's Note - for me he has to play reid, otherwise why pay £40m for him?..

10 Oct 2017 17:09:36
Hate Internationals. Would have been nice to have two fully fit squads battling against each other. No idea when Pogba is back, but we look far less strong in midfield without him. Then Fellaini's aerial presence will be missed along with Pogba. Can you imagine Young swinging balls into Lukaku, Pogba, Fellaini, Matic, Jones, Bailly, Smalling and Rashford. I think Fellaini and Pogba is a huge miss. Mane will be a huge miss too.

10 Oct 2017 17:40:08
I can't imagine young doing anything of the sort as surely surely surely he will not be allowed to cut to his right foot as in previous games.

10 Oct 2017 17:21:06
Spot on, Ed25. I don't think Klopp will start AOC in place of Mane (who is a GUGE loss) . Like Reid said, he will go with Salah, and Cou on the flanks, Firmino iat CF with Hendo and Can and Wiji in a midfield 3. Wiji has not been good this season so if he does play, I hope he puts in a good perf. cos we really need it. As for Utd, not having Pogba and Fellaini in midfield is a blow to them which means our midfield (if they can get their crap together) can go toe to toe with theirs.

We have dealt with Lukaku well of late as he is yet to score a goal against us in his last 3 games and if we can limit the service into him, then we can stifle him. These games are too close to call BUT with us at home and Klopp's impeccable record vs the big teams since 2015, we should get a reult from the game hopefully, a win.

{Ed025's Note - a draw looks good to me now bingo..

10 Oct 2017 17:32:28
I'm sure he will play Ed025, but he has so far demonstrated that he has not settled in enough to justify starts.

{Ed025's Note - i agree mate..

10 Oct 2017 19:15:26
He is one player, a very good player, granted but if we can't cope with an injury to a player then we are in big diffs. It should not be used as an excuse for not getting results.

10 Oct 2017 20:21:47
Irish, if Chelsea lost Hazard or if City lost Silva or KDB, they would struggle as well at ;east at first. I seem to remember City struggle a lot when Yaya (in his prime) was off to the AFCON. It is not as easy as you make it sound. It is not that you lost a player. It is the stature and importance of the player you lost. Hopefully, we can cope with out him throughout his absence.

{Ed002's Note - Hazard missed the first month of the season. Difference is the fans of other clubs don’t whine as much.}

10 Oct 2017 20:36:26
Irish Rover, did you not see our results when Mane was not available? We were terrible. Oxlade Chamberlain clearly isn’t as good as Mane and we will struggle again. Any chances in the league are now absolutely gone. Out of contention in October is a new record.

10 Oct 2017 20:37:58
He hasn't exactly lit up the stadium when he's played has he? AOC I mean.
He has lost a lot of weight and I think klopp is still working on him, turning him into the player he wants him to be. I honestly think he will come good. A hell of a lot of money for a bench warmer. I think he is still a little overwhelmed with signing for his boyhood team, there is a lot of expectation on him and remember, he is only twenty three. Still a kid really, hard to believe, seems like he has been round for years. He will be one of the 700 games club I think. One day.

10 Oct 2017 20:42:47
Managers must have sleepless nights scared the phone is going to ring with bad news. Hope Bobby and Couts get back uninjured as well. Still fringe players need to step up and grap opportunities like this. AOX, Milner, Studge, plus Lallana soon. Solanke, Woodburn and Ings for 10 min cameos. Even as a write this to cheer myself up, the squad is threadbare.

10 Oct 2017 20:58:40
23 or not, like Walcott, Owen, Ramsey, Wilshere and Rooney he is injury prone and played from a very young age. He may be 23 years old, but he could have the body of a 30 year old. Generally players that start at the highest level at 16, last til their mid-20's to late 30's at the highest level and start to deteriorate. And I would say AOC has less quality than all of the above had at their best.

He could turn out to be a decent signing when looking back in years to come, but I wouldn't say he is a young player still at 23. He's been on the scene for like 7/ 8 years now and injured for most part.

10 Oct 2017 21:13:28
24 even.

10 Oct 2017 21:59:01
Good point Sydney. I don't think we would have paid for someone who was falling to pieces. Lampard Gerrard carragher fowler all players who started young and has long glittering careers, Gareth Barry, Beckham, gigs, mcmanaman, the list goes on.

