Friend of mine who's dad scouts for a few teams was at an event the other day where Jones attended. He said Slot has lost changing rooms and it's Jones and Mac that are having the bust up in the changing rooms.

I'd agree, Shanks. Quite ironic if two of our worst performing midfielders are arguing with each other or the coach. Grav, as the other poor performer, doesn't seem the arguing type. He probably just smiles.

Jones is annoyed at Mac because he didn't invite him to a BBQ that was hosted before the season started, that's where it all began. Mac invited the first team players but left many of the fringe players off the invitation.

Hi Diddly Ho,
That performance showed we can play good football; few mishaps but we did keep a clean sheet and no succumb to pressure.
Still as always, Alonso to take the reins in the summer, but these last few weeks might not be as eye-gauging as we’d feared.
Hope Rio starts vs PSG. He’s looked brilliant whenever he’s played.
Szoboszlai deal to be announced in the next few weeks. Presume the discontent with his reaction to fans last week has delayed things; but it’s all agreed, though I’m not sure if it’s signed.
My source doesn’t really get much transfer stuff now, but they’ve heard a rumour that Alisson may be open to returning to Italy - but nothing will be decided until after the World Cup and pre-season gets underway. Think reading between those lines that he wants to see how the new coaching setup works and implements him.
Based on my source's role, they tell me a few things about other clubs so happy to share here if anyone’s interested; even though they’re LFC oriented.
Diddly Out.

According to Ornstein, Slot will continue next season. This year has been a transition year. FSG have said he will be the manager next season, nothing has changed. So what do we believe, and if not, where are people getting their information from regarding where Slot will go?

Grav7, in situations like these the likes of Ornstein operate as a mouthpiece for the club, it's simply an attempt to steady the boat, kill the noise and attempt to somewhat unify the fan base.
You don't really expect ITK's to reveal their sources do you? Are you new to the site?

Sorry, I don't buy the transition season excuse that the press are spreading. A transition season is getting used to a new style, new players, inconsistent results. Not that the players look like they should be carrying tanks of oxygen around with them.

Mainstream outlets genuinely get fed information from the club; the club tries their best to portray an image that doesn't suggest behind the scenes is a concern.
The great thing about the club over the last few years is that they struck down a lot of leaks; the past 12-18 months, however, have seen leaks multiplying.

I don't buy the "transition season" specially when journos were being briefed about the biggest transfer budget before the season started and how they wanted to build on a title win. Season has been horrendous. As for the game today, Fulham had more shots than us, ran more, and made more tackles.
We looked weak through the middle when they ran through midfield, and we got lucky because they couldn't convert their chances. Another day that ends in a draw. PSG won't be so generous on Tuesday.

12 Apr 2026 03:22:43
I buy the transition but not the transition season from the team that won the league last season. You could sensibly expect Ali, Robbo, VVD and Mo to leave over the course of the following two seasons. We also had TAA and Diaz choosing to leave. By the start of the 27/28 season, we won't look anything like the team that won the 24/25 league.
I also think that, from a solely business perspective, the thing FSG would have wanted this season was to maintain (at the very least) their revenue streams, and a key factor in that is securing qualification for CL for the 26/27 season, with anecdotal evidence that United 'lost' £100m by not qualifying for the CL this season.
If my conjecture is anywhere near true then Slot could feasibly meet the business criteria for the club.
Given that may happen, then it's not beyond the realms of possibility that FSG might think he has fulfilled what he needed to do.
Of course, from a fans' perspective, we have been woeful, and the occasional good games have just added to the frustration and overall great disappointment. In my opinion the players, generally speaking, have been poor, but most of the blame for that is the clueless way in which they seem to have been 'prepared' in terms of fitness, teamwork and working to a recognised method of playing good football and winning matches. The failure lies at Slot's foot - carries the can. We might be ok from a business perspective but from a football perspective the transition is failing.

I refuse to believe that the season after being crowned Champions is a transition season.
After winning the league, a team should freshen things up, but that is not a transition exercise.
For various reasons, this season, from a PL perspective, has been a total and complete failure, and it's not because it's a transition season.

