This will be my last post guys and gals. I know it has seemed controversial at times, but only ever shared what I have been told.

I never try to push for info, but have been told categorically no more information will be getting out from here on in.

Leaks plugged, and everyone within the club is under strict instructions that by no means are they to discuss Management, players' contracts or transfers with anyone.

A season of unrest, has forced strong decisions, with the club's aim to not only appease the fanbase, but to continue with winning trophies.

What I have been told (and shared before) still stands, some will like it some will not.

But my source has stated, be very careful who you listen too and believe, as the club feel it has been isolated.

Final word I was given, in Slot they trust. Which has been the same message I have been given all season.

Thanks for having me and hope for a great result tonight.

Appeasing the fanbase and winning trophies doesn't align with the trusting Slot.

Thanks for the update, JonnyNo6.

For what it's worth, please don't stop posting just because you don't have any info from your source.

This is a community, and please feel free to contribute, especially if it's just your own opinions.

We all value any info, whether we like it or not, but this site is amazing because of the contributors, not the contributions themselves.

Hope to hear from you soon, mate.

If they want to continue winning trophies & appease the fans, then sticking with Slot is not an option. Here's hoping it's your source that's wrong.

14

15 May 2026 16:48:53
Interesting that leaks are plugged after you receive information. 🤔

15 May 2026 17:31:15
Thank God an ITK that's not ITK admitting basically they ain't ITK and will just create a new username to post more crap. Yes!

14

15 May 2026 17:43:41
Nice line spacing.

Classic.

Ahoy.

6

15 May 2026 17:48:59
No need for that, retire the slot. It's just a bit of craic.

2

15 May 2026 17:53:24
First post I've seen from you to be honest lol.

9

15 May 2026 17:56:17
You'll have to forgive me, but I don't ever remember seeing your posts, JonnyNo6. Thanks anyway.

10

15 May 2026 17:58:04
The name of this site is rumours, but it seems there are many who haven't understood this and keep coming out with digs at people who post. Barring a few, I've not seen any of u stick your neck out and put up info which has been true. Stop moaning all the time. We will know soon enough what the club will decide.

2

15 May 2026 18:08:41
Another itk. 🙄🤣

5

15 May 2026 18:43:49
Influencer-wannabes pretending to be ITK so they can be the rumours equivalent of Salt Bar or the Kardashians.

Might as well put Slot and rumours in Chat GPT and become the new Fabrizio Romano.

15 May 2026 19:07:55
If Slot is here next season, then I am not.

5

15 May 2026 19:22:46
Jonnyno6, sounds like a good night out in a cat house, I reckon I'd get to 2 that would be me splurged.

YNWAKopite, the same people that have a dig at the so called ITK's are also the ones who absolutely worship the ground the so called "real ITK's" walk on and completely kiss their a*se. It's quite entertaining, but a bit embarrassing if you ask me.

This team is a reflection of the coach. It's not just the injuries, because we've regularly played like this, even when we've not had injuries.

No patterns of play, no cohesion, little structure, just relying and hoping on individual quality moments to make a difference.

Afternoon to one of the greatest sites ever published. Interesting update today.

Top brass at FSG are pushing hard for Luis Enrique. City are out of the race and all agree internally on Maresca. Chelsea want Alonso but they know it depends on what we do. Newcastle want Xabi, still laugh at this. Still waiting for Dua Lipa to reply back to my email too.

The feeling for FSG is that Enrique would be for Summer 27 and therefore Slot being here for the rest of 26 is seen as a realistic option. We may even see an interim in the new year or next spring if we have another repeat of this season. There will be many of us who feel this is another season wasted 🫤 but bigger picture - FSG feel that a league title, CL qualification, and two summers of in and outgoings during what they see as a 3-year post Klopp rebuild is not a complete catastrophe - even though we all think the football is grim. There's a feel that some exciting wingers and couple of midfielders could make this better too. I'm past knowing anymore tbh! Feel like 1970 Brazil on Red Bull would look drab under our coaching at the minute.

The club are talking to Alonso and Iraola in the event that we cock up CL qualification OR they feel Enrique is not doable in which case they aren't afraid to pull the plug on Slot this summer. This is way everything is so topsy turvy right now.

They do not know and they have not yet decided!

Another option they have up their sleeve is, if they hang on for Enrique, miss out on Xabi/Iraola but then they realise they've made a shocker early into the season they feel they have Nagelsmann in their back pocket if LE changes his mind or they feel they can't waste another campaign.

It's a right mess really! Just passing on what I have been told on HIGH authority. As always, I will give the windows a good shine on Monday and try and get some goss over a brew from my player. Incidentally, one of the Everton lad's wants a new cleaner. Undecided whether to or not. Don't like him.

Anyway. What's on everyone's bingo card tonight? I've got Gakpo cutting in and hitting it into Row Z, Slot talking about XG, Szobo saying it wasn't good enough, and Konate doing his Keystone Kops impressions again. Ever the optimist, I've also got my 90th minute scruffy goal top trump card ready too though 😉

Keep going lads.
CSW

Can't see Enrique managing us in the Championship in 2027 because that's where we'll be if Slot stays.

14

15 May 2026 14:47:39
To be honest, it all seems plausible. Although I would have hoped we could have convinced Enrique to come after he wins the Champions League again with PSG.

My prediction for tonight is a draw, with some VAR shockers, and some excuses from Slot on how it was too windy to play, and that Villa just set up for low blocks.

5

15 May 2026 14:49:59
Sounds promising, and if they need to get an interim in place mid season, & Nagelsman isn't available, then Roy is back in the market! Win win.

15 May 2026 15:04:27
How do we convince players of joining us, by telling them that they have to wait a year for the real manager to come in?

I can't see any player accepting that.

11

15 May 2026 15:14:36
If this were true, then there must be someone out there that would take a 1 year contract, so we can get rid of Slot. Is there anyone left, other than KingSlot 'attention seeker', who wants him to stay after the awful football we've played this season?

