Blast from the past. Has liverpools interest in Konoplyanka gone now Ed? I assume it has, don't mean to throw random names at you either thank you in advance.

Higgins

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any Liverpool interest from Liverpool since the start of 2014 (more than three years ago) and it would be fruitless as he is moving elsewhere in the summer.}

1.) 27 Feb 2017 15:48:58
Thanks for the update Ed I was unaware he was already off elsewhere enjoy the rest of your day 👍🏻.

Eds, Real AG or anyone else that may know, what is the situation with Brad Smith. Is he a Liverpool player or not? I thought he had left but I read in another thread he is still a Liverpool player but in contract dispute. Be interested to know what the dispute is and whether it is something that can be resolved with Klopp now in charge and he may be given a chance to impress or if it is essentially too late for that and the bridges have been burnt.

Higgins

{Ed001's Note - he is still registered to Liverpool. He was initially frozen out after refusing a new contract.}

1.) 11 Nov 2015 10:20:17
Thanks Ed001. Are there any other young LB at the club that could be considered for first team action? I am totally out of the loop since LFC TV stopped being free.

{Ed001's Note - from what I have been told, no, left back and centre back are the two areas most lacking in the near future. Academy wise I mean.}

2.) 11 Nov 2015 12:35:49
You surprise me Ed001. I thought Cleary, Randall and Brewitt were all highly thought if - especially Cleary.

{Ed001's Note - not close to the first team though mate, they are a couple of years away. I was talking about players being ready to step in now.}

3.) 11 Nov 2015 12:41:55
Brad Smith's is a club matter I think. Regardless of who the manager is, the decision has been made to not play him. I assume he or his agent has really pissed of the club. The same goes for Enrique.

As for left backs, Joe Maguire is the natural choice, but even when he was at U18s and making a step upto the U21s competition free, he just didn't look that particularly convincing. He has bulked up over the summer, and I haven't seen any U21s matches this season, but up to last season, there was nothing to suggest he was ready, and was looked upon as one of the weakest players on the pitch. Sorry I have been brutal here.

4.) 12 Nov 2015 01:55:26
I was under the assumption Lloyd Jones was before his loan, training with the first team and somewhat close when Rodgers was manager? And in all fairness we've had a few centre backs from our youth team play in the first team, the problem was Rodgers put Wisdom and Kelly at RB and they're now stuck there.

{Ed001's Note - your assumptions are all wrong. Lloyd Jones had been close but then a closer look said he needed first team football as he was nowhere near ready for us, hence the loan. Rodgers was not responsible for putting either Wisdom or Kelly at right back.}

05 Nov 2015 21:15:50
I read an article regarding David Wagner being appointed Huddersfield boss and how this might work out well for Liverpool in terms of loaning players out to them etc. Is this the media putting 2+2 together and getting 5 or is there some truth to this?

Reports advising that Ings has a "clean" tear of acl so could be back sooner. Anyone know about Gomez's injury and have an update?

Higgins

19 Jan 2015 08:51:18
Any truth in the rumours we have been looking at Teddy Bishop? BBC have us as favourites. One for the future I guess if it is true I just worry will be loaned out and never get a chance or take the chance of others. I know we need to hedge our bets and have a broad section of young players who may or may not make the grade. I can't help but feel that there are too many in this bracket and they can't all be given a chance even if the manager was willing to. Which he doesn't seem to be.

Higgins

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea about our interest sorry. I know Villa enquired but the asking price was 'ridiculous' (that's a quote from what I was told but I have no idea what amount that actually means!) so they looked elsewhere and ended up with Cleverley.}

1.) 19 Jan 2015 10:22:02
"so they looked elsewhere and ended up with Cleverley"

Has got to be one of the most depressing sentences ever!

{Ed001's Note - almost makes me feel sorry for Villa fans.}

2.) That made me laugh ed, cleverly is the definition of being called up to England just because you play for united

Morning Ed's and everyone. £1million question is Sturridge expected to be fit for the weekend as things stand?

