Good Evening Eds. I see Sky Sports are still reporting that Aston Villa are still keen to sign Bissouma this Window. If they were to make an offer this Window, do you think Liverpool would enter the race due to fear of losing him? Many Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool will not be forced in to making offers for players as a result of what other clubs do.}

Renato Sanches deal seems to be happening according to reports in Portugal and Spain. You know if they're wide of the mark Ed002? I know you said he was of interest last summer.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I gave you an update a few weeks ago and explained:
Renato Sanches (CM) Lille are happy to let the player move on due to the constant muscle injuries he suffers; they wanted €20M cash or €30M with payments spread out although that could increase if Jorge Mendes can find multiple bidders or if there is no sale in January. Klopp has praised him in the past and he would be a more affordable replacement for Wijnaldum, but interest is not yet firm again but Liverpool could look to reducing the fee or even perhaps offering Origi in exchange - but Lille need cash. Barcelona had a sustained interest but they may have moved on. I had thought prior interest of Wolves would likely have left with NES but they could take a chance on him joining on a loan to buy deal after his recent injury - they may even be in a position to look for a cheaper straight cash deal in January. Arsenal would need to make space due to their imbalance between DM and CM. Milan may provide an option but would rather save money and utilise loanees Tommaso Pobega and Yacine Adli to cover for the departing Kessie. The concern would be injury issues and, although talented, he is inconsistent. Maybe something can be done.}

17 Jan 2022 15:36:08
Talented but inconsistent and with constant muscle injuries, wonder where we've heard that before? 🤔🤔.

So we’ve got a lot of midfielders who like a fair bit of time off because of injury, so what is the logical thing to do? Bring in literally the most injury prone midfielder in European football?! I’m calling BS on this, It’s his agent drumming up interest. It would be batsh*t crazy to sign a player with as many chronic injury issues as Sanches, notwithstanding the fact he’s really not that good either.

17 Jan 2022 16:54:48
My issue is more than I think a forward player is the priority and I can't see us buying 2 players in Jan.

Although we've had injuries in Midfield, we'll have a lot of options in the next few weeks.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Jan 2022 17:52:52
We've two games to play till Sadio and Mo are back, and even if both get to the final on the 6th we should be able to beat Cardiff without them. Even in midfield, without sales who are we going to get in who would be a huge improvement on fab, hendo nd thiago! elliott also is on the way back.

17 Jan 2022 18:06:01
Presumably Sanches would long to mediumm term replace Keita or Ox if he arrived, both of whom have had injury problems (and the former an effort problem) . Not really sure of the point in replacing one injury prone player with another.

Honestly I'd rather take a punt on Jason Knight for half the money. He at least has a good fitness record, excluding that one time his own manager joined training and deleted his ankle.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2022 18:15:36
Vvvv I was planning on watching a Pilger documentary later, but I’m guessing you can tell me otherwise. We all know Sanches makes little sense given his injury record etc. But he has undeniable talent.

Agree2 Disagree0

17 Jan 2022 18:43:33
Since the Ox just got crocked yet again we must be signing Sanches to compete with him for time out injured.

The cheapest option amongst all.

I'd rather go for sarr from Watford. Build for the future now.

Have you any injuries son?
Eh yeah I do!
Lovely just sign here welcome to LFC!

What sort of response do you expect from the “fans” son?
The usual one.
Lovely, spot on son, YNWA.

talented, inconsistent, injury issues.

sounds like a Liverpool midfielder to me

on a serious note I've watched 2 or 3 Lille games and there are flashes of the skill and playing style that would suit our midfield. No call on whether he would be or not, but just saying that he has qualities that are understandable as to why Klopp likes him.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jan 2022 09:48:21
Sanches is not a very good choice in my opinion due to his injury record. However i do believe a midfielder is the right investment over signing a forward. We currently have Mane, Salah, Firmino, Jota, Minamino, Origi and now Gordon for 3 positions. None of them are particularly injury prone.

In midfield we have Henderson, Keita, Ox Thiago and even Milner now who struggle for fitness. We also have Elliott just returning from injury so can't rush him. In fact, Jones and Fabinho are the only reliable players. They have both had a freak injury in the last 2 season but neither were out for much more than 5 weeks.

But that's why i don't think Sanches is right. We need a reliable midfielder who can play regularly. Rice or Bellingham are who we should be targeting but almost certainly are beyond our financial capacity. Hence (in my opinion) bargain basement targets like Ousmane Dembele, Adama Traore and Renato Sanches.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Jan 2022 11:37:06
Sanches is nowhere near an undeniable talent (that wonderful pass into the advertising hoarding always lives long in my memory), he’s bottled it in the top leagues and found his level in a farmers league. Thankfully it’s just nonsense as no one at the club would be that stupid to waste money on such an injury prone footballer.

Rumours of Firmino to Barcelona in the summer. Anything in it Ed?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach from Barcelona.}

17 Jan 2022 10:56:57
I would not begrudge Bobby getting a final move somewhere else where the game is played at a slower pace.
He is and always be an LFC legend and i wish him well whatever he does.

17 Jan 2022 12:36:38
Good luck to him if he does go. He’s played his part in the successes.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Jan 2022 12:47:00
Has he actually said he wants to go or has his agent been touting him around? Not read anything about it.
Personally think he should of gone 2 seasons ago. Previous to that he was quality.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2022 15:30:32
Given the original source is El Nacional - Barcelona's own Catalona battle cry - I'd suggest it's nonsense.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2022 20:39:57
I must admit though when I read it I couldn’t help but think it would be the best move for all parties.

