Hi Ed2,
Is there any chance you could do a round up of centre backs which we have shown interest in/ scouted recently, who could be potential signings for the summer?
I think you did a RW one recently, but on searching I couldn't find one for defenders.
{Ed002's Note - Something like this:
Tosin Adarabioyo (CB) Spurs interest may remain as they struggle to sign their preferred options and are still light at CB - although they may not guarantee a starting role. Free Agent in the summer and expect MIlan and Monaco to make an approach for discussions before then. Milan fear the departure of Fikayo Tomori with Monaco being light at CB and running the chance that Guillermo Maripan will move on. West Ham will also consider making the player an offer. Wildcard may be Liverpool or Manchester United. Fulham will look to a new contract which may win out - or just perhaps a move to Spurs.
Dean Huijsen (CB) On loan at Roma who will try to sign him. Being scouted by RBL, Liverpool, Newcastle, Frosinone and Borussia Dortmund. Will talk with Juventus and consider his options – perhaps Borussia Dortmund will be attractive.
Goncalo Inacio (CB) Watched by scouts from a number of PL sides, including Liverpool and Manchester United, with the latter declaring an interest. Sporting will not be keen to do business with Liverpool although the club could potentially pay his full Release Clause and force the situation if the player is interested. The other sides to declare an interest are Newcastle and PSG, but PSG have a plan over another player. Real Madrid offer a wildcard option. Sporting would rather not sell and are looking to a new contract and an increased release clause. Newcastle have begun talks with Sporting in order to be able to speak directly to the player and to understand if there is flexibility in the payment schedule – it seems most unlikely that will be successful. Arsenal interest would have departed with the signing of Timber. The player has also been offered to Chelsea by his agent when discussing another player, but they have preferred options for a long-term Silva replacement. The player is open to a move to Manchester United.
Piero Hincapie (CB) Interest of Nottingham Forest will go nowhere. Scouted and rejected by Spurs as not being ready for the Premier League, but he may well be now and they could well look again. Open to a move to Liverpool as they look for cover but his expectation is to be a starter and their interest is not as advanced as supporters think with no agreement reached for January. Milan and Roma have both sent scouts. If they sell in January there will be a significantly high expectation in terms of a fee. The club will look to hang on to the core of Tapsoba, Hincapie and Tah but I would not rule out a summer move.
Murillo (CB) The sharks are circling as Nottingham Forest look to shore the club up against further FFP charges and move players on. Liverpool and Chelsea have sent scouts but I understand both consider him physically short to meet their desires. Barcelona have also sent scouts as they see him as versatile enough to fit in a three with their revamped defence. Real Madrid and Manchester United offer wildcard options.
Perr Schuurs (CB) Interest gone.
Jean-Clair Todibo (CB) Interest gone.
Antonio Silva (CB) Benfica say that "many scouts" have been to watch the player - perhaps they are looking for someone to pay his €100M buy out clause - a move at that price seems unlikely but Bayern Munich, PSG and Manchester United are keen and he is first choice for Manchester United next summer but both PSG and Real Madrid should not be discounted. Juventus and Napoli would want a reduction in the asking price to make any move viable. Looked at by Spurs and Manchester City. For Liverpool perhaps a Konate replacement but very unlikely. Discussed with Chelsea during a conversation about another player and perhaps number two on their lengthy list of options but there is a part exchange option. I think Manchester United could get something completed.
Ousmane Diomande (CB) Joined in January 2023 and covered by the Cotonou Agreement. Sporting see him as a long-term partner for Inacio and do not wish to sell - rejecting an offer from Arsenal in the summer. Arsenal could look again but have other targets as well. Newcastle, Manchester City, Liverpool (via a third party) and Chelsea have sent scouts to watch him and Chelsea have declared an interest in him. Sporting will insist that his Buy Out Clause is paid in full. Newcastle or Chelsea seem best placed.
Bafode Diakite (RB/CB)) Scouted by Liverpool. Very versatile.