8

15 May 2026 16:11:27
Thanks CSW, problem I see, if this is our approach, is with Enrique extending his contract to 2029/30 on about 20m euros a season. We would be banking on PSG sacking him after next season, otherwise we would be paying a huge compensation package to PSG for his services. I appreciate your passing on what you hear, and we are grateful for it, but that seems like a terrible business plan for us. What would make (for me) a whole lot more sense would be get Alonso in now, re
Establish the key standards of professionalism, intensity in training and games, get the coach team and fans back on the same page, etc etc etc, he will have 3 seasons to implement his team, if it hasn't worked out then Enrique would be coming out of this contract (he historically has generally seen out his contracts) and can take over, if Alonso's Liverpool is a total success then we won't care about Enrique.

But keeping Slot for a season based on the highly unlikely scenario that PSG sack Enrique at the end of next season, apart from completely crippling any transfer plans and making us fall considerably behind our competitors, seems a ridiculous business model.

7

15 May 2026 16:48:57
From ESPN.

Luis Enrique was delighted to have been given a two-year extension with Paris Saint-Germain as he wants to make history with the French champions.

The Spaniard, who arrived at PSG in 2023, expressed his gratitude for the trust the club has placed in him and said he is motivated to leave a legacy in Paris.

"From day one, the club has put everything at our disposal and the support only makes me want to continue working and improving, we want to make history here as a coaching staff," Luis Enrique told reporters following PSG's 4-1 win over Monaco on Friday.

"I don't know how long I'll be here, when you feel comfortable where you are and you feel the trust of those around you, why set limits for yourself.

5

15 May 2026 17:12:46
I'll suffer another season of Slopball if Enrique is guaranteed, but anything less than that and there will be hell to pay. If we keep Slot, miss out on Alonso, Iraola, Hoeness and eventually Enrique, there will be major repercussions; I don't expect FSG's ownership would survive such a fumble.

3

15 May 2026 17:31:14
Do you think they'd have to sell up, Chewy? Isn't Enrique just holding off declaring his new 4 year contract until after the Champions League final?

1

15 May 2026 19:28:44
No way we're getting Enrique, he's based in Paris like a Tiger Tank, my idea Iraola, really think his fresh ideology would suit us, but my heart says Alonso, but we need to get a wiggle on, the Sausage factory are after blagging his head.

15 May 2026 19:37:14
I'm not buying it, there's way too many slightly differing versions of events now.
If there's one thing I hate currently about football, it's the constant transition some clubs seem to be in, including us. If a player is 32 and he adds to that season with regard to winning the league, then get him in. This club's about winning trophies, not constant uncertainty, and it's all starting to feel like another transitional 4 or 5 years instead of being in a position to win the league for a few years after last season's title win and the window we had.

If there's one thing I don't get too, it's the Isak thing. Even when he's fit, Slot seems to have zero idea how to utilise him right, which tells me if he's in charge next season it'll be more of the same and every chance he'll end up leaving in frustration. The owners need to realise how big this club is and start acting like big owners, and start with getting us a new elite manager.

1

15 May 2026 19:58:54
McGoveb, FSG favour a 3-4 season plan so they will give Slot his contract esp as we are on course for 4th after horror circumstances and bad luck.

0

15 May 2026 21:10:57
As elite as Enrique is, no one should be putting everything on hold, banking on something that might happen in a year's time.

Make him the absolute best offer you can make for now. If he doesn't take it, then move on to the next best, but you can't give Slot another season. It's untenable.

0

15 May 2026 13:35:51
Not claiming to be ITK, but - I've got a mate in Gijón, who knows Enrique's folks/family. Apparently he wants to win one more title with PSG (cos then he beats Blanc's record) and then he's nailed on for LFC. Wants to finish his career at Anfield. That's why we'll keep Slot for next season.

Also, no major stuff going to happen in the summer re: transfers for all of the above reasons - and Hughes exiting stage left.

2

15 May 2026 13:56:26
We need a lot in the market so I don't believe this at all.

15

15 May 2026 13:58:48
Ye'll get a whole year outa that one.

7

15 May 2026 14:14:56
He won't want to come in one year when we have no Champions League, and all the best players want out because they can't stand to play s**** football anymore.

12

15 May 2026 14:25:25
Whatever way you look at it, Enrique has won more than Blanc. Nonsense. However, Enrique might want to let his current contract expire as he did at Barca and Spain.

3

15 May 2026 14:27:39
I can't imagine any top manager would want to come and undo all the mess Slot leaves if he's given another year. Unfit, downtrodden want-away players, a fan base who have lost all belief and all the major cash spent. Another year of Slot will do serious damage in my opinion.

8

15 May 2026 14:34:26
I hear ya - but I didn't pump this dude for info - he just said it very matter-of-fact (knows I'm a red). Like it was just known. So yeah, just passing it on.

3

15 May 2026 14:38:02
Nothing to do with Slot. He's about to sign a four year contract because he wants to stay in Paris. LFC hasn't even entered his mind.

5

15 May 2026 14:42:15
I know some ITK's say Alonso is coming, but i'm 90% seeing him go to Chelsea, sometimes you just believe the media headlines.

4

15 May 2026 16:38:19
I'm away at the moment and have been chatting to people in the know from Ajax. They are desperately seeking Slot.

2

15 May 2026 16:53:23
If PSG win the Champions League, then I believe Enrique will have 12 titles to Blancs 11, so record broken before the start of next season... potentially.

2

15 May 2026 17:13:51
Would be the dream managerial signing, we can only hope.

2

15 May 2026 17:41:00
Pointless setting records in Paris, the legacy will last as long as the next manager.
They will continue to dominate Ligue 1 for many years to come, regardless of manager.

2

15 May 2026 19:34:54
If you got a friend in Gijon who knows his folks, then you should know his real full name is Luis Enrique, right. Enrique is not a surname, but his second name...

Funny that your mate calls him Enrique when no one in his country, let alone his family/folk, call him like that...

