I've been saying van Hecke would be a good signing since last summer Window.
Even one of the eds asked if I was serious, but I just felt he would be and will be a great signing if the rumours are true.
Also hearing, we are beginning talks with Wolves for Gomes, but wolves want 55-60m and we are nearer the 35m
03 May 2026 11:40:53
What we definitely need is more Dutch players.
03 May 2026 12:19:27
Yes, let's add a centre back who is poor defensively and woeful in the air, that's a great idea.
03 May 2026 12:32:34
Van Hecke is bang average. Even yesterday, I watched him on MOTD and he was awful. If we go down the road of signing players like him, our target next season will be making the Conference League places.
02 May 2026 20:20:32
"Any truth to the Isak rumour? All reports seem to come from a single source (the scum rag)"
02 May 2026 21:13:10
Might be helpful if you say what the rumour is.
02 May 2026 21:53:40
Massive blow if true. Seems to be gathering pace, although I've seen a few saying it's fake. He was in the training video released and was fine during Slot's presser yesterday. What the heck?
02 May 2026 22:10:31
@Funky061, Every report says it is from the S*n and nowhere else. No official confirmation. Why would that rag have any insider knowledge, when Joyce and co are saying nothing. I think it is bulls***. They are saying he pulled his groin, but nothing was mentioned in the presser, only 4 hours before the story first surfaced. Suppose we will wait and see.
02 May 2026 22:30:34
Hope so Kirby. you're right, its mostly coming from the scum. Youd wonder how they out of all sources would have been granted the privledge of being the ones to break news. that's got Joyce written all of it.
Champions league is pretty secure but would be gutted not to have Isak get a run of pressure free games with Wirtz.
02 May 2026 23:58:26
Stoneage, that's not your groin.
03 May 2026 01:17:56
The Isak rumour is only with the Sun.
03 May 2026 01:55:10
Lewis Bower, who covers the academy and has contacts, has also indicated Isak is out.
03 May 2026 02:47:44
I still don't get how people insist they have nothing to do with The Sun yet quote a rumour. A waste of typing time, for several reasons.
03 May 2026 04:53:58
Who's groin is it then, Deisered?
03 May 2026 07:28:02
They are passing on the source of the rumour. That's all. It doesn't mean they have anything to do with the rag that tells lies.
03 May 2026 08:00:46
It should be like Voldemort on here. Not even mid-typed. Scum of a rag.
03 May 2026 08:13:32
I called Kelvin Mackenzie a "cubt" to his face in a lift in around 1999. He replied that he gets it all the time. And he is what I said he was - a aunt. Anyone associated with that rag should be treated like a pariah
03 May 2026 08:34:24
@The Real AG, I didn't read The Sun and never would. They were the source of about 20 websites, and I wouldn't have known that before I clicked them.
03 May 2026 09:40:37
Still no solid sources. I would have expected Joyce, Lynch, Pearce, etc to have something by now? Hopefully just more BS from the S*n?
03 May 2026 10:08:33
Sly Sports News saying it now as well. Usually pretty reliable when it's on there.
03 May 2026 10:16:13
SSN were referenced the S*n. It was in their paper talk section. He probably is injured, but I'm in denial, as we need him to get a result today, imo.
03 May 2026 10:16:32
Just found Ian Doyle's reply to a fan on X. He said: "Let's just say Liverpool may need to put some Academy players on the bench." So maybe the rumour has some legs after all?
03 May 2026 10:46:24
SlotSlitShatShot, truly great work calling him a cnut to his face. I applaud your efforts.
03 May 2026 10:59:42
I saw that the Mail on Sunday posted it, they ain't much better than the Scum.
03 May 2026 11:37:17
It was in the lift in canary wharf tower and I was pretty much shaking with rage to see him smugly grinning to himself. Only a decade after Hillsborough, I really felt like chinning him. Despicable human.
02 May 2026 19:54:08
So, word going around is that Isak got injured in training and will be out for some time. Please be a lie, please.
02 May 2026 20:40:05
Well, we only have 4 games left and probably need 1 win for CL.
02 May 2026 21:37:35
They have had 4 days off this week, and he still manages to get injured in training. You couldn't make this up. He's made of crisps.
02 May 2026 22:15:51
Why do I get the impression that kimuraking.tdeh is a thai LFC supporter, but in reality they are a teenager typing from his/her laptop from his box room in a house in Surrey.
02 May 2026 22:48:21
Careful there, Arne, he's a master of jiu-jitsu.
03 May 2026 04:54:44
Probably has a black belt in origami.
02 May 2026 18:28:28
I think it’s been staring us in the face this whole time: it’s going to be Slot and Alonso as joint managers.
02 May 2026 19:04:58
As long as Slot is the seen but not heard type, I can live with that.
02 May 2026 19:43:04
Hopefully Alonso, Manager?
Are-"NO" Slot has always insisted he's a top class Coach?
Add "Driver", and his new position is LFC "Coach Driver".
