Hi Ed's, Is there any concern that Szob may not be interested in signing a new contract, or our long term project?
I would see him as the only top player we have this season (thats fit and regularly performs).
Is there anyone coming in for him?
I worry that whilst the big dogs may have written off this season to let slot do as he wills, there may be knock on impacts to the loyalty (? ) of our players to the project.
{Ed001's Note - as far as I know he is looking to stay, no one expects Slot to be in charge next season.}
15 Mar 2026 19:12:07
Steven Gerrard wants the job until the summer, Liverpool are insisting Arne Slot is their man. Decision time.
Arne Slot must be sacked.
15 Mar 2026 19:07:56
Wow, could be a change immediately.
Club are split in two ways on a decision.
Some say wait, others say cut the cord.
A very big decision to be made. No idea where it will go.
Ta.
15 Mar 2026 20:12:48
Carra, would it be Xabi or Gerrard at this point?
15 Mar 2026 20:13:38
Play like that on Wednesday, and the season is definitely over. We will play like that on Wednesday, as it's the only way Slot knows how, and the only way that he wants to.
15 Mar 2026 20:14:56
It would be silly to get rid of Slot now.
Said nobody ever......
15 Mar 2026 20:18:03
Make the change now, we are a mess!!
15 Mar 2026 20:19:35
Thanks, Carra.
I saw that, for the first time, we had tickets available before the game. That's got to be a huge point for the owners, I guess. In my opinion, if the club has decided to sack Slot in the summer, maybe it is better to bring in a new manager now to give him the chance to assess the squad, with the pre-season due to the WC. I know there is an argument that results might worsen before getting better, but then, even with him in charge and the way things are going currently, getting top 5 feels like a coin toss.
15 Mar 2026 20:20:20
Needs to be a change 2nite, Carra. Anything else is just negligent on the club's behalf.
I take no pleasure in saying that about a man that won the league for us, but we're going absolutely nowhere. I've seen a lot of poor LFC teams through the years, but this is the most spineless.
15 Mar 2026 20:20:45
Good lad, Carra, get in that room for us with a loud out out out.
15 Mar 2026 20:20:48
I'm truly baffled that some want this to continue - there has been zero improvement, and absolutely no signs that it will improve. If there were, then maybe, maybe he should get more time, but ultimately we've been awful for over a year now, and the players don't seem interested.
Do fans really want to see this kind of football? The boos at the end should be a very telling sign of how the fanbase feel, & the board need to act. A new manager bounce might secure the CL spot & the money that will bring in - sack him now & pay compensation or risk losing vastly more...
15 Mar 2026 20:22:00
Just put Stevie in until summer. It's not difficult. If you don't change, we don't get CL. The team are in free fall, playing sideways crab football. It's awful to watch, and we now have the players being booed off at Anfield.
15 Mar 2026 20:22:37
Will we get a Carrick or a Tudor?
15 Mar 2026 20:24:46
Those players aren't going to dramatically improve. Mid March? You can get Stevie in, or even Alonso. The team is underwhelming in key areas. A new man may get a tune out of this team, but look at their fitness, and it's Mid March. I'd welcome a new man in, though. The eyes would then be directly on players earning too much for what they are.
15 Mar 2026 20:26:06
As always, thanks for the Tim-Tams, Carra. I sleep better with you around.
15 Mar 2026 20:27:05
I cannot see how anybody can still be of the opinion that it is better to wait. They should be out the door with him.
15 Mar 2026 20:27:17
They won't pull the trigger before Wednesday, and probably not even then.
We can only hope, though.
If we go out of the Champions League, I think they might pull it. It will probably take that.
15 Mar 2026 20:27:19
It can't get much worse if the cord is cut now. I can see an argument for waiting until the international break, though, but why not go ahead and do it.
15 Mar 2026 20:27:30
Thanks Carra.
15 Mar 2026 20:27:52
Carra,
Who do you think would take over at this stage? Gerrard until the summer, or Alonso in now?
15 Mar 2026 18:58:58
Come on Carra, please tell me that was the final nail in the coffin.
15 Mar 2026 10:21:48
For honest replies. Score out of 100.
The season stops now! Or say after Sunday's game.
How would you rate it? Out of 100.
Take into account DJ20 RIP.
Take into account the outgoing players.
Take into account the players we bought.
My overall level of disappointment and frustration is that I could only score the club as a whole a 25/100.
That is purely because of the potential we do actually still have for a new manager.