0

15 May 2026 09:59:43
"Sources say that Richard Hughes is set to join his former colleague Simon Francis at Al-Hilal at the end of the summer transfer window."

From Mark Douglas, who's apparently reliable for Bournemouth.

20

15 May 2026 11:17:39
If he is, why would FSG entrust him with a big summer budget just for him to leave?

6

15 May 2026 11:23:34
Fowler, because at this stage, when negotiations are already underway, who do you get to do it?

10

15 May 2026 11:41:56
Yeah it's too late to change and have any meaningful summer, but it does make you think why would he care if he's got a job already lined up.

What's more worrying is why is someone who is off deciding who is going to manage us into next season?

7

15 May 2026 11:57:38
Well, I suppose you have to respect the club and trust FSG to know what they are doing. At the end of the day, he will not want to ruin his reputation and screw up our recruitment. Oh, wait... he did that last year.

5

15 May 2026 12:40:25
I am pretty sure the football industry and the reason why unauthorised leaks are troublesome, and deliberate leaks as smoke
screens are used. It is because, be it manager, or sporting director/transfer team etc, the first, in an ideal world, they realise they are being sacked is the minute they are told. So identifying targets, speaking with agents, coaching and training go right up to the second the manager or sporting director are relieved of their duties, for seamless continuity. You don't want a sporting director knowing he's being replaced in 2 months and having long liquid lunches and doing sweet FA, equally deliberately not doing work on targets they may want to sign for their new club.

It's brutal, but like any interest where you need the quickest transitions between staff leaving and new employees coming, to avoid either them doing F*** all while they wait to leave, or worse, spend their past weeks poaching clients and contacts for their next job... So I guess in our case now, a certain amount of contradictory reporting and not really knowing what the hell is happening behind the scenes is standard. Obviously, there is, however, also a chance they actually haven't got a clue what they are doing behind the scenes. But definitely the manager and sporting director will, in an ideal world, be working as normal, blissfully unaware they are being sacked until the minute they are.

3

15 May 2026 14:29:49
Hopefully he takes Edwards with him.

4

15 May 2026 14:32:53
Hughes does not negotiate in isolation... Like he is told here is half a billion quid - off you go! Slot, Edwards, Hogan, and, on big ones, FSG are involved, as well as the scouts who do the background research, etc.

Didn't we hire in Jorg Schmadtke in May 2023 to finalise transfers. Under him, we got Mc Allister, Endo, Gravenberch and Szoboszlai.

6

15 May 2026 04:13:53
Hey all, I am not in the know, just passing on something I heard from a friend.

Apparently the stall, delay on pushing through the Xabi Alonso agreement is FSG feel they may have a chance should PSG win the Champions League to persuade Luis Enrique to come to Liverpool.

Again not claiming to be ITK, just passing on what I was told.

With all the different information going on, take with a pinch of salt, but would be immense if it did happen.

Cheers.

8

15 May 2026 06:47:25
He's signing another 4 year deal this summer.

19

15 May 2026 07:04:51
The only reason I can think of that we are considering keeping Slot on is that Enrique has given us an inkling he would be ready to join us within 12 months.

1

15 May 2026 07:15:23
I asked this (in my own deluded mind) the other day and Ed1 said it's highly unlikely (as much as he'd like him too)

To be honest, I'd say 99% of us would have him over the potential three that have been mentioned but it unfortunately doesn't sound like it'll happen.

Let's hope I'm wrong.

6

15 May 2026 07:44:28
I'm sorry, I just don't believe it.

Everyone is desperate to find a rhyme or reason for the Mgmt sticking with Slot for so long.

I think the reality is too painful for most fans, myself included, because of how unpopular Slot has become with the fanbase.

I am looking forward to the season being over, and hope that brings a swift change with a manager, but I am also preparing myself for the pain of us sticking with Slot.

15

15 May 2026 08:05:26
Enrique isn't leaving PSG.

14

15 May 2026 08:21:58
Utter Garbage.

8

15 May 2026 08:22:46
Didn't he sign a new deal weeks ago?

6

15 May 2026 09:38:25
10 months ago I didn't think we'd beat City to sign Wirtz.
Having signed him, I didn't think it would be possible to sign Isak as well, especially given Newcastle's stance.

You just never really know what's achievable.

9

15 May 2026 09:52:15
Ron, why would he leave a club where he gets an annual salary of 20m a year, where he has an unlimited budget, has some of the best footballers around at his disposal, has complete control over everything football related, has a competent director of football, as well as the likelihood of winning the Champions League year on year for what is essentially a bin fire run by clowns.

7

15 May 2026 10:14:18
Victor, I think u need to remember this is Liverpool Football Club which is held in v high esteem worldwide. Not in a great moment at the minute, but we will bounce back as always. 100% of managers and players will think v carefully if LFC approaches them to join, may not suit them for whatever reason, but they will be damn proud to be.

ast. Luis Enrique got tickets in Kop to watch a European game because he wanted to sample the iconic stadium in a night game, I wouldn't imagine he has done that too often elsewhere.
Highly unlikely he does come but don't sell yourself short.

11

15 May 2026 10:35:02
This is my hope.

If Alonso has a whiff of this, then he should be accelerating whatever convos he may be in with other clubs.

1

15 May 2026 11:00:58
Unfortunately, Digger, "vibes and feels" hardly ever wins over cold hard cash and reality.

And the reality is, we're nowhere near PSG, and it will likely take time to undo the mess which Slot has created.

Enrique wouldn't have the footballers required to play the football that he wants to play, so would also cost a lot bringing in the kinds of players he'd like.

Enrique is currently at arguably the best side in Europe by some margin and on a salary which only Guardiola matches.

I'm afraid that whether "we are Liverpool" or not, we are definitely a bin fire right now. The whole waiting for Enrique thing feels like the pointless pining over Bellingham. Another daydream that was never going to happen.