He can even take himself to the Airport and his motley coaches!
02 May 2026 22:16:13
I see that course you did on code-breaking at MI6 is coming in handy, Mr. Bond.
02 May 2026 22:58:13
Perhaps Xabi will be the manager on the days when Slot is in Holland?
02 May 2026 17:25:50
As I've mentioned before, Arne Slot is leaving Liverpool this summer, and will take up the post of either the Dutch National Team Manager when Ronald Koeman departs after the World Cup, or Ajax Head Coach. He has not decided yet which one to accept.
Family arrangements and privately accepting that he underestimated the size and impact of the Liverpool job are his reasons for wishing to depart and reevaluate how he wishes to direct his management career. He sees both Ajax and the Dutch National Team as excellent holding roles which will allow him to pursue other top roles abroad in the future if his family will support him in those ventures.
Nothing has changed whatsoever from Arne Slot's perspective.
I've no idea who is briefing the English journalists, but it is not Slot, or anyone from his side.
An educated guess would be Michael Edwards, as he is a known admirer of the Florentino Perez model at Real Madrid, and that not only includes the on-pitch principles, but the off-pitch manipulation of the narrative.
I have no idea who will succeed Arne Slot as my source is not from within Liverpool.
02 May 2026 17:55:45
It's a knockout!
Love it fella ...
Thx for sharing.
02 May 2026 18:58:27
I've heard totally different, Rocky. I'm told the club wants him to extend his contract and he is going to do so. Slot will be in charge next season.
02 May 2026 19:07:05
Kimuraking is now my least favourite poster.
02 May 2026 19:43:00
Ditto FPF.
02 May 2026 19:59:29
It seems Edwards (with Susan Black's know how?) has played a blinder of a disinformation campaign. Who knows what to think? On balance of evidence, I'm still in Carra's, The Fields, Robbo's camp that Slot will move on this summer.
02 May 2026 20:00:26
Slot will be here next season. No way he is being sacked after winning a title. There is no one else out there who gets near his numbers. A reset is needed - whether he can do it, I am not so sure.
02 May 2026 20:13:19
Carra has said Slot is staying @barakdee.
02 May 2026 20:14:31
It's amazing how many old posters now have contacts and how many new posters are ITK . This site is getting bonkers but I love it
02 May 2026 21:38:14
@MonsterSouness, Arne Slot communicated to the club his wish to leave in the summer a while ago. As I said in April before the PSG games, if Slot had won the Champions League, he was still going to leave. I believe it will be announced as a mutual agreement to part ways, rather than a sacking.
Slot has been involved in some player discussions for next season to portray an element of stability for the club for new signings.
It sounds strange that he'd essentially be lying to them about him being there and how they'd fit into his system, but it is what it is.
Thinking aloud (just my opinion), it might actually explain why the briefings to the journalists are that he's staying, as the club are moving for targets now i.e. Wharton, and they want to show continuity and stability, rather than new signings being uncertain on who they'll be playing under.
02 May 2026 22:17:28
Monster Souness, his numbers?
02 May 2026 23:00:12
@Kim, Slot doesn't need a new contract for next year. His current one lasts until 2027 I think.
03 May 2026 07:45:28
You are correct, Wdw. Slot, Hughes and Edwards' contracts all run out in 2027.
Talks would have been taking place between them and Hogan already. A full review will be taken as soon as Champions League qualification, or not, is confirmed.
Slot and his agent will have been looking at options before deciding 1 more yr or somewhere else.
The word around the ground is that Ward is going to take over Hughes' role. I believe that will be confirmed shortly.
03 May 2026 08:06:54
Not Ward again. Ffs.
I seriously question the running of this club, it is so without an original thought, shuffling deckchairs on the Titanic.
02 May 2026 12:45:15
Afternoon Gents.
I'm still being informed that Slot will not be at Liverpool next season.
I'm still being told Ajax want him. Slot is wanting a move away closer to home.
Cheers.
02 May 2026 13:19:38
Great news... He'd be better off in Amsterdam. He can have a smoke and a pancake.
02 May 2026 13:32:22
Great update, Robbo. Thanks.
What is pretty clear to me is that different sources are definitely getting different information from the club. Carra, Robbo, VG all seem to have slightly different stands. Actually, it seems like the club are trying to weed out the leaks. Let's see what the summer brings.
02 May 2026 13:36:49
Thanks, Robbo.
You are now my favourite poster.
02 May 2026 13:40:50
My sources completely clash with yours, Robbo. I'm hearing Arne Slot will be at a different 'Club' in summer.
Amnesia - Ibiza.
02 May 2026 13:41:12
Slot will be offered a new contract and will be manager next season. I've been saying this since January, as that's what my contact has been told. The club were never going to offer Alonso the job as Slot is their man.
