Japanese rumours about a bid for Kubo. I saw quite a few times Eds telling that he has been scouted by the club and may become althe first target for RW when Klopp leaves. Is there any movement here?

{Ed002's Note - I have explained the situation. Takefusa Kubo (RW/LW) Move has worked out well for him. Real Madrid may look to invoke their buy-back option which is about half his buy out clause. This season is going well for him and I doubt he would want to return to RM. Manchester United and Liverpool have sent scouts but neither has declared an interest with his club just yet and the player has signed a new long term contract with a €60M buy out clause. This has not deterred Spurs looking towards a deal.}

1.) 20 Jul 2024 12:01:54
Thank you for the reply, Ed002. So no bid yet. Do you think he is the primary target for a winger right now or the club is still trying to get Gordon?

{Ed002's Note - Gordon would be a Diaz replacement and Kubo a Salah replacement.}

2.) 20 Jul 2024 12:34:56
Choosing players who see LFC as the destination, rather than. a stop along the way is a wise strategy.
I believe both of these players fit into that mould.

3.) 20 Jul 2024 18:44:35
So basically Kubo is a lot more likely to be next summer than this summer.

31 May 2024 11:19:02
Hello, Eds, I hope you are all well.

Is there anything true to the Mbuemo links?

{Ed002's Note - Bryan Mbuemo (RW/F) Seen as a potential upgrade to Miguel Almiron by Newcastle. I am not aware of any approach by Liverpool and having read the article in Equip they are not saying Liverpool are interested.}

1.) 31 May 2024 12:56:19
We should be all over this. Top player, ticks so many boxes. Similar to Mane at Southampton.

2.) 31 May 2024 13:43:19
That's who I would go for if we to buy a forward. premiership experience, good age, can play right side or up top.

3.) 31 May 2024 14:30:21
I agree onekiss is he the same age mane was also?

4.) 31 May 2024 15:40:14
OMG. scrapping the bottom.
instead we can give opportunity to some youngsters.

5.) 31 May 2024 15:50:43
2 years remianing on his contract, with an option for another likely means 50m+ but premiership ready and rarely gets injured.

6.) 31 May 2024 16:15:08
Yep he’s the same age as Mane was. he's a great presser like Mane was and look at their numbers

Mane 2014/ 15 - 2015/ 16 per 90
0.44 Non penalty goals/ assists
0.57 expected goals/ assists
1.53 key passes
2.76 shots

Mbeumo 2022/ 23 - 2023/ 24 p90s
0.44 Non penalty goals/ assists
0.58 expected goals/ assists
1.53 key passes
2.31 shots.

7.) 31 May 2024 18:09:47
Mane was 24 when he joined Liverpool and scored 11 goals in 37 games the season before he signed. Mbeumo is 24 and scored 9 goals in 25 league games last season. If the club feel that Mbeumo is ready to make the next step the way Mane did he would be an excellent signing.

8.) 31 May 2024 22:11:24
Said a few weeks back I’d like Bowen or Mbuemo. In my opinion they are the two best right wingers in the Prem outside of the big 6. Palmer and Saka aren’t realistic options. You can’t even estimate a price because the answer would just be “no”.

Mbuemo is younger so makes more sense on that front. But then Bowen is HG and doesn’t have the AFCON inconvenience. I’d be well happy with either.

9.) 31 May 2024 23:46:20
I Wonder what a prime Sadio would be worth now. Explosive, Clinical, Aggressive ??.

10.) 01 Jun 2024 05:38:17
Probably the same price as Mbuemo, @LiverpoolFC8.

11.) 01 Jun 2024 06:56:57
I like both players as well but I would prefer Bowen.

12.) 01 Jun 2024 07:01:19
Mbeumo is probably the most typical Michael Edwards signing . Has he got injury issues though or has he just missed a chunk this season?