4

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - Simeone is paid more than Pep and Enrique.}

6

15 May 2026 11:20:09
LFC is a footballing giant, revered the world over. One bad season doesn't turn us into UTD. Poor decision making from here onwards could, which is why there is much tension, noise and confusing messaging coming from all connected to the club.

5

15 May 2026 11:30:49
How can Enrique not have the players, but Slot does have the players?

3

15 May 2026 12:08:32
Victor, maybe Enrique feels a bit underwhelmed shooting more fish in a barrel in France? What has he got left to achieve in Paris?
Compared to challenging himself in a new league with a new club?

At his age, he won't have that opportunity forever.

4

15 May 2026 13:48:46
Faith, on paper, Slot, without doubt, has the players to be competing for trophies if he played to their strengths. We won last year, and every player brought in was a massive improvement on who went out, bar Trent.

Vik's talking about Enrique's specific brand of football; it's a relentlessly high-intensity style that demands elite fitness, drive, a resilient mentality and exceptional tactical awareness.

These are all elements that Arne has completely drained from this squad.

1

15 May 2026 14:43:54
Hi, pretty sure he is off to Chelsea. Media reports, just like with Guehi and Semenyo, are right sometimes and we Liverpool fans can just dream.

0

14 May 2026 19:30:20
A private jet that arrived in Liverpool from Amsterdam today, then flies off to Boston tomorrow lunch… Let’s hope it’s something to do with Slot leaving!

24

14 May 2026 20:05:10
Probably, Slot's agents coming in to finalise the extension if it's coming from Amsterdam.

6

14 May 2026 20:07:02
He's not going anywhere I'm afraid.

7

14 May 2026 20:27:55
He is.

12

14 May 2026 20:30:05
It would read better like.

He's not going anywhere..... I'm afraid.

35

14 May 2026 21:20:56
Interesting timing, could be the end of season review. Early, though, still a chance we miss out on UCL footy if we s*** the bed.

I heard it is still not as set and forget as the journos lead fans to believe. It was the same with Rodgers at the time. The club are well aware of the fans not being happy, more so with the style of play along with the results.

Anfield is marketing and the heart of the club, but also the heart of the money-making for the big wigs, and once that starts to become impacted, they can't help but take notice.

Ken.

8

14 May 2026 21:23:56
Slot's agent is based in Monaco, whilst she was in the Netherlands on the 6th for an interview with ESPN. It would be strange for her to stay there for over a week afterwards.

5

14 May 2026 21:52:19
They should go by Babbelcopter.

12

14 May 2026 22:43:13
I thought we had computers that we could use to talk to each other instead of flying round the world just to say yes, you are still the coach, or sorry, we are moving you on. Can you imagine flying all the way to Boston for FSG to say you're fired, then back on a plane home.

7

15 May 2026 02:16:12
I can imagine it, @Longthing - it would be the decent thing to do, looking the fella in the eye and saying 'thanks for all your efforts'. It's also possible that it is the beginning of a review 25-26 / planning for 26-27.

It's also the case that the asset is worth somewhere between £ 3-4 bn, so I think they can stretch to a jet if they want to.

4

14 May 2026 09:30:33
Not ITK but reading between the lines on Arne's presser, it seemed if he gets Champions League he stays, if not, he goes.

Not an earth shattering review, but maybe that’s why they’re procrastinating on Xavi etc, to see how the last two games pan out?

4

14 May 2026 09:45:50
Xavi isn't even being considered!

24

14 May 2026 09:53:18
I think he'll probably stay, unless these next 2 games go really bad. 1 point probably seals top 5, as I can't see Bournemouth winning both games.

I hope not though, I hope we do go for XA. I know the journalists will say what the club tells them to say, but there's just so many so sure he's staying.

8

14 May 2026 10:24:56
Honestly not trying to sound all high and mighty but atm my only interest is us securing Champions League. The manager stuff will come after.

We should be fine but Bournemouth are on a run, and we've tricky games.
What do ye reckon? Will Villa rest a couple? They won't play a B team, but guys like Rodgers have a lot of minutes in the legs. I was hoping this game was a day closer (an early low atmosphere Saturday would have been nice) to the Europa League final, but with our luck it's on a Friday night (under the lights atmosphere), and they've time to recover.

I think Onana could be out though, who's a big player for them and capable of bullying the likes of Macca and Wirtz.

Bournemouth do have a city, but it's 3 days after the final against Chelsea and again under the lights. I can actually see Bournemouth doing them.

10

14 May 2026 10:56:39
Villa will go full strength. They are below us in the table.

1

14 May 2026 11:18:43
Florian, most likely Villa won't be full strength as they have the Europa League final on Wednesday night, and may use our game to either try a slightly different tactic or give their big players less minutes, rest them before their more important game, as winning that will get them UCL anyway.

If they're giving Slot another season it's just going to end up the same way as it did with Rodgers. Have a look at all of the non penalty goals we've conceded this year and it's almost all down his tactics and how he sets the team up.

Too much space for opponents to run into in midfield, far too passive out of possession (our movement out of possession is almost like watching a bunch of traffic cones wearing football shirts), a complete inability to track runners from midfield, a complete inability to deal with teams on counter attacks, poor defensive set ups on set pieces, general lack of fitness in the squad.

All of it matters within Slot's remit. No amount of signings are going to put that right, and if there is any truth that our only midfield signing is Wharton, then it's just more of the same as he's very poor defensively and painfully slow too.

If Slot somehow clings on and he's still here at the start of next season, that will be three or four written off until we can actually get a good manager in. Because there sure as hell won't be any available in October or November.

People need to stop attempting to read between the lines. You are not gonna get any bombshell truths at a routine press conference. These guys are all media-trained, and will always give non-answers to any questions, like if he will be in charge next season, and will Ali still be at the club.

He basically said that he thinks that he is staying, but that it is not really up to him. This means nothing. You could choose to read that as any of the following:

1. He is staying and will be in charge next season.
2. In his opinion he is doing a good job so will obviously remain in charge.

