Sky news are saying that sources close to Liverpool have told them this afternoon that there has been no bid and no approach for Allison.

Irish red 89

1.) 17 Jul 2018 15:59:49
Have they haven't they who knows wait and see ;)

2.) 17 Jul 2018 16:11:18
The bid was apparently made after that report mate.

3.) 17 Jul 2018 16:17:49
rubbish. the horse has bolted its damage control at best. someone spilled to media to alert chelsea and someone covering it up. If bbc report it they don't front page gossip (apart from gossip link) lol.

4.) 17 Jul 2018 16:22:37
Nobody truly knows. BBC reporting the bid, sky saying its not true. Sounds like there is talks but after the fekir deal i'm not holding my breath.

5.) 17 Jul 2018 16:23:04
I know sky aren't very reliable and I tend to believe the masses, I'm just posting what they are saying.

They've actually said again since then that there's been no approach.

6.) 17 Jul 2018 16:28:00
I wouldn't take the BBC's word as gospel they've often been wrong. There are more reliable people who have said the bid has been placed so I believe it has been.

Sky do stuff like this regularly.

15 Jun 2017 10:06:49
Is it true that Newcastle are interested in Lucas? If so I wish him luck I think it's a great move for him.

Morning eds hope all is well with everyone.

Do you know if there is any truth to these latest mo salah reports that we have up our bid?
Or is there anything new in regards to us and salah?

Irish red 89

{Ed001's Note - last I heard everything was pretty much on hold to await the FA verdict on the tapping up as a transfer ban was very possible.}

1.) 12 Jun 2017 10:41:06
That would be great incredibly disappointing after last seasons finish.

2.) 12 Jun 2017 10:41:25
I've heard that nothing will come off it ed? I mean a transfer ban?

{Ed001's Note - probably won't, but that just means they have that behind them and can concentrate fully on getting deals done without any player not wanting to end up like Lacazette.}

3.) 12 Jun 2017 10:42:19
Potentially very grim news indeed. Would a transfer ban affect Solanke or is that across the line subject to us paying Chelsea the tribunal fee?

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea how it would work, if any such ban was put in place. I don't even expect a ban, but it makes players wary of setting up a deal.}

4.) 12 Jun 2017 10:42:22
Take it we are ok now on the ban ed?

{Ed001's Note - dunno.}

5.) 12 Jun 2017 10:43:06
When are we likely to hear the FA's verdict?

{Ed001's Note - I believe it is meant to be today, though this is the FA so I don't know for sure.}

6.) 12 Jun 2017 10:49:54
That's a good point Ed.

Thanks for the reply!

{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}

7.) 12 Jun 2017 10:51:38
Thanks Ed1. What a shambles. I was going to ask if our interest in Tadic was genuine or if the Times was trolling its readers but now I'll be praying that we haven't completely screwed it up.

{Ed001's Note - I am sure everything will become clear soon enough.}

8.) 12 Jun 2017 10:55:13
Lol just imagine if we did actually get a transfer ban Ed001. Another season of fullbacks who cannot cross a football, no width if Mane gets injured and Lovren will be licking his lips with no competition for his place. Our season will have ended before it even starts.

{Ed001's Note - or it could bring them together and the season before has gelled them as a team and we actually do even better than last year. You never can tell. Some people actually rise to the occasion when things go wrong.}

9.) 12 Jun 2017 10:44:05
Owe sh##. Very possible doesn't sound good at all ed. When will we ever learn.

10.) 12 Jun 2017 10:43:55
Welm doesn't that make it all the more important we seal the deal before there is any potential action? Surely once we've signed him and providing it's all above board the authorities can't do anything about it?

{Ed001's Note - no, because the FA has to agree to transfer the registration, so they could easily say we have to wait until it is concluded.}

11.) 12 Jun 2017 11:07:51
Wouldn't this screw up our plans if FA delays as if we are not already screwed in the first place?

12.) 12 Jun 2017 11:21:09
Thanks for the reply eds1.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome Ir89.}

13.) 12 Jun 2017 11:24:22
True that Ed001. In that situation, we can see how many of our players are capable of handling the pressure and expectations. Obviously the expected sales of Markovic, Moreno, Lucas, Clyne, even Sakho may have to be put on the backburner. Ojo, Chirivella, Gomez would probably not go out on loan either.
If the worst happened, I'm sure Klopp will throw the FA Cup and league cup plans into the dustbin and just focus on the league and Europe (and understandably so) .

{Ed001's Note - it would certainly make for an interesting season.}

14.) 12 Jun 2017 11:28:42
Shades of the Matip Afcon situation here. Then we f****d up and had to withdraw the player from the squad, now we're forced to hold back on negotiations because of our indiscretions.