13.) 01 Jun 2024 07:11:32
Mohammed kudus of West Ham is another that you could see us go for not sure on his price as he only moved last year but seems to have had a decent 1st year at the hammers . Slot will know him from his Ajax days and is the right age similar stats to Mbeumo seems to be able to run and carry the ball for fun . Also very mane esque player . Maybe if Diaz where to leave and we received big money kudus could be the man to replace him .

14.) 01 Jun 2024 00:49:09
Love the comment Ed002 "Seen as an upgrade to Miguel Almiron" that is not hard!

15.) 01 Jun 2024 08:37:07
I like Kudus but I don't see there's any chance we can get him this transfer window.

16.) 01 Jun 2024 10:38:38
We should be signing players like Chiesa, Kravadona and Rodrigo. Players who can walk into our team instead of backup players like mbeumo or bakayoko.

17.) 01 Jun 2024 11:30:34
King Carlos are you Jack Grealish in disguise?

18.) 01 Jun 2024 13:04:59
Mbeumo is a baller, didn’t realise he was so
Young. Missed a chunk of last season though but always impresses me when I watch Brentford. Speed and clinical.

19.) 01 Jun 2024 18:13:21
DarwinTheGoat, if we look outside of the Prem I wouldn’t mind Chiesa. He’s about to hit his prime and looks special.

20.) 02 Jun 2024 11:34:35
MKS, always loved Chiesa and it seems the big injury he had did not slow him down, after all. Really good player and plays like his dad Enrico did. Pace, power, tenacity and a gives his all in every signle game he plays.

As for Mbeumo, good playe BUT I think we can do better than him, frankly.

21.) 02 Jun 2024 20:53:22
I'm a fan a useful stats . the important ones, games, goals (not including penalties, grandma goals), assists, interceptions, headers won, tackles won, completed passes, touches in possession (not a concise list) . BUT all this "expected" ballorks is TV junk. How about "miss controls", "poor First touches", "bad decisions" (not wife related! ) that would see several players excluded from duty! Its not a complicated game!

28 Nov 2023 15:38:46
Eds, do you think that there will be both CDM/ CB movement from Liverpool this winter or it is more likely that they do business in summer?

Read report about Todibo from Nice, they look pretty solid in deffence this season. Is he a possible target considering the Nice- United newly formed ties?

Thank you for your work and reports.

{Ed002's Note - Jean-Clair Todibo (CB) Various scouts, including a very high-end independent scout and ex-PL player who has recently been helping Manchester United and Liverpool together with Newcastle, Aston VIlla and Lyon have been looking. Bayern Munich, Spurs, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United have declared an interest, but Nice are still looking for perhaps €50M to sell and Manchester United have a preferred first choice addition - so they would likely make two additions at CB over two windows. Spurs might provide a wildcard option but I would expect Liverpool to look to other options first.}

1.) 29 Nov 2023 17:58:57
Ed02 and maybe you can't or you have addressed it already but can you tell us a few of the "other" options we are looking at for the CB position? Thanks, man.

{Ed002's Note - I have provided a list.}

21 Aug 2023 00:17:09
Eds, is there any possibility for going for Antonio Silva? He looks like generational talent.

{Ed002's Note - Antonio Silva (CB) Benfica say that "many scouts" have been to watch the player - perhaps they are looking for someone to pay his €100M buy out clause - a move at that price seems unlikely but PSG are keen. Juventus and Napoli would want a reduction in the asking price to make any move viable. Newcastle would like to do something but it looks difficult for this window. Looked at by Spurs, whose interest may well have gone, and Manchester United as an option to replace Maguire. For Liverpool perhaps a Konate replacement but very, very unlikely. Discussed with Chelsea during a conversation about another player.

1.) 21 Aug 2023 10:13:13
The last generational talent we chased was Jude Bellingham. I hate we chase after generational talent.

2.) 21 Aug 2023 11:00:34
The term "generational talent" gets thrown around so much these days. Messi was a generational talent, as was Ronaldo. This lad is just really promising and 19.

3.) 21 Aug 2023 11:29:22
First time I heard the term was when ed1 referred to Bellingham as it. It’s a good term and I’m sure it was used long before then but I choose to blame him for the influx of its usage. Now I’m a starlet fan myself.