This does not mean that the club agree with his assessment.
3. He is subtly letting the club know that he won't step down, and if the club want rid, they will need to sack him.
4. He has no intention of staying beyond the summer, but he is not gonna suddenly make headlines just because a random journo asked him.

Just wait it out for a few weeks and you will likely get an answer. You aren't gonna get it from pre-match press conferences.

I also think we will draw at Villa and City will beat Bournemouth on Tuesday.

14 May 2026 11:33:11
We'll probably only secure CL because the other potential CL teams drop points...

12

14 May 2026 11:34:02
I agree, Shipley, as I said in another post; You won't get anything from trying to analyse pressers. Football clubs like control, and the key to control is compartmentalisation. Ensuring people only know what they need to know is how you plug leaks, something we know the club is very wary of at the moment.

If the call hasn't been made yet, then Slot knows sfa. Up until the moment the official decision has actually been made, the club will continue to get its ducks in a row behind closed doors in preparation for either scenario. Hence, the number of conflicting rumours.

14 May 2026 11:34:56
Guillem Balague, not sure on his reliability, is suggesting Alonso might take more time out and wait for the inevitable Slot sacking early next season. It seems Alonso really wants the job. Personally, I think he should get it in the summer, but it's up to Mick and Dick, I suppose.

12

14 May 2026 11:41:25
It's about time we started acting like a big club. Whether or not Arne gets Champions League or not, he should be gone. This is not acceptable. We shouldn't be hoping to secure Europe, we should be challenging for titles, not hoping for Europe as our aim.

16

14 May 2026 11:46:50
At the moment, Villa are the nearest team to Bournemouth Chicken. The match has been moved to Friday for the very reason that they have more time to recuperate and therefore can play a stronger team. They certainly won't be banking on winning the Europa final.

0

14 May 2026 12:00:41
Agreed, Dhfc, top 5 is not the merit by which a club of our stature should be judging a manager when the football and performances have been so poor.

6

14 May 2026 12:27:37
Agree that we won't get much out of pressers, however, think Slot would be a lot more bullish if he was definitely staying. We keep hearing about this end of season review, so hopefully that is where he will go.

The club have always encouraged chat about false transfers etc in the past as a smoke screen.

I'm going to believe that this is what is happening now with all this Slot staying stuff. He has lost the fans and they must see this.

3

14 May 2026 12:31:35
It's a huge global business, you can take it to the bank when I say, if behind the scenes he's been told he's not being kept on, or even if that conversation hasn't been had yet, he will be instructed to say nothing in public and it would be a dismissable offence if he does so.

1

14 May 2026 12:32:42
Not reading between the lines, and instead reading the actual lines, Slot literally confirmed he's involved with talks about the plan for next season and players they're trying to sign.

Either this guy is the greatest actor of all time, or the ITK's on here are absolute chancers. In 2 weeks time we'll know which!

29

14 May 2026 12:38:33
@Florian, They certainly banked on the Europa League semi-final game, and fielded a very weak team against Spurs.

I'd be surprised if Villa went full strength against us, with one of the biggest games in their recent history around the corner.

6

14 May 2026 13:02:26
@JLC, that made me laugh out loud - thank you.

Of course other teams in the league drop points. I suspect they may be doing it on purpose as part of a dastardly evil plot to keep Slot as our head coach next season.

Or, taking our tin foil hats off, perhaps another way of looking at it is that we will qualify because we have more points than other clubs.

Controversial, I know, and I apologise sincerely for introducing a bit of positivity, I'll try and stop doing it.

7

14 May 2026 13:06:17
They were 8 points ahead of 6th with 12 points to play for Gvardiol ahead of the Spurs game. Since then they've dropped 5 points out of 6 while Bournemouth have won their last 2. Villa should be ok, but unlike us, who are home on the last day, they have an away game to a City side still in title contention, so I imagine they go full strength.

Would have been better for us if this game was after the Bournemouth v City one, obviously.

14 May 2026 13:16:07
It's almost as if it's a tough league, WDW.

0

14 May 2026 13:22:57
A tough league that he won last season, Florian, when are these excuses going to stop?

6

14 May 2026 13:35:09
Excuses from me, Klopp, where? My post is literally in responce to someone calling another poster out for making excuses for how we will actually qualify for the Champions League. I apologise wholeheartedly for not looking for ways to undermine when we actually do achieve something. Oh to be a football fan these days.

1

14 May 2026 13:35:26
It's a sad state of affairs if we need Villa to field a weakened squad to have a chance to beat them. We have been dreadful all season and if coming fifth is something to celebrate then I am not a Liverpool fan.

6

14 May 2026 14:03:12
Personally I have adjusted targets for the remainder of the season, 1.) beat Villa 2.) play Gomez up front last game, lump it up to him for 90min, and if he scores have a parade to celebrate his first pro goal.

Re the manager situation, I find it hard to comprehend some journo's stating post press conf, that the Slot question has been answered, he will be manager next year, based on his responses...

"I have every reason to believe I will be manager next season"

"I am under contract for a year so will be here"

How many times have you heard a player/manager say that and be sacked/leave within a week.

Slot is not going to say he is leaving with a year left on his contract.

The club are not going to sack him with two games left and create a rather awkward situation in the last game at home.

The fact he is involved in transfer conversations is no surprise, he is head coach until he's not, and as such the best placed to advise on the pros and cons of the squad and potential incomings until he's not.

Nothing will happen until the season ends, we know that the question of how best to move forward is split at board level. One side will win the argument and we will know. Whether it's Slot, Xabi, Iraola... (hopefully Xabi, for multiple reasons, for me it's a no brainer).

But a football "journalist" asking that question at a presser with 2 games of the season left with CL qualification yet confirmed is a waste of a question.

Taking the answer he got as "definitive" evidence Slot is staying, he should not really be a football journalist.

We will know one way or the other within two weeks I'd imagine.

12

14 May 2026 14:58:17
I'm struggling to understand just how short-sighted the higher-ups are.

The whole if we get Champions League he stays narrative, we won the league last season and now with just 2 games left! The question is still if?