15.) 12 Jun 2017 12:23:28
Oh wow didn't realise it was that serious, maybe for the good if the club they should get one to wake them the hell up. (Dont really want one btw but. )

16.) 12 Jun 2017 13:02:31
Silly thing was it turned out we did not need to withdraw Matip. Just did it to play safe.

17.) 12 Jun 2017 13:05:27
If we do get a ban, which I doubt, every club in the EPL will be scratching around trying to cover their own back because I doubt very much if there is a single club that has not tapped a player up somehow, somewhere.

18.) 12 Jun 2017 12:57:43
ED001 what do you mean other players not wanting to end up like Lacazette? Did we have genuine interest? What's the story there? I've tried the search function but only found people discussing buying him.

Thanks in advance.

{Ed001's Note - I think you are missing the point. Lacazette had a deal to join Atletico Madrid all set up only for Madrid to get a transfer ban. Now he is in limbo trying to find a move.}

19.) 12 Jun 2017 13:00:43
Hi Ed01. It's not possible right, if indeed we get transfer ban, that the ban will be an immediate ban? Maybe more like next upcoming windows? I am thinking about similar bans in Spain. But I do understand that those bans were given by FIFA, and probably different from FA.

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea how it would work, if it even happened.}

20.) 12 Jun 2017 13:29:17
Thanks for the clear up ED001.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

21.) 12 Jun 2017 14:25:36
Hi ed. Have any English clubs ever received a transfer ban before ( in premier league) it would be pretty harsh I reckon. This sort of contact between players and prospective clubs must happen a lot. I also agree with you that it wouldn't be the end of the world as we have a very good team anyway and this could ironically make it stronger. It would be a shame though as I thought this window might have been our most significant for some time. Any chance of klopp getting fed up and quiting?

{Ed001's Note - not that I am aware of but no Prem club has ever been guilty of so many repeated infringements.}

22.) 12 Jun 2017 15:36:06
Let's face it we probably deserve a ban. And when it comes to Liverpool I always get that feeling some backwards step is around the corner when it starts to look too positive. Hopefully not. I'm not even bothered if we miss out on VVD. I had believed we were going to stick with what we had anyway. It's just the club's reputation and the fact we clearly didn't need to do what we did.

23.) 12 Jun 2017 16:06:09
If we had a transfer ban it would be incredibly disappointing but frankly we couldn't complain. We're not the only ones guilty by any stretch but we are probably the most blatant infringer and hopefully the severe threat alone is enough for us to learn our lesson.

In terms of how we handle it, I have to agree with Ed it may actually be OK despite our fears, we have the bones of a very good squad already and we could do worse than let Markovic or Ojo have a shot at backing up Coutinho on left wing, letting Grujic get a shot at midfield, let Can and Hendo run the base of midfield and potentially even let Sakho have a chance to redeem himself at CB or let Gomez step up. The main problem is still at fullback but Milner at LB isn't the worst option in the world, and hopefully TAA comes through next season to keep Clyne on his toes.

Bottom line is, as bitterly disappointing as it may be we'll all survive even if we'd all love to see Salah, VVD and Mendy join.

24.) 13 Jun 2017 01:25:01
Well said zimbo. I totally agree. Markovic actually did pretty well at Hull. There's no doubt he could do a back up job. Spent 15 mil too much for him. We could also do worse than Milner at lb but what if he gets injured? I've very little faith in moreno. . Even as a back up player. Any one we add to squad will be a bonus. As long as we don't lose anyone big were in with a shout next season.

{Ed002's Note - In answer to a previous comment, in the Premier League there are transfer bans relating to two clubs already in place in regards to Academy players - one of which is Liverpool.}

Keita is class.

Irish red 89

1.) 19 Jul 2018 23:34:28
Of his own.
He's looking more and more comfortable every time I see him.
It may take a little time for him to REALLY deliver in the Premiership, but he will. Between him and the front 3, there will be times this season when teams won't know what hit them.
Different style of player, but he reminds of the way Momo Sissoko used to go after the ball. "You've got the ball, I want that ball, I'm having that ball".
Relentless, but with an eye for a pass (sorry Momo! ) .
A ball seeking midfield missile.

19 Jul 2018 21:06:44
5 year contract for Markovic.

Irish red 89

1.) 19 Jul 2018 21:15:10
Start him over Salah. Fekir who?

19 Jul 2018 12:43:59
I hope karius stays because IMO if he gets his confidence back he's one of the best second choice keepers around and with Alisson hopefully done soon we're more than sorted in that department.

Irish red 89

1.) 19 Jul 2018 13:32:45
I disagree. I would rather have Ward but saying that I'm happy he is going to maybe get a chance at a decent Premier League team.

