If I went into work tomorrow and threw my computer out of the window, slide tackled the boss and took a dump on the office floor I'd probably get sacked. Why are referees the only people on society allowed to consistently make a mess of their job with zero consequences?

01 Nov 2026 20:12:38
Depressing state of the game. They almost seem to save the most ridiculous calls (or non calls) for Anfield, like it's some kind of point.

Agree3

01 Nov 2026 21:32:41
Not enough of them around to just be sacking them on a whim, unfortunately.

Agree0

01 Nov 2026 18:37:11
Been saying this for 18 months, Ali is a liability, ed001 you used to say he was the best with his feet even better than Ederson. You must admit now he just isn't up to this level. You can't win anything with an average keeper.

{Ed001's Note - if you say so.

01 Nov 2026 19:39:20
Honestly. One bad ball and you're crying about a great goalkeeper. The defenders could have done better. We had an entire game to score at least 1. We didn't and you're blaming an all time great keeper.

Agree6

01 Nov 2026 19:44:41
I agree Mark. he's been a liability all season with his feet and this costly error has been coming. Wasting your time point scoring with Tristan on here though, just hope Ali doesn't keep doing it else we will concede more goals as a result if he doesn't learn from today's error.

Agree3

01 Nov 2026 19:52:05
Has he done something today to upset you? I don't think he done anything wrong. Nothing he could do for the goal (I thought Van Dijk) could've cut the cross out. He also made a great save late in second half so not really sure what the moaning is about?

Agree3

01 Nov 2026 19:56:05
That save he made in the second was top drawer.

Agree8

01 Nov 2026 19:59:13
Sure it was a terrible pass from Ali but why's VVD taking a quick goal kick and giving it to Ali, putting him under unnecessary pressure in the first place? He's literally looking straight at Havertz who he can see is ready to make a b-line for Ali, he's literally begging Virg to give Ali the ball, just as much Virgil's fault if you ask me, not to mention Araujo actually saw Havertz spin off behind him into space, even checked to see where he was and still made no effort to track him, he failed to anticipate the ball could get as far as him simply because Jacquet and Virg were in front.

When the ball is struck for the cross, there's 3 Liverpool defenders who are all closer to it than any of Arsenal's men, but none of them manage to get a foot on it.

Agree2

01 Nov 2026 20:00:53
I am just peed off. I admire your work. Ali needs replacing.

Agree1

01 Nov 2026 20:04:44
I mean we are going to give the defence a pass then when Arsenal won the ball back? Yeah, Ali started it but by no means did he make the only mistake in that incident.

Agree2

01 Nov 2026 20:05:57
Yep, probably our best keeper ever certainly in my lifetime, but looks like he's coming to the end now. It's not one game, he's not looked himself now since start of the season. No point in being blinded. Same as Salah last season. Time to replace unless he can step it up another notch asap.

Agree1

01 Nov 2026 20:07:24
Worst take of the day.

Agree1

01 Nov 2026 20:13:11
Give you a clue then, your handle mate 😝.

Agree0

01 Nov 2026 20:15:25
Oh wake up. Ali is a liability he will cost us in games. He couldn't pass water. Many many keepers after an error make a good save. It's the oldest trick in the book. Unfortunately he finished at the very top level. That's not to say the forwards shouldn't wake up.

Agree0

01 Nov 2026 20:20:11
Van Dijk should also have closed the near post off.

Too many times over the past couple of seasons, he's facing our goal when a cross comes in.

Basic defending, nearest CB makes sure that ball cannot go across the 6 yard box.

Agree2

01 Nov 2026 20:50:52
Look a few weren't great for the goal. But Alli certainly played a part. Hes been dodgy with the ball at his feet a longtime now. After his error we never get the ball back before it's in our net. others weren't great but Alli definitely shares in the blame.

Agree0

01 Nov 2026 20:56:19
Doesn't Vvd pass it to Ali for like 90% of all our goal kicks for the last 5 years or so.

Vvd's biggest error was not attempting to cut out the cross and then Araujo for ball watching and not tracking the runners to the back post.

But yeah Ali started it with that pass.

Agree2

01 Nov 2026 21:10:36
Replace him with who? he's still in the top 5 in the world for me.

Agree3

01 Nov 2026 21:46:42
Wow he's not top 5 in the league.

Agree1

01 Nov 2026 21:54:43
What a bunch of crap. Best goalkeeper Liverpool ever had and you want to replace him for a mistake.

Agree4

01 Nov 2026 22:20:14
JK23, but Tzolis is on the edge of the box waiting like a sprinter at the blocks to run at Ali, and we're completely out of shape as the rest of the team seems to be expecting a long ball, having pushed way up the pitch.

You can see VVD clock Tzolis and almost second-guesses giving it to Ali, but he does it anyway – poor judgement in my opinion.