Leny Yoro (CB) Lille kiddie who already has PSG, Chelsea and Real Madrid declaring an interest. Manchester City and Manchester United have sent scouts and Manchester City may be keen to do something. May have been noticed by Liverpool when scouting another player against Nantes, but no declared interest at this time - regardless of reports saying they will pay €90M for him. Lille will resist a sale unless someone pays significantly over the odds for him. Chelsea has a preferred option but Real Madrid may push. Lille will ask for a player on loan as part of any deal with Cesare Casadei and Arda Guler mentioned. The player is keen on Real Madrid if he will get game time - else another year at Lille. Maybe not rule out PSG or Chelsea.
Ko Itakura (CB) The ex-Manchester City player was on the Kim replacement list for Napoli, so is well thought of. Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Spurs have sent scouts - and his agent has very strong ties to Spurs. Al Nassr will offer a solution.
Lloyd Kelly (CB) Free Agent interesting Spurs, Milan, Borussia Dortmund and West Ham. Wildcard may be Fulham, Newcastle or even Liverpool. Home Grown.
Maxence Lacroix (CB) Wolfsburg and Rennes failed to complete the exchange of Lacroix and Majer due to a minor sticking point over about €5M difference in valuation, meaning Wolfsburg needed to pay €25M and they wish to continue to balance the books and need to trim their squad so may be open to the sale of Lacroix. Prior interest of Chelsea and Leicester has gone. Interest of Liverpool and PSG remains but he would only likely be cover for either club.
David Hancko (CB) Only joined Feyenoord in 2002 and a clear not for sale was the response when Newcastle asked after him in 2023. I am not aware of any formal approach from Liverpool to Feyenoord but they were represented by scouts at games against PSV and Celtic in December. Agent has been offering him around with contact made with Chelsea (who have no interest), Liverpool, Bayern Munich and PSG - and likely others. When Slot moves to Liverpool the he might look to Hancko - but Feyenoord will point to the contract signed in February. He would be a van Dijk replacement. Don't rule out Napoli looking to him.
Kevin Mantilla (CB) Brighton, AEK Athens and Liverpool had scouts watching the youngster before he moved to Talleres from Santa Fe in the summer of 2023. The English clubs know he would never be home grown and would be unable to gain a Work Permit in England. Brighton have continued to scout the player will possibly look to place him at sister club Union Saint-Gilloise. Liverpool may maintain an interest still but it is difficult to see anything coming of it anytime soon.
Willian Pacho (CB) Eintracht Frankfurt have told Real Madrid the left footed CB is not for sale but they will accept €60M plus. Liverpool and Arsenal have sent scouts with Arsenal making a far lower offer and having it rejected.}

Excellent info as always. Many thanks.
Murillo or Hancko potentially are amongst the most achievable/ realistic LCBs I presume. Inacio would be the perfect VVD replacement but guess his price and our previous conduct makes that move unlikely.
2.) 30 Apr 2024 12:44:40
Hancko and Inacio for me, sell virg and Gomez too.
3.) 30 Apr 2024 16:26:47
Thanks eds2
Can I ask in your opinion who off that list who would be the best for us?
{Ed002's Note - Hancko will make a good van Dijk replacement.}
4.) 30 Apr 2024 17:18:21
Ed002 no guehi interest?
{Ed002's Note - Ex Chelsea Academy so perhaps. But I am not aware of any approach. There have been discussions with other sides.}
5.) 30 Apr 2024 19:45:25
Hancko and Inacio here too Magico, not they fussed about Guehi, he’s a bit short for a centre back.
6.) 30 Apr 2024 22:09:24
Ed002 - with regards to Hancko would this be someone who could play next to Virgil or be happy to bide his time until Virgil is no longer performing, or would him signing in the summer mean the likely departure of him?
{Ed002's Note - He would be an obvious replacement - he would not move to simply be cover.}
7.) 01 May 2024 18:12:40
Surprised interest in Todibo has gone he looks good. I’d love Diomande.
8.) 01 May 2024 21:46:51
I am just surprised out of favour Kim Min Jae is not on list.
9.) 01 May 2024 23:30:49
Brilliant info, much appreciated.
10.) 03 May 2024 20:55:23
Leek, Kim just moved to Bayern this season so he is going nowhere hence, not worth putting on any list a this time, IMO.