I love Bobby and Mane but as with all players at some point they need replacing. Both Firmino and Mane are both on the decline, and have to start thinking of both being replaced at some point.

To be fair there is a lot of good options available this summer ie Diaz, Dembele, Vlahovic etc, who are potentially obtainable by us.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2022 21:39:58
Jones, Dembele is not a good option. He’s an awful option, I’d rather keep Mane. Literally signing him would the equivalent of burning £500’000 a week in cash outside of Anfield. Woeful footballer with a body made out of crisps.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jan 2022 08:46:14
So you rate him then?

Not even robust crisps, like McCoys but flimsy ones like Skips.

A huge amount has been sanctioned on LFC corporate accounts. This is usually seen during signings negoatiations. Incoming imminent?

You will have to forgive my ignorance but I have no idea what you are talking about Akita.

17 Jan 2022 10:40:33
1) How would you know this?

2) As for what he means it's essentially the same as taking £500 from your savings and putting it into your debit account to buy the new PlayStation.

So what he's saying essentially is that Liverpool have moved funds into their 'Business Bank Account' aka Corporate account. Would usually relate to a payment of something.

17 Jan 2022 10:53:32
Im sure the Ed's have some user names on the forum and like to drop in a few tidbits . Who else would know such a thing.
Having said that, a friend worked for a currency exchange company when Aguero signed for City, and since they did the currency conversion, he did know a little while before that that particular transfer was happening.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2022 11:01:59
It would be more interesting to find out the amount sanctioned tbh. I assume by sanctioned he means that the money has gone out of the account? Seems odd in terms of terminology.

As for who would have access to this sort of information: probably someone who works for a Bank that Liverpool has their account in, perhaps Liverpool's auditors (EY), directors or maybe a completely made up rumour.

Interesting nonetheless.

It’ll be the backhander for the decision not to follow up on the ‘false positives’ a couple of weeks back 😉😉.

Money has been moved. Its not balancing the books as its not between accounts. This type of movement happens during transfers. Its a bank guarantee credit note. These are issued as a guarantee to the third party that said capital exists.
I am not aware of any money to be paid to the city of liverpool for any infrastructure related investments hence my guess is that a transfer is imminent.
Am sorry i can't say how i know but someone in comments has already mentioned a close guess as to how i know. Amount is significant but i don't have information on the third party for which this has been sanctioned.

Akira, Ed002 is going to love you for starting this :) . Cue the questions!

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2022 13:55:35
How much is said amount?

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2022 14:16:25
38 and some millions. Its huge as no transfer is upfront with 100 percent money on day1. As this is a guarantee my guess is the player is ought to be at-least 38 millions.
Also lads this could be for past payments but we donot owe that kind of money to anyone. And also debt payments are not paid in bank guarantee.
I am chuckling but really have no idea what this money is for, my guess is that a transfer should be happening.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - I love this a new take on a rumour. Remember the good old days when the internet was awash with rumours of made up Liverpool transfers. The best one was houllier signing zidane for Liverpool which had zero substance. I was so delirious about that one for weeks. I happened to bump into Phil Thompson on a desert safari in dubai around the same time as that particular rumour was being touted and asked him about it and he laughed in my face. Happy innocent days.

17 Jan 2022 14:26:23
Mo's new contract?

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2022 14:30:41
If it is a letter of credit, then no money will have moved whatsoever. That’s the whole point of them.

If someone in a bank or the audit firm has disclosed this, then they have broken a number of different laws and ethical standards. I’m afraid this doesn’t appear to stack up, but at least it was like an old-fashioned rumour!

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Jan 2022 15:04:00
IF this has any substance, my money would be on it being Diaz.
There has been no talk of renewals for Bobby or Mane, who are both getting to the age of 'last big contract' .
Mane is best from the right, and seems to be slightly put out by being in Mo's shadow, and Bobby probably needs a slower league for this phase of his career.
I look forward to a front 3 of Diaz, Haaland and Mo, with Diogo slotting in where necessary .

Agree2 Disagree0

17 Jan 2022 15:34:03
I'd imagine Diaz's economic rights not being fully owned by Porto would represent a serious barrier to your guess "spaceman"

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - id assume that’s not a deal breaker in any transfer. Hurdles like this aren’t totally insurmountable. I’d be shocked if we bought Diaz now as we have mane & Jota who can play in that position.

17 Jan 2022 15:45:01
PGBalls, whistleblowers are common. I'd also assume this would be relatively low risk.

The only confusing part is the bank guarantee and letter of credit as they are completely different things. A letter of credit is usually involved in international transactions and would therefore make a lot more sense as it is a seller effectively asking for a guarantee that the payment can be met.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2022 15:50:30
If this has any substance I'd like to know the name of the bank. Cos if its my bank and staff just give out this Information willy nilly I'm going be fuming.

17 Jan 2022 16:27:50
Ed0666, I remember the Zidane rumour on TeamTalk. The infamous BB started that one, as Houllier was allegedly godfather to Zidane’s son.
I could barely sleep for days. Alas it was not BB but BS ….

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - Yes mate BB 😂….Those we’re the days…I’m not gonna lie mate I fell for it hook line and sinker. That fellas probably bought a private island in the carrabean from all the click bait money he got.

Maybe its a payout to Agent Rafa for his good work across the park 😆.

Perhaps we are signing Sanches as reported on the continent. I’d enjoy it if we did sign him just to see the welcome h3 would receive on this forum.

By far the best transfer rumour we’ve had this window and the funniest 5he game is that it might not even be about a transfer!