The fact that the Champions League qualification has not been tied up for weeks should say enough about how inept this manager is.

The clubs become such a farce in such a short period of time.

8

14 May 2026 15:35:44
Inbeta, is the supposition that we need Villa to field a weakened squad to beat them premised upon anything other than our own pessimism? They didn't exactly present a sizeable challenge when we beat them earlier in the year (granted we actually had some forwards healthy back then, and didn't have to field Frimpong, Ngumoha, and Gakpo as our front three).

I'm not saying that we will get the three points, but imagining that if they're up for it we'll get absolutely skinned is not an opinion I can really stand behind.

3

14 May 2026 16:14:30
Redweston, it happens. Only 12 short months ago Arteta at Arsenal and indeed Pep at Man City, who was the defending champion and had spent EUR250m on improving that title winning side, were still sweating over Champions League qualification with 2 games to go.

0

14 May 2026 16:14:45
Patrick, we couldn't beat Spurs who were on a six game losing streak with a manager who was at best, incompetent. We couldn't beat a Chelsea side who also had a six game losing streak and are currently being managed by a PE teacher. We even lost to Amorim's United side. We haven't won at home against any of the promoted sides this season, we've conceded the same number of goals as Rodgers did in 14/15, we're one of the worst side at defending see pieces in the Premier League, we're rubbish in possession and even worse out of it, we're second best all over the pitch almost every game (even Chelsea out ran us at the weekend).

There's every reason to think we'll not get any points out of the game and none to think otherwise.

13

14 May 2026 16:49:45
Well today's is he going or staying is in full flight.

I suggest the fans tell the higher than Slot ppl, via X, at the games and other social media ways, if he is truly (As) not wanted now, then fan power is the way imo.

Interesting point to factor in, next season, the beginning at least could be difficult due to the WC, factor injuries, holidays due to sides going deep into the tournament thus fragmented return to training of players.

A new voice could overcome the above as most will be playing for futures or team selection.

If he is to go, I'm in the now do it, not, as pointed out, burn up the first 10 games (25%) of the season to then decide, oops there's no good managers about.

As fans we have the right to suggest/demand change, as it's fan money and attendance that gives this wonderful club its aura.

1

14 May 2026 17:01:07
What do we have, a referendum every season from the members club. Managers given one yr contracts.
Are you not entertained!

1

14 May 2026 17:38:26
Viktor, sure, but we still beat Villa easily earlier in the season, and we're still 4th in the league. I'm not sure how all the stuff you listed means that us losing is a foregone conclusion?

2

14 May 2026 17:51:26
Agree vv. we've been absolutely pathetic in all honesty. Worst midfield in the league I'd say. So easy to walk through, dare I say, without Szob this season we'd be around mid table. Only midfielder worth keeping for me.

4

14 May 2026 18:19:46
Most recently, we couldn't beat far more inferior teams to Villa at home, Patrick, we also struggle away from home. We are weak and pathetic in midfield, we're not as fit as our opponents, we barely create half chances, we let opponents have multiple attempts at goal as well as run through midfield, we're the second worst at defending set pieces, there isn't one situation we're competent at defending, and we struggle to score.

You tell me the reasons we might win, other than "we beat them over 6 months ago", as there's no logical reason to think we'd win based on all available facts.

3

14 May 2026 18:39:04
Are we above or below Villa in the league after 36 games?

0

14 May 2026 18:50:30
Must say when we beat them last time I thought they were awful and we had 1 of our best games of the season. Surely they can't be that bad again unless they do play a weakened team.

1

14 May 2026 19:05:42
We're on equal points, Florian, so don't go making out that we're way out in front, it's entirely dishonest and disingenuous to suggest that being ahead on goal difference makes us miles better. We spunked £450m to compete with Aston Villa for a place in the also rans. Absolutely marvellous.

4

14 May 2026 19:30:08
Didn't say miles better, certainly didn't say miles worse either. We are ahead after 36 games, so we've been better. What money we spent is of no consequence. And if we only finish ahead of Villa on goal difference, we will still have been better than them.

2

14 May 2026 19:37:44
VV, marvellouls in deed. But I tell ya what? The levels of intellectual dishonesty & disingenuousness Florian and his ilk (whoever they are) will go to defend the season this manager has had, is off the charts.

Salah was right (not that I needed him to say it). The standards are really beginning to drop and like a rock, for that matter because had we had a season like this under Klopp after we won the title under the exact same curcumstances and money spent, many of us (including Slot's acolytes now) would never have accepted it. because I know I wouldn't have either.

4

14 May 2026 20:01:47
WDW, not everything has to be twisted into a positive. It's entirely possible to be in a particular position because the competition has dropped points. It's strange that you can't just accept that, given it's a hard fact.

Patrik, if you call being absolutely gifted 1 goal and the 2nd only going in due to a wicked deflection after Villa almost went 2-0 up early on, beating them easily, that's your choice, mate.

3

14 May 2026 21:09:08
Not trying to defend the season. A poster was saying "there's no reason to think we'll win" and sometimes it's just as simple as being browned off reading such whiny, entitled negative dross.

2

14 May 2026 21:35:33
I don't think you need to read between the lines.

He said it's not his decision, he has a contract and they're talking about next season.

I don't think that is unreasonable whilst upper management are considering options for next season without discussing with Slot.

1

14 May 2026 23:36:56
I still don't get this craze of clinging on to a lost league in anticipation of finishing in the top four, but I might be old fashioned. You enter a race to win, and anything other isn't good enough. It does help if you're still in a domestic cup, but it's embarrassing how competing for 4th is a league within a league.

Season is over, in my opinion, once the title is out of grasp and you're bitch slapped out of every cup. Sure, it's not the same every second week at Anfield, but ultimately it's still another game of footie. Roll up your sleeves and await next season to go again.

0

15 May 2026 04:35:00
Jeez, this is hard work.

@Chewy, you are right in that we are above teams that have lost points. I'm sorry I thought that was just obvious.