02 May 2026 13:58:14
Nice one, Robbo.
All the noise I'm hearing points to the same outcome.
02 May 2026 14:02:20
These stories are amazing, Edwards and Hughes are really making us all second, third and fourth guess ourselves...
02 May 2026 14:07:45
Thank Christ for that.
02 May 2026 14:12:58
Hah! Love it.
Thx Robbo, Thefields and KT.
At this point, I just want the season to end ...
I'm either going to not look forward to next season with Slot .. or going to be excited and intrigued .. full of hope .. with a new man in charge ...
I wonder tho..... my memory isn't great with manager contracts....
Out of curiosity... how soon after they joined did Rodgers and Klopp get new contracts...
I'm just trying to piece together any kind of pattern... I always thought they gave Klopp a few new contracts .. one because he was making monumental shifts, progressing the club, but also making sure no other club would come knocking ...
I know contracts don't really matter as they would be paid off .. but it's the offer of one I'm thinking about ...
02 May 2026 14:14:05
Cheers, Robbo. I was saying that yesterday that I can't see how things can go back from where they are now.
For me he goes, I would not rule out him taking over the national team after the World Cup.
Don't think Holland will do very good and will replace the manager and that would suit Slot down to the ground part time job based at home.
02 May 2026 14:16:54
Kimuraking, absolutely no way would anyone in their right mind have been thinking of giving Slot a new contract in January with the run of results we were having & on the back of this season's results, & more importantly, performances. Nobody in their right mind would be rushing to give him a new contract now. Him staying on until next season, ok if that’s how the club view things, but before I’d wave a new contract in front of him I’d want to see some progress on the pitch, that we are at least going in the right direction & also I’d want a commitment from him that his job focus should be in Liverpool & not back in Holland, which I know where his family is, but I’m not sure the current set up is sustainable.
02 May 2026 14:41:38
4 games to go and we'll know either way.
02 May 2026 14:50:08
Mmm delicious confirmation bias, thank you, Robbo! I'll cling on to anything to lighten my mood. 😅
02 May 2026 15:03:23
Planted leaks reveal the leaks. Total confusion is the aim.
02 May 2026 15:40:21
Aye, FSW, and that is why we have the whole Slot is staying narrative imo.
02 May 2026 15:56:26
Hallelujah!!! Please let this be true - I love you Robbo!! You give me (us) hope. :)
02 May 2026 15:57:17
FPF said what I wanted to say. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
RobboLFC currently on course for ITK of the season. 🤟🤟
02 May 2026 16:00:52
Hope so Fields. Thanks Robbo too.
02 May 2026 16:10:11
Thefields, exactly. Now Mo's piping up about what's gone on behind the scenes. Absolute chaos is what's going on.
That's what happens without strong leadership (Jurgen and Ian).
02 May 2026 16:30:25
His agent Rafaela Pimenta was in Amsterdam over the last 2 weeks, so that adds up.
There is no smoke without fire.
Ken.
02 May 2026 16:37:20
Love it when a couple of quality rumours line p like that, KingKen, nice one mate.
02 May 2026 17:08:36
Thank God for Robbo and The Fields. My weekend has just improved enormously! I'm sticking with this outcome myself as the opposite seems senseless. Apologies VG!
02 May 2026 19:06:00
"Rafaela Pimenta" sounds like a chocolate cocktail.
02 May 2026 19:37:14
Cheers, Robbo.
02 May 2026 19:44:14
What did Mo say FSW?
02 May 2026 20:51:32
JLC - "I think personally - I'm not going into details, I'm not trying to play around - but last season I wasn't ready to go because you break the records, you win the Premier League, it's not right.
"But now with everything going on in the season - I won't go into details - it's like, 'You know what, it's time.
I want to go'.
"And of course there is a lot of things behind the scenes people don't know about it, but yeah, I think now is the time. I have peace with it'."
02 May 2026 23:17:08
Slot has two jog offers near home.
I fancy this lady who works in the local chippy, telling me about this well dressed man who goes there every Friday night.
Told her that Slot will definitely go back home.
I asked about the new manager/ coach and she said that all she knew that he is still with a Premiership side.
Also said that he has the same order he phones in, steak pie and chips.
03 May 2026 00:21:21
@Kingken, tbf, I think Slot himself has been in Amsterdam over the last two weeks. No need for him to act through his agent when he can be there in person ;).
03 May 2026 08:29:19
Wow FSW...
Thanks for sharing.
The most telling line for me... "I want to go."
Seems like Salah has just had enough.
After all he has achieved with us, to be in that mindset, just speaks volumes about the behind the scenes shenanigans.
03 May 2026 08:31:03
So just to summarise, Slot is definitely going and he is definitely staying.