We are all clutching at straws all the time on here. If this happens, if that happens, this players not good enough for us and so on. Fact is we are exactly where ought to be. So 25-100 for me and only that based on the potential for next season. This season has set us back to the Klopp getting 4th place when Alison scored against WBA.
15 Mar 2026 12:11:31
To paraphrase another former Liverpool manager, in reference to today's opposition, ironically, when you spend that sort of money you should be winning titles. Season has been an absolute failure. 0/100.
15 Mar 2026 12:25:01
End of the game week, we could, things going our way, end up sitting in 3rd position. If the season ended there, I’d say it’s a 55/100 season.
Reasons:
1) We walked the league last season and invested big money, it’s just not good enough.
2) The players (on paper) are very good players, as are the new additions.
3) Are we really that much worse than Arsenal and City? The quality of the league right now is abysmal and we’re miles off them. Whoever wins the title this season will go down as one of the 'weakest' title winners in the Premier League era.
4) Style of football and tactics are woeful and not at all suited to the players we had and have brought in.
5) Slot would still be here.
6) The vibe around the club seems awful; nobody looks happy, nobody looks like they enjoy playing.
Positives:
1) Getting CL would give the next manager more to play with; we’re too big a club to not be in it.
2) The squad, at its core, is good. I don’t think, under a better manager, the team is miles off. A few additions and a proper playing style that suits us and we’ll steamroll.
15 Mar 2026 12:26:42
Genuinely a 10/100. The only positive, really, is the new kit; it is boss looking. Performances have been on the floor the entire season. Very few moments of joy in footballing terms, and a team of lads who look uninterested in playing for a manager who doesn't look like he has a clue.
15 Mar 2026 12:34:08
The results have been poor.
The performances have been even worse.
The tactics seem non-existent.
The energy & pressing appear to have disappeared.
We are boring and predictably slow to watch.
If the season finished now, with us 22 points behind the leaders & just scraping into a CL spot with 500mil spent, it would probably be 10-100, and that’s generous due to CL spot.
15 Mar 2026 12:37:39
A 100 scale, eh? You heathen.
Entertainment (for the fan): 2/10.
Coaching (performance): 4/10.
Recruitment (performance): 5/10.
Players (performance): 4/10.
Season score (in your 100 scale): 37/100.
15 Mar 2026 12:45:11
Really, Victor? How much would you have rated it if we got relegated?
I'd say it has been 70/100. We fell well short of our potential, and a lot of the football was less exciting than watching concrete set, but there were still some highlights. Plus, we have 2 cups and a battle for European placings on so every game is still competitive.
15 Mar 2026 13:25:04
What highlights are those, Darwin? Losing to United & Forest at home? Getting battered 4-1 by PSV?
As for the 'everything to play for' schtick, well, our next game in the FA Cup is against City, who have beaten us comfortably twice this season and are more likely than not to batter us again at their place given how woeful we are.
In the Champions League, Galatasaray will more than fancy their chances against us, as they've comfortably beaten us twice this season, and since Anfield is more like a playground for opponents than a fortress for us (thanks, Arne, for normalising not winning at home. That's proper Roy Hodgson stuff), it feels like it is only going to go one way given how weak we are in midfield and defence and that Slot has no answers.
We're relying on snookers to get Champions League football next season, and we're incapable of winning consistently and certainly incapable of playing well.
70 out of 100 would be justified if we were in the top four comfortably, had a good chance of progressing and winning the Champions League, and were largely playing well. But none of those things are true. So 0 is perfectly reasonable given we were champions last season and spunked over £400m. This season is an absolute failure and nothing changes that.
15 Mar 2026 13:42:18
I rate it based on the excitement I have when I watched the team play.
Klopp's time: almost always 80 and above, even in the worst season.
Slot's first season, truth be told, I enjoyed because we won, not because of how we played. Putting the title aside, it would have been 65. Of course, the title changes the story.
This season, it is such a pain watching the team play, and especially so after spending all the money. All the players are disappointing, and for different reasons.
Frimpong - injuries.
Kerkez - didn't settle and had only 1 good game so far, and came in for Robbo way too soon.
Wirtz - compared to Suarez, Diaz, Torres, Salah... the kind of impact these players made, and the kind Wirtz has made is nothing short of underwhelming.
Ekitike - a lot of good things said about him, but I would say, at least so far, he is not good enough.
Rio (considered new) - strangely overlooked way too often.
So, 10 out of 100?
10 out of love, and not performance.
15 Mar 2026 13:53:23
Getting off track. Talking about what may happen in games we haven't played.
Season ends now?