10 Oct 2017 23:23:35
Did any of them play regularly at the highest level at 16? Fowler played at highest level 18-26. Mcmanaman 18-29/ 30. Beckham started at 19. Started going downhill way before he retired, during Madrid days.

I don't know. Footballers don't generally have long at the highest level with exceptions of course and AOC started young. I think Liverpool paid so much for AOC because he is homegrown and versatile.

I'm not saying he's a crock, just that his age may he irrelevant when you compare to a player who plays at the highest level at 19/ 20. I think AOC may dip before most his age. Like your Owens and Wilshere. And other injury prone lads playing from 16.

10 Oct 2017 23:57:58
Coutinho has started for Brazil so he will have a fitness test on Friday, therefore AOC may well get his opportunity. Firmino on the bench. Antonio Valencia didn't travel apparently which is great news for MU. He has become a very important player for us. Romero in goal for Argentina, although he is our 2nd keeper so not too important. I expect there will be fingers crossed that Coutinho makes it through the game unscathed and doesn't play the full game.

10 Oct 2017 16:02:46
Great! Mane facing a spell out on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury. Don't you just love internationals.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

10 Oct 2017 16:12:27
Wonderful.

10 Oct 2017 16:13:16
Sucks yes, but this means the back ups have a chance to prove themselves Ox needs to make a statement now and run United ragged.

10 Oct 2017 16:42:53
Just great! Well as Kloppers said, time for the back ups to step up. Time for Klopp to coach them up.

10 Oct 2017 20:37:08
Oxlade isn’t capable of running them ragged, he’s a very ordinary player that we’ve over paid for.

10 Oct 2017 20:42:52
Gutted about mane but they don't have pogba so.

I ghink klopp ix still working on AOC. He look well different, much thinner, which will make him even faster. He needs a good performance to lift his confidence, he has two paths in front of him, one is the path to glory and high stasis, the other is the road to Stoke City.

10 Oct 2017 13:26:17
Hello ed1, was wondering if you could give your England starting 11 for the world cup. Currently in a debate with people saying Wilshere should start due to hendo's "lack of creativity"

Believable0 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - sorry mate, I wouldn't have a clue about England, I take little notice of international footie but Wilshere would not get in my team if I was picking a Sunday league team, let alone an international one.}

10 Oct 2017 14:15:33
It's not too late for you English lads to play the British card and start supporting N. I. More interesting than watching England and I've got a mate who can get you genuine (nearly) N. I shirts for a tenner, you'll look great and you'll get to see some real football 😆.

10 Oct 2017 14:23:11
Lol ed01. Wilshere in front of Hendo? Whoever says that is crazy. Watching England has become so boring. The boys walking about with the ball at their feet. It's like they refuse to break into a sweat against these smaller teams. Lithuania, malta, iceland etc. One of the exceptions is Jordan Henderson. I don't know what people are talking about saying he isn't creative? He has been involved in every goal England has scored recently. Henderson came into some criticism a few weeks ago and since then he has been brilliant for both liverpool and england. For me there are two names that are automatically on the England team sheet and they are Henderson and Kane. ALi and Rashford are close behind although I have to say, I still haven't seen why there is so much hype around deli Ali. He doesn't look like he is trying for england and I don't watch spurs much. I have never been blown away by deli Ali though.

Question for the lad's and the eds if they have time. Who are the other options for the number 10 role for england? I'm talking alternatives to deli Ali. I would be much happier with Rooney than Ali. Ali was one of the players who completely fell to pieces against iceland. I don't get it? Deli Ali ain't that good. Kane would score even more next to coutinio.

{Ed001's Note - the problem is that England players are being managed by a safety first manager, so none of them have any creativity as they are being stifled. Southgate was a ridiculous appointment, he never even wanted the job and is a hopeless manager.}

10 Oct 2017 15:30:44
I agree with you ed01 mate, Southgate is too young, coz when we don't win the world cup and lose a couple of games he will get SO MUCH stick by the press and that Is his career over. Once you have failed with England you are in the doldrums for a couple of years. Southgate was doing fantastic with the under 21 team and now they have lost their manager too. I love watching England but it is so boring now. They literally walk about with the ball at their feet, They act like they are one of the top international teams, with Germany Spain and France, Italy but they ain't. We got well beaten by iceland, I'm worried for england without Gerrard and now rooney.