If you re-read what I wrote, I didn't say that we have played well to achieve the points we have accrued.

What I think I probably didn't explain was that we have lost points too, but not as many as the clubs below us. If we'd been capable of playing worse, and / or the teams below us had played better and won more points, they would probably be above us in the League.

But, here's the thing, with 2 out of 38 games left, they didn't play better and they aren't above us. I have to say, I'm positive that is the case, as I've just looked at the PL table, so, once again, apologies for the positivity and don't let it interfere with you seven eights of the glass being empty - it's your view and you are entitled to it.

2

15 May 2026 10:35:48
Arsenal will only win the league because teams below them dropped more points.

It's kinda how it works.

1

15 May 2026 17:18:27
Being 'better' depends on what that 'better' is gauged against. Football, for me, anyway, is not just gauged on collecting points, scoring or leaking goals. There's much more to it than that. If there wasn't, it'd be quite uninteresting and boring.

Ourselves and Villa are on a par if you only consider those factors; however, Villa supporters and club are having a much more enjoyable season than us. Based on that, I'd suggest that they are 'better' off than us currently.

0

14 May 2026 08:01:06.
Though I trust the Carra, FSW, TheFields etc. I think there's a lot of different versions flying about which to me says something is happening behind closed doors.

I mean slot called the summer a "little transition" yet according to reports we're moving on 9 players.

That's not little to me. So either slot is keeping it quiet or he hasn't been told what's going on or the papers are being fed stuff.

I'm at the point now that I think we'll only know the full truth at the end of the season.

5

14 May 2026 09:09:15
Is that actually a rumour?
But on the other hand it summons up the whole saga.
I think that much more will unwiel if we win tomorrow, not that there's much chance of that happening. But with the play, people responsible for that, Slot, Hughes and Edwards, there is probably a much bigger shake up coming the end of season.

Why are official reporters suggesting Slot staying, and why are they typing nonsense? Because if they don't, they want be fed anymore info from the club, so they wanna stay friendly with the top hierarchy, not to miss information coming the future. I think the same is happening in politics just much worse.

0

14 May 2026 09:23:06
Judging by his presser, he thinks he's staying.

I don't expect him to come out and say anything different tbh - but all the signs point to him being here at the start of next season.

But... I'm going to choose to believe Carra et al, because that's what I want to believe.

6

14 May 2026 09:36:57
Salah - out of contract.
Robbo - out of contract.
Woodman - out of contract.
Williams - out of contract.
Konate - out of contract.
Alisson - injury prone, possibly off to Juve.
Endo - rarely plays, only one year left.
Chiesa - rarely plays, wanted back in Italy.

Macca - has been awful and wants out.
Jones - not getting game time, maybe moved on.
Gomez - always injured and rarely plays.
Elliot - not wanted last year, needs a move away.

That's 12 leaving at least, with over £1.5m in wages per week to use.

8

14 May 2026 09:50:23
There will be further focus on top quality young players like Rio and the CB from Austria, who it's hoped will pad out the squad.
The idea is to have fewer, high-earning, injury-prone, unused squad players and more hungry young players who actually get to play.
This will enable bigger spend on key players.

5

14 May 2026 09:47:01
Edwards quickly realised that the squad purchases/sales had left the squad inbalanced, and that Slot did not have exactly what he needs to play his style. This was their major oversight.

Frimpong isn't good enough, Kerkez has not made the step up, We lost 3 players who press from the front in Darwin, Diaz and Diogo, and replaced them with 2 strikers who do much less of that and Wirtz who would need time to aclimatise.
Loosing Trent was much more of a problem than we wanted to believe it would be.

Proving that Slot is the right choice is partly ego, and partly that they truly believed that Slot was the right man for the job as per their deep research ONCE Alonso had opted out.

Rumour has it that the reason Alonso chose Real first is so that when he eventually manages the reds, there will be no talk of him leaving us for them, which could undermine belief in him as a longer term option. He is the type of manager that wants to build legacies,

Do not believe the narrative re Alonso's style of play - a great coach adapts and moulds the team to do what is required in whatever league and situation they are playing in. That the style of football in the prem has fallen off a cliff has added another component to the mix and was impossible to predict.

FSG allowed Edwards total control and we now find ourselves in a precarious position. What could have been the greatest transfer window of all time has actually diminished the foundations laid by Jurgen.

Edwards and Hughes are simply not as clever as they think they are - they do not understand football and more importantly people in the way jurgen does. Everything that was built before worked because there was a potent force as the figurehead and because there were 3 people bouncing off each other before decisions were made.
Edwards was not wrong to want Isak instead of Nunez but it is easy to overlook the qualitities which Darwin did bring - Jurgens LFC had 2 pressing forwards and Salah who's lack of pressing was balanced tactically. We lost all that with Edwards stat buys.

LFC's identity was based on running and pressing. They believed that Slots style would help avoid injuries and burn out, when in actual fact it has simply killed off the personality of the side.

There is so much to unpick and it is highly unlikely that Edwards or hughes will renew beyond the end of their contracts - they will be here until then though.

No one knows what is going on anymore, its chaos. I still see Alonso as manager come the summer. The fact that Manu and Chelsea will end up with whoever we don't get adds tension to the decison making process. The next steps are critical.

11

14 May 2026 11:00:53
Alonso went to Real first to stop people talking kite when he eventually joined us? Jesus Christ.

10

14 May 2026 13:05:21
@Keegan, There's absolutely no chance that all the players you have listed - including the ones that don't even play for the first team will leave.

The negativity on this board is getting out of hand, it's bordering on hysteria now.

6

14 May 2026 13:09:39
Why would you say that Kerkez hasn't made the step up? I'd say he has been the best signing of the bunch, at least he looks every inch a Liverpool player with the effort and tenacity he puts in, despite being ignored every time he overlaps on the wing. He's going to be a good player for us.