4.) 21 Aug 2023 11:57:18
TAA is a generational talent and we plucked him from our academy, there is a chance that Stefan B could also be a generational talent.

5.) 21 Aug 2023 13:34:01
You also playing football manager mate?

6.) 21 Aug 2023 17:03:21
I have not in a while, last time was when I noticed Szoboszlai years before anyone else and he is now in Liverpool :D.

7.) 21 Aug 2023 18:53:46
‘Generational talent’, ‘embarrassing’, ‘disgrace’, ‘legend’ to name but four, there are loads of words and phrases that are applied that are incorrect or meaningless in respect to people’s opinions about a game where people kick a ball about for entertainment.

18 Aug 2023 09:30:01
Morning Eds, I remember that you said Hincapir is not a Liverpool's target so today's speculations are probably wrong? Also is Theate a target, L'Equipe talk about interest.

{Ed002's Note - Piero Hincapie (CB) I cannot see any interest of Nottingham Forest going anywhere - an option for West Ham. Scouted and rejected by Spurs, Probably not good enough to be a starter in the Premier League just yet. Tapsoba is likely leaving which means Bayer Leverkusen may hang on to him.
Arthur Theate (CB) Moved to Rennes last summer and they have no interest in selling and that was explaine to Fulham who enquired.}

1.) 18 Aug 2023 10:20:30
Hincapie’s agent is the last person I’d want anything to do with right now.

2.) 18 Aug 2023 10:50:26
I’m sure the feelings mutual ??.

3.) 18 Aug 2023 15:16:08
Who's his agent?

{Ed002's Note - Manu Sierra.}

4.) 18 Aug 2023 22:04:09
Isn't he Caicedo's agent or something?

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

Hello, Eds,

I hope you are all well. I saw that Atalanta bought a new CDM. Does that mean that one of Koopmeiners/ Ederson is available and is Liverpool concerned? Ed002 said that Atalanta does not want to sell neither of them but has this changed?

{Ed002's Note - It is unrelated to Liverpool. Clubs go about their business without giving thought to Liverpool.}

1.) 20 Jul 2024 02:35:34
Virgil isn’t a generational player to you, mk? In his pomp he was a one man insurance plan for the back, covering pretty much the entirety of the space behind the midfield when the rest of team was caught upfield, his range of passing is so essential to the way the team builds up or switches play too, I don’t know if we’ve ever seen a center back with his exact skill set, he set the bar for what a modern center half can do, and I don’t know if any other center back can reach the heights he did in his pomp. Alisson too in his position, I would say.

2.) 20 Jul 2024 05:03:50
I’ve been a Liverpool fan for a goodly g time and Hansen, and possibly Lawrenson, werebetter than VVD. Add Baresi, Moore and Beckenbauer, off the top of my head as better CBs and I reckon if I thought about it for a while VVD wouldn’t be in the top 10 imho.

{Ed025's Note - im with you WDW but it could be an age thing, in the modern era i think VVD is right up there though mate..

3.) 20 Jul 2024 07:04:45
I'm following lfc from mid 80s or so,1st game I can remember watching is 86 cup final v everton, in that time imo vvd head and shoulders best cb I've seen play for lfc. Hanson com8ng to end of his career then so didn't quite see best of him, I've no doubt he was phenomenal player as well.
To be honest in that timeframe i've never seen a better cb anywhere in world as vvd was between 2017 and his injury. Paul mcgrath was outstanding and v underrated, probably next best imo.

4.) 20 Jul 2024 08:29:23
I think we had 4 world class players PB. And at times they maybe came close to being remembered as generational if you use the term a bit more loosely, but I just think it’s the highest praise you can give someone and nobody in a Liverpool shirt earned that.

Virgil was great but ultimately his injury put any chance of him reaching that level to bed. Also I reckon if you speak to most other clubs fans they’d have at least one of Ramos, Chiellini, Pepe, Pique or Thiago Silva ahead of him. To be generational I think you need to be above club rivalry pettiness so much so that even your most bitter rivals won’t even deny it.