Agree1

02 Nov 2026 04:35:05
I like how you just ended that argument with "if you say so", Ed. It's like when you're arguing with the missus and you know that, no matter how many logical counterarguments you come up with, she just won't listen. So you simply give up and say, "If you say so.".

Agree0

{Ed001's Note - it is pointless getting into an argument. Ali made a mistake, he has not been at his best with his kicking but he still picked out a great ball to Gakpo later in the half. I have to say, he has been overtaken by Suzuki, but he still has quality with his passing, when a ball is on. The problem is that we stopped playing to his kicking strengths in recent years and started doing too much passing around at the back.}

02 Nov 2026 06:32:10
Chewy very true.

I actually think Ali should have given the ball back to Virg or gone long.

Quite a few poor error of judgements in the goal.

Agree0

01 Nov 2026 19:02:19
Apology coming in from pgmol tomorrow. It does us absolutely no good. An apology for a blatant missed call especially with VAR should come with suspensions without pay for all involved. If not, just do away with VAR.

01 Nov 2026 19:28:11
Indeed, Stone. How anyone can watch that and think LFC weren't blatantly robbed by the ref and VAR (not arsed who he is), is diabolical and extremely baffling.

Agree4

01 Nov 2026 19:28:37
Having said that, it isn't the reason we lost. No shots on target with that forward line is inexcusable.

Agree8

01 Nov 2026 19:46:21
Surprised Webb has issued it already tbh mate. sure it was already pre prepared before KO.

Agree1

01 Nov 2026 19:47:30
Guaranteed soft penalty next week at Palace for us.

Agree0

01 Nov 2026 19:54:05
It's a factor, but we didn;t deserve more, Nyoni could have gone, and alexis and Gakpo were embarrassing.
I love to complain about how terrible Arsenal players are at diving, so it annoys me when our own are as bad.

Agree4

01 Nov 2026 19:57:17
Kind of agree but against probably the best defensive in the world right now.

Agree0

01 Nov 2026 20:10:14
That's the Forest pen, Grav booking and blatant Timber shirt tug now that have all been material to the result.

Disappointing isn't it?

Agree4

01 Nov 2026 20:52:57
Statto has a point. Against anyone else we have 6 or 7 shots on target today.

Agree0

01 Nov 2026 19:01:19
Disappointed with the result, but not with the performance.

We are on the right track, but we have to back AI in the January window.

At least one Midfielder with bite and legs and hopefully a RB as well.

01 Nov 2026 19:33:53
In the second half we created nothing.

Agree1

01 Nov 2026 19:40:18
We need a top lb not rb currently.

Agree6

01 Nov 2026 19:55:32
Yep, Just one of those days, the ball wasn't going in for us.
We were the better team, we played well and they got a bit of a fluky goal.

If we keep progressing we're going to have a good run in 2027 and put pressure on those teams at the top.

Agree5

01 Nov 2026 19:49:05
One midfielder made his Premier League debut today, congratulations Trey Nyoni (19) last two games played against caecido, lavia, Henderson, rice, guimares and more than held his own, he has a very bright future.

LB? needed more than a RB? Kerkez's problem is he has nothing between his ears? is there a case for Gomez LB? a defence of centre half's similar to Arsenal.

Agree4

01 Nov 2026 20:04:25
The latter 30 mins of the first half was good, we were very unlucky not to score. I think the 2nd half was not so good, we were hugely ineffective. I don't think it was the correct tactical approach; it didn't suit us, didn't play our strengths, there was no opportunity to release Barcola and utilise his speed, or Isak's timing arriving into the box.

We played exactly how Arenal wanted us to play, running into brick walls.

Agree2

01 Nov 2026 21:01:46
Good shout that Chewy, second half was easy for Arsenal. We edged the play overall but created little. Carraghers and Sturridges analyses after the game were also about right regarding our front three, they don't seem to have the moments of individual brilliance or ability to play off the cuff it's all a bit too predictable to edge tight games against top defences.

Agree1

01 Nov 2026 22:09:08
Clearview, didn't see the post match myself, what I do know is we didn't play to our strengths. Look at the Brighton game, we were willing to sacrifice possession to create space and utilise pace on the counter, and it was hugely effective. I actually suggested this time last year that it was the best way to get the most out of this squad, it would suit them much better given our weak points, especially now with Barcola. He's not like Rio, he's not great at taking players head-on in tight spaces, he excels at running in behind, his pace is blistering, yet we never took advantage of it.

We'd have been better off allowing Arsenal more possession in an effort to stretch them out and create opportunities on the counter that provide space for Barcola & co to run into. Sure, it's always risky giving big teams more possession, but it worked great against Brighton, and we know Arsenal are comfotablegetting 11 men behind the ball and weathering the storm.