03 May 2026 11:35:24
'If (he) stays it will be trouble, if he goes it could be double.'
02 May 2026 10:43:31
Ok folks,
Over 10 years I have become Twitter friends with someone who works on LFC TV and TNT. Genuinely sound bloke!
I asked him: was Slot safe with CL qualification?
His insight surprised me because he is usually positive yet careful with anything he tells me!
He said LFC and Slot on same page for now but apparently there is frustration over lack of new contract and Arne could walk!
I am also told that if we hear Heitinga is returning that means Arne is safe! A final season evaluation will happen!
I am not an ITK — hate that term! I simply pass on any insight or information I get because for the most part I enjoy reading the back and forth here!
I do feel the toxicity towards Arne is unnecessary and repetitive but hey ho everyone entitled to an opinion!
Ynwa.
02 May 2026 11:45:47
Lack of new contract???!!!!!
I'm frustrated that we are unfit, play rubbish, and he goes off whenever he can... and, indeed, that he still has a contract and it's not been terminated!!!!
He hasn't shown he can commit, so why should the club...
makes me angry.
Got given the contract because we were sold... I play not too dissimilar to Klopp's style...
Yeh right... should sue him for false advertising or something...
02 May 2026 12:00:39
Thank you for the rumour...
But, as you said, if we hear Heitinga is returning (which we did by rumours), that means Arne is safe, and a final season evaluation will happen. If he is safe, why should an evaluation happen?
This link to one of the point people is missing.
Fabrizio Romano keeps saying there will be an end of season evaluation. In my opinion, if Slot is that safe, there should not be any.
02 May 2026 12:24:43
It is a real rumour.
02 May 2026 13:16:06
I suspect that had we won the quadruple there would still have been an end of season evaluation. Surely it's standard practice.
I have an annual review every year at work. LFC are a business, so why would it be any different? Whether the previous year was good or bad, it should be assessed.
02 May 2026 15:14:56
Jan Paul van Hecke links help paint a picture. If that picture is genuine or not is another thing.
02 May 2026 15:20:38
Slot will be here next season. I've posted this several times on here, based on what I have heard. Although I am not in any way trying to pi*s anyone off, no one has been able to convince me otherwise yet.
I have explained previously my 'connection' with the club and how I get to hear snippets.
Anyway, we will defo have a Head Coach next season.
01 May 2026 21:28:40
Al Hilal are pushing hard to sign Richard Hughes this summer.
Liverpool want him to fulfil the final year of his contract to allow time for a proper replacement. The decision ultimately lies with Hughes, but it is expected that if he does not leave this summer, he will join Al Hilal next year.
Julian Ward is seen as a strong internal candidate to replace him should he go this summer. Michael Edwards has taken a more prominent role in recent contract negotiations (including for Konate and Szoboszlai), while Hughes has stepped back slightly.
No agreement has been reached yet, but talks between all parties are ongoing. If Hughes doesn’t leave this summer, there is a likely world where he pre-agrees to leave in and around January.
The feeling is that if Hughes is to leave next summer, Michael Edwards will go with him at the end of their contracts.
01 May 2026 22:48:04
Good riddance.
01 May 2026 23:09:35
Hopefully he takes Edwards and Slot with him.
02 May 2026 08:56:57
What's up with all the "want him to see out his contract" stuff?
It has the same feelings as the popular "if results take a nice dive" narrative with Slot this season
What's up with the waiting game?
If he is interested in the job, pull the trigger and let him go.
Why keep him when his head is most likely somewhere else?
It's like wanting to keep a player who doesn't want to be here.
02 May 2026 11:41:11
Absolutely Jlc. If there isn't 100% commitment from employees at management level, then better to move them on. It makes a big difference. And what's the point of contracts then, if employees start looking at offers the moment things become "hot"?
01 May 2026 14:22:49
Adam Wharton done for the summer. I'd say 65m.
01 May 2026 14:32:11
I really hope not, he is not the kind of midfield profile that we need imo. 🙏
01 May 2026 14:56:11
Imo he is exactly what we need. Even if he's not quick enough around the park, he moves the ball quickly. We need legs around him, though.
01 May 2026 15:20:08
That's a good player there. But I don't know who he replaces.
Means Macca is leaving, and there is nothing close to 2024-2025 season Macca. He touched peaks and became my fav player. He is so far away from being that player, but I don't want to lose him.
01 May 2026 15:23:55
I really hope not as well.
Again, not very mobile, no physicality, and not the best at reading the game defensively.
To be at his best he needs a proper DM alongside him, as do all our current midfielders.