If you get a Centre back as a manager you are going to play some boring football. We have players like Rashford, Lallana and Ali who should be lighting up the game but the look really restricted at the moment. Rashford is some player, shame he is utd.

The hard question. . who would you choose to replace Southgate guys and eds?

P. s. I like Gareth Southgate as a man, seems a good bloke BTW. Was a great cb un his day, felt tor him badly when he missed pen (why was he taking one? )

{Ed001's Note - was he doing well or did he just happen to have very good players who did well and he got the credit? Only they have looked a lot better since he left....}

10 Oct 2017 16:10:05
Really ed01? I didn't know that. yeah they won the world cup didn't they!

If we don't perform in the world cup Southgate is going to be the next parsnip next to the turnip! He doesn't deserve that.

It worked for Italy though, the defencive game got them to the final of the euros. And juventus in the champions league. I don't think we have the outstanding cbs, Dmf and gk to play that way. Italy had buffon and bouniccio (sorry about the spelling) England have cahill and Hart, we should play to our strengths. Get that ball to Harry Kane and the lad will tuck it away, we have quick, tricky attacking players who can play down the wing or through the middle and whip that ball to kane., ;call up defoe too. Two deadly strikers, who WILL score if they get the ball, it's long ball (which I'm not a fan of) but we are up against some tough opposition, we need to stay compact.

Supporting England gives us an insight as to what it's like to support Stoke!

{Ed001's Note - please not Defoe, he is one of the most overrated players of all time, misses so many easy chances, then slots one away and everyone raves about him. He is not good enough at Prem level.}

10 Oct 2017 17:42:25
English people think creativity is playing the stupidest passes possible and taking credit when it once a season pays off. Hence so many rate Wiltshire. Just like they think that being strong or fast is the same as being talented, even if you have no tactical understand of how to use it. Hence they rate players like Zaha and Townsend despite their clear deficiencies as a player.

10 Oct 2017 17:44:14
I hope you mean not good enough anymore. The man has scored 159 premier league goals.

{Ed001's Note - and missed about 3000 great chances. He has been lucky to play in teams that set up purely to give him the ball in dangerous areas.}

I dunno ed, he is a pretty tight finisher isn't he? Ok not defoe, it has to be sturridge then but I don't think he is suited to the long ball game. Maybe even Andy carol for the high balls. I don't think we can beat Germany or Brazil by going toe to toe, we have to be cute about it. If harry kane has the ball in the penalty area then that ball is in the back of the net.

{Ed001's Note - not really mate it is a myth. He is one of those that misses loads then scores one and all is forgotten.}

Afternoon lads,

With the big game round the corner I was interested to know what people's predictions were. It's the one game of the season I genuinly don't enjoy. If you get a result it's the best, but before hand I don't enjoy it one bit to be honest.

Now I think there's more pressure on Liverooo than ourselves for obvious reasons, we've started well with dropping points just once, Liverpool have struggled so far. I think united can afford to lose but I'm not sure Liverpool can.

On current form I should be confident. Yeh in a game like this form goes out the window and you tend to turn up against us more often than not. I'd probably settle for a draw now to be honest.

We have a couple of key injuries, Pogba being he obvious one. And I think he's detrimental to the side. If he was fit I'd be a lot more confident of a win. It I had to predict now I'd probably say I fancy a draw.

What's you opinions?

Stand.

We haven't been playing well. But hopefully as per usual, form goes out the window and we can get a win. Honestly I don't even try and pick these games. Just hope we go out there and give it a good go.

10 Oct 2017 12:49:45
I'd be very disappointed if Liverpool don't win this one comfortably.
3-0 to Liverpool : Salah, Mane and Wijnaldum 🤝.