16 Aug 2023 11:20:01
The Independent reporting we are 'advancing' for Doucoure.
If true I think he would be a very good addition, looked very impressive in his debut season and won POTY.
Only downside is we have left it a bit late for Palace to get a replacement so they are probably going to rinse us for every penny.
1.) 16 Aug 2023 11:42:44
We have a 110 million so if possible sangare and cheik doucore would be great in the defensive midfield positions, i don't care how good he has been but we need a replacement for robbo in this new role.
2.) 16 Aug 2023 11:43:59
At this point we need to forget about the money I think. We’re going to have to pay through the nose so I’m more bothered about whether he’s the right fit, which I think he absolutely is. We need a 6 and he fits the bill so if it’s £70m then we just need to pay.
3.) 16 Aug 2023 11:58:14
I have no idea about Doucoure but hope that if he does come that Bajcetic isn’t forgotten.
4.) 16 Aug 2023 12:06:44
Doucoure is the best of the remaining options, if we want someone to hit the ground running.
5.) 16 Aug 2023 12:12:47
I think Bajcetic has the advantage of being fairly versatile so I'm sure he will still get his opportunities in CM and DM (and previously CB) in a season where we could be playing 60+ games.
6.) 16 Aug 2023 12:29:42
He is a cracking player. A non nosnesne out and out DM. will sit there and stop all the attacks. Not going to do any fancy turns or tricks And I am personally very happy with this choice.
7.) 16 Aug 2023 13:26:45
Habibi- I think he’s a little better than you give him credit for, he’s not bad on the ball. I just can’t see in this situation how we don’t end up paying £60m as a minimum, more likely £70/ 80m, not the reported less than £50m.
8.) 16 Aug 2023 13:42:39
Good player but in their opening game his midfield partner, Lerma looked much the better player. The right sort of player to free up Mac Allister though to go more box to box in that midfield duo. Hopefully Chelsea don't get involved ?.
9.) 16 Aug 2023 15:13:46
@faith. I believe he's seen more of an attacking player. He just excelled in the defensive midfield when asked to play.
I am certain to see him playing an attacking role once fully fit with the possibility of filling in defence duties if need be.
10.) 16 Aug 2023 15:01:35
Advancing for him? Is Jorge waiting round the corner from his house with a box of Milk tray?
11.) 16 Aug 2023 15:48:26
Faith why would it impact Bajetic? You do realise we need a DM immediately.
12.) 16 Aug 2023 15:52:54
I see more of a crab like movement from a few members of staff as a startled Doucoure's ears pricks up and he tries to gambol away.
13.) 16 Aug 2023 15:48:26
Faith why would it impact Bajetic? You do realise we need a DM immediately.
14.) 16 Aug 2023 15:56:48
we need Doucoure and I have heard that he is happy to come to Liverpool, sign him up, just under 60 million, giving us some change to bring in a LCB,
Happy Days .
15.) 16 Aug 2023 15:57:45
Baj will be just fine, he will get plenty of game time, this time, don't rush him .
16.) 16 Aug 2023 16:15:00
He can also play center half makes perfect sense to me.
17.) 16 Aug 2023 16:27:46
Doucoure is good! I have never lost confidence in Jörg Schmadtke, FSG and transfer team!
18.) 16 Aug 2023 16:53:19
Did chelsea get mixed up on which player we contacted crystal palace about?.
{Ed002's Note - The embarrassment just won’t stop. Are you all intent on looking stupid?}
19.) 16 Aug 2023 17:08:12
haha good one John! I can honestly say that I've not seen much of Doucoure, though there is obviously a pressing need for a DM, and if he's as good as others have suggested then I'm happy. Also, Liverpool need to take their business back behind closed doors, no more embarrassment please! XD.
20.) 16 Aug 2023 17:17:14
Ed002, are we not allowed to have a joke on here anymore?
{Ed002's Note - Of course but all of this is demonstrating ignorance or stupidity. We have been through those who think the Saudi PIF are the secret owners of Chelsea, and the many, many fans who think Saudi Arabia is in Europe and we are now on to those that think Liverpool showed interest in and made offers for players before Chelsea.}
21.) 16 Aug 2023 17:42:04
We and this includes me realy do have some of the thickest fans in the country.