01 May 2026 15:33:18
As much as I like and rate him, I just cannot help feeling he's the last thing we need. Our midfield is porous enough as it is. We need a Mascherano type who is going to eat up the ground, bite at people's legs, and anticipate and fill the gaps as and when they arrive.
Wharton has plenty about him, but I cannot help feeling we will be a soft touch if he plays in a two with Gravenberch behind Wirtz.
01 May 2026 15:39:17
Play him with Dom then.
01 May 2026 15:40:48
Spot on, Goaldigger.
01 May 2026 15:42:12
Everyone of our midfielders gets improved playing alongside a physical, mobile DM.
01 May 2026 15:47:58
We do need a passer in midfield to replace Macca and Trent. I would hope that he's not the only midfielder we bring in, though.
01 May 2026 15:48:21
@Florian, Dom hardly inspires me in that department too, to be honest! For all his hard running and bluster, his defensive game is actually really frustrating, and I do not think he is the Mascherano type we need.
I've got a feeling Dom might well be moved out to the right to replace Salah next season, with the likes of Dumfries brought in to overlap him, while we deploy one of Barcola / Diomande or another on the left as the out and out pacey winger.
01 May 2026 15:51:17
Looks like Macca is off then.
We have never replaced Fabinho. That I cannot get my head around.
If Wharton is £65m, then Anderson is going to be £90m+.
Let's hope we can finally get a deal done with Crystal Palace. If we start now, it should be done by August.
01 May 2026 15:51:22
Looking at other options, Elliot Anderson would be a perfect fit, but I cannot for one minute see us paying the desired fee for him, and feel he's already well earmarked for City, sadly.
I like the look of Fernandez at West Ham, but not seen enough of him to have a reliable opinion.
Time for those stat bods to sift out someone suitable from all the data.
01 May 2026 15:57:14
What about Baleba, Goaldigger10?
01 May 2026 16:10:18
Fernandes is just another 8 who's mobile and good on the ball, though we already have Dom and Curtis in the team. I still think that if we don't want to sign a '6' necessarily but want some physicality and bite in the midfield without sacrificing footballing ability, Joao Gomes looks the most obvious candidate.
01 May 2026 16:19:47
@Kingkenny7 - Yeah, could be another possible option but reckon he's Utd bound. Has also gone right off the boil this past 12 months and obviously got his head turned last summer. I'd be weary he's only one that only turns up for the cameras.
@PatrikBurgher - Yeah, there are a couple of options at Wolves with Gomez and Andre both been watched in the past by all accounts.
There is also that Stiller lad at Stuttgart, again I wouldn't have seen enough of him myself to have an opinion.
There are plenty of players out there and I'm sure the club have a list. I've heard rave reviews about Ibrahim Sangare at Forest this season. These players are out there, we just need a plan and need to be targeting the right profiles.
01 May 2026 16:25:07
Stiller is a similar player to Wharton, but I'd imagine he would be cheaper and probably a bigger risk given he hasn't played in the Prem before. In my eyes, he is a similar level of quality in terms of his ability to pass the ball, and he seems to not have the same injury concerns as Wharton, but he has all the same weaknesses, lack of athleticism and mobility, and he needs a midfield partner with him to do the grunt work, so he can concentrate on orchestrating play and playing balls through the lines.
01 May 2026 16:27:19
When Macca lost all of his and his partner's friends in one summer, life in L4 became much less appealing.
Wharton is another Edwards purchase.
Does Alonso play with a proper DM? I can see Stiller coming in, should Alonso join.
01 May 2026 16:47:35
From day 1 we've been told that Slot doesn't play with a 6 and since he's arrived we haven't bought one. So, I'd imagine if he stays, we won't be buying one for next season either.
So, for all the bluster that Slot doesn't choose the new signings, it's weird that Hughes, who has form for buying 6's, and Edwards, who saw how great Fab was, haven't decided to buy a 6.
Or, maybe Slot has more say in signings than some would like to believe?
01 May 2026 16:56:19
Anderson and Diomande are two players we should be going all out to sign. They will improve us no end. If we actually stumped up the cash and bought Semenyo in January, we would have had a lot more points on the table than we do now. That's for sure.
01 May 2026 16:58:16
@PatrikBurgher, If Slot stays then I think Curtis goes. We need a DM anyway to add to what we've got, imo, so if Macca and Jones leave, we need three midfielders this summer.
01 May 2026 17:02:19
@Mcgoveb, I don't think it has anything to do with Slot having much of a say in transfers. Obviously, Slot gives his input and tells Hughes what he would like, but at the end of the day, it is Hughes' decision. Hughes knows, however, that if he signed a DM, then Slot probably wouldn't play him, so why bother wasting the money.