10 Oct 2017 13:03:19
3-2 to Liverpool Salah, Mane and Lukaku will be on the score.

10 Oct 2017 13:06:34
I'm worried also! If you hadn't improved in terms of goals I wouldn't have worried and I think it would have been a boring 0.0 but with us we know we have tos core to get any result as our defence is so poor so should be goals. I see one hammering the other and quite honestly I don't know who. I'm predicting 1.3 either way.

10 Oct 2017 13:20:45
I don't think detrimental means what you think it does stand? It means " causes harm" or sumin.

I think Jose will bottle it and play for the draw again. you're right, I think, when you say how important this game is to liverpool, it could change our season. I think it is just as important for utd, if utd win they will be hailed as serious contenders if they lose I think most people will be leaning more to city as title winners.

I'm with you in the sense that I find the tension too much to call enjoyable. If we win, I think we still have an outside chance of winning the league. Massive game.

On form utd have the edge but we are at home and I think we will win it.

10 Oct 2017 13:28:47
With Ron here. Every game against united I expect to beat them. This could really kick start our season. What I do not hope to see is our heads drop if we concede a silly goal or the ref makes a clanger. We've the players to score against their team regardless of any bus- that's what we should focus on.

10 Oct 2017 13:31:57
2-2 is my prediction. And I will take that no problem, it won't be easy for either teams. I want it to come and get it out the way, the wait is a bit too much.

10 Oct 2017 13:40:53
If I was offered a draw now I wouldn't take it. No way, we are at home and utd haven't really been tested this season. It's our game to win or lose.

10 Oct 2017 14:14:46
superred, everygame is a test in this league mate, to say they haven't been tested is jumping the gun a bit.

10 Oct 2017 14:40:31
Can see us coming out the traps very quickly in this one, if we can take the chances I feel this will be a comfortable win. Big test for United also as their finally facing tough opposition.

10 Oct 2017 14:44:26
Always get a bit nervous before this fixture, mainly because Liverpool treat this game like the Champions League final. Being 7th or 2nd Liverpool will turn up and will be pumped for the game. So it will have goals.

I do disagree about Jose playing for a draw. That simply wouldn't happen. Parking the bus is not playing for a draw. It's keeping the other side from scoring by sacrificing your attack somewhat. That doesn't mean there will be no goal attempts though.

Yes we will probably adopt a 352 which will look a lot like a 532 at times, but we will try to win the game. Jose will be disappointed with a draw and wouldn't take it if offered now.

10 Oct 2017 14:49:42
We’ve shown we can handle Lukaku before provided we can limit his service however set pieces will be a factor - give away too many balls into the box and he’ll score. Rashford also worries me though, especially as our defence struggles against pace. I do think our forwards will discover some form again though, particularly at home in a big match. I’m going for a 3-2 win and for it to be the result that triggers a Chelsea like dominance to take us to the title! 😁.

10 Oct 2017 15:35:12
Corleone dude, I get what you're saying mate but Utd haven't played any of the top teams yet have they? Im not sure actually. We have had Arsenal and City. Utd's biggest test has been Stoke away 2 2 draw hasn't it?

10 Oct 2017 15:39:59
Love it SGRED, I think you're right actually, some people will read your post and see the raw optimism and smile, but there is truth in that as well. I think a win over Utd will proper kick start our season and our forwards will find their form. I think firmino will score and I reckon AOC might score a screamer.

10 Oct 2017 16:19:51
I hate to be pessimistic, especially against United but I just can't see us winning. Draw or lose depending how Jose sets up his team. Hoping to be proven wrong and then it'll be a bonus!

I fully expected us to batter City when we played them and couldn't have been more wrong, it was a real reality check for us. Only time will tell!

{Ed025's Note - they have played no-one yet A.C. and although they have looked decent and have scored a lot of goals i think this is their biggest test to date and liverpool are well capable of beating them mate..

10 Oct 2017 16:26:33
Hmmm, think this is going to be a painful match. Sadio is now out and Phil and Bobby don't even kick off till tomorrow morning so I doubt they will be fighting fit to start Saturday midday. Hate to say it but I fear we will get tonked 1-4 :o ( I will be hiding behind the sofa. or a bar somewhere.