Higgins

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

02 Aug 2017 08:01:18
Ed with Sturridge and his fitness in mind if he stays fit and plays like he showed last night he will end up in the England squad. I understand that we will have a specific training regime to maximise his fitness and prevent injury. Does this 100% get followed through to the National side? In the past I don't think it has, but we should be doing everything in our power to ensure it is. Surely it would be worth the investment. The lad is different class.

Higgins

{Ed025's Note - it happened with ledley king higgins but its not easy for the club to control mate..

This is banter ok, but wouldn't it be great if we signed Bale as a genuine left sided winger. It's never going to happen just like Leicester will never win the Prem.
But I'm pretty sure we were sniffing round Bale when he was at Forest but decided against it and he went Spurs. Any of the Eds have any more light to shed on that?

This post is tongue in cheek so please take it in the light it's meant to be! 👍🏻.

Higgins

1.) 16 Jul 2017 10:18:27
You mean Saints, right, not Forest?

You're right tho, that our chance for him went when he went to spurs, same as with Ali and Ronaldo (to Man Utd)

2.) 16 Jul 2017 10:23:40
He was never at Forest.

3.) 16 Jul 2017 10:24:52
Are you 'sleep typing?

4.) 16 Jul 2017 10:41:59
Go find his interview from his Spurs days where he said what he thought of Liverpool.

Over rated. He can't even score 20 goals in that Real Madrid team. Absolutely outrageous that he is the third most expensive player ever.

5.) 16 Jul 2017 11:44:42
He's not overrated but he is massively injury prone.

6.) 16 Jul 2017 12:23:52
Not over rated? He sold for nearly £90m about 4 years ago when transfer fees weren't ridiculous for every player!

He has broken the 20 goal barrier twice in his career and turns 28 today. For a player whose game relies completely on pace and who has suffered injury after injury, I'd say he is unlikely to ever hit his 2012-2014 form again. I won't say it's not good enough because that would be ridiculous. He is clearly a very good winger/ forward; Possibly world class even depending on how you perceive that term. But his injuries and inconsistency always seem to be forgotten about. I wouldn't pay anything over £50m for him but he would cost more like £150m!

I'm not saying he is bad, just that he isn't in the same bracket at Messi, Ronaldo and Suarez contrary to fact that he gets mentioned in the same breath as them. He isn't even in the same bracket as the guys below that like Neymar, Lewandowski, Aguero, Aubameyang.

I'd probably put him on a level pegging with Sturridge. A really good player who had a couple of absolutely exceptional seasons and has struggled to replicate it ever since. He really isn't worth the money, or the risk. That is the same reason why nobody will take Sturridge off of us. Bales hype from 5 years ago, and the fact he is out of the British media spotlight right now has blinded people to the fact that he is a shadow of the player which left England.

7.) 16 Jul 2017 13:02:46
MK have you ever considered writing a novel?

8.) 16 Jul 2017 13:46:14
MK, you're comparing him to Messi and Ronaldo with that criteria. He operates at the level below them which still makes him one of the best British players ever. In a team built around him he would be sensational.

9.) 16 Jul 2017 13:47:57
I for one would read any of mk scousers novels.

10.) 16 Jul 2017 13:43:52
Sorry but that's bull, bale is a fantastic player, his final season at tottenham was the only time i have ever seen a genuine one man team. I'd say you should watch him more often but alas his injuries are regular and it is a great shame. Regardless id take him at liverpool in a heartbeat, one of the best in the world when fit.

{Ed025's Note - last one man team i can remember is suarez mate..

11.) 16 Jul 2017 13:53:36
I'm writing one 😂 sorry for the length of some of my posts. I think some of my opinions are so unique though that I need to sort of justify them.

If I'd just left it at "Bale is over rated" and not explained myself, I'd look even more silly than I do after I've badly justified it 😂.

12.) 16 Jul 2017 14:42:35
Don't think anyone would be paying money for that Novel MK! :)

28 Jun 2017 11:32:21
Probably get a lot of hate for this. Defoe is available. If his wage demands aren't too ridiculous I don't think it's a bad shout. A one year contract to cover our squad and likely injuries, Ings could go on loan to get match fit. I know he has his deficiencies but he gets goals and could prove an asset and a short term fix. Unsure of his attitude but with his experience would he not be good for the youngsters also?

