Seriously, the more you reflect on the game yesterday, the sweeter it becomes.

Just want to say, goes without saying the kids were amazing, beyond words. But some of the seniors stepped up to another level too. Amongst those senior players was an important player, just 2 years older than jaydon danns, same age as connor bradley, yet made his 101st liverpool appearance. Take a bow Harvey Elliot, what a performance!

So easy to forget how young Harvey is. Nowhere near his peak and plenty of room to grow.

2.) 27 Feb 2024 06:38:29
The stamina, grit and determination was exceptional. Ball control has always been top but his vision and ability to spread the play is getting better and better. Really impressed.

3.) 27 Feb 2024 07:50:55
For me I thought that Harvey was our standout player, man of the match all day long. He ran the legs off the chelsea players and never gave up. And he's only 19/ 20, he can only improve.

4.) 27 Feb 2024 10:03:55
Also keep in mind that we were essentially playing with 10 men near the end of the game and thru out extra time cos Diaz was absolutely shattered to the point that he could barely walk let alone walk.

This is where Harvey's energy and fitness (along with the kids) came to light cos he/ they were essentially playing to cover the ground Diaz could have. Harvey also could have scored a brace in ET as well. Like the JawRed said, the more you think about it, the better the win gets.

Just gutted. Was thinking to myself a few days ago - after first leg win over fulham and arsenal win - if we do something special with the league, we can all sing "im so glad, jurgen is a red" without jurgen getting annoyed by it. oh man, just gutted.

Granted our first half performance was awful. but the second half was great, we could have scored 6. Massive turnaround.

Given it seems we are always slow off the mark after an international break (dont have the stats to back that btw), i feel this again was a huge result.

1.) 17 Sep 2023 05:20:01
It was an excellent result. Wolves clearly fancied an upset given our defensive injuries/ suspensions, and it was going to plan until they ran out of gas and Gakpo’s goal undid all their hard work so early in the second half.
Results-wise, we couldn’t have asked for more to start the season. We are, however, far too reliant on individual technical quality to win us games rather than a good tactical system we can replicate and improve upon. If this continues we will not sustain these results over the season. Gomez coming into CM yesterday was absolutely ABSURD, and we only started controlling the game once he stayed on the right while Szoboszlai and Jones occupied the middle. It also proved that the invert tactic is not simply to take advantage of Trent’s passing quality, it is something Klopp and Ljinders think can be replicated. Awful.

As always, Salah was tremendous while Diaz changed the game with his speed and technical brilliance. The difference in quality between him and Jota is absolutely seismic, the latter just cannot be starting league games if the former is fit.

2.) 17 Sep 2023 08:18:46
Salah again centre of everything. Imagine we had sold him on the last day of the window! **shudder**.

3.) 17 Sep 2023 10:16:54
How many assists for Salah is that now? His passing has improved a lot and is creating big chances that lead to goals.

4.) 17 Sep 2023 21:35:01
4 assists in 4 games.

5.) 18 Sep 2023 12:07:36
Yeah @Rigsby. I heard that Salah has not scored away from home in 6 games YET he has 8 or 9 assists.

Yeah, let's go sell that guy to the Saudis cos they flashed some cash in our faces and salivate on what new toys we can get with our new found "wealth". Pathetic.

Without risking the wrath of WDW3, I for one am slightly concerned with Man Utd's embarassing crash. Sure, i want them to lose as much as any other red, but it needs to be a controlled steady decline. Must like since whiskey nose left.

Anything more more may increase the chances of them being sold to more winning focused owners.

20 years of them being happy to make it to top 4 the out in first knockout stage of champs league would do me fine.

What your thought on ETG now Ed25? I remember you said some time ago that you like him as a manager. He will come good for the Manc. don't see what the rave about him to be honest.

Spent a ton of money yet his team doesn't even have a style of play. Even last season they were relying heavily on Rashford purple patch. Now the goal has dried up. They would have been worse if not for some sketchy ref performance.

{Ed025's Note - i dont think ETH is the problem mfahmee, there is a toxic culture at united and has been for a long while mate, he is trying to turn the club around but when you have players like Sancho at the club its not easy..

2.) 17 Sep 2023 08:10:31
While not trying to defend Seven Hag, I'd go along with Ed025's assessment. Seven Hag is not a nobody. The Dutch League is not exactly the strongest, but it's not the Norwegian league (where Solksjaer joined from) either. And Ajax is no pushover club either.

I think the entire club culture and structure is rotten, at the moment. From top to bottom. From ineffective parasite owners down to prima donna players, and down to low level employees who are all coasting along on past success and glory. Nothing will change until new owners come in and there's a complete reset and restart from zero.

3.) 17 Sep 2023 09:31:06
The problem with Manchester United is the supporters think they are a special club

They’ve had 2 legendary managers, one who was a Liverpool player, and the other a whisky nose cheating ref influencing genius.

Ether side of those 2 Greats the only thing they’ve won is who sells the most Lunch Boxes in China.

4.) 17 Sep 2023 09:41:39
Interested to hear your view on ETH Ed1. What do you make of his time so far in Manc? I noticed that he mostly bought players that he has worked with before. Spent a lot of money on them even though most are not good enough.

{Ed001's Note - this is the first time he has ever had to set anything up to work his way and he is doing it at a basket case of a club. It is very hard to judge him. I have to say I don't like his attitude that winning is everything, he doesn't care about off field actions of players or staff. I think that is very anachronistic and has not helped his cause. But United are in a position they have to back him now or end up in a similar mess to Chelsea, with players in charge. I just think it is strange that a man so keen on discipline that he is willing to drop a player over a tiny infraction of timekeeping but is happy to work with scum like Greenwood and ignore the off field issues. That does not seem either sensible or workable as a policy.