Agree1

01 Nov 2026 18:31:09
It's got to be corruption now. If you're on VAR in front of a screen. Whichever way you look it's a penalty.
No-one can be that inept that they didn't see. Clear and obvious. yes.
FFS!!

01 Nov 2026 18:44:39
And the ref laughing with Gabriel under the tunnel and fist pumping each other.
Arsenal are a horrible side. They dive all across the pitch constantly disrupting the game.
This game shows me we're still a way off. Forward players weren't great atall. Kerkez isn't a Liverpool full back.

Agree9

01 Nov 2026 18:50:52
That was the reason for VAR, that exact scenario.

Agree7

01 Nov 2026 18:54:37
If the ref and Var were corupt they could have easily sent Nyoni off for his two mistimed challenges.

In every other league below the Premier League they aren't red cards but in the PL I've seen them given multiple times.

Saying that watching back I agree the Isak one should be picked up by Var for the ref to
Look at.

Agree3

01 Nov 2026 19:03:25
Isak was no threat at all either. Thought Barcola was poor. No shots on goal is inexcusable.

Agree4

01 Nov 2026 19:06:08
I thought we were only a "Camara" away from a title win. 😂🤣😂.

Agree3

01 Nov 2026 19:16:23
Ron
I agree we are not ready to challenge this season.
I will be controversial too, Allison is nowhere near the level he used to be, way off, and replaceable.
Kerkez is crap.
Araujo and Jacquet are exceptional.

Agree1

01 Nov 2026 19:21:48
Corruption? Give it a rest.

Agree2

01 Nov 2026 19:26:48
Unfortunately we can't really complain about diving when we have Mac Allister in the team.

Agree3

01 Nov 2026 19:41:16
I did say last week Barcola doesn't do enough and got shot down. Think we've been spoilt with previous front 3s with had unfortunately. Plus side Nyoni is looking the part.

Agree1

01 Nov 2026 20:07:55
Corruption implies premeditation and planning. Both require a degree of competence. Something we know for a fact that PGMOL completely lack.

Agree1

01 Nov 2026 20:10:01
Agree with JK, they're not corrupt (for the most part), just absolute dog rubbish, smooth-brained, gob persons who can't do their job with any level of competence whatsoever. There needs to be a panel of neutral ex-pros sitting over VAR's shoulder with the power to call them out and force them to reassess decisions on the spot.

Agree1

01 Nov 2026 20:38:28
Chewy, they are 100% incompetent.

Players don't help mind falling over and trying to con the officials all game. Managers need to take some responsibility as well.

I watched a good level grass roots game yesterday and the striker made an embarrassing dive and effed and jeffed when he didn't get it and the manager subbed him straight off for it.

Then told him In club house he was a wally or words to that effect.

Agree1

01 Nov 2026 21:01:31
In response to Rome 1977.
You have to admit that decision must either be inept to not see a shirt pull or the VAR have taken a bung.
In my opinion and everyone without exception that I've spoken that CANNOT have been missed. To appoint a professional who cannot see that is NOT an option. Therefore it must be a bung!!

Agree1

01 Nov 2026 21:13:04

Inept, incompetent, shower of s****, absolutely. But I don't buy that they're corrupt. That said, I haven't seen 50 replays like you probably have. But, even if I had, I won't be screaming corruption.

Agree0

01 Nov 2026 21:17:13
The play acting has to be dealt with by the refs, the rules are there, but they don't enforce them whatsoever. Gabriel today grabbing his face and throwing himself to the ground when Nyoni never touched it, it was even reviewed by VAR and no decision was made. Either it's a foul or he's diving, it's one or the other, it has to be a yellow card, if Nyoni had have touched his face, even accidentally he would have been booked, so why wasn't Gabriel when we can all clearly see he's diving and completely faking 'injury'.

It's a complete and utter joke, so long as these handbags aren't being penalised for diving, the game will remain a joke. The players will always try and get away with it when refs and pgmol allow it. Straight yellows for diving, end of story, no leniency for seconds. Blatant dives should be a straight red. It would change things overnight.

Agree1

01 Nov 2026 21:40:20
I haven't seen 50 replays Rome. I saw it clearly live as it happened then the replay confirmed it 100%. You didn't need to see it again but the boys on VAR would've done. Nobody is that inept. They can't be.

Agree0

02 Nov 2026 00:09:34
The officials saw the incident. They saw the shirt pull but deemed it not worthy of a penalty as it didn't restrict Isak enough.
Iraola is 100% correct, sadly. We need to start diving to get the decisions.

Agree0

01 Nov 2026 18:30:28
Genuinely. We are miles off a title.

That's City & Arsenal both beating us at Anfield

Our squad is good enough to get top 5, but in terms of going for the Premier League / Champions League, it's years away.