If we do end up going for Wharton, I hope we also buy that ball winner profile player to play alongside him.

Another Tortoise 🐢. How slow are we?

Another dud, the club would have to move on when Slot gets sacked.

If I remember rightly, Alonso is a massive fan of Wharton. If I had a choice between Wharton and Gravenberch, I would choose Wharton every single time. So, Wharton and Dom might be a decent pairing, definitely an upgrade on Gravenberch, who struggles to complete a 5 yard pass, pulls out of more challenges in a 1 game than most players do in a season.

Slot played Mats Weifer as a holding midfielder at Feyenoord for 2 seasons and was a key player for him. Not sure where this 'Slot never played a defensive midfielder' comes from.

Szoboszlai and Wharton will be just as soft and weak as what we have now. Not a bit of defensive nous between them. Same old crap incoming next season.

I expect so, Vik, as soon as Gravenberch got his extension, I said forget about a DM, it won't be happening, not unless Endo goes and we bring in backup.

Not for me. If we're going to persist with Wirtz in the 10, then we need a different profile of player in there with him and Gravenberch.
We've been too easy to play through this season.

Interesting if Gordon could adapt to a deeper midfield role. I'm sure he was deeper at Everton. The lad has grit and proved in the derbies he can take the game by the scruff of the neck. I still reckon it's nailed on regardless and has been for a while.

Only one player we need from Newcastle: Bruno.

Kees Smitt is the one I'd like to see us go after. All rounder.

Think Wharton would be a fantastic fit for us. Superb passer of the ball and would allow players like Wirtz to push further up the pitch. I reckon we will sign another more combative type midfielder with him anyway.
Ken.

Hopefully, we try for Anderson and not just let City have a free run at him. I'd take him and Wharton in all honesty. Both would improve us no end.
Good chance Endo, Elliot, Jones and maybe McAllister all leave.