14

14 May 2026 16:08:18
There's nothing wrong with Kerkez. He's been mismanaged more than most. Brought straight into the team when he should have been eased in, causing Robbo to want to leave, and then, when he's acclimatised and playing well, dropped out of the team for Robbo, who has announced he's leaving.

He's played well in the big games and been a terrier when others have looked like poodles. Add to that playing on the same side as Gakpo and making energy sapping overlaps just to watch Gakpo cut in and lose the ball.

3

14 May 2026 16:14:32
Really wdw, and who exactly on that list will be staying? The 5 out of contract? Or the players most linked away from the squad in recent months?

1

14 May 2026 18:10:20
Florian Musiala - It's to do with the order of things. It would always be 'only a matter of time' if he came to LFC before Real. It's smart thinking, and only a rumour anyway.

0

14 May 2026 18:41:34
We'll agree to disagree with it being smart thinking, FSW.

2

14 May 2026 23:39:40
You've still got to ask why players want out and why do decent players become shabite overnight. Interesting, if another manager was given a chance with them, which might just happen during pre-season.

0

15 May 2026 04:47:14
@Keegan, why do you think that the press saying that 'X' wants to move makes it true, and as to the players coming off contract, the only one who said he is going is Robbo. This time last season the good money, based on expert opinion, was that VVD and Mo were leaving. Me, you and 99.9% of contributors / readers of this forum have no idea what is going on behind the scenes at the club.

It may well be your opinion that the 12 players you listed will leave. In my opinion it won't be 12. The point is that it is your opinion and is not a statement of verified fact, and in this case your opinion was presented as a fact.

0

15 May 2026 07:17:48
Half the issue, when Klopp was in charge, was we had a great starting 11 with 3-5 decent reserves, but he got the best out of the youngsters. At the moment, a lot of our starting 11 aren't playing well, but there is a lack of quality in the reserves, and Slot, for the large, has been ignoring the kids.

We need to build a squad, not just a starting 11, so, for me, we will have to look at some cheap or free transfers to build the quality. Our squad is just way too thin on the ground.

1

13 May 2026 21:20:26
The reliable Ben Jacobs now saying Liverpool will keep Arne Slot more and more saying Slot will stay. 🤔

5

13 May 2026 21:50:47
The same Ben Jacobs who said Newcastle were not selling Isak and Diaz was not being sold. Let's wait and see.

44

13 May 2026 22:45:37
Edwards is really taking all these journos for a ride if they are really going to sack Slot.

I think our only hope as Ed mentioned he asks to leave via mutual agreement.

Which I also doubt will happen with him being 100 percent convinced he can turn it around.

Ive flipped and flipped with my gut feeling and think now unfortunately he will probably end up staying.

Mass clear out at some point next season if it all goes belly up. Cannot see anyone surviving if this decision if it goes wrong. It will be a mass clear out of epic proportions.

My new and only hope is we get good battling players in the door that the next manager and staff can use as a good base to grow.

9

13 May 2026 22:54:37
This is all about showing who's in charge. It's a power play.

10

14 May 2026 04:42:57
How are some people gullible, as you put it, Retire the Slotmachine? Have you read some of your posts? You change like the wind. I think you must be the most gullible, as you put it. 🤔

1

14 May 2026 06:33:30
When will people learn that news stories nowadays are all about engagement, not truth.

It isn't worth torturing yourself over every story or morsel you find online.

The season will be done soon enough and we'll know shortly after that.

9

14 May 2026 07:13:43
He's obviously staying. I just don't see a world where Edwards rings every journalist in Europe and says "We are not going to sack Slot, (laughter in background) and you need to tell everyone this because I'm the boss".

I've worked with a few journalists over the years and they are not really the type to be pushed around or toe a line for the sake of it.

What I don't get is, if we lose one or two games or perform the way we have been at home at the start of next season, the fans will be mad and it will become very very difficult for Slot. Surely from his point of view, he wouldn't want to be getting booed every week? The job is stressful enough without that. So that is why I don't see the logic in any of this.

3

14 May 2026 08:00:39
The way I see it is, if Liverpool were keeping Slot, why hasn't Alonso already joined Chelsea? There must be some encouragement from our side. Whether that turns out to be XA becoming the manager, only time will tell.

As soon as Champions League is secured, I think things will ramp up. 🤞🏻 We just need the lads to put a massive effort in on Friday so we can enjoy Salah's last game on the 24th.

2

14 May 2026 08:27:05
I fear retaining Slot could be more catastrophic than Ferguson leaving United.

If the unthinkable happens, I think we will end up like Spurs, and Edwards and Hughes will ride off into the sunset blaming it on the manager with their reputations intact. Sadly, they have no allegiance to Liverpool, they are all ego and little evidence of talent to match their rep.

If Slot was staying they would have offered him an extension to his contract, why would they bankroll a manager who is in the last year of his contract, that’s my belief as to why he won’t be here next season.

I’ll space it out.

So Chewy thinks I’m
In the know.

I'm believing the opposite if Ben Jacobs has reported it.

100% Rusty. Feel the same about anything James Pearce reports.

Surely from the owners point of view re: sacking Slot or keeping him, is on hold for the time being because the most important thing by far
is making sure we secure Champions League football.

Therefore, publicly letting journalists, fans and even Slot know what they are thinking and what they are planning to do at this point in time would be very detrimental to achieving this.

That is by far the most important thing at the moment. So they and we need to support Slot and the players for the next two weeks or until Champions League football is secured.

They surely have at least an idea of what they are going to do after the season is concluded, and that is surely to relieve Slot of his duties based on not achieving the targets of this season, plus the type of performances that his management methods and style has delivered, which is not good as we can all see.

Surely they will be having conversations with alternative options, i.e. Alonso etc, and it will be announced that Slot will leave by mutual agreement at the end of the season, not sacked out of respect for what he achieved last season and a big thanks for last season as well.
And then we move on with the new manager and structure and new hope!
So the next two weeks will be about supporting Slot and the players, and then changes made and announced when we secure Champions League football.
That's my hope anyways.