01 Nov 2026 18:37:43
I don't think many expected us to win the PL this season. but what i did expect was a bit more urgency in our play.

We looked like a Slot team at times today. so very slow.

Agree3

01 Nov 2026 18:41:20
Did you just pick up the result on teletext?

Agree1

01 Nov 2026 18:43:59
Why would you think we would be competing that quickly? It's it arrogance of being a Liverpool fan or just being spoiled for the last 10 years? Teams in transition to a new coach massive positives last few weeks we will be in and about in all comps to me.

Agree1

01 Nov 2026 18:46:17
It's not years. That game requires cool heads and silky passing especially against this Arsenal side. We're still soft especially upfront.

Agree2

01 Nov 2026 18:50:59
Apologies LFC8. I read that first time that we don't have a squad good enough for top 5 which I thought was way over the top.

I don't think we are years away. But this year was always a stretch. I'm not that impressed by Arsenal to be honest. They are hard to score against which is great but they are nowhere near the City side in their pomp (cheated as they did to get there). They are very catchable. Winning close games is a good skill, don't get me wrong but that will run out eventually.

We need a bit more gelling and a couple more additions but I could see us going close next season already.

Agree2

01 Nov 2026 18:53:26
I disagree mate.

Klopp arrived and talked about culture and identity. We are playing much much better and the signs are there.

As for the title, well that's classic fan fiction. Truth is, we aren't in the running and that's fine! But we are building something, we are getting that fight back. We are definitely not miles off.

Couple quality signings and we may see a title push in the future. Right man, right job!

Well done Arsenal. No excuses.

Agree6

01 Nov 2026 18:55:24
Arsenal defend like Wimbledon, I think if and when the strike force click we'll be better. Gakpo was on fire earlier in season but we have moved him to accommodate barcola?

Agree0

01 Nov 2026 18:56:06
Correct.

Agree0

01 Nov 2026 19:00:53
Just maybe it was more than Slot that was the problem.

Agree0

01 Nov 2026 19:02:50
We were all over them after the goal and spent large portions of the second have as the better team. They have a great defence and scored early. Cop yourself on a small bit.

Agree4

01 Nov 2026 19:03:20
It's not years away. I could be as little as one good transfer window if the club pick the right players.

Agree1

01 Nov 2026 19:10:27
Arsenal and Brighton for the title then with Liverpool, Chelsea and City all in new coach transition.

It beats being in "Spent 400 million defending champions transition" that the club were in last season.

Agree0

01 Nov 2026 19:21:22
I'm not sure how many miles the club are off challenging but they are currently 9 points off Arsenal which isn't massive and 8 points clear of United in 17th.

Agree0

01 Nov 2026 19:21:53
If that game was at Emirates and we narrowly miss out on a point due to some terrible referee decisions

I'd say the opposite of what I said there, but that was anfield, 1 shot on target, we are miles off challenging

It's not a criticism, I never thought we was close to the big trophies, I didn't think the summer window indicated that Challenging was our season objectives, it's just merely a fact that we're not at the level of Liverpool teams under Jurgan Klopp that constantly was in the top 5 teams in world football.

Agree1

01 Nov 2026 19:50:42
LFC8 no idea what you expected. tell you what I expected, Arsenal to be much better. We were clearly the better side and they were clinging on through last ditch defending. pretty good from AI after 10 games when Arteta has had 8 years to build his side.

Really pleased with the effort and pressing today, only yet another bent ref prevented a positive result - onwards and upwards for LFC under AI.

Agree0

01 Nov 2026 18:30:25
Two good teams, two losses. It was unlucky and i think we played our best football in the two games we have lost this season!

01 Nov 2026 18:35:41
Two horrendous refereeing decisions changed both games.

We have to work on ourselves but having such wrongful decisions go against you doesn't help.

Agree5

01 Nov 2026 19:20:48
What game were you watching we played shocking? The game was there for the taking but the team couldn't barely string a row of passes together. Barcola honestly I don't think I can remember seeing a performance that poor from a Liverpool player in years.

Futures bright under Iraola i think so this season il give him permission to try things to find his team for the future.

Agree0

01 Nov 2026 19:28:57
Garbage. The referee decision is irrelevant. There's half a billion pounds in the front four and Raya doesn't have to make a proper save or two?!?!. That's more relevant to me. That's in our control. Something is seriously amiss.

Agree1

01 Nov 2026 18:29:23
Arsenal are a team only a fan can love.

The are absolutely tripe to watch.

Think we are improving all the time. Once we get fully up to speed, we'll knock this boring lot off their perch.

01 Nov 2026 18:58:33
How's your grapes.

Agree1

{Ed025's Note - sour..

01 Nov 2026 18:28:20
Don't even know what to say about that to be honest.