It's partly been a self-imposed transition as we've chosen different tactics and set up to previous seasons. If anything, that's what's caused the biggest problem.
The transition of three ageing players in Robbo, Ali and Mo has also caused a big problem, not because we've had to do it but more because their replacements haven't been up to their levels.
We've also had Mo in and out, which has caused its own issues.
The fact we've also been forced to transition out Diaz as he wanted out, and change upfront due to Jota passing, has meant more change in one season than was probably expected.

{Ed001's Note - no they weren't leaking them. It was Bodgers himself giving it away by putting the team in a different colour bib from the others. No one was leaking it, people were just watching training from the surrounding houses.}

I mean, Alisson this season is no Alisson.
Increasingly injury prone, can't kick the ball long without pulling a hammy.
Wouldn't be against letting him go if we brought in someone like Trafford to compete with Mamardashvilli. Will obviously be a big step down on Ali in his prime, but he isn't the same player anymore. Helps with home grown quote as well.
Agree5
Disagree0
11 Apr 2026 14:59:55
We all love Alisson, no debate - he's been world class and won everything with us. But we can't run a football club on sentiment.
His injury record for a goalkeeper is a real concern now. Availability matters more than ability at this stage, and right now he's not giving us that consistently. A top keeper missing chunks of the season every year - especially around Nov/Dec - hurts rhythm, leadership, and stability at the back.
Also, let's be honest - his distribution isn't what it used to be. In a system that relies on build-up, that matters.
We're entering a massive transition period.
With Salah, VVD, Robbo and Alisson all in that senior bracket, we can't afford to hold on too long and then rebuild everything at once. That's how clubs fall off - just look at how long it took after Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger stayed too long.
If the club is thinking long-term, tough decisions have to be made early - not late.
And the Brazil World Cup angle doesn't sit right either - feels like we're managing him for international football while carrying the risk domestically.
Legend, no doubt. But if we're being ruthless about staying at the top, we have to start planning beyond him now.
Agree11
Disagree0
11 Apr 2026 15:14:30
He is obviously past his very best, but a one armed Alisson is better than Marmalade every day of the week. Whenever Ali is moving, then we need to find a proper replacement for him, either from within, or spend big on the best we can buy. He's been crucial to our team.

Allisson wants to return to Brazil to live, but may go via Italy.
He is no longer the best keeper in the world, he is way too injury prone to achieve that status, and he has had some poor performances too this season.
I would look at the Russian boy at Madrid to replace him or ask Kelleher to return.

12 Apr 2026 04:27:33
Keepers usually can keep it together till 38-39 so Ali has another 5 years with us. The problem is we are so reliant on him, and he misses 20 games a season. This was a trash season, but had we been competing for top positions, Ali not being there would have blown our chances.
We need to check what's wrong with Mama.
I kid you not, he was an outstanding GK in La Liga. Not great with his feet, but excellent shot stopping and positioning. I don't know how he has gone that bad. But it's maybe because he is trying too much, as Ali is no1, and he is under pressure to perform when he gets the chance.
Agree2
Disagree0
12 Apr 2026 10:05:08
As well as being one of the best keepers defending one to ones, Ali had the best distribution of any keeper.
Now that he can't kick due to injury, and we don't play as high a line so we don't expose ourselves to players running through on goal, two of his major qualities aren't there.
He's still a very good keeper in other ways, but if he only plays around twenty games, it's a problem for us when he's on a full time wage as a superstar player.
It's a dilemma, and he's very difficult to replace. It would be great if he'd stay on a performance related package, but he may want to go and live in Italy or Brazil and you could understand that.

I'm not so sure. It's clear this time was always going to come, no Klopp, and the world class spine of the team is too old. Maybe the league last year was a bit lucky. This is definitely a transition period where money hasn't been spent well.
To be fair, at the time, I was made up with the signings.
Don't get me wrong, Slot is well out of his depth and needs the boot. But it's not all his fault, there are many contributing factors.

I don't think Salah gets enough credit for last season. We regularly read on here that Suarez almost single handedly won the PL for Roger's, with Roger's getting no credit. Well, the same could be said for last season with Mo's amazing form in goals and assists.