10 Oct 2017 17:17:07
Are Coutinho and firminio playing in like 7 hours? or 31 hours?

Either way with time zones, travelling, possible injuries. Must be terrifying for Liverpool fans. I guess Valencia for us is playing then too?

10 Oct 2017 17:44:43
It could easily be 5-0 or 0-5 - both teams look capable of ripping the other to shreds.

10 Oct 2017 17:49:45
00:30 tomorrow morning UK time. So whilst I'm sure they'll have a comfy private jet to get them back, there's still the risk of fatigue/ injury IF they play and then the travelling. I'd assume Valencia is in the same boat (or plane! ha ha ha)

{Ed002's Note - Private jets are not "comfy". They are convenient.}

10 Oct 2017 18:18:10
Doesn't that depend on whether they are "non-standard" private jets ed?

{Ed002's Note - The clubs will share the cost of a run-of-the-mill standard rent-a-jet Ron. Typically something like a GV or G550 because of the range. In the past Mr Abramovich has offered to use of The Bandit to ferry players from various sides back to England - when convenient of course.}

10 Oct 2017 22:20:03
Thanks ed 😘
It was a slightly rhetorical question after VVD was spotted flying "non-standard" private jets during the transfer window 😁.
I do appreciate the answer though ed and once again displays your great breadth of knowledge. Your knowledge is undoubtedly "non-standard" 😉.

10 Oct 2017 11:09:37
Phew. Had organised a weekend on Fraser Island here in Queensland, 4 wheel driving with the wife. Didn't realise the Utd game was on. Well, the footballing gods have smiled on me and there are severe storms forecast 😀
I know our form has been patchy, and FaceTimed my older brother in Fazakerley who is already sweating on the game. I'm pretty optimistic, think we'll cruise to 3 points actually.

i'd name fish after you in the reef if we do burkeyboy. :)

10 Oct 2017 10:12:44
Have to say after watchin the ire v wales game last nite I'd take Randolph over migs anyday and Randolph is muc so it doesn't say much!

Believable2 Unbelievable4

10 Oct 2017 10:52:47
He's decent for Ireland but much of that is down to the back line being disciplined and there's quite a lot of cover from midfield. Typical O'Neil set up.

10 Oct 2017 12:21:22
Randolph was third choice at WH for a reason, OP.

10 Oct 2017 10:05:39
Predictions for the weekend everyone? Doesn't look promising really.

10 Oct 2017 10:29:36
Let's not be so negative, we're at Anfield, we know we need a result from this game, Utd are playing decent but it goes on the day. I'm going to say 2-2. Utd will be confident as hell, it depends what their tactics are, personally I don't think they'll park the bus, I think they'll attack us knowing how our defence is. This could be to our advantage if we counter attack them, let's see, looking forward to the game.

10 Oct 2017 11:58:06
Don't think they'll park the bus, but won't go all out either. Wouldn't surprise me if things click early for us and we're up a couple within 30. Would love lallana for a game like this.

10 Oct 2017 12:03:19
I hope your right Burkey mate.

10 Oct 2017 12:13:33
Last year I predicted that they’d batter us and I believe that if they go for it this year the same will happen. They could beat us 5-0 from set plays alone although I’m glad they won’t have the Fellini option. They could however come to bore us into losing 1-0 too.

10 Oct 2017 12:26:14
These types of rivalry games are always very hard to prdict. Also remember last season at OT, we played a blinder in spite of all our injuries and absences (Mane, Clyne and Cou coming back from injury) and were it not for useless decision from the AR who failed to see Valencia who was a yard offside, we would have bagged all 3 points as Klopp schooled Mou into playing hoofball as his team could not handle Klopp's variating pressing system for that game. We were underdogs then and we are more so now. We're at home, the crowd on our side and under Klopp, our record vs big teams is the best in the PL, period. Anything can happen.

10 Oct 2017 13:26:14
Your posts fill me with as much optimism and enthusiasm as your namesake's TV show JK. 3-1 Liverpool is my guess.

10 Oct 2017 13:27:30
I believe we will get the win to be fair. We always play well against the big boys. To be fair to utd they are on form. Lukaku could have allot to say, but this is their first test of the season. We already have played arsenal and city, i am confident, but it isn't going to be easy. We badly need the win.