By the way, 5th place is unlikely to be a CL place. So, 7.30 tonite cut off point. Whoever gave 70-100 nuts is totally nuts.
15 Mar 2026 14:49:08
1 performance I've enjoyed, but it made me mad to think why not like that all the time?
15 Mar 2026 15:08:52
Up to this point: 6/10, or 60/100, given everything that changed in the summer. It could easily go up to a 70 if they progress deeper in the cups and finish 3rd.
15 Mar 2026 15:24:37
Think I'm closer to Pete.
0/100 = relegation and no trophies.
100/100 = quadruple
Based on that scale, I'd say it's just about average. 50/100.
Win the CL and it would go to 75/100. Champions of Europe doesn't happen too often. It would be the only thing which would move the dial for me.
Win the FA Cup and I could call above average at 55/100.
15 Mar 2026 15:56:50
This has been a very bad season. Death of Jota, Trent and Diaz leaving, Giovanni's injury, not signing Guehi or Semedo, Slot not being able to use Salah at full strength, Wirtz's slow start and Isak's injury, bad form after a good start, Salah and Slot fighting, Konate and Salah out of form, and not signing a player in the last transfer window.
0/100 score for this season without counting our table position and cup form.
15 Mar 2026 16:18:33
Quite a good summation, VakPa.
15 Mar 2026 16:28:08
Did Galatasaray and City beat us twice comfortably? I must have missed those games. The 3-0 against City was a comfortable game for them; the second we somehow conspired to throw away. Galatasaray in the league stages won a dodgy penalty, put everybody behind the ball, and then somehow we failed to score.
Second game against Gala, very tough game in a very tough stadium. We should have gone ahead comfortably in the first 15 mins; they got the customary set piece goal and then started lumping it long the rest of the game.
We huffed and puffed, but I'd say overall the game was very poor from both sides, and they certainly weren't incredibly impressive. Their tactic involves sticking it long to Osimhen, and they are a much better side at home with their fans. Away leg, they have no fans at Anfield, surely you aren't pessimistic enough to think they'll have an easy time?
15 Mar 2026 16:32:42
I like Ron's rational. Agreed 50/100. The only way is up!
15 Mar 2026 17:24:45
I like this question. Lots of subjectivity, and I like hearing justification of people's scores.
For me, 50/100 is the max that makes sense: we've been poor in every area, and the reason it can't be higher is that the least expected was CL qualification, and at this point, we just make the cut.
Given how boring, weak, and unfit we've become, and the fact these were all unforced errors that have been obvious to most of us all season, and nothing has changed? I rate us even lower.
The only positives this year have been the signing of Kerkez, Ekitike, and Wirtz, as they're the only signings who actually improve us. For that alone, I give us 20/100. I'll also give 2 points to Szobo becoming a set piece specialist.
22/100 (currently, assuming CL next year).
15 Mar 2026 18:36:23
34/100.
15 Mar 2026 18:37:22
Close to Zero, closer to relegation zone than the league leaders. An absolute catastrophe, and the higher ups should have pulled the trigger months ago. Over soon at least.
15 Mar 2026 19:06:25
We've played a full 90s well once all season, and that was against Madrid. 25% seems right. Awful.
15 Mar 2026 19:18:53
I think 0/100 is very fair after today's latest offering. Anyone harbouring any thoughts that we'll get through on Wednesday if Slot is still in post is either delusional or insane. Take your pick which.
15 Mar 2026 19:25:28
Not taking it apart bit by not as you've given criteria, bit I will score based on expectation Vs reality.
We have an immensely talented squad that have proven last season they are capable of performing at the top level of domestic and European football. We strengthened that team (IMO) by purchasing some of the top performing players doemstically and from Europe.
Expectation - Perform as deserved favourites for the league and perform at a high level in the CL. Play fast paced, exciting & attacking football. Everything we needed was in place to restart another period of excellence, and dare I say it, with Slot mixing his 'controlled style with that of Klopp's energetic one, a period of actual continued dominance.
Reality - Klopp's energetic style, which was slowly on the way out in the title winning season, was fully abandoned. Our new 'total football' style does not suit the physicality of the league and offers no excitement or entertainment. We faltered quickly in the league despite early warning signs that this new adopted style was not going to work, yet persisted with it. Our manager, only months prior lauded for his ability to adapt and communicate effectively forgot to adapt to anything and communicated by admonishing his own youth players and making rubbish excuses in press conferences. Coaching must also be questioned as Players have lost fitness and cannot see out matches regardless of the caliber of opponent.