Either way, until they have a suitable recruitment set up they are never going to be far away from another crisis of results. Their squad is not good enough and no amount of coaching or man management can fix that.}

5.) 17 Sep 2023 09:56:48
I’m over my little tizzy. United have been poor for years. The Glazers appear to have no clue whatsoever and their choice of managers is consistently poor.

Seven Hag was a big fish in a small pond and is now a small fish in an ocean and way out of his depth As with Ole, his insistence that they are playing well and just having bad luck, poor decisions and VAR going against them is starting to sound like a kiddie saying’It’s not fair’ and stamping their foot.

Looking forward to Shappy’s next novella, hopefully entitled ‘rationalising the booing’.

Like I’ve said a couple of times lately - it’s fun to watch.

{Ed002's Note - Clearly you know nothing about Manchester United either.}

6.) 17 Sep 2023 13:39:36
Just curious Ed1, is Sancho really that problematic? He doesn't seem to be someone who is problematic to me. Other thing Ed, do you like seeing your manager having a go at their own players in public? I prefer something like this to be settle behind close door. Nothing good happen if these kind of problems go out in the public I would think.

{Ed001's Note - he is lazy, doesn't put in any effort and is a whiney baby who offers nothing on the pitch anyway. He is very problematic because they paid enormous money and given huge wages to him when he is nowhere near good enough.

Managers should keep it in house, as should players.}

7.) 17 Sep 2023 20:58:28
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. As long as they continue to believe that Bruno Fernandes is a world class player and build their team around him they will go nowhere fast.

Fernandes is a bang average player with a terrible attitude. Yes he’s talented but surely that’s a prerequisite to play in the premier league?

They seem to talk about him as if he’s undroppable because he’s that good. He really isn’t.

8.) 18 Sep 2023 12:12:15
When you have no integrity, this is what happens re: ETH. He may be a good man trying to do the right thing as we have seen with CR7 and Maguire but like you said, he is allowing even worse stuff with Greenwood to go. His lack of integrity and fairness is showing and this dressing room led by the biggest whiny baby of them all in Fernandes, are going to eat him alive like they did the others before him. As for Sancho, he is as advertised.

Hi Ed002

Now that the summer window has closed, who are liverpool signing in January. lol. Have a well deserved rest for now. ????.

JawRed

{Ed002's Note - Bakayoko to replace Salah.}

1.) 02 Sep 2023 10:27:21
Hi Ed 002, I’ve heard of the name Bakayoko, when you’ve had a deserved rest can you give a bit of insight into him please ?

Ty in advance.

{Ed002's Note - He is a RW at PSV who is of interest to Liverpool (and a number of other sides) and a potential replacement for Salah - albeit I suspect Liverpool will move their interest elsewhere at some point.}

2.) 02 Sep 2023 10:31:34
May not be too far from the truth there Ed2….

3.) 02 Sep 2023 11:33:17
Who do you reckon will he primed to replace Salah eds?

{Ed002's Note - I suspect Klopp will want to pust for Sane.}

4.) 02 Sep 2023 11:56:13
Wow. that definitely wouldn't be my idea of replacing salah!

5.) 02 Sep 2023 12:05:13
Ed02, from Bayern? He's terrible. Good grief!

6.) 02 Sep 2023 12:06:12
Okay, so maybe not terrible but I don't think he is good enuff. Can't we do better?

{Ed002's Note - Yes there are better options out there but I understand that that he would be first pick for Klopp.}

7.) 02 Sep 2023 12:30:09
Curious as to who would be good options for you Ed? Maybe a few names if you may Ed. To be honest I can't really think of someone who could replace Salah output for us plus his consistent availability for us.

{Ed002's Note - My pick would be Marcus Edwards.}

8.) 02 Sep 2023 13:17:54
Just looking at Sanes stats from last season. 8 goals and 7 assists in the league (32 games) and 4 goals and 2 assists in CL (8 games) .

I know people will say and have said before it’s a farmers league but let’s not forget 3 of our 4 signings have also came from this league.

Personally I think he’s a good player and his last season in England he got 10 goals and 12 assists in the league.

9.) 02 Sep 2023 13:31:36
So nowhere near good enough then JK23. Couldn't lace Salahs boots!

10.) 02 Sep 2023 14:01:43
If you do it on pure numbers, no player is fit to lace Salah's boots. Apart from Haaland or Kane.

11.) 02 Sep 2023 14:54:36
Jesus, is it December already? What if Salah decides he want’s to stay or Sane gets kidnapped by terrapins? Can we worry about Aston Villa first or just feel excited about watching an entirely new midfield for a bit?

Japan were pretty good at the world cup and enzo is their captain. They were full of energy, strong, attacking. He did pretty well. From memory they struggled with an end product. Luckily for us, we seem to have a fairly potent attack so if enzo plays, he gets my backing until proven otherwise.

Amortising over a period of 5 years is no longer acceptable, regardless of the length of contract offered to a player. 5 years is the max if i have read correctly.

Anyways, cash aside, hints of embarassement aside, we seriously flppping the transfers after such a good start. Know how milan felt now in instanbul.

Need some last minute winners!

ED025, you've had plenty of practice sitting through them everton games. ?.

{Ed025's Note - Everton are awful to watch Jaw you are right, but i watched a good few AFCON games mate and the standard was truly shocking, all the teams seem to have a couple of really quality players but the rest of them are non-league standard for me, just my take of course..