22.) 16 Aug 2023 18:19:16
Or maybe some people just want to have a bit of a laugh oh2. Ah well so long as we all don’t mind being insulted for it. I for one am not bothered about jibes from keyboard warriors. This forum has always been like that and it doesn’t look like it’s going to change anytime soon. Just ignore it.
23.) 16 Aug 2023 19:16:15
@Westwood, I get what you're saying but poor ed2.He has to deal with loads of nutters and it must take its toll.
The dudes not even paid for his work. He bends over backwards to keep us informed.
I can totally understand why he gets annoyed at us fans.
24.) 16 Aug 2023 19:23:18
I think the problem is we don’t get to see all post that come in so that leads to only part of the thread. Believe it or not even I have posted stuff that the Ed’s have decided not put thru. I know shocking but that’s the way it is folks. But I also understand the Ed’s get more abused than they should.
14 Aug 2023 10:11:59
Guardian reporting that we have agreed a 60m fee with Southampton for Lavia. Bit sceptical as this fee seems high. But maybe it turned into an auction with Chelsea recent bids.
1.) 14 Aug 2023 10:29:28
Anotehr masterpiece from Jorg. The kid was available all summer for £50 mill.
2.) 14 Aug 2023 10:29:49
Are we starting this war again, I am tired already. Liverpool has no other option than to overpay, unfortunately, you have talked with that guy whole summer, then turned your back on him and now as options you have only him or someone who has no PL experience and will be even bigger gamble.
3.) 14 Aug 2023 10:29:56
Back where we were 5 days ago. lol
Only shout when confirmed by the club.
4.) 14 Aug 2023 10:28:28
Apparently, he also has his heart set on Chelsea.
5.) 14 Aug 2023 10:28:54
Chesleas last bid was around £55m so that makes sense, £60m is madness but it could pay off, who knows.
6.) 14 Aug 2023 10:33:18
Well we are gunna look so amateur if lavia rejects us for Chelsea ended up paying 14 million more if we do get him . Internally the club needs structure it feels like their is no plan at all . This needs addressing rapid aswell.
7.) 14 Aug 2023 10:39:51
Lol @ Habibi
I think the agents of these players are earning their money this window.
I’ve heard he’s off to Chelsea, but who really knows - only the player.
It feels a bit like the Caicedo offer unfortunately. We’re trying to outbid Chelsea but we won’t be able to do that IMO.
8.) 14 Aug 2023 10:41:09
He deserves to be at Chelsea if its down to choice, Bajcetic is as good if not better and costs nothing.
9.) 14 Aug 2023 10:47:01
That seems very odd, we wouldn’t pay £50m last week, I believe Chelsea had a bid of £48m accepted and now we are bidding £60m, I’d rather we moved on.
{Ed002's Note - The Chelsea but was £52M plus £3M in add ons.}
10.) 14 Aug 2023 10:59:38
Surely LFC would have spoken to Lavia’s representatives before making this latest bid to ensure he wants Liverpool?
11.) 14 Aug 2023 11:00:40
Ed do you no if we have come in again? I thought we would have moved on by now.
{Ed002's Note - RTFP.}
12.) 14 Aug 2023 11:40:30
His heart set on Chelsea it's about the money if we matched there wage offers there's be no doubt Chelsea would be forgotten.
13.) 14 Aug 2023 13:44:42
Hi Ed002, did LFC really bid 60m for RL?
{Ed002's Note - RTFP.}
13 Jul 2023 10:48:16
Ornstein reporting that Al Ittihad are going to offer £40m for Fabinho.
Anyone aware of any truth in this? And would we be open to a sale?
{Ed002's Note - Fabinho (DM/RB) May make way in the summer if a DM player arrives. There is interest from the UAE and Saudi Arabia in the Middle East and the player will be aware Liverpool have been making efforts to bring in a replacement for him.}
1.) 13 Jul 2023 11:16:58
They've more money than sense.