10 Oct 2017 13:27:39
Nice optimism bingo, I think this game is perfect for us. I think Jose will set up very defencively. A lot of people have written lfc off this year, but as much as I dislike Jose, he knows what a threat liverpool are and he will set up accordingly. The
Longer it goes with no goals the more that plays into utd hands. We need to score early imo. I think Hendo and Can can boss their midfield, especially without pogba and fellini. This is the sort of game we could do with lallana.

Ed, any idea when adam lallana is due back?

10 Oct 2017 13:34:13
True bingo.

10 Oct 2017 13:51:07
4-1 to us, migs to score a hat trick.

10 Oct 2017 18:24:10
Don't know whether these post constitute blind faith or deluded hope but they sure are funny 😂.

10 Oct 2017 09:55:03
Apologies if you've already stated it Ed001, I'm sure you probably have. But who would you play as our number 1 keeper now?

To me it's a difficult one, Migs wouldn't be my first choice. Ward has the potential there, I really rate this kid but is he good enough right now? I just read your player profile on him (again) .

'Ward has a good command of his box'

'his ability on the ball. He is very much a modern day keeper, comfortable kicking or throwing it out to start attacks'

You word things a lot better then I so I'll quote you lol

'It seems quite odd that he is the third choice at Liverpool when he stands out as the one most suited to the way they play'

THIS is exactly my point, I don't understand how he is 3rd choice, it really does baffle me.

I'm not saying he should be number 1 but at least give the lad a chance more.

We have Karius, I don't know how you feel about Karius but to me he's never really been given a chance properly, he had them 10 games and everybody got ontop of him, nobody was patient with him, it's not easy to just come into the premier league and hit the ground running, the lad needed and deserved more time, imagine his confidence levels after he was dropped that to me was totally out of order, we should've stuck with him and supported him.

If it was upto me I'd be starting Karius, Migs would be THIRD choice for me, give both Karius and Ward their chances, they can't do any worse, surely? I hope to christ not anyway. If they did then we'd have serious problems lol.

Believable11 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - the reason I would go with Ward is simply because I have seen a lot more of him than Karius. I am not sure about Karius because he had little to do, so can't pick him, when I know Ward is a good solid keeper.}

10 Oct 2017 10:25:48
I'd be happy with either mate and understand your reasoning behind choosing Ward over Karius, be all and end all, we need to drop Migs.

10 Oct 2017 13:38:31
I think karius needs to be given a chance. Ward too. I know people knock migs a lot and I do too but. klopp must see these three in training everyday. They must know who the best one is. It must be migs or why is he constantly picked? That worries me coz migs is not good enough to play for a top six side. We have (EASILY) the worst keeper in the top six. Our defence gets knocked a lot too but they don't always get enough protection from the midfield and don't get organised enough by the keeper. We have a good strong midfielder coming next summer so for me, GK is the position that needs sorting. Whether we get someone in or give ward the shirt, maybe karius. But if those two can't get in front of migs well, that should tell you something I reckon. With a stronger midfield and strong keeper our defence will look a hell of a lot stronger.

10 Oct 2017 17:59:01
Superred, Ed01 has explained that Migs is being slowly phased out. I don't even know what the heck that means cos Klopp knows per Ed01, that Migs is crap hence why he kept both Karius and Ward. He could just bin him and give Karius a real chance to win the job chance as he is now the no. 2 in the pecking order BUT for some reason, he simply won't do it. This is where Klopp's biggest mistake is.

Also like you say, it may appear that Migs is better than both so he must be playing, right? If only things were that simple. Klopp knows or must know how many goals Migs has cost us this season alone (5, is the official count, could be more) and I'm pretty sure he knows Migs is not the answer BUT I don't blame those who think this way cos Klopp could end this farce once and for all.

But by continuing this farce, it is not helping the defence as they do not know who will be behind them as Migs is just poor across the board while Karius and Ward have commited one error between them in the 4 games they have played this season. it is a pity that Karius never has anything to do when he plays so we can judge him which is not a bad thing cos it may show that the defence is more stable cos he is much better and quicker off his line, and is well suited to the high defensive line that Klopp wants to play. Same with Ward.