Let the abuse begin.

Higgins

1.) 28 Jun 2017 11:48:02
He's at bmouth.

2.) 28 Jun 2017 11:50:31
We don't need more strikers we have Firmino, Sturridge, Origi, Ings, Solanke, Woodburn and Brewster. We only play with one striker we should be trying to move the ones on we don't need not buying more in. Sturridge should be sold as much as I would like to see him get over his injury issues I can't see it happening. Ings should leave out on loan and get some game time he has had a long lay off with injuries. Woodburn and Brewster should be given chances in the cup when available. Solanke was player of the U20 World Cup that is a big honour and shows he has what it takes to challenge for a first team place. that's leave us with Firmino, Origi and Solanke as our main Strikers.

3.) 28 Jun 2017 11:59:07
I would take defoe all day long. We should have snapped him up years ago. But yeah if we are going to go with the strikers we have at the min. Which I think we will. Defoe would be brilliant as a back up. Much like when Fowler came back, if he would be happy to be our super sub that is.

4.) 28 Jun 2017 12:06:08
Higgins, no abuse as the concept of this makes sense. Also a chance for our youngsters like Solanke and Origi to learn via training. IN an ideal world, the older player then ends up on the coaching staff in years to come. A scenario like Gary Mac could be win-win-win for older player, club and younger players.

The only 'however' is that I don't think Defoe specifically actually works with our style of play. I may be mistaken (correct me if I'm wrong as I've not really watched Defoe over the years) but he isn't a pressing player? Nor particularly interchangeable, as our front line of Salah, Mane and Firmino would be. Therefore, if we need to change our style of play to accommodate him, it may not work out.

5.) 28 Jun 2017 12:37:47
Nailed on for Bournemouth.

Morning all. My brother in law got me tickets to a Liverpool game of my choice this season for my 40th. What would you suggest would be a good game to go to bearing in mind costs, travel and availability of tickets etc. Also kick off times do they have much of an impact? We will be having a night out after the game too of course so suggestions there would be good too. I'm based Northamptonshire and he is London. Only been Anfield half a dozen times or so and not since the stadium upgrade but then away at Leicester would be less travel for example. Cheers in advance for any input all.

Higgins

1.) 25 Jun 2017 09:47:36
Champions league semi final at Anfield 😎

Seriously, it can be difficult to predict. Kick off times definitely effect the atmosphere, avoid lunch time kick off in my opinion.
It's just a thought, but my random tip would be LFC v Newcastle Saturday March 3rd 3pm. We've had some barnstorming games with them in the past, the Geordies always make a racket without much nastiness, 2 attacking teams last season and of course the "Rafa factor".

2.) 25 Jun 2017 09:50:48
Kick off times will change for tv reasons so hard to call at all. Availability also is one no one can answer.

3.) 25 Jun 2017 10:04:47
Good shout Ron another 4-3 perhaps? Thank you and good point about games changing times for TV.

{Ed002's Note - No problem. If it is any consolation, she will leave to go to college at 18 and return when you are financially crippled at 22.}

Hi Ed sorry to pull you up but you have advised Liverpool expect to pay £3 million and then later on that you expect they will end up paying £2.5 to £3 million but are wrong in their assessment. Was there a typo somewhere as those figures suggest the assessment to be correct?

Higgins

{Ed002's Note - Perhaps you should read what I wrote again.}

I suspect he wouldn't command a large fee and I thought he was more of a winger? Physically a beast but does he have the brain and attitude to go with it or is he a Balotelli in the making?

Disappointed Lallana is injured, of course he would be first choice. However it does give an opportunity for Grujic who looks class. But worried about his temperament though looks like he has a red card in him. Anyone know his record for his previous club discipline wise?

Such a shame looked very dangerous and actually had that yard of pace back too. If there is any justice it's just a precautionary move it didn't look overly serious. To the poster above we would be fools to let him go unless we get a really generous offer.
