While all is quiet.

Do the Ed's know and would be willing to share any of the craziest clauses in transfers they know off or in players contracts at clubs?

Gaz827

{Ed002's Note - I can't think of anything at the moment but I could tell you a lot of footballer/agent stories. However, two quickies you might enjoy. (a) a Premier League player who couldn't drive had his agent organise the purchase of an expensive car that was rolled out of the garage when he was visited by the press etc. for interviews, demanded the car was replaced a year later with the latest model in a different colour. He still couldn't drive - but it was image. It had a couple of hundred miles on the clock. (b) a northern-based Premier League player who had put clothes in a washing machine but had no idea how to turn it on repeatedly rang his agent in the South East for instructions on how to use it. This was eventually solved by the agent persuading someone at the Worsley Park Marriott to send a housekeeper (or similar member of staff) around to his house to do his washing and instruct him and his girlfriend in the use of the machine. I will say that both players involved are English.}

Shocking them but funny.

2.) 07 May 2020 12:20:56
haha that is a brilliant story, Ed002. Thanks for sharing.

I would love to hear a new podcast of yours where you tell us some other little stories that you from heard from over the years. Perhaps you could call it Ed002's bedtime stories?

Red Sandman.

{Ed002's Note - I will try and do a Sharkopod when the situation becomes clearer. Monday will be the next point where we will see a little more clearly what will happen.}

3.) 07 May 2020 14:55:25
What's a washing machine?

4.) 07 May 2020 16:03:34
Is it true ed, that former Sunderland Midfielder Stefan Schwarz had a clause in his contract that meant if he travelled to space then the contract would be cancelled?

{Ed002's Note - It was when he was at Arsenal, but broadly correct.}

5.) 07 May 2020 18:41:13
Brilliant Ed. Great work.
Thank you

The old one that I was told was that Tony cascarino was sold for a set of squad tracksuits. Maybe when he left Gillingham?

6.) 08 May 2020 09:41:56
I’ve been trying to turn my washing machine on since I married her.

7.) 08 May 2020 00:30:52
Ed, didn't you mention previously that in the 'old' days, players were given items instead of signing on fees, such as cars, paintings etc. If this was common, it would be great to hear some of the more odd items given if possible.

{Ed002's Note - It was one club that paid a couple of players in tax free items such as oil paintings and classic cars. I also know of players who lived in registered as living in Monaco to avoid tax.}

8.) 08 May 2020 16:53:00
There was a player in Germany who had a clause in his contract that demanded his club build him a new house every year. However, he had made no specifications on the house (i. e. size, location etc), so the club built him tiny houses made of Lego every year.

9.) 09 May 2020 10:20:04
I can add one here. Roberto Baggio had a clause which said that at the end of every season his shirt must be auctioned at and the proceeds given to charity.

A clause which Gabriel Batistuta agreed with so much that he did the same while at Fiorentina.

It's quite tough to buy significant game worn shirts for these players as a result.

Morning Ed.
What happened with Rodolfo Borrello (spelling) the former Barcelona youth coach at Liverpool. Was he at the club long enough to put a stamp on youth and bring them through and develop them.
How comes he left?

Gaz827

{Ed001's Note - he is at Man City. He left ages ago and he did begin the revamp of the youth academy yes.}

15 Jan 2020 08:13:03
Guys and girls
If all pans out correctly we could be making history against Everton!
If We continue on our winning run and Man City maintains their winning form and we beat Everton. That's when we will be crowned champions of the PREMIER LEAGUE
COME ON YOU REDS!

Gaz827

1.) 15 Jan 2020 08:50:54
Keep ya feet on the ground an take each game as it comes mate, let's not be jumping the gun here lots of footy too play .

2.) 15 Jan 2020 08:51:53
Someone needs to tell the OP we’ve moved on from 2 points a win since the early 80’s.

3.) 15 Jan 2020 09:27:07
Honestly nothing is over yet. If we take our eye off it and let a few performances drop we could get dragged back into a battle. We need to concentrate on beating Man United that’s it. Hopefully the same points gap stays until the UCL comes along and they prioritise that competition.

4.) 15 Jan 2020 09:55:04
I know, I know. We are starting to jump the gun, me included. Anyone noticed hendo has been playing every game for a while? Also he didn't feature much at the very beginning of the season. I think klopp was resting him. I really think if we lose hendo or van djike we are in a bit of trouble.

Or mane and salah. It could happen. We are in an amazing position, and in fact our squad is getting stronger with fab, lovren and Matip all due back soon. But think how bad it'll feel if we blow it this time! After all congratulating each other. Its not going to happen, surely. We look so strong. But the games are going to start piling up again.

I also think City will lose more games. Okay they just beat villa 6 1 a d everyone is getting their pants in a twist. But remember, we are breaking records every week and have been for a while now we haven't lost a league game for a year. That is mental, but speaks of consistency, Which is our strength. And it's what will bring us our league title. Hopefully.

5.) 15 Jan 2020 09:56:11
There’s only one match worth being concerned about and that’s the next one. There are no oversized females yodeling just yet.

6.) 15 Jan 2020 11:10:40
Still a have another half to play, if we could be so good than surely anyone else could do the same. I skeem a game a time would be the suggestion. But I see what you mean and in all honesty it would be nice to win it in that manner.

7.) 15 Jan 2020 18:47:40
One game at a time, lads. As long as we keep winning, nothing else matters.

07 Jan 2020 13:33:52
Ed. What's your view on Chelsea using retro kit for the FA cup game. Can you see more teams doing it.
Personally I think it's a nice gesture but can be crippling for parents to have to spend out for another kit potentially.

Gaz827

{Ed001's Note - they will do it because then they can flog another kit. Nice to have one without logos like but it was just about making more money.}

1.) 07 Jan 2020 15:47:15
It is a business now.

2.) 07 Jan 2020 16:56:04
They do that in North American sports all of the time, they will wear a retro jersey occasionally, its just another shirt they can sell.
On another note, parents don't HAVE to spend anything, they can just say no to their kids.

{Ed025's Note - i dont think you have any kids do you thunderbird?.. :)

3.) 07 Jan 2020 18:44:38
I would agree Thunderbird. When I was a kid I had to wait until Birthdays or Christmas for "gifts" otherwise it was a case of saving up my pocket money. I appreciate there's definitely pressure on parents to try to keep their kids "up-to-date" but you should always try your best not to spoil them. We've gone off way off course of Liverpool now we're talking parenting though!

4.) 07 Jan 2020 23:45:29
Hansen van dijk then our forwards wouldn’t matter.

For what it is worth for the chat. I remember reading Harry Redknapp saying that every club in the premier league had a interest in him at that time.

Only three years later Rush came in. Maybe would not been if Keegan had stayed. Who knows aye.
we all know what Dalglish did for Rush
Dalglish. LEGEND.

Do you think Dalglish and Keegan would of been as good as we dream about Ed? I can’t remember anyone not shining when Dalglish played with them.

Gaz827

{Ed001's Note - it would have been a dream team mate. Keegan would have been perfect alongside Dalglish. It is a shame but we all did ok in the end. Keegan was a star in Germany and we dominated Europe. But put the two together and it could have been so special.}