11 Apr 2026 10:15:48
We were without doubt lucky, 2nd lowest points tally to win the league in the last 20 years and we were 8 points off the average for the previous decade. City were absolutely shocking last season and Arsenal were terrible too. City had 6 more losses than their previous season and Arsenal had 9 more draws. Both teams massively underperformed. If that's not luck, then I don't know what is.
It's absolutely Slot's fault. His tactical ability is clearly lacking, majorly, that's not even up for discussion.
Personally I'm of the opinion that the players we brought in were not ideal for the system that's been so effective for us, but good managers can adapt tactical approach to suit players strengths. Every single player we brought in was a massive improvement on the player they replaced, absolutely no doubt about it. If Klopp had this team we'd be top of the table.
No. 8, one problem there, mate, there's a lot more than 31 games in a season, so it's a completely irrelevant statement. There's still 21 points to play for.

I understand that Chewy and I'm not trying to antagonise anyone. Arsenal have been hailed as this efficient machine this season, not lucky. My point is, right now, we would still be top.
Luck only goes so far. Over 38 games, the best team wins. Salah and Van Dijk were imperious last season, and Slot was tactically astute. I wouldn't cheapen our Premier League title by saying we were lucky.
Agree10
Disagree0
11 Apr 2026 11:31:22
The whole Premier League is under an illusion that it is still the best league in world football, sorry, but that is far from the truth. The Premier have allowed teams to, as Slot says, put a low block which is killing the game, also teams looking to win from dead ball kicks and long throwin's, which includes grabbing and pulling players in the penalty area. Even LFC have started copying this, which I am disappointed in. Man City, Chelsea, Spurs and LFC have been beaten well by teams from leagues that are supposed to be inferior to the Premier League, if the FA do not get to grips with this the Premier League will decline even more. It may be the biggest payers but that does not mean it is the biggest and best league in the world.
I think fans are fed up not getting the value for their money and now clubs want to increase ticket prices, who wants to pay to watch teams turn up and just sit the eleven players behind the ball? Do the managers and coaches think that this is entertaining? I for one don't, I get bored to death watching this. I think I speak for all fans of all Premier teams, we want to see football matches played for entertainment as well as results, and I would like to high light the team that does this, it is PSG from the French League, and why is this because of the manager/ coach plays the game how it should be played.

I think you're interpreting the stats in a one-sided way there, Chewy. They won't it with 84 points and 4 games to go, I think there's a fair chance they would have got another 8 points if required, granted the form wasn't what it was at the start of the season.

11 Apr 2026 19:29:13
No. 8, your point is still irrelevant. You say luck only gets you so far... you're confused, we're not talking about that kind of luck, it's not pure chance or some random factor of chaos repeating itself on a weekly basis. Nobody's arguing that we won games through sheer fluke, we were lucky in the sense that both City and Arsenal massively underperformed last season. And whilst you can argue that teams underperforming over the course of a season is not due to luck, it is still a statistical variance that weighed heavily in our favour.
That's not an opinion, it's a fact, and statistically, that's exactly what luck is.
Slot was not tactically astute, he took charge of a well-oiled machine and knew that the best way to move forward was to simply not rock the boat, as he tried implementing his own tactics later in the season, things clearly began to fall apart. Slot was only successful when he stuck to Klopp's tactics, evidently.

Lfchopefull2, Chelsea, Arsenal, Brighton & Palace, I would have very little confidence in our ability to get 8 points from those fixtures, outside of the Tottenham game, we were playing very poorly during the tail end of that season.
With 4 games left, we had 82 points, not 84.

Getting the most points over 10 months and 38 games is not luck. The most consistent team wins the league.
A low points tally means the league is more competitive. No teams are dominating, more draws, etc.
The Premier League is the wealthiest league in European football.
It is definitely not the most technical, it's the quickest. More mistakes are made, because it's very tough to be as technical when playing at such a speed. There are also more fouls tolerated.

Very strong argument for a couple of mid-career CBs, not against Schlotterbeck at all, and, rightly or wrongly, suspect Van de Ven moves this summer too.
But it's all for naught if we don't have a manager that understands defensive structure, and we don't, after many years of asking, have a Fabinho-style player at CDM.

Probably doing it on the sly because every time they try and sell us the fans end up giving them grief. We were always an investment for them. They've changed the club for the better. If they want out, the fans should let them out instead of wanting new stadium, debt paid off, unlimited financing from their good will.