2.) 19 Jul 2018 16:48:32
I’m not sure how he gets his confidence back sitting on the bench?

3.) 19 Jul 2018 17:29:57
I've not seen that much of Ward, but he impressed me and quite a few others, I think Leicester have potentially improved their gk and I guess made a profit, what did son of smeichael go for?

Frankly Shankly GOUT?

Sorry to heard that, la.

5.) 18 Jul 2018 13:47:40
Post of the year, easily. Shabby owners didn't even bother going after Ronaldo, Messi. Courtois is available on the cheap, you'd think they would attempt to move base to Madrid surely.

17 Jul 2018 14:22:20
Question for ed 02 and apologies if you've answered this already.

I've read that Allison would favour a move to London over Liverpool, do you know if this is true or just paper talk?

The reason I ask is because this was the case with Alexis Sanchez.

Irish red 89

{Ed002's Note - He would favour a move to Madrid over England but the chances of that are diminishing. I don't know what his preference would be - living in Surrey close to Swinging London where all the hep cats want to be, or living in the grim, wet and cobbled streets of the Northwest of England where there would be a significant cultural change, smog, dead & dying pit ponies laying on the street, little chance of football of the highest quality and only chips and fried curry to eat.}

1.) 17 Jul 2018 14:44:23
That’s no way to talk about Manchester edd2.

2.) 17 Jul 2018 14:47:46
Has WDS been chomping on an Electric Brownie again 😂.

3.) 17 Jul 2018 14:48:47
WonderDogSparky and yourself (Ed02) do have a similar view of the Northwest of England.

{Ed002's Note - Apparently.}

4.) 17 Jul 2018 14:49:25
Have you ever considered a career in tourism, Ed002?

When you hang up your rodeo spurs, of course.

5.) 17 Jul 2018 14:49:50
Ed2 Blunt as ever i see. On a serious note do u ever see a time when clubs in some of the least favourable cities (according to some ppl) would have their training bases in London. If stories are to be believed players have opted for clubs in London due to the city rather than the clubs.

{Ed002's Note - No but some clubs, like Liverpool and both Manchester sides, have offices in London. There is simply not the space available for training facolities. If you look at Chelsea, they own a 140 acre complex in Surrey - more than 10 times the entire Stamford Bridge complex including hotels, shops, restaurants etc.. Arsenal has a similar sized facility out near St Albans in Hertfordshire and Spurs facility, which is only about half that size, is out by the M25 at Waltham Cross. So London itself is not viable.}

6.) 17 Jul 2018 14:52:11
Or live in the polluted, non-friendly and highly congested London, grab a bite at the Rabbit and Eagle where Harry the part time shoe polisher will serve you jellied eels and mash and a pint of room temperature Shedhead .

7.) 17 Jul 2018 15:04:01
Thanks for the reply Ed.

8.) 17 Jul 2018 15:07:15
Manchester fans will be disgusted ed.

They don't like there dirty laundry aired.

9.) 17 Jul 2018 15:09:27
So the northwest it is then ed by the sounds of it.

10.) 17 Jul 2018 15:15:49
Haha, hep cats.
I have a feeling he'll replace Courtois at Chelsea, but who bloody knows at this point. Maybe the Champion's League and Bobby buying everyone a beer will convince him. Or it could depend on Willian and a spit-roast at Rodizio Preto, who bloody knows.
Personally, I would have reservations about a player who isn't keen to sign for the club from Day 1.

{Ed002's Note - Actually Willain is a part owner of a restaurant called Babbo.}

11.) 17 Jul 2018 15:19:28
Samuel. A, you've been watching too much Family Guy ;-)

12.) 17 Jul 2018 15:30:01
I don't own a television Zeddicus, I am very much feral but sometimes i hang out with the hipsters at Cotton Computers Internet Cafe.

13.) 17 Jul 2018 16:10:42
To be fair Ed002 when you said there would be a significant cultural change, smog, dead and dying pit ponies laying on the street, little chance of football of the highest quality and only chips and fried curry, I thought Luton Town had made a bit for him.

14.) 17 Jul 2018 17:51:58
To be honest though, if you want to win stuff, surely 'oop north' is where it's at for football players traditionally? Certainly in my lifetime more trophies have gone to teams outside of glorious London.

{Ed002's Note - Neither of the Manchester clubs have any interest in him.}

15.) 17 Jul 2018 18:22:49
I’m sure if we’re spending £60million we can use a bit of cash to clean the dead and dying pit ponies up from the streets and dump them in the Thames 👍.

16.) 17 Jul 2018 19:51:48
Wow, Ed02. Sounds like North Dakota.

{Ed002's Note - One of the States I have never visited.}

17.) 18 Jul 2018 01:11:35
Step into your freezer in the winter and your oven in the summer. That's north dakota.