Alisson is the best keeper I’ve ever seen but I think the margins are small between him Oblak, Neuer and Courtois. It’s only really Liverpool fans you see calling him the best so you have to ask, are we all biased?

Trent I think had the most raw talent and I think if he’d stuck at the wing back role he’d have come the closest to being remembered as a generational talent. I mean he did it for 5 years and clocked up more assists than any other defender has managed in their whole career. But he has regressed since all this inverted full back BS.

Lastly is Salah and I think he reached those levels in 17/ 18 when we first signed him, but couldn’t sustain 40+ goals a season like Messi and Ronaldo did. In the context of Liverpool players only or just right wingers, Salah is a remarkable talent and arguably generational given it’s a totally subjective term. We may never see a winger in a Liverpool shirt ever again who can score 20+ goals a season 7 years in a row. I’ve probably even called him generational before during an emotional high. But when you sit back and really think about it, Messi and Ronaldo set the standards this era and he never reached that consistently.

5.) 20 Jul 2024 10:12:25
The signings of Virgil and Becker literally turned us from challengers to winners.

Between them they perform a vitally important function of giving the defence confidence and composure. Becker and Virgil would soak up most high balls into the box. Virgil had the pace to sweep up space behind the defensive line and Becker would come out of his box too.

Moreno than Mo or Sadio or Bobby or Fabinho, these 2 made the difference for me.

6.) 19 Jul 2024 20:57:25
Great answer Ed2! ?

But didn’t you know that Liverpool is the centre of the known universe and every decision that is ever made is with Liverpool in mind?

7.) 20 Jul 2024 15:16:09
You guys obviously did not get to watch the best of the best goal keepers Ray Clemence outstanding none of the keepers mentioned come close to Clem and Shilton and Bruce and Southall were fantastic keepers to .

15 Jul 2023 18:52:35
Is there any grain of truth in the Andre information coming from Brasil? Are not Fulham the favorites for him?

1.) 16 Jul 2023 00:51:52
Wonder be surprised if he ended up back with Katie Price.

03 Jul 2023 18:43:39
If Arsenal get Lavia, who is next on the DM radar? Thuram does not seem like a good DM to me and Kone is injured so I guess there is someone else.

1.) 03 Jul 2023 18:52:14
I reckon fabinho will be back to his best next season and have baj under his wing. Get thuram in 100%.

2.) 03 Jul 2023 18:52:22
I would have a search on the Rumours pages to find out what Ed002 thinks if I was you. He's listed midfield options at least 2 times in the last few weeks.

3.) 03 Jul 2023 19:14:48
I think yunus Musah is underated as a DM and I think will count as homegrown when 21. Could be wrong on that.

Amrabat is playing some really good football and experienced. Another one who is underated. Would be a big leader too.

Fofana of Monaco looks a beast.

Maybe they go for experience like brozovic. Great player.

There are great players out there but if Liverpool miss out on Thuram and Lavia, who knows what they ll do. It's a lot of ifs and only they will know.

4.) 03 Jul 2023 19:31:21
Davey, Musah is a good shout but also don't think he would count as HG. For HG you need to have played for an English team for 3 years between 16-21. He was at Arsenal until he was 16y 9m (ish) and he is already 20 so won't have got the years in.

5.) 03 Jul 2023 19:48:51
Davey, brozovic is off to Saudi Arabia.

Ed002, will there be a CDM incoming this window? The options start to look thin.

{Ed002's Note - Possibly. The club were looking at options.}

Thank you for the reply, Ed002. So no bid yet. Do you think he is the primary target for a winger right now or the club is still trying to get Gordon?

{Ed002's Note - Gordon would be a Diaz replacement and Kubo a Salah replacement.}

Ed02, is Ugarte on that list or is he is going to Manchester? Also was there really a meeting between Mendes and Liverpool representatives last week?