10 Apr 2026 15:56:31
Why would FSG sell us on the sly? FSG have been the life blood of the club, without their intervention this club would be in the same state as Sheff Wed. All supporters of LFC should be behind any decision FSG make about the club, they deserve that, yes, they have made mistakes but they quickly admitted they were wrong and cancelled without any fuss.
Without FSG, we would not have won all we have and never have had Jurgen come to the club. If it is true, I just hope they sell to any new owners that can and will follow in FSG's footsteps and carry on where FSG would leave off. YNWA

Predicted around 4/5 years, and I'll stick by that. I think they try and build this last team over the next few years, and we'll start hearing the news of them cashing in as both Henry and Werner are approaching 80.

I raised this question a few weeks ago on here, and most people thought it wouldn't be happening anytime soon.
I still feel like there's so much happening so quickly at the club that it really feels like it could happen in the next year or two.

It's inevitable they will have an exit strategy.
Good luck to them and thanks for the memories.
Can't imagine how we would have fared with Hicks and Gillett instead. 🫣

What smokescreen are you talking about exactly?
Liverpool has increased in value by a factor of nearly 15x since FSG came on board, and whilst that in itself is enough reason to sell, it's also their biggest earner. Investment groups sell off their most productive assets when realizing the profit from a sale is seen as a more valuable move than retaining ownership, or when the sale of an asset is deemed necessary for funding new projects; FSG had been interested in acquiring an NBA team, but recent reports suggest they've backed out due to astronomical costs.
If they were even considering the possibility of a sale last summer, they wouldn't have allowed the expenditure we saw in the transfer window or be looking at a multi-club model. I would be fairly surprised if they wanted to dump their biggest earner just months after winning the league, bringing in some huge signings and planning a major expansion with a second club, but things do change, hard and fast, in football.

They are good guardians of the club. We could have had a lot worse and not many better. If any.

I like FSG, yes they have made mistakes, but who hasn't, managed us sensibly, and they saved us from Hicks and Gillette (who definitely weren't the best a Liverpool supporter can get). :)

Henry can't be pushing 80. His wife doesn't look a day over 50.

FSG would only sell us for a vast amount. We are still their biggest asset. I know they want a basketball team n they're going for the same price as us. So I think, if one is available, they would sell Liverpool, that's only my opinion BTW.

Stromsgodset, I respect your opinion, buddy, but whatever happens, we have had the best owners any club could want.

Help me out fella please
Paper talk of us adding minteh from Brighton to pur list of winger targets.
This is tripe hopefully yes? No way are we thinking of paying the 60 or 70m Brighton would want for him.
Can I put this out of my mind? .

Come on lads, who wouldn't want an extra sharp Minteh on the wing....I've heard he plays tic-tac style footy...light on his feet too cause he's got a hole in his middle.

Maybe this is the difference of Champions League or Not Champions League (Minteh being the later).

I really like him. 21 years old, very aggressive, very hard working, direct, rapid, 8 goals and 8 assists in about 3600 minutes of football since the start of last season etc.
If you think back to what Salah was doing at 21 years old at Chelsea, Minteh is operating at a pretty similar level in a much weaker Brighton side (that's not me saying he'll be as good as Salah, by the way, as Mo was a slow burner). I personally think Minteh would be a great signing for us. He can also play LW and RW with pretty much equal quality, though I personally prefer him on the left because I think he's a better crosser of the ball than he is at cutting inside and shooting.
He's the kind of player you need if you want to play with proper strikers like Isak and Ekitike. We don't necessarily need wingers who will score goals, now we have out and out strikers. We need wingers who can gain territory, run at full backs and ultimately put the ball in the box nice and early.

Good work rate, decent player, but not good enough for us. Doesn't come close to showing even an inclination of a ceiling that puts him anywhere near being an adequate replacement for Mo.

Agree with MK. Think he has loads of potential. Wouldn't go anywhere near the 60m+ Brighton apparently want though. 45-50m, just about fair maybe.

He is a very good one on one player, which is a seriously important quality to have in a wide attacking player now. However, his end product is distinctly lacking, so I'm wary. Was a star for Slot, though, if he's going to be here next season (I'm just trolling).