Score - 10/100 - Utter disappointment on all fronts. I genuinely feel all the work Klopp put into building out identity has been eroded in the last 18 months and the confidence of all the players has nosedived as a result. I am so fearful that if this isn't turned around we will sleepwalk our way back into 'also rans' obscurity like we were for so many years. Despite the signs being very clear we are on the downward trajectory, no one at the club seems to be doing anything about it, so I am also concerned about the clubs hierarchy being capable and/or competent to make difficult decisions.
Literally the only 2 positive things I have to say about this season. First is that we are still in with a chance of CL football next season, so the (hopefully new) manager will retain financial backing and the draw of the club to do his thing. Second is that some of our youth look alright. Rio looks a talent, Nyoni needs to bulk up but clear potential there, Jaquet looks alright.
That's about it. This entire season has been a disappointing underperformance and a boring repeat of Brendan Rodgers latter years where he earned a first class Masters degree in coaching sideways pass coaching, except this time there is no Klopp available to work his magic in putting that right. My score is not just about the season itself, it's about fear of if this is the start of a downward trajectory.
15 Mar 2026 20:12:44
Every match the score gets lower and lower.
14 Mar 2026 20:21:42
Meant to send earlier, probably old news now. 😂
15 Mar 2026 08:21:08
Probably... what was it?
15 Mar 2026 12:45:45
Someone shot JFK?
14 Mar 2026 20:20:18
Evening Gents,
I've heard a new contract for Alisson is due.
Have a great weekend.
14 Mar 2026 21:32:55
Is this the extension clause or a whole new deal, Robbo?
Ta.
14 Mar 2026 21:41:26
Great news that.
15 Mar 2026 06:04:39
Still a cut above. I hope he recovers confidence in his kicking. It looks like he's fearing injury, which is understandable as he's missed dozens of games in the past few seasons.
15 Mar 2026 09:55:37
Silvered, I believe it's a 1 year extension.
15 Mar 2026 10:14:17
Cheers, Robbo.
14 Mar 2026 17:39:10
Apparently we gave signed Jikiemi from Celtic. A highly rated cb who at 16 has been coveted by too clubs in England and the continent.
Fingers crossed it works out for the kid.
14 Mar 2026 18:38:37
Stockpiling centre halves for all age groups, ready for the summer change.
14 Mar 2026 19:48:12
Another young CB. One of them ought to turn out well.
14 Mar 2026 19:50:14
It's because, for multiple years now, our kids teams have been incredibly poor with results in relation to the rest of the clubs' results, and it's because there hasn't been a decent defender in the club outside the first 11. They've got all the attacking talents and some midfielders, but Nallo has been seen as the main centre half in the academy since he was signed from West Ham, and we're all well aware he's good for absolutely nothing.
Hopefully the 3 signed in January will be good enough, but it's definitely something that's been needed for a long time now.
14 Mar 2026 20:33:57
Must be collecting cb's like Arsenal.
15 Mar 2026 10:51:21
Taking it a step further, rather than a back four of centre halves, a full team of them?
The natural evolution to a team of Carraghers!
15 Mar 2026 12:45:58
I suppose that is one way of finding a Virgil successor - buy as many promising young CBs as possible, and hope that one makes it.
To be fair, the Austrian kid we got in January is a real standout in terms of size and ball-playing ability.
It's good to see the academy focusing on strengthening the young CB pool - a position that we have not produced enough quality in through the academy.
14 Mar 2026 12:38:09.
Few rumours I've seen.
Finn Jeltsch, young CB from Stuttgart, being scouted heavily by a host of Prem clubs including us.
Sean Steur from Ajax, seen as another talent even better than Kees Smit. Again being heavily scouted.
Samson Baidoo from RC Lens. Impressive CB and season. Seen as a Virg replacement.
Allan, young rw from Palmeiras. One of the next generation of talents. Nearly went to Napoli in the Winter but being watched by us as well.
14 Mar 2026 18:57:28
Heard Samson is very strong.
14 Mar 2026 19:08:52
Until Delilah cuts his hair.
14 Mar 2026 20:57:41
Should that be 'haired', @Molby?
14 Mar 2026 23:06:17
Exactly. 😂
I did Google him hoping he had long hair. Unfortunately not!
15 Mar 2026 00:48:32
Apparently he's quite the dribbler.
15 Mar 2026 11:56:37
Why, why, why?
15 Mar 2026 12:00:57
Anyone by the name of Allan especially from Brazil has not been a successful path to take in the past!