2.) 13 Jul 2023 11:24:31
Thanks Eds. Surely too good to turn down for someone who's on the decline and is only going to be phased out. Plus doesn't offer the same level of leadership as a Henderson to warrant keeping him around the squad.
{Ed002's Note - Sure, and a good chance for Liverpool to get in some of that nice Arab oil money the fans hate so much. I don't want to comment on the value but it seems the club are now looking to replace Fabinho rather than supplement him.}
3.) 13 Jul 2023 11:42:45
Surely we wouldn't go into new season with 2 x 19 year olds as our dm's, baji + lavia . Far too vital a position.
4.) 13 Jul 2023 11:43:53
Thanks Ed, does this mean Liverpool will look for someone more experienced than Lavia if Fabinho is to leave? It seems a big ask for a 19 year old to become the first choice DM in a top 4 side.
{Ed002's Note - I expect someone more experienced.}
5.) 13 Jul 2023 11:47:48
Ed002 I don’t hate it, I hope him and Henderson go both been great servants for the club but to get some money in would be great for them 2 hopefully Thiago as well but out off the three he is the one I would keep.
6.) 13 Jul 2023 11:50:27
Hi Ed002,
By replacing him do you mean someone other than Lavia as I would have thought he would be brought in to supplement Fabinho with the thought being to eventually replace? Is there anyone else you think we may look at now that it looks like Fabinho May go?
{Ed002's Note - Why is ist so difficult to understand?}
7.) 13 Jul 2023 11:54:29
Koulibaly, Al-Hilal € 23m
Mendy, Al-Alli € 18.5m
Kante, Al-Ittihad Free
Chelsea fans would appear to have no such qualms - must have been inured by the much maligned, man of the people (except Ukrainians of course) Abramovich.
The constant whining about ‘Liverpool-fans’, is tiresome and at the very best a crass generalisation. I await a petulant response.
8.) 13 Jul 2023 12:06:12
Ed002,
I had this written before all the other questions were published. Apologies I see you have responded saying someone more experienced.
{Ed002's Note - No problem Teddy.}
30 Jun 2023 18:52:34
Joyce and Romano reporting we have informed Leipzig we are activating the £60m clause to sign Szoboszlai ?.

Hi Ed1, are you going to be doing a match review of the Wolves game? They have been a big miss recently, always an insightful read. Cheers.
{Ed001's Note - yes.}
1.) 17 Feb 2025 13:38:16
Thanks!
{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}
30 May 2025 11:44:17
Edwards could sell sand in a desert.
11 Feb 2025 14:54:31
Saying Salah is not a great team player is insane.
09 Jul 2024 15:46:48
Hi Ed2, thanks for a very detailed overview! Do we hold an interest in Ederson? Didn't see his name on your list. Cheers.
{Ed002's Note - Yes but he is not a DM player really. Fty searching.}
30 Apr 2024 12:19:52
Excellent info as always. Many thanks.
Murillo or Hancko potentially are amongst the most achievable/ realistic LCBs I presume. Inacio would be the perfect VVD replacement but guess his price and our previous conduct makes that move unlikely.
22 Apr 2024 16:31:30
Got a bad feeling it will be De Zerbi. Hughes supposedly a big fan of his.
30 May 2025 11:43:30
I've watched a hell of a lot of him this season. definitely wouldn't say he was slow. But then I wouldn't say he was quick either.
He's a great finisher, likes to carry the ball, quite strong and can ride challenges to bundle his way through defenders.
The only question is whether he will be afforded as much time and space to do all these things to make the most of his finishing ability in the PL. The majority of defenders in Liga Portugal are awful, although he does perform reasonably well in Europe, for Sweden, and against the bigger teams in Portugal (Benfica, Porto) whose defences are a bit stronger.
Might be worth a go at ~50m if Slot wants a traditional #9, and other options are unaffordable (Sesko/ Ekitike etc. being valued at 100m) .
23 Feb 2025 10:46:41
Great review Ed. Would love to see more of Endo in the run in. Surely he will start using him more to keep the other midfielders fresh.
17 Feb 2025 13:38:16
Thanks!
{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}
